Uses same test every year.
Class is a lot of fun but sometimes he spends way too much time on single problems.

I am very good in Math and for some reason I could not understand what he was teaching! Not in my life would I ever take him again! His test are crazy. One problem could be worth 60% of the test so if you get it wrong you are in bad luck! Do not take!!
He was a good teacher and made class a lot of fun. I learned a lot from him!! Great guy!
Worthless, every problem that is difficult he says "Thats a good question, we'll come back to it" and he never does. Ask him a question and instead of doing it he says, well what does the class think? Rambles about a proof hes working on that you never see......if you like to drop, take him.
Gives no partial credit whatsoever. Fails lots of people.

He was a great teacher, the tests were very hard but he has been my favorite teacher so far, he made the class fun
He knows what he is talking about. His tests were quite hard and require a lot of preparing time for them. Always come on review days because he usually reviews a problem or two in class same or almost the same as on the test. He is the guy whom students love or hate no in between. So it's up to you.
He faild me with no reason I attend the classes and I do my home woks and quizes. my advice look for anther pro.
Grades Very harsh.
Holy muscles! I liked Mr. Cunningham, he was straight forward about what he expected. Tests were difficult, but resembled homework. He goofed around with his class. Good class overall!
Nice guy but, Very Hard! He gives no partial credit. It feels like he dosen't care when his students do poorly. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone who isn't already very good at math.
Super hard. No partial credit, not even on homework. Nice guy, funny guy. Doesn't seem to care much about students doing poorly. Avoid him if you arent great at math already.
Clueless, ill-prepared, usually arrives 5 mins late for class, forgets what class he's in, and what was covered the previous session. Teaches from notes, if asked something that isn't on his notes he ignores you, or says he'll cover it later, which he never does. Doesn't give partial credit 'cause he really doesn't understand the work himself.
I do not reccommend him at all. He does not explain things good at all, goes way too fast with the material, and is a jerk when you ask a question. He loves to fail people & doesn't really care to help you. He annoyed me A LOT!!!! DO NOT TAKE!
I took him for Finite Mathematics. He is extremely difficult and hard to follow. He does NOT believe in the use of calculators, and he does not care about his students even if you try to talk to him.
Just horrible, really doesn't help you at all. I noticed that he doesn't really have lectures that it's work from the book that he puts on the board. I would strongly not recommend him, he also doesn't give credit for showing the right concept, all he wants it the right number.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. His quiz's are all from the chapters in the book and are computer generated-that material is never once gone over in class. Might as well just memorize the whole damn book. He acts like he is clueless to the material, he often spends more time than necessary explaining things. How does he still have a job
He was a great techer and i learn alot but he grades way to hard!! about 7 people out of the started 28 ended with a C or bettter!! NOT good
My biggest problem with the way he taught this class is that he grades homework...harshly. We dont even get to ask questions about troubling problems. Homework points can reach up to 38 points for a single section as well. Thankfully I had a LITTLE understanding of statistics before this, otherwise I might have failed....AVOID
he is the worst teacher i have ever had!! he doesnt answer question that students have, its always thats a good question lets ask the class. i didnt pay the class to answer my questions, i paid you!! he wont give review for exam bc thats for high schooler, but he wont tell what to study for. HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
What a joke. Grades way 2 harshly, doesnt prepare, homework is too LONG. Answers questions without thinking. Test are 2 long 4 time in class. Constantly changing his game plan from the syllibus. Spend 10 hrs on 1 homework assignment, he still wont care. No benefits 4 attendance or hrs of effort put 4th. Collects homework only sometimes. AVOID!!!!!
CAUTION. This professor is HORRIBLE. He said he grades homework harder than he grades his tests...HOW does that make sense? He doesn't actually teach, he makes a student come to the board and guess on how to do a problem, then humiliates them in front of class saying they are completely wrong. COMPLETELY disorganized, horrible professor.
This teacher actually grades the homework, so I highly recommend using the teaching center for help. The tests are worded differently than the in-class and homework problems and sometimes you get test questions that you never learned how to solve! He is really good at helping you learn the general concept, but prepare for a horrible grade anyway.
Semester started out good and tanked pretty quickly. He did not like the formulas in the book and would give you different ones to use. Difficult when it came to doing homework. I would not recommend him. Confusing lecture. Makes you feel stupid. Not helpful during his office hours.
Have to say this was the best way ive learned how to do math in all my years, props!
Possibly the worst professor I have ever had. Assigns homework everyday and rarely collects it (at random) but grades each assignment like the final exam. He picked on students in the class that did not understand the material. He grades his class far more harshly than any professor I've ever had, even at WMU. He is bitter that he could not get a job at WMU and takes it out on all of his students every time he walks into class.
He is the worst Professor I ever had. He is not helpfull, his test don't make any sense, and he doesn't teach anything. 4 of us students had another class together all with over 3.6 gpa's failing this class. How does that happen.
he will seems like the worst teacher when you take the class but you will thank him later on. i had calc 4 with him. and i turn out to be on of the best student in my department.
he can be rude. if you ask him to clarify or go over something again he treats you like you are stupid and a pain. no help AT ALL. full of himself.
He is a good teacher. He makes the material fairly easy to understand, but he is a hard grader. He hardly ever collects the homework that he assigns daily. He gives no reviews, no quizzes. Your entire grade is based on Tests and Homework(which he never collects) making it very hard to do well. His tests are short but very hard.
Fairly good teacher. He explain things well, and the homework and in-labs are fairly easy. His quizzes are killer though, they are very specific and you'd have to read the text book very carefully to even catch them.
He attempts to make the class fun by joking around a lot but this takes away from learning time. The tests will kill your grade. Homework is graded but rarely turned in. Countless times, he would teach something, look at what he wrote on the board, then have to re-teach it because he got it wrong. Pick a different teacher if u hope to pass.
Really cool and nice guy but not a good teacher. He screws up on the board all the time and students have to correct him. He grades really hard so never miss class.
He moves quickly, but is constantly asking if you have any questions and will answer them thoroughly. He grades fairly and reviews any answers you need. Hes very nice and definitely enjoys what he does. I had his 8am class and I honestly loved going.
If asked a question, he would restate what he had said before the question exactly the same way, without answering the question.
Although he has a good sense of humor he makes his class much harder than need be. At the beginning of semester he said he would be collecting 11-15 homework assignments but only ended up collecting 7 so your grade was based on those and a couple tests. I think he grades pretty hard, take the same class with TIM STEBBINS
Wastes a lot of time with stupid jokes. First part of the class was easy when he went slow, but after he realized he was behind he sped up through the hard stuff. He does ask if everyone understands everything frequently, but explains it the exact same way that he just taught it.
Worst math teacher ever. He came in completely unprepared every day, then spent the first 15 mins getting prepared and talking about sports. What he would write on the board was complete nonsense, and messed up frequently. I felt that he didn't know what he was doing. There is a huge difference between knowing something and knowing how to teach it.
I of the best math prof. I have had, explains the problems very clearly
Is he even certified to be a teacher? I attended the class every time for the first month and then ended up having to drop because i was failing. He seemed very unsure of what he was teaching, and when asked to explain it again or in a different way, he couldn't. I've been in advanced math all my life and couldn't pass his basic algebra class!
He will hold you to a high standard of academics. You can tell he enjoys what he does! Overall i'd say he's a good teacher. I'd take another class with him, given the chance!
worst professor ever. He doesn't know math, not helpful and you will get 50 HW problem everyday. i some times fix his mistakes at the class to be honest.
Love Mr. C! Yes he is quirky and likes to joke around but he shows a genuine interest in each of his students lives. He let me miss a midterm to go to a very important dr appt and he was VERY understanding. His class is kind of a joke but to me it was a breath of fresh air compared to my other classes. I would recommend him if you want to have fun!
He is a very hard grader. He says that he is going to collect 15 assignments and we have only collected 7. His tests are worded so they are very difficult to understand. I don't understand his teaching methods. He teaches formulas that aren't in the book. He doesn't explain things well even when ask to go back to explain. Wouldn't recommend him.
People will say he is fun to talk to and his class is enjoyable- this may be true but in the end you need to put forth ALOT more effort than necessary in order to pass his class. He doesn't know the material well, he is not helpful, and because of his teaching I've seen so many students have to drop or fail his class. Do not take his class.
Very bad teacher, do not take his class because more than likely you will fail. He doesn't collect any of the homework and he is not helpful. He grades hard and he teaches you nothing. He fails so many people its ridiculous. Don't take him, take somebody else!
Mr. C is not willing to give you any extra help before class, after class, or any other time for that matter. Also asking him for help in class is just a waste for the following reasons: 1.) He rarely understands the question, let alone how to answer it. 2.) He doesn't actually do the problem and show you the steps. He does the BARE MINIMUM!
He does not put a single second extra effort forth, if the scheduled time is up hes already headed down the road.
This class was terrible. If I hadn't just finished AP Calculus in high school, I would've had no clue what he was talking about. He grades homework on correctness, and tests are 7-12 questions long. It's nearly impossible to get an A, and I've never gotten below a 90 in any math class, ever. Comparable to landing in a field of cacti.
I've never submitted a review before because I assume if you put forth the effort you can do well. His grading technique is absurd, making it near impossible to do well. Even with a strong understanding of subject matter and being a confident test taker expect to receive 10% (at least) lower on any test you take. Out of 30 people, only a few passed
Dan is a good professor. Many students attribute their lack of success to be a result of his instructing method, which is far from the truth. If you show up to class, take notes, and do your homework, you will do well. If you want to ensure a 4.0 than consider reading the book's chapter prior to the lecture.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is a horrible instructor. I am a 4.0 student and i barely slid by with a 3.0 in his class. he thinks he is funny but he is NOT funny. His tests are way harder than what he teaches. Forget about partial credit for any problem. by the end of the of the semester a third had dropped because they were failing. He is rude too
Though Mr. C had a fun personality, engaged the class, and taught the material quite well, his grading system sets you up for failure. Partial credit was not given on homework questions, even if you have work shown. Also, 60% of the final grade was based off of 5 test scores throughout the semester, which is unfortunate for bad test takers.
Regardless of what anyone else says, Mr. Cunningham is an excellent professor! He does not hand over a good grade like many other professors do and because of this a lot of students dislike him and post awful things on this site. Mr. Cunningham upholds a standard above the average community college professor and I admire him for that.
Gives multiple chances for students to ask questions if they are uncertain during class. Has a light-hearted, joking personality. Made waking up for an 8am math class enjoyable.
Dr. Cunningham was very funny and made my 8am class worth going to. Some people think he's confusing because he teaches differently from what the book says but his style is "easier". Grades homework on accuracy. Doesnt give partial credit. Definitely a cool teacher!
Mr Cunningham is a good teacher. He tries to make everyone feel comfortable and will answer your questions. It is obvious that he really enjoys teaching. His academics standards are higher than some teachers but his tests are fair. I would take him for another class.
Mr. C is really cool. Pay attention/go to class, and you'll get a good grade.
Very difficult for me to pass this class, not being one that is good with math. He does a good job of explaining things in class, and a lot of the test questions come directly from homework and notes, so make sure that you have both to look over before the test. Do well on the tests and do all of the homework, because that is your whole grade.
He is a good person, but as a teacher not the best. He is unable to explain problems in detail, or step by step in order for the students to fully understand. His wording in class does not match the way things are asked on the tests or on homework. Class notes are not detailed enough to help with homework. He is very vague. Students self-teach.
Just read the book at the end of each chapter and it shows you how to do every problem on your calculator. Funny Guy and if you do well in his class he really likes you.
If youd like to actually understand statistics, Id suggest choosing someone besides Mr.C. He uses the book for hw but doesnt teach the same way the book does, so if you try to consult your book for help it wont be of any use. Also, he doesnt give feedback on hw, its either a check mark or an x without an explanation as to why you got it wrong
He is a fantastic guy to talk with but that doesn't mean he's a good professor. I've read and done every single assignment and done pretty well on them too but when it came to the exam, it was nothing like anything we've ever done. Retaking with a different professor and I have at least 6 people that failed his class retaking it again with me.
Mr. C is a great guy, but the worst prof. His grading criteria is unknowable, he gives no feedback, and is incapable of answering questions. He gives no extra credit and gives NO PARTIAL CREDIT. If the answer has anything wrong with it, no points. I made the mistake of not listening to people here. Don't make that mistake. You've been forewarned...
Pretty great guy in person, but as a prof he's a little tough. I didn't have any major issues with him and his grading, but a lot of the people in my class did. Be careful when taking him. Be very careful. Definitely passable, but you will have to work and be almost perfect.
I am a 4.0 student who struggled in this course not because of my attendance or effort (which were average), but his disorganization and lack of teaching ability. I doubt his credibility as a professor as he did not work with students or give us any tools to succeed. Students would consistently ask him questions to which he had no answer.
While he was a fun professor, he was one of the hardest Ive ever had. Homework wasnt bad, but was nothing like the tests. Sometimes the tests had material that we hadnt studied in class. Often gets his own problems wrong, we had to correct him a lot. No partial credit and no explanation as to why something was wrong. Will NOT accept late work.
Wonderful and understanding professor. He went out of his way to make math as fun as he could for everyone. I appreciate the work he put into teaching and how understanding he was.
Mr. C is a good guy, and he can be fun to listen to in lectures. The work outside of class? I pretty much had to teach myself. He's not the best at getting information to stick with you. I would, however, like to give him the benefit of the doubt as COVID pushed the class online, which made things harder for everyone.
Professor Cunningham is the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He doesn't know how to teach whatsoever. He can't even answer questions because he doesn't know what he's doing. Homework is nothing that we learned in class. Tests are nothing like the homework. Had to teach myself everything. I honestly don't know how he even got a degree.
He really likes the smart kids in class, if you have a bad grade, he will not like you. I asked him questions in class, he would stare at me and never answer. Refused to call me by MY NAME even though I corrected him everytime he called me the wrong name. I dropped after being disrespected every single day. Not an ounce of respect for that guy.
Mr. C is honestly the best professor I've had at Valley. He makes the class fun by joking around and really getting to know his students. You can tell he really tries to make the class fun by getting everybody involved. Loved his class.
He is unprepared. Unwilling to do extra for his students. His is the only course I have ever had to withdraw from. He likes the quick students, but even with their questions he does not appear to have the answers. He grades accuracy for homework, but does not give amazing /notes/feedback/support. Expect to teach yourself the content.
this teacher does not care about your education. almost feels like he wants you to fail.
Cunningham is a case of a really good person but bad professor. He grades homework based off accuracy, so you don't have a chance to make a mistake. The tests, however, are relatively simple and straightforward. He also isn't the best at answering questions if you don't immediately understand the subject.
This was one of the worst classes I have taken at Valley. An absolute ton of homework that is graded on accuracy. Also does not give good feedback on the homework which makes it hard to know what you did wrong. Would not recommend to anyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. C's class. He is very helpful and willing to answer questions. I highly recommend if you take his class that you participate, ask questions, and make sure you are completing the correct homework assignments.
I have never left a review so here we go. This professor has been the worst professor I have ever had and I have a word limit so I will try and be short. My grandmother passed away Sunday and the test was due Sunday. I was going to take it Sunday but obviously didn't as I had to go deal with that. He was rude and told my boyfriend he couldn't
adding onto my previous rate. He gave me that day to do the test and didn't even say he was sorry for my loss. Other times he didn't respond to emails and grades homework by complete accuracy. If you are 1 decimal off he marks it as wrong. Just be aware because i wasnt.
