This class should not be a 200 level course - I find myself learning information in a 400 level biochemistry class that would have been useful in 219. DHL is a good professor who knows a lot about biology. However, be ready to do 6 lectures a week. Before each class there are 1-2 prevideos that range from 5-30 min each, and they are LECTURE, not homework. A lot of time is wasted doing things like "case studies" which do not help with material and just waste time. The class is fine, but difficult

DHL is a very smart professor. Her class is very demanding when it comes to lectures because she lectures three times a week while also assigning 1 or 2 pre videos per lecture. Her exams are extremely difficult and specific but she offers extra credit prior to each exam. By doing all the homework, group work, and extra credit, an A is achievable

DHL is an amazing professor and I definitely recommend her if you have to take a biology class! She's passionate about her subject and it shows in her classes. DHL is fantastic! I was surprised that my Honors class was my easiest. She understood that life happens, and you can literally talk to her about anything: Recovering alcoholic who falls off the wagon? Email her, and not only get some time to recover but she'll check up on you later in the week. Overwhelmed? Talk it out and prioritize with her.

Dana is clearly very passionate and knows cellular biology very well. However, she makes the exams nothing like lectures and then acts surprised when the exam averages are always low. She does not curve exams. You can study every day for weeks and still fail the exam no matter how well you know the content. Do your homework. Take Dr. C if you can.

I love DHL as a person, but her teaching style was not for me. She speaks very quickly in class, and I felt like I never really understood the full extent of the lecture because of that. Her exams are very HARD, and you may just have to accept the fact that a B or a C in her class is equivalent to an A in other courses.

Dr HL was the hardest prof Ive ever had. Her exam redo would be 6 mins long for 6 q's & theyd be impossible to answer in that time. I used my friends slides from Dr C's class to study for exams bc they were better; DHL did too many case studies & didn't focus much on exam content. Overall, I wouldn't take DHL again if I had to even though I passed.

Dr. Lima took the year of 2021-2022 off to reform her 219 class. I am currently in this class and it's entirely based on videos assigned every day. It's ridiculous and I am learning nothing. I walk into class and gain nothing from the "group work" that we do every day. Most of the time, we're stuck without a single clue of what to write down.
