Highly recommend this guy as an American Government professor . His classes consist of lectures where he thoroughly discusses the topics using slides that he makes available for students on blackboard. We didn't have many assignments or tests. The assignments we had were pretty straightforward. He is energetic and approachable. I enjoyed it.
He is a great professor. I actually liked learning about politics so I was pretty interested. There were 2 or 3 non-multiple choice tests and 1 paper due at the end of the semester. Politics can be a touchy subject but he did not try to push his point of view on people. Would highly recommend him and would definitely take him for another class.
I took this class online, and found there was a lot of busy work for an 8 week class. He is a great professor though, very laid back and a rather easier grader. You have 7 discussion boards, 9 quizzes, 3 "assignments" (1-2 page papers) 1 Essay worth 200 points and a group project worth 200 points of your grade. Just a lot for short 8 weeks.
GREAT ROFESSOR! I've enjoyed his class so much! He gives great feedback... easy going - enjoyed the subject. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
He was very funny and his lectures were phenomenal. He always make sure you truly understand the course. He is very funny and chill. You do have to read the textbook for the test. However, the test is openbook! Would definitely take this class again!
This man is amazing. I am a science major, so clearly, this isn't my desired topic. But he helped me understand how everything works in government. I would recommend finding a friend for the class so yall can help each other on quizes/tests.
There is a group project at the end of the semester. He gives lectures and does very well at delivering them. If you have questions, he is more than ready to answer them. The quizzes are generally easy if you study and use the textbook. He is very humorous and bonus tip if you enjoy a space geek liberal with a sense of humor.
Definitely one of my favorite professors I have taken so far! Super passionate about politics and he always asks about students opinions which is great. Explains each chapter off powerpoints really understandably. Would take him again no doubt about it! Easy A!
He's a great professor and really wants students to learn the material. He likes participation and welcomes discussion so don't be afraid or intimidated to speak out even if you don't agree with him! Helpful w questions after class. The only prob I found was that the quizzes had questions he didn't discuss much in class. But overall, recommended.
Great professor, easy going class. I didn't use the book at all- just took notes on lectures and got an A. He does a great job explaining the material (not boring at all) by relating it back to current events. All quizzes/ exams are online and open book. Final group powerpoint @ end. He encourages discussion on the material! Looked forward to class
He is an amazing professor, he only gave a midterm it's 5 questions and a project u will choose any topic u want and the final is 5 questions...
Prof Cronrath has an immense amount of political activities under his belt, and that makes the information in his lectures and in the book more interesting. Discussions in class were often lively and informative.i'd take his Local and State Government class if it fit into my schedule.
Professor Cronrath is an AMAZING Instructor! He know he's stuff and makes the material easy to learn. You'll really enjoy his class due to his wealth of knowledge in political science.
Professor Cronrath is an amazing teacher, its very hard now to find college professors who really care about there students and he is one of them.
Online couse with weekly 10q quizzes and biweekly discussion postsif he manages to get BlackBoard to work. Classes are used to discuss course content, but conversations tend to run on tangets and veer off topic. Fun professor to listen to, though.
Funny professor, very interesting and personable. I'd suggest reading the book because the weekly quizzes do pertain to the information read and they were taken right from the book. Easy class if you do your work and submit on time. GO TO CLASS. Attendance does matter!
I was really looking forward to this class until I met this professor. He admitted to writing his own reviews on this site! He makes no attempt to hide his political views. He's a democrat lol! I wanted to learn how the gov't works, not how he thought it should work.
Worst class since I've been in college. All you do is read and take test. No test bank, no preparation. The test question are long and confusing compared to the reading. 20 questions in 1/2 hour and 100 questions in two hours. Even the state gives 50 in 2 hours. Professor does not respond to you. You learn nothing because it's a guessing game
This is an easy class, but the professor takes forever to respond to emails and when he does, the emails are very unprofessional. He seems to be rude and uncaring. I would not recommend taking him at all!
Professor Cronrath is a great professor. He cares about his students and replies fast to emails. He is super hilarious and he makes his lectures so interesting. Politics are a tricky subject, but he makes you feel comfortable. He wants to hear your opinion! Hes super cute, too. Easy A!
Really enjoyed this class. The online quizzes were a little difficult and group projects are typically annoying but he made the lectures pretty interesting. He was always willing to give feedback and was helpful with any questions as well as understanding when life issues arose. Good sense of humor and not the worst professor to look at either.
Dr. Cronrath is a great lecturer. Class is pretty straight forward.... read the material and you will do fine. Textbook is a must I thought. Quizzes are all online and every week. 1 group project required per semester. Easy and fun. Good class.
Second time taking professor Cronrath, fair grader, great lectures. Has own political views but never discourages anyone from thinking differently. This was a hybrid class so online discussions, but they were fairly easy. Very knowledgeable, gives extra credit. READ the book, you have to work for your grade! If you are willing to learn, take him.
This is no easy "A". Professor is nice and loves what he does, but I didn't care for the timed quiz and tests. Less time, more questions than any class I've taken. Responds quickly to email, but no extra credit, no retaking exam if you scored poorly.
I really enjoyed this class. It was one of the harder classes I have taken, but got out a lot of it. Quizzes weekly and a discussion board. Then a final and a midterm plus a course paper that was 8 pages. The midterm and final were difficult because it was online and lack of time, but gives extra credit. Paper was easy as long as you put in effort.
Professor Cronrath was my favorite professor I took at FSCJ. He made American Government fun and provided us with a relaxed atmosphere. You do lose point for not showing up to class, but the lectures are I'm portent to attend for the midterm and the final. There is also a group project due at the end of the semester.
I am halfway through taking the class right now and I am kind of frustrated. He loves what he does and loves to lecture. However, he has no connection to assignments. There are quizzes and most of the stuff are not on his lecture. He mentions the midterm or final like 2 times. He doesnt put in attendence grade until the end. So currently I have 60
Oh Cronrath. Big fan of him as a person, he actually has a personality. He gets a little distracted, but he's passionate about what he teaches. He makes an effort to connect with students and also offers extra credit opportunities. Likes in class discussion on his lectures. Homework is easy, read the book and take the quiz (online, AT HOME)..
If you are not a reader this class in not for you. Tests weekly based on chapter reading material. Professor gives good feedback.
Awesome professor. Teaches very well and relates to students. Have to do one group project. Quizzes and exams are online.
The professor gives weekly quizzes, a mid-term, and a final -- all are online and open book. If you come to class and do the weekly quizzes, you will do fine. He engages with the entire class and with his personality there is never a dull moment. Recommended.
Heres where his rating goes down: I finished with an 89.5. Yes, literally .5 off from an A, the only grade below an A I would receive that semester. I emailed, asking him if there was any chance for extra credit, a redo assignment, or just compassion on his part. No response. This was an online class, I would expect some level of email interaction
Cronrath was a great professor. This guy lectures all class and you never have in class assignments but he will always have you entertained. His class is easy and and his a very funny guy. Has a lot of jokes. If you need to take this class don't hesitate on choosing this professor. He's super cool!!
he is very entertaining, engages with his students very well. he always says that his quizzes are always on the vocab words but most of the questions are completely irrelevant. a mid-term, final, and big group paper.
He is my favorite professor at FSCJ. Everything is open book and the answers can be found easily in the textbook. Theres a group project which is the hardest part of this class. His lectures are engaging and if you enjoy politics, he is so much fun to talk to. I will be taking his state and local gov class just because I enjoyed his class so much.
Professor Cronrath was an amazing professor. If you participate in the discussions and read the chapters you'll do well
Professor Cronrath was amazing. His book was very easy to read and understand. You do have to make sure you know the material because the tests don't give much time. He was a good grader and gave great feedback. The discussions were laid back and very easy. The tests were also all open book. Easy A!
I wouldn't recommend this class. The study guides don't match the tests and quizzes at all. Your best bet is to read the chapters and try to take in as much as you can. The quizzes and midterms are so broad that you really don't know what to study. Important dates? Definitions? Try finding a different professor if you are able to.
Not enough time on quizzes. Doesn't not respond to e-mail. I do not recommend taking this professor if you want to pass.
I would not take this professor again.
If you want to pass POS2041 I highly suggest to choose another professor.
Choose a different professor.
Horrible, take ANYONE but him. Does not respond to emails, does not care about the students and does not teach. You are expected to teach yourself. He does not give powerpoints, or anything to help understand the material. He gives chapters and you have to read the entire thing and guess what the test will be on. Good luck! Impossible to pass.
He uses his own textbook which is online. This class is easy for people who are actually interested in politics, but he will try to make sure that you understand the material. The lectures are a must. Just reading the book will not do. Your grade is based on quizzes and two tests.
Does not care about his students. Not enough time on tests. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He responds quickly and provides good feedback. You would have to well study all the materials to score high in the tests. Overall, the professor is very nice and helpful. I strongly recommend him if you plan to take POS 2041.
Bad professor for online classes, class is Assignments (Quiz) and Discussion every week. The assignments are timed 1mn per question and there are no redos. Absolutely ruthless when you take into consideration you have to read up to 2 chapters of 40 to 50 pages each and memorize key words. The website/book used is Vitalsource .com its BAD
I've never felt the need to rate a professor but this time I felt I had to. He is by far the WORST teacher I have ever taken. He gives no study guides; he offered me WebEx and kept canceling and coming with a lot of excuses. He responds to emails when he feels like it. He wrote his own book; therefore, the quizzes were details oriented. AVOID him.
Professor Cronrath in a political class does not grade on your political views. He encourages debate. If you can quote studies and statistics to defend your views will go a long way. The level of compassion he possesses for his students is enormous. There is a group project. Do not wait to start it. Groups are assigned early on.
I was very skeptical about this government class because I have never been a huge fan of these types of classes. The class requires a textbook but I got by without reading it, all the information is basically packed into his PowerPoint slides during lectures. Dr. Cronrath himself is a very nice man who cares and respects the opinions of others.
If you have the option to take Professor Cronrath for State and Local Government, do it! Don't think about it, just do it. He is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He gives great feedback, the discussions in class are awesome, and it's a low workload class that is easy to pass if you just do your work and show up for class!
Worst teacher ever!!! Beware 1 minute a question on quizzes and tests. You read 100 pages for one quiz and then you get 1 minute a question seriously. He will take up to 2 weeks to answer a question and extremely rude to his students. I feel all the teachers I have dealt with have been extremely helpful except for this teacher.
I took this class online and he was really understanding. I was personally struggling in the middle of the semester and he let me make up everything without penalty. I also struggle on tests with time limits and he gave me extra time on all quizzes and tests. The final was hard, but weekly discussions were really fun. Lots of reading though...
Be ready for 1 min per question quizzes and tests. He takes forever to respond to emails. He accused my group of plagiarism and then never got back to us on what part was wrong even tho the end of the semester was 3 days away. Would not take the class again.
Am overall great Professor. Not a lot of assignments, but there is a group paper. I usually have a hard time with history but he made it fun and taught me a lot. Highly recommend.
Conrath was a super fun teacher. I took his in-person course and I loved it. He likes to having conversations with his class, which made everyone feel included. His work is honestly not too hard. There's a final paper but his weekly assignments were a simple. Just read the powerpoint and take notes from them, I didn't touch the text once.
An easy class just do your quizzes, discussions and at the end of the semester you have a group essay
He's an excellent lecturer and was accommodating for my special needs. In this 12 week class, we had to read the online textbook, complete tests, and do current event entries. He encourages discussions on improving Americans' and Jacksonville's access to healthcare, representation and more. I would attend his lectures again!
I enjoyed taking his class. He provides feedback every week on discussion posts. He will disagree with your views but still grade fairly. Requires a textbook written by him but you don't need it. He uploads videos every week going over the reading. He is very knowledgeable. The group project was my only negative.
I only got a B in this class because of the EASY group paper. Weekly readings, a few quizzes, 5 discussion boards, midterm, final, and group paper. Everything was open book open note. Only complaint is he gave me the same grade as the group knowing they waited until last second to write their sections. Their grammar and word structure hurt my A.
Very interesting and humorous lectures! He is also very understanding and flexible. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend not skipping classes too often. He's easy going and offers wonderful advice. No tests or exams but you will have to write! I would take him again if I could.
His lectures are funny and it was a good space to have respectful conversations no matter your views. Their is a group paper but he is a fair grader and all of his test are open book. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would recommend going to class.
I enjoyed Prof. Cronrath's classes very much. He is open-minded, funny, knowledgeable and friendly. He gives extra-credit opportunities, explains the material well and will often give full marks for discussions as long as you can back up your point-of-view. I have learnt a lot from him and would recommend his class to anyone.
I really enjoyed Professor Cronrath class. I would not purchase a book for his class because he uploads his lectures and everything you need is there. He's very funny, understanding and NOT a tough grader. Do your assignments, take notes from his lectures and you will pass his class. I highly recommend Professor Cronrath (:
It was a pleasure to take this class as it was very clear what assignments would be and Dr. Cronrath has been my best professor at this college so far. We had weekly discussions and quizzes. Yes, it is true that you have a minute for each question on the weekly quiz and exam, but if you read and study the material then you'll have no problem.
All-online seven-week class so work was condensed. He posts videos in the announcements over the chapters but I suggest reading. Weekly discussions, quizzes, and a group paper. Responded to emails relatively quickly but some instruction was confusing. Group paper was relatively easy. Only four assignments a week and grace on some late assignments.
Excellent professor for anything political science related. Clear grading criteria, overall class wasn't too hard or too easy, and great communication from Dr. Cronrath. Can't recommend his classes enough!
Professor Conrath is late of grading assignments and seems to push his political views in the class. The wording on his tests are difficult as well and he grades harshly on discussions.
I took him for my 7-week course and fully online and he was great! There are discussions for the first 3/4 weeks, but they are easy and are all on your own personal opinion. He gives amazing feedback and is great at communicating instructions and guidelines for all projects ad assignments.
Professor Cronrath is the best U.S. Government instructor I've had; no exaggeration. His lectures are engaging, clear, and active. He encourages us to ask him questions to engage in conversation and clearly teaches about the present real world we live in without boring anyone. He doesn't start his lectures until most students have arrived at class.
Dr. Cronrath was an amazing professor because he got down on our level and talked to us like human beings, not as people below his academic standing. He knew everyone's names, he engaged in conversations not related to class before and after class, and he was very clear when giving feedback on assignments.
Easiest class ever! He was super nice, not a strict grader, lots of discussion boards, but they are all on your opinion about the topic. He is a fast responder and even gives video feedback that is helpful. The group assignment at the end was cake.
I do not recommend taking ANY classes with this man. He is politically biased and is determined to grade you based off of your political opinions. He loves to comment on your discussions about why you are wrong. He is condescending and does not deserve to be in this position. He is also a late grader and I didn't get to see my final grade.
Great professor, fun and runs a chill class. Just do the assignments and engage in the class. He's very open with his moderate views, but has never pushed those ideologies on anyone; in fact he encouraged us to be open with our views as long as we were respectful. He allowed late work, and he graded each person individually in the group projects.
I loved Professor Cronrath. I had him for state and local government. You'll have 1 major project, a open book midterm and final. All the work is open booked, but timed. many discussion post, due before friday and responses due sunday. Attendance is mandatory, but overall his class is VERY easy. If your early college/ dual enrolled take his classes!
While it was a bit of a slow start at first Professor Cronrath always made lectures very interesting and philosophical with each lessons he made us do my only problem with him was he made things a little bit too political and some of the quizzes we had to do were a little complicated since it was a very political class but it was still a good class
Super cool dude. The bad reviews are mostly from some folks who cannot handle anyone disagreeing with them. I found him easy to communicate with and overall thought provoking with lecture content. Easy class. Make sure you do the reading because the tests are wordy.
This class was amazing. He made PowerPoints for every module and prerecorded lectures for each. The discussion boards were my favorite, he covered some topics that were very interesting to talk about!
I loved this class the professor was amazing! He made the course interesting, opening our eyes to the things going on around us. I believe there were 5 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final and like 4 discussions. He also has a group paper due around the end of the semester. I normally hate group projects but my group was very organized.
Great professor. Loves his job. Definitely will offer his opinion.
Great class for open discussion across all subjects, respectful and civil.
Dr. Cronrath is a great teacher. He appreciates when you speak up and give your opinion. He's political but very moderate, I enjoyed his lectures and learned a lot. The tests are all open note and the research paper was hard work but fun. Definitely take him for your required civic credit!
Funny and entertaining lectures. Respectable.
This prof was amazing, he was very funny, assigned very little work and his lectures were enjoyable. This was the easiest class i have ever taken, i would def recommend this prof if you plan on taking this class.
Dr.Cronrath was awesome!!! Great lectures. Open minded discussions. Fast responses to questions. I wish every Professor had this rapport with their students. Wish I could give 10 stars.
I have few gripes with Professor Cronrath! He's a cool guy and a great professor. He has service learning as a mandatory part of the class--which I enjoyed, but I understand that some people might find it difficult. My only issue is his response time via email and the group project. It was a good majority of the grade and was a difficult process.
Decent professor. Answers e-mails but the group projects are not productive at all. Especially with the subject matter in this current political climate you may get stuck with people who have antiquated thinking and refuse to do their share of the work. The work and discussions are enough.
He was an awesome professor. I was dreading taking this class but ended up doing well. You end up writing about 5 essays, 4 quizzes, and 2 exams. The quizzes and exams were more challenging but I'm also not a great test taker. Do the work as asked and you should do well in his class.
Would not recommend at all. He has biased opinions and loves to give you his.
1000% the best professor I've had at FSCJ. I took a hybrid class. Attendance was not mandatory, but his lectures are so good I ended up going everyday. He's very understanding, when I had surgery he was extremely compassionate and willing to extend my deadlines. He uses McGraw and has 2 tests, I would have made an A+ with just a little more effort.
Please take him!!! I've passed with an A real easily! Dr. Cronrath is a great professor and he shares political stuff and there were 2 exams and everything was in McGraw Hill. I rate 10/10!
While this teacher seemed very sweet, there wasn't really much learning that happened through this class. All the coursework was through McGrawHill, and you don't really learn the material through instruction. To be completely honest, it didn't truly feel like you had a teacher.
Just a great teacher. He's friendly and charismatic, which makes the material fun to pay attention to. He's very understanding and cares about you making a good grade. You can tell he's just a good person in general by the way he helps people in the class. I am taking him again next semester, and i would honestly suggest him to any student
Dr. Cronrath gives great lectures. I've seen him on the news giving interviews and his personality is what wanted me to take his class. Online class was easy if you read and listen to his lectures.
