Makes the class about as good as it could be.
he is completely unorganized, he revised the syllabus 3 times throughout the semester. who does that? he doesnt know what hes doing and completely forgets is a freaking one unit class! he thinks hes funny and its just annoying. hes anal with his time scheduling, he freaks out because your 3 mins behind schedule! oh my! hes just ridiculous.
Yikes! A lot of work for a one unit class! Very particular about the time and counts it to the second. It's Dilbert in person...
Too much work for one unit class. Don't reccommend
Very meticulous. Every class meeting is packed with information. Has readings every week, 2 short papers, and a cumulative final on the concepts. 40% of grade is participating in every class and takes attendance 4 times randomly. Know how to apply concepts & readings for the final. More time needed than usual for a one unit class, but worth it.
Conscientious and prompt. Answers EMail right away with helpful response. Very available to students. Attendance and participation are important. Class is not easy, and maybe too much work for one unit, but he did a good job with the time available. Not recommended for students who procrastinate or think that having to go to class is an imposition.
way too much work for 1 unit class. you have to spend as much as time you spend for a 3 unit class to catch up with materials. he makes a big deal of 1 unit class. 2 short, and tough papers. 1 comprehensive final that is not really hard. attendence and participation in class is a must. take him only if noone else teaches that class.
attendance/participation is 40%, 2 application papers worth 30%, and a final worth 30%. I had a B+ going into the final and got a C- in the class. the final is TOUGH - so prepare for it. It's DEFINITELY a lot of work for a 1 unit class. Do the class and ECR readings to keep up with him. He's a tough grader!
Lots of work for 1 unit, felt like a 3 unit class. Class was never boring, he makes sure concepts are clear. Always available to students. Papers are hard, final is do-able. Looking for an easy grade... take someone else. Looking to not be bored in class... take him.
If you want learn take Dan and be ready to do what it takes. Should be a 3 unit class because of the work one has to do. He know his stuff! Do NOT let your first impression of him turn you off, he will grow on you and is an outstanding teacher. Hard greader and the final is very tricky. Not a class to take lightly with this teacher. Atten. a MUST!
WAAAYYYY too much work for a 1 unit class. Should be worth more units. Went into the final with an A- left with a C. Very tricky and an extremely hard grader. If you have other options, use them.
Excellent professor... Best teacher ever in San Diego State.. Very strict when it coomes to attendance.. he is a funny guy... organized.. will answer your email immediately.. very helpful.. The class itself was hard, but I have learned a lot.. Lots of readings.. You must learn how to apply concepts..
the five week class was intense but doable. attendance was mandatory because it was such a short term and was 40% of the grade. he's not that hard of a grader and he's pretty funny. he responds quickly to emails and is very helpful. the final wasn't bad and the assignments are easy.
As of how he taught this past spring, she only had the final exam, which sucked cuz that is wat ur grade mostly counts off as. Like 3 assignments, which i did not like and which i thought were not tooooo easy. and lectures for him is based on time, he needs to be on time as his plans are, and if he falls behind he tries to talk faster and faster. p
I loved Eaton- He is so intelligent/really wants his students to succeed. This class is simple- study, do the reading: Get an A or B EASILY! Test is well-written, a little tricky but doable. I got an A- in the end. There was a bit of reading/a lot of blackboard material but again, do-able! i say take him, put the time in and you'll see results
A lot of reading and comprehension for a 1 unit class. Tests are very challenging. You better have a very good grasp of all theoretical concepts before the test. All test questions are situations that you must apply theories that you have learned. Never thought a 1 unit class would be my hardest of the semester.
The readings on the reserve are much more weighted if we compare the # of questions coming from the book, and from these. DO NOT watch the videos the night before the exam because the server can go down and then you’re screwed. Download the new realplayer and record the videos instead, watch them over and over during your free time.
I think he might be on crack when he teaches. Pretty interesting stories and is a funny character. He makes you participate and yells at you if you don't talk, read, or walk fast enough in his skits. Also, he sometimes forgets to breathe between sentences. Test are predictable from book but you do have to study and have the book.
WOW!!!!! What a character this guy is!! I was laughing the entire time in class!!! Sometimes with him, but mostly at him.. He's an incredible teacher who makes you think outside of the box. The final is VERY challenging, tests are straight forward but you have to read and watch the videos.
He's so crazy. Only one of his kind. He is some what spasmatic, but cool. Good lecturer. He knows his stuff, but moves very fast. There's a lot to remember, but its not really difficult. Let him review your 1st paper or you will be sorry.
This guy is indeed a character but I loved it. Kept the class interesting! Hes the guy from the video notes and is very quick with grading and ready to help. Just seems happy about life and in a great mood always. Will be taking him again this semester because he just captures the classes attention. Do take!
This guy is crazy but he is actually a pretty good teacher who loves the suject. If you have to take this class take Eaton.
do take him! he's funny and straightforward. it's too bad that his voice is weird and you have to watch his video. he also offered closed captioning for those who can't understand his voice in video (i swear i'm not making this thing up) downloadable via blackboard. very helpful!
Avoid if you possibly can. I made the mistake of taking him. He has stupid rules on participation (if you speak in class prior to him saying it counts, he won't count it and you'll miss 3-6% of the points for the semester) and he makes you write a paper that the other B A300 professors don't. Prof. Eaton also grades quite harshly.
A fellow business student told me NOT to take this professor a year ago when I was waiting to go into upper division classes. I wish I had listened. Choose someone else!
Avoid at all costs. Take anyone else instead. If he doesn't like you, he'll roll his eyes when answering your questions. Being in his class was very awkward and embarrassing for me.
Thoroughly enjoyed the class. He is odd and self-promoting, but he is a great professor. Have to go to class to get the class participation credit, but he makes the class fun and beneficial. Grades fairly. The class is a lot of work and the final is tough. Can't vouch for his 300 class, but his 460 class was the best I've taken at SDSU.
Hes definitely out there. He only requires that u attend class 2 times out of the semester and he grades based on how much u participate during class. He is NOT CLEAR at all on what he wants.
He thinks he's God because he has a PhD and will treat you like trash if you question his absurd policies. Don't sign up for any class taught by this clown unless you absolutely have to.
would take again. Distance class so must attend 3 times. read your book, watch videos a few times, participate in class, write essay it counts, but not mandatory. don't save study for last minute. fun guy, class time goes very fast. knows his stuff, great content. it takes about an hour to realize he is chill.
Very good professor keeps you on your toes, if you cannot handle him you may not be cut out for business
Hard teacher, must attend all classes. Will not curve at all. What you get on your grades is what you get as your grade. Strict to his policies. Class meets 3 times, you must attend all. First to exams are easy, final is graduate level.
Dan is the man! You don't have to go to class, but participation points can help you out if you don't do well on the paper or exams. I learned a lot from this class and actually kept the book, even though they were buying back. You have to do the reading, but the key is to understand the outcomes of the cases in class. GREAT CLASS! Kept us laughing
Don't take him. He's aggressive, grades way too hard considering the class is one unit and mandatory. Enjoys his power way too much. And the lectures, though few, are painful to sit through. Some people think he is funny. I did not. Class is more like sunday school than education, but what choice do you have?
This is a professor who is definitely willing to humiliate a student in front of the whole class just to get a laugh. He runs the class like he would rather be doing standup. In his 4-hour classes, he doesn't give breaks. Expect to get humiliated and bowled over if you take this class.
The guy does not appreciate SDSU students, he brags about being a Harward grad, he should not be teaching at San Diego State. He's the kind that acts fun and cool in front of the whole crowd but when you talk to him in person he is extremely unfriendly and rude! does like to humiliate and make offensive jokes. Painful voice to listen. DONT TAKE HIM
We need to unite to get this guy out of the College of Bus. Administration. Teaches Ethics but has no Ethics himself. Makes offensive jokes, mocks students, has power crave. HE HE WILL HURT YOUR grade if he doesn't like you. Makes you write a NARRATIVE story paper no one ever gets an A on it. He cancels office hours and is extremely UNHELPFUL. AVOI
I disagree with the commenter below. I received an A on the narrative essay... however this class is challenging! I've been on the dean's list past few semesters and struggled with this class. Ended with C+. Dan is a great professor, he REALLY REALLY cares about the material. Funny guy too, he'll make fun of you and other kids. HE IS VERY PUNCTUAL.
The class only meets twice. The videos can get boring but you need them for the tests which are application questions. Just read, watch the videos, & study the slides your fine. there's also a 350 word paper connecting concepts to a your choice of 3 scenario given its also super easy. the class is entertaining for what it is
A lot of work for a one unit class. Book is very hard to comprehend. The reading is a must, the videos provided is a must, attendance is a must. He is hilarious and nice! When he asks you a questions make sure you answer it clearly, if not you are done for!
Super annoying voice. Read the transcripts instead of watching the videos cuz his voice will annoy the heck out of anyone...
This class is alright. Not extremely hard but not easy. Just read the assigned pages from the textbook and listen to the videos and you will do fine. Eaton is a smart dude and made the class sessions go by pretty fast.
I worked to hard for a B-. Way to hard. I was at a 79 and need one point to get a B and he wouldn't do it.
Professor Eaton was a great teacher. He was extremely enthusiastic about the subject and knows a lot. His lectures were interesting and the skits were not bad at all. This class is not easy though. It requires a lot of reading and the final is very difficult. Take it during the summer so it does not get in the way of your other classes.
AVOID THIS PROF AT ALL COSTS. He likes to humiliate students and make you feel bad, he's arrogant and rude. The class consist in you watching him READING transcripts in a video lecture. He uses unnecessarily sophisticated vocabulary even for an English major student. Take Gwin or Whoever else you can, or wait another semester but DONT TAKE THIS Guy
Great Prof!!
I almost didn't take him because the reviews made him sound horrible. He's awesome! He's really fun and he cares about what he teaches. There are skits in the class and he reads from plays. You can tell he's into theatre a lil bit. Be prepared to learn a decent amount, even if it is just a 1 unit class. 2 tests and a Final. Wish it was a 3unitclass
Professor Eaton really enjoys this stuff and he makes it interesting. It's not easy, and he's kinda out there, but I think he did a great job. Also, he'll know everyone's name by the end of the first day.
Great teacher. If you have to sit through a class it might as well be with this goofball. The work load is not very much considering how short the class is. I did all the readings and videos two days before the class and got A's. No need to take notes, just read the syllabus and come to class prepared. Expectations are very straight forward.
Class is part online/part on campus, and Professor Eaton made in-class sessions fun. Do the readings, watch the lectures, participate in class, read and follow all directions, and you'll do great.
He really cares that you understand. He actively gets students involved. 2 warnings if you come to class with an additude he will call you out. Don't test him on time in any way. Turning in test, quiz, leaving early etc. Work hard and read video transcripts and you will do great. Good luck.
Eaton is a good teacher. The class is a little tough because it's all mostly online, but I still got a B+ in the end. Take the Saturday class, it seriously isn't that bad! You're gonna have to put in some effort though to pass cause the tests are kind of hard and he uses a lot of examples from the book.
Eaton is awesome! You HAVE to show to class if you want participation points. Every class you act out 2 skits pertaining to actual legal cases in CA. 3 quizzes, 1 paper, & 1 cumulative final. Most of his questions come from the reading, but the concepts are what you must understand. I learned a lot this semester and enjoyed his class very much
I need to say that I absolutely had no interest in this class. It was just something I had to take. Most of his readings were long and boring to me. He said my paper outline was good and I ended up getting a 1320 (65%). It makes me feel like I shouldn't even get my hopes up even if I DO STUDY. I would suggest going to office hours so you can pass.
If you like 4 hour lecture, 100+ pages of tiny print ethicslaws, and a quirky professor... This is your guy. Eaton is a very fun and outgoing guy. He makes the whole 4 hours enjoyable and actually makes it go by fast. The only thing is the class itself is not easy by any means. Participation is a must, reading is a MUST, and tests are impossible
He was very unclear and was fairly rude. Looked down on his students.
It is way more work than you would expect in a 1 unit class. He is tough on grading and very hard to understand.
Focus on the vocab and you should be fine on the tests. If you want to put in the extra work, really read the book to get a few more questions right on the test.
Professor have a great character, likes to teach and want you to do well in his class. It is only one credit but you need to work as if it was 4 units or more! You NEED to participate or your chances to pass this class are small! I just finished this class. He elaborate his exams based on recent articles from wsj NY time, so always new exam!
This class is horrible. Makes you cram a semester of material into a few weeks. Have to read hundreds of pages and watch online lectures, take a Saturday morning exam, and then sit in lecture on what you just took on the test! He is a pretty eccentric guy and he counts participation. Don't take the Saturday session, you'll thank me later.
I did not take his class but Professor Eaton taught the second portion of my summer session BA 300. Mr. Eaton is brilliant, enthusiastic, and just quirky enough that the entire class was giggling the whole time. He got a round of applause after a 4 hour lecture. I have NEVER seen a professor get applauded for teaching. That says enough right there.
Here is the thing, it is hard, because it is an 8 weeks class, and the materials are coming at you like a wrecking ball. He is a fun professor that you will not get bored in a almost 4 hours class, but you can't just take the exam and leave, that will deduct 5pt of your participation grade out of 15. 1 essay 350 words 15pt , tough grader though!
He's weird. Sometimes its funny but other times its awkward. The 2 classes went by fast each time because he tried to make it interesting so thats a plus. Participation matters so much. I'm not one to participate but I just raised my hand to say whatever and it counted, lol. Don't be late or disturb the class cause he'll call you out on it.
All other teachers that teach this class is much easier. This professor is a lawyer and wants you to know every concept to the T. Thus creating the tests very hard. Find any other professor that teaches this class.
This was the most professional professor I have ever had. I was inspired by him just because of how accomplished he is. You need to read in order to do well on the quizzes and final. I learned the hard way. His quizzes are hard because you need to get used to how he asks his questions, so take advantage of the online practice quizzes.
Took him this semester on Saturdays. Professor Eaton is very organized, knowledgeable and hilarious! You do have to read the book, if you wanna do well on the tests. Don't go in thinking that it's Ethics, so it's common sense and you'll just ace everything without putting in any work. That's the biggest mistake students make and then regret it.
Class is not the hardest but it is not easy either. Make sure to read well and use the practice exams to better understand the information. There's a decent amount of work for a 1 unit class, but the class is required for many business majors so you have no choice.
Professor Eaton is brilliant. Classes are mandatory but there are only 2 classes. Tests are easy if you read and watch the video lectures. One paper only 2 pages. Professor Eaton is crazy but also very smart at the same time.
Don't let the awful BA300 videos fool you, Eaton is a great lecturer. His lectures are long, but engaging and extremely useful. This was probably the most useful class I've taken at SDSU. Cumulative final, but he offers a very helpful review session outside of class time. Attendance is mandatory in the sense that you need participation points.
Once you get used to his voice (he sounds like a cartoon voice actor) he is actually a solid lecturer. He is very detailed about assignment requirements. In-class exams often pull examples straight from the book, so they are difficult if you rely only on the videos. Just read and go to class and you should be fine.
His actual class (not the videos) are interesting. The tests though, HARD. This class is only one unit but you will definitely have to work for it. Each question on every test is almost a paragraph of a situation. Essay is completely based on his opinion. There are easier professors to take this class with.
I did not know what to expect taking this class. For my lower division Ethics requirement I took an online class and googled all the answers, so I came in with a pretty clean slate. Prof Eaton was among the best presenters of a topic I have seen, and I have seen MANY. He should stop teaching students and start teaching teachers to be more like him.
He is one of the best professors I have ever taken a class with. He explains things clearly and makes the class meetings interesting. Two 4 hour long in class meetings throughout the semester but he keeps students interested in what he is talking about. If you want to learn, take this professor. Not easy if you don't study enough.
The best instructor I have ever had. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and makes a 3 house class go by like its nothing. Keeps entire class engaged throughout lectures. The material is basic. Watch the online videos, pay attention in class, and put in maybe an hours worth of studying for the test and youll earn an A and will learn a lot.
He made a Saturday class very interesting with his enthusiasm and the way he teaches. If you don't like to participate in class discussion don't take this class because it is a mandatory requirement. As long as you read the book, watch the videos, and memorize the terms you should pass no problem.
He reads from a teleprompter from extremly wordy papers, making it extremely hard to follow along. Also, his voice is unbearable. I took this class becasue it was mandatory. One of the worst teachers. They should fire him and higher someone who will teach and Not read directly from a paper word for word.
Not too bad and not too good. Yes, his voice is annoying. He is incredibly rude if you answer a question wrong, and will embarrass people who lobby bad answers, which is compounded by the fact that participation is graded. However, the tests are easy enough if you read the textbook, and he is very enthusiastic about the material.
This class is hard for a one unit but well worth it. You must read the first, second, third and fourth modules before the first class. Every time you meet for class there is an exam. Read the book watch the videos and you'll do fine. Make sure you know your theories well.
Watch all lectures. Read everything assigned. Take notes on all material covered. BE PREPARED BEFORE THE IN-CLASS SESSIONS. Participate early during sessions to get credit or immediately do alternate option after class. Go to review if offered. 1 short, simple essay. Easy class as long as you don't procrastinate and put in enough effort.
Although he is knowledgeable in business ethics and corporate governance, he is rude and quite arrogant at times. He is also an incredibly harsh grader. I would recommend a different professor.
BA300 is a straightforward class and he makes it quite entertaining. The two class meetings are lengthy but he makes them bearable with his interactive approach. He is a very straight forward guy, and will call people out for being disruptive or late and participation is key. As long as you do the reading and study the book you should pass!
The worst professor ever. You only attend three class. If you miss a class or you left a class meeting in between you fail. He acts really weird in class by changing his jacket like 20 times. And Id very rude to a lot of students. He gives you points based on participation and pick people based on his on preferences. You basically cant get an A.
Great lectures from Eaton that keep you interested during class. Need to read all the chapters for exams. No shortcuts with this class. Don't waster your time thinking your going to prep for exams by going to internet for answers. Exams are really comprehensive with convoluted questions. Must know the content of book to answer the Q's.
Took him about a year ago, but forgot to rate. Curve grading means you need to do better than anyone else to get an A and at least your absolute best to not take a hit to the GPA. Funny, smart, but condescending and structures a very nerve wrecking class. Exams at every class, and material is after exam. 4 hour classes. Plus side: Only 3 classes.
I thought he was a character on video, in real life, he is absolutely hilarious. I laughed almost the entire class. He remembered my name early on because I answered a question that apparently no one gets. He finds ways to remember everyone. It's quite amazing. This class is not for the faint of heart. He is really clear on what he expects.
The best class you can take if you want to pursue a career in HR. Participation and attendance mandatory, but he makes it easy to participate. He can be funny depending on your humor. A few quizzes, two tests, and a paper but he curves the class to the highest grade earned. Favorite class I have taken at state in all four years.
Eaton is a great professor for BA 300. I was nervous to take him but I am so glad I did. The class meets 3 times and each class there is an exam followed by a 4 hour lecture. The first two quizzes are all detailed from the book and lecture and the final exam was easy. He held a review session for us and is always available for office hours. AMAZING
he is actually inspiring and an awesome guy. the book matters, he tests on it. class isn't even crazy hard, people who say so are just lazy tbh. its all concepts and pure memorization. good choice for 300. DO NOT MISS THE CLASS classes, make sure you talk for participation and you'll be fine and get an A.
Most valuable class you will take. Prof. Eaton does not make you spend $100+ on a texbook and instead uses an employer handbook, which is much more relatable and useful in real management situations. This is the second course I take with him and would take him again. His sense of humor makes long class go by fast. Definitely recommend!
Not everyone's cup of tea, but He is an awesome professor. BA 300 is a hard class, but Eaton makes it seem easy. Here are my recommendations: Read the assigned readings he tests on them, View the videos he tests on them, and participate in class it' 20% of the grade. He offers a study session before the final, go to it and the final will be easier
An exam for both in-person class sessions, 1 application assignment, & 1 final. Exam grades are determined by a class curve & mandatory class participation points, as well as attendance. Come to class prepared for the 2 midterms & final with a CRISP Scantron. Really funny, but can be intimidating, as he will purposely try to challenge you in class.
One of the best classes you can take at SDSU. His class format is taught in a way that will engage you! All MGT majors should add this class. The information learned in this class will highly be of use in the future. Attendance is mandatory. Don't fall behind on the reading and participate!! Thank you Professor Eaton!!
Class went by quick for a 4 hour lecture due to constant engagement. Met 3 times over the course of less than 2 months. A on first quiz, D on second, A on final for a final grade of an A-. I watched all the videos first, then read the book after. Exams are more conceptual application rather than memorization. Overall, way too much for just 1 unit.
He's alright. Tests are hard! He curves the class. Watch the videos and read! (that's basically your hw, preparing for class) You get the class over with quickly. You can't miss class, so pick your dates for class accordingly.
Class is based on 2 quizzes of 20 questions. 12 points for participation for each class. You have to participate 2 times during each class. This class is hard for 1 UNIT!. See the videos, follow the powerpoint and READ!!! you have to read!!!! all questions in tests are conceptual, you have to analyze rather than memorize. This class requires TIME.
His lectures are SUPER entertaining. Quizzes are really difficult, you really need to do the readings and watch the videos prior. Participation is huge. The class is long but he keeps it engaging the whole time.
By far one the rudest professors I've encountered. Took his class online, and he doesn't wait a SECOND for you to respond. Has very high expectations, impatient to say the least. He is practically screaming at you, and gets mad when people dont respond. Quizzes are very hard, however he does curve. Class is engaging if you pay attention.
Not worth it. 1 unit class with super difficult tests he curves grades, uses webcam LD browser, all in all this class and teacher was wack. save your GPA and take someone else
You will be surprised with his level of rudeness. Be prepared because he can call on you at anytime. Class can be drowning as there is only a 10 minute break. His quizzes are alright if you study and watch all the videos. This class was definitely a nightmare, but the class is curved in the end.
You learn the material on your own and take quizzes before class. Lectures consisted of case studies and skits that personally didn't help me too much. In-class participation can be intimidating because he tends to interrupt you.. but he acknowledges that he's just trying to keep the class on track. Very knowledgeable guy.
Lectures are actually engaging! He can come off kinda impatient but he is definitely aware of that and explained that it's just because he has limited time to get through a lot. Don't take it personally. Definitely take him if you actually don't like being bored during class.
Professor Eaton is a good professor. He makes BA 300 easy and I highly recommend him. I would definitely take him again
The people that find Dan Eaton rude are just sensitive, there was nothing rude about him. He just comes off impatient but it's more that he is abrupt, rather than actually being rude. I find this class to go by fast for 3.8 hour class.
You will read a lot. He gives really good feedback but does do trick questions on quizzes. If you don't participate in both segments of each class you lose a lot of points. He is a very tough grader considering he has office hours and you can always email him when in doubt about a concept. Would take again but would prepare myself even more before.
The material wasn't bad, but he made the exams tricky. 3 quizzes throughout the semester 20 points for the first 2 and 25 for the final. Make sure to get the participation points because they are easy to get and will hurt you if you don't. He is a straight forward guy, as long as you do what he asks for; you won't have a problem with him.
Read and re-read the textbook. Use Quizlet, review again and again until it makes sense to you (some of them will be on test tho) and re-watch the videos. He curves a lots too. You must read book or you fail.
While some the comments below may be true, In my case. this is the worst professor I ever had. for a 1 unit course. it feels like a 3 uint course with the amount of reading and challenging exams.
Professor Eaton's class was interesting since it's just applying ethics to business. It's a short class (ended in March) with 2 quizzes, 1 final exam, & 20 participation points. He uses Respondus Lockdown and Monitor, but the good thing about the class was the curve was HEAVY. Use his office hours for questions!
In all honesty a lot of the BA 3OO teachers are using the same material so if you need a prof to take this is a solid choice. Only 3 classes met via zoom, where participation matters for full credit. You also have an option to submit a written assignment for in class points. Tests rely on a lot of reading & concept knowledge.
If you have the chance to take MGT 464 or Eaton do it!! He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. All these other people complaining on here are people who dont want to learn and engage. Eatons classes are interactive, and truly get you to understand the material. I am shy and I felt 100% comfortable participating in class. TAKE HIM!
I believe that all of the professors on BA 300 are harder. Eaton tried to allow all students to participate in the discussion. He picked students equally. Moreover, he extended the session of the last class until everyone gets participation points. However, all exams are tough and tricky.
YOU NEED TO TAKE EATON. This man is HILARIOUS, and his class completely changed my worldview of ethics/morality. I feel like a much better person because of this class -- he presented difficult issues in interesting and informative ways, and always opened the floor for conversation. Lifechanging. 1000% would take again.
Possibly the best professor at SDSU. I almost dropped after the first class because he seemed so scary, but I'm so glad I didn't. He is HILARIOUS and always has a lot of energy during class. Class is set up as an ethical discussion and everyone is expected to participate. He really wants you to succeed. Never thought ethics could be so interesting.
300 is hard no matter who you take it with, but Eaton is a solid choice. Only three class meetings in the semester. Class is made up of two brutal quizzes, participation points, and the final. I got 50's on both quizzes, failed the final, but finished with a B after the curve. Very knowledgeable guy, pretty funny and insightful lectures.
He's one of those professors who utilizes the whole 2 hours and 40 minutes, but the good thing about him, is that he helps it go by fast. For those who are shy and timid, this class is participation based, but he makes it comfortable enough for people to share and answer his questions. Overall, I recommend (especially in person).
It's a lot for a 1 unit class but what you learn is important, relevant, and seen consistently in businesses every day. The hardest part is you are graded on so few things so study well, watch the videos, and read the book.. Don't think you can go into a test without studying, answers can be very similar and hard to know which one to pick.
Its funny because as a (business) ethics professor, hes kind of rude. But anyway, this class should definitely not be a ONE unit class, based on how much work and reading is involved in the course. The tests can also be quite difficult.
He scared me, kinda gave me creepy vibes, but we only had to go to class like 3 times so it was tolerable. Overall class is pretty easy, don't need to read the textbook if you use quizlet for the 2 quizzes and pay attention to the discussions for the final.
If you have the opportunity to take Prof. Eaton's course TAKE IT! All the courses for BA-300 are almost 4 hours long and he makes the time fly by. Class is extremely engaging. If you do all the reading and lecture material provided you will be golden and have an amazing experience.
Eaton was hilarious. People on here saying he was rude do not know how to be told they're wrong, because something about him is that he is very blunt and will tell you your answer is not correct on the spot but not in a disrespectful way. If you don't read/take notes + watch videos, you won't pass. Videos are a small portion of content. 2 mid 1 fin
He is hilarious!! Class is all based on a huge curve. Everyone failed every test but participated in class and passed. Taking him again for a different course. You only show up to class 2 times in the semester the rest is online at your own time.
three classes that you must attend in order to pass. HILARIOUS professor who makes the 3+ hour block both entertaining and engaging. never opened the textbook, watched lectures, or took notes outside of class but still managed to score above the mean on every exam (around 50%) and end with a B after participation and curve. super fun class
Just go to class and study. You should be fine. He might be the most unfunny professor I've ever had. He is a giant narcissist who thinks he is better than everyone because he went to Harvard Law. He also really wants to be Jordan Peterson and mimics his mannerisms. He will never be as impactful as Dr. Peterson.
Only lasts 1 month & a half, the whole time you're asynchronously reading chapters and taking notes on accompanying VIDEOS (key study material) - then you get quizzed the material reading. Two quizzes (each covers two blocks of material) in two class meets. the 3rd time you meet you have a cumulative final. Ultimately, its very doable & most get B-
If you are sensitive you will have a hard time in this class. Professor Eaton is hilarious and engaging. If you can understand his goofiness then you will have a great time watching him and listening to his lectures. You do have to participate in every class but he makes it more of a discussion and just wants you to critically think. Awesome 10/10
Really engaging and fun class to attend. Eaton does an excellent job at teaching the material and it's not a lot of work. Read all of the assigned reading (which takes under an hour each week) and participate in class and you will have an easy time. One of the best teachers in the Fowler School of Business. I learned so much. Take him!
Probably the most interesting professor I've had, which makes the class fun. Doesn't use powerpoints for lectures, encourages class participation which makes the two 4 hour lectures tolerable. Personality is a little different, comes off kinda rude/intimidating and can be scary to talk to lol. But also makes jokes and cares about his class.
Before taking Professor Eaton I was slightly concerned regarding some of the reviews on this website. I found myself thoroughly enjoying the lectures and being surprised with how quickly the lecture went. It felt like more of a comfortable group discussion than that of a purely lecture based class. Genuinely funny as hell too, 100% recommend.
Man, I love Prof. Eaton! I dreaded being stuck 3+ hours in class. However, he structures the class in which everyone participates in our class discussions. He's a funny guy and really cares for his students. He holds a review session on Zoom days before the final and tries his darn best to clarify any confusions we have about the material. 10/10!
Such a fun law class to take. He really knows his material and is very passionate. He is funny but very strict on people participating. His tests are a bit challenging but he curves, I suggest never missing a class of his. They are all very informative! Great professor overall!
Funny and has a different teaching style. Heavy emphasis on participation. Comes off as rude and might interrupt you, but 1-1 nice and understanding. He does use the entire 7-9:40pm session so be ready for late nights. There is a curve at the end, but still do well on quizzes and the paper. Everything is straightforward with the readings.
he's ok, just don't take him, save yourself the long discussion based class. it can be fun, but you won't leave like you learned a lot.
Eaton is funny and super energetic. Definitely take him for B A 300 as he makes the 4 hour lectures seem to go by very fast. Class is graded on participation, 2 exams, and a final. Don't really have to study that much, just read over a quizlet a couple times and you will pass easily.
Took Fall 23. Overall was a good experience! Make sure to read and use Quizlet for challenging quizzes and exams. Class participation is a must. Made the 4 hour classes go by fast, 20 question quizzes/50 question final exam. I found quiz/exam difficult as there is so much info, class has a nice curve. Don't miss class as you will most likely fail
class is super low maintenance bc u only show up 3 times a semester (tests given every class). just study before lecture and participate during class and u should be good to pass. no one scores 100% on the exams but its ok cuz it has a super heavy curve at the end of the semester. he made the 4hr lecture go by fast.
Really funny guy, but the way his class is structured is kind of strange. We learn everything ourselves thru recorded lectures from some other prof, and then attend in person class for 4 hours like 3 times and go over them. He is also somewhat rude and doesn't give great feedback, but the class is easy to pass if you do the reading and lectures.
Where do I even begin? Daniel Eaton is a stand-up man and his class is nothing short of extraordinary. He is definitely one of the professors I will remember for the rest of my life. He has so many interesting stories and an interesting, yet charming sense of humor. Quizzes should be easy if you read and study. Impressive man and class.
His lectures are long but he's funny, so if it's between him and prof ryan, take Eaton. He's entertaining and does a big curve at the end. If you are shy and dont like to talk in class, you probably should avoid this prof. He is very intersting and there is not a lot of actual homework just a lot of reading.
Some like him, I did not. He is very condescending and thinks that it is a sense of humor. Participation is a huge portion of your grade, yet he will call on the same people every class. It is not super difficult, and he does curve thankfully (averages are 60%). Keep up with the material and you should be fine.
This class only meets 3 times a semester for over 3 hours. I would definitely recommend taking Dan. He makes the long class lectures go back fast and keeps everyone entertained/laughing. He makes it easy to participate and cares about his students. I am honestly shocked he is not rated higher. He made me not dread going to class on Saturday.
Professor Eaton makes the 4-hour lectures bearable with his energetic personality and engaging discussions. Use Quizlet and unstuck study for test prep - it really helps with the challenging quizzes.
Professor Eaton provided an entertaining and informative class. Class participation really makes the class interesting. The readings and case studies were interesting, and the class format was easy to follow.
Avoid this prof at all costs. His exams are unreasonably difficult and he takes pleasure in making students uncomfortable. He selectively calls on the same people, mocks differing opinions, and refuses to post grades until the end of the term to dodge bad evaluations. Rude and condescending, his class was a complete waste of time and money.
Professor Eaton makes the best out of a difficult class. He makes the four hour class fly by, and it isn't too difficult to earn your participation points during class. Use quizlet to study for the exams, they were challenging but they are the same for all BA 300 classes and not hard if you prepare well. He lets you know your final grade early.
Avoid this guy made my life too hard for no reason
Professor Eaton is a great professor, honestly the best I've had at state. His lectures are more of a conversation than him just yapping at the class, and they are very engaging. He's a practicing lawyer, so he has tons of real world examples that I learned a lot from. Im gen bus major, took this class a elective and don't regret it one bit!
His classes are interactive; interesting and class structure is easy to follow. I found him funny and entertaining. The quizzes are not hard he tells you what to study, the final is long but not hard if you review the material. Participation matters and very easy to get the points and they help final grade, get the points!
Took Prof. Eaton for BA 300 & MGT 464. He grades based on a few key assignments, so you have to stay sharp. He's fair and transparent. His unique personality keeps the class engaged. I enjoyed his teaching style clear, insightful, and focused on real-world thinking and discussion. Participation is important.
Participate even if you know you are wrong; it is a major part of your grade. Use Quizlet and the lecture videos to study for exams. Class is graded by three exams and participation points. My class had a curve, it is NOT guaranteed. It's not a terrible class, and he makes the long lectures fun. Participate and be respectful,l nd you'll be fine.
I have never written one of these before but made sure to do so for Professor Eaton. If graduating from Harvard wasn't enough to believe he would be a great instructor his jokes and kind heart made this class a breeze. If you're seeing this its your sign to take him, but ultimately it is in your hands.
Lectures often focused on personal stories instead of clearly explaining the material. Participation felt uncomfortable at times, especially for quieter or introverted students, which discouraged speaking up. Communication outside of class was limited and as a student registered with disability services, I did not feel well supported.
