This guy is mad his class is a joke. So he tried to make it hard, awful TAS
Lots of work, but useful info! very enthusiatic...my TA was helpful too.
My discussion was awesome!! I loved my TA! She was so helpful and enthusiastic

Group Dynamics should be a required course for everyone! I learned so much

These are one of the bs classes to complete your gen-ed. Really easy but gotta put some effort in to get an A. Very enjoyable class.
Awesome class! This prof definetally keeps your attention.
He's a great guy, always available for help or to just talk. Everyone should take at least one class with this man, they'll never forget it.
It was enjoyable. Relaxing to go to class. Lectures about sex were entertaining.
Easy class, but you have to put some effort in. Good Gen Ed. Lectures weren't that bad, don't have to go to all of them. Discussion is pointless. Gerber talks too fast & mumbles a lot, but can be funny sometimes.
Really fun class and a really nice guy. This was a class I looked forward to going to every week.
Dan mumbles about a bunch of nothing in lectures and is unorganized. He throws random overheads up so you never know what is important. Awesome guy and easy material, but the test questions aren't clear..at least you learn about masterbation and sex! :)

lazy professor, many guest lectures, ta's do all the work, exams are not reflective of material needed. gerber doesnt go over anything realavant in lectures so ultimately you need to read thourghly through your textbook, course would be much better without him
Class is a joke. I went to 1 lecture all semester and got an A. Tests are multiple choice and all common sense. You only have to go to the Discussions and they are fun to go to anyway. Great class.
Interesting guy but tests don't seem relevant at all. Not available to help students either.
I did not like my T.A. and fortunately she moved. You could probably not go to any classes (although some are pretty entertaining at fisrt), study the text book for maybe an hour before exam and get about a 75. It is not hard to get a decent grade (B+) in this class if you do the Weekly Papers.
Interesting class ! My TA sucked -Abha. Avoid getting her. 2 pages of writing are due every Friday , and the topics are irrevelvant . Lectures are awesome , discussions blow ~
Great teacher, great TA's (Robin), and really easy work! really easy exams! i went to a couple lectures and got an A. Need to go to disc's though!
don't be fooled, it's not as easy as everyone thinks. class requires 2 page hws due every week, awful discussions, random material on tests, and 8 HRS of community service. gerber is a cool teacher except his stutter gets really annoying. u have to scramble to take notes in class cus he goes so fast
class was really interesting and fun, he enjoys the material and makes it very easy to follow...take minimal notes, watch a lot of movies, tests are faily easy, and the papers every week are a breeze..definetly take this course
Interesting Class
Gerber's lectures are interesting, and if you show up to every one, you should be able to get a decent grade. The weekly papers are a joke. They're graded on length not content. Just write two pages of nothing and you get a 10/10. The exam questions were very unclear and not relevant to the course material. Take this class for a relatively easy A.
typical high school health class gone college. its easy material, but specific.discussions suck, TAs suck, and youll never actually have any contact gerber. the weekly homeworks were a pain in the ass, and lectures are a joke.you pay $40 for the book, and only use it for the stupid homework assignments.and the bookstore wont buy it back..figures

good guy
class is funny~ the tests were tricky this year. he seems to to try to hard to be cool~ the material is stuff you go over in highschool. you have to do community service which was a pain. but the tests are only worth 50% of your grade~ the rest is weekly 2 page papers which are easy to get full credit for.
more then half the classes were guest speakers. in terms of grading: weekly 2 pages of reflection that's generally bs, community service, and three tests. go to classes and skim the readings. Easy.
he teaches maybe five classes all semester and the rest are guest lectures. homeworks are graded on length (2 full pages) and not content. go to class and at least look over the readings and you'll do fine.
really easy class, i went prob five times total and still managed A's on the tests. Three tests, no final. Papers every week, 2 pgs...all bs. Go to discussion and you will be fine.
really funny guy! you don't need to go to class at all, maybe if at all the lecture before the test to know what to study. definately go to all the discussions because you have to do all the homeworks that are due each week. even the tests are kind of a joke but if you read just the summaries at the back of the chapters you'll do ok!
This class is all about your discussion attendence. There is a good amount of busy work thats due every discussion, but as long you do the easy assignments and go to discussion you'll do good.
a ton of busy work
If you think this class will be an easy A your are sadly mistaken. 8 hours of community service are required and you have to do a TON of busywork each week. Gerber teaches maybe 1 out of every 4 lectures and when he does he is very unclear and poorly organized. Discussions are a required waste of time to pass in homeworks.

the discussions are kind of a lot of work and there is no review for the tests at all, but it was still a pretty easy class
This class was a little harder than I thought it would be, mostly because the tests are based on the most random information ever, it's pretty much all from the book. The lectures are boring and a lot of them are just powerpoint presentations or movies. Go to the discussions and don't miss a homework, and you'll be fine.
easy class, but stupid tests with some random questions you can't study for. tests are only 50% though and hmwk/attendence on friday is 40% and community service of 8 hours is 10%. you have to go to lectures more than people say, b/c most of the test is from them - they're fun to go to sometimes though. skim book and u'll be fine.
Very interesting lectures most of the time. He is a nut. The tests are hard because the questions are random. Discussion on Friday is required and you can't pass in your homework if you arn't there. Two page homework assignments each week. Discussions are pointless but easy.
gerber seems like a decent guy, the class is boring and useless (you learn all of this stuff in high school). Discussion on friday is manditory which isnt that bad unless you get AIMEE O'SULLIVAN. She is seriously a nazi, has no feeling or leniency for her students. her voice is obnoxiousand she explains things as if you are a retard in 1st grade
To sum up the class...i wouldn't reccomend it to the devil...he doesn't teach most of his lectures, and i think i learned more from his guest speakers. He is a nice guy but is not the teaching type. Students make up the exams, so they end up being on the most random information making it impossible to study for..wish i learned about add/drop sooner
Gerber is indeed a nice guy but hardly teaches the damn class! It's either a video or a guest speaker pretty much every class and the things they talk about are things youve known since middle school. The material is repetitve and the tests are kindof unfair. His questions are all statistical and stupid. Overall the class was kindof lame.
I dont think I have ever met a person, let alone a professor that is so willing to help you actually get a good job. He will pull strings, find loopholes and basically do anything to make sure you graduate on time (dean of public health dept.)- class 160 is common knowledge but easy- you have to go to friday discussion though
I never took My body my health so I have no idea what Dan's like in a lecture format but in a small group class he's an excellent facilitator and moderator, keeping discussion going and focusing on students' interests, while ensuring that the class stays on topic. He never lectures but he's always up for a good conversation. Good class overall.
he like never taught, all guest speakers..its fun to go to class though, exams are the randomest piece of sh1z ever!! i paid over 30$ for book and i didnt even read it..shame shame. easy gen ed..if you knw stuff.
He's class has just too much busy work. Seriously, everyweek, it's 2 pages at least and then community service project and group project. It's easy stuff, but just too much for a gened class. He's an average professor and he doesnt seem very prepared for class.
This class is a joke. Grading is based on attendance (PRS questions) its worth 50% of your grade, so if you dont go to lecture trade PRS' off with your friends and rotate. Other than that 2 pages doublespaced for homework each week (again easy, the prompts are opinion based and my TA didnt grade hard at all) and 8 hours community service.
so easy, all prs and 2 pg papers due every friday..very easy gen-ed
First of all don't twisted! even though its a easy class your grading could be F up.Th proffessor doesn't teach S, he doesn't do the final gradings and he leaves it to some TA to do it.I did most of the assignments, extracredits, went to class 90% of the time, did community services and he gave me a C.!
There are weekly papers but they're def. doable. He's a great guy - the T.A.s are also pretty chill. I didn't mind the Community service.
The class is pretty chill.but the head TA is a son of a (....) he gives tghe wrong grades for lecture attendance.
Dan is such a helpful teacher and really emphasizes learning outside the classroom. There's no tests or quizzes so you can't really complain about mandatory attendance (classes are usually entertaining). This class is perfect for people who are willing to learn but dont like tests and quizzes.
This course is kind of useless.Content cannot really be applied to everyday life and work. He assigns alot of busy work. He doesn't like it to be called busywork, but that is exactly what it is. Two page assignments every week, on the most useless of topics. Maybe time to retire???
no exams, no quizzes. just PRS and papers. go to class and discussion and get an easy A.
SOOOOO EASSYYYY!!!!!!!. TAKE THIS COURSE
Great class! Very, very interesting! They may have tests next semester, but I'm sure they will be easy. The subject matter in the class is great and it actually caused me to declare the public health major. My TA was awesome and really chill. She gave all my papers 100 and gave out tons of extra credit. Its almost impossible not to get an A.
This class was a joke. Dr. Gerber doesnt really teach the class, usually a guest speaker. No exams or quizzes. PRS makes attendance 'mandatory' but you can miss like 5 lectures with no penalty. Only work in this class was an easy reflection each week for discussion.. Next semester will probably have exams because he realized no one was learning much

What a joke. This class is so easy, there are no exams and he always has a guest speaker come in and teach the class. The only grade is the PRS and the opinion based paper due at the discussion. All you have to do is show up with your PRS and that's it. Very easy gen ed and some of the lectures are funny and interesting.
My Body My Health is one of the easiest classes at U. Mass. It now has 3 easy quizzes (25%)7 opinion/reflection responses (40%) Discussion attend/part (10%) PRS (can miss 5..5%)opinion post on SPark (weekly..10%)..community service/paper 10%. Somewhat interesting, mostly a joke. Mostly guest speakers. Must attend discussion . TA George rocks. Good.
This class is amazing!! No exams no quizzes just PRS scores and a paper due for discussions but it's completely opinion based. The lectures are pretty entertaining and he usually has guest lecturers all you have to do is show up!
really great at pulling in guest lecturers, but really doesn't teach THAT much. wish he would have lectured a little more. the t.a.'s were pretty good too. attendance is mandatory and community service project's a little annoying but overall great class!
He has a lot of guest speakers, which are interesting. When he gives lectures though, they are really useless, he jumps from topic to topic and it's hard to get a message out of it. People say this class is easy, which it is, but do expect to put time into reading/writing papers even though there aren't exams. Class little to do with "my body"
Generally, an easy class. No tests, just a weekly readings and response paper (1-2 pages). There are a lot of guest speakers and plentyof chances for extra credit. Attendance is taken through the iclicker. Very easy to get an A or B.
No books. No tests. No exams. No homework. Just journals and go to class. Literally the easiest Gen Ed.. and it's actually interesting! You'll learn a lot. and Dr Gerber is great. Plus, I didn't mind discussion at all- Recommend taking this class!
Dan doesn't really teach the class and when he does hes kinda all over the place and awkward. Other than that it was a great and easy class to take! there were a lot of interesting guest speakers and topics to make the class worthwhile. I didn't enjoy writing a journal reflection every week but overall i loved everything else about it!
No text book use. IClicker used ate every lecture. 1 discussion a week. 1 2-3 page paper a week. Easiest class I Have ever taken High School or College.
The class was just like a high school health class, so a joke. It was kind of fun though, and you have to go because of iclickers. The readings and journal every week were annoying, but not hard. But Dan Gerber is a tad on the weird side...but still funny. Overall an entertaining class.
Easy class! SO easy to get an A. You have weekly papers which can be annoying, but their graded by student TA's who could care less. I actually found the class interesting to go to, a lot of useful information.
Great, easy class. Very interesting, you can learn a lot about sex and the world. Fun and easy. He doesn't believe in tests, so you just have easy 500 word journals every week. Nice, relaxing class to take and he's really nice and funny! and you always get out early :)
Love this class!! Actually learned so much about life in general unlike other classes. No tests! Weekly papers which are just a summary of that weeks lectures and your opinion, and a community service project. Discussions are fun too. Everyone should take this class before graduating! RECCOMEND
Congrats you found the easiest class at Umass. 40% of your grade is iclicker attendence. One weekly one page paper and online post and a final 4 page paper about a community service project you have to do. Class is extremely interesting and the Gerbs usually has a guest speaker almost every class. If you want a free A take this class.
Very easy class. Must right a reflection paper every week and a final paper at the end of the semester. No exams or quizzes. Must do 8 hours of community service. Almost always has a guest speaker. Attendance is a big part of the class especially for discussion. A couple of extra credit opportunities.
I love this class! No tests, no homework except to read some articles online and write a short journal every week. Big class, but discussions are great. Lots of guest speakers and many different topics, so it keeps you interested. Dr. Gerber is a wonderful man
I love Dr. Gerber! He is very funny and always has a lot of interesting comments about the topics we cover in class. He always has a lot of guest speakers come in. No tests or quizzes, just come to class for the iClicker questions and write a journal and post a discussion comment every week and you're all set. Also: 8 hours of community service!
Dr. Gerber is awesome!! The class is wicked interesting! I actually look forward to attending the class. Attendance is required but you only have a few other grades so you should go and get an A for attendance. Personal journals due every friday that are easy to get A's on.
A different speaker would come each week and you just had to show up to the iclicker responses. Wicked easy course. Everyone will get an A. The speakers were very inspirational and taught me a lot about sex, drugs and alcohol. It was a wicked easy course i loved it.
This is the easiest class at UMass. You barely have to do anything and you will get an A. The professor seems like a perv. He briefly touched on the majority of the topics except for graphic intimacy which constituted approximately 10 classes. The discussions are interesting but the lectures are extremely uncomfortable.
Class was easy. Just attend for iClicker credit and you have to type a weekly discussion post of 500-800 words based on posted articles and lectures. It's annoying sometimes because the readings will rarely all be on the same topic. Also have to do community service.
Great class to take for an easy A, but also really interesting and relevant subject matter- it gets personal. This is the class that convinced me to declare the public health major. Good way to learn briefly about several different aspects of health.
The class has changed for upcoming semester. This is now a team based lecture with group projects and participations/readings. Easy and clear cut grading. Come to class and pass. Would take it again!!!!
class is not mentally demanding but if you don't like discussing personal matters it can be psychologically draining. You will discuss topics like substance abuse, sexual abuse, eating habits, and body image in small groups that he assigns. It gets very aggravating if you're in a judgmental group and you'll feel very trapped.
Great guy, I really recommend this class.
Pretty easy going professor. Basically just reads off the slides. No tests or quizzes and most of the work are group essays and a few short essays. Definitely should take for an easy A.
No exams, multiple extra credit opportunities. Great teaching method, lots of TedEd videos and talks in class with real life examples. Requires a fair amount of written work and a lot of in class participation. 500 - 800 word homework due every 2 week "unit" Classes bit too interactive, can get awkward in the beginning A good Gen-Ed.
Dan is the man. Showing up means you pass, and following the minimal criteria he gives you almost guarantees an A. He does his best to expose students to new ways of thinking and does it through being funny and weird. If you really give the class a shot(beyond being easy), you'll learn a lot about health. No tests - but there are team projects.
This class is crazy easy. Participation is your whole grade, so just show up and you will pass. Don't need to come to class to do homeworks. There are assigned seats... and you will do group projects everyday.
He is really good. I recommend you to take this for an easy A.
the class is pretty easy, no tests and the professor reads off slides but doesnt lecture too much. You get put into groups for a lot of work but usually they're pretty easy to do. You're TA for the class changes everything though, some will be your friend and then others will grade you hard and do nothing else.
Great class! Recommend everyone to take it. Really easy and also an extremely fun class. A lot of group work.
Easiest class taken at umass, papers once a week about 500 words, if you complete its an A, only other thing is volunteering which is annoying with a project to go along with it, TAs take attendance but grade leniently. No exams but group projects every class worth a good amount of your grade. Go to class and do the papers, do volunteering, easy A
Dr. Gerber's nice, but this class was a joke. I'm not sure why he has a decent rating. He "lectured" for 5 minutes of a 2.5 hour long class, and the rest was group work in breakout rooms. Assignments were unclear and painfully redundant. Your grade and experience depends on your group/TA. Unfortunately a mandatory class for public health.
Worst class I have ever taken. Everything is group work. Instructions are always unclear. Honestly could not tell you a thing I learned. He does not lecture. Going to this class and doing work was not hard, but extremely boring and frustrating. Prof is obsessed with himself. Would rather take orgo chem 20 times again than this.
Dr. Gerber may have been one of the founders of the public health program, but he knows it, and he will remind you every class. He will make you read his own papers for homework, and will make you do group work on his specific teachings. Dr. Gerber does not lecture and instead the majority of classwork is spent in groups. WASTE OF MONEY!
This class is super easy. If you need to do your DU Gen Ed and want an easy class, take this one. Professor though I have mixed feelings. Hes a nice guy but I didnt find him receptive to me.
Dr Gerber is such a good professor! This class is required for PH majors but I have really enjoyed it, I have met some great people thanks to this class! It's nice to have a class where you show up and do the work and pretty much get an A. You learn a lot of good skills in this class to use in the real world.
In this class you just work with one group for the whole semester and complete in class assignments together. There is one semester long project and easy journal reflections (where you just write about yourself) at the end of each unit, but otherwise there is no homework. It covers some interesting content and Gerber is a great professor. Easiest A
at the beginning of the semester, you get assigned with a group and you stick with them for the rest of the semester. In every class there is an assignment for your group to complete tgt and submit. topics are actually quite interesting and not difficult at all. just show up to class and you'll pass.
Dr. Gerber is super passionate about teaching and is just a really nice guy. This class was not like anything I had ever taken before because it was almost entirely team-based. Met some great people through my group. This class is required for public health majors, so if you don't like group work be prepared.
I love him. Great professor, easy work, he just wants you to make connections he doesn't care if you actually learn.
All you need to do for this class is show up. There are very few homework assignments and a semester long project. There is no way you can fail this class unless you simply don't show up. Gerber is such a nice guy who really cares about his students. He doesn't give exams or quizzes, he just wants connections to be made on the concepts he teaches.
Took PH160 as a Gen Ed course. Was an Easy A, no quizzes or exams. Attendance is mandatory, the class is heavily based on group work. If you show up & do the group work, you will pass with an A. He is not lecture heavy. Generally lectures for 5-10 minutes only, group work for the other hour. If you need an easy course I recommend this course.
Dr. Gerber really cares about his students. He has done so much and talks about his experiences as a public health professional in the real world. He wants to give his students real life activities and projects like you would do in the workforce. If you show up to class you'll get an A. All based around group work.
This class is an easy A for sure, and actually valuable. The lectures are interesting and Dr. Gerber is a very nice guy. He showed up for majority of our lectures despite the fact that he was going through cancer treatment. No tests or quizzes, just some fairly easy homework.
Dr. Gerber was an incredible professor! Super knowledgable about the Public Health major and incredibly kind. This class was actually super interesting, and you can tell he really cares about his students.
Dr. Gerber is a great professor and he is extremely knowledgeable about public health. This class is mainly group work and projects. As long as you show up and do the 6 homework assignments you will get an A.
the easiest class ever. everything is group work and gerber can read the room when students arent paying attention and will let u do something else. easiest gen ed
(for pubhlth389) by now you've prob already had him for 301 so you know how it is. this is his first sem teaching 389, but it's basically the same as 301: grade is based on attendance & the group project. discussion/team based learning. he lets us out like 15-20 mins early almost every class, super chill.
He is awesome and does not give exams. Attendance is the most important part of your grade. The TAs do most of the grading but are very lenient. The class relies mostly on group work but is very easy and you will get an A in this class if you show up, participate, and complete the readings/journal assignments.
Attendance is like 45% of the grade but overall very easy. Lectures are pretty boring but you do learn more about your own body and health. TA's are helpful if you get a nice TA but can be slow with grading.
The nicest guy with the coolest stories. This class is the esiest A you will receive. The class is long and late but it only met once a week and he would let us go an hour early. Attendance is manditory and you will work in assigned groups the whole semester. Weekly homework assignemts and enjoyable reading and one large project due on the last day
One of the best professors I have ever had. He is truly inspirational and caring. Doesn't just lecture you about topics, but you actually learn how to apply methods. Loved his socratic teaching style! You will not regret taking a class with him.
Great guy! You can't get away with skipping classes. I would've liked to have heard more stories from his life, he seems interesting.
Easiest class ever just show up, attendance is worth 45%, simple weekly homeworks, class doesn't take up the full time, every assignment in class is with your group, it's only once a week and it usually goes by pretty quick only one big project at the end is due, no in class exams. Does get annoyed about phones and laptops but super easy class.
I absolutely loved this class. This was my first time taking a class with Gerber and i will forever remember it. He is so inspiring and kind. He made it to almost every single class while battling cancer. One of the sweetest most gentle people i know. Please take a class with him if you can!
VERY GROUP HEAVY! Have to depend on others a lot for a heads up. Attendance is a HUGE part of the grade, but if you attend most of the classes you will easily get an A. The work is very easy, just very cooperative. This class forces you to improve your presentation public speaking skills, which is great if you are ready to do that.
Prof. Gerber is great - his class is mainly group work and projects, but as long as you show up and do the assignments, you'll likely get an A. The material is engaging, and he brings in real-world experience. Using Unstuck AI alongside the class resources definitely helped me prepare.
