very nice guy! Really cares about his students. Maybe he's harder for Biology
No Comments
good teacher...everything he taught he made sure that it makes sense to the students

he's a great professor. Fun and really makes the class enjoyable. He makes sure that the subject matter is well understood.
He only liked certain people. He didnt pay attention to my final presentation. I got a C and his tests were pretty hard.
Excellent professor...very professional.
Very professional but dont slip up. Turn your cell phone off and pay attention. He isnt afraid to yell at you right in the middle of class but is an excellent teacher.
Not helpful, seems to be grumpy a lot
This guy was awefullllll. I hated him and his class...don't take it!!!
He was the hardest teacher ever. He also has these moments where he starts yelling at anyone who is talking, and makes them feel like they are in grammar school.
very unprofessional and unconcerned with your grades. Liked to talk about things unrealted to class, and loved to make you feel stupid. Spoke of your weaknesses in front of the whole class. NOT RECOMMENED

He was a great biology teacher. His notes are straight to the point and cover exactly what is on the test. I never used my book only to look at pictures because my notes were great and included everything necessary for the tests. **Highly recommended**
I thought he was a great teacher. I never witnessed any of the the things mentioned in the negative comments posted here. In fact, I can't say enough good things about him
absolutely horrible-- he def made me people feel stupid and treated his students like they were 10 years old-- DEF the worst teacher i ever had--- he s*cks!!!!!!
Excellent teacher, very clear, excellent notes, reasonable tests. Pay attention, study, and act like a college student in this class and you won't have any problems.
Awesome teacher. Notes are thorough, clear and concise. Doesn't try to be tricky on tests. Tests reflect the lecture, the notes, and the text. Be a responsible college student and you'll do fine. I highly recommend him.
interesting class. tests follow the lecture, notes & book. may seem to be a jerk in the beginning but actually isn't. he just wants to you to know the information and follow along. doesn't want u to guess. is a nice guy talking to him one on one. responds to emails quick. and ALWAYS BRING UR BOOK TO CLASS, no exceptions! :)
He was horrible. Drop if you ever get him. Not a nice person, does not clarify on your questions. Yells at you like you are a 3 old. Very by the book and he makes you do a botanical project...boring
He is a "doctor" Flisser,HE KNOWS his material. He is very challenging, but you come away from his class with an excellent understanding of the material. He is a bit intimidating but do use him to absorb as much information as possible. He does not make you write up lab reports and that is GREAT! Ask questions, he will answer them.Hes a good teache
Dr. Flisser, is the most helpful professor I have ever had. He is fair and his teaching method is clear and detailed. I have never had such a dedicated professor.
Great teacher. Nice if you try, nasty if you're a slacker. Major fault: reverts to grade school behavior when really ticked off. Outweighed by knowledge, dedication, thoroughness, and helpfulness (unless it's something stupid. Act like an adult and he treats you like one.
He is the most ignorant teacher I have ever meet. He do not know how to talk to people. He does know his material but he was very rude!!!!
if you're going to act like you are in high school he will treat you as one.he's an awesome teacher who knows his****.pay attention listen read and study and you will get on his good side.real nice guy when you get to know him
he is very strict in his ways of classroom etiquette, but if you dont act like your in Highschool u will gain his respect quite easily. He is very clear and understandle and explains things so very well...i have taken Bio 2 times and i currently have a high B average...i encourage everyone to take him
One of the best teachers I've had here. Seems like kind of a jerk at first, but is a really nice guy one-on-one. A little condescending when questions are asked. But overall, treats students like adults & with respect. Knows his stuff, communicates it well, and seems to enjoy his job. What more could you ask?

Not helpful at all if you breath to lound in his class he'll deduct 2 point off final grade.
Study and ALWAYS BRING THE BOOK TO CLASS
Overall a good professor. Seems very strict and mean at first. Halfway thru the semester when the students who are serious about the class are the only ones left, he becomes a lot nicer. He's very helpful and knowledgeable. Anyone who is looking for an "easy A" you shouldn't take this class with him. But if you want to learn he's great.
Definately one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you fail his class its your own fault because all of his test questions come directly from the notes. Many people think he is mean, but if you take the time to talk to him he's really nice. He is very smart. As long as you study and keep your cell phone of during class you will get a good grade.
Extremely smart and friendly. Always helped. Never had a problem. Lectures are drawn out and boring, lots of notes, but all for the tests. Labs are easy, and the tests are easy. Just be there for notes and study OFF YOUR NOTES AND STUDY GUIDES and you'll pass wonderfully. Definitely fair with gradesm but sometimes the scantron graded wrong.
Lecture are very important with him, study the notes he gives you and you will be fine on exams. ALOT of work given especially during the summer, but as long as you show you are a serious student he will take you seriously. The only way I see people having a problem with him is if you show him you dont care. Very nice and very helpful.
if you are serious about the class.. he knows.. take GOOD NOTES.. test is always from notes only.. bring your book its used every class. participate in class and ask questions, he will explain what you dont understand. possible to get an A or B with good effort. much nicer one on one. seems moody some days, wants you to work to your potential.
Class sucked.I was absent a few times..once because my 6 month old was sick and another because i was in a car accidemt on the way to school.he didnt want to hear why i was absent and did nothing to simply tell me what topics i missed.hes rude and impossible.i killed myself studying for this class to get a D.waste of time and MONEY
Professor Flisser gives alot of notes. He is very nice, but can sometimes be moody. He hates when cell phones ring during class and when he is explaining something and other people talk over him. Labs are very easy and you will use you text book everyday. Tests are very long but take good notes and you will do great
It's not an easy A class but you will learn ALOT. It is great if you are continuing onto micro or A&P because you learn so much in the class...the only way you can fail is if you are lazy
He knows his information and the tests are directly from the lectures. Each lab has a quiz the next class for your lab grade as opposed to a lab report. Go to class, pay attention, and you will do great.
He takes everything personal, nothing pleases him!!! i worked my asss off none gets 100's with this man. He wont help u. LOTS OF WORK, TEST AND QUIZZES, NOT AN EASY A
Great Professor!! One of the best. Learned a great deal from him. Go to class, take good notes and you'll do great!
Very difficult teacher. We had many kids drop from the class. The tests are hard but they are straight from the notes. Labs were interesting. He doesn't stand for immaturity and incompetence, and will treat you like a child if you act like one .
Great teacher, very smart, pay attention, take really good notes and you will pass. All test questions are directly from notes.
He takes teaching very seriously, and wants to you understand. If you don't understand he will explain until you do. You need to attend every class and take good notes and basically take the class seriously if you are going to pass. Dr. Flisser is a wonderful teacher.
Great teacher. Anybody who failed this class is lazy and didn't deserve to pass. Take great notes, don't miss any classes and keep your phone turned off and you will be fine.
Well he is a good teacher with discipline. His exams are from the notes but the questions are v smartly written, they will trick you. He is v. hard, which is the reason I not get into bilogy field.
I had Professor Flisser in the Summer for a Biology class. He is a really good teacher, but he is a little tough! Just make sure to keep really well notes and study very hard! Take this class seriously!! I tried my best, and got a C! Although I got a C, I did feel as though I learned a lot!
Hes really hard, talks to the class as if they are imbeciles. I liked him as a teacher however, he knew the material well and explained it well. Wrote all notes on blackboards with detailed diagrams. You need to put in alot of outside reading and work with him. You also have two reasearch papers. Gradins is fair.
Dr. Flisser takes teaching very seriously, however he is a great teacher. Tells you exactly what you need to know and writes all notes on the board. Exams are long but straight from the notes. Attendance is required. If you write down what he writes, study hard, and show up everyday, you're guaranteed at least a B! Take his class!
Horrible professor... His exams were so hard.. He gave a study guide; however, the material on the guide was different from the test.. I would not take his class!!!
I loved this professor. He is strict & expects students to take his class seriously. He knows this material so well and is very organized. Book is req for each class but taking good notes is key. You will pass well if you study notes from class. Best thing is no lab reports. He tests instead. Great teacher and wish I could have him for every class!
Weird teacher..Seems like a jerk at first. Then when all the non serious students drop out, he lightens up a bit. You have to have good note taking and study habits, because his test are extremely hard! But you can boost your grade w/the lab quizzes and the 3 reports (as long as you are a good writer) BUT YOU'RE DONE FOR IF YOUR CELL PHONE RINGS!
He is a great professor! Not hard if you attend class and pay attention. You must copy notes right from board and write them and you will do great! Labs are easy and quiz is on lab notes. If you fail, you did not study the notes.Class was a crazy group so we had him laughing all the time!!! I would that him again!
Dr. Flisser is very no-nonsense, but he does an excellent job of explaining things. Be sure to take VERY GOOD notes of his lectures, study the figures he references in the books, and ffs don't leave your cell phone on in class, and you'll be fine. Great professor, I'd take him again.
I had another biology teacher before flisser and he was terrible!!(gembistky) WHen I started this class i sucked at science when i finished i got my first A in a science course. Not very helpful but if you listen and take notes you will do just fine!
Really nice guy with a tough exterior. He demands clarity in your writing, however there is not a lot of clarity in his exams. Many of my classmates and I would always have the same questions about the exam questions. His exam questions are not clear and therefore can be tricky. Proceed on exams with a lot of caution.
Dr. Flisser is extremely approachable and extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter. All material and labs are thoughoughly reviewed. He allows many questions for maximum comprehension of new material. Class was fun and engaging. Thrilled to take Bio2 with him in the Spring.
Here's some advice..If your're thinking about getting into the medical profession (ex..Nursing, Medicine, Psychology) this class will definitely wean out the competition. If you cant make it in his Bio class with an A or B, you wont make it in the A&P or Micro classes..Pay attention to the other ratings & study his notes!!!!!!
Detailed tests and quizzes. . .gotta study.
Flisser is a hard professor, but the upside is if your major requires you to take higher level bio classes, you will learn SO much in his class that you'll have a great foundation to work from. Tests are not easy, some questions are confusing, but overall if you study HARD you will do well. He is extremely knowledgeable and pretty straightforward.
He is a very good teacher and you can and will learn from this class. However, it IS hard to learn from him, very dry delivery in his teachings and loses your interest very easily. He's a very nice man, very helpful, but his delivery can put the entire class to sleep.
Amazing teacher and is very knowledgeable. His tests are directly from the notes he gives in class. He wants you to do well and helps you if you need it.
He tests are directly from the notes you take. He only uses the book to point out certain pictures and diagrams. Hes a very serious guy and doesnt joke around alot but it doesnt mean hes a bad person. His class was hard but if you study his notes you can pass with an easy a
Doctor flisser is a serious teacher who gives nothing for free. His tests are long and hard. He gives you outline for the tests, so if you study his notes you will get a good grade. Make sure your phone does not ring and that you are not talking while he is talking--he will embarrass you. After weak students have withdrawn, he relaxes. Take him!
Great teacher! He is difficult but hey, did you expect How to Tie Your Shoes 101? His classes are entertaining and if you pay attention, you will be fine!
He is a great instructor. He will respect you as long as you respect him/class. No monkey business in his class, which is good if you are there to learn. He has a dry sense of humor, you miss it if you don't pay attention! He will help you plenty, if you ask. His tests are long but directly from the material he goes over. I am in my 2nd class w/now
Amazing and clear. Pay attentention and take good notes. A sure A.
Excellent professor wants students to pass. Study his notes and you are guaranteed to get an A. He's def. not a fan of slackers so attend his classes, pay attention and do well! Would love to have him for BIO112
A first-class professor, very knowledgeable and a super-fair grader. Don't be a slacker, attend every class, study his notes, be attentive and you'll be happy and so will he. You get the grade you deserve.
Dr. F is an interesting and intelligent man. I can tell that he really appreciated students who made an effort in class. I'm happy with the B I earned in his class. His tests were tough, but study hard, attend class, and work hard on the projects. I'm super happy to have him again for Bio 112.
Dr. Flisser is an awesome teacher, probably one of the best I've ever had. I didn't like him at first because he comes off as uptight and a little rude, but he's very intelligent and witty. His classes are easy - pay attention, take notes, study them. The material is easy, but there is a lot of it. Do your work and get an A.
Did NOT like him at first. He needs to lighten up and not talk to students like they are six years old. With that being said, I am starting to see a bit of a lighter side of him and see some sense of humor coming out. I do like him. He will respect you if you respect him. And he absolutely knows what he is talking about
he is VERY RUDE and calls people out; embarresses them to whole class
He is clearly a very intelligent person. I loved him as a teacher. Dont get on his badside. Show up, do your work. His tests are based only off of his notes. So take them! Dont worry about reading the book to study. Have fun with his class but be respectful. He apprechiates someone who enjoys what he's teaching. GREAT teacher!!!
He's a great teacher who makes things interesting and is very knowledgable but doesn't take any crap so you have to show up and take notes. If you show him the respect I think he deserves he'll respect you right back. Tests are based solely off the notes so pay attention and you'll do just fine. A+ rating but definately not a class for slackers!
One of the best professors at Camden County College!! He knows his stuff, and is always there to answer any questions you may have. Ofcourse he is not easy, but nothing comes easy in life. What you learn in his class will stay with you for years. Also, it is awesome how quickly he replies to emails!
One of the best professors I have encountered in my long academic career. You will work for your grades, but you will learn so much that will be essential to other courses. Would not hesitate to choose a Flisser class again in the future. Tremendously helpful, very approachable, awesome instructor.
If you really truly want to learn bio, take him. He really knows what he's talking about and he really teaches. If you get on his bad side, he will watch over you, so he strikes some people wrong. I think he's a great teacher, learned a really lot.
Absolutely amazing in all aspects.
The best professor at ccc!! Wish there were more like him! not a class for slackers...
This class is extremely difficult, I never received any grade lower than a high C.. His test are all about 50+ fill in the blank, no word bank and spelling counts !! I had to drop the class ... and im terrified to take bio =(
Very intense class. If you want to actually learn, take him. He does not make it easy. Very intelligent man. This class is not for people who aren't taking school seriously. I worked the hardest I ever have and am going to get an A-. Great professor, hard class. I really learned a lot though and it prepared me well for the sciences.
He's one of those valuable professors that genuinely want you to do well. His exams are pretty much all lecture based and he gives you a study guide before hand. Read the chapters, write down EVERYTHING, study hard. You will succeed if you do those three things. He's always willing to help a student if they don't slack off
Horrible boring uptight and very hard I'm an A student and in hs got an A in bio and I had to drop. Tests are over 120 question half multiple choice half fill in the blank and spelling counts.. Would not recommend him if u have any type of a life outside his class. DROP!!!
You learn a lot but will mess your gpa up. I've never received a grade lower then a c ever. If your taking other classes have a family and work I would definitely not recommend him.. You need to put hours and hours in everyday to pass and not with a great grade either. Take a diff teacher!!! This guys
Dr. Flisser although very bright, should not be teaching. He would do much better in lab work or something of the sort. He is one of the most uptight people i've ever encountered. Never in my life would I imagine myself getting a "D" in a class that i dedicated 10-15 hours a week of study time. Do NOT take Dr. flisser unless absolutely necessary.
Dr. Flisser knows his Biology, and is an excellent lecturer. He explains everything clearly, and welcomes questions. He does start out a little uptight, but if the class respects his rules, he loosens up. He really does want to work with the students, and appreciates it when he sees the class working hard.
Prof. Flisser really knows his stuff, but has no tolerance for HS behavior or disrespect. Show up on time, TURN YOUR CELLPHONE OFF!!! And make sure that papers are done cleanly. I learned so much during his class, but be prepared to work, he expects a lot from his students--this is college. Quizzes after every lab.
He is very good at what he does. He definitely knows his Biology. He does not tolerate any nonsense AT ALL! He sames strict at first, but you'll get used to it. Very intimidating man though. He learns your name quick so don't underestimate him! Tests are easy if you study. He loves questions.
Dr. Flisser is an excellent professor. He is serious about teaching and loves participation. He does not tolerate the use of cell phones and lateness. If take good notes (write whatever he writes on the board including his drawings) and study, you will do well.
Such a wonderful teacher. Really helped me understand biology and genuinely cared about his students.
Honestly Prof.Flisser is one of the worst teachers I have had.He is very rude and arrogant to students. Every time a question is asked he responds in a sarcastic tone and rarely will answer the student's question. Some of us have tried to go to the dean about him but we need a signed paper saying we can complain about him.I do not recommend him!
Although Dr. Flisser is very knowledgable about the material he is a horrible teacher. He is demeaning, unapproachable, condescending, and belittling. AVOID him at all cost! I truly feel like he enjoys seeing students struggle!
Dr. Flisser is a fantastic teacher. I 100% recommend him. He grades easily on the labs and quizzes, and all of his test questions are right from the lecture notes. He recognizes when a student works hard and when they do not, and he will like you if you try hard which is always good!
Dr. Flisser is very knowledgeable about Bio owever he is not very helpful and does not answer questions. His exams are hard and he is not helpful to the students who are struggling. Worst professor at CCC. Do not take his class unless you wanna lower your GPA.
Dr. Flisser knows his material. If you are looking for an easy A look some where else. This is a College level course. Lab has quizzes not reports. You must read the book and study hard from the beginning. He expects a lot from his students with strict policies, After all we are adults. If you work hard A is possible, great foundation to go forward
Dr. Flisser is an amazing teacher! On the first day of class he intimidates people and most of the class dropped but after the first week he was awesome. Very thorough and the quizzes were right from the notes. I would definitely recommend him.
I will highly recommend Dr. Flisser if you want to learn. Comes off tough, but he's actually a softy who wants you to do well, but you have to make the effort. He cares about his students and his test are challenging but if you study you should be fine. Great guy!
Dr Flisser is an awesome Professor. CCC BEST!! Very Knowledgeable. whatever he writes on the board, you write and know. all test questions come from the notes, a few questions from the book. labs are great, quizzes are from the labs. I took this class last summer 8wk- got an A. I recommend him 100%. 2-abstract papers & group experiment & paper.
You definently get the grade you earn. If you don't try he will not go out of his way to help you. He knows his stuff and will do his best to help his students. He is usually very easy going, but if he knows the students are paying attention/trying he will get tough. I would def take him again because he knows what he is doing/teaching!
I hadn't been to school in 3 years and took his BIO-111 class. I Aced everything. His tests are straight from what he says/notes. He is an amazing person. Besides having a PhD in bio, he joined the peace core and taught about biology in Spanish in South America. I'm taking plant bio now because it didn't have enough students. I am thankful for him.
Comes off meaner first day of class than he really is.One word of advice: READ the corresponding book chapters. Exams come from lecture notes according to prof, but I always felt if I hadn't read the book there were myriad questions that were not able to be answered from lecture alone. Come to class, read the textbook and you can pass at very least
Dr F = excellent!Tests 98% from lecture.Take notes, attend class, review every day to keep up. Not many CCC Profs like this: he gives you info to get an A. You really need to question yourself if you get less than a B. Stay organized & review every day % you will get a great grade. Hello this is college so realize YOU HAVE TO PUT FORTH THE EFFORT!
I took Dr. Flisser for bio 111 and bio 112. He is a great professor. I recommend you attend class because there is a lot to teach and if you miss class many times you will be lost. He knows how to teach & he knows his stuff. Take the notes, learn the material and you'll be fine. Lab book always used, textbook sometimes. Participate when you can!
I really wasn't a fan of Dr. Flisser's class when I had him last semester, but after taking other professors within the Biology department, I realized how great of a professor he was. His class can be boring, but you will definitely finish his class with much more knowledge than a BIO 111 student who had another professor.
Professor Flisser is ccc's best. His teaching style challenges students to learn and absorb as much bio as they can... Honestly you have to study your butt off but it's all worth it in the end. I know & remember so much about bio because of him.
He is ignorant to some students which I think isn't professional due to him being a DR. He is an ok professor.
I would rate him as ok. Not the best, not the worst. Is clear he is very intelligent and knows his stuff, did have a tendency to talk to the class as if we were little children which was very off putting to me. Tests come right from notes but you have to study them as there is a TON of info and taxonomy that needs memorization. Would take again
Great teacher, material wise! I do not think he is one of the nicest people I have ever met, but I don't think he really cares if someone likes him or not. The class is straight forward -- take notes, study & ask questions when needed.
Class was supposed to start at 9am. He consistently showed up between 9:10 and 9:20 EVERY SINGLE DAY and sometimes tried to keep you late. Has absolutely no respect for students and his teaching methods are from the 1980's... Worst professor I've ever encountered. Avoid if at all possible.
Dr. Flisser can spot a slacker from a mile away(he's very clever). So don't expect too much from him if you show up late, or fall asleep in class and fail his assignments. He is EXTREMELY nice to students to make an effort, ask questions, show up on time, etc. Class isn't impossible but you have work for it. Good luck!
Dr. Flissler has been one of the best teachers I have ever had. If you want to learn and try it is an easy A. Not because the material is easy or he is easy but becasue he gives you every opporunity to do well. Topics are reviewed at length so you know exactly how to answer on test. If you have problems in this class you are likely the problem
Lectures are long! Tests are long! Take clear notes!!! Rewrite notes!!! Type notes!!! Study notes!!! You will pass. He insists you have a textbook but it really is unnecessary. He only uses it for reference and a couple scientist interviews. Oh and he will always be late to his 8am classes.... But you must be on time everyday!!!!
He's great.. if you make an effort and ask questions. He literally looks like he just got out of the Amazon to teach the class. He's always late and will always keep you longer than intended and wears that fanny back like a boss. He's lectures are awesome and his exams usually come from them. He's a great prof to have for an 8 week course.
Dr. Flisser comes off extremely stern at first, but as the semester drags along he figures out who is there to learn, vs. who is there wasting space. If you are an A/B/C student and arrive to class on time and are respectful, he reciprocates. If you are a bad student and late, beware he will call you out on it. Overall I highly recommend Dr. F
Took Bio II as 8 wk session. Tips: 1. Don't be late! 2. Get the text as he requires it for class and scientist interviews (have online text available in class) 3. Lectures are very, very good as he is a very knowledgeable individual. If you want to pass the exams, make sure you study the notes! Study as you go and not at the last minute.
I took Dr. Flisser for Bio 101. He definitely knows his stuff and is good at teaching it so you understand it. Several times hroughout the semester he called students out and embarrassed them in front of the class for various things they did. However, if you're a good student and do what you're told, you'll do great. He wants to help you succeed.
Yeah, he'll call you out if you're on your phone or talking while he's lecturing. But honestly. Just be respectful, be on time for class and participate when you can. He'll make you work for that A. The corny jokes and the fanny pack were iconic. Loved the Fliss
Dr. flisser is an exceptional professor who is very knowledgeable in his field. In his course you have to earn your grade. If you are a science major you will most definitely apply the knowledge from this course.
One of the most exceptional professor I had in my college life. If you want to get a bang on the buck in terms of the knowledge that you would acquire with the amount of money you pay for class, then get him for the BIO classes. But if you just want to pass and get a credit on a major science course, it might be best to consider other professors.
You have to earn that A because there is A LOT of material he covers but by the end of the course I felt very well prepared for BIO 2. At first he's a little awkward but when he warms up; he is goofy but funny. He will absolutely do his best to answer any questions you have. The tests are long though. I will definitely be taking him for BIO 2.
Everything you need to know is in the notes. Pay close attention to all the side conversations too, they will come up again.
BIO 112 taken as 8 week summer course I enjoyed the class. Felt like I wouldn't pass if I missed class time. Lots of notes. Jumps around a bit in lecture which can be a little confusing or frustrating if you're an order-driven person. Will give opportunities for extra credit. Really tries to make Biology interesting. Very nice guy.
Had him for BIO 1 (15-week) and BIO 2 (8-week) Dan is an amazing instructor. Only about 1-2 people dropped his class both times I took him. -80% of your grade is tests. -Tests are 95% from lecture, 5% based on (short) readings from the text. No surprises. -10% quizzes (very easy). -10% lab work/projects (easy). If you put in the work, easy A.
Professor Flisser is one of my all time favorite professors. I have to be honest, after the first week I seriously contemplated dropping his course. I naively doubted him. He is extremely straight forward, as long as you are there to learn, have your text book, show up on time and copy his notes, you are set to pass.
he is literally the best bio teacher ive ever had in my life. he makes bio very easy to understand and makes sure you understand everything. GO FLISSER!
Dr. Flisser is a rad guy. Great lectures and awesome sense of style. I love when he calls out people for acting like children. Makes class fun
I hated flisser at first because I thought he came off rude. As the class went on he became the best professor I ever had. He gives you all the notes you need just make sure you know them inside and out. The wording of the questions is the hardest part
Flisser was a great professor. He clearly states everything that is expected of you and outlines all of the material that you need to know clearly. He doesn't throw any curve balls at you, and gives you all of the tools to get an A.
Professor Flisser is awesome. It was my first semester back in 10 years and his lecture style was straightforward and entertaining. He really works to connect what you're learning to what you're experiencing in the real world. His tests are based on his lectures and he sends out great test reviews. The Green House Project is pretty sweet too!
Amazing Professor , don't skip classes and you'll be good. Always rewrite notes given in class , his exams are lecture based!!!
Dr. Flisser is by far one of the best professors I had. He is very straightforward and gives you everything you need to do well! IF YOU FAIL IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF HIM!
the kinda guy that talks at you for 3 hours straight. he was boring and unapproachable. calls people out, which can be funny if its not you. tests are lecture based but really long, hard and wordy. didn't like to answer questions and would completely skip over stuff if someone didn't answer him asap. wouldn't recommend if you don't like biology.
Great professor, abbreviates and organized for all lectures and labs. Approachable before/after lecture. Participating matters! Used textbook for interviews for exams and readings. Easy grading criteria (12 quizzes and 3 exams). Really understanding/knowledgeable professor, take him if you want a fun professor, worth the money!
I took Bio 1 and 2 at the same time during the summer. His class is lecture heavy and all you need is lecture notes to study. No need for a textbook or even labbook. He's a great and funny guy. Iconic with dar fanny pack. Class may be boring, but this is by FAR the easiest college class I has had ever taken, even easier then my electives at rutgers
While the course was condensed for the summer, the professor's friendless and fairness made it very manageable. The summer tests were very lecture based, straight forward, and fair; what he goes over in class will be on the test. There are office hours for extra help. No textbook or lab book is mandatory for the class. I received an A overall. :)
Dr. Flisser is a great lecturer. Participate in class and it helps so much more. He draws diagrams and thoroughly explains everything. He has a quiz after every lab and everything that he notes is on the quiz. As long as you take notes you will do well in this class. Don't disrespect him or act like a child, he has little tolerance for that.
The WORST teacher I have ever experienced in my entire education. He is terrible. Almost impossible to pass this class with a B. Nothing he teaches is ever on the tests. He does not grade you on your labs. You get graded on your tests and quizzes. He does not like when you ask questions. He does not want anyone to pass the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
One of the best professors I have ever taken. If you never really learned from your classes like me this will change your whole perspective. I thought he was crazy but ultimately he will make sure you learn the material. NOTES ARE IMPORTANT. Make sure you pay attention and review your notes after class. Overall not hard at all, best class yet.
Such a great professor, best one I have had in a while! He genuinely cares about the material and the process of learning it which helps the success rate of students so much. Dr. Flisser is a very understanding and knowledgable. Exams are very straight forward from the notes but you will have to know everything from the notes for the exam.
Dr. Flisser is one of the best professors I've had at CCC. His class is very lecture heavy and it is important to take notes. However, his tests come straight from the notes taken in class. Quizzes are based on what is learned in lab. Dr. Flisser is a very nice and understanding teacher and makes his class very interesting! Best bio teacher at CCC!
Most pretentious professor ever. Enjoys unnecessarily calling out students, wasting much class time for minor infractions in the syllabus. Emphasis on unnecessary. Not very open to class discussion nor student discussion on a topic either. He doesn't even know how to set up a microscope properly insisting the students had their scopes setup wrong.
Flisser is an amazing teacher! The lectures are long and there is a lot of information so note taking is a must but test and quiz questions are based exactly on notes. People seem to think hes strict but once you get to know him and enjoy his sarcastic, witty humor you learn to love him
Dr Flisser gives a well-detailed syllabus at the start of the semester. If you follow his rules and advice you will surely pass. Every piece of information he covers is mentioned in his exams. He cares about his students and their performance IF and ONLY IF you respect him and his rules. Basically, stay off your phone and be an honest student.
Dr. Flisser is a serious professor, who clearly has a passion for Bio. There is a lot of material to digest, and he expects you to put a lot of time into your lab reports, however he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. He does quizzes weekly, and he gives opportunity to ask any questions before hand. Firm, but fair professor.
The lecture doc is uploaded and on friday there is a quiz. Everything is open note but he still will answer any questions in a timely manner. Download the lectures and take the time to take all the quizzes, exams, and the few at home labs and you'll be just fine. Fliss rocks
Didnt do well in biology with a different professor. Dr. Flisser made it seem easy. He is a really great professor, definitely recommend taking his class! There is a quiz every Friday - the exams are based on the questions from those quizzes and exact material from the PowerPoints. If you study those, youre set!
I had Dr. Flisser for bio 1 and took him for this semester again in bio 2. Both semesters online with no zooms. He has well written and detailed notes that you can print out and use for the quizzes that he has every Friday. Also to note, the test questions are straight from the notes. This was my easiest class and highly recommend him.
Dr. Flisser is a good tutor, he does his best to give us the materials and information we need to get our work done. He communicates well and quickly. He motivates and gives reminders and feedbacks. A very good lecturer. I would be happy to be in his class again
Incredible professor without a doubt the best teacher when it comes to bio. Show up to class rewrite all notes and you will get good grades. Also don't have earbuds in or water on your desk if you get caught with either it's 2 point off your overall average. His only con is that he doesn't use canvas to take grades usually he did so during Covid-19
Fair grader but will word questions on quizzes weird to confuse you. Beware of strange behavior and odd temperament. One minute the lecture sounds like the most boring thing in existence, and in the next he'll become obnoxiously loud and weird. Many students (including myself) have also been chastised for asking regular questions.
He's a solid teacher. His lecture and his humor can be dry to listen in on but he knows his stuff. Don't miss his lectures too often or you'll get docked for points. His online quizzes + lab drawings are grade boosters. Lab exams are moderately fair, his tests can stretch beyond 100+ questions, be careful. Know the material and you'll be fine.
By far the best Professor Ive had at Camden. Everything comes off the modules for quizzes and tests. Pay attention during lectures and participate - easy A. No non-sense but he is also very personable. Wish he taught all sciences, Id def take him again. If youre questioning registering- heres your sign JUST DO IT! Hes awesome.
Dr. Flisser was an awesome professor especially during the summertime-if you intend on taking any science courses in the summer. He has no issue re-explaining stuff and is very personable. He will help in lab without scolding you or making sarcastic comments like other teachers unfortunately do here at CCC. I would take him again!
BIO 112 online. Take-home dissections were really fun and the labs that came along with them were easy. His lectures are google docs that are about 8-15 pages long. Tests are 70-100 multiple-choice answers. Responds within a couple of days by email. Has a tendency to take a while to grade things. I prefer him online to in-person.
Does not check his emails, I've sent over 10 emails and asked for help, but he replied to none, many other students had the same complaint. Sarcastic and impatient with the students he picks, giving them less than 5 seconds to answer before interrupting/moving on. Lectures from google slides and goes way too fast, heads up if you are a notetaker.
Never have I ever met a professor so disrespectful and unprofessional as him. He makes snide comments, even in his emails. He calls you out in class if you make a mistake on an assignment. He belittles you if you give the wrong answer to his question. Exams = 100% of grade. Quizzes do nothing! If you want to fail, go ahead and take him.
Dr. Flisser was amazing! There was no homework, it was only studying for quizzes and tests which isn't as bad as it sounds. You have a lecture one day, lab the next, and a lab quiz before the next lecture. He is a smart guy who will happily re-explain concepts. You can get a good grade as long as you are willing to participate and study.
Professor Flisser is a great teacher! He does lecture a lot and has his own sets of notes but if you pay attention and keep up with his diagrams and notes, you will know everything that you need to know on all your tests. I think as long as you are willing to do the work, you will have no problem with his class.
If you're not a bio major and/or don't like bio, don't take this class. Very complex concepts and note/lecture HEAVY. Flisser provides the notes for you but you still need to make some of your own for comprehension purposes. He's sometimes condescending. Overall, not the worst prof, and it's not the worst class, but non-bio majors shouldn't bother.
No projects, just quizzes and tests. Lectures from long word packets that can be hard to tell what is important or not, because he bolds/underlines/colors everything. As a result, you'll likely end up studying things you don't need, but should do good on exams. Exams are mostly multiple choice except for the final which was all multiple choice.
I took plant science and Bio II with Dr. Flisser. I enjoyed my time and learned so much. He is very no-nonsense and does not appreciate repeat absences. However, if you are respectful and show that you are putting in an effort, he will be happy to help you. He also goes over /everything/ before exams, so just pay attention and you'll do fine.
His slideshows aren't bad however his test difficult. There is an outline for every unit on things to review However half of the stuff ends up not even being on the test. No matter how hard I studied I never got above a 70 on his test. Overall would not recommend.
Dr. Flisser's class was too in-depth. He expects you to know things already. If you are not a biology/science person I would avoid his class at all costs. His tests were difficult and the questions were worded weirdly. No matter how many days I studied for his tests I never got over a 75. Extremely difficult.
Do you have to work hard to succeed in Dr. Flisser's class? For sure. But he is a fantastic professor. If you pay attention, take notes, and study, you will find that his class is extremely helpful. He basically goes through the animal kingdom from most ancestral to most advanced, with many dissections. If you are a bio major, ABSOLUTELY take him!
I enjoyed taking Dr. Flisser's online class. This course consisted of 4 exams (80 questions), 15 quizzes (drops 1), and 3 labs (drops 1). The labs were super fun at home and he provides the notes for you to print out to use. As long as you look over the notes and keep up with the course it should be an easy A. I would recommend taking him!
He is a really nice person, if you take the time to know him and if you are generally interested in biology. His lecture notes are on Canvas. He does lab quizzes so be prepared by reading the lab manual and lab notes. Tests are a mix of multiple choice and writing. Lectures get more involved as the semester moves, so be sure to ask questions!
HATED HIM. His lectures were super long and he never really reviewed the material before the test so you had to guess what was on it. It was hard to follow along and he was super old school. I will never take him again - he made me hate biology haha and change majors.
Love this teacher and his iconic fanny pack! As long as you pay attention to the lectures and be open about things you are confused (ask questions) about you should pass. He genuinely likes teaching and as long as you are respectful and listen he will help you! Everything you need is posted in the modules (easier to understand if reviewed before)
Professor Flisser's class can be challenging, but engaging with the material and using helpful study tools like unstuck AI can make a big difference. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and stay on top of labs and quizzes to succeed.
He is a hot head and in general a bad teacher. If you had any fun in the class it would make him mad. He targeted my group of friends and anyone who did something he didn't like. He reads off the slides so there's no point in taking it in person. In general a bad teacher who made class not fun or motivating. Encouraged students to drop.
Dr. Flisser mostly reads off slides and isn't very helpful. The class is boring, especially if you're not into bio. He can be a hothead, but the course is manageable if you stay on top of labs and quizzes, since tests are based on those. Use outside resources and study on your own. You can pass, but pick another professor if you can.
Dr. Flisser is a very straightforward professor overall. All it takes to get an A in the class is showing up and taking notes. The grading rubric is straightforward, and the class is easy.
He knows what he's talking about but he hates when ask too many questions and doesn't really do much to help students. He just sends you to the tutoring library and expects that it will help you. Be prepared to take 3 quizzes a week since there's no homework and you don't need to purchase any textbooks just a lab book that's about 70 dollars.
His lectures are extremely boring. He reads off of slides for 3 hours and expects you to memorize several dozens of terms per module per week without doing anything to help students not get confused or be interested. He always seems like he's struggling to control his temper with his students and never answers our questions on exam materials.
