I'm taking his in-class section for isys 363. and I regret doing so. what ever you do, get his online sections. For the in-class section, you have ot go to class unless you want to read the text book yourself. which is by the way dense as hell. quizzes are taking in class unlike the online class, you take it home/etc. boring class. dont take it.
Taking his online course. By far, he's the most unorganized professor I've had. Constantly changing things around all the time. Lots of work for an online class. Excel assignments are quite tedious, directions aren't clear whatsoever.
I feel like all I do - is this class. Too much work for an online class. He wants to have us do a group project creating Access database(it's an ONLINE class). He doesn't explain how to do it. Lectures are boring. Tests are hard - even if you read everything you are very likely to get a C. The teacher is not organized.
By far the worst most ambiguous class design I've had at SFSU. The group project is vague with no templates yet accounts for 15% of the grade. The time required for this course is excessive. I'm a BUS major not ISYS. This class is negatively impacting my more important classes. I anticipate this teachers dismissal but if not skip this class...
I think he is pretty informative and knows what he's talking about.
I hated this class. Worst professor at SFSU, just full of himself. Horrible group project that takes up all semester.Do not take this class!
I felt like this class ruined my semester. Group project is worth so little for the amount of effort it requires. Too much tedious work for an online class, yet I felt like I learned nothing. Ciomek was very unclear w/ his instructions & schedule. He seems nice as a person but not very organized and good at teaching. Good luck since it's mandatory!
This was a difficult class but if you compare it with the other mandatory online class IBUS330, this is by far easier.
simply...the worst. doesnt know how to run a class. the group project is totally unreasonable to do all semester along with everything else. he is ridiculous. WORST. AVOID.
took the lecture class this semester. overall is a hard class, tests are close book, you have to memorize a lot of things in order to pass these tests. the homework are very boring. he didn't explain the group project clearly. don't take him
Tough class to say the least. Lots of homework to do that included Excel and Access trainings and exercises. A group project that is worth 15%. A lot of effort for a project that was not worth too much. A final worth 25% that was closed notes and book. You have to be on top of your work for this class. Don't miss any of the trainings or exercises!!
This class is not difficult, but it has a lot homework, quizzes and tests and one group project that hopefully you have time for it. This class is time consuming, it will teach your ability of multitasking and time management, that's right it will keep you busy.
Lots of work. No explaining. He does not know how to be a teacher. Avoid.
Nice guy. MyitLab HW is really easy, takes 20 mins or less. There were 6 quizzes, relatively easy if you read the book. I didn't watch the online lectures and passed with an A-. Final was okay, he gives you a really good study guide. The group project was the worse (15% of grade). Lack of clarity, my group was confused the entire time.
honestly this professor is the most unorganized teacher, especially for an online IYSY class which you would think be organized, wrong. Not only do you have to keep constant track of the multitude of assignments that are on two separate websites but it is expected to stay posted to the class forum, which is on yet another website. Avoid a real pian
Useless and futile, honestly.
By the far the worst and most pointless class i have ever taken. The teacher is extremely disorganized and going along with the tons of assignments he gives, it makes it extremely frustrating. He is a jerk when you go in and ask him questions about the course and refers you to his 20-something page syllabus. The group project is terrible and long.
Worst professor I've ever taken. Extremely vague and unorganized. Assigned way too much work; Aplia & Sam weekly(trainings & projects), 6 quizzes, a semester long group project, reading, and final. STAY ON TOP OF DUE DATES & DO ALL ASSIGNMENTS!
Yes this is a tough course, given that there is a lot of assignments to keep track of. However, it is not unmanageable. As long as you complete the aplia assignments, and SAM training with a decent amount of effort, you actually won't need to get a high grade on the final to end up with a good grade. Make sure you have a strong group leader!
There is a ton of work in this class. Projects, Quizzes, Exams. Incredibly easy class though. If you do not get at least an A- you put no effort in it.
He's a good lecturer, there's a lot of busy work but it's all online, I had no knowledge of IS going in and the HW was fine. It's just practice on how to operate programs. The project is where it gets you- ask for lots of clarification and bring drafts through out for approval to succeed. He doesn't explain well what it entails.
This is another one of the classes that needs a serious remodel. The coursework is spread out on different platforms (annoying). It's not necessarily difficult, though. Like most people said, the group project is a major pain.Ciomek seems nice enough, I never needed to contact him since he was punctual about posting updates on the class forum
I found this class to be easy but with a lot of busy work. There are three different websites to keep track but you'll get used to it. The HW is not difficult. The group project on the other hand can be VERY troubling since it is an online course. Make sure you got a great leader for the group then it is all good!
This class requires lots of busy work, you will always be doing something in this class but it's very easy to get close to 100% credit on each assignment since you will have multiple chances to re-take assignments/quizzes. Final is cumulative but make sure you do the study guide given at the end, this will make it a lot easier.
The class was actually very easy compared to the ratings here. There is a lot of busy work, but it's very easy. There's Aplia and SAM assignments. There are quizzes and cumulative final (quizzes are a bit challenging sometimes). Group project was pretty easy. Hopefully you have a strong group leader. I think this class is a very easy B.
Tons of busy work, but if you really want the A, then it is well worth it. Make sure to do ALL Aplia asignments and do well on them as well as SAM. Only real worry area is quiz, but if you do well on other areas, grade shouldn't suffer.
Despite a lot of work that this class seems to require (Aplia assignments, SAM trainings and projects, quizzes, group projects and a final), it's very well structured and the professor is very knowledgeable and helpful. You will learn a lot from the group projects since you will get a chance to try out new software. Overall this class is easy.
I learned a lot in his class. He is very knowledgeable and lectures are well and precise. He grades fairly and easy on the eyes.
Great class! Really clear and knowledgeable professor that is willing to help.
I will give you very important advice! Read and study each chapter of the textbook by Stair and go to or listen to the lectures online. While you may be able to do all of the work and maybe even do well on the many quizzes without reading, the Final is in person, closed book, no google! So study!
Daniel is really nice person. All lectures are video recorded so you may watch them. If you want to pass this course you need to do all Home Work (Sam, Quiz:Stairs, Group Project) and even if you will fail your final you will get as least C-. Follow all instructions and read iLearn, study together with other students and you'll be safe.
you can't go wrong with this man, he's an incredible teacher. the course is very nice and easy, basically if you can take him. you'd really have to try to screw up in this class. another free A, he will be rude to you if you don't show effort and he tells you from the start that you need to keep up with the course work, there are due dates, its uni
He is a great professor. He helps students a lot if they ask for help and eager to learn
Ciomek is a nice guy, but the class is pretty bad. SAM training and project every week, SAM quizzes, Stair quizzes, exams, and a final. The worst is the group project. You have to build a website with your group and it's extremely frustrating. The program was hard to use and faulty. Group work is for the whole semester, and it sucks.
This class is ridiculously demanding. Basically, he gave us so much work that it inhibited me from learning cos I was just trying to stay a float and complete assignments. I'm a straight A student and this class just might drop my GPA cos busy work. Not cool!
This class wasn't too bad at all, but there is A LOT of work. It's manageable however. The professor is understanding. I hated the group project but its expected in this kind of class.
I found his lectures to be pretty boring sometimes but I recommend going every once in a while because he explains how to do the group project. Or at least watch the videos he posts in iLearn. The last part of the group project is very frustrating, especially for the group leaders. Like herding cats, I swear... Anyway, tedious but at least he's hot
Pretty demanding teacher. His class is do-able, but quite unfair regarding expectations. We were expected to complete weekly homework assignments and do a graded excel project EVERY week. We also had to participate in a group project throughout the semester. Be prepared for a heavy work load if you take this class.
Professor Ciomek is a great professor. You'll do well if you actually put effort in his class. He's a wealth of knowledge for the real business world and he keeps up with all the current technologies and events. I would take him over and over again if i have the chance!
Lots of work, but definitely manageable if you space it out. All the work is done online, with one semester long group project. Luckily, I had an awesome group so I didn't have any issues with it. Completed all the work, failed the (in-class!!) final, still got a B!
Daniel is awesome! Lots of work but if you keep up on it, you will do fine. Group project is the most difficult part! He wants you to succeed!! Extra credit helped bump my grade from a B to an A. I would take him again.
I have a much better understanding about tech! U get VALUABLE hands on experience with Excel, Access, building Wordpress site. Not a hard class, the workload teaches u essential skills such as TIME and TASK MGMT. Daniel is super knowledgable, nice guy, 1 of the best! Reviews from 2013 seem to describe other teachers I've had, definitely not him.
I am taking his class online and it's a lot work. The content of his class is too confusing because there's a lot of areas that you need to learn such as access, excel, wordpress and IT. There's project, quiz, hw every week and one final exam at the end. The professor is just way too demanding. I hope he can make grading simpler for easier learning
Professor Ciomek is a very smart and passionate guy. He is very knowledgeable and presents his lectures in a way that keeps your attention, even though the material can be dry at times. The homework can be tough at times but if you go the labs, you will receive sufficient resources to pass and even excel in the class. Quizzes can be tough as well.
bunch of things to do but course is well designed to get an A. drop some lowest scores so you get a chance there. very knowledgeable professor, well prepared and enthusiastic about what he teaches. make sure to attend his class. some exam questions are from lectures / clips watch in the class.
He is very thorough, organized, and available. I abhor computers and was really nervous about the class so I used a tutor. I would have learned more doing it by myself but it was way worth having the extra help to get me through it to make it painless. Randomly assigned a group to build a Wordpress site all semester. Pray you get a good group!!!
Great communication. I only don't like that we had to do a group project but he is very helpful is one is slacking, which happens. All homework is online and the class lectures are view-able online so you don't have to physically show up. Just do the HW and you'll be fine.
So, there was a lot of homework in this class. I was actually shocked how many assignments there were. Also a group project due at the end of the semester. But Ciomek is very helpful and wants you to pass, as long as you do all the homework on time. Don't procrastinate!
I've taken many online classes before and Daniel's by far the best one. His communication is always clear and thorough. While in many other online classes I feel like a seft study class, this one definitely is not. Daniel is very helpful, engaging, and responsive. Lectures are always interesting. There is a lot of homework but an A is attainable.
Professor Ciomek is a great guy. He really wants you to learn, and I actually did learn in his class. There is plenty of homework, several quizzes, and a semester-long group project. His tests pretty much directly come from the book and his lectures. His expectations are very clear, and I would take him again.
You can tell he loves what he is teaching. Simple class if you just read and do all the homework. He does lecture based off the readings so it can be repetitive , but he is super engaging and has video clips and just wants you to learn. Just follow all his study guides and you are set with an A
A lot of work to do for this class BUT it is NOT hard. 1-2 chapters hw per week w/ 3-part group project throughout the semester. Excel and Access hw begins a few weeks into the semester but it's useful stuff. He makes it crystal clear what you need to do for every assignment. He's always replying to students on the forums even on weekends.
I took his class online (actually hybrid), but I never attended the lectures or watched the videos. It was clear what he expected from his students. Do you work and you will earn the grade you deserve. He was super friendly and helpful during office hours!! and Responds kindly and promptly to emails, unlike the other ISYS professor I took for 263.
Great teacher took Hybrid course. Lots of help and steady communication
Good guy great communication
The teacher is very responsible and smart. Student need to spend time on reading the textbook and on doing homework.
Watch the due dates some are due on the weekend and others during the week but his communication is excellent.
Good course
I personally thought ISYS was a boring class, however, Ciomek is a wonderful instructor! You can tell he genuinely cares for his students and goes the extra mile to inform us on opportunities outside of the class. He also brought in guest speakers. Super cool guy. I'd take him again.
ITS A GOOD PROFESSOR IN OVERALL, i will strongly suggest to take him.
really tough comprehensive 15 chapter final
Professor was great, emailed regularly, communication was great. The only thing I did not like was the comprehensive final exam. You're given 45 multiple choice questions randomly from a 700-1000 question bank. The study guide given was basically the entire class jotted down into a list. A lot of material to study only to be tested on 45 random ?'s
Professor was great, he made this class really easy if you keep up with all the work.
This class is not an overly difficult class, as long as you keep up with the dates and do the work. I really enjoyed this class. Great professor!
This class is about Management Information Systems (MIS), Microsoft Access, and Microsoft excel. You learn the basics to the more advanced ways of using excel. Be prepared for the final, as it accounts for 35% of the grade. The final topics consists of 3 pages, I suggest you take notes not just on the vocabulary but how is it used.
The class was completely online except for the final. Assignments are multiple choice questions and learning to use Excel and Access, which was actually really fun.
Great Professor. Highly recommended!!! Professor Ciomek is very knowledgeable, and his passion for Information Systems makes this class fascinating. Of course, you have to be top of the schedule as he posts practice exercise, quizzes online. Great communicator, as the online course can be off track if not get reminded of schedule. Brings guest lectures to add the practical perspective to class. Readily available on office hours and very helpful on explaining concepts.
Awesome professor. He cares about his students and keeps you notified about all the assignments you have coming up. Just do the work online, study for the final and you'll be solid. Homework isn't hard just can get a bit tedious but can easily get it done in 2 hours at most.
By far, this was the hardest class. You have homeowork (25 qs), project training, and a project based on the training due every Sunday. the projects are long and difficult. They are based on MS Access and Excel. The excel part is easier. the final is worth 33% which is a big chunk. Take advantage of every extra credit and don't miss any assignment
Nearly everything is available for you online ahead of time - finished all ahead of time with weeks/months to spare. Only thing I worried about was the final but Daniel made sure to specifically outline what would be tested.
Super easy. You don't need to show up in class. Final is in-person and counts for 30%. Have homeworks, projects or quizzes every week
5 quizzes, theres hw, MS access, and excel projects, training exercises, and hw quizzes every week and 1 final exam 45 questions. Boring lectures and tons or reading. I didnt do any readings and didnt attend any lectures and passed with a B. Do not procrastinate on the work because it is a lot to do. Projects, hw, and quizzes take time.
Best prof ever, gives lots of chances for extra credit. Final exam worried me but I made a study guide, looked it over the day before, and passed the class with a 95% knowing nothing about the course, not having watched any of the lectures, or read anything. Easiest A and if someone got anything lower, they're stupid and didn't try. SOO easy!
This class makes it so difficult to take on a MAC. It's 2019, make the class compatible for all types of platforms! I don't understand why I have to download some extra system in order to do the homework because you have to own a PC.
This course is a prime example, of SFSU's ability to look at profits (impacting courses) by hiring one teacher with an automated system to funnel in as many students as possible, by cutting their labor cost at the expense of the student body. It's essentially 3 courses jammed into 1. 3 textbooks, and multiple different platforms to keep track of.
Very clear and decent professor. Cares about student achievement, even in the huge classes.
Daniel Ciomek is a very above-average teacher. Spring semester at SFSU, he taught 500 students online and close to 200 for in-person twice a week. Whats amazing is that he also taught my class of thirty students in a 3 hour block at night without ever seeming tired or frustrated. He is passionate for what he teaches and cares for his students.
Took this as a hybrid course. Had a 91 in the class prior to the final exam and ended up passing with a C + almost B- (0.5 off, but he doesnt round grades). Final exam is worth 33% & covers over 1,000 possible terms. Take ALL practice final exam attempts, questions on the final will be very similar. Communicates well through semester though.
Amazing professor! Daniel really cares about his students and will try his best to help you. Stay on top of the work, especially the multiple choice hw. its easy to quizlet those, but try your best to actually read the material and understand, cuz it will help u out on the final (no cheat sheet). great class to earn badges in Microsoft too
I liked having the option of going in person or virtual. The professor was very clear regarding every topic and continued to be as a resource throughout the entire semester. He answers emails timely and responds on the discussion boards. Though his emails are a bit lengthly, it always encompass useful information. The assignments are very easy!
The class is easy to pass, but you gotta work super hard for an A. I studied the textbook for a week straight and typed up a bunch of notes for the 35% cumulative final. It would've been way less stressful if the study guide was more specific than a list of 100+ terms.
He is a good professor. He cares about student's future so he always telling us what kind of free programs school offers and should take advantage of those programs. NOTE: Never Cheat on the Excel or Access project, study the study guide for final and you will pass the class.
beneficial course for eventual office pros; assignments mirror real world applications. excel and access heavy. the technical aspect of the course may be overkill since its more IT than BUS. Final is 35%. take advantage of the practice final. if you study/memorize the test bank, you should get an A.
I took this class online and it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. All you have to do is try your best with you weekly projects and quizzes and actually take advantage of re-attempts. I thought I would fail this class but I ended up with a B. Professor can come off sarcastic/rude in the email.
The amount of reading and work required for this class is outrageous. It's my last year of uni and I have never had a class comparable in the amount of time required to get by. This is like 5 classes combined into one. Its a required course, why is it taking up my life???
I took Prof Ciomek's class online. There are several assignments due each week so you have to keep up with the work. The assignments are a mixture of readings and practical application with Microsoft excel and access. The assignments are easy but tedious. If your looking for a passive class this is not for you.
He is a very responsive professor and he really cares about students. There are a lot to do for this class, Excel and Access training, readings, HW dues every week, but you will learn a lot that are so practical to apply to real office Microsoft skills. He also provides plenty of resources to students to learn more about IS. Take his class!
Easy A.
Hands down to one of the best professor I ever had. He is very organized for the class and course materials. He is super helpful .Work hard, do your work on time. You'll learn a lot and pass with good grade.
THE BEST 100% everyone should take him as a professor! During this pandemic, he was very caring, his whole course is easy to use, and very organized! He is always the nicest professor I have ever had. Just do your work and try not to procrastinate. There are forums where you can try to communicate with your classmates for more help!
Hes such a nice professor! The class is based on weekly projects, multiple choice quizzes and a final. Try not to procrastinate and do all of your work and you should be fine.
I took his class in the fall and it was not bad. There's weekly projects and quizzes with re-attempts. He's a good professor and cares about his students it should not be hard to pass his class.
This professor deserves more than 5 stars. I took his class during a pandemic and he was very accommodating and understanding more than anything. He definitely cares about each and every student equally. He gives you life tips/advice to help you stay well mentally and physically. As we know most professors only care about what they teach. The best!
Always available in office hours, very helpful and supportive. Do the work on time, do the readings go to class. You will work for your A, but you will also learn. Don't procrastinate, stay current on the projects and reading assignments. You have 3-5 chances to take the tests and projects so there is no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Alot of students struggled, but its straightforward to pass. Do the work. It can be alot of work to some but i am an ISYS major so i excelled. Hw, midterm, final were multiplechoice and can be found online. Access/Excel projects were tough, have 5 tries to do it. Alot of videos show many of the projects online, we had groupchats to help each other.
He is one of the best teachers you can get. His lectures are straightforward and easy to follow and he will answer any questions and always ready to help students with anything. The projects can be hard but the textbook has it all step by step. He also gives his students important information like links to free medical school and mental health help
Need to organize your assignments well to pass. The technical portion of the class (Excel and Access) is forgiving. You have a videos to guide you and training simulations that build you up to do the grader assignments. Learn the ins and outs of navigating Pearson, and you have all the resources you need in there to pass the class.
Very easy A. You get 5 attempts on the excel and access projects which are the hardest assignments you will have worth 35%. Read the error reports which will help you. There is reading homework and quizzes that are easy if you have read the textbook and watched the lectures. Cumulative final worth 11%. Excel simulations also easy with unlimited try
This class is so terribly organized. SFSU should look at how his iLearn is set up because its absolutely terrible. I am a 3.8GPA student, and the levels of confusion and uncertainty from his syllabus is unbelievable. Pick a better professor and save your money.
Super easy A. All you have to do is make sure you're truning in your assignements. Multiple attempts on pretty much everything. The work given is pretty standard for this type of class. If you find this his structure hard or disorganized it's truly all on you. He updates grades 1-2x a week so you know where you stand. Take him! He's great
This is not easy class, this is very hard class, and loaded with work. You will be doing Five different assignments every week. Two of them very long excel projects, 25 question, with 3 steps, so up to 75 steps each project. On top of these weekly assignments, you will be doing tests, every other week, Excel Projects , uo to 75 steps in 40 minutes.
This is an easy course, yes you do receive quite a bit of homework but it's doable. The excel projects were a bit tougher to do as opposed to the access projects which I found rather easy to do. Its on you if you manage to fail the class, just keep up with the homework/assignments and you should easily pass with an A. Take him.
I was surprised I ended up loving this class! He CARES, and helps in office hrs! Work: sim training, HW projects, and quizzes. Sim trainings have unlimited attempts, w/ aids that show you how to do each step. HW projects are 5 attempts, which I found medium difficulty. Quizzes weren't hard at all either! TIP: schedule doing your assignments early.
One of the nicest caring professors during the pandemic. Its 100% online so yes you do have a lot of work, but he sends weekly email reminders. Really wants you to pass. Is creative in his approach, makes you think about how IS is changing the world in an unbiased way. Graderproject can be hard but doable. tip. Do 100% at the beginning of semester
Course content isn't hard, but there's just an absurd amount of homework/tests/projects to do each week. Professor is helpful in replying to questions and obviously cares about his students' education, however he paid absolutely no attention in balancing the workload each week. This class uses pearson, which is an awful, buggy, and laggy platform.
He's a terrific professor. Valaich's textbook quiz and final exam are difficult since he only allows 40 minutes for 40 quiz questions and 75 minutes for 75 questions in the quiz. However, getting an A in his class is easy if you perform well on the assignment, My LabIT quiz. You should take advantage of the extra credit if you want A.
There is a lot of work but its manageable this includes multiple choice homework, forums, excel and access simulations, quiz and grader project (you get multiple tries). The quiz was the most annoying because he gives you about a minute per question. The final exam is done in person at the library and you get to pick the date so have your gator pass
The professor sends out weekly emails and stays on top of all assignments and uploads grades throughout the semester. He is a good professor overall but please beware, there are ALOT of assignments to do. I strongly recommend taking in summer or winter. There isn't as much work since its condensed.
Professor Ciomek is a great professor. Assignments are based on homework readings (fairly easy), Microsoft Excel & Access simulations and projects, and 5 quizzes throughout the semester. He heavily encourages everyone to take the Microsoft Excel & Access exams, and this class will prepare you to obtain your certifications.
-too much work (averaging 8 assignments per week, worth 8-10hrs) -took him as async but combined both his in-person and online classes so we all had to take his final exam IN PERSON despite having async -gives extra credit -tech savvy and updates us weekly abt deadlines and other things (i.e. self care/school resources)
If you like doing 8 or more assignments a week that average an hour or more per assignment or taking a final exam in person with over a hundred concepts to study with there being 45 questions to complete in 45 minutes this is the teacher for you! If you have other responsibilities outside of this class please consider another teacher.
Not a hard class, just a lot of homework/assignments. I wish the lectures were more streamlined and focused on the actual homework topics instead of silly videos and tangents about whatever is new in the tech world.
A LOT OF HOMEWORK. The only class that had the most homework throughout the week. He omits quizzes from modules which made me miss a few. The Excel homework is difficult and tutoring didn't help. Final in-person but online class???!
This professor does not allow extensions unless for entire class so beware. I suggest having multiple computers at least two (like a laptop and tablet) to complete assignments. excel assignments must be completed on a laptop or desktop just fyi. Final is in person and covers mainly the textbook topics not excel/SIMnet. Its a doable class, kinda fun
Prof. Ciomek is good except too much topics are covered in one semester.
Easy class, but there is a ton of HW. Multiple attempts allowed for all HW. You are able to work ahead and I would strongly advise you do so to be successful in the class. Lectures were pretty useless. Would not suggest attending in person or on zoom. Just watch the recording after he posts it to be efficient w/ your time. Study for Final!
This class had an extremely negative impact on my health that I had to seek mental wellness resources outside of campus. I spent over 30 hours studying for three final because there was an unhelpful study guide. He copy and pasted over a hundred concepts onto the page so I had no direction on where to begin. Unorganized overall.
Students are being silenced here for bringing valid points as to the teaching effectiveness of this class. I personally could barely handle working a full-time job and spending more than 10 hours on this single class that is supposed to be a requirement for my degree. I could not imagine how this class would be without my mom babysitting my child.
I'm having trouble comprehending how this teacher claims to care about his student's well-being yet only allows you to answer each question in a minute or less. I'm noticing inconsistencies between what he says and what he teaches. He is so adamant about preventing cheating, yet copy and pastes his study guide from the MIS textbook.
For his online class lectures are optional however they don't cover how to actual complete his excel requirements. He doesn't actually teach the class but instead makes you answer questions through the McGraw website which usually take an hour long to complete. Has discussion boards where he usually expects another student to help you.
Incredibly disappointed with the overall class structure for this course. I am unsure why there are over eight assignments a week spanning longer than 8-10 hours for a single class. It seems unreasonable especially considering that most assignments are busy work. Nearly everyone did not do well on the final despite studying weeks before.
Navigating this excel portion of the course on a mac is a real puzzle. Picture this weekly routine: 100 questions, project training, and these hefty MS Access/Excel projects. The final? A hefty 33%. Grab those extra credit chances, stick to deadlines, it's a journey, but try your hardest if you have no choice but to take this professor.
SOOO much busy work. It was so hard to balance work and school SOLELY because of this class. Absolutely drowning in classwork. But with that being said, finish your assignments on time and you'll pass.
His class coursework is a lot like Really Really Really A Lot. The materials are not hard but a lot. If you have extremely good time management skills, then this class should be ok for you. Otherwise, run for the hill.
You should be prepared to spend lots of time completing the assignments for this class. There are about 6 assignments that are due weekly and take up a lot of time. Overall, the material wasn't too difficult. If you have excellent time management skills, you should be able to pass the class.
(ISYS 363) The class was easy. Optional in-person attendance. The homework was online and manageable, but tedious and frustrating (McGraw Hill Activities). Mandatory comprehensive final at the end that is in-person. Overall, a very passionate and friendly professor, but I did not like how the lectures were always a week behind the coursework.
It look like the class is a lots of works, but don't let it fool you. Those works are meant for you to pass the class even without getting a high grade on the final exam. Do the MIS question, don't just click it to pass it and you'll do fine in the final. The final is fairly easy, no need to study, mostly common sense question.
Daniel is great. I took the online ISYS class and there are lots of assignments per week so you need to manage your time very well. The final is in person at the end of semester which wasn't too bad. Do homework on time and do the extra credit (MOS certification) and you should be fine.
He's actively involved in his online course, with helpful announcements. Assignments like Excel simulations, DIY tasks, and McGraw Hill quizzes are demanding but doable with good time management. Working ahead is a big plus, though the final exam focuses on McGraw Hill content, not Excel. Your grade reflects your work ethic so be consistent.
The homework on Connect are okay but the assignment on Excel projects will drive you crazy. It always takes me more than 2 hours to complete the excel projects. Overall, everything is good if you work hard and spend time to complete it. Good Luck :>
Lots of weekly assignments, but doable with good time management. Use Unstuck AI and other study aids to stay on top of the workload. Final exam is reasonable if you keep up with the course.
The course was burdened with an excessive amount of busy work. Rather than focusing on meaningful assignments that would deepen our understanding of the material, we were often tasked with redundant, low-value exercises. my grade was also randomly changed from an A to a C at the end of the semester even though my final didn't reflect that.
Professor Ciomek was great. There is either an Excel project/ an Access project due just about every week, + some smaller assignments. Quizzes are based either on the McGraw book or are Excel/Access-based. The final was conceptual, all from McGraw. There is a lot of homework every week, but, put the time in and you'll pass.
The instructor seemed to prioritize quantity over quality, as evidenced by the decision to copy and paste over a hundred concepts directly onto the course page for the final. This made it difficult to know where to start or how to approach the material in a structured and meaningful way. The overwhelming list of concepts became an obstacle.
Solid professor with great lectures that keep your attention. The bonus is he is a kind, caring, and respectful human being. I highly recommend taking his course.
Took as a hybrid course with no attendance. VERY hw heavy; took me an average of 3-4 hours a week. You can work ahead, 1 week of some hw gets dropped, and overall hw isn't that hard (excluding excel hw which some may struggle with.) Professor cares about students and informs of opportunities to build/show their skills, namely through the MOS exams.
Prof. Daniel made a tough class approachable. He is very understanding if you communicate with him concerning absences and extensions. Class feels homework heavy but its straight forward. Excel test is way easier than the homework. He drops a decent amoutn of assignments, so don't sweat a few bad scores. Lectures are engaging, I recommend highly!
Very kind, respectful, and caring professor. I enjoyed taking in course in person.
Super easy class overall, just a bit heavy on the homework with 7–8 assignments per module. That said, you can definitely use some helpful tools (wink wink) to knock out the reading and questions fast. Excel projects take a bit more time but are manageable. If you stay on top of it, it's an easy A.
A good continuation from ISYS 263, just very assignment-heavy; however, not too rigorous in completing. Excel modules are relatively easy to complete, especially if you took 263 before. There are just a lot of assignments to complete every week, and it can get time-consuming, especially if you're not a novice in Excel/MOS.
