Good teacher. Easy B. If you want an A then go to every class, take notes, and write down any little fun history fact because he does a couple of bonus questions on the tests.
The best and funniest prof I've ever had. His class is really easy and you'll easily get a "B" and up on tests if you just study a quizlet without even paying attention in class.
3 tests all multiple choice. Final exam is not cumulative. Dont even have to take notes. He gives all the info you need in the powerpoints
Super funny dude with dry humor. If you study the quizlets people make and take notes during the lectures, it's an easy A. There's only 3 exams and the answers come directly from the slides he posts. I would love to take one of his classes again!
Mr. Campbell was honestly the best teacher I've had in college so far. He's very entertaining in all of his lectures, is super helpful in office hours, and was really real with his students. If you pay attention in class, do the readings, and look at the study guide, you'll pass with flying colors.
People always say history teachers are the father figures of the world. Well, when I say that DMC is more like the cool cousin you cannot wait to see every holiday , I mean it. Attendance is mandatory but the lectures are not boring at all. Great guy to take!
I had to work and study pretty hard to do well on the tests. Graded off 3 tests worth 25% each and attendance is worth 25%. Lectures are boring and confusing because he jumps around and gets distracted easy but always sends study guides for the tests. If you study those, the powerpoints hard, and come to class an A is easy. EC on all the tests too.
Favorite teacher of my first semester. Dudes a homie and he makes the class straightforward as it could get. 3 tests 25% and attendece 25%. extra credit, multiple choice, no papers or projects.
His lectures are pretty boring but I dont think a single person actually listened. Everyone watched netflix/shopped/did other work. Attendance is 25% of the grade. He gives a study guide a week before exam. Literally just know those terms and you will get an A. Always extra credit on tests that are just random things not even related to history!
DMC is the best history professor ever. Period.
He gives great feedback and def. cares about what he teaches! Being online, you could work as far ahead as you wanted. Some people don't want to write a discussion or essay every week, but there are no tests. To me, that is a great trade. If any class ever has Prof. Campbell as your instructor, I highly recommend you take it!
I'm writing this review mid semester and I'm already giving myself an A+. He absolutely loves to ramble on about God knows what but it doesn't even matter because it won't be on the test. Tests are about as easy as it gets. Class is an easy A.
Mr. Cambell is AWESOME! He tries to really connect with his students. The whole semester, the only grades you will receive are from 3 tests and the homework thats due once a week. Homework is an easy A. He does not take attendance. But with that, if you don't go to the class you wont know much for the tests. All the tests have bonus questions.
BEST TEACHER EVER! He is super funny and he is very passionate about history. There are only two tests and a final with some easy online activities. He posts all his notes online and his test are very straight forward. really, really funny dude!!!
Dan Campbell is a real gem at Auburn. He understands that most freshmen have to take his HIST1010 class as a core credit, therefore he does not overcomplicate it and gives you the tools to succeed. He gives 3 tests a year that are very doable if you go to class. He is also hilarious and makes the classroom a fun space. 100% would recommend.
Your whole grade is 3 tests, one of them being the final which is not cumulative, and weekly homework assignments. The homework was easy and you can finish them all at the beginning of the semester if you want. You will never write any papers or essays, everything is multiple choice. If you have the opportunity to take him as your professor do it.
All test material is found on PowerPoints he posts so no real need to go to class. Lectures are kind of boring but he is a funny guy. Only three tests all year so make sure to study ahead of time bc they cover a lot of material. Grade consists of three tests and inquisitive all 25%. Inquisitive is a free grade as long as you do it.
Mr. Campbell was a great professor. Though he sometimes got side-tracked in class, his lectures were still really interesting. 25% of your grade is Inquisitive (one every week), the other 75% are three exams. He gives you a study guide before each exam though, which makes the exams fairly easy. Great choice for a core course!
He was a great professor and was really funny. He had lecture slides that he talks from. The slides have a lot of information on them but if you show up to class and listen, you'll be fine.
The best!!!! I love this man and he is one of my favorite professors at auburn so far. You can tell he truly loves teaching and he wants everyone to succeed. Just know there are only 4 total grades. 3 exams and 1 big inquizitive grade. The exams are so doable. His lectures were not always super entertaining but it is history so what do you expect
Runs a great class
asy class if you study the night before it's an easy A or B. I never went to class except twice and he was very funny and knew his stuff. He likes to engage with the class.
Clear grading criteria that set you up for success in the course. Stick to the syllabus and you'll do great.
Cool Guy
Mr. Campbell's class is very easy; tests are directly from the notes, and he gives a study guide a week before the test which is word for word for the test. His lectures are very long and boring, and he sometimes says questionable things about politics and religion. There's weekly inquisitive assignments that are 25% of your grade, so do them.
It is very easy to make an A with Professor Campbell. He gives study guides the week before the test and the only other grades are Inquizitive assignments due every Friday. Attendance is not required but sometimes he gives out bonus points to the people who are there. If you do the Inquizitives and study his slides you will make an A!
Awesome professor! He clearly lays out the grade breakdown and if you show up to the lectures the tests should be easy! IMO he's pretty funny which is always nice.
He's very sarcastic and has quite a dry sense of humor. It made a 3:30 class bearable. Go to class and study the study guide and you'll be fine.
Professor Campbell is a very good professor overall. His lectures are long and can be confusing just because it's much more wordy than just bullet points of facts. I wish there was more structure, but the tests are so easy that it doesn't impact your grade. Going to class (optional) is definitely recommended, it will make the tests 100 times easier
He was ok, talks ALOT. I didn't really go to class and still ended with an A. His test are very straight forward. Take him for an easier class that you don't necessarily have to go too!
This professor was amazing, seriously. If you have to take history at all please please try to get him. He understands you have other classes and doesnt assign too much work, his exams are fairly easy if you study the study guides he gives and pay attention in class. Honestly i hardly went to class at all this semester and still have an A. Love him
I withdrew from this class because I am not a history person so his class was so hard and so boring for me even though I went to class. He only has 2 tests, one homework grade, and a final so if you fail a test there is no coming back. Lectures the entire time and is hard to follow.
Great professor he makes this required credit as easy as possible. Entire grade is just Inquizatives and 3 exams. Exams were fair and he provides a study guide. Just study a for a few days before the exam and you will do fine.
Great teacher, as long as you do assignments and study for tests you can easily get an A in the class
This prof is awesome! Simple and straightforward class with a little bonus at the end. Go to lecture and you will do well on tests. Don't forget your 15-30 mins of homework due Friday. He gives study guides and his tests are multiple choice. He always tries to acknowledge his biases and keep a neutral tone. Lectures a little slow but great overall!
Overall good professor and easy class. PowerPoints are crucial to do well on the tests. Homework portion is a breeze and boosts grade up a lot. Had no problems throughout the semester. Attendance is optional but learn a lot of useful information in class.
Exams were the majority of the grade, and they weren't hard as long as you study. Makes lots of jokes to keep class interesting
Grades depend off 3 tests and homework that doesn't even relate to class. Just study off the powerpoints and spend 20 min a week on homework and its a pretty easy class
since this class wasn't mandatory, i didn't show up to the lectures. i thought i'd do fine one the first exam after JUST studying off of someone's quizlet and got a 78. started taking notes on the slides and the book after to do better and that really helped. test aren't hard as long as you know the material and dates don't matter. overall good
very straight forward class but does require studying like any other class. weekly assignment and three exams total. posts lectures but occasionally will go in further detail and reward those students who attend by asking those questions on exams. Gr8 sense of humor. he asks engaging questions and makes it a comf. enviro. to answer/guess out loud.
Great professor. Attendance is not mandatory, but the lectures help. His study guides make it easy to study for exams. There is a weekly homework assignment, but they are easy and take only around an hour to complete using the textbook.
One of the best history professors for 1010, pretty funny. This class is easy, just make sure to study a few days in advance of the exams. 80% of your grade is exams, which is kind of ridiculous -- but it's like that for most of the history classes. He offers very helpful study guides and attendance is not necessary.
Do the inquizitives he gives you because they will help your grade. His study guides for the tests are really helpful and his lectures tell you everything you need to know about the tests. He has long lectures but will let you out early and keeps them interesting by making jokes and movie references.
I highly recommend Mr. Campbell. The grade consists of 3 exams (75%) weekly homeworks (25%), however the exams are ridiculously easy. He even gives a study guide the week before each one. If you go over the slides he posts on canvas and the study guide you will do fine. Homeworks are online and easy as well.
Great history professor. Very helpful, resourceful, and funny. Although attendance is not mandatory, it helps a lot to show up because tests are almost all lecture-based.
Chillest teacher. In it for the students
Easy A as long as you read over the powerpoints before tests. Grade is mainly based off of 3 test you take including the final.
Attendance was not mandatory, but I recommend going to class to solidify the course content in your head. If you go to class and look over the study guide before every test, you will almost definitely succeed in his class.
This class is insanely easy and an easy A. I went to class maybe 8 times total and ended with a high A in the class. Gives a study guide before every exam telling you exactly what you need to know before the exams, and as long as you know these terms, the exams will be a breeze. Exams are 75% of your grade and HW is 25%.
Campbell is an easy professor! His lectures are extremely boring but funny at times! There are 3 exams worth 25% each and a easy homework assignment also work 25%! The test are very easy as long as you study the study guide! I recommend you go to class sometimes, but if you skip, you are not really missing anything! Take Campbell for an easy A!
Campbell is a good entry level professor. He is super funny but his lectures can get a little boring. Attendance is not mandatory and you can pass without going. The difficult part is that there are only 4 grades. Therefore, if you do bad on a test it's really hard to come back from. Tests cover a lot of information so definitely don't cram.
One of the easiest classes i've taken. I could count the amount of times i attended class on one hand yet still made an A. His tests are simple and the homework is easy. Take him if you can you won't regret it.
Never went to class other than test day. if you make a study guide using the slideshow lectures than you will easily get an A. Study guide terms is just like the tests.
Ridiculously easy class. Tests were multiple choice and straight term + definition. My only advice is DO NOT MISS YOUR HOMEWORK. It will make getting the A so much easier. It counts as 25% of your grade and is for completion. I regret not taking this man again (I took him for granted).
The easiest class ever. Barely went to class and made high A's on every test. When I did go to class, the lectures were hard to follow but the study guides prepare you for every test. If you need to take a history, TAKE HIM.
Not a hard class but this teacher is a lib. He talks about politics all class and he is one of those Anti-America guys. Not too big of a deal but it is kind of annoying when you're trying to learn history and he's trying to persuade you about political things.
hes so chill and all you need to do is go to the lectures. gives a study guide for exams with all you need to know.
Genuinely the easiest professor ever. Lectures are completely optional to attend, as he posts the slides online either that day or the following. Can get boring at times, but it doesn't really matter. The hardest part is the lab sessions because there's reading every week, but even that is simple. Definitely recommend.
He likes to talk and can get off track, but stick to taking notes of the slideshows and you'll be fine. He's a nice guy, funny too, and his lectures aren't mandatory attendance, but his labs are. Overall, would take his class again, since his tests are super easy. He claims they aren't, but they are.
Dr. Campbell is an amazing professor, would absolutely recommend him to anyone taking a history course. He genuinely cares about his students, is hilarious, and creates the course specifically so that things are easy on the students. You will not regret taking his courses.
Dan Campbell is the BEST PROFESSOR EVER! His tests are so straight forward, and the study guide is identical to the test. I went to class a total of 5 times this semester, and ended with a 97. Take this class!!!!!
HIST2010 not 1020 - Very easy & straight forward history class. Extra credit for attendance at times. Study guide for exams. History paper project not difficult. You can pass the class even if you do not attend the class other than on exam days. You will not regret taking his courses.
I didn't particular like him himself but he was a good, reasonable professor for the subject.
Kind of hard to follow along in his lectures but the exams are identical to the study guide so as long as you study that it's not a hard class.
Very easy class, got 100s on both exams so far, highly recommend Dr. Campbell, he is very nice as well!
This class was terrible. The classes are hard to sit through but not helpful. He posts the notes. The study guides are long so it is impossible to memorize. Unless you sit and study for over 10 hours, the tests are hard. There are barely any grades. I asked for help and he said don't come to class but rather spend that time memorizing the slides.
Very easy class, and very easy professor, but the lectures are crazy hard to sit through and painfully boring. He has some weird takes on history, and honestly you won't really learn much about history but it will be a very easy A as long as you memorize the study guide and complete assignments. Attendance is not mandatory either which is nice!
I never show up to his lectures and still make A's on the exams. This was the easiest class I've ever taken. Would def recommend!
He gets off topic very easily and it's hard to pay attention in lectures. It was a fun class though, he teaches what is directly on the slides and the tests were incredibly straight forward and the study guide. The final was not cumulative and the exact same as his other 2 tests. His homework was pointless but for a grade. Take him!
TAKE HIM!! I took him online for 1120 and it was the easiest course I have ever taken in my life. There are 3 essays that are long but aren't bad at all. I turned in one paper 10 minutes before it was due and got 100. I have never had an easier class in my life he is amazing!
He claims that his tests are very easy but only a handful of students make A's. You have to study the PowerPoints thoroughly in order to make decent on the tests. All your grades are 3 tests and inquisitives that don't mean a lot to your grade. He offers no extra credit at the end of class if struggling. I would not take him again.
Great teacher!! Hilarious and one of the best I've had at Auburn so far. I had him for both 1010 and 1020. For both classes as long you read the PowerPoints and study them and the study guides you should be more than prepared for the tests. The tests are straight forward and are his words so use his information given not anything you can look up.
Dont really need to go to class because he posts the lectures on canvas. Just study the lectures and know all the vocab he posts on the review. Its a lot of memorization and terms but that is pretty much all that is on the tests.
Took Dr. Campbell for both 1010 and 1020. Very informative and entertaining lectures and clear expectations. For every exam (which are fair and not hard), he posts all slides and study guide and everything on the guide is what will be on the test. All multichoice. Attendance not mandatory. Straightforward and hilarious. Definitely recommend!
Easy multiple choice exams, self explanatory for the most part
Absolutely hilarious. The exams are not complicated. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend attending because he elaborates more. Study his lecture powerpoints and REVIEW the study guide. Great professor. I love the sports rants as well, very comedic.
Extremely funny professor that really cares about the material. Easily the best professor in the history department, no question.
Professor is a great guy just go to class. Optional attendance with extra credit some days just for showing up. Class is easy I just didn't go so got a 78.
The only grades you get are 1-2 10 point assignments a week (InQuizzitives) and 2 exams +1 final exam. He says his exams are east but others and myself find that to not be true. It's a ton of memorization (80-150 terms every test) and you have to understand each them on a way deeper level than what's needed for basic history.
Best History class I've taken. Dr. Campbell is hilarious and super knowledgable. Class is very engaging and test are really easy if you just show up to class. Would 100% recommend taking this if you need a history credit! Learned a lot and was an easy A.
He makes you learn the class in lecture but also read the textbook because he doesn't teach the textbook. The tests are about the lectures and then there is a couple hours of weekly homework about the textbook. You end up learning the class twice, but it isn't hard to get a good grade if you just invest the time. I managed it with 17 credit hours
Lectures are super boring. Tests are not easy but not too bad as long as you take time to study before. Only grades in the class are tests and inquizzatives
he is very understanding! definitely the best there is!
This class was a fever dream. You definitely dont have to go but hes a very entertaining guy if you want to go. He gives study guides for each tests and sends out his slides. Some things he only says in class so its worth it to go. Sounds like kermit, LOVES auburn, has some lore. go to the last day of class
favorite professor i've had at auburn. attendance isn't mandatory but going is worth it because he makes it enjoyable.only homework is inquizitives once a week and the tests are taken almost exactly from the study guides. if he wasn't leaving auburn i'd say take him. if you can find a way to still take him then do it. he's definitely got some lore
Great professor, very engaged and helpful
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. All of the other reviews are so wrong because I am a 4.0 student and got my first B after taking this class seriously and trying my best to get an A. I am not a huge history person but the class was unnecessarily hard and graded 90% by exams, which are so difficult. Do not listen to the other reviews, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF
He has probably been my favorite professor so far. Dr. Campbell is very funny during his lectures (although he can go on tangents). His tests are pretty straight forward. Make sure you do the study guide and you'll be fine. I'm in engineering and his class was my favorite so far. Awesome prof!!
I barely showed up to class and made a 95 by just doing the study guides. I, however, would recommend going to class because he is genuinely one of the nicest professors at Auburn and is so caring.
Professor Campbell is in a word, "eccentric." His class is VERY easy despite the impression he gives at the beginning of the year. Just study the slides, and you'll be fine.
Gave really easy assignments and was very generous on his grading for essays.
