Easy to understand...if you're looking to be overstressed by a class don't look here
No Comments
she's very nice and her lectures are very clear :)
Very easy if you can memorize lots of facts
just dit there and write down everyting she does and you'll be all set
Awesome Teacher, Very Clear, and makes things real easy
Great class, keeps you awake
Class is very intresting and kinda easy. If you take all her notes and read what she assings (which isnt much) and youll do fine.
Shes really nice, a little cynical. Makes it very easy to understand. Bi-weekly quizzes make it easy to study for midterm/final
Rocks are boring, lots of notes and facts but if you can memorize everyhting for the quizzes and test you will do fine. She is friendly.
She writes down everything you need to know on an overhead projector, so you just need to copy what she writes. Quizzes every other week, lowest grade dropped. Boring at times, but not a difficult class at all if you don't mind studying notes.
really nice, and she's really fair.
def. take one of her science classes!! do not take francine jackson's or brian blais!! shes nice and she her tests and quizzes r pretty easy if u study and go to class!
Clear and to the point. Does not have attendance policy. Bi-weekly quizzes, midterm, and final. Everything is based off of notes that she writes down in class. Barely use book.
Most Boring class, that you actually have to go to in order to do well on the biweekly quizes and tests.
Very nice lady, almost all material is given on overhead notes, and does not require attendance. You barely use the book. A quiz every two weeks- easy if you study the reading. Tests are pretty easy if you memorize.
Very boring. All you do is take notes and listen. Tests and quizzes are veyr detailed and she is a pretty tough grader but passable. Just take good notes and read what she says and you'll do fine
all u have to do is go to class, quizzes are straight from notes and so is midterm and final. one of the easier science teachers
I really like this lady. Very easy, all notes are written on overhead in class. Just show up, copy them down, memorize them....and waalllaa, you have yourself an A. Very clear and helpful should you actually need it
You are an idiot if you don't get high B, or A's on the quizzes. No attendance policy, take it with a friend you trust and switch days, if you did that you could still get an A.
dont ever go to class
I love the ocean, so it was a breeze, but for everyone else its a really good class, videos and presentations, notes are clear on overhead, tells you what are on the 2 tests or 6 quizzes, dropping the lowest one, no attendance, take this class
Very interesting class, no mandatory attendance, just dont miss the quizzes. Pretty much you watch presentations from this CD (not to boring) and you take notes, definitely take her
Great teacher. Only expects you to know what she teaches. Very little book work.
whitaker is such a cool lady. all you do is take notes every class and get tested on those exact notes. she also said she tried smoking weed one time.
One of the few classes I've gotten an A in. Just quizes and 2 tests. She makes the class easy to understand.
she actually makes the class interesting...very easy class, and she's a fair grader...one of the best professors at bryant
All of the people who say she is good are freakin' nuts....she makes you sit there and copy notes off of an overhead, SOOOOOOO BORING. She has two exams of like 100 pages of notes. Then their is stupid bi-weekly quizes. Overall this class is terrible, I would rather poke my eye out with a blunt knife.
Soooooo much material in this class!! Her exams I found to be very difficult (and yes I studied quite hard); I've heard she's better in Oceanography, but for Geology stay away! I too would also poke my eye out with a blunt knife instead of taking this class again.
SO F'ING HARD
Soooo hard... quizzes every other week... You need to memorize like 10 pages of your notes for just a QUIZZZ...It's stupid... I can't think of how much I need to memorize for the exam...
50 pages of notes to memorize for the midterm...
ok heres the deal with Dana, i heard she was too easy before so now she had to step it up a bit, of my 5 classes i studied more here than any other, very very very thourough, if you wanna be a geology major take her, but what the heck we are in a business school. youll study in this class than any other class i promise you, dont be fooled
Great class, second half of the semester is so easy. If you make it pass the midterm you are golden.
I took both Geology and Oceanography with her, in that order. Geology was a breeze, and lets just say i sunk with the ship in Oceanogrpahy. Never again

I took her for both Geology and Biology. Her class lectures are very easy to follow and she outlines everything for you. You will have to study (quizzes every other week and 2 exams) but it is very doable to get an A in her classes.
stay away
she is the best, understands we are not here for science, so easy and clear, go to class and take the page of notes, read them before quizzes and tests and you will be fine...anyone who fails her class must be comatose
Just two tests, and some quizzes, so not a lot of work, but test questions are very specific so you have to put more effort into studying than a typical 200-level class.
Every class consists of 15 minute slideshow and 35 minutes of notes. She is nice but you HAVE to study several days before test to be able to memorize all the information for her in depth quizes. Overall, she is fair and its up to you whether or not you study for the 4 quizes, midterm and final (all the questions are right from the notes/reading.
She is a good teacher. Very interesting subject. She makes it easy to understand. Take the class.
Awesome prof, enthusiastic about course material, uses visuals and clear about notes to take. You have to study but she specifies exacly what sections u have to read out of the textbook so u dont waste time. Best in the Sci Dept.
tough course, dry material through midterm. A quiz every other week and a midterm and final make up your grades (1/3 for each). You must study and put adequate effort into this course or your grade will suffer.
Study your notes, study your notes, study your notes. She's nice, if you study these quizzes are not hard - if you study those notes, your midterm is not hard. This is the easiest class ever, just study your notes!
Probably the best geology teacher, considering the other two are horrible. Straight-forward class. 6quizzes, a midterm, and final; each count for 1/3 of your grade. Each class is mostly notes(a lot) and some power point slides. She knows definitly knows her stuff, but she always talk in sarcasm. She's not a fan of questions in class either
Great professor. Gave us the option to either split our grades in 2 parts (quizzes + first exam) or 3 parts (quizzes + first exam + final) which worked out nicely. Class isn't mandatory, but 90% of the material is from lecture notes. 10% is from the readings she assigns (which are like 3pgs a week). Take her! :)
Nice lady, easy class... what else could you want? Does overhead projector notes, which are straightforward and end up on 6 quizzes through the semester. Only a small section on each one covers book material. Midterm and final. If you take the notes and know them, it is extremely easy.
I loved her! I sat up front and she'll talk to you like an actual human being. Class is pretty easy - I knew nothing about BIO but she breaks it down for you and makes it really easy to understand. Helps you out with your grade too. Take notes and study for the tests a little and you'll get an A. Take her!
Awesome Teacher! Never had an interest in BIO but now I love it...classes are easy just take the notes and study before each quiz even if its last minute! She is hilarious and makes you feel comfortable in her class
SHE IS AMAZINGGG!!! She makes class so much fun and so interesting. She tells us stories that relate to class material that are hilarious. Great person, and she actually teaches. My bio class grade was 7 quiz grades, drops the lowest 2, and a final. I'm taking her again for oceanography next semester!
AMAZING TEACHER! you have 8 quizzes and she drops the lowest 2, barely use the book, great lecture, and really nice teacher. I'm definitely taking her again for another course
She is a really good professor if you are good at memorizing a lot of information. You can know nothing about the subject and still pull a good grade if u are great at memorizing stuff. Besides that I think I have not learned much in this class as I use to memorize all the notes the night before the exam and forget everything I had done after it.
She is a nice lady, only writes notes on the board and talks the entire time, only grades is mid-term, final and 4 out of 5 quizzes.
She is a GREAT professor. I was never interested in biology until I attended her class. Five Quizzes and drop the lowest one. However, she makes you earn everything.
Even though I had withdrawn in the end (Personal reasons), She is an excellent professor. Her teaching style is really clear. Just make sure you make every class because you will fall behind and miss the notes. She teaches out of her own knowledge and doesn't rely on a textbook. I really love her quirky sense of humor, makes class more enjoyable.
Whittaker is really nice and will clarify anything you don't understand. 5 quizzes, drops one, a midterm and a final are your only grades. The only thing I did not like was how specific her questions were on exams. Take this class seriously and memorize every detail of your notes and assigned reading and you should get at least a B.
Really helpful gives plenty of notes during class notes given in class are in sync with tests and quizzes. Midterms and final require memorization of massive amounts of information. Her sense of humor keeps class interesting would take her again. If you participate alot she will give you a little boost at the end of the semester.
All you do in class it take notes that she writes on a projector. For quizzes and tests all you have to do is memorize the information. We had 5 quizzes, she drops the lowest, and a midterm and final. The midterm and final have a lot of information but its just a matter of memorizing the material, not hard.
Terrible. no actual learning just test taking. A waste of time. A very sweet lady though.
She writes everything on the projector. She is very easy to listen to and take in what she says. I just coppied my notes over before quizzes and did great.
She's the best. Very sweet but has this funny witty sense of humor that comes out and you cant help but laugh. Your grade is 33% midterm. 4/5 quizzes (33%) and the final exam (everything midterm on). Its pretty hard since its just that, unless you can memorize easily. Gives informal extra credit. Just be nice and show that you care. Great professor
She is very passionate about what she is teaching to students and is very sweet; however, some of her classes are more difficult than others. She is an amazing professor if you are taking bio or oceanography but geology is a lot harder. Her geology class is a lot of memorization and she goes in depth with the material more than other professors.
This class is gonna take up a lot of time. It was by far my hardest final to study for too. You are graded on the midterm, final and averages of 3 quizzes. You have to memorize a crazy amount of information word for word to pull of even a B. I worked my butt off for a B this semester.
she is nice if you get to know her but her quizzes are incredibly hard and the midterm and final are even harder. she writes out all of her notes. the formatting of the quizzes and test is awful and you basically have to memorize everything from the notes to d well.
Very sweet lady. There are no assignments - entire grade is made up of three quizzes and two exams. Offers extra credit. Quizzes and exams are very difficult and are just pure memorization. You barely use the textbook, however, she assigns reading for the quizzes and exams that have nothing to do with the topics discussed in class.
Classes are just lectures for the entire year, nothing else. A few videos here and there but most of it is reading off a powerpoint. She is nice and passionate about what she teaches but it is hard to stay engaged when it is a science class at a business school. Quizzes and tests are really hard but all of the information is in her powerpoints
Believes that if her students grade averages are above a 77 she will be fired. After the first quiz my class did "too good". Her response was to purposely try to fail us on our midterm and following quiz. Never had a teacher with such a negative outlook on their job, do not take.
Only does scantrons, not really empathetic towards students, lectures only and favors certain students. She just spits out information as you take notes. Its a memorization class (Oceanography) and we barely learned about the ocean?
The worst professor you could take, only goes through slideshows in class and your grade is determined by 3 quizzes, the midterm, and the final, also you will not know your grade semester she doesnt post them, overall never take this professor if you want a good grade
Prof Whitaker was a great bio professor. Clearly very passionate about what she teaches and she'll often go off and tell us stories. Class isn't too hard, just pay attention and you'll do just fine. The quizzes and tests are all made from the slide content which are always posted on canvas. Was glad I took her class
I enjoyed coming to Professor Whitaker's class. She is very knowledgeable and has a passion for what she does. The class is lecture heavy and is only graded off 4 quizzes, the midterm, and final. As long as you pay attention and try to participate, you should do fine.
Do not recommend taking her at all. Save yourself the time and take geology or astrology. Quizzes are so hard and curves them with absurd numbers. oftentimes at least 10 points. She gives you so much information for no reason. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! Or even biology in general.
Only graded on quizzes/exams, really lecture heavy. Overall don't take but if you do take with caution.
Prof Whitaker is well versed in her subject matter and is a highly experienced teacher. She is deeply committed to her subject matter and her delivery manner, while intense at times, is very understandable. You will learn from her.
very hard, do not take it unless you want to sit and listen to her yap each class, for each minute. Graded on 4 quizzes and 2 tests, no study guides given, reads off of slides, extremely boring.
No homework, only graded on 4 quizzes and 2 exams but they are all heavily scaled. Her lectures can drag on but are interesting and super informative. One of my favorite classes I have taken at Bryant, highly recommend.
she yaps every class, so boring, powerpoint teaching every class, 4 quizzes but she drops the lowest, mid term and final, no homework, multiple choice only but SUPER SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, need to memorize every slide to do good
She's super interactive during lectures and wants you to enjoy them. She tries to make it as interesting as possible. People who are saying her quizzes/exams are impossible aren't putting effort in, yeah you have to devote a lot of time to her class, but if you do it's really not all that hard. Just study her slides over and over and you'll be fine
DO NOT TAKE! Lowest grade I've received at Bryant (C-) and I was on Deans List. Makes you memorize everything for exams and no study guides given. Not sure why this even is a class at Bryant.
Very nice women, very passionate, enjoyed her class alot. only graded on 5 exams and a easy video assignment. she curves the tests over ten points every time so if you study all the slides before hand you should be fine.
the class was simple, pay attention, ask questions, take notes on the slides, and most importantly show up to class. if you do all of these you will get good grades on the exams and pass the class with a great grade. Most people didn't do this and got bad grades where she curved the exams to meet a certain average and it always helped you.
Professor Whitaker loves what she teaches and clearly lays out what is expected of you in the course
