Knows his stuff very well. He can answer almost any question and i always open to debate. Its just that some of the students are a little too opinionated that made the class annoying.

He made Philosphy interesting and not boring. He knows his stuff inside and out and he is very helpful.He has a cool curve like 85% is an A. Take him if want to learn Philosphy 'coz there's no other Philosphy teachers that are as cool!

The best philosphy teacher at De Anza. He tries to relate the material to you in a way you'll understand. Tests can be challenging, so take and study your notes. One more thing, very good looking guy.

Intelligent and helpful teacher, encourages critical thinking, i.e. expressing opinions that differ from his own, which makes the class so much more interesting. Some tests more difficult than others, but fair grading. Highly recommended class!

Pretty koo guy, Test can be kind of hard but he will help you at the end if the class average is low. Plus he has a pretty kool curve, study ur notes and ull get an A.

phenomenology is great! we learned about horizons, the parts/structure of experience that make it possible to have meaning for someone. very cool guy too.

He's the most effective teacher ever. The way he teaches is at a pace where he puts himself at the level of the student, not the teacher. If you are willing to pay attention, the material will sink in via osmosis just like that.

Amazing teacher makes philosophy interesting, hard tests and hard papers.

This teacher is pretty fun. he knows his philosophy. His tests are kind of hard, but if you study you'll do fine. He is helpful if you ask and he is very clear in his examples. He can be good eye candy also..He'll motivate you to study with his looks..

He is such a great professor. i took him for summer school. there were only 1 midterm and one final. he even gave us the questions to the test.

Great prof. Has that girly vibe but he's very clear on his lectures. I took it in the summer and there's only a midterm and the final, and he basically gives you the test questions for prep. Random burst of laughters takes time to get used to. Recommended

I took him for summer school and the lectures are very easy to follow (he writes everything on the board) and he gives you the midterm and final questions before the tests. Sometimes when he says certain words he sounds like George W. Bush. Cool guy!

Extremely easy class. Just pay attention in class and copy the stuff he writes on the board. It'll pay off for midterms and finals. Review sheet has 23 questions, he picks 6, you pick 4 of the 6 for midterm. No need for book, he goes over the reading in class and hits the main points.

Great teacher, made me want to major in psychology, made the class super easy and interesting. You can tell he's really into the subject. It's mostly all lecturing n' copying the notes on the board. Some might be bored if not interested in the subject all, but for those who like it..great class.

Democrats and Liberals need not apply to this class - it's all about logic and cogent reasoning & thinking. Daniel is a fascinating teacher, oozing Republican which is a breath of fresh air on a liberal-biased campus. Very refreshing course. I highly recommend! Sense of humor applies as well!

I pretty much registered here to comment on this professor. Had him for summer quarter 2004. Never before has a professor brought so much passion to a subject, irregardless of how much or little the students are feeling like participating. Day after day of full on good teaching.

Good teacher. Not so bad to look at. You have to take a lot of notes but they help you w/ the exams. Not too much work at all but all you need to do is keep up with reading and you shouldn't have any trouble passing the class.

I disagree with one of the posters; he said very liberal things in our class and I am positive he is not a republican! (i.e., he hates rush limbaugh) Easy class, if you are from a 4yr looking to take some GE courses, this is a much easier alternative. Also, I agree on the super hot thing, but sweats like a madman too (had him for summer school)

Bunce is a cool guy and a great teacher. Don't expect nothing less. I think I was one of the first to take his psyc 6 class because there were only a handfull that actualyl registered. BUT take it! It'll seriously change how you live your life and it's an easy A. You learn what he does for a living. He's so passionate that you can't hate him.

This class is not so easy for me as an ESL student. but Mr. Bunce explained everything clear and understandable. The exams are pretty straight from the study guide that he gave u. I highly recommand u to take Mr. Bunce's class. And u will know how hot he is after u take it. ^^

I never thought humanistic psychology was ever going to be taught at community college level.Finding it was a ridiculously long,hard process.Having done so was worth it with a teacher very passionate about it at the helm.Very clear lectures and generous grading system add an extra flavor.It was outstanding!

Mr. Bunce is really a great teacher~ he builds up my interest towards psychology. His exams are not that hard, all his questions are from what he talked about in class. i didnt even take a look at the book, but just listen to his lecture n takes notes n end up an A. Besides, his lecture is interesting n sure u will learn a lot from him~

awesome teacher. philosophy is a hard subject but he makes it easier to understand. just take down all his notes and review when test tim comes around. very generous with grading! just do your work and you will get atleast a B. i got an A bcuz i actually tried but had no prior classes related with philosophy

He is a great teacher. He explains all the difficult philosphical idea to understandable material. 2 essay exams with review sheet provided, are not hard if you study the notes carefully. Essay paper is so much fun and he offers help.

this teacher is HOTT! and to top it off he knows his stuff, you learn alot, and if you do the work you get a good grade, probably one of the best courses i've taken at Deaza

very knowledgable about his stuff. u can tell he's really into what he teaches. lectures/notes/essay quizzes...actually its not at all that bad. just as long as u show that u tried. u'll find him interesting.......n' hot.

He's an awesome guy who explains everything the way it should be explained. I liked his method of teaching very much because the topics were very interesting. Just study for the exams and you should be more than ok! Trust me, you have to be a total and complete moron if you don't study! I would recommend this class to everyone!

He's a great teacher because he doesn't shove his lectures down your throat. His class is kick back and he talks to you like it is not a boring lecture and if you don't listen it's your bad. Also most people like him cuz he's EASY. You still have to study and try but as long as you read and study a you'll do fine. Also he gives Lots of E.C!!

He's so cute and funny.....Humanistic is a great class for those who in Psych major or even just to see a deep way of thinking about human behavior....2 tests and 1 project, not hard at all....very helpDan is too funny and cute! Tests are super tricky, not the same basic as he teches in class. I studied so hard for the tests... but I got a bad grade. Don't take his class if you are an internatinal students especially.

Prof. Bunce is incredibly nice -almost TOO nice. He definitely knows what he's talking about & he makes sure everybody in the class understands what's going on. The class was enjoyable. I apply the fallacies that I've learned in this class in real life all the time.

Really interesting teacher, he kind of left some topics unfinished at the end so he let us have a open note final but he gives you the midterm/final answers a week before and then you answer like 5 in class. i really enjoyed his class, he knows what he's talking about and hes passionate about it and his ideas are really thought provoking. take him!

Bunce is an AWESOME teacher.... you can ttly tell he loves to teach ppl... very intereseting class... he's a easy grader but you have to work to get an A... loved all his lectures... like he said all you really need is margaritas and you'll get it all...fun class...take it!

I LOVED Prof. Bunce! he's a great professor and is very nice to his students. Psychology itself is a very tough/complex subject and many of the theories are hard to grasp so You can't really blame him for making the questions hard. He made the info clear! cool guy!

Best teacher I've had at De Anza by far. Unbelievably helpful and very clear in his teachings. He adds about 1 question per test thats a little tricky, but if you pay attention to what he has to say you should have no problem passing his class.

Bunce was awesome. He is very clear, his exams require writing, but its so easy. Gives extra credit. I recommend him, phil is not my field and i didnt think i would do good, but to my surprise i did very well in the class. Its also very fun and eye opening. Take him you wont regret it ;) He is easy!

Wonderful teacher! I loved his class so much! He was so interesting and engaging. I took it as a night class and I never ditched or fell asleep which is a good sign... He likes it if you get involved and answer his questions because most people don't say much. I got an A with little effort, just show up and take good notes and you will be fine.

Some here say that this class is easy. Not true. The class is fun, however, it is hard. You need to study your fallacies, and know them cold. Some fallacies over lap and you need to be able to distinguish between them. Take good notes First class in a long time where the book was used. He gives ex cr but it is time consuming. Great class over all

I dislike Critical thinking, but it was GE requirements so I took it with Mr.Bunce. He is a very nice and helpful professor. He is a sharp man!! I enjoyed his class and the time he took to educate us, he really care about his class. Lots of notes in class, it be helpful to bring laptop. remember do the extra credit hw. it can bump up ur grades!

Dr. Bunce is an awesome teacher! I took his class last summer and we covered a lot of material in a very short time, but he kept the interest level high, and was great at explaining things-even to those of us who usually "get it" but struggled with the material (and argued with him about it!) A very cool guy and I learned a lot!

he is a really great teacher i had him for a 2 hour class and i enjoyed going to his class your are not required to go to his class but if you do you will miss out there is HW in this class but you are not required to do it.I never did the hw because he corrects it in class you only get graded on the tests and he does offer extra credit.

Dan Bunce is an AMAZING teacher. Extremely articulate and very good at giving the information in a clear, concise, understandable way. I've taken both Phil 1 and Phil 4 with him, and I loved him for both. I highly recommend him.

He is a really good teacher, his lectures are interesting. 2 hour class is usually boring, but his class is mostly lecture but it's all FUN! I think the concept of the class is also very interesting and with a teacher like him, this class is probably the best class in De Anza. You cannot do bad in this class!

He has this great charm about him, and good humor. He can look intimidating sometimes but he's very nice and his lectures are VERY thorough. He will clarify anything you don't understand. He assigns exercises from the book that you don't turn in but go over in class. Exams are straight forward, attendance isn't mandatory, but his lectures HELP.

I've taken 3 classes with him and he is my absolute favorite teacher that I've ever had. He teaches in an inspiring, knowledgeable, and concise fashion, and communicates with the least amount of bias that I've seen. You can tell he enjoys teaching about philosophy and psych. I HIGHLY recommend him.

Great teacher. It is a difficult subject for many to understand so he is a great teacher to learn it from. He is very approachable and likes to keep the class light. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you dont go to class you won't understand the material for the tests and the tests are your whole grade.

I took him for Critical Thinking, and he really knows what he's doing. He does a good job of clarifying confusing parts in the textbook, although the majority of the material I didn't find too difficult. He can be a bit inflexible when it comes to questions with possibly more than one answer, but it's usually fine. Loads of extra credit at the end.

BRILLIANT man. Genuinely cares about subject and his students. If you don't understand, approach him after class; he will make the time for you, and he is always welcoming. For Humanistic Psych, show up to each class meeting and take notes on everything he talks about, it will help you get that A. He's also incredibly handsome.

Bunce is a GREAT teacher. IMO all Phil teachers are the most laid back/cool and smartest teachers on campus, but as good as Bunce is, this class will challenge you if you don't keep up with the reading. He'll pick on a row of students sometimes and have them answer questions so make you read or have an understanding. Last paper helped me get a B

Took him over the summer. Dr. Bunce is undeniably clear with his teaching and one of the best professors I've had. He goes over the same material to plant it in your brain, but not so in which you will be bored (re-iterating some things were necessary for context and clarity.)Pretty easy grading as long as you know the material. AMAZING.

Professor Bunce is the most amazing teacher on campus! I definitely recommend taking him. He is extremely helpful and it's obvious that he cares about his students by the way he takes his time making sure his lectures are clear. Time really flies by when you're sitting in his class. HW is never collected, but do it. It will help you on the exams!

What a great teacher and person, his lectures were inspirational, showing us the light. Tells you what to look out for when people are trying to hoodwink you into something. I found it hard to grasp some of the ideas but if you work hard he will reward you. He is there for you too, thank you professor

A wonderful professor! He simplifies everything so it's really easy to follow his lectures and it's quite interesting. I got all B's and 1 C on my quizzes but extra credit (a lot of pts) bumped me to an A. He cares a lot about his students and is very friendly and easily approachable. Ask him questions after class if you're lost! Super helpful

Don't skip class. Go. His lecture are not really lectures, but insights into how to experience and see the world from a different perspective. Bunce breaks down idealized barriers of how things are and should be, and lets us see an entire aspect of reality that you may never have considered before. Hard-to-tackle philosophical subjects made easy.

You learn a lot, and Dr. Bunce is the teacher for this class. Tests are clear, he grades generously and is very approachable. 3 tests and 1 final. Tests less than 15 questions, final is about 20-25. EASY A if you show up to class and somewhat do the reading. He has an extra credit opportunity at the end which is great too. TAKE HIM!

I really enjoyed this class. The material is interesting and simple, and Bunce is a clear teacher. The homework wasn't collected,so there was a low stress-load. The exams are tough in the sense that they make you think(god forbid) and he is very critical when grading,but have no fear he gives a whopping 70+ points of EC, enough to make up for tests

Humanistic Psychology with Professor Bunce was by far the best course I have taken in my entire life. He teaches so much more than just psychology. He provides you with "lightning bolts of insight" that can change the whole trajectory of your life. I truly believe that this course should be a prerequisite for all human-beings. Highly recommended!

Prof Bunce is very knowledgeable and passionate about his subject and his lectures are captivating. If you show up to class and keep up with the readings it will be an easy A since he makes the subject interesting and relatable. No HW, just an easy midterm and take-home final, but don't slack: reading and participation is reflected in the grade.

Dr. Bunce is awesome and he is very wise. Super knowledgeable about philosophy and he explains fallacies so that they are easy to understand. Exams are pretty easy if you study. Its best if you come to class instead of trying to read the book on your own because he explains fallacies way better than the book.

During the first 2 weeks taking this class, I thought it was extremely boring. I kept doubting if I was going to like this class. But after the first 2 weeks, he got really deep into Humanistic Psych and my mind was blown. This class WILL change your entire outlook on your life and will even teach you a lot about yourself. Easy class&exams if you understand everything he teaches. 70 extra credit if you do 35 fallacies. the most logical person I have ever met. great lectures. learnt a lot.

if you are still taking ESL, you probably will have a hard time in the class because a lot of the words are tough for ESL students. but the 70 extra credit will help u to go up a letter grade or even 2.

weekly discussions which sometimes you can answer off the top of your head but other times require the textbook/research. tests are quite difficult but extra credit essay is available and the final essay can boost your grade. kind and a lenient grader. I would take his class again.

1 discussion post/reply each week. 3 exams which review chapters from the textbook. Btw, you can find the first couple of chapters of the textbook thru Google Books/Amazon. 5 pg essay on a psychologist APA format. 1.5-2 pg Extra credit essay due last week of the quarter. Honestly, pretty chill class. He seems really nice too. Just a vibe :)

One of the sweetest and kindest professors I've had here. There's usually only one discussion a week and you get a point off for each part you submitted late. He always gives really thoughtful comments on your replies and overall cares about his students. He seems to be passionate about his field which makes me wish I took his class in person.

The professor is super kind and gives thoughtful feedback. Weekly discussions are manageable, and the textbook is helpful. Unstuck study was great for test prep.

My favorite psychology professor at De Anza. I regret not taking his second class on abnormal psy. His lectures are not just a summary of the textbook, but something much more. Especially if you're interested in philosophy in the context of psychology, the professor has an excellent grasp of phil. Take every class he offers if you can—he's the best

Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said, but genuinely one of my favorite teachers at De Anza. Passionate about his teaching, is communicative, and gives great feedback. Easy assignments as long as you do the reading, and overall inspired me to get back into psychology. Couldn't recommend his classes more if I tried!

I took Professor Bunce's Personality Theory class. Prof Bunce is great, he gave thoughtful and sincere feedback on every discussion response and helps foster an inclusive and supportive community among students. This course has deepened the understanding of myself and people around me.
