Is very strict about showing up on time. Does not offer make-ups, however does give two bonus homework and allows you to drop your two lowest grades. Funny, in a quirky way. Great teacher, knows his stuff and fully explains all.

He is definitely one of the better teachers I've had. At first his class may seem a bit intimidating, but it's worth sticking with. I learned a lot from him and he is extremely helpful as well.

I have had him twice, he is an easy A just read for the quizzes. His tests are straight forward and he is a nice guy. He really wants students to learn something.

Had him for a webclass. His web class is simple. Just be sure to log in every other day at least and participate! He gives bonus assignments which is awesome in case you do miss assignments (which I did by accident) so grades are easy to make up. I am taking him again.

one of the easiest course in the world! the family project is interesting! 9 easy quizzes with only 5 MC questions(all on the book). I love this class and prof. so much!!!Take it and you will be happy

Don't bother trying. I took SOC12 online, posted intelligently to the discussion board multiple times per week, got all 100's on the quizzes and the assignments, and got an A- in both class participation and on the final, yet the other 100's must have had no effect, because I ended up with an A- for a final grade. Ridiculous.

Everyone is right, this guy is easy. Class was fun. The guy actually showed up to class in a dress once to demonstrate how people change their view of someone based on their appearance. He seemed kinda weird, but I liked the class.

I liked this professor. His work is not hard and he always responds to emails and is a quick grader which I really appreciate. I wanted to take his other Sociology class but it was too overfilled. The Human Relations class involves Communist Manifesto by Marx which is a bore. I would take him again.

Gives a lot of work all at once but has later due dates. Grades very fairly always willing to help and very quick grading and gives explanation on why the grade was given. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Great online class. Great professor. Very straighforward. Very quick to respond to questions and help. Weekly quizzes are timed but he gives lots of time to get done. If you do the assignments you will do well. Highly recommended. A+!

Took online class, he was awesome. He gave weekly quizzes, 4 easy papers, and a final rsearch paper. He grades fairly & quicly. I Highly recommend his class, I would definately another class with him!

Dana is an amazing professor. Uses the book mainly for quizzes which are easy if you just read the summary. His tests are pretty simple too, and he gives you bonus questions. As well as a bonus exam if you want and atleast 4-5 bonus homewors. He's a bit odd in an OCD kinda way but I loved him. Made the class enjoyable for a nursing major!

Prof Mayhew is amazing! Very helpful, and wicked cool with missing classes if you email him ahead of time. Will always make time to explain something you don't understand, VERY fair on grading! Gives opportunities to do extra credit to replace homework grades.

i took an online course with him and it was really easy.. he posts allot of discussion boards that i missed however it didnt affect my grade considering i got an A. If you want to take an online course that doesnt take up much of your time i suggest taking it with Dana.

By far, one of my favorite teachers! I took this class online. There is a great deal of work, but it is possible to get an A! Funny teacher!

Mayhew's the best damn professor period.

I took Professor Mayhew for SOC 212 and liked him so much I sought him out for SOC 252. He makes you work for your grade, but allows you to have thoughts of your own. He is, BY FAR, the best Professor I have ever had. If you are having trouble, utilize the supplemental instructor...that is what they are for!

Good Teacher and class. He knows criminology inside out. Very funny guy. His SI leader is really nice and helpful.

Great professor. So organized with everything online. Weekly quizes right out of book answers. Weekly discussion a couple of easy papers here and there and your final is a research paper which is better then a "written" final. I recommend to take him online for easy online course.

Took this class online, You must check it EVERYDAY and post ASAP. He does close the discussions, I missed a few myself 1 or 3 but did not affect grade.

Awesome teacher.. highly recommend. I am taking my 3rd SOC class with him online. As long as you log onto elearning 3 times a week- as the syllabus says, you will be fine. He does post random assignments but if you follow his attendance policy and log on, you will not have a problem. Lenient grader, responds to questions, common sense assignments..

I liked his class. He can be tough and makes you work for the grade. The si leader, Chris, helped me a lot. Ended up with an A.

I LOVED this course. His quizzes are to write down everything you remembered in the chapter. and the tests were some what okay. If you miss a couple of classes you don't get the assignments. I defiantly recommend him

You will definitely learn in his class as long as you read the textbook and do the discussion board assignments on time (its an online class). Overall very informative, and Kris is a great teaching assistant, she's helpful and responds quickly to your emails.

I took Human Relations online with Prof. Dana. He made the class really fun while maintaining an educational environment. It's hard to fail his class. He explains well and use logic very well. He is one of the best. I'd recommend him.

Online. You need to sign into eLearning at least three times Mon-Fri. He posts discussions and closes them within a day or two to keep the discussion moving. Several discussions for each topic, post to each TOPIC you are golden! Group project: Others' non-participation won't hurt your grade. Research Paper: start EARLY, go to the writing center

Best professor at BCC. He does make you work for the grade and it's an online class so you have to check in often. Otherwise it's a really interesting class, and Kris is the Si leader, she's as nice and helpful as everyone says. Definitely would take him again if I could.

What a professor! I loved this class. He's kind, insightful, provides so much feedback and support. It's like a new world has opened up to me because of this class and professor!! Take him. Plus you get an amazing supplemental instructor named Kris - she goes out of her way to help you succeed!

Really good teacher, test are easy just study he gives study guides.. read the chapter can even just read the summary for quizzes he gives you ten minutes to write whatever you remember write detailed 2 paragraphs you'll get an A for sure .. he's a bit strange sometimes but really nice

Professor was great, he was clear with what he wanted and the final was actually given to us basically in October as it was a book review, plenty of time to read and do the assignment. Group work was there but it was really just answering a question and nominating someone to post a group answer. Great class, would take another with Mayhew.

I took SOC 252 online with Mayhew. He gives great feedback on assignments and he always gets back to you in a timely manner if you have questions. There were a few extra credit assignments that he offered. Checking blackboard for assignments is essential if you take him online. I would definitely take another class with him.

This professor keeps class interesting and always knows how to spark students' imaginations. He did a great job at making the materials studied more tangible. He also put in a lot of extra effort to make the class enjoyable, interesting, and upbeat. Best of all, he organized a trip to the Lizzie Borden house.

I'm pretty late with this response but have been wanting to write a review. My professor was absolutely amazing and his work partner is Kristine Thompson who did everything in her power to for the students if they needed help. They are both very engaged in the student's and the class was great. I'm not to well with online courses but it was great!

there is 1 big writing assignment in each course. I enjoyed him so much the first time, I took another. The course moves along quite quickly and he gives excellent feedback within a timely manner.

Professor Mayhew is a great teacher made class fun and enjoyable. It was a online class. You have to check into class site one-two time a day. Discussion boards closes quickly.

I thought it was a great class to take. The professor is really nice and has a great SI names Kristine. She makes herself available for tutoring and makes sure to email back in a timely fashion. She will help in anyway she can to make the course as easy as it can be.

This is an online college course and participation matters. There is homework and quizzes every week so make sure you read the required materials. Follow his instructions and you will pass with a solid grade, if not, be prepared to struggle all semester. He responds to emails in a timely manner and accessible at campus by appointment.

This is a great professor. He makes lecture interesting and tells some jokes. He definitely knows his stuff.

Very interesting and he really focuses on helping people understand challenging concepts. Would take again in a heartbeat. His Si Leader Kris is a great asset to the class. She is so supportive and funny. Take him for all sociology classes if you can.

Prof Mayhew was by far one of my favorite professors over 25 years ago. I took several classes with him and I loved it. I remember one time he showed up to class in shorts and a torn band shirt and just sat there. He made you think about perception. He was always available to help and I even used him for a reference when for a job!

Professor Mayhew is one of the easiest Professor's I have had since attending BCC. I do not agree that he is a "tough grader" , he is by far the easiest, laid back teachers. I am currently taking his Sociology 256 class, which is awesome. Very nice man.

Professor Mayhew is a laid back Instructor who gives clear grading criteria, very responsive, caring Individual. Highly recommended

Everyone has different experiences, but mine with this professor was positive.He always responded to my emails and questions and left feedback on my submitted assignments.I missed a few assignments, but that was on me not the professor. He grades like any other professor, it was a summer term which is shorter there was a lot of homework as expected
