Best professor at A&M!!! Dr. Collins is so motivating and makes you want to succeed. I have not missed a lecture because I truly wanted to show up and learn from him. Tests are hard, but not impossible. The book problems help, online homework is heavy but doable, and there's plenty of outside help that you do not have to pay extra for.

Don't take Collins if you will be in a lot of tough classes. If you don't time to go to office hours and become his friend he isn't very helpful, his homework system is nothing like the tests and takes forever, and he puts bonus questions on tests (unrelated to chemistry) instead of a curve. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!!! He was the only professor to teach us some stuff we learned because it's not important to the class. He was not easy to reach by email and when he did it was only to embarrass you in class. It is also very hard to access him outside of class due him having limited office hours. He would also go off on irrelevant tangents.

Dr. Collins was amazing. He is truly passionate about organic chemistry. Yes his exams are difficult but they are very doable since he gives out plenty of practice. He is fair with his grading criteria and the way he structures his class is in such an organized way! You will actually learn in this class and it won't just slip like other professors.

Dr. Collins is a great professor. He is great if you want to actually understand ochem, instead of getting an easy grade. He assigns more homework than others and teaches concepts others don't, but he teaches them well. One slight is that he can go on tangents, which are really distracting. Honestly, the lab portion is what stressed me out more.

The thing about chemistry is that if you do enough practice it's literally impossible to fail. The advantage of taking Dr. Collins is that he gives you a TON of practice and answers to the practice. The lectures do involve tangents that are just barely related to chemistry. I found them funny and a nice break. You spend 3-5 hours week out of class.
