DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH NARTER!! I have heard there are plenty of great teachers for this course but if you take it with Narter you will regret it! She is a horrible teacher she reads a piece of paper as she goes through slides that dont even say what she is sayig. Her D2l quizes are so hard you get 10 min to take it. Just avoid her!
Take another instructor for psych or just find another INDV. I got an A on every test and 100% on every paper and still ended up with a B because of those stupid D2L quizzes. I had an 89 in the class and she doesn't round. She really doesn't know what she's talking about either because I've found her plagarized notes on other university sites.
Don't take pscyh with Narter just find another INDV. I got an A on every test, 100% on every paper, and I still ended up with a B in her class because of those stupid D2L quizzes. I actually had an 89% and she doesn't round. She did say some rude comments in class and she thought it was funny. Staying in her class was a huge mistake!
Let me just warn you, take another class! Not hard but she will not round and the D2L quizzes are pointless. You pretty much will be teaching yourself in this class.
I chose this class because I read the comments further down on this page. I expected the great teacher they were talking about. The lectures are boring and straight from the book. She is rude to the class. Attendance is mandatory. I got a B only because of the d2l quizzes. They are 5 points and there is no way to get 5/5. Most boring class ever.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. Take any class but hers. She is not at all concerned about the well-being of her students and makes no exceptions in her class no matter your personal situation. Easy class, but not even worth hearing her voice. She has to carry notes to know what to lecture.
Honestly thought the class was super easy! Tons of office hours, show up, do the readings & the d2l quizzes-aren't that bad if u actually read like u r suppose to. The tests r material straight from the book that she covers in class so u get exposed to the material twice. ALOT of things get dropped so it amazes me how anyone complains.
This class is essentially very easy, for the quizzes, its called Google, try it. Just search for the whole question in Google and you find it, and the answer, 95% of time. For those who had 100% on everything, supposedly, I would expect you to be smart enough to use more resources than the book...
Super easy class. Not an awesome teacher. Lectures are straight from the book, not creative or interesting at all. Her voice is annoying. I had a mild interest in psychology, but her annoyingly high pitched voice made it difficult to sleep in the class, and she never dimmed the lights. Got an A. Study the night before tests and you'll be ok.
Relatively easy, she read notes straight off a piece of paper and hardly kept attention. Half the class would talk while she tried to lecture, so it was a bit chaotic. Clicker points are everyday so attendance is kind of mandatory..but all power points are online.
Easy A if you show up and read required material. She drops your lowest scores which most teachers don't. Tests and quizzes are straight forward and directly out of readings and lecture.
Really nice and an drops lowest scores I would definitely recommend this class
I love this professor! She is very nice which makes you want to listen to her. This class was my easiest. This class is the equivalent to PSYCH 101, and we all know UA psych classes are the easiest!
GREAT Professor! Really easy class, and she drops A LOT of scores so its a really easy A, and the lectures aren't horrible, and if you do, it's easy to learn the stuff because its straight out of the book. And you can miss 8 lectures! I definitely recommend taking the class! :)
Dana is a wonderful professor. That is all there is to say.
Great teacher, keeps the class interesting. Extremely easy, a lot of drops. Highly recommend.
Easy Class. She drops a ton of grades. Tests are all multiple choice. Easy A.
A lot of flexibility built in to the class as far as grading and attendance. The material is presented in a way that is clear and interesting. TAs L. Focella and Z. Hohman are both very helpful.
You only use your books when you take the quizes online, so just borrow your friends. I LOVED this class, it made me want to change my major to psych. You either have to go to these experiments on your own time or write a paper. I did the experiments and they were actually kind of fun. If you need an INDV credit, DEFINITELY take this one. :)
I LOVE HER! There are many opportunities for success and she is very passionate about the subject, her tests are exactly what you expect them to be and she is very reasonable!
It is impossible to fail this class. I tried.
Very sweet lady! Passionate about what she teaches. The subject was very interesting! Made me want to major in Psychology. Definitely take it if you're interested in stuff like this or just need an INDV. The answers for Exams are right off the reviews they do in class. Just show up to class, and do what you're supposed to & you'll get an A!
The only class I enjoyed going to during my freshman year.
Seriously, I chose this proffessor from this website, because she got a good review...you guys screwed me over. This class is ALL reading, and nothing else. You have a crap load of online quizs and only 10 min. to complete them with only 2 tries and they change every time. Don't waste your time, especially if you are an audio or visual learner.
the quizzes are so hard, the exams are also hard because she doesnt give you enough time. writing assignments are easy- and she drops your lowest quizzes, papers, and one exam. I will probably get a B because the tests are so hard (they are online but are VERY hard), i wouldnt recommend this class..
Not sure why this teacher was given such good reviews from prior student. I have sent the most respectful emails only to be bombarded with rude/petty responses. Extremely rude woman, DON'T waste your time with this class. Quizes/tests are nearly impossible to get an A on with the amount of time she allows.
I ended up with a B (88%) in this class, but it was my fault. I did not study and read enough. The quizzes are somewhat difficult. You get two chances to take them. I would always skim through my book quickly and got pretty good scores. She likes teaching this class and makes it interesting. I learned a lot. I liked it.
Narter is a really easy professor and is fun; she's kind of cuckoo, but she's a good professor. Her class is so easy that the textbook is hardly needed. She drops several scores at the end of the course.
People, if you got anything less than an A in the class its your fault. I got low B on the exams & 4 or 5 on the quizzes. If you don't read the chapter thats your problem, its easy if you read the chapter. Dont blame her for your awful habits. This class is simple & easy. She drops the lowest of every category. Narter gives pts back on everything!
If you want to wake up at 9am and hear an annoying voice, take this class. And make sure you attend class, all the time. She does clicker every class.
Dr. Narter is an amazing professor. Her exam can be a bit difficult though. She wants you to understand the true conspet of the class and her test questions are worded really weird. There are 4 writing assignments which are SUPER easy. She drops 3 quiz scores, 1 test score and 1 writing assignment. Also clicker questions and some are extra credit!!
Dr. Narter is a very mean teacher. She does not curve. EVEN IF YOU ARE .5 OFF FROM AN A. Therefore, clearly she has no compassion or understanding for students. Her tests are not as easy as you would think. You must study. Oh and she has the most annoying voice ever.
Had her for Human Memory and 2 other classes She isn't as hard as everyone says Easy to get an A just show up to class cuz she uses clickers to take attendance You can get alot of extra credit with the clickers by answering questions correct in lecture Tells you exactly whats on the tests just study everything on the study guides and youll get an A
She is a great professor. She keeps the students attention and is very easy to listen to. She explains things very well and includes students requiring interaction from those who are willing. It's a fun class. I loved it. It's a very easy class and so fun to learn about.
Fairly easy class. She will curve the exams a little because she words the questions to where they are quite confusing or can be misconstrued. Tough exams but you can get extra credit, overall should be easy to get an A and very easy to get a B. For me she was hard to listen to either because of her voice or the fact that she spoke like a teenager.
I feel like some people got her tests and others didn't. Though she made it easy to get a B grade but you really needed to understand her tests in order to get an A. She was very picky and a rule follower. She gives you bonus points if you follow the lecture. VERY different from her psy 101 class. So be prepared.
If you want a really easy class, take this one. She drops the lowest score for exams and papers, the five lowest quiz scores, the seven lowest clicker scores (meaning you don't really need to go to class all the time), and ALL of her quizzes and tests are done online. If you actually want to learn though, she's not that great.
She taught the material in a very boring manner. Attendance would be taken through the clicker.. so good idea to attend class regularly. I believe you can miss about 5 classes without getting any points deducted. Share the book with a friend and do the quizzes together. only enjoyable part of the class are the talent shows every other Friday i thin
Loved this class. She drops the lowest everything! Tests are online and you can do them with a group which makes it easier. Papers are cake. Clicker questions is an easy way to get points, but you have to attend class for them. Lecture is not that boring. She's real funny and really nice. I'd take this class again if I could.
Fairly good teacher. Lectures were boring. But she gives a lot of extra credit. Quizzes and tests heavily draw from the chapters in the textbook.
Super is GEN ED. you can miss class 9 times without penalty she drops your lowest quiz score. The only thing is her tests are kinda tricky so if you can take them with friends because it is online.
Narter is a very boring teacher, and she makes you reda the chapters and take a quiz on it before she teaches it, which was really annoying. Easy Gen Ed, but very boring!
If you want an easy teacher for an easy A in research methods or social psy, you'll love her. If you actually care about your education at all you will be very annoyed. Worst teacher I have ever had. Hint: she is an ego-maniac, so flatter her, agree with her, don't question anything, any you will do great!
This class is really easy. She lets you take group tests and the writing assignments are a joke. The class can be a little boring, but with any effort it is an easy A.
Amazing professor. Very very nice and she makes the class very easy to understand. Take this class, it's hard NOT to get an A.
Perhaps the easiest A you will ever receive. Dana is, however, an awfully humdrum lecturer, and were it not for her staccato hand motions and hair flipping, I surely would have stop going. She appears to know little about social psychology, and depends heavily on ostensibly disorganized lecture notes. It is also pointless to buy the book.
This is a SUPER EASY class. I would get the book just in case but don't worry too much about it. The best part is watching her spaz out every once and awhile. She doesn't really get mad but she flips her hair around and talks really fast. I caught up on facebook during class!
Interesting subject, but teacher does not respect students properly. In this class, you are just another face in the crowd. Make sure to do experiment requirements because those are super important.
This class is so easy and so much extra credit is given; it's just sad if you don't get an A. Dr. N is a great lecturer, and makes the material very interesting. Do not buy the textbook, all of the info is on her slides. Take this class!
This is a pretty easy class. The lectures are pretty straight forward. The book was pretty interesting at times. It really helped me to go to the review sessions before the exam. Clicker points were easy to get. I look forward to taking more psych classes.
Class is very easy all tests online and 3 one page papers. The class can be boring at times but it's not that bad. She really knows her stuff and is helpful.
Tests are hard but you can take them with friends because they are online and can be taken anywhere. Some questions on quiz and tests are online just be sure to search them by typing it out because you cannot copy from D2L. Papers are pretty simple. Everything is dropped practically take this class for an easy A.
Horrible. She doesn't care about any other classes that you're taking, as long as you do what she wants for HER class. Difficult to keep up with her workload if you're taking more than 2 other classes. Tests are difficult, but taken online so you can do them with friends. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
AWFUL! She is not helpful at all expects you to understand everything. She is very rude. Also not good lecture feels like she is just reading and is all over the place. The quizzes are online but they are timed. Way to much material for every quiz. She doesnt review for quizzes or anything. Don't take her if you don't have to.
I've had her for 3 classes. I am now convinced that she truly IS RUDE. Don't ask q's in class she will cut you off and continue on with her slides even if you still don't get it.I gave her the benefit of the doubt since I had never spoken to her directly but I am now convinced that she is the RUDEST most CONDESCENDING professor I have EVER had.
She's a good teacher. clicker questions are nice. Just go to class, take notes and listen and you will pass. She usually says the answer for clicker questions before the question comes up. Reading the book is helpful, you will want the book for the graphs. It helps ALOT furing the tests.
Ms. Narter is a good teacher. The tests are a bit challenging because they are timed. Even though the tests are open book and open note online the questions are challenging and you have to study to stay on top of it. There is a group project that helps make up for the lowest dropped test.
I have to say I really do not like her teaching style. She reads directly off notes she holds in her hands the whole class, giving the impression that she really doesn't now what she is talking about. More than once I've seen her read graphs wrong. This class was very easy but I was hoping to be challenged. Clickers suck. Overall disappointing.
I got a final grade of 89.8% and she would not round it. Tests are super confusing and class is not interesting
I personally really liked Dr. Narter. She kept the class interested by using fun examples. Class is very easy because tests are online and open note.
Dr. Narter has clicker question every day, so attendance is mandatory. She drops the lowest 6. The way her class is set up is she has you read an entire chapter (usually between 30 and 60 pgs) and take a 5 question quiz on it. You can take each quiz twice. AFTER you take the quiz she goes over the chapter in class. There are 3 tests.
Her lectures did not help with the tests. Her tests are application problems and are worded funny. Easy class if you stay on top of the reading and take the quizzes. Attendance is mandatory and don't leave early because if she sees you leave, she'll give the class clicker questions so she knows not to give you clicker points
Incredibly easy class. Attendance is mandatory, just pay attention and take notes. Easy A!
Dr. Narter herself is kinda hard to listen to in lectures because she's a bit repetative and jumos from subject to subject. Lectures are mandatory because she gives participation points. She gives quizzes on the book so you have to get it. However, it's super easy and interesting. Just show up and do what you gotta do.
Decent class. I dont really care for psychology but this class was sort of interesting. Attendance is taken with clickers, quizzes were super easy and the tests could be taken from anywhere online with notes/books/friends. Overall a decent gen ed
As long as you do all the readings and attend class (just to get the points), you'll do fine. The lectures are interesting, but are based off of the book, so you could get away with just reading the book. The Dr. Narter really loves what she teaches and makes the class fun. I would recommend the class to anyone who is interested in psych.
I think Dr. Narter is great. I'm not a psych major but I learned a lot of useful information. The class was small so we did a lot of fun activities to help us learn the material. She even brought us cake one day! Tests are challenges, but open note/book. I definitely recommend this course if you need a Tier 1 Indiv.
I love Professor Narter! She is so funny, and a really great teacher all-around. Taking this class from her definitely got me interested in psychology.
Sitting up front and being apart of the lecture will help you out immensely with Dana. My two issues with her lecturing approach are that she reads exclusively from the slides, and the slides add little to the book info. This is great come exam time, but bad if you have a true interest in the subject since it inhibits spontaneous discussions.
As honors credits go, this class was both easy and interesting. Dr. Narter is not only easy, clear, and nice, but she also has a great sense of humor and is very helpful as long as you reach out for it. Her tests aren't conventional, they apply what you've learned rather than simply spewing information back at her. Loved this class!
She is AWFUL!!! HORRIBLE! I have no idea how she is even allowed to teach a university level course. She is unhelpful in every aspect of the word. Her quizzes/exams make absolute no sense and are ridiculously hard unless you have some kind of background in the subject. AVOID!!!!!
Easy class. Quiz on every chapter BEFORE she lectures so you must read chapter. Attendance mandatory by clicker pts but lectures are basically useless, same info as book. 3 exams all online.
Awesome teacher. I think I loved the class, but I'm not sure.
This class is not an easy A, but def. an easy B. The class itself is not too hard, but her exams are application based, so they are not the easiest. I have seen her be rude to people, and she lectures by reading a paper.
This class was easy and very interesting. She gives all the tests and quizzes online. There are clicker points which she sometimes uses for extra credit. She also is very passionate about psychology and made class interesting and fun. Definitely recommend!
i found this class to be very easy despite not paying attention but many other students thought she was an awful teacher and wasn't helpful at all. I think whether you understand the material is much more important than who teaches it
The class was boring, everything fairly easy though. Online homework is a breeze. Quizzes and tests all online. Lectures were hit and miss, more miss. She can come across as being a bit scattered. The powerpoint slides were walls of text, not very engaging at all. Clickers used for participation, big part of the grade. Show up, you'll be fine.
In this class you pretty much study off the powerpoints and her lecture consists of everything on the slides and all the info there is from the text. You have to work hard for this class for sure with the readings and Bioportal modules but if you go to class, read, and study for the exams (easy) you'll do good. Shes a good teacher. Great Class!
Attendance is taken by responded clicker questions. Online homework, quizzes, and tests and are all open book/ notes. Everything is clear. 9 experiment credit points required to receive a grade in the class.
she is a horrible teacher. She goes over things that arent even on the test and she makes you use clickers, but if you don't get the right answer then you dont get credit so it is so stupid. tests are online and minimal work except if you dont read the chapters before class then you miss the clicker questions and lose all the points
If you answer a question incorrectly don't assume she will be nice about it. And when no one wants to answer she will tell the class how we all should have known the answer because it is so simple! Frustrating professor in that aspect, but overall her classes are easy and long as you read and go to class.
It is pretty easy. She drops a lot of assignments and stuff but you have to go to class to get an A. All the tests are online but timed so you can just use your book and take it with others. Pretty easy class though in the end.
The class itself is easy but its basically taught like an online class but with clickers. She is really scatter brained, also if there's a question in her lecture that the entire class gets wrong and doesn't understand she will just say well you guys should know this I don't understand why you don't get it, but won't explain any further
Class isn't very hard but she isnt a great teacher. Unclear at times, very boring and not willing to change anything. Doesn't respond to e-mails in a very helping way and usually starts class by listing things she doesn't like that the class is doing. Attendance is taken by clickers but the points aren't huge and I got a B only going 7 or 8 times.
Dana Narter is awful. If you don't understand the material, she will squawk about how she doesn't understand why her students aren't getting it, and then refuse to explain the concept. Several students have called her out, and she has just shrugged it off and tells us to deal with it. She's extremely incompetent.
Had 3 N courses(I got a curved A)she's the hardest, most sarcastic prof ever had.Easiness rating here?Maybe peeps don't want to admit its a hard course.Even her TA's agree, ask em!Daily trick questions, convoluted questions on things you haven't covered yet.Says we're all spoiled.Brave student confronted her&got applause.Has"stings"2 pop cheaters.
She is rude and very sarcastic in her emails. Attendance is mandatory and the class itself is very boring with lots of clicker questions. She is not very pleasant, wouldn't recommend taking this class. Overall the class is not too difficult and no homework.
ALL tests are difficult but are open book and done on D2L! Very easy class she drops your lowest exam, journal, homeworks etc... I forgot to take the final and still received an A. If you dont receive a good grade it is your own fault. if your reading this at the beginning of the semester, just make sure to get everything done and you'll be golden
I would try to find one good aspect about Dana, but there's not one good quality about herself and teaching skills. She gets easily frustrated and takes it out on her students.Unpleasant person, lectures are boring, voice is irritating. A nice prof definitely gains your interest in a class, thought I loved psychology, but she ruined my outlook forever
Very easy she drops plenty of assignment. Which help a lot, test are fair you have to read to due good on test.I never read so i got 70 on my first test 60 on the second,72 on 3rd, and a 93 on the last and still got an A in the class. Go to class she gives etra-credit cliker questions that really helped me out.
The lectures are really boring and long but you have to go because there are so many clicker questions that you lose points every time you miss. The only stuff is the worst part of the class and it's not really hard, just annoying. Most quizzes you can look up online so that's pretty helpful. She's really nice and easy going but extremely boring.
Dr. Narter is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Many people don't like her because she can be strict and sarcastic. She is very welcoming, easy going and fun to talk to. She is always there to help, and she has a very bubbly personality. If you cheat, send her rude emails, or act disrespectful in class, then you will see her bad side.
She made the class interestingvery easy and is very funny. Theres 4 easy open noteopen book online tests (1 gets dropped), easy 5 question d2l quizzes (2 or 3 gets dropped),but participation via clicker points is mandatory so you to have to attend lectures and click in (doesn't need to be correct4 do get dropped), and some extra credit.
Quizes are 5 questions with 10 minutes given, but each chapter covers 40pages in the book so you never know what points to focus on! Reads off slides and her packet a lot (which doesn't make sense).
Dana Narter, she is a HORRIBLE professor. She is really sarcastic, rude and expects us to know the material, that she has not explained. She reads off of her slidespackage and rushes through some which often do not make sense. Attendance is mandatory since she uses clickers. Avoid her by taking her classes online if you really have to!!!!
Dr. Narter really wasn't my favorite professor. She can be quite sarcastic and demeaning at times towards students, and I couldn't always understand her when she taught. I had an easier time understanding the material during review sections with the TAs. Unfortunately the classes I had with her were in my major, or I would have avoided her.
Not a great professor can be rude and sarcastic. Lectures are long slides aren't very detailed. Assignments fairly easy but a lot of exams and quizzes. Quizzes before ever chapter 10 mins for 5 questions. Exams 50 mins for 50 questions difficult due to lengthy questions. Group assignment waste of time. 4 hw assignments some extra credit. Must READ
Poor teacher. If you ask a question she will answer it. Clarity not bad. She tries to make her tests difficult. Her classes are boring but you have to go for the participation, I just hung out on facebook the entire time. Just an an overall needless class but I would avoid her. If she asks your opinion, she doesn't actually want it.
This class was very easy. 4 Exams, but she drops the lowest one so I didn't have to take the final. (4th exam) I got B's on all of them and still got a high A. Clicker attendance, so show up to class. Extra credit clicker questions are helpful for points! This class was simple, and interesting! Definitely recommend taking it!
The class is easy, there's extra credit and she drops your lowest test and some quizzes. Narter is one of my least favorite professors though. I got an easy A but had to suffer through boring, useless lectures full of condescending remarks and material as dry as a tortoise using a blowdryer on the outskirts of Tatooine during a sand storm.
This class will help your GPA! You just have to show up to get the clicker point, you don't have to get them right. There is 4 exams the lowest gets drop, you have to participant in experiments. Take this class!
Dr. Narter teaches a variety of psych classes so you're bound to have her as a professor. If you do the work, you get an A. Don't be lazy. Tests are online, and don't have to be done in the actual classroom. She has a dry sense of humor, so don't be a baby about it. She doesn't hold your hand.
She's pretty chill. Go to class, clicker required, and pay attention and you'll do fine. She gives plenty of extra credit, assignments are easy and there are plenty of office hours. I'd pick her class over many other teachers in the psych department.
Did not enjoy her very much, I had her for developmental psychology. She has powerpoint slides but just reads off a paper the whole time. And this maybe just something that bothers me personally, but she says 'ummm' a lot and it really throws me off. She's very sarcastic and if you don't know very much about a subject she makes you feel inferior.
Literally the worst professor I have ever had, not sure why she hasn't been fired at the University of Arizona. Horrible, doesn't care about students and could care less how students do. Stay away from this teacher.
Her class is composed of lecture participation points (with clickers) and on some random extra credit days, you get one extra point for getting it correct. She is horrible at explaining and goes off on tangents, I honestly only showed up to the classes because of the points. THE QUIZ ANSWERS ARE ALL ONLINE. You dont even need the $100 book!
She was extremely excited about the topic, which made me extremely excited about it as well. Show up and take notes and you should have no problem getting an A in the course.
The class is mandatory to take for psych majors, but it's definitely an annoying class. If you read the book, you'll learn more for that than lectures. Lectures are sort of mandatory though since she gives points for clicker participation and extra credit for answering random questions correctly. One rap group project.
PSY 101 was the easiest course to take yet. 2 quiz grades are dropped, 1 exam grade is dropped, and there's no official "final exam." Going to class matters for extra credit clicker points, so it's overall an easy A.
Narter is one of the best professors Ive had the class is easy all of the tests are online & she drops the lowest but she gives scenarios, & it isn't the way she explains things in class. You have to participate in experiments & clickers are used in every lecture, so go to class. She knows what she is talking about & post power points online.
The class concept isn't too bad, but wow...I have never had a professor I just straight up didn't like until Dana. I'm a third year, 4.0 student and this class might be my first B. I can't even show up to class because she is so rude and condescending. Pretty sure she just rereads the book. I found the tests pretty challenging and tricky.
She assigns a quiz for every chapter. Questions are straight from the reading, but you will not pass if you don't read them. Her exams are TOUGH & long. You must really know the material to do well. Very short amount of time to complete a very long test. She favorites students & asks for your opinion but does not care one bit about it.
I did not enjoy this class. Avoid her if you can. The material is challenging but doable, but her condescending, sarcastic remarks towards her class are nothing short of bullying. Very sporadic in her lectures, and expects you to remember it even though she doesn't keep on a clear track.
I don't like Dr. Narter as a teacher, and this class in particular was not great. She can be pretty boring, and the tests are hard because she added a short answer portion and they only expect one exact answer. She doesn't grade, her TA's do. Pop papers are what the writing emphasis is. 3 tests, drops one, and a final group project.
Dr. Narter is helpful outside of class, but her in-class lectures were somewhat dry. Exams (3) were online with both short-answer and multiple-choice questions, and were not TOO difficult, though they were tricky at times. 6 "Pop Papers" were randomly given in class and a group projectpaper was due at the end of the term. Overall, easy A.
She rushes through her lectures and doesn't seem to care about Cog Dev. One time she forgot her notes and was struggling through the lecture with just the powerpoints which barely have any info. However, this class is an easy A if you do the study guides for the tests (open noteonline)
Research Methods is already a boring class on its own but Dr. Narter doesn't make it any better. She's kind of rude and condescending towards her students, often in her lecture. If you don't understand something it's best to ask a TA first, because Narter most likely won't be helpful. She has clicker points every class so attendance is a MUST!
This is one of Narter's better classes. I've taken her for multipl courses and her lectures are often way more helpful than the reading. The book she uses isn't the greatest but she explains it well . Going to class isn't essential but since she has pop papers it's better that you go every class. You'll do better , trust me I know
Tests are online and uses info from both the textbook and the lectures. Clicker questions every class. There are short homework assignments for each chapter and chapter quizzes. We had to write a rap for our group project.
Interesting class. Doesn't go too in-depth, just covers a lot of theories and research which is pretty typical of undergrad psych classes. Attending the lectures is helpful, there are chapter quizzes, and she gives "pop papers" but you can use your notes. We had to invent a children's game for our group project.
Worst teacher I've ever had and by far the rudest. She doesn't care about her students and can be extremely condescending. She tends to ramble and studder which gets really annoying. Good news is the class is easy if you read and study. Know the material well for exams because she does not give you enough time for the amount of questions
I took her for PSY 101, the class overall was informative and not too difficult. Lectures could be fun and engaging. With that said, Dr. Narter is rude, condescending, and just plain mean sometimes. Give her respect, you likely won't get it back.
She can be super rude but the class is easy
Narter is a good psych teacher. The tests and quizzes are all on D2L. Overall, very easy intro to psych class. There are clicker questions during every lecture so class is pretty much mandatory. Although, she does drop your 4 lowest clicker points, assigns extra credit. She also drops one exam grade, and 3 quiz grades. Easy A!
All tests and quizzes are online. Super easy class, homework online every week, but you turn it in online through a module. You can miss a certain amount of classes with no points docked and she drops a few quizzes and a test making only 3 test mandatory.
She's a horrible teacher. Doesn't care at all about her students. Doesn't take time to respond to emails and if she does she's very rude and vague. Her exams suck and she does clicker questions every day for participation. Overall I would find another teacher.
Dr. Narter is the most condescending professor I have had. Which is odd because she's a psych professor so she should probably be more careful with how rude and arrogant she is. The class is basic, like a 101 should be. Take it online if you can. The tests are applied situations, not vocab based. However, the class is easy if you can stand her.
Dr. Narter can be blunt, but overall she has very clear criteria and she drops lots of quizzes as well as one exam
Overall an easy class. 6 in class pop quizzes but the lowest two are dropped and they're easy if you pay attention. 4 tests and one is dropped. Worst part was the group paper because groups and papers just never mix well. She's nice and all lectures are online so skipping class occasionally won't hurt.
Very knowledgable professor. Attendance isn't required but she gives 6 pop quizzes throughout the semester (only counts 4 of them). The only other assignments are 4 tests (drops lowest score) and one group paper, which isn't that bad. The tests are pretty difficult, but she usually curves them. Gives hardly any extra credit.
While I found Dr. Narter to be very nice outside of class, her classes are difficult. I have had her for psych 340 and 326 and it's always my most challenging class to get a good grade because her lectures don't seem to explicitly cover what will be on the exams. Taking notes is almost pointless. My advice is read the book and hope for the best.
If you show up and get the clicker points you'll do just fine. You can take the exams from home with all of your notes.
She can be quite rude at times but she does know her material. If you need help check the syllabus or ask one of the TAs as she can get a bit frustrated. The homework is online and are not usually that hard. Exams are little tough just make sure you really try to pay attention to the question. Go to the reviews usually those helped as well.
The class itself was pretty easy. When my friends emailed her with questions regarding homework, she responded w/ short responses and was rude. Although she was hostile when she had to repeat something she already said or when no one participated, the lectures made sense. The tests are easy as long as you do the launch pad activities.
She has her strengths. For a start, her grades are clear, and rarely do I see her disorganized. She's intellectually gifted in the area of psychology, so she's fairly knowledgeable. There's a high chance that if you ask the same question, she'll respond to you rudely through email, so just talk to her during class. Not the best, but good enough.
Dr. Narter was by far the worst professor I've ever had at U of A. Her lectures seem straightforward and easy to understand but once you get to the test she chooses to ask questions about material that wasn't covered in class. One of the answer options will be something said in class but it will always be incorrect because she actively tricks you.
Dr. Narter is extremely rude and I also had to teach myself the content from the book. She was very disorganized and even questioned herself during lecture. Her tests do not reflect what was covered in class and they are meant to trick you instead of fairly testing your knowledge. She also talks about her kids way too much in class.
There isn't a lot of homework mostly reading. Four exams online and final but one exam is dropped, although they can be difficult. Lecture is really dry and boring! Pop quizzes and re-read posted lectures online.
She is the worst teacher at the U of A, besides her being rude all the time when you ask for help she is not a great teacher. Her tests are so hard and she does not give us enough time for them. Anyways do not take care!
She uses clicker questions so you need to be in class. I intend to get an A which took some work and staying up to date on material. I don't love listening to her talk in lectures because her voice is rather grating and she can be a little abrasive. I'm not personally offended by her, I just prefer a different teaching style.
Do not take her class! She's awful at making test questions which makes things tricky. I regret taking her class so much because her voice alone makes you go insane.
Knows her stuff and does an OK job at explaining most of the material but some of it isn't easy. The book is a must. Clicker questions daily. Quizzes often. 4 hw assignments. 4 exams, 1 dropped. The worst part of the class were her exams. No study guide, not enough time & tough questions. Expect to work HARD for that good grade. Beware: can be rude
Dr. Narter doesn't treat any of her students with respect. She will literally laugh in your face and make you feel uncomfortable. Her slides are impossible to understand and lectures are not coherent. She doesn't grab anyones attention, everyone looks like they're in pain during her lectures. I would not recommend a class with her.
She is very aggressive, not helpful.
Dr. Narter is not the most helpful teacher and I felt that most of the time she didn't even want to be in the classroom. However all of her tests are online and open book/notes so it is not hard to get an A in this class. She grades attendance based on random pop assignments so attendance is pretty important
Narter is disrespectful to students she outright says "I don't understand why students aren't getting these concepts." I'll tell you why students don't understand the concepts... her teaching methods are worthless. lectures are boring, and useless. Don't bother looking at the slides because they don't help at all. Rent the book.
Narter is a pretty great teacher, she offers extra credit in the very beginning if you're taking her 101 class. Lots of free points, but textbook is manditory. However , you can use the internet and the textbook while taking any and all quizzes and tests so an A is not too difficult as long as you know what to search for each question.
Interesting lecturer w/ topics and examples. Tests are not simple recall, has lots of scenarios, but aren't really that difficult. Have to get the book b/c quizzes on chapter before it's covered in class. 1 drop test, cumulative final you cannot drop, clicker point attendance, 4 HWs. Blunt and honest, not so much "rude", and pretty funny sometimes.
One of the rudest, most condescending professors I have ever had. Lectures are copied verbatim from the text, but she is incomprehensible with as often as she jumps around and breaks off on tangents. Berates students when they do not get the correct answers on clicker/exam questions.
Keeps her lectures lighthearted.
Although she is very smart and good in the area of Psychology, she is very rude and get's frustrated whenever help or questions are being asked. If she has an issue with a student via email, she will express the student's issue very carelessly during lecture which i find very displeasing and embarrassing upon the student. very disappointing.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Avoid. Take it in the summer. a community college, or a different planet. But please avoid. She is an awful person. Belittles you if you do not understand and becomes upset when the class is struggling. She should be reprimanded.
The course itself is fairly easy, but Narter isn't the nicest. She can be very rude and condescending toward students when they ask a question or answer a question incorrectly. The preceptors are usually helpful, though, so you can usually get away with never interacting with Narter, and then the course is fine.
Dana is a bit rude and very impatient. She gets irritated when a question is asked more than once or if you ask a question at all; she is very condescending. The online homework is very easy, however there is a lot of reading. Her tests are easy if you study a lot as well. The research requirement is annoying, but easy to finish. She talks too loud
The course itself was not too bad, review sessions were helpful. But Dr. Narter was by far the most disrespectful teacher I have had at the U of A. Any time someone would ask a question in class, she would blatantly make them feel like they had no idea what they were talking about. If you HAVE to take this class, avoid her, talk to the preceptors.
It really surprises me that she is in the field of Psychology. She needs to be brought to the Deans attention. Not a good professor. A GOOD professor teaches with passion, helps lead you to the answer and does not belittle you (as she has), makes material understandable. Her lectures are read off a script, word by word from the text book.
Tracks attendance, but everything on her lecture slides can be found in the textbook, usually word for word. I do not recommend trying to contact her via email, as she tends to be very abrasive in her responses. Can be disrespectful towards students.
I would NOT take this class. There are clicker questions everyday and in-class assignments given randomly and frequently. She is condescending and makes students feel dumb. She will give clicker questions and literally say, "You guys probably won't get this." One of the worst classes I have taken at the U of A. Tests are online but minimal time
This class is not difficult at all. Tests are open book and open note. There is clicker participation every class period so if you don't show up you miss points, but her lectures come directly from the book so you aren't missing much if you don't show up. Can be kind of condescending sometimes, but has funny lectures and good real life examples.
Incredibly rude and condescending. She uses a faulty and error-ridden system called 'Launchpad' for most of the homework and takes her anger out on students when it's acting up. DO NOT EMAIL HER, she is both unhelpful and abrasive in her responses. She will either blame you for not understanding, or make you feel stupid. Avoid this woman.
you can tell she knows her stuff but the lectures are her just reading off of slides which is so boring and if you don't go and answer the clicker questions, you won't pass. she has little empathy and patience with students but the class was not hard to get an a in if you do everything you're told. open book tests.
Dr. Narter is probably one of the worst professors I've had. She laughs at students when they raise their hand to ask a question or give an answer. She belittles her students. Easy class but she makes it miserable. Her lectures are all over the place and your better off reading the book. Avoid taking this class with her.
This was the easiest 101 class. Dana is my favorite professor here as she tries to make it interesting. The tests were all online and extremely easy. You use clickers everyday but as long as you answer most of the questions (they can be wrong) you get full credit.
Dana is my favorite professor. You use clickers and you get full points as long as you answer most of the questions regardless if they are right or wrong. If you get a question right (one she chooses) then you get extra credit. The tests are all online and if you study from the book they are easy. Group assignments are clear if you took notes.
Dana is a great professor. Tests are open notes and online. Unlike her other classes, this one doesn't use clickers so there aren't as many easy points but it may have just been the classroom we were in this semester. I supplement my class notes with book notes for the test which makes them easy.
This class was not terribly difficult as long as you study for the exams and show up to class to get participation points. Beware of asking questions though, because Dr Narter is often condescending with her responses. The TAs are much more helpful and nice. If a different section of this class is open, take that one instead.
This class is an easy B, but a hard A. As long as you go to class and read each chapter you should be able to get a B. Tests are open note and open book. Dr. Narter is somewhat inappropriate. She has trouble with staying on topic. Befriend the TAs, they are there because they got an A in the class the semester prior.
An A is more than achievable if you keep things simple. 1. Pay attention to due dates 2. Go to class, bring your clicker -( don't bother taking notes or updating your snapchat ) just press the button (for the points). 3. The text book is a scam - focus on the concepts in PPT and the real-life application of this class.
Don't take this. Horrible teacher. Condescending. Terrible voice. Class average for tests are low 60's. Each chapter quiz is 40 pages. Study guides don't help.
She has a terrible voice. Quizes and Exams are really hard. Study guide is not worth it at all. every exam would be on Friday morning, so if you like to go out on Thirsty Thursday, Good Luck. I think if the class average is below 70, she should consider on her teaching skills. Lectures are so boring.
This class was a joke. You need the textbook because there's online modules, but for the exams and quizzes you could easily find everything on Quizlet. I disagree with all the comments that Narter is overly rude or condescending, she's fine, but she can be quite obnoxious in the early morning. Overall seriously an Easy A and she's nice but annoying
I always hear bad things about professor Narter, but to be honest I after taking her class, I don't understand what the big negative deal is about her. I personally loved her class so much I took for 2 semesters. Easy lecture, so easy I skipped a lot. Read the textbook. Open note tests. In class quizzes by clickers. Clickers for attendance. Easy A
This teacher was not the best. I went to class and answered the clicker questions, took the online tests, and did the homework. This class is an easy A but other than that, it wasn't my favorite. I would take it again just because it required minimal effort but otherwise, it was probably my least favorite class I have taken at this school.
There are 5 in-class writing assignments, no warning for when. Four tests, one is dropped. A group movie project, not too awful. Sounds alright? WRONG! She is the most annoying lecturer I've ever had. Have you ever heard a professor say um, uh, or like 211 times in one 50 minute lecture? No? Lucky you! Don't suffer, avoid Dana at all costs
An easy A-B grade is feasible if you read the chapters & show up to class - especially on days where there's an in-class assignment, performance grade or quiz due, which is why participation matters. Also, don't expect her to be accommodating or understanding because she is not; she speaks condescendingly to you personally & class collectively.
Class is really easy; it's just a matter of tolerating the instructor. PPTs are unclear and example-ridden, so the book is useful to fill in blanks. You must be in class to gets points for the quizzes, performance grades, and in-class assignments - on clickers. The only nice thing are exams are online and open everything - just watch the time.
Extremely easy class, need to show up for clicker points but can miss a lot of days considering how much extra credit she offers. Exams are take home and all answers are online. Homework and weekly quizzes are a breeze since answers are online too. One group project, very easy can finish project in about two hours or less.
The only reason to go to class is to get attendance points because you won't be learning anything; you learn everything on your own and just get quizzed on information in class. Her quizzes and tests are open notes yet no one seems to do that well because of the confusing phrasing and our lack of preparation. Her teaching style is just lecturing.
Love this woman! She's so funny and sweet, and cares about students
I have taken a couple classes from Narter, and I appreciate the straight forward expectations of her courses, but I wouldn't recommend taking her class unless you want to start your day off with a raging migraine. The in class quizzes aren't difficult but the exams in comparison are ridiculous. Read your textbook like the Bible if you want an A.
Talks about irrelevant things and skips through material thats on the exams. Gives you 3 days to complete a chapter and its moduels.
This is one of those classes where I hoped to get run over on my way to class. I always left the class with the FATTEST headache. Her lectures are not helpful at all and she talks SOOOOO much I dont know why she's always yelling. She seems nice but her voice hurts my ears. The quizzes were bogus in my opinion too.
Narter literally reads a script in class and doesnt actually teach anything you wouldn't learn from the text book. The class is easy as long as you understood stats and know basics of psychology. The tests are mainly knowing the definitions of things and being able to apply it to a scenario. Honestly this class should just be taught online.
Your lower grades get dropped, but very few are dropped. If you miss more than two classes you lose points and it drops your grade a lot. TAs grade the work. Clicker questions are during every class and you can get extra credit for one question if you answer it correctly. There is a lot of work.
Dr. Narter does a great job of clearly setting the expectations for her class and even offers several opportunities within grading categories to be dropped. By just showing up to class alone (and using your clicker), you can earn several performance extra credit points that make the class worth attending. Put in the work, study, and pass the class.
Shes an alright teacher but the lectures are boring. Theres a chapter reading every week and a test every week. Clicker questions are your participation.
Narter is really straight forward in the way she grades and what she expects. She is accessible and will work with you if needed. You must be in class to get clicker participation, which eventually builds up. Quiz and online assignments are okay not hard to do, even if you don't read the chapters in depth you'll be okay with her lectures.
Dr. Narter is a good teacher, and as long as you go to class and do the work on time you should have a good grade. However, as the year goes on she comes across very passive aggressive when responding to emails, and complains about questions she receives from students.
Psych 101 was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. If you show up regularly, you should receive at least a B. She gives four papers and four tests throughout the semester, and your lowest one gets dropped for both. Do not take this class in the morning. She is VERY enthusiastic when she teaches, and it could get overwhelming.
Her lectures are good, but she's very rude. She makes kids feel stupid and exams are very difficult. Study for hours before an exam. Don't ask her questions because she will make you feel stupid. Ask the TA's. There's a lot of information covered in a short period of time. She does drop one exam and a few other assignments. Hard class for a 200
She's a really sweet and caring professor. Class is easy, based on clickers. Her tests are open note outside of class super simple. The out of class hw inquizitavies are all off the online book.
Narter is really heavily based on clickers. If you have taken her for PSY 101, her lectures and grade system is almost the same. Tests are not found online so you need to study of the book. Drops alot of assignments but you can't slack. No major writing papers, the only thing to do outside of class are inquisitive which are very easy to pass.
Probably one of the worst teachers Ive had at this university. The type of person who will do an awful job teaching then offer a clicker question where over 50% of the class will get wrong than blame everyone except herself. She is the reason tenure shouldnt exist at universities and teachers should be evaluated on their performance every year.
I loved Dr. Narter and if you do the work the class is an easy A. There's a few short writing assignments and you can find all of the quizzes/exams online. She lets you use your notes on them too.
There's a group project, so stay away if you hate that. Other than that, this is an easy A class and as long as you show up, you will pass. Textbook activities are based on completion, all quizzes and tests are open book and internet usage allowed, and almost a third of your lowest grades will be dropped.
Dr. Narter is very rude these days. She is unwilling to help and makes you feel dumb when you're not understanding the material. She expects you to understand the ins and outs of research methods just because you have to take Psy230 as a prerequisite. Rude and disrespectful. good luck, Charlie.
Starting off my mornings with Dr. Narters voice blaring in a micrphone was the worst. Lecture heavy, 14+ modules take a few hours each to complete. Even when reaching out with a kind and respectfully worded email, you get abrupt, short, and just not nice responses. Very clicker heavy, not a fan I forgot mine so there was no point in going.
I loved taking this class! She is a very good professor and I think she talked through her lectures with enough detail to pass the quizzes and exams. There is a quiz maybe once a week and learned curve assignments due before you start each chapter. You are also put in groups for a final presentation, which is super easy if the group works together.
Attendance is mandatory if you want to gain participation points and pass the exams and quizzes. She is rude when asked about things and talks really fast in lectures and goes on tangents a lot. She is an easy grader tho and drops a lot of points you may have missed and the class can be easy if you just read the chapters and do the assignments.
She sometimes has a high pitched voice that gives me a headache but the class is very easy. As long as you show up, listen, do the learning modules from the textbook and take the quizzes/exams. Everything is open note and it is very easy, there is a group assignment, she leads you into it pretty well, she drops the lowest score in every category.
Her voice gets grating on the ears at times, and she's really condescending about her Psy 101 students, telling us stories about how terrible students they are. Not the worst professor I've ever had, but I wouldn't take her again.
All tests and quizzes.. open noted. Yeah you have to use clickers so you have to go to class but that's it. She drops a lot of your bad scores which is really nice. Also offered a decent amount of extra credit. If you go to class, take notes and do the easy homework she gives (itnquizitives), that's a solid A right there
Dr. Narter is very enthusiastic about psychology and it rubs off on her students. Overall, this is a decently easy class. Lots of extra credit offered during class and all quizzes and exams are open note (yay!). She gives lots of in-class time for the group assignment as well. Dr. Narter is an overall passionate and caring professor!
I showed up to the first four PSY 101 sessions and was very disappointed. She talked more about clickers and accessing learning resources online than psychology content. She repeats herself. Take her course if you simply need credit, but if youre trying to cultivate an interest in psychology, this is not it. Maybe, but I got impatient and dropped.
Passive-aggressive towards students. Only have to go to class for clicker points, because she reads straight from the textbook that you already have to read and answer questions on for homework. Mandatory group video project. She drops multiple items including a test so if you do well on the first 3 tests, you wont have to take the final
She's probably the best professor I've had in the four semesters I've been in college. She explains everything clearly and 95% of the time she answers questions before they're asked making sure we're all prepared and know exactly what's going on. In her explanations she sometimes covers obvious things but for some that may be helpful. Recommended!
Very non understanding when it comes to making up quizzes or participation points. Talks extremely fast and doesnt give you enough time to think about the clicker question before closing it so you often just have to guess.
This class is hard NOT to pass. It was definitely one of my easiest and I appreciate how not stressful it was. Dana is really sweet and she structured the course so you should definitely pass.
The class in itself is pretty easy, doesn't require too much effort to do well. Everything is straight from the textbook. But she is such a condescending and passive-aggressive person that it makes this class difficult. Constantly putting people down, isn't helpful outside of class or thru email, doesn't treat students with respect. don't recommend
We had a book to read throughout the semester which was required enough for the weekly quizzes, and it was whatever. But Prof Narter was always very kind and generous to us. She was pretty chill for the most part in our class. No clickers but she did was us to be very engaged which is fine. Very nice and cheerful lady during my class.
Research Methods is overall easy material, and the out-of-class readings are a reasonable amount of work. What brings the grade down easily are the in-class Clicker quizzes, as you cannot use notes and are usually unprepared for them. However, all around Professor Narter explains the concepts very thoroughly, and is enjoyable to learn from.
Honestly, if you have the option to take a different professor, do it! This professor WILL NOT help you, and if you have a question for her she is so sassy and rude with her responses. Her tests are too complicated to understand to where you can study really hard and end up with the class average of 75% every time. You have to buy a clicker.
Dana Narter is always yelling and she'll likely get on your nerves. Her tests are difficult but there are a lot of other assignments and things to help cushion those grades. PSY290 is a difficult class but its not impossible!
She is a very nice and caring women. The class here was SAIL 1. She was super personable and very nice. We had quizzes over an actual book book, not text book, and one larger project at the end of the semester. Very nice person.
Just dont ask a question in her class and youll be fine. I asked a question and she literally made a petty announcement to the whole class and answered with attitude.
Dr Narter is the most confessing rude person I have ever met she honestly does not give a hoot about students if she thinks shes smarter than you she will disrespect you. If you have covid dont expect to be able to make up work. If there is an emergency dont expect sympathy. She will throw attitudes at you constantly
Not the biggest fan. She isn't very understanding or make exceptions for anyone. The classes taught me nothing but I had to be there for clicker questions. I learned everything by myself. The homework is really easy but the tests are insanely difficult. I wish I could advise you not to take this class but its required. Be sure to get a study group.
Professor is smart, but she's awful at her job. She would be better of doing her own independent research. She's not good with students or TA"s. She yells, makes degrading statements when the class doesn't understand. Tests are very difficult, and content specific. Don't expect anything as far as accommodations and missing class. RIP to your gpa
Dr. Narter is a great teacher but she does not allow any late work. All her tests and quizzes are online so it's pretty easy.
Dr. Narter's class setup is really easy to understand. She doesn't really do a lot of teaching, all of the learning is through the textbook and she simply goes over it in class. It's a pretty easy A and she drops low assignment and one low exam score at the end of the semester.
Dr. N is super nice, her class is really simple and straightforward. Attendance (at least in 2020) isnt mandatory, but she offers extra credit sometimes and tries to have fun with it! Tests and quizzes are easygoing, and she even drops assignments. Overall, fun and easy class!
Do not be fooled by some of these reviews! If you can take your courses with another professor absolutely do It or you probably will regret It. Dr. Narter does not treat students with respect, and actually gets bothered when students email her or ask questions. She is not accommodating to students with covid, and straight up ignores emails. Beware!
Even though I got an A I do not recommend this class if you dont want to be reading 3 hours a week. A lot of the answers to the quizzes are online, and so are the answers for the LearningCurves you have to do, so it's up to you really. Lectures are also kinda pointless because she takes too long going over just a few key points.
She's alright. She's passive aggressive but just do your stuff and the inquizitives (which are a good way to study) and get through it. She has easy extra credit, the tests really aren't too tough, just review. She drops test and quiz scores in order to raise your grade. She is really excited to teach.
She's OBSESSED with group activities and wastes SO much time on them. This is based on the assumption that people have read prior to class which is not what realistically happens. Expect minimum 1 group activity per lecture but 2-3 are common; it is so annoying esp. because she's very knowledgeable and capable of just giving a lecture herself.
Dr. Narter was fine as a professor, I found her actual lectures pretty interesting, but it is pretty reading-heavy, as you will read about a chapter a week, and for someone who's a slow reader such as myself, you might find it a little frustrating. The exams require a little studying, but not too bad.
Dr. Narter was nice at first, but my opinion quickly shifted amidst classes in 2021. Her lectures are interesting and, while not mandatory, she'll randomly assign graded in-class assignments and you HAVE to be present to get points. She was incredibly cold and unprofessional when I reached out to her about an emergency that kept me from class.
She seems nice, but we did a lot of breakout sessions that were not super helpful. I felt like she had junior high school teacher energy, kinda treats us like kids. Class was a breeze after she said she takes the quiz questions from the book (no guarantee that's true for other semesters!).
The class isn't that hard if you do everything you're supposed to. But this woman is SO RUDE! Very passive-aggressive and overall just annoying.
The most petty and disrespectful person Ive ever met. An easy class with tedious homework, and made me hate every day I had to go. Treats you like a child and fosters a terrible learning environment.
So rude and petty; She looks to get students in trouble and then gossip about it to her other classes; Tests are hard ish because the questions are confusing and ask for the most random information. Im a good student and love school but hated every second I had to spend in any of her classes.
this class is super straightforward, the assignments are very clear but there is a ton of textbook reading and then inquisition. you have to buy a clicker, she is not financially accommodating. she drops a lot of grades which is great but the lectures feel like a waste of time and asking questions is out of the question. do not skip class.
Dr. Narter is very very passive aggressive, be prepared if you asked her a question and she thinks it's "stupid" for her to post on D2L basically bashing you. Only good thing is she drops lowest test scores, and you don't really have to show up for class. Screams a lot and her voice is shaky of how much she talks and talks, she goes off topic a lot
Don't ask stupid nor obvious questions, as she can be petty some times. I gave her a medium rating because if she notices that you care and you participate in her class she will like you, however she can be rude and passive aggressive sometimes. Her class is easy but her tests can be a bit hard, she does give extra credit sometimes. Buy a clicker.
She treats you like you are in middle school and her attendance is clicker participation. You have to pay for a clicker subscription in order to get attendance credit, which is ridiculous. The class is also very boring, but at least the tests are online. I was excited to learn about the mind and she made it horrible.
The class is super easy. You have to do your homework but I skipped class all the time never opened my textbook and still got an A. Dr. Narter is sooo annoying though. She thinks she knows absolutely everything and loves to prove it to the class.
Easy class, but she is probably the most boring professor you'll ever have. She doesn't actually teach you anything, just goes over almost word for word what she assigns you for reading. Grade weighing is also wack, more interested in making you come to class for points even if you know the material. Unhelpful when reaching out for help.
Attendance outweighs homework points in this class, despite her teaching absolutely nothing that you wouldn't have already learned from the required readings for the homework. Knows the subject very well, but is petty and disrespectful at times. Short and unhelpful when reaching out. Class itself is interesting and easy, but she makes it a pain.
Rude. Bullies her students. Laughs at u if u ask a ? & shell say she already went over it. Makes u feel stupid in front of other students. TAs are horrible. I got a D instead of C b/c I used d2L clicker & she doesnt use d2L on lecture so my clicker would log out, & by the time I could log in, it was too late. TAs wouldnt help -never got points.
As long as you're at least a little interested in what the course is about, you'll have no problem learning and getting an A in this class. We had an online textbook that was written in simple terms for better understanding, and Dr. Narter drops low scores for some assignments and an exam, so there was a bit less stress with that.
While attendance is mandatory, it is useful because she makes announcements at the beginning of every class and many of attendance questions end up being extra credit. She will drop a lot of your lowest grades, including your lowest exam and there is no final. Show up, listen, take decent notes and you are good.
Does not have much empathy for bringing a psych professor. Does not except late work, round grades ect.
While attendance is not mandatory, you will not get an A in the class if you don't go. The only reason that I got a B was because of that. Also you must buy a clicker to get participation points and the textbook in order to do homework. Super easy class, clear syllabus/grading criteria, but a mediocre professor overall - super passive aggressive.
As long as you show up and do the work you will pass. Also, so many things in the grade book get dropped so getting an A was easy.
I parked on the top of the parking garage in hopes of falling off the building before I got to this class
When I first saw the ratings of the class I was a bit scared, however once I got used to the flow of the class it was not as bad as they made it seem. As long as you read and pay attention you will be fine, if you get to know Dr Narter she really cares about her students. She does offer extra credit!
This class was hands down one of the worst professors I've ever had. Lectures completely unrelated to the lessons at hand. Does not help with questions you may have. The professor is disengaged with her students. Do not take this class. 0/10
Teaching was really average. We only met once every two weeks and it wasn't worth it other than to do the in-class assignments for credit. The online quizzes and textbook made it really easy to breeze through the class without actually having to read anything. Communication between teaching staff and students is a bit poor and slow.
She is very rude. Any time a student literally asks a question that's supposedly in the syllabus she has to post it to the class page just to pretty much complain about how people are asking her a question. Personally, if people keep asking the same things that means it's not clear and needs to be improved but she can't see that obviously.
Literally the rudest professor. She blatantly ignores students when they ask questions, and purposefully impedes students from succeeding in her class. Save yourself the stress and take this class (and any class she teaches) with another professor.
She is an alright professor, just show up to meetings, do your work, and you'll pass. 4 of your lowest scores are dropped in each category.
The clicker question & attendance was painful, due to clicker questions being so fast paced & technological issues. You must score 75% for the daily attendance point. Pop quizzes are unpredictable. Luckily, exams are online. There is a group project on an essay about a movie. The professor was rude to responding emails & can be a little cutthroat.
have genuinely never had a worse teacher or professor in my whole life. if you email her she will reply with a snarky response and make you feel stupid without ever actually answering your question. I have no idea how she has a job/degree I have never met a more incompetent self absorbed person don't take any class with her as the professor
I have only been in this class for two weeks and she is the worst professor I have ever had. She is disrespectful and does not teach at all. She is very rude and has no sympathy, empathy, or understanding. Be careful, I only took this class because I absolutely had to.
Worst professor I have ever had. Makes no exceptions even though she makes you buy unnecessary items. Should be fired, idk why she is still allowed to be here.
This teacher is very passive-aggressive and makes you feel like you are less smart than others when you ask her questions.
Very, very rude. Acts like your questions are dumb. Literally said to me once "I don't know why you would even ask me that." Thanks, very helpful. Her lectures give you almost no info, and she just reads everything she says off of the slides. The textbook is a lifesaver and is a much better teacher. Read the textbook!!! Avoid Narter if you can.
I was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in the middle of the semester and had to miss quite a few classes. Since most of her points are in-class points, I missed a lot of points from either being sick, in the hospital, or getting tests, seeing my doctor, or getting chemotherapy. She said it's unfortunate that I have cancer but is unwilling to help me.
I took PSY 150 online with this professor. She drops the lowest 4 grades in each category, which is nice. This class was pretty easy and I would recommend it! Her TAs grade everything also. I liked how the class was structured and the same each week online. As long as you read the syllabus and attend the meetings, you will do good.
Class was pretty easy in my opinion. However, Dr. Narter is incredibly difficult to work with. She is very snarky and dismissive, especially via email, and is just generally unhelpful. The class is extremely attendance/participation based, and the lectures are barely even worth the time.
She was disorganized and not good in lecturing. Also, she was not collaborative.
I had her before and did so badly because I never went to class. This year, I went to her classes, got the clicker points, and did super well. Participation is everything in this class so you definitely need to go.
Not sure what's up with all the bad reviews. I finished with over 100% in the class. It's important to read the textbook and do the hw but it really doesn't take that long. Tons of easy points just from coming to class and doing the clicker questions. I relate to the reviews saying she screams a bit into the mic, but it's nothing I couldn't handle.
Narter is an acceptable professor. There's nothing really stand out about the way she teaches material. You read the textbook and take quizzes on it. Writing assignments are graded lightly and you can Ctrl+F the quizzes. If you prefer to enjoy your subjects, I wouldn't recommend this class. Standard professor, standard class. Not memorable.
ppl say she is mean but, she is very nice, makes jokes, and even passes out candy for right answers. There is not a lot of homework, all you have to do is read the chapter and do the inquizitive, which gives you unlimited tries. You will get a good grade if you actually go to class and do the clicker quizzes. They are pretty easy as well.
Dr. Narter is a very mean person if you try to contact her over email. Rather than answering your questions you email her, she will correct your grammar and belittle you. On the bright side, her class was very easy to pass.
The class itself is relatively easy, but only if you attend 95% of the time. This class is very attendance based and you will have a quiz or an in class assignment every week, and on top of that you are graded for your attendance. The professor is extremely passive aggressive and not very helpful at all when you ask her questions. tests are hard.
if you want to take this class be prepared to do a lot of self-reading, the lectures are awful too personal and a waste of time however you need to show up for the quizez and class participation. The teaching style is very confusing. grading quizes are 4 questions each so even if you get one wrong you now have a 75 or lower.
Dr. Narter is inspirational and caring and I'm grateful I took this class. Make sure you know how to look at your old Inquizative questions!
This class was very easy! There were no tests or anything, and there was pretty much no reason to come to lecture except for the occasional in class assignment. However, since there were no tests or any reasons to retain the material/study, I didn't learn that much.
This class is incredibly easy. All the tests are open-note and online. Attendance is mandatory, but she does drop 6 attendance grades. Her lectures are fine, but prepared to have your eardrums blasted by the volume of her mic and also be milked for every last second of the 50 minute lecture. Super easy class though that you can do in your sleep.
She is not a bad professor, but she can be rude at times, not understanding at all. There was no allowed make up quizzes (which are taken in class) grades on in class clicker questions and adds a performance question but doesn't tell you what question it is, so if you get it wrong your grade goes down regardless of doing good on a quiz by 1%.
Took her PSY150A and it was a pretty easy class. No exams or tests, just simple quizzes every friday. Not too much homework, work due MON-WED-FRI but the assignments themselves were not difficult. If taking the 150A, will have to participate in research studies to receive credit worth a letter grade. My TA graded harder than the professor.
This class is fine if it wasnt for the prof. Shes so randomly rude, condescending, and unhelpful and it be so uncalled for. We only met once ever two weeks so the material is very independent but for me i loved that cuz ive already taken psych. You have to read every single day, unless you like to cram, to be able to do well. Very notes heavy
kinda hard to talk to but overall not a bad prof. easy class if you pay attention and do the work.
She is very funny. She gives good lectures and her personal stories are hilarious. a lot of people dont like her but she's an awesome teacher!!
Dr. Narter is a great professor and always finds ways to share personal experiences that make the class really funny. If you reach out to her about a personal matter, she will be there to work through it with you. All exams are open note. As long as you take notes and pay attention, you will be fine!
While the class is not that difficult, this was not my favorite class. The required textbook reading is enough to pass the tests, and lectures are participation heavy. In person, Dr. Narter can be very condescending if you get confused. The lectures didnt add to my learning, but attendance is mandatory. Nice enough professor, not my favorite class.
You have to attend the lectures to take the clicker questions and quizzes, they are most of your points in the class. She is the most rude and condescending professor ever. I was shocked every time I would email her for help and she would be straight up mean and passive aggressive.Try to take the other professors, because she is mean
shes decent enough.. she talks a lot and goes off topic quite a few times
shes condescending and rude as hell to her students. i get she has a giant class but a little empathy would be nice. when i was having a little trouble with money i asked if i could participate in the class quizzes another way not using the $20 clicker and she said back "could you borrow money from someone else?" like erm
The material itself is easy to learn but Dr. Narter is mean and unhelpful. The in-class quizzes are oddly hard sometimes, which wrecks your grade since if you get one question wrong, you get a 75%. The exams are also a little tough, and since they aren't worth many points, really hurt your grade even if you only get a question or two wrong.
This is the worst professor I've had so far. She can be very rude and is inattentive to her email. The lectures are nice and short but don't provide much help for the difficult exams. Her TA also is incredibly knit-picky when grading assignments even if you address everything in the rubric.
The class itself was very easy (and pretty boring), but Dr. Narter was at least engaging in class. Attendance is pretty mandatory because participation is graded. The slides and lectures were helpful, although a lot of it came from the textbook anyway. Exams are all open-note, so that is nice too.
The worst class that i ever took, the professor is hard to deal.
Inquizitives due every unit but most stuff can be found online, same with the tests. Only annoying thing was you read the material beforehand and then reiterates it in class but you have to go to class for participation and quizzes even though you already know the stuff. Easy class just annoying but it's definitely an easy A if you keep up
This class was pretty easy, but she made the lectures so boring. She would randomly bring up events or things from her past that did not relate to the material at all and go on a tangent. Also we used inquizitive where there was a ton of questions and you had to get a specific number right before being able to be done. Clicker questions for pts!!
she's sort of nice but...you're supposed to read the textbook, and then she puts the textbook on the slides, and then she reads you the slides in class. so, so, so boring. it's just not even real teaching. like... i'm trying to be nice about it but she makes it really hard. it feels like she kinda looks down on students. if you can avoid her, do.
Not a hard class at all and she isn't a bad professor at all, I am just not so interested in psychology! Fairly interesting course, but it really is not that hard or even too much work. If you buckle down and do it, you can get most of the semester's worth of work done in one weekend.
One of the worst professors I have EVER had here. She reads off the slides she sends out after class during class. The only time you really need to be in class is during the random in class assignments. Not to mention she mentions random stories. Not my favorite professor. Take it with someone else if you can!!
Love her. Lectures are boring and repetitive of the textbook. However, if you pay attention and don't engage with her, she won't bother you. Tons of extra credit and drops a lot of items
this was an easy class, like so easy, but also make sure you go to class - theres no attendance but there are random in class assignments, 4 written assignments, no tests, 4 in class assignments, regular (easy) homework, and a few easy quizzes
This may have been the worst teacher I have ever had. She knows what she is talking about but is horrific at teaching her students. She is also just straight up disrespectful. She's very snappy to students. For this class attendance is recorded, there are in class quizzes and outside of class tests that have questions that are about unknown content
I made another review for her 290 class but for 240 the class itself is easy. The main challenge is the 4 essays but they are all pretty easy. With that being said she is pretty disrespectful and gets snappy with students. I emailed her for some leniency for an assignment and she responded in a pretty nasty way. She does not round grades either.
Not a very good professor. Reads off a paper the whole time she's presenting slides. Outside of class she isn't the nicest or most understanding.
As long as you made an effort to learn in her class, you will be successful.
She is extremely snappy and disrespectful. Very condescending to her students and do not ever ask her for help. The class was easy and as long as you show up to class and do your assignments, it's a really easy grade. The only reason why I got a B was because I could have swore that the rubric was not up so I just wrote an essay and missed points.
The lectures are decent, but mandatory attendance can be a drag. The textbook is essential, and using study aids like unstuckstudy AI alongside it helps make the class manageable. Overall, an OK course if you stay on top of the work.
She is incredibly rude and condescending. She does not care ab anyone. If there is another professor you could take, I would highly highly recommend doing so. I have never had a professor like this, just no words. So rude and snappy and mentions random life facts in the middle of class… like bruh.
