Professor McGuckian is an amazing professor. He was able to make stats enjoyable. He teaches directly from the book and in keeps class interesting with in class activities. His class is not easy but its not hard. If you go to class and take notes you will pass. He's funny and keeps students motivated.

EXCELLENT! He breaks down and explains the content in a realistic, non-mathematical terminological way so you can understand it in practical terms. Homework is not required (only for your better understanding). Post sample tests online b4 his test, goes over it in class, and even substitutes your lowest grade with the final. He is extremely funny.

Very clear and very fair. It's a shame FIU doesn't have nearly as many professors like him. Take his class if you have to take any stats class. Highly recommended.

Good class. He knows a lot about statistics. Don't really need the book. Keep up with his notes and show up for class if you want to learn! Material is hard to teach yourself. Copy the problems he does in class. He provides sample exams and answers to prepare you for the tests. He gets pissed if you talk in his class, so pay attention.

AWESOME teacher! The subject can be confusing but he finds ways to explain them in ways we would understand such as relating the stuff to real & interesting situations. He's funny & he definitely knows his stuff. If u go to class & study his notes & reviews you'll do fine. He also allows us to have formula sheets during exams. He's great!

In my opinion this professor is like any other one. If you need help, he will give it to you. His exams are not easy and are tricky, if you want to do welll you will have to put extra time and learn from the book or the samples he gives, going to class is not enough.

This teacher is really great. He wants everyone in his class to geat a good grade. He makes math bareable and takes his time to explain everything. His notes are online and his tests are based on the notes.

I adored this teacher. His methods of explaining everything were so clear that going to class was never a burden. The subject can get a little boring, so he tells jokes and stories which really keep you awake. Probably the best teacher I've had at FIU in all my 3 years. Oh, and did I mention he's not bad to look at?

Consider yourself lucky if you get him. No teacher will go to those lengths to help you pass. If you fail it is because you made absolutely no effort to pass.

He is one of the best teachers I've had. He takes the time to make sure you understand the problem. I wouldn't bother buying the book because he gives his examples and sample test. No homework,4 test and 1 Final(which you have to take) if you score high on the final he replaces it with your lowest test grade. Honestly if you fail its your own fault

He is the best! I really hate statistics but he makes the class interesting. He honestly cares about every student (unless you're rude or lie about your relations with women. . . lol). Don't expect to get something for nothing . . .

He is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. Explains everything to the point and is EXTREMELY helpful. Use everything that he gives you because you WILL need it. Don't think about skipping class though, every class is extremely important and will guarantee you will get an A. I wish I followed my own advice.

His classes are really helpful but attendance is not mandatory. You can do well if you go to all his classes and just take a few notes. He reviews before a test and gives you examples that would be on the test. He lets you take formula sheets to his exams. Exams are easy too. I went from a D to an A- for my final grade.

He is the best professor in the mathematics department by far. He is simply amazing. I hated math and was horrible yet got a A in his class. Class notes are online other going to the lectures helps alot. He gives sample tests before and test questions come from there with different numbers. His tests are pretty easy, allows a formula card and gives practice tests that are almost exactly like the real thing. Homework will definitely help you, but not completely necessary depending on the grade you want. Don't slack at the end when it gets hardest.

If you are required to take stats, take this professor! I am horrible at math and I got a B. Very helpful, allows you to bring formula cards, and posts practice tests before the exam. I don't see how anyone could fail this class.

The best teacher at FIU so far!!! He makes every concept very clear to understand. His test arent hard at all. Just do his practice exams, go to class, and you will do good! Best stat teacher you can get. Take him if you have the chance, and you should pull a high grade no problem. I never even went to class and got A's on all the exams, but I wouldn't recommend that if you suck at stats. He's good at explaining if you don't understand though. Also young, so it helps him relate to students better.

BEST MATH & STATS anywhere in Florida. I recommend going to Class cause he explains perfectly, test are not super easy but not hard if you study. Very good professor. He makes stats very fun to learn and easy to remember. If you come to class, pay attention and take notes you cannot do worse than a C. The formula cards he provides are extremely helpful on the tests. Do not forget to study for them because even though he tells you exactly what will be on it, you need to know how to do it.

He is very helpful and the class is real easy. Make sure you attend class everyday so that you keep up with the material and do the sample exams before the tests and the A will come.

McGuckian rules! If you are not a math person and repeatedly have problems in math class, I highly recommend you take McGuckian. He won't baby you by staying on top of your progress for you. It's not HS! But he's fair, teaches well, provides good videos, and explains things in a way you'll understand. You won't waste your time & money here.

Probably the best teacher I've ever had for any math class. To clarify I'm the worst student when it comes to math but this professor has to have been the most helpful in class and during office hours. Clearly explains subjects so that everyone understands and to top if all off he keeps the class fun so you don't fall asleep.

There is no textbook, and he lets you get bonus points if you use an iClicker. (Register that promptly.) His assignments are just like his lectures and notes, so there's no surprise when you take an exam. He, like other professors, allows you to bring formula and tables to every exam. Spring 2011 students passed easily, but now it's harder.

McGuckian is the greatest math prof at FIU. Not only has he mastered how to teach his students, but he also made the class interesting through real life stats and examples. He makes this class really simple. With that said, you have to do everything he says for it to be simple. Don't expect to JUST get an A. You will have to study and do the homework. I hate math and I got an A in the class, didn't do that much homework and didn't have perfect attendance. He offers to meet with students after class and helps them a lot, even though I didn't take advantage of this. His stats professor website helped me get 100's on the tests and I only studied for two days. Great teacher and he is very fun too.

If you don't pass his class you didn't try because his class was extremely easy. I got As on every test simply by doing the homeworks he assigned on his website and going to every lecture. The homework is really easy and most of it will be on the test! He even tells you what is going to be on the test so you know what to practice!

Easy A for me. I'm pretty good at math but he made the class fun and entertaining. No need to buy the book. You need a clicker for extra credit points and that's it. Great dude!

This class is simple if you go to class and if you keep up with the assignments he gives you. Grade consists of four tests and four quizes. Prof made class interesting through humor and relative examples used throughout notes. Notes are online as well as assignments and grades.

Best stats professor, you really don't need to attend class because everything he will ask on the test is in videos on a site he created. Tests are tricky but if you study and do the homework (not graded) you'll get at least a B on every test.

I don't always attend class, so being able to catch up with the lecture or even clarify something I don't understand, is really helpful. Lectures are online so you don't have to go to class. 3 exams and 1 cumulative final. The final can be doubled if it is higher than 1 of your exam scores or if you missed a test. Lectures online are fantastic I never went to class besides for the tests.

He's awesome! He actually knows how to explain unlike a lot of math teachers. He has an online website that you buy for like 50 bucks but its worth it! The homework isn't collected, however, if you want to pass the exams you need to do it. Overall, I'd highly recommend anyone to take his classes.

Everyone goes on about how great this prof. is but truth is the class is very difficult. Studying is absolutely mandatory to pass and HW is really the best way to study. 4 test and a final, although if final grade is higher than a test it will replace the lowest grade. Professor McGukian is an amazing teacher. The course is tuff, however if you show up to do the work you shouldn't have any problems. Professor McGukian is more then generous with extra credit and he wants nothing more than to see his students pass. i was hesitant in taking the professor because of some of the bad reviews but come on guys math is hard! i came into his class with the mindset of working hard i did all the hw and bought his membership for the website that has videos on whats in class. i worked my butt off but he made it easy to understand he was awesome! very clear!

Listen if you don't complete the homework there's no way you can pass the class. It was my second time taking stats and i had to study my butt off to get an A in this class. It is important to form study groups, because i wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for the my study partners. The sample exams are similar to the exam questions. DO YOUR HW!!!

Stats is not easy for those who struggle with math but he makes it as simple as possible, although his exams are difficult. You MUST truly understand the material to pass them. He wants everyone to pass at least 70% of the class must have a C or greater and he will curve if needed. I used the material he provided on BB and it was pretty good.

My favorite math professor ever. Took him both for Stats 1 & Stats 2 because he is just so straight forward. Great professor! I am currently taking him for summer b which is only 6 weeks so the class is probably more fast paced. If you put the time and sit down and watch his videos and practice, you should be fine. No book is needed as he has his own website you just have to pay $50 and it is worth it! So I basically learned everything on my own with his website, by paying the $50. Don't regret it one bit because that thing is God and I passed everything because of it. That being said, I learned everything through the site at home and never went to class, except for when I had to test. We had lab. The homework is entirely optional. No textbook.

Professor Dane McGuckian is a wonderful professor. You know you've met a special educator when they can make a difficult subject seem easy. I took him twice, and even though I was a poor math student in High School, I always felt that I had all the tools I needed to do well. FIU is very lucky to have him.

He's so-so at lectures, but his syllabus is clear. He only grades 4 exams, 3 regular, 1 the final, but they each only consist of two chapters. You don't have to attend class if you buy his mystatsprofessor subscribtion for 50 bucks; it's worth it because you'll never have to come to class again. I failed Stats 2 twice and I passed this course easy.

Going to lecture helps, but missed damn near half of them, I did "stats professor" a website he has, there practice exams there for you to test yourself, its $50 btw. I took this class online & it was honestly the best decision! Professor McGuckian doesn't require a textbook and his exams are all based off his lecture videos (WATCH THEM!), and homework (not required). Professor McGuckian was by far the best professor Ive had at FIU! I took this Professor in fall 2018 for STA 2122 and in Spring 2019 for Stats 3123 and I received an A in both classes. His lectures werent mandatory, but I still went because they were very interesting. Also, hes available for office hours and was helpful in answering questions!

Take this Professor for STATS! Especially if you are someone who was worried about taking this type of class online. He makes it so simple and actually interesting to learn. He connects it to the real world and really is thourough in his explainations and tons of resources! There is only graded tests the "homework" is for practice.

There are four exams, three of which are not proctored. He makes the lectures and the (optional) assignments are easy to understand and do. He teaches shortcuts instead of asking you to do the long complicated methods, which is nice. He also provides a cheat sheet for the final.

He is amazing! if you really want to understand statistics and do well, Prof. McGuckian is the one.

Took him for summer A on an online course. Was very challenging because the final grade was solely based off 4 tests, but he provided great video explanations and was always available to email/ask questions. I can tell he cares about the students and their grades. Gives fat curves when needed and if I could take him in person I would.

This man is a god. You're graded on 4 exams only, he curves if needed. If you complete SPOTS, you get extra credit. He's available outside of class. Complete the lecture and practice exams, you'll easily pass with an A. Exams are super similar to the lecture problems, HW, and practice exams. Only the final exam is proctored. TAKE HIM!!!

Took him for Stats 1 & 2, it was a breeze. 5 exams, only the final is proctored. His website helps so much, it's easy to learn the material. Do the lecture, HW, and practice exams to get an A in the class (these things aren't graded, just for practice). I'd take him again if I could, he's the best and always willing to help. He curves if needed.

Professor McGuckian is a gem he knows his stuff when it comes to statistics. He has a website with lectures and homework's however nothing is required and the only grades you'll get are 4 exams throughout the semester. If you actually do them though you will breeze through the course, his lectures aren't required but I would recommend them.

3 tests and one final. His test are multiple choice and only 27 qestuions. study his hw and lab questions and you will ace every test. No hw only tests

Professor McGuckian is amazing! Calculus never clicked for me but he made statistics so easy to understand. Attendance, HW, labs and sample exams are not required but STRONGLY recommended if you want an A in the class. He's super helpful for any questions you have and cares about his students. I ended class with an A because I did all this.

Prof McGuckian is an amazing math teacher&makes stats easy to understand. I think he's the best math professor at FIU. Provides slides he lectures off in class, hw/attendance is not mandatory but strongly recommended. He provides everything you need to succeed. If he is available, take him. Cant wait to take him for stats II. Nothing bad to say.

He doesn't assign hw but you have the option to do it. He is a great teacher and you have so many resources to study from. If you pay attention and actually study and practice, i promise you will learn. It's not hard material at all. He is also really funny and caring, you can come to him with questions and he will answer. He's also really nice.

Excellent teacher. The class was honestly not hard at all. If you understand what's going on in class and just review when you get home to make sure you have the concepts down you'll easily get an A in this class. I wish I would've done that myself. I would easily take him again and am for stats 2. Super nice guy too and he's pretty funny. 9/10

Amazing professor! I took him for Stats 1 and 2. Attendance isn't mandatory, there's an online website with a tentative schedule of what will be taught each class and you can teach yourself based off that but you do have to present for all tests (idk about online, my class was F2F). 100% take him. Do hw and practice exams for tests, they help a lot

4 Exams make up your grade and that's it. Attendance is not mandatory because he has his own website with all the lectures and homework. If you just use his website to study before the exams you'll be fine, exams are easy and and almost exactly like the sample exams found on his website. One of the only math courses I enjoyed taking at FIU

McGuckian puts 100% into ensuring his students get an A in his class. His website, Stats Professor, reviews all the lecture notes (and other study resources) so you don't have to worry about missing content. The prof is super approachable and made stats 1 easy for me. I'm glad I'm taking him for Stats 2 soon. 10/10 recommend.

Professor McGuckian uses all of his own materials for this class, which is a positive. He broke down concepts and made them easier to understand than any math textbook I've read. However, I do wish there was some homework or quizzes that we were graded on as opposed to only the four exams.

This professor was really good. Attendance was not mandatory and all his lessons were on line. He shows that he wants all his students to pass and will help you if you have questions. He has so far been my favorite professor at FIU. Definitely recommend and you should take him.

Pretty simple class if you do the homework (not graded). Uses life examples to help grasp concepts better. Tests are 100% of your grade +extra credit

Professor McGuckian is AMAZING. I am NOT good at math, and I still managed to get a B in this class. No book, just a website he created, doesn't require you to turn anything in, you just work on homework on your own & watch his videos, and then you are graded on 4 exams. He curves final by a LOT, and you literally WILL pass. TAKE HIM :)

He makes stats seem easy. No homework, only exams, no textbook just his web page. Clear exams and grading. Amazing

Great professor. Has a website with videos for every problem he covers. Only grades come from the exams, 4 exams and 1 final. He doesn't check attendance but it's just better to go anyways.

Just 4 exams with honorlock, no HW or classes to attend. Super easy class. The only thing is I feel like I paid to teach myself but for how nice this class was to take, I can't complain.

PROFESSOR DANE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT FIU. IF YOU DONT PASS THATS BECAUSE YOU LITERALLY DIDNT TRY. VERY CARING AND WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO PASS.ALSO HE HAS HIS OWN WEBSITE WHICH IS AWESOME HE HAS EVERYTHING ON THEIR PRACTICE MATERIALS AND SO FORTH! I RECOMMEND !!!!!!!!

Don't take him if you procrastinate / can't work on your own. You are graded by 4 tests and small percentage of lab. I struggled because the homework is not graded so you teach yourself. He has his own website for lectures and homeworks. He's a great guy and a good prof but his tests are difficult and tricky. Hours of studying to barely pass.

I promise you if you go to lecture you cannot fail. He tells you question by question what is going to be on the exam- literally tells you which answer choice to pick, any trick wording, key words, etc. The exams are exactly like the HW you have so much material to practice with, you don't have to guess. The class is so clear and organized.

He is a great professor I actually understood what I was doing and I passed all the test. Homework isn't graded and he only grades the tests but his grade scale is different and he will curve tests if needed

Your grade is only determined by three exams and a final and the homework was optional so it wasn't for a grade. You'd really have to hold yourself accountable to study and work for your grade but honestly if you took stats in high school you're fine, its easy, extra credit opportunities, and the professor is super nice and answers quickly.

I had Dane McKugian for STA 2023 and he was incredible. The grade is based on 3 exams and a final, and the final replaces your lowest exam grade. He gives really good study guides, and as long as you put in the effort and stay motivated, it's very easy to do well in his class.

No homework, only grades are the exams. He gives guided lectures with homework (not for a grade) that he creates. Make sure to study. 3 exams, no Honorlock or lockdown browser. The final is Honorlock, which he gave a study guide for. Super chill class.

No HW, only graded based on exams. He makes it ridiculously easy to pass, just do your part and do the optional HW to get practice. He also has his own website where he has explanations of every question. He is also a great lecturer and is super nice! Took him for Stats 1 and Stats 2 because he is just awesome!!
