Awesome class! He's very intelligent and has a passion for the subject matter that shows in the way he teaches the material. VERY easy grader as well, just show up and take notes and you will do fine.

Knows what he is talking about, lectures but looks for input. Will always add some funny little tidbit in that you know will not be on the test but makes class interesting. If you can take any class with him do it! He is an excellent professor. Note: No homework! Only tests!

What can I say about Dr.Blum that hasn't already been said? He is the man, that has been said; he conducts class in a very interesting way, that has been said as well. If you even romotely care about history, which, according to Dr.B himself, you should, then you will love his class. Everything on the tests he covers in class. The Best.

Blum is the best, barnone. His intelligence exceeds that of most scholars, he is rather funny, even handed with material, and even cracks fun of the textbook for being wrong at times. Read the text, take the notes, get an A. Best of all, enjoy, because Blum is simply the best. Oh yea, if you really want to get him going, ask a GOOD question.

I would say that the only reason people may think he's boring is because sometimes he's so smart, the things he says just go clear over our heads. For the most part, I was enthralled in his lectures. He was an amazing professor, one of the best I've had at this school.

Really good teacher. A lot of people fall asleep in the class but I like his stories and his tests are even easier- Not joking, he gives multiple choice tests with questions like... The Egyptians wrote in a) cuneiform b) english c) heiroglyphics. I mean if you cant get that right, you shouldnt be in college.

I found the class very interesting. Yes it is solely lecture but the side stories that he adds that you won't find in history books makes the class humorus and more interesting. He knows his history and is very good at keeping his personal opinion to himself and stateing the facts.

I really enjoyed his class, never skipped a single one. Very interesting, tries to bring some fun into history, which I enjoyed. Very strict about attendance, and graded solely on attendance and test grades. I want to take another class with him in the future!

Blum is the best teacher I have had yet at Buff State. His knowledge and passion for history is unmatched and he makes you care about the material. He gives a lot of notes, and they are awesome, write down everything he says. This class is fairly hard though, 3 long essay exams that you may struggle to finish. Go TO CLASS!

I think Blum has to be the BEST at Buff State. I took 115 with him last semester, and I am registered for 117 with him for next semester. His material is great. He brings a lot of fun into the class with his stories. You can tell that he loves what he does. I really, truly suggest this guy.

Professor Blum rocks! If you are a History/Social Studies Education major, you will LOVE every minute of his class. The man knows how to make history come alive. If you AREN'T a History major and only need to take a history elective, TAKE THIS GUY; he'll make it interesting for you. All you have to do is show up and take notes, and you'll do well.

I've now taken 115 and 117 with Blum, He's awesome. By far the best lecturer I've encountered at Buff State. If your not interested in it when you go in you will be when the semesters over. Take really good notes and avoid buying the books (haven't bought a book for his classes yet)

Great professor. He is always willing to work with his students if someone has a problem with the material. He definitely doesn't rely on the textbook as much as other professors, but I would recomend buying it anyway. It will mean the difference between a B or an A

I agree that he is good teacher. But I do have 1 problem; the class was about "Hitler's Teachers" and he made it seem that Nazism follows from Evolution. It was obvious he zero knowledge on biology. It also became increasingly obvious that he was a theologian as class continued. He should keep his personal religious beliefs out of the classroom.

great professor. dont buy the book. hes great. his notes arent that great so you better be good at taking notes. tests are easy although you do have to write an essay...he tells you what the essay question is and does a thorough review the day before the test. if i liked history i would definitely take more classes with him. i actually learned!!!

Blum took a class that I had previously assumed would be useless and made it not only my favorite, but probably the most useful class I've taken in college. Attendance is mandatory, but you won't want to miss class. Print out the readings, look up words you don't know, show up, and be prepared! You'll want to contribute.

although i didn't do as good as i expected in the class, i think that he is a great and enthusiastic professor. study the lecture notes very well.

Finally, an instructor who doesn't play the 'please like me' game. He's bold enough to have standards..hate how students complain when something is required of them. Love to see 'rate-your-student' go public.We're producing an apathetic next generation. Thanks prof for standing in integrity

Prof. Blum has fantastic stories that brighten up the lesson. Yeah, there will always be times in history where it's not as interesting but you still have to study to do well. Most of it, though, he's really entertaining... Except that he looks at the ceiling whilst speaking almost the entire time, so he misses it when you raise your hand.

Blum is a riot. Took him for a summer class. He is so enthusiastic about his topic and is very funny. Does talk to the ceiling but I would definitely reccommend him. Very nice guy, will help you whenever you need it.

Great teacher he makes references that related to youth and just makes things interesting. the test are essay format but if you feel your not doing that well, he is a great help and remember that you went to him for help when grading the next test! I would recomond highly

I took his class during summer. He kept it interesting (expecially cause I hate history) easy to remember his stories. He does talk really fast to write down every little thing, but he does do bullet point notes. You will have to do essays for each exam (3) and you need to be detailed with each one to recieve most of the points. good, but hard.

He's the best teacher! He MAKES things easy for you to remember by giving cool, sometimes naughty, supplementary information. Take good notes and come to class and you'll get an A. The tests are 20 mulitple choice, 1 short essay, and 1 long essay, a day of review before each. So long as you've got your chronology and IMPORTANT dates right it's ok.

I'll be honest, I took this class 3 semesters in a row until I passed with a "C". If you have a busy work schedule, this class will kick your ass! However; it's been the most mind blossoming class I've taken. Attendance is mandatory, so it the book.

i had 0 interest in euro history at the start of the semester but Blums enthusiasm and fantastic stories made it worth going to class. take good notes and don't skimp on the essays

The class was very interesting, BUT be very wary when taking this class. It was during Bengal Pause and attendance was MANDATORY. I missed 3 classes for events for my major and career, He lowered my grade just due to attendance. I did well on tests. Be in class, or have an excuse that he is willing to accept. Never used the textbook, just listen

This teacher is beyond amazing! by far the most interesting class to have! I look forwards to going to this class on tues and thrus. He teaches to you think in ways that you would never even think of. I would 100% reccomend to take this class

This is the greatest teacher you will ever have. First of all, he is hilarious, and his lectures make you feel like your actually in the context of what he is talking about because he is so enthusiastic in all of his classes; if you have the choice choose him!

Great teacher! Keeps the class engaged and awake. He calls on you if your not paying attention but it keeps you from dozing and day dreaming. He has a lot of energy and if you do the homework and papers you can get a B if not better. The papers are long but easy because it's your choice if you want to do bullet form.

blum is awesome. if you don't have him, bsc is probably a terrible class to take. he makes it fun and hysterical. no matter how tired you are you will want to come to his class. you read a few chapters out of the book in the beginning and there are only a three papers, two tests, and few pop quizzes. do your reading. blum is highly recommended.

Mr. Blum Is probably the best professor I've had. His teaching style is unique and a lot of times it doesn't even feel like class. A student like me is probably this teachers worst nightmare (or greatest challenge). Hes my adviser as well. He really cares about his students more than any professor Ive seen. Hes good at arguing which makes class fun. Theres not much homework, but if you dont do it, you're done for (like me). The class itself I disliked, it didnt really help me.

LOVE THIS TEACHER. I'm the typical student , I hate lectures. But with Blum , his voice is very loud so you have to pay attention. He goes through the material at our own pace. And he prepares you for every exam . I hate essays , but his exams are mostly all essays. I ended up with an 88 on the first exam . You definitely will be entertained!

He is very funny and interesting to listen to. However I do not care for his style of exams. There are 10 or so multiple choice questions and then the rest are essay questions. If you want an A you have to pump out like a 6 page essay from your memory in the course of an hour it is kind of crazy. It would be easy to get a low grade in his class

Prof Blum is a great teacher. He truly wants his students to be interested in his class, and he offers help whenever he can. The tests are essay form. He talks about each topic while the students listen and you must take notes quickly because he talks fast, but he won't hesitate to go over info again in case you didn't hear it or understand it.

Blum is hands down the best professor at Buffalo State. I absolutely LOATHE history and cannot understand it. He made it into a story from day one and took our class on a journey. After this class, I know more about history and how it ties into today's culture more than some information from my major classes!

I have always been terrible at history and never understood it. His lectures are straight forward and he makes the class fun. He gave 3 exams that all had 1o multiple choice and 2 essays. He spent the class before an exam to review the material and gives you the EXACT essay questions and answers to all the multiple choice. Amazing professor!!!

I learned more about History in one class with Blum than I did all through out high school. No joke, this man is amazing. He somehow is able to teach history in a way that makes sense and I'm not sure how he does it but if you have a history class you need to take and his class had open seats, take it. Probably the only teacher, in fact, person that can fit over 20 centuries of history into weeks and in such a matter of which majority of the class (if not always everyone) gets a passing grade over 85!!! Amazing dude

Just an amazing story teller that makes you interested in what hes teaching. Test are mostly essay based but its a good thing get full credit for just knowing the basics of the topic. Fantastic teacher who truly wishes the best for his students. He's really blunt and is not afraid to poke fun at anyone, so if your sensitive his style might not be for you. However, don't mistake him for rude, very perceptive and enjoys solving peoples college woes. Would and hopefully will take again.

Chapter quizzes and midterm/final super easy. All-in-all super easy and fun class. Recommend to all freshman to get yourself together for college.

I was in a small class with other first year history majors. Lectures/class is mandatory!!! Attendance is taken and if you miss class you miss so much content. Dr. Blum was the best History Teacher I've had. He focuses on the why behind history more than the what and that was really interesting to learn. Also hilarious. Be warned, Tests are pretty hard and he forces you to buy specific test-taking packets for writing test answers or he won't even look at your answers, real weird sour spot :/

Blum was probably my favorite professor all year. Hands down the best professor I've had! His tests are all essays and a lot of memorization. However, he makes the information interesting and fun to learn. Attendance is mandatory but this is a class you want to go to!

Dr. Blum is hands-down the best educator I've ever seen. He is extremely engaging, tries to know you on a personal level, and simplifies material so you remember exactly what you need to. He is unbelievably funny, and tells amazing stories. I have had him for UNC 100, HIS 116, and HIS 117, and would take every single one of his courses if I could.

Blum places a high importance on the engagement of his students. His attendance policies are strict. He readily welcomes and encourages open disagreement and debate. His humorously excited method of teaching is far more engaging and helps me to learn the material far better than any other teacher I have had.

Dr. Blum makes history engaging with his humor and personal approach. Lectures are informative, but tests can be challenging. Definitely attend class and use unstuck study for study prep.
