3 exams, opt final, online quizzes, ppt notes. Lots of info but interesting. You have to study for the exam but they are more or less fair. Tons of material to cover. You won't get out of class early. Hudson is a good teacher, very clear w/ a sense of humor. I would take another class from her
Dr. Hudson is worth the effort to learn from someone that has alot of experience in the field of abnornal psych. Her tests are hard if you don't study. I recommend her and follow her study tip of gridding the disorders.I learned late and started acing tests. Show up not everything is in text.
Good clear professor, interesting material, I loved learning about all the disorders. Exams were tough for me but I enjoyed the class. Offers a little extra credit, very clear about assignments. I recommend her, but you have to study!
Kind of snotty. But obviously good at what she does. If you go everyday and are a good student and all that crap you'll do fine. Not a prof to take if your a slacker like me. If your a slacker and are fine with a C, you can do it with minimal effort.
I really enjoyed her class. She was fair, funny, smart, and very helpful. She had VERY interesting lectures and used real-life experiences that she'd had with her patients to help us undertstand the material and exactly what constitutes each disorder. I recommend her very strongly!!!
Dr. Hudson is a great teacher. The classes were fun. She covers a lot of material, and it is a lot of work, but it is so worth it. I would take one of her classes again!
Dr.Hudson is a great prof. She uses lots of examples and makes sure you understand the material. Her tests aren't the easiest so you have to study, but she is great.
Very interesting class. She gives good examples and makes sure you understand everything. I would definitely take her for PSYC 110. Her tests are easy and straightforward and she is always willing to help.
She is a great professor. I lost some respect for her, though, when I found out she came in second place on the Canadian version of "Survivor" last year.
I enjoyed this class. She made it fun and the class is not difficult. She does take attendence everyday, but there is only 2 assignments in the class. You take quizzes, but they are open book. There is no study guides, but the test are not bad if you go to lectures.
She is a good teacher, but she is verrrrrry unwillingly to work with you on anything!! I needed to be added to the class after it was full (1 extra person over limit), and she gave me the hardest time about it. finallly she decided she would let me in. and then, i thought that i might have to take my final early, and she wasn't going to let me :(
Wonderful Prof! Makes the class fun and interesting. She is willing to work with you if need be. Dropped the lowest test grade.
Terrific teacher. Uses great examples. Very nice. Assignments are easy. The paper was fun and easy. She uses lots of video clips and brings in guest speakers. She made the class interesting. She acts out the examples. She takes off points if you miss too much class but the lectures are interesting so it's not a problem but is unwilling to work with you for more than 3 absences even if it is for a good reason, so do your best not to miss.
Dr. Hudson is an awesome prof. She is really funny and seems to really care about her students. She uses lots of good examples. I wish she was teaching more psyc classes.
dr. hudson is a great teacher! takes attendance, but goes straight from the powerpoints. open book online quizzes help grade. 1 big paper and that's it. 4 tests are HARD though. very very specific, be ready to study, but it's a great class and a great teacher!
I really enjoyed this class and she made it even more enjoyable. She cares about her students and wants you to do well. The tests are a bit tough, but she will make adjustments if the class is not doing well. Just show up and take notes. Also, ask questions if something isnt clear and she will try to help you.
Very unwilling to help borderline grades. Offered xtra credit only for attendance. Sweet teacher, but she makes the couse WAY harder than it should be. I wouldn't reccomend unless u plan to go to class every day and get the xtra credit to boost ur grade. She doesn't accept late online quizzes & won't remind u when they are due so keep up on them.
she is very nice, she is willing to help you if you come to her. come to class she gives random extra credit for attendance. if she does the modules get the study guide book it helps GREATLY! go to the online quiz site she pulls questions word for word on there. know the vocab and be able to apply it to a question. flashcards are helpful
Overall a very good teacher, very good lectures, and an interest in the subject, which helped me be interested... Tests weren't that bad either if you studied.
I always liked psychology, but after this course I absolutely hate it! All thanks to a this professor. All she did was reading powerpoints, that she previously made. She did explain some stuff, but all of it. Mostly she made the course very dry, boring, and not entertaining at all. Don't take her guys, definitely not an easy grade.
This class is super boring. She reads you the powerpoint and they're all online. Most of the questions on the test are from quizzes online so if you memorize those, you'll be fine. You don't even have to go to class! Okay teacher, but really boring.
Great teacher! She makes the topic so interesting and she's always willing to help. She also gives really cool video examples about things relating to psychology and her lectures. She's a super nice lady, I would recommend her to anyone really interested in psychology. You will really learn a lot.
Dr. Hudson is a pretty good teacher! She provides all lectures on powerpoint, which comes in handy for taking notes and studying. She really loves being a psychologist and that comes out in her teaching. Easy, easy class. Take quizzes online to help study for tests. If you spend an hour or so studying for the tests you'll be fine. Pretty easy!
as everyone else has said: the tests are hard but passable. Lots of powerpoints so attendance isn't a must but it is helpful to go as you can get extra credit on random days. I am normally an A or B student and I received a C for the class but I mainly just crammed the night before every test. She is really nice but strict so be ready.
Favorite professor. I think she is awesome. She puts the material in easy-to-understand terms. I took psych in high school and had no interest. Now I'm going to minor in it. The book is actually interesting too, but it's not essential. She gives random extra credit for attendance and each test is about half from practice online quizzes.
Dr. Hudson is great, she makes psychology easy to understand. You do have to study for tests, I would recommend this class.
She is very enthusiastic about psychology. Her tests are harder but some of the questions are exact copies of questions from the quizes on the psychology book website.
Make sure to read the modules for exams. The class can get very dull at times, but she is a pretty entertaining professor. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about psychology, and works well with students. She is extremely helpful and willing to answer questions.
At first I thought this lady was okay, but as the class went on I started to wonder how she was even able to receive a degree. She in my view is incompetent and completely makes you feel like an idiot while in class. It's ridiculous!
She is a wonderful professor! She is very funny and is really passionate about psychology. The tests are challenging, but attend SI Sessions, take the online quizzes and the end of module questions. a lot of her test questions are exact copies. also, she gives out random attendance bonuses.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER!!! She is very excited about the subjects and makes it fun for you. Read your textbook and do the online quizzes for sure and you'll get a decent grade. The test are challenging so you have to put in some effort to get that A.
I've taken this professor twice. She is super nice and is interesting. I was surprised there were even a couple students who complained. I think she is one of the best teachers I have had at Missouri State and this year I am a senior. Read the textbook and look over the power points and there is no reason not to get an A.
This professor is very nice. She uses humor while teaching to keep it interesting, and she's very willing to give help and answer questions. There's a lot of work in this class, but she definitely helps in any way that she can!
Dr. Hudson's class is not for those who want an easy A. If you take the blended course your life will revolve around her class and assignments. All of your questions go to your ULA. I found the lectures to be a waste of time. She just went over a few things that you already taught yourself. She does experiments in class which wastes a lot of time.
So I took the blended course and I hated it! You had to read a chapter every week, which are about 40 pages, and must take your own notes while reading. Sometimes it seems she hasn't read the book because she gets confused in class. Overall the class is annoying to take but it was easy if you did all the homework just a lot of effort and work.
Dr. Hudson is a really great professor. I would recommend her for PSY 121, but the blended format class is not fun! She will help you if you go talk to her during office hours.
Took the blended course. She always had fun activities and videos during lecture that made the material easier to understand. I never minded attending lecture. Make sure you stay on top of the online assignments. Overall a good class and teacher.
I took the blended, which wasn't helpful at all. She does the lecture on the chapter after you do assignments on them. Reading the text takes a couple hours, then there's assignments. She often didn't know answers to questions during class. She seemed kind of clueless on the material. She's very nice, but I don't think she's a very good professor.
AMAZING TEACHER! She applies her knowledge of hows students learn to make her class better. She explains everything in her syllabus and is clear on how to suceed in her class. Her classes are interesting and she is understanding if you need to do an assignment late ect. She has make up tests and extra credit. My best teacherthis semester
This class is hard, but she's a good teacher. I took the blended course, and I would recommend not taking it if you can. There is a lot of work to be done, and I would have rather gone to a lecture then have to spend hours reading a book online.
Dr. Hudson was great, incredibly nice, and has personal stories that pertain to the material. She's personable and gives great lectures. The tests are difficult, and she expects you to read on your own because there will be info not covered in class but is in the book on the tests. I would definitely take another one of her classes.
If you read the chapter, you'll be fine. She doesn't much material in class, but she does all sorts of special activities and things to involve the students in class.
Dr. Hudson was phenomenal instructor and I hope to have her again in abnormal psych. The class was very easy as long as you read the material and completed the assignments. I ended up with a very high A and put little effort into studying aside from what was graded.
She gives at least 30 points of extra credit. There is usually just one class a week, and even that isn't necessary. You are required to attend a study session before every exam, but they're definitely helpful.
You are allowed to make up to 30 extra credit points in this class. You are also required to have 6 credits of research(simply easy) and this helps boost your grade as well. There is only class 1 day a week usually. The powerpoints are online as well if you miss class. Very clear lectures and very helpful.
The professor was amazing and super nice, but the class sucks. Defineitly go to the lectures though, not only is it required but she also clears a lot of information up about the chapters. To save money just buy the MyPsychLab code and then buy the book from a friend or something.
Dr. Hudson is a great choice for a psych teacher. She knows what she's talking about, works in the field, and relates her experience in class. She tries to relate the subject matter to 'real world' topics. She makes the topics understandable.
Dr Hudson was overall a great professor. I personally loved how she would provide examples from real cases she has seen. Only thing is that you are never sure on what's on the test, anything in the book is possible.
great professor and very passionate about what she teaches. I had her for abnormal psych and it was a blended course. If it's blended, you definitely need to read the material online and take your own notes. During lecture, she does a powerpoint but it's broad so studying your own notes will really help. Tests are a little difficult
I took this as a gen-ed and it was a great decision! I learned so much and actually found the content to be interesting. Dr. Hudson is now one of my favorite professors at MO State! I took this as a blended course, so there was a lot of reading, but if you do it right, it's not hard to pass. The entire course is set up for you to succeed.
Sure, shes fun and relatable during class, and she only makes you attend class one day of the week since its a flex class. But she makes the test questions ridiculously hard. The content is not difficult, she just makes the tests extremely difficult when it is not necessary. Its a Gen Ed class, like cmon
She is a great teacher. She cares about her students. Tests are very manageable so long as you do your work and study before the test. If you are concerned about anything she is very approachable and helpful. Go to her office hours
Dr Hudson is amazing! The class is half online and half seated, so just make sure to do your textbook work before class. The study sessions may seem not helpful, but they actually are, especially if its close to the test. Take advantage of the extra credit, it could be the difference between an A and a B.
This class is blended, so you do most of the learning and note taking on your own. The one day a week that we met was used to go over what we already went over in the book. The textbook is online and very interactive. During lecture, you get more information and examples to help you better understand. This class is an easy A if you do the work.
She is super sweet and helpful. There are a lot of points that go into the grade book but take advantage of them. Tests are okay if you study. She takes attendance every day and you participate with clickers. Her lectures are pretty interesting and interactive.
Class became optional because of Covid, and was not important to go to. Weeks run Thursday-Wednesday, will multiple assignments due each week. Mandatory study sessions for each unit, but they are very easy and lowkey. She actually wrote the book with another professor, so she knows about all of it and it's laid out very nicely. Overall a good class
PSY121 is a class that you will have to pay attention in to understand the material. You must read outside of class and complete all homework on time. Do the extra credit, too! I loved prof Hudson, she's so nice and always willing to help!
I took this course in the Fall 2020 semester, so it was blended due to COVID. Course mainly consisted of Pearson Revel online textbook and videos made by Hudson. You'll also take quizzes on the videos. Tests aren't too bad since they mainly cover questions from previous assignments. If you put in effort and follow the textbook, you'll do great.
Overall, this was a good class. My only critique is that the workload is unnecessarily heavy.
Textbook can feel a bit lengthy but it's more riveting than most. Class runs Thursday-Monday schedule which can be difficult to get used to but was doable. I enjoyed the Revel software used as it helped reinforce the material easily. It may feel like a large workload at times but it's very easy and actually helps you learn. Great teacher/class!
Dr. Hudson is nice. I don't attend lecture because its optional this year, and I'm doing just fine. All you need to do is stay on top of assignments in Revel and chapter quizzes on Blackboard. The workload is a bit heavy, which is annoying, but it's not hard.
Easy class because you don't need to attend lectures since all the homework is on Pearson. The assignments given are defiantly lots of busy work but are interesting. She is very sweet and great professor along with all of her assistances.
Dr. Hudson is an amazing teacher. With covid, there is one in person class a week, accompanied by a few additional videos and a small quiz over them and textbook work. She and a fellow professor wrote the textbook, so she knows what she is talking about. Be ready for 4 mandatory easy study sessions and also doing a few psych research things.
Loved Dr. Hudson. Does consist of lots of reading and revel quizzes weekly but they are very interesting! Honestly Psychology is very useful for every major and it teaches you a lot. Dr. Hudson is wonderful and her lectures are interesting. One of the only classes I could never zone out in. I would take another class with her. I will miss her.
The blended version of this class is so easy. You don't have to go to class at all to pass with flying colors. Highly Recommend her class.
Not gonna lie, this entire class was on quizlet. There were about 300 students the first week then by the end of the semester we were pushing 50. I took it as a hybrid class, so lecture was only once a week. It does take some time to go through the book and do all the modules, plus there's 5 (short) videos to watch and a short quiz every week.
For abnormal psy we only met once a week. There is a lot of reading, but if you just need to pass the class everything is on quizzlet. On lecture she focuses only in the most important stuff but for the exam you'll need to check the book as well. Put a little effort and you'll get an A.
This class might as well have been online, but Dr. Hudson was amazing. You never have to go to class unless you are struggling, as all she does is go over some material in more detail and explain the textbook for those confused. Offers 30 extra credit points which literally gave me a 101% in her class. All the homework and quizzes are on Quizlet.
She writes her own textbooks and expects students to only learn things in her way. Shes hard to ask questions to and makes assignments due at noon. You take tests in person while using lockdown.
This class was interesting and very easy. Dr. Hudson is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. If you read the textbook you do not even have to attend class to know what is going on, but I suggest you do anyway because it is a fun class.
She is a really good professor, she cares a lot. Tests are online and open book so dont stress about those. You can find a lot of studying things are quiz let. Tests and quizzes mainly maks up your grade.
dr hudson is a nice professor but i don't like her teaching style. for online, she's way too picky about discussion boards (which is ridiculous). her tests have wordy, confusing questions that she makes herself from her own textbook. and i don't like that things are due at weird times (mon & fridays @ noon). class could have been WAY easier.
The reading are super long and take forever You meet once a week and she tries to cover so much material in one class period. You don't really have to show up for class because it more of just a review from the online reading but you can lose points. The test are not that hard just wordy questions that can be difficult
If you don't like reading an entire textbook multiple times, don't take this class.
This course was much more difficult than it should have been. In order for me to receive A's on exams, I would spend 9-10 hours for several days combing through materials. She claims to not add information to trick you, but all of the questions have 2 right answers, one is just more right. Overall, there is no reason for this to be a hard class.
Disliked the class personally, lots of stuff you do online rather than being taught in class. Also lots of it was on quizlet so it was nice for that part.
I've never had a class where the professor was so available and willing to help out students. The class was challenging, but there was a ton of extra credit opportunities. There was quite a bit of online work, but it helped with easily accessible study tools.
Dr. Hudson is a great spy 121 teacher. She makes class fun and easy. She provides a little bit of extra credit at the end of the year. Sometimes I would get bored during her slides but other than that it wasn't too bad.
First off she seems like a very intelligent person and that she really cares for her students. That being said she seems to make things more difficult than they need to be. You teach yourself psych and going to class is fairly pointless but you get points off if you don't attend. Reading and hw is due at noon which is inconvenient.
Your entire class is online. You're forced to come to class once a week for Dr. Hudson to make her way through the slides with poor examples and terrible jokes. It is incredibly hard to stay focused during lecture due to the lack of excitement about the class. If I'm going to teach myself an entire course online, I'd like my refund @MOState.
Dr. Hudson is a very knowledgable and intelligent professor. Everything is basically online, with a mandatory class once a week for lecture. I do believe that lectures are helpful in her class. I never got below and B on her exams, and even when I did get a B, she emailed me and congratulated me. If you put in the effort, you'll do great!
Dr. Hudson is a good PSY prof. My course was half online half in person. Most things were done on revel, but attendance was mandatory once a week. 4 tests plus a final. Tests are a little difficult, but using the text book helps. Overall, a decently easy PSY credit.
She is knowledgeable. You will have to read a lot and attend classes. Her class was based online and if you stay attentive, you will do well. A lot of reading and the unit tests were having a good amount of difficulty. But if you read all of the chapters, you will really know things about Psychology! I tried my best and I am glad I did well! :))
Easy if you do the assignments and listen in class. Lectures are almost verbatim the textbook so you only have to pay attention to one. Tests not too hard, all multiple choice. Attendance is very important.
While this class is practically teaching yourself psych, I found that the lectures did help clear up common questions and anything similar. I would have hated the textbook work if it didn't have text to speech, since besides the exams, that is all of your work. The SLA's were also a HUGE help for me. Would 100% take another class of her's.
you have to read her online textbook to pass. this class was common sense. just review all the textbook questions and you will do great on the test
Class is super fun and interesting! You have to read and take quizzes on a chapter each week but I find the readings interesting and easy to follow! There are three exams taken on lockdown browser. Attendance is mandatory but I only met once a week!
This class was average. Dr. Hudson wrote her own textbook, and you will be expected to read it cover to cover, like, genuinely. Tests were pretty close to the reading and homework, and she does give 30 points of extra credit. She really does nothing; her 5 assistants do everything. Overly difficult for intro psychology, but doable.
Dr.Hudson is a pretty good professor. Shes quick to read and respond to emails, and also has a few TA's you can use for resources. It is kinda annoying that you have to go to lecture and re-learn all the things you just read and quizzed over in the text book- but sometimes its helpful. I would take her class again.
The way the class is structured was frustrating at times (the textbook questions were due before the lecture about the chapter), and since the class was so large, it was hard to get in-class clarification, but Dr. Hudson is an amazing teacher, person, and psychologist. While I never went to office hours, she's more than willing to talk after class.
This class was one you just need to get through, if it is required like it was for me. Hudson is a good teacher and cares but the homework due every week can be pretty grueling. Do your assignments and just try on the test, I did this and spent the most minimal time on homework and still got a B. Not that hard but not that easy either.
