If you want a class that is degrading and extremely hard, and full of criticism
awsome teacher
Teaches well, invites questions and then insults you for 20 minutes
If you get offended easily, dont take him, he is a good man and tries to help
knowledgable - fun - loved his class. argumentative, but in a good way.
He's crazy and he'll yell in class, but you'll pay attention ;)
class is a bit too much if u are taking it just to fill you E-sheet
Passionate/knowledgable about topics. Talk to him after class for great convos
He's the best teacher on campus; by missing class, you miss the great comments.
Doc Frau did more for my writing skills than all other instructors COMBINED!
Very outspoken, argumentive and will insult you, however is an awesome teacher.
Fraustino will teach you to write, and set the record straight about feminism
No Comments
Possibly one of the best. he's witty and helpful. you'll learn so much.
Great fashion sense... The BEST teacher I ever had.. you will definitely learn how to write and you'll LAUGH!!! He's hilarious and smart.
The best teacher you will ever have. He will make you laugh. The way he thinks is great! I'm taking him next semester if I can.

Great teacher
awesome guy...
I graduated two years ago and this is my fav prof ever! He is the greatest - ask him about gender studies - you are in for he best class debate of all time (=:
YOUR DA MAN DAWG!!!!!
assigns readings. grades on papers. no help with writing, hard grader, miserable person, arrogant, and shares his own views which are mostly incorrect. seems to hate his life. terrible teacher. i am less of a human for listening to him.
my name is michelle. i took dr. fraustino's fiction class and i LOVED it... i want to know who it is that said all those nasty things about my favorite teacher!!!!!!!
very energetic...fun class
Great teacher
sucked
I learned everything there is to know about writing from Dr.F and I'm taking him again in the fall
A breath of fresh air. His passion is contagious.
he teaches like a hero
Excellent teacher...the students who dont like him are the ones who do poorly in his class.he is one of the few teachers that allows students to speak their minds.he helps alleviate the little bubble the majority of scranton students immerse themselves in
I love DR. DAN!!
Doesnt ever shut up and thinks that he knows everything. Grades your intro papers like its a grad school paper. People that love him are easily led by his crap. If you are like me and think for yourself dont take him.
How can you not like him? People who don't like him take him way too seriously...get a sense of humor, idiots. He teaches you how to write, whoever said he grades like grad school prob. is illiterate. Learn a lot from him, cool guy.
He has a refreashing view on life and society. I learned more about life and ethics in his class than I didn in any of my philosophy classes. Once you go over a poem in class and reread it it takes on a whole new richer meaning.
dr. fraustino is awesome! he is hysterical, and keeps you awake in class. he grades his papers hard, but it only makes you a better writer!
Dr. Fraustino is a stud. His is the only class I've never skipped and I wish he were my dad !
Pay attention closely. He has insightful humor and ideas. Goes against liberal America, thank goodness.

He grades harshly? No. Fraustino grades easily ESPECIALLY when you go to him with your paper ahead of time... he will READ it and then tell you EXCATLY what he wants! You dothat, you get an A. It's a suck-up move, but it works
Dr. Fraustino is by far the funniest professor I have ever had. He has great views on life and allows us to speak our minds. There was never a dull moment in my class. We were always laughing at something. Take him. It's worth it!
Hilarious and helpful. Encourages you to do better and wants you to succeed. You'll learn a lot and not be bored, especially when he rants or jokes around about students in the class
LOVE HIM!! so nice, no tests, just a few sort papers to write, he's tough with grading but helps u as much as u want, great guy! so funny! def worth taking
If you like “learning” more about men's rights, religion, extreme “right-wing philosophy” and a few definitions, take the class. He deliberately inserts his own opinions in his class. Waste of time because beauty of poetry becomes blurred. Unprofessional
greatest teacher, didn't think i would like poetry until i took it with him. Readings are short and the quizzes are simple and easy. A few essays which arent bad at all. Very funny teacher, loved going to his class...
Best class ever!! Dr. Fraustino actually reads these comments, so keep up the good work! I had this class at 8:30am T/H last semester and it's the only class I had perfect attendance in! Go figure!
I've had Fraustino for several semesters and I can't get enough. Not only have I learned to write efficiently, but I've also become very perceptive in everything I do. Fraustino makes sense out of every day situations and I definitly reccommend his class!
"He enlarged my mind."
Odd guy. I think he teaches entirely to amuse himself. His class is permeated with conservative retoric, don't even try to debate just smile and nod, you will not change his mind. Take his class just to experience him.
hey i like right-wing philosophy, what can i say? =)
Very funny man, great political discusions, very easy workload, picky on the papers, NO TEST"S AT ALL, a few random quizes.
he sucks, worst teacher on campus
Dr. Fraustino is great. I took a class with him this summer, and I didn't want it to end. Regardless of whether you are of liberal or conservative, the class discussion is riveting, and at times, very funny. I LOVE Dr. Fraustino!
he harbors strong, conservative opinions, yes. but you do everyone a disservice if you quietly disagree with what he says only to whine about it later. he is brilliant, so arguing with him can be tough, but suck it up and make a point! he will listen and honestly appreciates students viewpoints.
very unusual and opinioned if you don't get along with him you'll hate the class or you'll find it hilarious the papers are really hard but he'll help you and their basically your whole grade so don'tscrew them up
No Comments
great class take it if you can. very funny & makes you think
Goes off on tangents that provide mostly useful & intelligent insight, but can also include some very pointed right-wing garbage. Seems crude & bitter, but he's brilliant. Group work is helpful. Class is more than just class, it's an experience. Bring your humor and a few grains of salt, and enjoy!
His class is an experience. He's every opinionated, so if you have a thin skin, dont take him. He quizzes you on poems, but the questions are easy (ex. vocabulary words). 4 papers are pretty easy. If you get a bad grade on the first one, go to his office and talk to him about how to fix it.
This man is GOLD. The unrelenting hilarity yielded by his class alone makes it worthwhile.
We're proud to have this man on board in the Republican party. Very smart and educated. Class is very interesting and he's a nice guy.
made me apprieciate a subject that i used to hate. readings and papers are fair. hillarious.
After taking one of his classes you'll never want another prof. He's the smartest, funniest, and by far the most entertaining teacher I've ever had. He really cares about his students and not only will you get a good dose of Eng. but you'll learn more theo. and philo. than from any other teacher on campus. P.S.TRUST ME HE LOOKS GREAT IN SHORTS:)
He's the only conservative in the English department. And thank God. :-)
This guy is really a great professor insightful, funny, and down to earth.

the reading are pretty short but you have to read for every class, no way at getting around it. he is really opinionated but explains his points, grades papers hard, i would take his class again, makes it exciting for 8 30 am
Best professor at the university

Great Republican guy loves G.W.Bush. Easy grader very nice Prof. M.Connolly's right hand man.

Pop quizzes a breeze if u read short poems. Fraustino is extremly intelligent & won't hestitate to dish a plate of reality at 9am. If you'd like an all-encompassing education, Fraustino is the guy to give it. He's also willing to be proven wrong, however, it is no easy task. No bullsh*t with this guy.Great teacher, I only wish he taught politics.DT
Dr. Dan Fraustino - a good man. I would want him next to me in battle.
I had Dr. Dan 2 semesters ago and I'm going to take him again if I can because after having2 other english profs since then I can say he is by far the BEST in the department. Pop quizzes and papers but no tests and you LEARN but can actually stay awake!
Dr. Fraustino is the best professor at Scranton! I loved his class. There are some pop quizzes but you really learn the material. Plus, he actually makes it interesting. Take any of his classes if you can.
Dr. Fraustino is hilarious! As long as you do the work and speak up in class, you'll do fine. If you have to take an early morning class, make it one of his because you wont have trouble staying awake!
Brilliant man. People mock him for his views, but he tells it like it is. He always backs up what he says and he knows what he is talking about in Fiction and otherwise. Fun class, wakes me up in the morning.
His class is sort of like Sunday dinner with your Italian-Catholic family... except with fiction it. But it makes you happy. And he's like REALLY smart. Take this class for sure.
Great professor! I would advise anyone to take one of his classes. He made the subject matter extremely interesting and he tells it like it is (which most profs. are too scared to). If you are taking an early morning class, take his! You'll have no problem staying awake. Brilliant!
of course he is a great professor, just ask him yourself
Awesome professor. Take his class.
Great teacher. He makes class interesting and fun no matter what the topic of discussion is. He is very opinonated and some people don't like that, but you don't have to agree with him because he welcomes your opinion and comments. Awesome class - definitely take him.
GREAT Teacher. Tells it like it- gets his point across. Well Read and really knows what he is talking about. TAKE HIM
i took a class with dr fraustino in the fall of 2005......this guy rocks! and hes not a pain in the ass like the rest of the english dept..... fraustino for life
Too full of himself. Pretends not to know you outside of the classroom. Shows favoritism towards the females. Smart? perhaps. Good teacher? probably not.

talks about this website too much, cites uncreditable sources, thinks he knows everything, talks about his personal business too much, overall very arrogant
This man is by far the best professor in the English department. If more professors were like him maybe college kids wouldn't be such left-wing hippies because they're finally getting a REAL education. A must take for any English major or minor.
This guy isn't for everyone. If you think you know how to write already, don't take his class. While he's a good writer, if your papers don't conform to his twisted world view, expect nothing higher than a C+. Tough grader. His opinions are brash but honest, and if you don't take offense to what he says, he might like you... maybe.
I thought I knew how to write until I took his class. He's funny, entertaining, cute, and you learn something, too. At least you can stay awake in class, even if you don't always agree with him. Just go to his office and ask for help if you want a good grade.

He's the man. Not afraid to say what he thinks or believes; not afraid to poke fun at anyone in the class (lightheartedly, though); and damn sure guaranteed to make class at least somewhat interesting just about every day.
teacher of the year....'nuff said!
This guy is not afraid to speak his mind, which is good. He has a right view on most topics, yet he doesn't stick to one side. Great teacher, tough grader. You need to really dig to get an A on his papers. Reading materials isn't too bad. Attendance is required, 4 or 5 cuts allowed. A must take in my opinion.
Dr. Fraustino, is honestly the man. If you dont take his class, you are a fool. He is an awesome teacher, and his philosophies on life are actually pretty balls on accurate. He is a touch grader on the papers, but he just teaches you to write better.
I freakin love him!!! except there's attendance policy and quizzes all the time, but he's totally understanding and worth taking cuz u will actually LEARN s/t and LIKE IT. and im not an english major. def take him no question about it.
WOW, what a guy. His crusade against his blue-blooded colleagues is commendable, and the best part is he is a whole hell of a lot more interesting than all of the other whackos in the English Dept. combined. It's good to know that fine American professors are still out there taking it to the streets with no-nonsense teaching styles!
Awesome teacher! Learned more about common sense and life than poetry. Not a professor for the sensitive. Though you may not agree with his views sometimes, still makes you laugh. And he's hot!! Lol.
He grades papers like a facist madman, and thinks he can change the world with poetry. He thinks hes a little too important. Nuff said
good guy. loved his class.
I don't go to school there anymore, but I know Dr. Fraustino likes to keep tabs on his ratings. Being 2 years out of the U, I can say that his teachings are still the most important and useful lessons I have taken from Scranton. He is a SOLID Reagan conservative, and he needs to start a revolution on campus to rescue us from Obama socialism!
Fraustino is an amazing professor. I definitely recommend him for business writing. The class consists of pop quizzes on the readings and six written projects. The quizzes are easy and the projects aren't hard, but he is meticulous when it comes to editing. Overall, he is a great man and can definitely make an 8:30am class interesting! Take him :)
Referring to his intersession Intro to Fiction class. Dr. Fraustino is one of the only REAL professors on campus. He is not afraid to speak his mind on any subject and encourages free-thinking. This guy managed to keep me listening intently and wanting to participate for the entire 2 1/2 hours. He earned his chili pepper.
An excellent teacher, Dr. Fraustino deftly balances no-nonsense teaching with a bit of levity. He cracks self-effacing jokes, and, on occassion, says things that will shock you. He teaches and entertains, folks.
Dr. Fraustino is a really hard teacher and getting a good grade is next to impossible BUT he is by far one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He will destroy you papers but he is one of those few teachers that you don't mind getting criticized by because of his honesty. He earned that chili pepper.
absolutely the TOUGHEST grader ever. He's entertaining during the class but the amount of time you need to spend on the actual essays is ridiculous. i went to him for help and did exactly what he said and i still got a bad grade. i easily gave up on trying in that class because of it. i wouldnt take him
A truly inspirational teacher. Doesn't just teach English, but how to live. Before his class, I was but a sick rose, but the invisible worm of his knowledge has filled me with learning!
LIFE-CHANGING. Yes, he offers students profound insight on all readings & meticulous writing commentary on all papers. But the real takeaway = his insightful life advice & (theatrically-bestowed) words of wisdom. Heed it! He genuinely cares about his students' wellbeing is known to follow-up on their progress post-semester. HELLO CHILI PEPPER. BAM.
BEST PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS. TELLS IT LIKE IT IS. OLD SCHOOL STYLE OF TEACHING. I LEARNED MORE ABOUT POLITICS FROM HIM THAN ANY OF MY POLITICAL SCIENCE TEACHERS. Really seems to care about you becoming a better writer. Nice conservative change in a place clouded with liberal indoctrination.
Wow, what a delight! I absolutely couldn't refrain from bequeathing an extra-spicy chili pepper to my favorite individual to be taught by. While his feminist views and overwhelming liberalism may occasionally frustrate my masculine ego, Dr. Dan is excellent at confabulating about literary manuscripts.
Dr. Dan is a very helpful and very understanding professor. Additionally, he was so very sensitive. He was almost moved to tears when describing "Life, not the painted veil called life." Dan and Percy Shelley are both correct in their assumption that you should not life the veil called life.
Really didn't enjoy his class and not because it was poetry. For an hour and fifteen minutes we sat and listened to him yell his lecture - some of his insights were interesting but everyone was mostly too scared or uninterested to participate. Weekly quizzes on the poems and 4 papers. EXTREMELY tough grader, go to the writing center to do well.
Had him for intro to poetry! I highly suggest taking him! You'll learn so much! Not just about poetry but life lessons as well! He also teaches you to be a better writer. Probably the funniest Italian guy I ever met! Just prepare yourself for some craziness.
Dr. Fraustino is an interesting man to say the least. He is a bit crazy, and yells at least every class, but he's rarely angry- he's just very enthusiastic! He's a fair grader, the more effort you put into your work the better grade you'll have. Overall a VERY good teacher, and I would recommend him to anyone who needs ENLT credit!
I have now had him for many classes, and I have to say that without a doubt he is my favorite professor. I came out of his classes not only better at writing, critical reading, and poetry, but also learned more about politics, pop culture, and zeitgeists than I could hope for. He keeps you engaged. Obviously love him and recommend taking him.
Dr. Fraustino is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He recognizes hard work, and definitely keeps his class interesting! TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN. He has taught me so much, and I feel like I have improved tremendously as a writer, reader, and learner - all thanks to him.
Dr. Fraustino is a great teacher. Some of the things he says are outrageous, but he always speaks his mind. Some people say he is a right-wing nut job, but I found him to be very honest and well informed about the real world unlike some professors who seem to live in a fantasy world. Even if you don't agree w/ him he's fun to be around. Take him!
I had Dr. Fraustino twice while attending the University of Scranton in the early to mid-2000s. In hindsight, I am so very fortunate he was my professor. He will teach you how to write like a professional adult. I now work at a Fortune 500 and communicate with extremely important clients regularly. My writing skills are strong thanks to him! .
Dr. Fraustino is an amazing teacher, and definitely worth taking. He teaches you how to write properly, and although he grades them harshly, it helped me improve dramatically. He has very strong opinions about almost everything, but even if you don't agree with him it's interesting to listen someone as passionate as him.
Hands down one of the best professors at the University. He is a caring guy and will help you with anything you need. I like this man more than I like my family.
Poetry with this professor is so much more than that. I left every class inspired and in a great mood. I learned more in Fraustino's class than I did with any other professor. As strange as it sounds, he has made me appreciate life and family so much more. Gives quizzes, so do the readings. Papers aren't so bad, & you're a fool not to take this.
One of my favorite professors at the U so far! Very conservative, which is good, since there are too many liberals who only want you to think one way. He always tells the most interesting stories and bits of information that allow you to think afterwards. He is very picky with what he wants on essays, but it's really helped me improve as a writer!
Dr. Fraustino is an incredible teacher & he teaches every class w the highest enthusiasm. He teaches his students to look @ any issue from an unbiased perspective & then draw ur own conclusion, as opposed to following what all the other liberal teachers preach. Very grateful I had him twice & I will always remain in contact w this great professor
I've taken two of his classes, and Dr. Fraustino is undoubtedly the best professor I've had at the U. I've never seen a professor put so much time and effort into grading papers. Even if you get an A on a paper, it'll be covered in relevant, useful feedback. Dr. Fraustino really tries to make you a better writer, and his lectures are hilarious.
Dr. Fraustino is passionate about the things he believes in. However, many of the things he believes are outdated. His views on race and gender are especially outdated. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers but will give you more feedback than any other teacher at this school. If you want an A you must do the reading and agree with his ideas
Great teacher. He is a tough grader, but gives excellent feedback that, if you use it, will get you a progressively higher grade throughout the semester. He is pretty right wing, but he is funny and having a different political opinion is not enough to drop a rating by even one point.
He has a tendency to go off the script and rant, can get a little shouty and anti-leftist establishment, but he's a great teacher who's truely inspiring and genuinely cares about his students. 10/10 would take again. Total savage.
I love Dr. Fraustino! I took him a few times. He will definitely make you a better writer! He's tough when grading, and he writes insulting notes on your paper, but it's funny, and he's being honest. I wish I could take him again, but I already took all of his classes. He's brutal, but honest. He def made me a better writer, and I'm grateful to him
I was nervous about this class but in the end I loved it & would definitely take him again. You HAVE to read to do well on the quizzes; he likes to go into detail. He was available to talk to if I had any trouble in the class & was great with giving feedback on papers! He is hilarious and you wont have a problem staying awake.
If you're a die-heart liberal, or get offended easy you might not like to hear what he has to say. But he's honest and means the absolute best. He loves his students and loves to teach. For this class we had a "quiz" every class, which consisted of 3-5 easy questions about the poems we had to read and four 3-page papers, not bad at all.
He's very good at telling you what he wants, and then tearing apart your paper regardless. He yells a lot in lecture, which might be off-putting to some. He also has gotten political, example being when he went on a rant against gun control the day after the Parkland shooting. Even if you try hard in this class, it's difficult to do well.
Dr. Fraustino is passionate about his topic. He is also passionate about politics. He has a loud voice & can get kinda intense, but he really loves to teach and feels very committed to that. If you can have an open mind & be self aware enough to let a lot of stuff slide by, you will learn a lot. GREAT feedback on papers. Hated the quizzes tho.
He is a really nice guy and captures your attention but grades papers really harshly. If you do take him, make sure to go to the writing center! Yes, even for the first paper. If you don't, you will regret it. Trust me. Also there are daily quizzes so you have to do the readings, look up the vocabulary, and read the foot notes.
I have never met a truer man than this one. He is really passionate about what he teaches, and will give you the grade that you work for. As long as you read the readings you will be fine. And not only that, you learn a lot of valuable life lessons. His arguments are always backed by logical reasoning, and is receptive to counter-arguments. Enjoy.
A real gem. I hope the U holds on to Dr. Fraustino for as long as possible. Arguably one of the best professors I have had. He is very tough with grading essays, but his harsh grading is meant to HELP you. I left his class improving my writing skills greatly. Also, if you are a liberal, beware!
I've been using rate my teacher / professor religiously for about five years. This is my first review. Dr. Fraustino is, in a word, revolutionary. There's no teacher like him and there won't be one again. It actually took me transferring to another school to realize just how great he was. You'll just have to see for yourself. Take his class.
Born to lecture. Hes got a tremendous understanding and appreciation for his profession. Incredibly unique and honest perspective on some incredible works of art. Basically peerless in terms of authenticity. This man loves poetry and he helps other people love it too
Youll never have another professor like Dr. Fraustino. As a non-English major who didnt give a single solitary care about the stories I read (i.e. looked at the online summaries), I enjoyed this course more than many of those within my major. Dont miss the opportunity to take a course with Dr. Fraustino.
