The grammar section of the class was very hard for me, however that is only because I had never learned it in high school and just taught myself the ways, then come to find out I'm doing it wrong. This made the review tests (real tests) hard for me.

Boring Boring Boring BORING! Put me to sleep. Can be snotty if you have class with her while she's having a bad day. The grammer tests aren't fun, and she has you write 5 essays. So if you enjoy writing essays take her class.
This class, like any other credible college courses, is not "easy". But Ms. King is a very helpful teacher, although she does have her moments , she's still is a good teahcer. Take good notes, a tape recorder will also help you in this class and

Pretty easy teacher, but very boring. If the teacher was here, she would mark the sentence before this to be a comma splice or whatever. The sentence before this would be marked for some unknown reason because she's like that. Oh well, lots of essays...
if you took any REAL english classes in high school, feel free to ditch her class whenever necessary because you should most definitely know how to construct a sentence on your own by now. papers that would get you a C in HS get you an A in her class...

If you were taught something about writing before, the tests/essays shouldn't be too hard to get a good grade on. You write an in-class essay then an out-of-class revised essay. It is a good idea to use her office hours more than when she makes you go in.
pretty slow class, very easy if you like writing essay this is your class. quizzes arent too hard if you know your stuff you dont even have to attend her class.

she grades hard. throughout semester you write a lot of essays. if your not a good writer or have trouble this is hard class. she's not easy and no extra credit. either you understand it from previous class or else you'll have trouble in this class.
in the beginning, she was nice and funny. but as the days go by, she makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. people are afraid to speak in her class for fear of being made like an idiot. if u kno how to construct sentences and write really great essays, then take this class.
not a very demanding. you could not go and still do well. learning how to construct sentences over again was a waste of time in my opinion. pretty boring, but also easy. nothing more than 4 or 5 page essay ds.
I disliked this teacher with a passion. At first i thought she was gonna be ok but i was wrong. She makes fun of people, never is clear about anything. Horrible teacher. When it comes to essays she will tear even an A paper up saying how bad it is. Stay away from this horrible teacher!!

Ms King is a boring teacher, at first it seemed really easy but i was wrong. she makes you feel dumb and she gives you tests and tells you to do it one way then when she grades you, you do bad beacuse she says thats NOT what she told us to do! WERIDO! she no help at all

Easy class. Not as difficult as most reviewers claim. If you can clarify an opinion and write a sentence, you will be fine.

i think only reason people get good grades in her class is beacuse they know most of this stuff already. read the book it will help in the class cause her lectures are unclear and you have no idea what to study
Unless you're illiterate, this class is very easy. If you can write, you can have fun with the essays too--she has a pretty good sense of humor. Definitely go to her office, she can be more personable and helpful one-on-one.

Her lectures really had nothing to do with the tests, but the test were pretty easy. If your grammar skills are practiced, you should be fine. I got a B and never really studied; most of her tests are common grammar correctioins. I would suggest taking her.
STAY AWAY!!!! Worst teacher ever. Makes you feel dumb! Never want to ask her questions, shoots you down and makes you feel stupid! The most boring class i ever had!
her tests are unbelievable, don't study the book, study her notes, because even if you got a right answer from the book, she will mark it wrong because she didn't talk about it in her lecture, essays are alright, 3 in-class essays which she never actually checked your grammer, she only care for the structure.
The class itself is not a hard class but lots of essays to write; if you get A's on two essays you don't have to write the final essay which is an in-class one. You better know your grammar and punctuation rules because that's half of the material and she uses the book a lot. Overall it's an okay class
i dont recommend taking her class; was crazy about commas and pointless editing that was learned in the fifth grade. she also tends to belittle the students and makes fun of them
the worst teacher i ever had! she makes the students feel stupid when they get something wrong and she is really picky when it comes to grading essays. Really anal about editing. i recommend staying away from this class
It feel like she's thinking "are you stupid?" when you give the wrong answer. Besides that she's OK.
a very tough grader. you learn alot about english, especially about things you dint even know. her class advances your english skills. you have to work hard in this class but it's worth it. she is also great with e-mails.
DO NOT TAKE! the way she treats her students is childlike and demeaning. i had to walk out of class because of her attitude.
I tend to disagree with rating teachers poorly...but this teacher was bad. She is a tough grader, she makes you feel 'dumb' and she definately favors females. Good luck.

she is a horrible teacher. she only likes helping people who get the material if you do not get the material she does not want to help you, her teaching is getting a little better as the semester comes to an end but it is too late for 15 out of the 20 students to get out of the F that they have and into a C or higher.

omg! DONT EVER and i mean EVER take her! I took her for english 101 and it was seriously hell. She makes you memorize all this stuff and expects everything you write to be PERFECT. It is completely pointless for an english 101 class!! The way she talks to you is also very condescending so AVOID at all costs!
She doesnt really teach, gives u all this work and sometimes i wonder if she is even right. She has been wrong many times. When u talk to her, she smiles at u like ur retarded. She is horrible... she doesnt tell you what you need to do in class clearly.. so you sit around for the semester thinking that you are doing the right thing. Then you turn around and find out you are failing... not cool.. never take her.. even if you pass the final and you dont finish her chapters she will fail you

She's intimidating, but she enhances you to write better. I got an A coz I know my grammar(you must know your sentence patterns). Her unit quizzes are fair. Most ppl here agree that King is tough, but she just expects a lot and has high standards. She wants you to improve critical thinking and structure.

she does not tell you exactly what you need to do because she expects her students to know it already. she expects her students to learn on their own. She's very intimidating, I only got a B because I went to class and actually tried. Other than that, if you're not willing to try then don't bother taking her. It's pointless, she'll fail you.
I had her for English 101 and was shocked that she is actually hired! I usually do not speak poorly of professors, but she is easily in the top 5 worst teachers at CSUF. Shows tremendous favoritism towards females, and is more insulting than helpful. Horrible teacher...seriously.
I have mixed feelings about this professor. Material-wise, grammar and sentence stuctures are top priority. I've learned A LOT coming out of her class. However, the process wasn't as beautiful. She can be condescending and even cold at times. Her tone is very off-putting when you ask a question. She doesn't have a warm diposition that's for sure.
u can see her ratings arent that bad in temrs of numbers and thats due to old rating when she might have been cool. WELL NOT ANYMORE!!..horrible prof, class is set up very stupidly and she expects u to have the exact answer she wants. This professor may seem nice and funny at first but is probably the worst professor/teacher I have ever come about in my life span. I think I can teach better than her and hate english. I have never met a professor that does not present things clearly. Professor King is absolutely the worst English teacher I have ever had. I suggest to future students, to not take her class. The class overall is easy, BUT instructions to the assignments are not clear whatsoever.
She is ok. she is not the worse teacher. she talks very mellow and nicely. she has four essays and her quizzes r confusing, but she lets you use the book.
Her class isn't incredibly exciting, but she makes it easy as long as you do your work. I actually enjoyed all the essay topics. She kept things interesting and I definitely learned a lot. I enjoyed the class overall.

Probably one of the worst teachers i have ever had in my life. I did recieve a B as my grade but shes so stupid! She has no place teaching students let alone at a 4 yr university. If u want a good grade and are ok with learning nothing and being bored out of your mind, take this class. I wuld not take again if i could go back though.
Mrs. King is a very nice lady but has no place being the head of a classroom. She is oblivious and has the worst "teaching" approach I have EVER experienced. If you pay tuition, make sure it goes to a good learning experience, something that WILL NOT be had in any Mrs. King classroom.
Mrs. King has a belief that she is an amazingly intelligent person. Her fake compassionate disposition will make you want to roll your eyes every time she talks. just stick to the rules that she gives you and you'll get a decent grade. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER.
Write the paper according to exactly what she asks, and you'll do great in that class. If you simply do what she says, you should sail smoothly in her class. BUT, she does not state assignments bluntly, so pay attention. And the assignments she gives may be monotonous and boring (such as reading) it will help you on her quizzes and papers.
Ok professor King has a different way of teaching English. At first I was intimated by her, but later got used to her teachings. She made me a better writer and I think she is willing to help you if you need it. Might find it difficult at first but you will adapt her style. Hard earned A
The book is needed for this class! She lets you use your book/notes on quizzes. The essay's aren't hard but ask alot of questions if you don't understand. She's nice and helpful. Overall there are 4 essays you do out of class and 2 in class essays. If you dont do well on the quizzes it can bring your grade down.
King, was such an easy teacher. I did not even read any of the chapters she assigned and got a B in the class without putting much effort into i I am not a good writer, she just wants the essays to be just like she asked. Her class might get boring at times but it goes by quickly espeacially because you hardly do work she just spends time talking
I took her class last semester and I really enjoyed it! Some other people that I've talked to don't seem to like her as much, but i thought that she was interesting and helpful. Her class wasn't too hard at all, especially if you're good in English!

Poor professorial skills. The vibe of the class was dull and uninterested. Her work is easy and a waste of time because nothing was learned. Someone should tell her to speak up also.... Please someone. Most of the time it felt like she did not want to be in class.
Professor King's class forces you to think a lot. You get a lot of work, too. I had it at 8 am, and at that time, your brain doesn't want to crank out full essays. The plus side is that her class is really, really easy, and you actually learn quite a bit.
Prof. king is super cool and i didnt mind showing up to her class. as long as you write all the essays the way she explains them and her way with the right format you will pass. there are 4 essays and 2 out of class essays and no tests or final. highly recommended you will not regret it
Okay teacher. The class is pretty easy and straight forward. Go to class and listen to what she says. Very picky with grammer in essays.Textbook is required but youre never quizzed or tested on the material (except for in the essay) Just listen to what she says and follow directions and you will pass the class easily. Anyway, i remember her class as doing a lot of busy work and essay writing while she does her own thing up front. If you can write solid essays and can make her office hours you should at least get a B.
Few if any homework given in this class. Attendance not mandatory but group work is given at random times so you don't want your group to hate you. Keep all your papers because you will need to turn them in altogether when the class ends. Stick to her rules on essays and you will receive a decent grade.
