I am not specifically interested in History, but Deluna made it so fun and interesting. His lectures are great as he tries to tie everything into modern day society and he is passionate. He give 3 exams and 3 (short) papers. Pretty easy class if you read and attend class. His tests pull from lecture, but sometimes from the book.
awesome teacher! very funny and good looking lol. don't need to buy the book since he provides it for you. his class is easy if you go to all the lectures and read what he assigns since his tests are based on both. participation is extremely important! so don't miss class. super good at teaching history :)
Don't skip class, and read all the assigned readings. Don't buy an older edition of this book, that'll mess up your assigned reading, bc everything is set up different. Participation matters, so skipping class or leaving early is a bad idea. But he's funny, and cute, and makes history fun to learn.
Prof. Deluna was interesting and goofy teacher. His lectures are really boring and tries to be funny. His test are MOSTLY based off the book and there is about 30 on each so lectures were useless. I have to retake this class but will get a new professor instead.
I definitely recommend taking him! He makes his lectures very interesting. You will need your book in order to pass the class because you will be tested on it. He also assigns a research paper.
Took Deluna for Spring intersession and I recommend anyone to not take this class during this short period. It is a lot of reading and a lot of things to memorize, really overwhelming. His lectures went waaaay too fast and he talks really quick too. I would have liked to have taken his class during a full semester though, it was pretty interesting
His lectures are not organized, so it can be very confusing. He gets distracted and gets off topic. We discuss things that are not related to history and spends a long time in these discussions. You have to rely a lot on the reading, and there is A LOT of it, so it can be overwhelming.
Not a terrible teacher. Grades hard, speaks very fast, Intelligent but throws to much info at once and doesn't test you on most of it. Reading- he assigns amount averaging 50 pages expects you to know it like the back of your hand. Lectures- Verbally oriented not much written down be a good note taker. Wouldn't recommend if you want an A.
The readings are mandotory if you want to pass the tests. He rarely covers the readings in class. The actual in-class work isn't that bad, mostly discussions and very little lecture. The tests cover a lot of material and are very difficult, too much info to memorize. Make your own study guide from the readings and start to memorize Immediately.
The worst prof I've ever taken. Not clear grading criteria at all, don't believe in the syllabus; for the best, don't even take his class. His information could be interesting but there is not much in the test, reading 50-70 pages for each test but needs you to know exactly the date and year of the events, which is very weird of a History class.
Deluna is passionate about history and it clearly shows as he strives to keep the class engaged and awake. His test are mostly based on lectures which is great because who has time to read anyways. He provides the textbook which is helpful to everyone. Show up, pay attention, and participate. Be respectful, and don't use your phone while in class.
Tough class! Pay attention to lectures as this is where most of the material for the tests comes from. There is very little to write down from his powerpoint, you will need to find the specifics in the assigned reading. Keep up with the readings, they are HUGE sections. You are forced to participate, but overall it was a good learning experience.
He talks about things that are irrelevant to the lesson. He is rude when it comes to asking for help out of class. Expects you to memorize textbook information word by word and several dates. Most test are not things from the lecture.
Awesome teacher. Great and interesting teacher. He is clearly one of the best history professors that I have ever learned from.
I took Mr. Deluna for Intersession and it was GREAT!! He only gave us two homework assignments and study guides and that's it!! No other homework, He even showed us a video but we had to take notes. He did I recommend him for intersession only. I give him a 5 star!! :)
This is my second time taking professor Deluna for History 101. Be ready to write down all his notes from the lectures. He reviews and plays a game with the class for the exams. I find it useless for the last 2 exam reviews because most of the questions were not on the exam. His research paper consist of 5 pages and is super easy. Exams hurt me!
Professor is really funny! The first few weeks are the toughest, you really have to analyze the first few chapters for the FEW homework assignments! It's ironic to be bored with all the interesting things he teaches. I would def. recommend this class, you learn a lot about being a chicano(a). He's also so cute lol!
I really enjoyed him as a person I really opened my mind to history content. Very good at teaching history.
the class was ran very well in parts 1st and 2nd half the professor explains what you need for this class form textbook and exams he does games and reviews for exams and extra credit take notes his reviews will help you on your test he makes the class fun and interesting gives good lectures show up and pass and try not to be late
Professor Deluna is the kind of teacher you wanna take again because one semester with the guy just isn't enough. He makes what snoozy old history teachers make boring, pretty darn interesting! Funny guy, wish I needed more history classes to fulfill because I'd take them all with this guy!
He thinks hes funny. Nice guy though, learned a lot. Too bad I took him at the end!
It's probably easy if you try hard, I missed a few classes though so I missed 2 quizzes. Wish there was more extra credit, but he gives you some. Tells jokes!
He tries to make it interesting an hes always excited and sarcastic but you get used to it. Its not a class you can take lightly cuz my best friend tried. Learned a few things I guess !
Liked that he made us do different things besides always lecture. Some discussions but it's about history and one about current events (guns). Overall, just do the work and you pass.
Great teacher but Tough grader Quizzes and exams are intense a few trick questions thrown in. read, take notes, review, study, participate. this is not a class you can skate through but he keeps it interested. you can tell he loves his job also be ready to take the quizzes as soon as class starts so dont be late Best hx class I ever took
Really enjoyed him great guy lots of test but he states he easy but he is hard give extra credit alot.
I got an a but you have to buy the textbook!
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! This guy is not easy but his classes are pretty interesting and I did learn
Deluna is a funny amazing professor. Just because he is funny does not mean the class can not get difficult. Theres really only 2 assignments in the class. The test and quizes are hard but only if you dont read the textbook and dont pay attention in class. Pay attention on everything he teaches because it is all on the test. You will love the class
Hes quite funny and charming. I was never bored in that class and thats a first because Im not one to enjoy a history class. As long as you do the readings and pay attention during reviews youll be fine.
He Grades hard, Boring class
Class was pretty easy. Miss a day though and you could miss one worksheet thatll be worth more than actual papers so show up. Read textbook, lectures/videos are all over the place so tests can be difficult
He thinks he is funny, always makes you feel that you are behind. Miss a class and get a zero for assignment. He cares too much about his heavy lecture but not you at all. He does not care if you learn or not.
I loved this class!!! It was amazing. The quizzes were sort of hard depending on how well I read and the tests were standard, just do the reading. His lectures helped me understand what I read. Hes very kind, helped me when I couldnt take a quiz on time. Sincerely cares about ones grade. Open minded. Beware anyone who is too lazy to read.
Great guy, thinks he's funny but he's actually a really good teacher. I don't like history and he made it semi-interesting half the time. I plan to take him for all my history courses, hopefully I don't have that many left because history is boring. Nice guy though.
He really cares about the point he's trying to make and he thinks everyone should care about it. I took him for African American history but he seemed like he knew what he was talking about and knew a little bit about the struggle. He talks a lot, but he gives you a chance to say your two cents. I like the music he chose and the pictures are good.
Very nice guy, I came to him when I had a problem with school work and my job. He was very understanding and helped me out. I did not get an easy A, but he worked with me so I could finish. Another one of my teachers wouldnt even answer my emails. Hes great you should take him. He loves history so much LOL!
I have taken all of Professor Deluna's classes that are provided at SAC. He is organized and clear about the criteria required in class. Pay attention to his lectures and final review - that's the key to passing his class. He's not strict, but he has expectations from his students and holds them to a higher standard. He's one of my fave Prof's!
His class is so amazing. The lectures are very good and he is a great teacher. give you extra time if you need and something to make up some test. I like his class very much and I would take it again.
One of kindest professors in the school. He is great at explaining the lectures and try he best to make it interesting. Don't be afraid to take his class because of the negative reviews. He doesn't grade hard and his class is not boring. Whatever anyone else may say I think he's a great professor.
Professor Deluna is very nice. He brings up a lot of interesting topics in his lectures. He really loves what he teaches and sometimes shows funny videos to the class. When you are struggling in anything, he'll help out. He always finishes class early to give students time to complete a very easy quiz. Take notes so you can get a perfect score.
Professor Deluna's class is fairly easy granted that's as long as you do the reading and follow along in the lectures but that's not hard because the reading is never too much and his lectures are really good and they show his passion for history. He also throws in a nit of humor during lectures. Overall he is a great professor and I recommend him.
He is really a good professor. You do have to show up to class because he almost 99% does a lecture quiz and you most definitely need them and they would help you a lot with keeping up your grades I missed one but still managed to get a B.
Professor Deluna is a funny yet invested professor. It is easy to see he really enjoys his job and has a true passion for what he teaches. The tests and quizzes are a bit on the difficult side but if you read and attend class you should be fine. Taking notes is a must because everything he lectures is on the quizzes/tests. I LOVED taking his class.
Professor DeLuna is an amazing teacher. He is very understanding and tries to makes his classes interesting. I took 2 of his classes at the same time and he teaches them all the same way. If you miss a deadline he is willing to work with you.
The professor is gr8 Eye Candy even on a Zoom call, that man is still handsome. Now, I have taken this class twice with a dinosaur who enjoyed reading from the text. However, Mr. Deluna uses various forms of methods like video clips, articles, current events, he makes it relatable. I am not a fan of History, but he taught the class pretty well.
Although Deluna was super chill and handsome, he was also very boring. Tests were so long with limited time because they were taken during class. Study guides were pretty much all the readings from each chapter which was so hectic. Sometimes he would put us in groups and we would have to share our answers with everyone. We only had one presentation
I have always hated history classes but the lectures were actually interesting and easy to follow along and take notes. I rarely did any readings and received a B in the class. There were quite a few lecture quizzes but they were very very easy if you paid attention. I highly recommend!
I really enjoyed his class and I took him as many times as I could because I am a history major and he's low-key cute but in all seriousness just make sure to take good notes do ALL the readings on time by exams and quizzes and you'll be fine
Great teacher and class class as well. Only thing you need to do read, study, and pay attention to pass the class which should not be difficult at all.
If cheesy dad jokes and very descriptive explanations are what you're looking for look no further! Repetitive explanations, use of images, videos, and great looks. This was my first semester having this professor and I would definitely recommend him.
One of the best history professors, honestly, i would highly recommend taking his class. He's caring and makes history fun.
Hes one of the coolest professors I know. He is a lakers fan too which makes it even better. He is a cool guy and knows how to keep the class alive.
Daniel Delegend is the best teacher you can get, super chill and calm guy and loves the Lakers as much as I do. He actually gives homework that we go talk about in class unlike the other teachers who give you homework that have nothing to do with what they taught aka MATH
If you are beginning in college or just need to get your History 101 class done for your degree, I highly recommend you take Deluna, easygoing teacher and great at lecturing his class. All you gotta do is study and attend class and youll pass on god.
Professor DeLuna is great, he is always there for those who are stugguling. He joins you zoom for a better understanding, and does greta lectures.
I took him in spring 2021 he is a great teacher. Gives good feedback and helps you if you have a question. He is not that tough grader.
To be honest I had never been interested in history classes. But Professor Deluna made me see history in a different perspective, he is very smart and and the way he teaches is incredible. I took two different history courses with professor Deluna, and I enjoyed them.
I highly recommend taking professor Deluna. He is funny and really care about students. He makes history MUCH MORE interesting and meaningful. Although he has a lot of in-class activities so make sure you don't skip any class. A lot of readings too but this is history class so yeah reading is mandatory. Not a lot of writing. Exams are MCQ. love it
Great teacher! Hes really nice and genuine. He definitely loves history, he makes lectures interesting not boring at all. He cares about hes students and makes you feel comfortable in class. Definitely recommend him as a history teacher. Im glad I took his class I learned a lot. Pay attention to lectures so you do good in the exams!
Professor Deluna Is awesome! Took one of his history classes fall 2021. His lectures are entertaining as well as his way of teaching. Just make sure to take notes, pay attention to his lectures and read the textbook! If you do those three things youll easily pass his class :)
Definitely would recommend anyone to take this course. Professor Deluna has a way with teaching in which makes it all much more interesting. From the lectures, discussions, and readings, it has all been fun to learn. Makes you view history in a whole new way. I'm quite the history bluff and Deluna's class has only intrigued me to want to take more!
Professor Deluna is a great teacher! He makes sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions, and he gives excellent lectures. His class is always engaging, and I enjoyed learning history in his classroom. You can tell how passionate he is about his job which makes you want to know more. I highly recommend him!
By far one of the best professors I have ever come across. I took his Hist 101 class back in the fall of 2020 and now Hist 120 in spring 22' and I can honestly say he really knows how to teach his class. He teaches in a way that is engaging and entertaining for his students. 10/10 experience
Professor Deluna has been my favorite professor ever. I took HIST 101 with him and I didn't regret it at all! For this class, he has presentations that have a few words so you have to make sure you take notes on what he says too. There are 4 tests and a final. Tests are heavy on class lectures, readings, class videos, and class assignments.
Professor Deluna has inspired me to love history. I never thought it would be my favorite subject but he surprised me with the anecdotes and lessons to be learned from our past.
Very good professor. As long as you read the assigned textbook chapters and study, you should be able to pass.
It is very crucial to read the textbook pages he assigns on the syllabus and get into the habit of taking good notes for his class. It would be very helpful to get a notebook for his class and use it for lecture notes and textbook notes. He gives extra credit opportunities and is very understanding!
Deluna is a good professor he knows what he's teaching very well. Very enthusiastic about US history. Although he does call out students and expects good feeback. Upon reading passages, he chooses students randomly and asks them to explain what we read. Besides that the workload isnt too much. Some writing assignments, quiz's, and presentations.
He has an awesome class attuite, is funny, and is willing to listen to any problems you might have with the class. It feels like he really wants everyone to do good and actually learn what he is teaching. If you want a good grade then your gonna to have to put in some effort, especially with the textbook/reading. Test are about 50/50 class/book.
He is kinda heavy on the participation but if you don't frozen when he calls your name, you will be ok. He helps you out a lot with softballs, but sometimes people still miss it LOL Overall, great professor I would recommend him to anyone and take him again
You have to show up to do well because a lot of the test is on the lectures. You also don't have to buy a textbook so that is a plus but he expects you to read it because he has reading quizzes. He is funny and a nice guy if you have a problem so I would say don't be afraid to talk to him. Good luck =))
He does take attendance but he won't embarass you if you miss. i think it's just to make sure if you're going. I passed the class but I had to try - it was actually one of my harder classes this semester because of how much he expects you to read. i ended going to his office hours and he's actually really nice and helped me understand the book.
Deluna is chill and makes class very dynamic, so time goes by fast. Pay attention to everything he says because he puts small details on tests (not exact dates, remember names!!). He is VERY specific to what he wants in projects, my grade went down because of it and I'm still upset lol. Textbook is provided, make sure to read it.
Took this class during intersession so it moved at a very fast pace. He does "practice test" activities that help you get an idea of what will be on the test. He makes you feel comfortable with asking questions and even takes time to make sure everyone understands the lectures. Overall, I definitely would take his class again.
I took this class during intercession so it was fast-paced but I enjoyed it. The class is both lecture-heavy and textbook-heavy so it is very important to stay caught up with the class and attend. If you have to miss a class he will still help out as much as he could. Overall he is willing to help out 24/7 and is funny.
I'm unsure how anyone has rated this professor anything less than at the very least a 4. This professor is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He puts passion into his teachings. Takes time for his students. There is a lot of reading, but this is college. Get over it. I took his 4 week super accelerated class. Hard but not impossible.
Mr. Deluna presents the material in a comical, yet informative way. He's also easygoing so don't be afraid to talk to him. There were 4 exams (including the final), 3 reading quizzes, and a creative project. It was one of my more challenging classes, but I greatly enjoyed it. Be sure to take good notes from the textbook and lectures!
He says the attendance doesn't count but I think it actually does. He takes roll and notices if people come in late but doesn't tell you. Overall, not bad I just wouldn't count on an easy grade here. He makes you read and it seems like he makes his own tests based of lecture.
this was my second time taking this professor and he was actually better the second time around. it was prolly my fault the first time, but he is pretty tough because the reading is INSANE! it's like he doesn't understand that you have a life and work and other classes :) that having been said he's actually nice and helps you but you have to ask.
He tried to do other things besides lectures but there are SOOOOO MANY LECTURES! he tries to be funny and show videos but history is boring so it still kinda sucks haha either way, it's probab;y better than what another teacher would do so i say take his class lol
i liked that he didn't always just talk about the subject he showed videos and played songs. his lectures are boring but he thinks he's funny and he's actually the funniest professor i've ever had - when i was awake. there are group projects so unfortunately you can't just sit there lol you have to do something because he grades you he's a good guy
I feel like there's a lot of writing in this class but it's not a writing class! I will say this: his lectures are pretty organized and they have a way of making sense so that's good because I have always hated history and he makes it sorta fun. He's nice if you talk to him after class but he's sometimes in a rush
There are too many assignments in this course. I fell behind and I only missed a couple. There is also a crap ton of reading and it's impossible to get it done. There are times where he gives extra credit but its not much. You have to attend every class and get there on time
I feel like he barely uses the book but he scares you into thinking hes gonna. I actually had to emergency withdrawal from the class but he was suer understanding and offer to hel0
I actually talked to this professor in office hours outside of class and he's very understanding. My family life is all over the place and he was able to listen and give advice. I get that not everybody needs that but it's nice to know. he's funny and his lecture notes matter a lot so don't take that lightly. I would probably take him again
You really have to pay attention because it seems like little details matter. This class is not easy but i feel like I learned alot. History is not my strong suit but he kind of made it fun. His videos are helpful but you have to participate in everything. Nice guy
It's super easy to figure out, he says things a bunch of times (add nausea) but you will get the picture pretty quickly. He likes Marvel movies so he tries to make references to that to relate to students which is embarrassing. Funny guy
Attendance matters so don't skip if you can. I had a history professor in high school that reminded me of him but his class was easier. I think a lot of people took his class because they couldn't find anything else or had work. It was a night class so people seemed to drop like flies. I would take him again for a day class.
His comments really helped me make the papers better and I actually got better at figuring out what he wanted. A lot of people failed but that's on them because I saw those same people on their phones and showing up late as f. A lot of people complained but they barely came to class so you know.
It seems like its all riding on the tests! If you do good, you're getting an "A" if you do bad then there's no hope!
I would take this guy again in a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, he's hilarious! It's like going to a comedy show or whatever. Second, he makes it easy to understand because he compares it to what he have now. I am not a history buff but he made me like it. Now I want to travel and see what he's talking about. He does reviews for tests so easy
I am one of those people who does not like history but he made it relevant. I didn't realize people are still arguing over the same stupid stuff and being immature about it but they are. Now when I go back to the south I can see what they're talking about. I'm woke haha
This class is fun if you don't take it too seriously. He does a lot of off topic stuff but you still get graded on it. The book is super boring so don't be excited about that. He's a the nicest professor I've had at this school and that's saying a lot.
He talks really fast but you actually can ask questions and he won't bite your head off. He kind of gets off topic but it's at least funny or interesting. He likes to talk about his kids but nobody cares LOL
Ok so tbh I took him because a friend told me he liked his class. This was a few years ago. I didn't know how much work it was gonna be because I thought he liked it because it was easy. it wasn't exaclty hard, but it wasn't the easiest class I've taken. He gets there right on time and he expects you to be ready to go. VERY UNDERSTANDING though
Honestly. even tho I did not pass I want people to know that this professor is pretty good. i was able to fully commit and take it seriously but if I had I think I could easily pass he's not that hard. Just take good notes or borrow them from somebody and you'll be fine
He is good as long as you do the work. I did not do well on the first two tests but was able to climb back with my papers in class. He gives a study guide for the tests but it seems like a lot. I did not read the book but probably would have done better with it
He tells the funniest stories about his kids and his wife. He makes it seem like he doesn't like them but I think he's joking (?). You have to really pay attention and take good notes or good luck cuz you're lost. I had to get help from two other people but I actually did good on the tests and his assignments are easy if you like talking.
History is my favorite subject so this guy was kind of easy. I already knew all the stuff and just had to look back at my notes from high school. He did teach me one new thing about black culture but that's about it. Overall, easy.
I think people leave bad reviews because they are bitter they did not get a good grade or about his rules. He doesn't allow cell phones and people can't seem to live without their precious devices. But if you can tear yourself away for one single second he's actually a level headed guy to listen to. He's not biased or assumes you're a racist.
I actaully could have gotten an A but I missed a couple of classes. He expects you to attend every class but that's just not realistic. In his defense, he did try to help me but my work kept scheduling me during his office hours. I would still recommend him though because I think he has a good way of explaining things especially how they are now.
DELUNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA oh my god this guy is so funny it's amazing. Some people did not laugh at his jokes but I think they're trying not to. Too cool for school. But yea, I say take the guy and you will not be sorry you will not find a better professor
Great if you are hoping to learn a f-ton about history, not great if you are just taking this for your requirements and don't really care. Needless to say it was not easy but I did pass and that's more than I can say for some other classes I've taken at other schools.
EASIEST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN. This guy tries to trick you but all you have to do is attend the reviews and it's fine. He even gives a study guide, it's like c'mon/
Not sure why anybody would ever give this guy a bad review unless they're under a rock. He's actually kind of youngish, he's funny, and he dresses like he cares. Maybe if people took more than one class they would see there is a difference. I would take him for every class if I could but I think he only teaches history. Just don't sleep
How could anybody give this guy a bad review he's so nice. I didn't even go to all the classes I missed like four and he wasn't mad. He even wrote me a letter of rec for my fire department class and I can't believe he took the time. He remembered my name and even asked me how it was going I was very surprised
I have taken every single one of his classes and it keeps getting easier! Don't know why more people don't take this guy probably because they are lazy but it's not even that hard. You do have to get the textbook and you do have to attend class but isn't that all of them? Agh, who knows?
This class is no easier or harder than any other college course. It just it what it is. Either take it or don't take it. He doesn't teach online so you have to go in person. But you also have to have a laptop because he has online requirements wtf?
I learned more from this guy in 10 weeks than I ever did in high school. He shows a lot of videos but they're from today but it has to do with back in the day. he brings up arguments and gets us to talk about them like guns and he grades you on your discussions. for class speeches, he grades you on how much you talk so talk a lot and do research
AMAZING Prof!! He's a funny guy. Lectures are fun/engaging and are mixed with vids so you never dread going to class. His exams are def LONG but you CAN still pass!! His syllabus seems intimidating but he is very flexible/understanding and helps you when asked. Not too heavy of a work load but lots of reading when it comes to exams/quizzes.
Professor Deluna is an absolutely hilarious person. However, I found his assignments and exams to be exceptionally difficult. The readings are pretty long and boring, and the exams are almost ALL about the textbook. His classes are fun, but I wouldn't recommend taking his class unless you're a good reader.
He's a pretty funny guy. You are DEFINTELY going to have to read the textbook for the exams. I honestly can't even remember if there was normal homework at all. You are also going to have to take a lot of notes and actually study. He is a history professor, after all.
It might seem like a nightmare for someone with social anxiety, but I actually enjoyed attending this class despite the frequent call-ons and presentations. DO NOT BE SCARED BY THIS! Deluna is very kind and understanding, which makes the experience worthwhile. Lots of reading, but I managed without doing all of it. Take his class, you learn a lot.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Pay attention to the lectures, do the readings and you'll be fine!
This professor is amazing! I am 13 years old, and I took this class as my very first college class. I was extremely surprised by how boisterous and hilarious Professor Deluna is! He was very nice and very talkative, and made every day both entertaining and engaging. He also provided plenty of opportunities for extra credit to help your grade.
Good professor I like him it's really cool I understand.
