Profesor is tough but fair. She really seems to know her stuff teaches it well but you have to pay attention if you want to pass

Alright: You have a Quiz every Monday. (Pretty Easy) Along with two papers; one 4-5 pages about any HUM topic you want to write on, and another 2 page paper. This class seems pretty easy so far, due to my COMP 1 teacher, you will get an A or B if you put in the work.

Ms. Thurmond is very nice. She keeps the class engaging, and is very clear in letting you know what's important to know. As with any hum class there is a good amount of writing and a weekly quiz. As long as you keep up with writing assignments and reading you'll easily get an A, while learning a lot of interesting stuff.

The class is very interesting and she tries to make it as fun as possible. Only one research paper and cultural experience.Not too difficult and super interesting.

Very interesting teacher. Has a couple quizzes beginning of each class, and 1 page paper due each week. Final exam is a piece if cake. Class is mandatory but she is not strict about attendance. Easy A.

wonderful professor. She is adamant about making sure that the material is understood. I highly suggest attending the class even though it is not mandatory, it makes it easier for you to know what the final is going to entail.

She is a wonderful professor and make the class very interesting. Her assignments are great and are in no way boring. Instead of assigning dry text to read and compare, we spend a lot of time comparing classic myths to either modern counter parts. I cannot recommend her enough.

This prof is so awesome! I haven't even finished her course yet and i love her already. She makes everything very easy to understand. She understands her students and how they learn so therefore she can teach us well. She gives extra credit and is adamant about attendance. You want to attend class though, you wont pass without going.

Absolute amazing professor!She makes this class so interesting that you don't want to miss, never boring. If you don't like discussions boards there's an alternative each time. Taking notes is a must but she relates each mythological deity or character to some modern reference to help with the relationship & understanding. Gives fun extra credit.

She makes mythology extremely interesting. She gives a quiz every Wednesday. I struggled with that a little because they were so simple I over thought it. She does give out plenty of extra credit to make up for what ever quizzes you fail. I highly suggest you take her course. Enjoyed her class so much that I'm taking her 20th century this summer.

Still taking the mythology class but I really love it. She is a great professor, very smart, one of the best at valencia! I want to take her for another class. Havent taken a test yet so I'm not sure how hard they are. Lots of stuff to memorize but she makes it fun.

In all she is a great teacher. I took her for two HUM courses and I would have taken her for a third if I did not already get the credit elsewhere. I highly recommend her. Good grades are not easy, but you almost have to try to fail. As long as you have even the slightest bit of determination I am sure you will get an A. Textbooks are important

Either she's the greatest or one of the greatest professors I've ever had, I don't know which! You will not find a better mythology professor. She has a passion for mythology. You have a midterm and a final. You have two essays and journals to write. Take notes, bring your book everyday. Only way you fail is if you try to fail. Take her or regret!

She's alright. Would probably take another one of her courses again mostly because she is an extremely easy grader. On the other hand, she never stops talking about her personal life, which is a little annoying. She is the most pompous professor I've ever been taught by, too. If you decide to speak up in class, be prepared to get shot down...a lot.

Professor Thurmond is a great teacher and a kind person. She is clear on what she expects and is there if you need help! Although, it's unlikely you will need much help because her power points are full of all the info you need. Only two tests the whole semester, but study for them with notes taken in class. Easy A for me.

An amazing teacher with thorough knowledge on topic. I found the class to be incredibly easy and those who had a hard time just had a hard time with the topic in general. She is very open to working with the student and thus if you are struggling please speak with her to work it out. I would take all my HUM classes with her.

I took this as a 6 week course so the lectures were almost 3 hours long but it didn't feel that way at all! Professor Thurmond made each class so interesting and funny and she has a real passion for teaching this stuff. We had short quizzes online each week, one projectshort paper and then the written final. Will definitely be taking her again!

Extra credit - there maybe opportunity for extra credit so take advantage. Writing - there will be essays due and grammar does count so take advantage of the writing center take this class - Professor Thurmond is passionate instructor and and the class will go by as if there was never enough time!

Absolutely loved this class with Professor Thurmond! She's so engaging and honestly wants her students to learn. The tests sound daunting because they're in-class essays but, because the class discussions are so fun and memorable, answering the questions is a breeze. I HIGHLY recommend taking any of her classes!

Professor Thurmond is the one to go to for Humanities period! As an economics/industrial engineering major I had no interest in the humanities, but Professor Thurmond makes the subject clear, understandable, and NOT BORING. Even though she doesn't have an office at Valencia she will go out of her way to help, and she responds to all emails.

If you're not great at this subject she is very good at simplifying things and if you excel in this subject then you'll enjoy the lectures and find more clarity on topics. Professor Thurmond was an awesome humanities teacher! I am a very talkative personable person with some unconventional perspectives, so having a open minded teacher was refreshing. She would always let me speak my peace on any subject and not scold me if she disagrees the perspective she teaches from is awesome. Take her, trust me!

Passionate about what she teaches, and she has a tendency to pass it on to her students. Gives very interesting lectures, using primarily powerpoints and video sources. There is never any busywork assigned, for the most part it's either interesting or straight to the point, for example, she might assign a documentary, or just reading and a quiz.

Professor Thurmond is hands down the best HUM teacher there is. As long as you come to class and turn in your work on time, you should not have a hard time passing. Very genuine and truly cares about the students as well as the subjects she teaches. Would recommend to anyone !!

Professor Thurmond is great ! I just took her class this summer in West Campus for Intro to Humanities. You should do her journals and participate in class you should be definitely fine. For my summer term she only graded journals, quizzes,mid-term and final. The quizzes were online and the journals as well. She also gave us two extra credits.

Words cannot express how much information I have learned over this semester with Professor Thurmond. I remember always watching many movies and shows and seeing holographic of Egyptians and never knew what they meant. Thanks to her I finally understood what they meant and I am satisfied of the information. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER, SHE IS THE BEST :)

I took Professor Thurmond for mythology, I do not regret it. She is so sweet, intelligent, and really funny, there hasn't been one class where I haven't laughed. To pass the class you do have to study for the 3 tests, and you have to read the stories she assigns for the quizzes and you have to write 2 essays, which are easy.

Class is pretty simple. Show up for class, do the weekly quizzes and homework, and you'll be fine. Thurmond cares about you learning and is pretty funny. Lectures don't really go deep, so the class can feel a bit shallow if you like history, but it's an easy course to take and Thurmond does her best to make it enjoyable.

The Professor makes the class simple to go through, and engaging w/opportunities for extra credit. For mythology, there are three tests, 10 quizzes, and a final. All of these are simple as long as you put forth the time and effort to complete. For everyone that puts in full effort, pays attention/engages, goes through material, you will have an A.

I honestly LOVE her. She is amazing at what she does and very passionate about what she teaches. Her class is fun and pretty easy just do what she says and you will be fine. She even tells you exactly what you need to study for the test. TAKE HER

Hilarious

First of all, there is a lot of work to the class. BUT the professor actually cares about you and will help you if you need it, in her office hours, after class, or on email. Just turn everything in on time and dont be a slacker, and you will get an A or B. But shes very kind if you are sick and will give extensions if you have a doctors note.

Went into this class only needing it for humanities credit, but ended up learning more than I expected. Amazing professor who cares for students who are willing to learn. Prof. Thurmand's class is based on lectures (take good notes), quizzes, few projects/essays, and a final. Gives many extra credit opportunities! There is no excuse not to pass.

Professor Thurmond is great! I took this class as a requirement, and with little interest in taking it. I ended up taking two of my required humanity classes and plan taking mythology with her next fall. She definitely engages all of her students to her lectures. (side note: Prof. Thurmond is a cool German, be punctual!)

Good professor and she knows her stuff. I took her in the summer term. 4 essays 500 words each, You need to get prepared for hi grammar to be perfect, otherwise you won't get a good grade. Fun lecture but you need to read in order that pass the final test.

This is the most fun class you'll ever take. Ms. Thurmond (Thor's hammer) knows her stuff and have a way of presenting it to the class that keeps you interested. the class is mad fun you'll learn a lot and won't have a lot to do in the class, 4 papers and a final. Take her you won't regret it!!!!

I rated difficult a 3 but not because of Professor Thurmond. It is mythology so there is a lot to memorize with all of the gods and goddesses, however Thurmond is so fun and ever lecture is exciting! PLEASE do yourself a favor and take this class with her. There are 2 essays (fun topics) and a quiz once a week. You wont regret taking this class!!!!

Prof. Thurmond is great. Her lectures are long but interesting. She grades fair and gives extra credit opportunities. There are homeworks and essays, but they're easy and you absolutely need the book. All in all she is amazing and if you have any other humanities class that you have to take, take her and you won't regret not taking her.

Professor Thurmond is hilarious, she knows how to make history funny and left me wanting to learn more about every single one of her subjects. I'm very happy that I took her class and happy with the knowledge I gained in every single subject. I was in a half semester course and the final was cumulative, but unless you just don't care, you'll pass.

I use this website a lot to choose my class, but this is my first time rate a professor. She is amazing; I love her class. This class is mandatory, but she makes it interesting. In the future, I will take her class again when I finish my major require. I dont have to study like crazy; we only have 3 essays, quizzes, and final. You should take her.

Professor Dana Thurmond has by far been my FAVORITE professor since being at Valencia. She gives lots of extra credit options to help boost your grade. as long as you study and pay attention in class you will pass with an A! This class is easy and fun. The textbook she assigns is not as important as coming to class to hear her talk. She bases her exam mainly on what she talks about in class. As long as you do the work (on time) and go to class you will do great. Her lectures are also very interesting and she really knows her stuff.

Prof. Thurmond is a fantastic professor, easily one of my favorites in my time at Valencia. I took Intro to Humanities and Mythology with her, the first for my humanities requirement and the second just because I loved the first class. Her classes are an "easy A" IF you do your part, I could go on for paragraphs with praises if not for the limit.

Thurmond is extremely smart. She knows her stuff, she does a lot of heavy homework reading but if you read you will pass quizzes and exams with an A+. Also the reading is pretty interesting. She makes class fun, a little disorganized but all in all recommend her 10000% Read, take notes, and study, you'll pass with an A!!
