The professor started this summer (2011) at FGCU. By far the most incomprehensible professor i've ever had. His accent is so incredibly strong, that it's impossible to understand what he is saying. Thankfully I was able to self teach the course using the book and exam study guide. Don't consider this professor unless you plan to self teach.
Good professor, knows a lot about the subject, and really cares about the students in the class as long as you show interest. He does have a really strong accent which makes it hard to understand but if you keep asking questions he will keep answering them. Uses the course packet, makes study uides, and goes over everything pretty thoroughly.

He is a good professor that cares about students who try but at the beginning he was a little difficult to understand. He's excited about the material and wants to help but never just gives answers away. Accounting is my major and I enjoyed him, but others didn't love it. He uses a study guide packet that is helpful and his tests aren't too bad!
He's a great professor, he can be a bit hard to understand some times. But I would take him again for another class is I could.

Excellent Professor, I am from Santa Fe and took a summer class at FGCU, I wish all my professor teaches and care about student like him. If you don't understand a concept, just go to his office, he will have all the time for you, using different examples to clarify it Be prepared for the second exams.
The most concerned Professor, I have had since my college experience, I took summer class in FGCU, I am a UF student. Prof. Acheampong spent time helping me on the material, he shows up about 15 mins before class and discuss any problems and summarize the previous class meeting at the beginning of each class. Awesome Professor.
Excellent Prof. Exams review is the best, He goes right to the point, explain the concepts in detail and always ready to answer any questions, even in the hallway. Can't wait to take the second class from him.
I saw that he got good reviews so I took him. He has a very thick accent and he is hard to understand. I am good with business and math and I had a hard time in his class. You REALLY need to read the book and study all of your notes for this class to get a good grade.
Great Prof. will take him again if he was teaching other classes. You need to attend class, listen very attentive, great exams review. Very helpful on homework, when you got to the office. No easy way around the class, but still got an A
Great professor! Take his course! Although he does have a thick accent, he is genuinely concerned for his students and take his time to help you understand the concepts. He even helped me with questions during the final.
Great Professor, friendly, (but don't get deceived) He will not add even a point to your grade nor give you any answers, great reviews before every exams, prepares you well, write down every statement he repeats like three times. it will be on the exams.

Took him over the summer, I am from UF, I wish he is teaching at UF, Great Exams review and Mock practice. Always available in the office to help, I completed almost all my homework in his office. Thank you Dr. Acheampong for being a great Teacher.
Excellent Professor, the mock quiz was far difficulty than the exams, after going through the mock quiz, the exam made more sense, need to pay attention and sometimes he goes too fast. Love for him to teach Finance but he said no, he is not in that department
Unsure of the good ratings. By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Horrible attention span, never answers questions ask, impossible to understand, hand writing is a mess. I have nothing posative to say about this class. Friendly person, but not a good teacher, at least for my learning style. Always felt angry and frusterated in class.
He is a really good professor! Makes a difficult class as easy as possible. Definitely not an "easy A" class, but he is great at helping the students learn the material as best as he can. Go to class, study A LOT, and you'll be fine. Don't be scared to take him, he's not bad at all. I have an A.
I took this class with this professor because of the good ratings, and I regret listening to anyone that had anything nice to say. He was impossible to understand, and I'd say he was a nice guy, but he's not! He was incredibly rude and laughed at people that had questions. You can barely pass if you go to tutoring, but save the headache.

I was nervous because everyone told me to take Conrecode, but I'm glad I took him instead. If I could take him for other courses, I would in a heartbeat!
If you want a class where you can just coast by and not apply yourself, don't take Dr A's class. He is a great teacher, patient and sets you up to succeed. Love the mock quizzes, But you must do your part, study, homework
Awesome professor! His accent really isn't bad. I could understand him very well. The class is difficult, but if you listen, study, and do all the homework and mock quizzes, the tests are a breeze.
The only thing bad I have to say is that the homework is ridiculously hard... but the tests are easy in comparison! He has a pretty strong African accent, but it's not difficult to understand him. & he really wants all his students to succeed. He gives points for answering questions in class. If you have a high C, he'll give you a B- Awesome prof
GREAT PROFESSOR. FIN, and MAN accounting are not easy courses. Homework is long and difficult, mock quizzes are moderate, but both make the exams look very easy. Go to class, and pay attention. He will bend over backwards to see you pass. He will work with you, if you work with him. READ TEST DIRECTIONS FOR EXTRA POINTS!
Not a good professor. His accent is really hard to understand, so is his hand writing. He has outlined notes but he jumps around on them and doesn't fill some parts in. Don't ask questions in class, he will either tell you to wait and never come back to them or make a joke about you asking. Could be a nice guy, but is not a good teacher. Don't Take
I did have a hard time understanding this professor, but when I got over that fact and actually paid attention more, I did better. It is not impossible to to understand his accent. He is a genuine professor. YOU! have to put in the effort. This isn't grade school where someone has to hold your hand and tell you what to do. Get over yourself & work.

Really, really hard to understand. I find myself sitting there just trying to make out what he is saying than learning the material. Take Conrecode instead, if you can.
Many issues- You must Teach yourself or FAIL Each class that you are absent from he takes 15 points away, including the 1st absence. You cannot understand him when he speaks fast. He is RUDE, Condesinding and Comments on a person when they need help verse answering the question. He does't want to help, he says he does it for the easy paycheck
I had to spend 4 hours a week in tutoring and still did poorly on the test, I would get 100's on the homework and 90's on the mock quizzes then I would have test grades in the 50's. My tutors couldn't even understand his notes and homework to tach me. Any time anyone says they took Acheampong said they had to take him twice or drop the class.
homework is SO hard. I have never failed a homework assignment and i was failing almost every assignment, meanwhile my friends and breezing by in the class with other teachers. Expect to spend 20 hours a week on homework if you have no prior accounting experience. Ended up having to drop the class.
I would take an 8am class before I take Acheampong again. Very difficult class. Be prepared to spend several hours on homework & still not do as well as you hoped.
The bad ratings for Acheampong appear to be by students who clearly didn't feel their time was worth investing in the material. Homework requires you to read from the textbook, don't make the assumption you can digest everything needed to complete homework from class sessions alone. Ignore the misplaced blame on this guy, he is a decent teacher.
He has clear expectations and as long as you do the homework and mock quizzes, the tests are easy. Don't forget to bring your scan-tron.
For people reading this don't look at the negative comments down below. Acheampong is a nice guy, yes he is tough but honestly I'm glad I took him over Thompson. Fin and Man are hard classes so people take it out on him but he does teach really well. The tests are just hard but study well and you could pass!
GET READY TO STUDY...A LOT. I feel like managerial wouldnt be a bad class but professor acheampong does not do the best job at explaining the material. He goes too fast, and the tests are VERY difficult. I have a B- right now but thats because I'm studying my butt off right now.
Lectures aren't clear. He goes way too fast and writes very sloppy. Homework doesn't reflect the nonsense he goes over in class (if you managed to decrypt). The only way to get through HW is to pay for Chegg. The final is way too hard and a too big chunk of the grade. Steer clear of this guy.
Go to his office hours and he breaks the homework down, do not miss the exam reviews. The home work is hard and time consuming, but your key to pass the class, I enjoyed his class and wish he teaches upper level Accounting.
By no means is he an easy professor. For summer classes expect to spend around 10-15 hours a week on homework. He has a thick accent so it takes a little while to understand. go to tutoring and office hours for homework because it is the most difficult part of the class for sure. He does care about his students a great deal you just have to work!
One of the best accounting teachers I have ever had, he makes you work for your grade, put accounting is a competitive field with a high reward. If you spend the time on the homework, and mock quiz, his test are a breeze. The final was definitely the hardest test of his class. Will take the time to see him student succeed, just come prepared!!
He's very knowledgeable, but goes pretty fast on the lectures. He doesn't explain any processes and he wouldn't want to show the notes because he didn't want students to just copy the answer. That's fine, but it's hard to grasp the concepts of you can't visually picture his process. Hard homework too!
Do not take this professor for accounting, or any class for that matter. He is condescending and does a terrible job of annunciating his words while half heartedly explaining the material. If you can decipher his words through the thick accent, it might not be as bad. Homework is ridiculous. Quizzes are worded specifically to mess you up. Terrible.
This is the worst professor I have ever taken! You can't understand most of what he is saying and expects the students to understand the concept after barely going over it. Does not use class time effectively just makes condescending jokes. Horrible at replying to emails. Took 10-15 hours per week for homework, all questions formatted differently.

His Managerial Accounting class is a mixed bag. Gives very comprehensive reviews before each exam. You won't be able to miss more than 2 class sessions without losing points. Homework is VERY tedious (CheggStudy covers a lot of it, google it). His lectures provide good walkthroughs for solving problems, but don't apply to homework
I have much respect for this professor, he tries his best to explain things & can be funny. Other than that, I do not recommend this professor. His notes and homework are too extensive to really understand the material. He speeds through lectures and does not make helpful study guides. It is a tough class to begin with & he doesn't make it easier.

This is the only rating I have ever given to any professor. Like many others have said, DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! Has a twisted way of giving lectures and says everything is "easy". Homework is VERY tedious and difficult to understand compared to his lectures, he does not go over it in class.
If you are an Accounting major you will benefit greatly from this class. Dr. Acheampong will push you to understand the material by testing your critical thinking skills. Homework is difficult and time-consuming, but if you can do it, you'll do well in the class. Dr. A is very helpful during office hours if you go there prepared.
Prof. Acheampong knows the subject matter, be ready for hours of homework if you need help, he will bend his back for you, including coming in on weekends to help, Warning; this class is not for lazy students. You will work for your grade.
This professor is hands down the worst professor at FGCU. He does not know how to properly teach course material, and his lectures do not make much sense. IF YOU CAN TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANY PROFESSOR BUT HIM. You will spend hour upon hours on homework and still fail his class. This professor sets you up for fail, especially on exams.

One of, if not the worst teacher at FGCU. Does not explain why the correct answers are correct or where he got the numbers to get the correct answers. Accent makes him hard to understand. If you're thinking about taking him, don't and save yourself some time and money, as he pretty much sets you up to fail.
I love this professor. Yes, it is a hard class, but if you make an effort towards the class and go to his office hours, he really helps you out. The exams can be difficult, but if you take the practice quizzes and study you can pass the tests. The homework and quizzes can take hours, do not wait till last minute.
I see a lot of people complaining about this professor but I think their issue is the material not the teacher. You spend hours on his homework if you don't understand what you're doing, otherwise they take less than an hour a piece. He's very accessible and eager to help his students. Great prof for Accounting majors.
Dr Acheampong never explains anything. He rushes over the notes, doesn't answer questions and even calls students out for asking dumb questions. He doesn't care about his students and it really seems like he wants them to fail. After not preparing us for an exam, he decided to make the next one "even harder" so we "had to pass." Abrasive as hell.
Professor Acheampong is one of the best professors I've had. This is not a class to mess around with and you definitely have to complete all the assignments, go to class, and take good notes. He is very willing to help students succeed and will take the time to explain anything you are confused on if you just ask. One of my favorite professors!

I've taken this professor twice; first time I wasn't trying. Have to put in work, grade is not given. Have handouts before class they help, if you can, look over them before class. Gives good feedback, if you come to him during office hours/schedule a time that works best for you. Textbook used occasionally; found textbook add'tl resources helpful
One of my favorite professors. He is very clear about what it takes to pass the class, the notes he provides usually contain similar problems to the homework which makes it super easy. His test are difficult, but he always has a review before the exam and will go over a lot of the test problems.
This is a very difficult class for most people. You absolutely have to attend and stay on top of things. But he is extremely knowledgeable and he knows what he is talking about, so listen. He won't give you a free pass, you're going to have to work for it.
Trust me on this, do not take any course with him. While Acheampong is funny and will make you laugh.. the lectures are just him plowing through the material. If you ask a question he responds very sarcastically and does not answer at all. He is a very nice man, but do not take him if you want to pass.
I only aced the class because I taught myself. Prof. Acheampong is a good dude but does not explain the material well and doesn't explain the relationship between concepts. I would recommend taking another professor even if that meant taking a class really early in the morning, really late at night, or on weekends. This is a hard class.

Class average was a 61 on the final, highest was an 88--need I say more? His teaching style is very ineffective and the homework/study guides are nothing like the exams, plus each homework assignment takes 2-4 hours. He seems nice as a person but steer clear of taking him as a professor, this is the only C I've received in my life and I tried hard.
Do not take this teacher. He does not care about his students passing the class. You can literally not understand what he is saying. He is a smart guy and knows what he is doing, but he should just not be a teacher. The review he does before the test is horrible and nothing like the test, and also once again you can't understand what he's saying.
Knows material but does not care if students are following along or if they learn. If you ask a question he will ridicule you in front of everyone for not understanding and keeping up with his fast pace of teaching. His Online lectures are awesome, just like he is in-class teaching, he answes email even at midnight, 3:20 am, but be prepared for his test.
Every bad review stated below is 100% true. I've given professors from difficult classes 5 star reviews, but this guy just plain doesn't get it. HORRIBLE communicator, very unorganized with his lecture notes and reviews, does not respond well to emails. If you need this class, TAKE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Professor Acheampong seems to get much worse reviews than I think he deserves. While his accent and teaching style can make it hard to follow along, if you show that you are committed to learning the material, he will work with you. That being said, if you are looking for an easy pass, this is not the class for you. There is a lot of work to do.
Prof Acheampong is a great professor, great guy and really cares about his students. I learned to appreciate his enthusiasm for accounting early in the morning. He does go fast and theres lots of work, but the class is tough he does his best to help by doing saturday review sessions and gives study guides. He gives you the tools to pass, just do it
Professor Acheampong is definitely intimidating, but once you get used to his sense of humor and style of teaching, his class isn't so bad. If you miss class, you're likely to struggle because he moves so fast through the lectures you'd be missing a lot. His homework is the hardest part about this class, but you get unlimited 'check my work'.
I was unable to understand about 85% of what Professor Acheampong was saying due to his strong accent. He goes fast and ridicules you publicly when asking questions. Does not foster a learning environment. I ended up having to go to other professors for videos and multiple tutors for help. Drop it while you can and take it with another professor!!
I somehow passed. He seems like he is a great person but is unable to teach a course. The work is extremely difficult and takes several hours to complete. He provided little to no help when students asked questions. He also cut off availability several days before the final exam. He also expects students to prioritize his work over other courses.
If you actually try in this class, it is so easy to get an A. Every assignment (except for in class exams) you have multiple attempts and are able to check your answers 10 times. If you are lazy and want an easy A, take him and buy Chegg. He makes it to where you can fail every exam, yet still pass the class.
If you want to feel like your mental state is being tested every day, feel free to take this course. His homework will take you hours to complete. His accent is atrocious, good luck understanding him. Rude as can be. No sympathy especially at a time which Covid-19 is a threat to our health. If I could give him 0 stars, trust me I would. Professor is very lazy and hastily repeats his notes as the lecture. His accent is very strong and he talks very fast. He does not slow down and repeat things if asked. As of 6/09/20, this human, is trying to incorporate a previous syllabus requirement, from a past semester (passing the final with a 60+). You might say 60 is not that bad. Okay smarty, take his class and see what I mean. We are two exams in when (after the drop deadline) when he wants to make this change. I honestly hate everything about him.
Professor Acheampong is a very kind person and cares about his students. If you reach out to him he will do the most he can to help you pass the class especially if you are an accounting major. I took the class in the summer so it went by very fast and there was a lot of work to do. If you study and ask for help you will pass the class.

Allows each exam to be taken twice. test and quiz heavy class. class structuring was odd, alternated between lecturing and making us work in groups and teach each other. wouldn't take accounting online again. hw was weekly and took 4-8 hours to do. I didnt like the way he taught.
Professor is very smart but has a thick accent that is difficult to understand. I took this class through COVID times so I understand that tech. issues cannot be put on the teacher but it made it very difficult to communicate or feel comfortable approaching for help. Thick accent, writes fast, and has bad handwriting. Makes a difficult class harder than it should be. Deliberately puts trick questions on hw and exams. chegg/hwlib is your best friend in this class. TB explains the material better than prof. hw is difficult and takes forever. PracticeQuizes are useful and similar to exam. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Moderate amount of work in the class but teacher doesnt teach in the lecture times. He goes over questions for each chapter without really explaining or teaching the concepts in the class. Also refused to work with students and extenuating circumstances, worst professor Ive ever had.

Professor Acheampong was not a good professor. This class is extremely hard, and he only makes it harder. He has attendance verification that require you to answer a pop quiz question in less than a minute after it shows up, so good luck going to the bathroom during the class. Homework is extremely long, and while he is very smart he cannot teach.
During the lectures if you asked him a question he would insult you in front of everyone and yell at you for not listening. Meanwhile he would pull numbers out of nowhere. So, if you do not understand something you are basically screwed. He does not care about his students, I failed every exam but still passed. So great job FGCU, I feel very educat
Acheampong is by far the worst professor I have ever taken in my college career. Not being able to understand what he says is the least of your worries. He is very unorganized, and all over the place. Absolutely terrible at teaching so you'll be needing to do that on your own. His work, whenever it is actually in the camera view is wrong many times
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Hard to understand, doesn't cover what is on quizzes and tests and hides most of your homework and quiz grades so you can't tell what you're even doing wrong. Took a different professor and got a B+. Avoid this fella
Being the first time taking a Cost Accounting course, this course was difficult. Now after taking others, Professor A, really drives home the points and provides a lot of information in a short amount of time. You have to watch his videos, (was online) and pay attention to homework to pass. He talks fast with an accent, but he is nice.
His camera is showing half of the exercise he's working on, which makes it really hard to follow. Also, he talks fast and has an accent. It's impossible to follow sometimes. He plays with you saying he won't give second attempts and then he does. The good thing is that if you go to his office hours, he's understanding and he will help you out.
This man will single-handedly inspire you to hate accounting.

He is a tough grader and doesn't care if you do bad he will take resources away from you if all the students don't use them. the class is passable as long as you use the practice quizzes on connect they are the only way i actually learned anything. Read his syllabus very very carefully. HW doesn't reflect the exam at all
Daniel A. is very skilled and intelligent, though I found that he tends to drift off-topic a lot during lectures. Syllabus was weirdly long and overly strict in my opinion. The tests are too short, usually making it so I had to rush most tests and exams. You *have* to study for this class, and there is a lot of content to get through.

BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. He tries to make his students fail at every chance he gets. On top of that his work takes 3x longer than it should compared to other classes. He also has a very THICK accent so it is insanely hard to understand him. If you have any ounce of care for your mental health, please dont take this, PLEASE.

This class has been an absolute nightmare. His expectations are not clear. He is condescending. He refuses to answer questions or makes you feel dumb for asking. He will flat out refuse to clarify an aspect of an assignment, then take points off for you not doing it the way he wants. His ego is huge. Barely discusses content during class.
I created this account simply to warn others to not take this professor. As a Master's level student I assumed that some level of respect would be give. This professor is the most critical and unhelpful I have ever had. He refuses to clarify topics that he says are in the instructions but are clearly missing. At all cost avoid this professor.
This professor has made the last two semesters of my Master's degree a nightmare. Audit II was ridiculously heavy on work and a research project that did not have clear instructions. He is egotistical and condescending. He shows has no respect for his students. He wants to fail you. I have complained to FGCU about him & the refuse to do anything.
Professor Acheampong's class is challenging, but using resources like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook and practice problems can really help you succeed. Stay engaged in class and visit office hours if you need extra support.
I almost never feel the need to rate my professors, but this guy is a just mean and not understanding. He's the head of the accounting department at FGCU and the curriculum is ridiculous. Seriously take this class with someone else. In our lectures, he wouldn't answer our questions, claiming he had already gone over it. Waste of time and money!

He is extremely difficult to understand due to his accent, he makes the material extremely hard to comprehend, and his assignments are sometimes all out of order.

He teaches using CHATGPT. Told class to use CHAT for the paper we were writing, graded our paper with CHAT, and if we needed help, he said "Go ask CHAT." Lectures only involved us talking about assignments due next week. Offered little to no guidance. His assignments were CHAT written as well. If you don't have CHAT Premium, then you are screwed.
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! His bosses need to reevaluate his teaching style and his teaching license. If you do not have a religion, pick one and start praying. You will not even be able to understand him if you wanted to.
