this teacher is the best. i highly recommend him. he is very smart in what he does and has alot of great stories to tell. a MUST take if you need this class.

His lectures are funny and extremely useful. He makes it a point of giving all perspectives of a conflict without forcing his own on you. And instead, he teaches how to perceive our own opinions with the understandings of others. Hope to see him run as an elected official one day, for I would surely vote him.

I loved professor Barnett's class! very interesting and entertaining, something difficult to do when you have a 3 and half hour class of just teaching Criminal Law. He was very good about clarifying anything students didn't understand. He is very nice and I really enjoyed listening to his storiesexperiences. Very fair in his grading. Just read!

Best professor I have ever had and I'm on my third degree so I've been around the block. Show up to class. He is a fair grader and wants everybody to do well. If you read and show up you will do well. Plus why skip class? He makes the material interesting and he is so funny. I wish he taught more classes. Bittersweet when this class ended for me.

Absolutely the best professor I have ever had at MC. He is knowledgable, honorable, and funny. Turning what would have been a very boring law class into a class that gets you thinking. Leaving his class I feel much more knowledgeable, motivated, and inspired. He gives 2 tests and makes sure you are well prepared. No HW or papers.

This was my favorite class this semester. It was heavy reading, but as long as you read and come to class with some knowledge of the chapter he helps you understand it better with his awesome lectures. His stories as a prosecutor helps me understand the chapters better. I am horrible at testing, but he always made sure that I was well prepared.

Love him!! From the very first day of class he sets his grading criteria clear as well as his expectations. He makes you feel comfortable to ask any question you may have regarding his lectures. Stay up on your reading and there shouldn't be a problem.

I honestly thought it was going to be difficult and it was challenging but with his examples and elaboration on each chapter, I was able to pass this class as an A student. One of THE most greatest professors I've ever had. He is a prosecutor so he is extremely knowledgeable about the course. Professor with an immense amount of real world experience, you will need to read your text book but in reality he really breaks all the legalese of the class into a Barney style lesson so you can understand. He cares deeply for his students and wants everyone to succeed and goes above and beyond other professors to ensure that you understand.

I had taken this course once before with a different professor and let me just tell you that taking it with Prof Barnett was a completely different experience. Reading is a must but if you read this class with be an easy A. He knows when everyone is starting to get bored and he starts telling stories which is cool!

I am surprised I ended up loving the class as much as I did. This man genuinely has a passion for teaching and is also very qualified to teach CCJS. He was a prosecutor before coming to teach, which is why he has given us many examples of our CJS in action. He's a fair grader and even if you had no interest in the subject, his lectures made it fun.

Don't judge him if he wears a suit the first day , he is not a typical professor that's a hardass and will just lecture and assign work. He gets real with you, brings you in and to say the least he's the professor we wish we could have for every class. there's no failure with him, if you fail its only cause you didn't show up at all.

He was a prosecutor so hes very credible. He will make you like the class so take it if its for your major or general ED credits. Reading and taking notes is really important!

All of his lectures always had a really fun story that would make my day. He is one of the most relaxed professors at the college, even letting us take our midterms and finals home with us to work on. He is definitely one of the easiest and most entertaining professors, but don't think that means you can get away with not doing the work.

Lectures were never boring as he had a new story to tell every class, and they always related to what was being currently taught. Be prepared to read and show up, if you read and show up the class is easy. You take a mid-term and a final and turn in one paper that he essentially gives you the entire semester to do. Overall amazing professor.

Great choice for CCJS110! He grades very easy and helped us out big time on the midterms and finals. You have to do one written paper but it's very simple. He doesn't grade hard and will bump you up as long as you tried. Easy A Class.

He loves answering questions from his students. He tells a lot of funny stories, takes care of his cat when he wants to come inside and join class. (This was a Zoom class to be more specific).

Professor Barnett is an incredible law professor. He does his best to keep the class engaged because he genuinely cares about NOT BORING YOU. But you have to show some effort too of course! With enough reading, and with enough effort, this class won't be a problem for ANYONE! Reading wasn't bad at all.

He cares about his students deeply, tries to make his lectures interesting and entertaining, and he tells his students funny stories involving his career. Just read the assigned chapters and participate in class. I would take him a fourth time!

Prof. Barnett is amazing at what he does. He is entertaining but also makes sure that we understand the material by giving engaging lectures. He has many stories; I wish I could have heard more, but since it was a 1-month summer class he had to cut it short. Professor Barnett engages the class with his hilarious stories and life experiences. It is lecture heavy, sometimes hard to concentrate but he does love to teach.

The BEST professors I have ever had! He truly cares about each student and wants everyone to succeed. Almost every lecture had at least one hilarious experience he would tell the class. You can tell he loves to teach and we we're graded by 2 exams. If you listen, read the textbook, and participate (graded by participation as well) you will get an A

Professor Barnett is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are always super fun and interesting. He tells stories from his time as a prosecutor while still staying on topic and keeping you engaged in the class. He's also very easy to talk to and explains things well. He is a professor who will stick with you over time.

Professor Barnett was one the best professors I have ever taken. He is really easy to talk to. HIs time as a prosecutor made it easier to understand the material taught. He makes learning fun and if you engage in class discussion you will be fine.

Professor Barnett makes learning Interesting by sharing stories, and warming to be in his class. He's overall just a stand up guy and good person. He is easy to reach outside of class. if you participate in class you will be fine.

Professor Barnett is an excellent professor in every sense of the word. He cares about his students and is very accessible outside of school hours for any type of assistance you may need. Not to mention what an excellent in-class teacher he is. His “lectures” are littered with real life experiences that are both funny and help digest the material.

This class was very enjoyable. Honestly the best class I have taken all throughout my school years. I don't think I have had this good of instruction from a teacher in a while (maybe I have but just not as good or fun). He really takes the time to make sure everyone understands all of the material given. You will not regret taking his class at all.

Professor Barnett is literally the best professor i've ever had!! He does a really good job of explaining concepts & making himself available to students. Also, he's so funny. I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in taking CCJS 110!

He is a great and understanding professor. He says it's not supposed to be easy and there is a lot of reading but as long as you try he will help you out.

Prolly the best proffessor ive ever had, hes super funny and makes lectures easily digestible by incorporating stories and captivating examples. Super easy going and you can tell that teach cares for each and every student. You will not regret this class just show up and put in effort.

One of my favorite professors ever at MC! Prof. Barnett does an amazing job covering the material and explains it all thoroughly. He really cares about his students and makes sure to make his lectures engaging, as he's a hilarious storyteller and has a lot of funny + fascinating stories about his career in criminal justice. 10/10 would recommend!

Three-hour 6 p.m. class flies by. Instructor teaches law with vivid anecdotes and a clear, structured roadmap, so concepts stick. Practical focus helped me understand how the system works. Con: lots of detail, so expect steady reading and note taking. Exams are fair but require attention to case examples. Funny, humble, and respectful. Worth it!!!!

Clear, structured lectures with vivid legal stories and practical examples. It corrected misconceptions on rights, procedure, and evidence. On day one, he shared a recorded final exam review from the prior semester, so you know the exact format and topics. Exams and quizzes are at home, you email him your answers. My absolute favorite teacher ever!

Need to read the text book in order to participate. Participation matters. He is a former Deputy Attorney General of Maryland, 30 years of prosecution experience, really knows his stuff and truly cares about justice system. Must take this class for awareness as a citizen of MD. Best teacher. He wrote an amazing college recommendation letter!
