Great professor! Very easy class. Powerpoint on every chapter, homework on every chapter too but he goes over it in class. Just make sure you do the homework because he'll ask you for the answers. Attendence is mandatory. A midterm and a final, that's it. Love this teacher, ver funny. MUST TAKE!
A joke. Did not follow through with syllabus and then has an attitude toward anyone that's brave enough to challenge this. The exams are turning in your homework that is said to be due at the end of the semester.
A good teacher, very entertaining sometimes gets a little off topic but is helpful and keeps class interesting. My advice is to attend every class, do your homework and take notes. If you attend each class and take notes you will do just fine as goes over each homework problem.
This teacher is a joke. He seems nice, hilarious and laid back when you first meet him, but as the semester goes on you realize that you aren't learning anything. I had to teach myself in that class because he doesn't know how to explain. And he goes off topic ALL THE TIME.Then he thinks its funny to pick on students. Don't take him.
He is a very interesting guy, but if you actually want someone to help teach you accounting dont take this professor. you will end up teaching yourself with the book. if you have an accounting background you should be fine.
Professor was very laid back and seemed like a cool guy at first, but when it came time to teach, you might as well grab the book and teach yourself. He'll pretty much tell you the same thing when you ask for help. Tell you to turn to a certain page and go off of that. Definitely not a teacher I would recommend.
If you have no education in accounting, DO NOT take this class. I had to rely on the book to teach me. The book was the teacher. He just reads some power points and tells you what to read. I didn't learn smack. Talks off topic. No structure for the class at all.
This is the best professor I have ever had in my life. You have to be completely lazy to not pass this class. Its harder not to pass than to pass. This professor is different. Which is what makes him special.
THIS PROFESSOR BROUGHT TO MUCH OF HIS PERSONAL LIFE INTO THE CLASS. I HAD TO RELY ON THE BOOK. HE DID NOT TEACH, HE JUST READ THROUGH POWERPOINTS AND TOLD YOU WHAT TO READ. HE IS NEVER CLEAR ON HOW THE TEST SHOULD BE DONE. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Best teacher on campus proffesor jones explains all material on each chapter goes over the power point then goes over the hw as well after taking both acc 201 and 202 with him i larned that all acc proplems can be solved by using critical thincking anyone that failed his class was beacuse they where lazy and didnt want to work for an A
Dana is the BEST professor out there! Although this class is challanging to begin with, he makes the material understandable and clarifies what is expected of you. Attend lecture, do your homework and ask questions! He is more than willing to give his time for you. If you fail, it was because you can't follow directions and/or are lazy.
If you don't like accounting or not interested in it at all then don't take this class. This professor is great at what he does. He guides his students to understanding the subject on their terms not his. His teaching method is great. If you are lazy or can't read you will fail. If you listen and eager to learn you will do great!!
Professor Dana Jones is very professional. Accounting could be a little hard sometimes, but the method he uses makes it seem practical and understandable. He likes to share some of his experiences to encourage students to keep up and to be better everyday. Some instructors do not care about the students, professor Dana absolutely does.
Professor Dana is a great instructor. He always insures he attentive to the information. Making sure his students understand the information. He teaches properly with clarity. Ensuring that he breaks the book downs to his students. Even insuring he reads book. Homework is easy. Your book is bible, reestablishes you if you are to get lost. Acct easy
I took Dr. Jones' ACC 201 & 202. He is a real teacher. It is sad to say there are few real teachers who think. Dr. Jones is one of those few. Teaching his students to apply lessons to life. Dr. Jones is a great guide to life, an asset in life, as well as academic environments. Without Dr. Jones, my state of mind would still be average.
Professor Jones is an easy professor. He gives out homework but he helps people if they need it and we have class work that goes with the homework so that we can look back to it as an example, he gives lectures from the book and one is suppose to remember the formulas but his test are easy! He breaks down all the problems in a simple manner.
He was absolutely the best teacher, mentor, inspirational speaking professor I have ever had in my 4 years of College. Professor Jones has motivated me to do well in Accounting and my life.
Prof. Dana truly cares about his students and strives to help them succeed as long as they are driven and willing to do the work it will take.
Wow, this professor is amazing. He doesn't just teach about accounting. He also teaches how to live a good life. He has a doctorate degree, he's worked in huge banks, owned his own businesses, and is very down to Earth. He has definitely inspired me to become an accountant and has made it fun for me. One of the best college professors I've had.
He is a very good professor to have. He will stay with after class to help you understand the subject, and is willing to just hang out. He allows everyone to learn their own way. I would definitely take his class again.
If you want to get your money's worth, this is your man to help you get that! Not only does he build your managerial accounting skills, but he also gives you game about the real world all in the name of ethics. He cares about each one his students individually.
Professor Jones was a good professor, man and person. He cares about his students professionally and personally. He teaches Accounting in an easy to comprehend fashion (as a language not a math problem). He is wise in regards to economics, finance, and has taught me how to incorporate Accounting into my everyday life. A true class act!
I took Accounting 201 and 201 with Professor Jones. He is a good example of what a professor should be and really gets his point across. Not only did he help me learn Accounting, but using his techniques has helped me in all of my classes. I have even become better with my own finances and I am more confident. He is a great professor!
Professor Jones was great. His attention to detail and care for his students shows through his work. It was a pleasure taking this class and I learned a lot from it. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn and educate themselves about accounting.
I recently took accounting 201 and decided to take accounting 202. This class just expanded my knowledge about accounting. I can truly appreciate a great teacher who takes the time to make sure his students learn and achieve their goals.
Great guy. Really big on attendance and participation. All you have to do is show up and ask for help and their is no way you can't get an A. Tests and quizzes are pretty easy no surprises. He's very helpful if you need help there's no limit to how much time he'll spend with you before or after class.
This instructor is very inspirational. Has an awesome sense of humor so the class's vibe was always a positive one. The lectures where amazing. He really cares about the students success and future. Not only have I learned accounting but I have also learned how to critically think in any situation, not any professor would teach that. Loved it.
He cares about his students. If you don't understand something, and he's always asking everyone every class if anyone has questions or doesn't understand it. He shares his knowledge of life and experiences. This class was truly life changing and inspirational. If you have the chance, take him as your teacher, you won't regret it.
I learned how to learn from this man. He cares about the students, everything goes into it. Day to day comes to life. Even if you're struggling, or don't dig the subject, you will want to succeed with this professor before long.
Shy at first, but a very funny man. Plenty of time in class to ask questions if you ever get lost. Allowed to use quizzes and notes on exams but not homework.
Professor Jones is awesome! He is very easy on the subject and helps you understand the material. He's funny and makes the class fun.
Excellent teacher loved how he taught the class and made up the scheduling of class
Professor Jones is there for you he cares about his students , his funny, and i like how he teaches his class and give his test if you do your homework you should be able to pass his class.
One of the best teachers out there. Very knowledgable and has many stories to share from his past jobs. He does not really teach the subject matter in the book. Rather, he goes over anything you might not understand, after you read the chapters. Show all your work on your HW and take home quizzes, as they can be used on the exams.
An Amazing teacher! He is there for you but you need to tell him want you need help with. Homework are from the book you can also do them ahead of time. Read the powerpoint and he gives you the main points in the book to read. Test are based off the homework and quizzes are not hard if you do the homework. If you need help just ask. GREAT TEACHER
Follow the syllabus and do your homework. There is no way you can fall behind. If you don't get something ask him and he will sit with you in till you understand how to do the problem. He knows if you don't do your homework do not like just tell the truth he is willing to work with you. but trust me great teacher and is their for student
Test are not many. You can use your homework and notes on the test. Quiz are not hard if you did the homework. Homework are not hard if you read his powerpoint. Great teacher and straight to the point gives area of the book that are important and doesn't waste your time. Would love to take again.
He is very easy on the subject and helps you understand the material. Do the homework (there no way you can't since the book does have the answer). Do the quiz they aren't hard. Ask for help and you will pass easily !
doing all the homework and quiz you can still pass the class even if you got 60% on your test. good teacher! just do your work and make sure you understand
1. you will learn everything you need to know about accounting 2. there for you 3. very knowledgeable about the subject and there for students. 4. take for 201&202
I loved this professor! If you don't understand something just ask for help. Do your homework, show up, TRY, and you'll pass. He truly cares about his students.
This guy lacks organization and clarity. It's beyond not clear what assignments are due when and what the assignments specifically consist of. He gives out, or rather you're required to print out, what he calls "pre-quizzes" which are 4-5 problem assignments that he expects you to complete before he has gone over the material in class.
Great teacher if you need help very easy to approach.
love the way he teaches, hes gives examples on real life. easy a i would have to say just do the work and show up to class and you'll do fine. if you have any questions just ask away.
Best teacher ever! Dana Jones was amazing, his class is simple if you pay attention and get your work done. He lets you use notes on quizzes and tests, my favorite teacher & his lectures are about life so it's great. I wish I could take him every semester but I dont need acc anymore :(
Dana Jones is a great teacher! If you ever struggle with something, he always explains it to you one way or another until you do understand it. I will defiantly take again. We have pop quizzes and book assignments but are fairly easy. As long as you do them and save them you will be fine!
He is a great professor, sometimes funny. He helps you if you don't understand, class easy to pass as long as you show up and do the work.
Weekly homework very easy. Weekly quizzes 5-7 questions. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours a week on homework/ quizzes. I would recommend starting a study group asap. First 4 weeks are tough and you will be completely lost. He encourages all the time to ask questions if you are. The class get easier after the first few weeks. Attendance is graded.
It was my second time taking acc 201, he really made things easy to understand and grasp. He was fun and interactive, clear and uses real life scenarios to help up understand. Honestly best acc teacher you will ever have.
Professor Jones is a very experienced person in the world of finance. He has done it all from owning his own accounting firm to owning several businesses from which he pulls experience to teach you how to actually apply the book examples to real life. Super funny and expects participation because, honestly, that is the best way to grasp any concept
Dr. Jones makes sure he highlights the things that will benefit you financially and teach you how to apply it to everyday life. He makes accounting an exciting option if youre undecided of what youre majoring on. Few quizzes and has now integrated online tests which truly guide you through all the material fluidly. Take him for 201 and 202
Prof. Dana is great. His lectures don't follow the book very much at all, but you get used to that. Do the readings, do the take-home quizzes, work in groups, and you'll do fine on his tests. Be sure to participate, ask questions, and make comments in class - it really counts a lot for him. He highly encourages group work and studying; you should.
This class turned out to be a hybrid. Attendance was optional, although, the professor did give extra credit for showing up. Get into a study group asap. Professor Dana is cool. He keeps it real all the time and speaks about all kind of topics, and somehow he manages to tie everything back to accounting.
He does not TEACH. Accounting requires alot of problem solving. He didnt go over problem solving all he did was go over definitions and used personal events in his life to try to put it all together. He literally expected us to exchange phone numbers and work together to solve issues. NO! That's not how it works, you are the teacher, SO TEACH!!
You really have to work with peers to get the grade you want. Class is lecture heavy
The professor is a nice guy BUT he doesn't teach you accounting. Even though it was not an online class, all the work was online and attendance wasn't required. I relied on the book and trail and error pass. The work is hard at first but once you get it, you'll realize its easy. It would've more easy if I toke a professor that actually taught it.
amazing professor, work hard, learn a lot really simple
Professor Dana Jones is a real gem of CSN. He has gone above and beyond to make sure I understand fundamental accounting concepts while doing it all in a easy and remarkably simple way. I am a much better student than when I walked into his class and I am thankful for it.
Great Professor!
Awesome professor! Great class to take if you love working with others.
In this class you work in groups to get the assignments done, which I think was awesome because one would split the work with classmates and socialize with others.
Great class!
Good class! Attendance isn't mandatory but sure helps to go to class and participate.
easy class and easy going professor. the work is done in teams which makes it really easy, attendance isn't really mandatory but matters a lot towards the end of the course. definitely taking him for Acc 202
Professor Jones was incredibly helpful when I was having issues getting the correct textbook. He really went above and beyond. As far as the class goes it was a little difficult but not too bad. I didn't like the required online text as it was difficult to read, and he doesn't let you work ahead. Plenty of extra credit opportunities though.
Lectures can be awkward to follow. He seems to try to relate an outside example into every single lecture and it just seems like he's rambling at times. That said, he is a funny guy and as long as you do the homework, the class shouldnt be too hard.
Loved this class!! As long as you read the book, and watch the video lecture, you'll be fine. Very helpful, if you don't understand something, and quick to respond if you email. Wish I would have taken ACC201 with him as well!!
This was my favorite class to come to, even though he was sometimes hard to follow. When I did grab a hold of his idea, it made sense, though I had to continuously be in his zone. The easy part of this class is applying yourself to the material and learning it, the hard part is trying to make sense of what exactly he is trying to express. He cares.
Accounting's a lot harder than I thought it was! Dr. Dana is kind & charming but his lectures were a tad obscure & hard to follow at times. He does, however, respond to any inquiry you have well & quickly; always there to help! Lots of work, but there are E.C. opportunities & the work is done in groups. Easy A? For you. If not, seek someone else!
Dr Jones is one of the best professors I have met, full of wonderful insight and personal stories that relate to the subject taught, Must be ready to read chapters and be willing to work in teams, choose your team carefully!
does not explain the material with detail
She provides a discount to the program used for the textbook, videos, quizzes, and exams, which is nice. You just read the text, take the quiz which gives you three attempts on each question, and then the exam which allows one attempt and has more questions. She also provides extra credit for each chapter. You do 14 chapters, 1 for each week.
Great professor and clearly knows his stuff. It was a really easy class to finish, especially with just two due dates. Take him if you want a good class that you can do well in.
He's great and knows a lot about finance. His lectures were fun and entertaining, super hilarious. Gives real life examples and relates them to what you're learning. Pick your groups carefully. Great, amazing professor!!
Definitely a solid choice for both ACC 201 and 202. I was satisfied with her in 201, and now I'm rating her for 202. Simple reading, cheap online book, simple assignments, and there is extra credit. Although, her extra credit requirements changed from 201 to 202. There are now 40 questions instead of 20 and it gives you only 5 points instead of 10.
Clear expectations. I took his online class and he uploads and allows access to all assignments so you can really go at your own pace. I don't care much for Wiley (the program he uses) but that's really all I can complain about!
I never comment or rate professors but Dr. Jones was one that I could not pass up. I sat in the back of the classroom quietly as a ghost and he respected that. I have never had a professor who shows the respect you deserve. I live an hour away from campus but would show up every class because I was eager to learn. Thank you Dr. Jones.
I took the class online and it was self pace, there is a lottttt of things to go through on the assignments but it helps you learn more. Didn't hear much from the professor unless I needed help, there weren't any deadlines, just had to make sure everything was done by a certain day before the end of the semester. Would take again if I could!
Great instructor. Everything is laid out for you in the online textbook. Just quizzes and tests. Work at your own pace. I used the free 14-day trial for the textbook and finished all the assignments within that time. It is very time consuming so start early!
This class was really easy. Make sure to read the chapters and do you work on time. Extra credit will make sure you get an A in this class (130 points) its the same amount of points as quizes and half the tests.
I liked this class because I can complete it at my own pace.I reached out to Professor for some questions about the book and she got back to me quickly.Text book is great. Easy read and a lot of examples to help complete all the tests, quizzes and extra credit work. I would recommend starting from extra credit test, they have explanations for task
All homework is online, no lectures. Dr. Jones gives all the assignments (quizzes, tests, AND even extra credit) all at once, and it is your responsibility to complete them before the semester is up. He is very fair and cares about the success of his students. Just stay on top of your work and you'll do fine.
This class surpassed my expectations on accouting. Textbook is mandatory and you will be graded by quizzes, tests, and extra credit. The textbook was very good as it showed you examples in the text and videos on how to do each of the things being mentioned, be prepared to read because it is a lot though you put your own pace. Don't procrastinate!!
Lots and lots of work, every week! Make sure you keep up with the pace of the class, and you'll be fine! The work is very hard, but once you figure it out, it isn't too bad. Also, all the grades were changed within the last week, and my grade jumped up 10%, so keep that in mind. Just all the work on the website, but no extra things on canvas.
Just take this professor! This class was the best ACC class for me, no heavy assignments, easy to do, gives a lot of time to finish the work!
I took the 8-week online course, and everything is very tight, so time management is crucial! There were 13 chapters to learn, 13 tests, quizzes, and extra credit assignments. The deadline is on the last day of the course, so don't leave all your assignments for the very last moment!
8-week course. Need textbook: 13 tests and quizzes each. One test has questions he needs to grade, he never did so my grade was 74%. He expects students to finish the course in two weeks. If you want to pass the class use the solution walkthroughs and videos from youtube to understand the concepts because he'll only give you the book, that's it.
Dr.Dana is amazing. He makes everything clear on what needs to be done. Gives students the whole semester to get work done. The class is done on Wiley. Quizzes are 10 questions. Test are 20 questions. 14 quizzes, 14 tests, & 14 extra credit assignments. Extra credit is 10 questions with unlimited attempts. Quizzes 3 attempts per question. Test 1.
He is a good acc teacher but there is so much reading and acc stuff but it is mangeable. He has great option for extra credits which is great. He's sometimes hard to reach outside of class. But his class was really not crazy bad but not like a piece of cake.
