He was a great teacher, who likes to explain things in away that it relates to everyday things. He is a fair teacher, who helps out the students who show up for class. If you want to do good in his class, show up and take the time to study. His tests are difficult, but if you listen to his lectures you will do good.

I wish Dana taught all of my biology classes. He is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He takes difficult material and breaks it down so it's easy to understand. He loves helping students who help themselves so if you don't go to class don't bother complaining about the material. His tests can be hard but if take good notes you'll be fine!

The only bad thing I can say about him is that he doesn't teach more Bio classes. I hate Bio but I love his class. He makes it fun and breaks things down in everyday examples so you can understand. Tests are very hard but are all based on his notes in class so just study. Always ready to help. Can't say enough I wish more teachers were like him!!

If Bio was never your cup of tea and you are horrible at memorizing... BEWARE! He is one of the best, yet difficult professors around. He is great at explaining and his notes... WOW, impressive. He is very good in explaining the difficult part of this course in easy way. He repeats questions many a times in the same test, that if you miss one then surely second one also u have lost. He has little air about himself...which he shares many times in the class. But whatever it is, he is good teacher. I highly recommend his class to others.

Dana was an awesome professor. Very willing to help you out. Even if your class is at 7 am he will meet you at 6:15 or 6:30 to answer any questions you might have. He goes over topics several times so you can fully understand them and his notes are all you need for the exams. Nice guy overall and always willing to help. Kurpius is very funny and very chill. He likes to joke with students. Its a lot of notes and the tests are hard, but i wouldn't want any other teacher. You HAVE to study, or you will fail the tests. I never studied until this class, and after doing so, i received a B. You don't need to show up, but if you miss class, you miss a LOT of notes.

BIO 108 is a fantastic class for non-science majors. Dana is a amazing teacher. He (yes, it's a dude named Dana) is very funny and talks about family a lot. We had NO homework, and NO dissections.

Such a fun class. I may have thought of failing on purpose once or twice just to take him again; he is that awesome!

His tests are directly out of your notes. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. Everything you need he will tell you in class. Your notes are your backbone to the class. His tests are tricky. Make sure you study, ALOT. The tissue lab is hard. GET HELP FOR IT

It is not an easy class, have to study a lot and attend the lectures. His tests are very hard, but it all comes from his lectures. Do not take him lightly. When it comes to the labs (ex. histology, pig practical) be ready to teach yourself. He will help you if you ask questions, but don't expect him to have a slideshow and explanation with pictures. Lectures, Just study your notes, read up on the subject ONLY to touch up on it again, but you will do fine as long as you show up, and have good notes.

The class was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Dana is hilarious as he will put anyone on blast, which just makes the class more fun when things get dull. He made a point of that at the beginning of the semester. I wrote down everything he wrote on the board, and that's what's going to be on the test. I barely used the book.

He's like a dad; he pokes fun at you but actually wants you to do well and will forgive slip-ups if you're trying your best. He has a great and approachable personality and responds quickly to emails. In HYB Bio, reading the textbook wasn't necessary for the online HW but it was VERY necessary for the tests. If I was a Bio major I'd take him again.

LOVED HIM! He provided us with the materials we needed to succeed, but it was not easy. You need to know the book inside and out to do well on tests. hw and quizzes were online. He gives you a week to take each test and gives study guides. He will drop your lowest quiz & hw. If you are a slacker, do not take hybrid. put in work or fail!

Kurp is the man. His lectures are funny, and he's just an overall cool guy to be around. All the tests are graded fairly, and none of the work is extraordinarily complicated.

I took BIO 110 Hybrid, which is very easy if you keep up with your assignments, and show up to the mandatory number of labs. Dana doesn't really make up the rules for this, so just a heads up ;) Dana is funny & super smart, class is enjoyable, definitely taking him again if he teaches any of the classes that are required for my degree. I took Kurpius a couple of semesters back for Bio 101. lectures were informative and hilarious. whatever is taught in lectures is in the exams. accessible during office hours and i would definitely recommend him.

Kurpius is the best. I took him for the 108 Hybrid class. You can tell he really cares even though we only saw him for lab. He will still go over lecture material at the start of lab in order to make difficult concepts easier. He is also always available either in his office or through email. Dana is awesome! Im late 9/10 but hes super relaxed. Equal lecture and lab but the lectures are always fun. Class very rarely goes to 12:15 like scheduled. He is the best mixture of fun and knowledge. He really knows what hes talking about! His daily rants & stories are my absolute favorite part of class.

Best Bio professor! He is super funny and chill. He is always available and super understanding. He allows make up 2 homework assignments and 2 quizzes and 1 exam. Quizzes are timed online but he will extend if you need, just talk to him. He doesn't count attendance but you need to be there for labs. I hate science but he makes it fun and easy.

Mr. Kurpius is one of the nicest people I have ever met and certainly the best professor I ever had at ECC. He is always willing to try and help you whether it is about biology or a crisis in your life. He is always available by email and answers you all times of the day and night (weekends too!).

Took course over the condense summer and managed to get an A because he accepts 88 as A's! He made coming to class so fun because he's so funny and is passionate about biology. True genius with his study guides and notes, I studied based on those and did just fine. Replies to emails quick if you have any questions and he explains it very clear.

Mr Kurpius is my favorite teacher at ECC, he is incredibly nice, funny, and understanding. If you miss a homework assignment or quiz he gives you multiple retakes, which is very generous. Not only that, but he gave our whole class a lot of extra credit opportunities. The tests are not that hard, as long as you study your notes from class lectures.

You have to show up to class to pass because the tests/quizzes are mainly based off of his lectures and in the case of the corona virus it was based off of mastering biology online where he posts grades, tests,quizzes and homework. I took Dana in person and then online due to the virus. He made the online process detailed emails on what to do.

I'm not a big science person but I took his class online and it was not difficult at all. There's a lot of coursework but as long as you keep up with everything, you'll be fine. The thing I appreciated about Dana was that he sent a weekly email, listing every homework/lab/quiz/exam assignment with its due date for that week which was very helpful.

He was extremely helpful in ways such as reminding students when everything is due with weekly emails, always responding quickly to emails with questions, and being extremely flexible.

This is the easiest bio class if you hate bio, and Dana is very helpful at all times. He makes sure to answer emails right away and he is willing to explain all the content if needed. it is a lot of work, so be prepared to be organized and spend lots of time studying. the chapters are broken down and the labs are not hard even during corona times.

I would take Professor Kurpius again, I really liked his layout he would send out a weekly email with everything thats due that week and whats assigned so it made it clear to follow. This is a hw heavy class as well as tests, with 6 tests a final and 2 lab tests. These tests are easy if you study theyre based off the notes and reading.

Dana is amazing not sure how many times I emailed him and he was always available. Not so organized but he gives you all that you need to pass his class. I wish he took better pictures on exams or a full image but oh well.

Usually too lazy to review but professor Kurpius deserves a good review. Most people I know had a horrible experience with Bio, but professor Kurpius made it my easiest online course. Very nice man, clearly cares about his students and what he teaches. Highly recommend his class, especially if you only need bio for a credit requirement.

Kurpius made the work easy and if you emailed him a question he responded pretty fast. I would take his class again if I ever had to.

Professor Kurpius is like no other, if you are looking to take a biology class then I would highly recommend him. He truly wants to see his students succeed and offers plenty of resources to. If you read his weekly emails you will have all that you need, and if by chance you have questions he's just an email away, responses are usually prompt.

10000/10 professor. The professor made having biology during a pandemic so much easier. Weekly emails are sent out explaining everything and detail (another note to add is that the professor always gets back to you in emails) The homework is really time consuming and takes hours on end. You are definitely going to need the text book too.

This class is not an easy one but he always tried to be helpful, patient, and kind. He always answered questions or emails promptly. I wish there was a bit more feedback, but otherwise he was great. You have to be ready to put in the effort, but he is there to guide you along the way. I heard a lot of bad stories about bio but he made it manageable

I was a bit skeptical into taking bio online but this professor is awesome! He sends out a weekly outline of the things due and makes is super easy to keep me organized. There is a quiz every week and chapter test every other week which can be overwhelming but its doable! The lab instructions are always super clear to follow too!

I would recommend him as a Bio-108 professor. I had this class every other week on Wednesdays for labs and the homework, tests, and quizzes were online. He was very organized. He would send weekly emails every week and when you needed help he would respond to emails in less than 24 hours. His labs were fun and I would totally recommend him.

We met every other week for the lab portion. Learning the content was on you for the most part. Homework, quizzes, and discussions were assigned every week, and an exam most weeks. Dana sent out an email every week outlining the assignments. He was very organized and updated grades quickly. Responded to emails very quickly, and always very helpful.

A great teacher, however his due dates were all over the place. The class work is very doable the real problem is his due dates. Test dates were on a Tuesday due at 10 pm which is very inconvenient for people that have to work. For sure have to be on top of the emails he sends which can help you.

A really nice guy but there was a lot of work to do every week which is also expected in a bio class. He has the same due dates for every assignment every week, so it just takes some getting used to. He wont do extensions but he drops 2 lowest homework grades, quizzes, labs, and discussion posts. If you stay on top of your work you will do fine.

I hate bio, and this class was fun. Dana is a very humble professor. He lays his expectations out from the start so there is no excuse to missing any major labs/tests. He send weekly reminders of what is going on in the week so thats neat. Keep in mind this is a bio class and a lot of work is expected from you. This class is very doable.

Dana was amazing. Clear on expectations, and gave lectures every week before class on what he was expecting us to do for the homework, quizzes, exams, etc. Also sent weekly emails. I was kind of nervous to take biology, especially since it had an on campus lab part to it. Taking him however was fun and enjoyable. Overall awesome guy and professor.

Overall pretty nice and chill instructor. He gives honest feedback on exams. Has a very great sense of humor. I always enjoyed going to his lab sessions. Tests are right from his lecture!

Professor Kurpius is a great teacher! Make sure you know this is a GUY professor.... He didn't like the emails calling him a Ms or Mrs. He also lets you know if you don't study, that you will fail. Professor Kurpius is willing to help and answer's emails almost instantly. He is very nice and funny. A great professor overall.

He was super easy-going, I recommend him to anybody. Coming from somebody who's never really done well in science courses, he makes it less stressful and is willing to cooperate/help us when we need (on a reasonable schedule). It was a lot of studying & time sacrificed but it's worth it (Biggest thing: Don't skip the in-class meetings). Dad vibes.

Professor Kurpius was such a good teacher and I absolutely loved him. He was so funny and I wish I had chosen to take lectures with him but I took the hybrid class. Labs were very enjoyable and interesting but the homework was kind of a lot, you just need to make sure you are willing to put in the effort for the class.

Professor Kurpius was by far the best professor I have had at ECC. He makes class both interesting and fun. He also cares about his students and wants them to pass his class. He keeps the class engaged and is a very funny person.

Professor Kurpius was the best! HE was very fun and great at emailing back fast! I took this class hybrid and learned a lot. Easiest science class for those that are not good at science. Study in advance for lab exams! If you take this class hybrid, expect discussion posts, quizzes, lecture tests, and lab homework every week!

had a great time in his class! i had bio at 8am, which would normally be bad but his lecture style is informative and fun. he's very charismatic and i would recommend anyone looking to do bio108 to take him.

I'm not going to lie this course can be difficult. It's a lot of homework, quizzes, and lectures every week, but considering it's a 4 credit class, I feel it makes sense. When it comes to labs Kurpis does his best to guide his students. If you do your work, and study for the midterm, and final you should be okay. He is also quick to answer emails.

There is a discussion board & homework on Pearson every week. Almost every week there's a quiz, exam, & lab activity. Do your labs on time because they are time consuming & you can't turn them in late. Lots of reading and work every week, can be overwhelming. But the teacher is amazing & replies fast. He will make sure you succeed in this class!

I wish he taught A&P so I could take him again! He's reasonable, funny, and super accessible. Sending him an email is basically like sending a text with how fast he responds sometimes. He's happy to explain anything in his office hours or by email and he doesn't make you feel dumb for asking dumb questions. Exams are 100% based on lecture notes.

Professor Kurpius answers emails immediately and is very helpful. For a hybrid class, this is critical. He is also pretty funny. Definitely recommend!

kurpius overall was a good teacher and super available outside of class. he encourages his students to email him with any questions about any of the material. i took the hybrid class so i never got to experience his in-person lectures, but his d2l page is set up nice. there are multiple online exams with the hybrid and quizzes. i'd take him again.

Loved having Prof. Kurpius. Very funny and makes everything very clear the minute you join the class. I took the hybrid and as long as you do all the work on time and study for the few in person exams you'll be fine. Discussion, quiz, and lab each week. Unit exams online and Lab exams in person. Loved him and would take him again. Very sweet.

Dana is a super chill and funny guy, had great talks and laughs throughout the semester. However, just know its VERY note heavy and if you want a good grade, you gotta study a ton and do all of the readings and homework.

He's a great professor, cares about his students and he has some interesting stories to tell related to bio. Even as a 108 student, his lectures got me engaged. Tests and lab assessments are easy if you briefly study what he'd lectured on for that unit. Lab attendance is mandatory, lecture was not.

Yes his class can be difficult but isa a science class so what do you expect. As long as you review the notes you should be OK. STUDY. Good grades don't come easy. Hes a great guy and makes class fun.

Professor Kurpius was a great teacher and made the online class so much fun. He was always available on email - literally 7 days a week. In fact, some of his responses were so fast it was almost like we were texting. It was nice to have an entire day to take quizzes and exams. Some of my other online professors would give you like a 2-hour window.

I took the 4-week online 108 with Prof K. He made a challenging class as good as possible given the class was 4-weeks. He was always in contact with us and helped me get et up with the online systems. I would take any class that Prof K teaches!

My first time taking a hybrid course and it was better than expected. The course was very easy and Professor K did a great job keeping everything in track. This is a perfect class for you if you can be organized and do lectures on your own time as he doesn't do it in class. Overall great class!
