She is very clear as to her expectations of the students.Her exams are not hard if you study and do the home work.She is very fair.

Great Prof. for lectures. Clear explanation on subject. Notes are very clear. HW: alot from book but up 2 u if u wanna do them. Quizes: From hw. and extra credit toward final exam. Exams will b easy if you study ur notes n do hw. Since this class i have beome more interested in this subject. Easy A if u study from the notes n do the hw.

Clarity of her subject matter is excellent. She can break any concept down to the essentials. As with any other class, doing HW and taking good notes is key, but this is particularly true for her class. After all the effort she places in her teaching, you don't want to disappoint her. Very fair with the grading.

She is great, nice and helpful. Do your HWs and exams would be easier. I did not like general chemistry 11 or 112, and I enjoyed very much her class. Not an easy class though. Lab is easier. Great and cool professor!!!

Dr. H writes every presented concept clearly and concisely on the board as she lectures. She's got a cool, quirky sense of humor too. She is fair and reasonable but has high expectations as she is teaching college level chemistry, not the kind of chemistry you'd take just to get a required "lab science" course. I've had her for 2 semesters.

I took CHM 111-112 with her and I thought she was an excellent professor. I had A's on all the exams. My advice is to attend all the lectures, take notes, and re-do the class examples to do well on the exams. She is very clear and has a great sense of humor. Take advantage of her office hours for additional help.

Awesome professor, she's very clear with her expectations and it's easy to follow her and take notes. I learned a lot in the two semesters of her class and I recommend it to everyone! I got an A both semesters without doing any homework at all but the homework does give you an edge and she's kind of big on it.

Strongly suggest to study your notes before exams and do your homework. I took her for lecture and she's very outstanding in terms of explanation, availability, and grading.

Do your work, be on time, keep your cell phone off during class and she's a peach. Listen well in class cause she hates when you ask about something someone already asked or something she just said. She really makes herself available to be on campus whenever you need her...especially test week.

Dr. H. is a great professor. Organic chem is a notoriously tough subject and she does a good job explaining the material in class and her tests are fair but not easy; she really tests your understanding of the material. She also makes every effort to meet with students outside of class if they need extra help.

She is a really good teacher. I had already taken Chemistry before so the class was a review but the way she presented information made it easy to understand concepts that I couldnt before. Her tests are easy but she is a picky grader. It is really easy to get a bunch of points off by making small mistakes. She is a great teacher and I recomend her

Dr. H is a great teacher, she has an interest in what she is teaching.If you aren't understanding something, go to her during her office hours she is really willing to help. You will definitely have to study and make sure you really understand the material thoroughly before taking the tests. Tests are similar to the material she goes over in class.

Great Professor. Hands down one of the best i have had in 5+ years of college and 10 years in the workforce. She upholds standards, comments that say she is unfair or unpleasent are probably from people that come to class late, use there phone, or are generally rude to the professor and the rest of the class. Be and adult and she is awesome!

Class was easy but I already knew a majority of the material. Nice person and if you need help, she is almost always available. Labs are easy.

Take her! Professor H is incredibly clear about how to do well in her class. She posts all her slides up on BB, and is amazing at explaining concepts. Do all the homework!! Good review for quizzes/exams. She does go a little fast but is very helpful answering questions if you dont understand. Also dont text in class, she hates that.

I took chemistry 111 lectures with 3 different chemistry professors at Nova and she was the BEST one I've had. She's crystal clear in lectures and reduces the amount of things we need to memorize for exams. She's willing to help out anyone of her students and isn't a hard grader at all.. what else could you ask for???? TAKE HER!!

Dr. H was so upfront with how to do well and offered jokes about how she suffered thru ochem the first time in college; it made her relatable and gave us hope that hard work pays off. Such a hard class but Dr. H will help you master it if thats your goal.Got an A in 241/242- take her! She's an excellent teacher and invests in her students big time.

OK, first, OCHM is a difficult subject and it should be a challenge to achieve an A. If you aren't putting in the effort, your grade will definitely reflect your contributions. If you are interested and self-motivated, you will do well in Dr. H's class. She genuinely wants you to succeed. If you want an easy A look elsewhere!

Dr H is officially the greatest professor I've ever had. She knows the material, knows how to explain it, and bends over backward to help students both as individuals and as a class. The only people I've ever heard a remotely negative word from are the ones who get caught not paying attention in lab. If you want to learn, take her classes.

Dr. Horoszewski is hands down THE best science professor I've had. The only people that didn't do well in our class were the ones who never paid attention or did any reading outside of class. This is not an easy A, but she makes chemistry as easy as it can (or should) be.

She doesn't tolerate disrespect like phone use during class because this is College and We're Adults. Tells goofy jokes, cracks herself up, I love it. I feel like I'm in nerd heaven when she talks, HOT is an Understatement!

Very nice teacher, I recommend anyone who plan to take gen/org Chemistry at NVCC to take her. She makes the hard staff easy and her ppt notes are the best to understand. Study her ppt notes and do her HW and then I guarantee that you will pass with an "A" or at least a "B"!!!

Going into this class I was terrified because I'm not a strong math student. I ended up doing pretty well. Do the homework and extra credit and it will all come together. She was very helpful during office hours and super clear about what we would be evaluated on. Her nerdy science jokes were a bonus.

Dr H is great! She knows the subject well and is great at explaining. Chemistry is just a hard subject but she makes it as easy as possible. You have to study and do the HW She drops a quiz grade and will replace your lowest test grade if you do better on the final. Take her!

Awesome teacher, take her. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't show up to class she notices & doesn't appreciate it. She is kind & helpful. If you go to her office hours make sure you show up with specific questions & are organized or she may get a bit annoyed. Also, make sure you do all HW...it's optional, but will prep u for quiz/tests.

Dr H does not mess around. She covers a lot in class and you have to make sure you read ahead of time and then after class to take it all in. She doesn't have a required textbook, instead she does everything on powerpoint. Which is cool, cuz it saves money. Do all the HW as soon as you can after class and then go to her for help, don't wait.

She's a great teacher, always available for help during her office hours. Chemistry itself can be difficult however if you do the homework, worksheets on Bb, and get clarity during office hours it will be difficult to get less than an A. HIGHLY recommend.

Dr. H was very helpful and was always there when I needed to come to office hours for some extra help. Flexible with schedule. you will need to study, but if you take good notes you will be just fine. she is funny and really knows the material well.

She loves what she does and teaches very well. I never took her lab class so can't say much about that. The order in what she teaches you organic chemistry is by far the best. I compared the curriculum with others VA schools and they are doing it wrong. This is one of the few gems we have at NOVA. Teaches well but doesn't hand out grades.U EARN IT

Very responsive to students, fair and allows you to work in small groups or with a partner for most quizzes and labs. Gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Homework is extra credit. Super nice person as well!

Great professor, first time I have taken Organic chemistry and she really walks you through it. She is always open to giving students extra help and gives many opportunities for extra credit. It's a hard subject, so you have to put the work in, but if you do Dr. H will get you there. She's a very organized professor, which I really enjoyed.

Have an A in orgo 2, and I never opened a txtbook--Dr. H's that good! Print out slides and take notes in class (must go). She goes over homework (optional) ?'s which shows up on exams. Weekly quizzes (3-6 ?'s) r ez if you reviewed notes. She's chill/light-hearted. Teaches one of the hardest courses in the easiest way possible w/ lots of practice.

Dr. H's great! Pre-lab's tedious but necessary. BB quiz's from pre-lab. Labs are like chm 245 but with more reactions!--and w8ing. She's super time efficient and helpful (some ppl didn't know how 2 do simple distillation). Post labs take 15 minutes (or do it while w8ing). Final looks simple if you did the minimum work. Get Uvex goggles--Trust me :)

Dr H. is a great teacher. She clearly explains the material and is always ready to help students during her office hours. There's worksheets for extra credit before every exam and that's going to help so much. If you put in a little effort, it's very easy to get an A.

Here is the thing, The lectures can sometimes be powerpoint heavy, BUT just focus with her because she is an amazing explainer. Optional homework with lots of practice problems to help you do well on tests/quizzes, practice tests, plus she's very helpful outside of class if you need it. If you need organic and wanna understand it, take her. You can't go wrong.

Dr. H. is awesome. Take notes. Read the chapter before you come to class. She will sit with you during office hours and patiently help you work through homework. Some raters say she's "cold". No - she's not overly "bubbly" and won't act like your mom (and you shouldn't expect those things of any professor), but she cares SO MUCH and wants to help.

She gives plenty of opportunities for you to keep up. She would ask if you have questions in home works and lab before she begins her lecture. She doesn't dismiss questions as long as it's related to the topic. She gives lots of extra credits!

Dr. H explains chemistry in a way that you will understand! I have a new found love for chemistry that I did not have in chem 111. She gives a lot of extra credit, and her tests are almost IDENTICAL to the practice tests. She makes it really easy to understand and pass the class. She is strict in lab but only for safety purposes.

She has a very clear syllabus. There are a total of 4 exams and a cumulative final. You won't be able to attend the lab if you are late more than 15minutes and you have to come prepared to the lab (with goggles, proper shoes, printed lab manual) otherwise you would get 0 for the participation section (basically you would lose 1-2 points out of 20

Dr. H seemed to have a rough start at the beginning of our course (a tired mom for sure). But after the first few classes, she made it clear what she expected from us. Sapling homework deadlines were a bit annoying BUT, she removed the questions that we felt were too challenging. Her study guides reflected her exams, not too hard. Great professor.

Dr. H was a really good teacher, she made chemistry very easy BUT, she was not lenient at all. Everything is posted on blackboard and gives plenty opportunity but, if you're lazy don't take this class. You need to keep up with everything

I took her CHM101 summer 10wk class and it was amazing. Not an excessive workload and shes funny and good at explaining things. Strict on safety in lab so make sure you bring your stuff. Strict on minor mistakes too- Shell mark you down for lab mistakes so proof read your work. Great teacher and super understandable- I LOVED HER CLASS. TAKE HER.

She makes chemistry soooo easy! I took her 10 week course and it was really enjoyable. She assigns very little homework. Her exams are just like the study guides.

Dr. H is a one-in-a-million professor; I could not recommend her enough! Dr. H's lectures are very straightforward and clear, to the point where she made more sense than the textbook (which I stopped reading). She's open, encourages questions during class, and has office hours if you need help. Show up, take notes, and you're guaranteed an A!

Dr.H is amazing! She will drop the lowest exam score and only 11/13 labs count towards grade. She explains the material so well and makes CHM very interesting. She gives tons of opportunities to ask questions and she wont move on until everyone understands the concepts. She is extremely smart and down to earth. I highly recommend Dr.H.

Best CHM prof I had in my life. She makes everything very clear and easy to understand. Many extra credits. She is fast responding to e-mails and accessible most of the time and willing to explain and answer your question for 1000 times till you understand. you have to work it is not an easy A. I'm not good at CHM, But I got an A with her.

All of the homework is online through Sapling and it's super easy, following that, there are only a handful of tests and they're relatively easy if you study the homework. Labs are printed online and easy fi you have a reliable lab group, it makes all the difference. She doesn't want to fail anyone.

I can't say enough great things about her. I took this class online over the summer as a student from a different university. I had prior knowledge of chemistry, but she still explained things well. She's easy to reach by email and sets up a lot of office hours to help. Exam extra credit and practice exams are just like the real one so do those!

Dr. H is amazing. I am actually really sad I cannot take her next semester. Makes material very easy and understandable, super kind, answers every question in depth, always accessible, many scheduled office hours. Just watch the lectures, take notes, and do the minimal homework she assigns. Not many easy A classes you will also learn from.

Tests were like the sample exam. sapling homework sometimes had hard questions but fairly easy overall. Lots of extra credit and labs. She drops your lowest lab grade and no final exam. 4 tests with a cumulative exam if you want to replace your lowest test grade. Heavy lectures but you dont have to attend just watch the recordings. Highly recommend

Professor Horoszewski is one of the best professors I have taken a class with. She is teaching very clearly every topic but gives many homework which help you for the exam. She drops the lowest exam, assignment, and lab. She is available when you need help. You will get good grade if you do your work.

Great professor! easy chem labs and easy exams. No webcam but is on lockdown. Easily passable. Really nice professor as well. Easily accessible. Had office hours almost every day. Did not have to show up for labs.

Loved this class! The lectures are straightforward & relevant. Extra credit opportunities through test review worksheets & these worksheets are essential! They preview very well what will be on the exam. Some homework, not a lot of reading. Make sure to attend class. Dr. H communicates the material well & definitely knows what she's doing. :)

Dr. H is a hard-working professor that really gives a lot to her students. You need to work for a good grade, but it is not impossible. She incorporates various memes in her slideshows which have made me laugh from time to time but what is most important to me is her nonstop effort to provide her time for her students.

Dr. H was a great chemistry professor. I hadn't taken chemistry since freshman year of high school (going on 5 years ago!!) yet she explained each topic in a way that made sense and was incredibly patient towards students who were struggling. Definitely keep up with the homework and at least take a peek at the study guides!

Dr. H makes chemistry easy to understand. Provided a lot of study materials to prepare students for each test & several extra credit opportunities were available. If you complete the study guide before the test you will know almost exactly what to expect on each test. Highly recommend.

Dr. Horoszewski is a great chemistry teacher if you really want to understand the curriculum. I will say PLEASE take advantage of the extra materials (teacher notes, YouTube videos, etc.) and study guides for tests because those will help you study. The homework is on Pivot and Macmillan Learning (E-text is provided with the software).

Best CHM prof EVER! She's so knowledgeable, knows how to teach effectively, and is always willing to help. Go to her office hours if you have questions bc she will go over whatever you need w/ no judgment. Her practice exams are very similar to the real ones & her extra credit is great practice! She also has an approachable persona. 10/10 take her!

Except she judges student's attitude so far but the lecture and her attitude in class is professional. She knows and cares what they confused on the topic, and exam material is very well-organized so we don't need to spend our time wrongly on the concepts. Just take the class, and practice exam, and will be fine. Everything is reasonable.

The professor is more than willing to help you understand the concepts or problems in lab and lecture. Doing the extra credit will keep your grades up high. The practice exams is similar to the exams, so do them to be prepared. There is a presentation, but it's only presented within a group and it's easy to get full marks.

There is some math involved. Labs are easy A's.

Dr. H was amazing I couldn't have asked for someone better to teach organic. This class was hard because it was accelerated, but she made it very manageable! She is available to answer any and all questions before class and during office hours. I would 10000% recommended her to anyone needing to take organic. She's the BEST!!

The study guides are very similar to the tests. She gives extra credit a lot (6 points per test). 3 exams and one final. One lab gets dropped and lowest exam score. Labs are easy and fun. She can work with you about days for tests and 5% point deduction per day late on assignments. One day in person and one day zoom lecture. Great Professor!

Dana is a great professor who cares about students. Chemistry can be tough, but her clear explanations and helpful extra materials (like unstuckstudy!) make it manageable. Definitely do the practice problems - they really prepare you for the exams.

I took this class as a transfer student over the summer and thought this class was taught really well. She was clear about what topics and type of questions would be on the test and did practice problems along with lecture in class. The labs were generally easy to understand and if you needed help she was always willing to answer your questions.

Very interesting prof, she is very intelligent about what she is teaching and is really laid back, seems a little socially awkward, but she made chem easy to understand and was very accessible outside of class. I highly recommend her.
