I loved taking cognitive from Dan. I was a bit nervous about taking cognitive but he made the material easy to understand. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to do well. His lectures are fun and it was the most interactive class I have ever attended. If you read the textbook you will do very well on his tests. 10/10!

He was a great prof this semester! Our first midterm wasn't the best and he listened to our concerns and immediately made it better. He really gets us and wants to see us students succeed!

I believe this was Dans first time teaching and he was absolutely amazing! He listens to student feedback and makes lecture material fairly easy to understand. He comes up with fun examples and facilitates a lot of class interaction. Genuinely cares about his students and is always giving advice regarding grad school. Great guy overall

Dan is an amazing professor. It was his first time teaching at MRU and they couldn't have done a better job finding the perfect prof. Dan made this class fun and something to look forward to. I loved research class with Dr. Devoe. He was very practical in his approach to research, most classes we did some practical in class assignments to help us understand the content more. He had us do 3 training certificates that can go our resumes, which made me super happy. He was busy this semester but always made time for me! Amazing guy!

Dan is the best prof I have ever had at MRU! He teaches research from an EDI perspective which really resonated with me, as I come from marginalized community. He was very clear with grading and he would drop LOTS of helpful hints in class on how to do well on essay questions for the exams, and he made time to answers all my questions. Amazing guy!

Dan's new, but very knowledgeable in his field & comes with a lot of real-life examples. Easy-going, approachable, gives hints (so don't skip class) & responds to e-mails. Some of the long-answer questions on tests were a little hit or miss. I had him both online & in-person - online was smooth. Def recommend, great overall.

I really enjoyed research methods with Dan! He was very responsive to emails and met with me several times to go over concepts I was having a hard time with. He brings in a lot of personal experience with research which helped keep the class very interesting. The exams were not too hard and his assignments were very practical and clear.

Dan is the BEST! My fav class this semester for sure.

He makes a potentially boring class a really interesting class and brings in a lot of field experience. Very easy going guy. Hopefully this guy ends up teaching more courses at MRU.

Dan is AMAZING. Super accommodating, 100% cares for his students. The textbook is $$$ but the exams are closely based off it so use it religiously and you'll do well. Dan really values participation and takes any feedback he gets and uses it to improve his future lectures/classes. I definitely recommend taking his class, he made cog super fun.

This is my 4th year and without a doubt was my favourite class I have taken so far. Lectures are funny and explanations make the material easier to understand. Make sure to read the textbook and attend lectures as he gives lots of hints for exam questions. He took the time to meet with me to discuss career planning which was super helpful.

Dr. Devoe was absolutely an amazing professor, and I enjoyed this course. He made the course easy to understand and gave lots of hints in class about questions that were on his exams. You will need the textbook to do well in this course. Thanks for making cog psychology fun to study!

While attendance wasn't mandatory, hints are given for exams. This is my 2nd class with Dan and I'd still highly recommend him! Likes to involve the class, lectures were as interesting as they could be, fair/flexible with due dates, and sends out reminders. You'd not go wrong with having him as your prof.

I took cognitive psych last year - it was online but he made everyone participate, which made it very engaging. tests were super hard - basically all application, but he was helpful, listened to student input and adjusted accordingly - genuinely wanted to help everyone do their best. would definitely take a class with Dr. Devoe again :)

Honestly love Dr. Dan, he made class so fun which is hard in an online environment. He is clearly really passionate about what he teaches/researches

He is not only super nice and funny but he also gives very clear instructions. He makes sure you are tested on information that is actually covered in class and gives really almost step by step assignments that make it easy to get a good grade. He makes the lectures interesting, engaging and fun making it easier to remember lecture content.

Dan is an amazing professor, he is fair, flexible and really goes out of his way to engage students. Lectures tend to be high energy, hilarious and contain lot's of interesting anecdotes. If you are an introvert you may find his energy a bit much but this professor has a huge heart and really cares about his students!

Dr. Devoe is a super caring dude. He puts a lot into his lectures and when I was struggling he met with me to give me tips on how to do better. I really felt like he wanted me to succeed in life. Make sure to read the textbook and attend lectures as lots of hints are given. I really hope I get the chance to take another class from him.

Dr. Devoe is an extremely genuine and down to earth person. I found he explained things really well, he is like the human version of google for all things psychology. Definitely the most accommodating prof I have ever met. Responded to all my emails and you can tell this guy loves teaching. Go to his lectures and you will do great.

Textbook cost a lot of money but it is worth it to do well in the course. Really enjoyed the class with Daniel, he also responded to all my emails super fast.

this is my first year and the first semester of uni and Dan is a really good professor. don't hesitate to take his class, you're guaranteed you'll do really well as he explains the concepts in great detail so you won't be confused. Textbook is needed as the lectures are from textbook, don't skip it.

Amazing prof. Dan is extremely understanding and caring. His lectures are interesting and engaging, and always keeps in mind that students have other assignments (he loves giving extensions). He also loves giving hints for future exams. He reason our class had around a 75% average compared to other classes with 50%-failing the second midterm.

Dan was a great prof. He was fair and super willing to help us out. He was super thorough in his lectures and gave great examples of the concepts. He was also always very real and gave us some great advice on getting through uni/post-grad. I loved his class, taking another from him next semester!

Dan is a legend. For REAL. He is an awesome prof, pleeeeease take him if you get the opportunity. He is kind and so understanding and truly the best prof I have ever had. He's also a super funny guy and makes lectures super engaging! I found the content a little tricky but this was nothing to do with Dr. Devoe. My boy loves handing out extensions!

One of the best profs of my 4 years at MRU. Lectures are organized, clear, and concise with great use of examples for better understanding of material. Respectful, funny, caring, easy communication. Exams are application based, marks will reflect attendance and effort to study material. Multiple hints given for exams throughout lectures.

Devoe is an actual gem of a professor! He genuinely cares every student and seems like he loves his job. He always gives clear outlines for what is going to be exams and papers and is willing to help. He personally checked on all of us during finals to see if we were doing okay, there's not many professors that go out of their way to do so.

Dan is an excellent professor. He can come off a bit tough at times when talking about expectations of students in his class and in the discipline of Psychology in general, but he's very caring and very flexible. Tests were easier than he made them seem, same with assignments. Lots of coursework but that's just 1103, not Dan personally.

Best prof I have had so far. Super caring and helpful. He made me fall in love with psych. Loved his teaching style, he gave lots of great examples. Very enthusiastic about psych and helping students reach their goals. Friendly, funny, relaxed, and just overall awesome. Reasonable marker. The textbook fully depends on you - I didn't use it.

He is an amazing professor. If you every get the chance to be in his class TAKE IT! Everyone loves him and his classes fill up super fast. Lectures were super engaging and fun; he wants you to really grasp the material. He cares for his students and wants to see them succeed.

I found his class to be the most practical class I have taken so far. All the assignments are geared towards building up your resume :) I felt very supported by him and really enjoyed his lectures. Textbook is free (make sure you read it) and software is free, which is a huge plus.

I was really struggling this semester because of personal issues and majorly fell behind in his class. He reached out to me and helped me get back on my feet. Dan was so supportive the entire time and helped me get through a very difficult time in my life and for that I am extremely thankful.

Dan is my favourite professor. He cares about his students and adjusts the workload for his students' mental health. He is hilarious and very real and despite research methods having very boring material, Dan made lectures entertaining and enjoyable. His tests and assignments were more than fair (even allowed cheat sheets on midterm and final).

Loved his class, I never realized how important memory was! He is very caring, organized, and respectfully. Lots of in class demonstrations that support your learning. I felt like Dan really wanted us to learn and he went out of his way to make it happen. Textbook cost money, make sure you read it. 100% would take any class from Dan.

Dan really really cares about his students success, and does what he can to make classes entertaining. He did go through lots of content very quickly and I think sometimes assumed that we knew more than we did, but overall a funny and respectable prof. We were able to add lots of the work to our resume and he sets us up for success in the future.

Dan's a great prof. he's funny and chill. the assignments are easy marks and he isn't a hard marker. he told us to take care of ourselves during reading break which was really sweet. didn't know who billie eilish was when someone brought her up and it was hilarious.

Dan is an absolutely incredible professor and such a sweet person; you can feel how much he cares about his students' success and wellbeing. His lectures are engaging with a mix of slides, videos, and demonstrations that make it so that you really understand the material. Dan is THE prof to take for psych, so glad I got to be in his class!

Best prof ever. Super willing to give extensions as he cares about his students and understands them. He wants everybody to succeed. Great lectures, super engaging and interesting. Midterms and the final will have info that was only available in class so make sure to go. He gives cheat sheets which is a huge plus, not that you need them, easy tests

Dan's research class is really interesting and he seems to really care about our opinions as students. He makes a really long class easy to attend. He made the whole course free, including the textbook, which I am so thankful for.

This is the 3rd class I have taken from Dan and I very much enjoy all his classes. His expectations are much higher for research, you have to read the textbook before class to stay on top of things! He provides lots of examples from his own research which helps a lot. Tutorials help you get official certification and round out your resumes.

Very big group project, take at 2213 the same time as Stats II and both classes become somewhat easier. Dan is the best professor I've ever taken a class with.

Professor Devoe is a good instructor who cares about his student's success. He was available to answer questions and concerns after lectures and quickly responded to emails. The only downside was that the grades took a while for the first midterm. However, the rest of the tests were all very quick to be graded. I would take a class with him again.

Very interesting class with lots of demonstrations. Lots of papers though so be prepared to write! Exams and quizzes were pretty easy.

Made psychology fun and interesting. Hard class though as there are a lot of mini assignments and a micro-internship, but that is the case for all of the intro classes and not his fault.

This was a great class but had a lot of work, especially writing papers. However, he walks you through all the steps and is always there to help. He is very caring and helped me out when I was not able to make some deadlines due to a death in the family which I really appreciated.

We did lots of cool demonstrations in this class, he even took a tub of ice water into class to show the impact of coldness on your stress levels. He uses lots of mnemonic devices and such to help you remember things. Quizzes online were very straightforward.

I enjoyed this class, it covers a lot of material though so you have to stay on top of all your studying! I would recommend making sure you read the textbook, go to class. One nice thing about Dan is he usually gives you a cheat sheet for the exams which helps a lot.

I took cog online with Dan in the Spring. It was a nice light course for the Spring and helped boost my GPA. He is a very genuine person and really cares about his students doing well.

This was a great class. I come from a sociology background and I found having that background really helped me understand the concepts in psych. The textbook cost a ton of money but is worth it for studying for the exams.

This class was online and we had lots of group discussions in the chat. I found it hard to participate in all the activities because I had to go to class in a busy coffee shop. Overall great class

Lots of interesting research covering relevant topics on how to focus and lots on memory which I did not know. Make sure to use the Cengage trial period for the labs because if not you end up spending tons of money on it.

I had to drop out of this class because of a death in the family but from the 1/2 a semester I took it was a very good class. He has a lot of energy so I don't recommend taking him first thing in the morning if you are not a morning person!

This was a VERY hard class. There was a lot a papers. However, he is an easy marker and gives great feedback. In the end I learned a lot of things about how to do research right and I think this will help me with my honours project in my 4th year. Lectures were very well organized and he taught in a very respectful manner.

Dan is a very good professor. He makes things easy to follow despite the amount of material we had in that class. He also gave us a cheat sheet for the first midterm. Even though he had a bad car accident, he still taught us through Google Meet despite how bad he felt physically. He also responds to emails right away and wants everyone to succeed.

An easy gpa booster!! I took this class during spring & it was super easy! No assignments; just quizzes & 3 exams. No time limits for tests & also no textbook :) Dan makes the class engaging. There are participation marks which you can get by attending & participating in class, or read the slides and post on the discussion board. Dan is a gem!

Don't listen to the other people that final was NOT horrific it was easy if u just went to class and actually studied for the final. Super good lectures he makes them engaging in class and interesting. All the assignments and quizzes were super easy grade boosters. He's super funny and gave multiple chances for u to make up assignments or midterms

Whoever is complaining about the final was probably one of those people that left early and failed because they ditched class all semester lol. Dan is the best ever! He's super kind, understanding, accommodating, and insanely funny. Every other prof that taught this course is super tough, but Dan is amazing. 100% would take again. Best prof ever!!
