Very knowledegeable about Buddhism, and almost as knowledgeable about the histories of Japan and China. Easy to talk to, tests were fairly easy. Lectures were always interesting. Kind of an odd fellow.

great teacher! knows SO much about buddhism and the eastern religions... i would definately go out of my way to take another class with him... altho he is kinda strange with his mannerisms... but very helpful and easy to approach if you have a question.

he's really cool. the class is pretty simple. only 3 tests and 1 paper. he's a real nice guy and if u have any problems he's really easy to talk to and he'll help you out

I really like him. he'll remember your name if you make yourself known to him. I've had him for western civ also, and i still chat with him if i see him on campus. if you study the notes, you'll pass the tests

He is my most favorite teacher..I actually learned in this class. He was so helpful anytime I needed anything. He has written my letters of recommendation for internships

Dr. Getz is great! He's enthusiastic, helpful, and talks TO you instead of AT you. The material is tough, but he makes it interesting. He's one of the best teachers on campus.

He was a great teacher especially since he didn't have the most interesting topic to cover. I though he did a great job! If you plan to take Western Civ at Bradley...take him! It involves a lot of writing, but better than the other Civ classes!

Dr. Getz is a wonderful teacher. He really wants you to learn. He is fascinating when it comes to Chinese religion. You definitely have to take a class from him!!!

I did everything I could to get into an easier Nonwestern Civ but got stuck w/ Chinese religion. It turned out to be one of my favorite classes and he's a great professor. Tests weren't too bad but definitely take great notes. Books needed!!!

You shouldn't graduate without taking a class with Dr. Getz. Without a doubt he is the nicest and most helpful teacher at Bradley. He LOVES what he's teaching and that's the best part about being in his classes. It doesn't get much better than him.

Rather simple, do your work (most of it is BS) and just so you know...this is not a class you can skip! I had it once a week...I missed it once and missed so much information. It's sort of intensive, but he's interesting and decent, much better other Civ!

He was awesome that's for sure. He had personality during the class and was extremely knowledgeable about his subject. I continue to keep in touch with him and I intend on doing so in the future.

Getz is AWESOME! If you have to take this class or even if you're a history major, take a Getz course. The guy loves what he's doing and he's amazing at teaching. He knows his history better than almost anyone. Easily my favorite teacher at Bradley.

Getz definitely knows what he's talking about. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject but tends to sort of over-teach sometimes leaving you wondering what you should or shouldn't try to retian for tests (this takes away somewhat from clarity).

Classes are interesting, he really knows his stuff! Be prepared to take lots of notes, pos. bring a computer to make it easier. He knows his large class by name and has an in-depth knowledge of what he teaches. Easily the BEST civ class you can take!

this class is awesome!! he is so helpful and will listen to all his students. its a very interesting class and the tests are pretty easy if you take notes and study. he knows his stuff too and isnt a boring monotone teacher either. take this class as a gen ed (human values)

This class was amazing. He's a nice guy. He's easy to get along with, he is interesting, and he answers your questions. He's always willing to help. And he makes it so it's not so boring. He loves what he does, and He makes sure everyone understands. Tests are easy if you study the material.

Danny really explains the material in depth and makes it interesting. For relevance he talks about stuff that is related but not on the tests which I didn't like too much but made it a lot more interesting. Just know what to take notes on.

Getz is SO nice! He will do anything for anyone. He even tries to learn everyone's names even though it's a 3 section lecture! 1 complaint- we got a lot of info at lectures and then took exams with very few questions so it was hard to know what to study. But for sure take him if you have the chance!

Very informative, but got easily sidetracked by other discussions during class.

He annoyed me a little because he repeated himself, but I think he did it to reiterate points that he really wanted students to know. I thought he could have gone a little bit faster, but it is a gen ed. Overall a good professor, his exams are fair and so is his grading. I would take him again.

Getz gets really excited about religion. Class is somewhat interesting to go to, but sometimes he gets confused about something because he's going along so fast he'll mix up a name.

I was not looking forward to this class at all, but Dr. Getz is seriously amazing! He actually made me want to come to class. Learned almost everyone's name in a class of almost 100. Study sessions before the exams and extra credit. He is the exemplary professor and I wish more were like him.

For his doctorate he went to Yale, because he got more fin aid than Harvard. Man is a genius. Very laid back, tells you whats on tests. Easy projects and quizzes. Will also take the time to learn everyones name. Great guy to just go out to lunch with and talk to. Beware if he really likes you he will start giving you extra books to read (im up to 8

This guy is awesome. He is easily one of my favorite profs, if only because he actually likes what he's doing, or seems to. He's incredibly smart and makes lecutres very interesting, even to the point that you actually want to go to them. Tests were a little difficult but the class was great. Take any of his classes that you can.

I really like Dr.Getz. Hes very helpful and wants his students to learn. He makes classes interesting by being interested in the subject material. If you are deciding on gen eds I would definitely take something with Dr.Getz.

Awesome teacher! Doesn't take attendance, but I never missed class because he makes everything interesting. I learned more in his class than my major classes. I would definitely recommend him, he is an awesome prof. He even learns everyone's name and we had almost 70 students in class!

I love Dr. Getz! He is entertaining in class and has reasonable expectations out of his students. He reviews what he has talked about and doesn't go too fast through material. I had some interest in the class before but he made it one of the best classes ever! He conducts his class in a narative style so take good notes and enjoy!

Dr. Getz actually wants you to do good in his class. He only gives 3 tests and 10 quizzes. The quizzes are extremely easy and if you do bad on a test, talk to him and he will make every effort possible to see that you do better. Be sure to take good notes. I definitely would take another one of his classes if it was in my major.

Absolutely amazing professor! Best I've had since high school. Loves teaching and it shows... Take as many course as you can with this man, he'll learn your name, talk with you, and you will learn. 2 1/2 hour class breezed by and was never boring. Great review each class period.

One of the best Bradley has. very educated in Asian cultures. Gets you interested in the material. took him over a j-term and it wasn't bad at all. Go to class and take good notes and an A isn't tough to achieve.

Getz is a nice guy. At first I was worried about the class but..I needed to take it. I´m glad I stuck with him because he is an extremely nice guy and does know what he is talking about. He is off the wall though, so if you don´t like that...then don´t take him.

I have had this professor for three of my classes at Bradley University, none of which were my major. But he makes class so interesting and thought provoking, that there is no professor or class that compares. He is the best teacher I've ever had, and I am nominating him emphatically for best teacher. I suggest you do the same if you've had him.

Amazing teacher. He knows how to lecture and keep student interest. I loved the class all except for the pseudointellectuals who made useless comments and asked questions about everything he said just to show how insightful they were. Getz was great, though.

You should go to class because the tests are mostly based off of lecture. He's a really good professor and keeps you interested in what he's saying. It's really straightforward and he loves teaching about religions. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Getz is a really great professor! I am not interested in what he teaches at all, but most of the time he is funny and thought-provoking. He can be a little repetitive, but that's because he wants to make sure you're prepared for the tests.

Awesome guy, fairly easy tests, lots of EC, but also a bit of homework. Unfortunately, he needs to be more clear in lecture, as he tends to ramble and bounce around. But makes for an interesting class. Great guy though, always willing to help, and is probably one of the most intelligent people in Peoria. Not even joking on that one.

Great professor, really passionate and wants to help you succeed. Attendance is taken, quiz every friday which isn't a bad thing it helps you to prepare for the exam and stay on task. The exams are fair and he does give extra credit and will have review cessions before exam. I'm taking him next semester too.He's a very smart guy and very entertaini

I LOVE DR. GETZ. Everyone will be quick to tell you not to take Western Civ. at Bradley, its obvious they have not taken it with Dr. Getz. He understands it is a Gen. Ed. class and he makes it easy. There are frequent GROUP QUIZZES and OPEN BOOK QUIZZES. He approaches the material in a way that most professors in the subject don't.

I needed to get a gen ed out of the way, but I also wanted a teacher that was passionate about the subject and strived to make sure his students succeeded. Dr. Getz fulfilled both. Very easy class! His lectures were a bit redundant and sometimes hard to follow but his weekly quizzes were super easy. There are only two tests in this class and as long as you go to lectures and somewhat study you will do fine. The journals also really help your grade. I got B's on both tests and still managed to get an A in the class.

Words do not describe what a pleasure it is to take a class from Dr. Getz. First of all, it is not a class, but a conversation about religion. The whole length of the class revolves around the question of what is a religion. It is not merely a class on religion, but on human nature in general. In addition, He'll learn your name and remember it too!

Dr. Getz is the best teacher I've had at Bradley so far. His class really makes you think and it's a discussion about everything not a here's the info go learn it type of class. If you do what you are supposed to this class is an easy B. And if you actually interact with Dr. Getz and study a little bit more for the test it's a guaranteed A.

Dr. Getz is the best professor I have ever had a Bradley. I have taken 2 classes with him and I am considering taking a 3rd. I am not normally interested in World Religions but Dr. Getz grabs your attention and makes class fun. In my opinion all professors should be forced to see how he lectures because he is THAT good.

The single best professor I have ever had. I have had multiple classes with him and he never disappoints. Very knowledgeable and passionate. Simply listen in class and do the readings (short ones) and this class should be easy!

Dr. Getz is probably one of the best professors I've had. He genuinely cares about his students and is enthusiastic about the material he teaches. However, during lecture, he rambles a little bit and his notes on the board arent very clear. So make sure to listen to everything he says and take copious notes!

This guy is a genius. Got his Masters in Taiwan and PhD at Yale. His class is lecture based, so you must attend class. I didn't study hard for the tests, just went over the notes I took and got an A. Pay attention in class; he'll pick on you for answers. He loves his students and wants them to succeed. I plan on taking RLS101 solely for this guy.

Getz is really fun. When I went to class at 9am, he would be able to keep me up! Make sure you go to all of his classes because the tests are 80% in-class material, thats where I messed up haha. Great teacher, make sure you go to the classes!

Gained so much respect for this man. I would suggest taking any of his classes. He is so passionate with his work and his students. He also loves when students go into his offers hours. Yes, you have to put in the work but the work is given to you in all of his lectures. If I had the option to take him again, I would. Such a great teacher.

By far one of the best professors at Bradley. definitely prepare for the assigned quizzes every monday since they add up. you need both books for the class. gives ec that is helpful and holds review sessions prior to tests. overall great guy and class is an A if you prepare for the quizzes. 2 tests, about 12 quizzes, 1 paper, no final.

If you go to class youll probably do ok. Skipping will make you fail for sure. He is really funny, great, caring, and wants the best for his students.

Dr. Getz is a seriously smart man. He tests on the lectures and the tests can be VERY specific to particular facts he shares during lectures, but he is a very understanding, goofy, and caring guy overall. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't take at least one class with him. Just be weary, his class is not as easy as it may seem.

Dr. Getz made what could have been a boring class (Chinese philosophy) pretty interesting. He assigns a lot of reading and papers, but grades them easily enough to make an A possible for anyone who puts the work in. He cares about every student, and goes out of his way to make his students feel important on an individual level.

Dr. Getz is the sweetest professor ever! He lectured VERY slow and repeats himself a lot, however his bubbly and funny personality makes up for it. He made a boring class somewhat interesting. He give A LOT of extra credit! There are only two tests are if you study for them they are pretty easy, however his quizzes have many specific questions.

take "ur own style of notes" and don't copy what he writes on the board bc it won't be helpful for quizzes or exams. There's 3 books but we only fully read one of them and they aren't hard to follow. The most stress from this class came from the 2 exams and our research paper (that wasn't too bad though). 12 EC points can help make or break grade.

This course was interesting and he made it fun and easy to learn. If you participated in the content and interacted with him then you would get the most out of this course

A professor that really cares about teaching. Lectures are scattered and full of info, so unless you can keep track of tons of random obscure facts you'll probably miss some quiz questions. However, I had a B throughout the semester but the last couple assignments are worth a lot and brought my grade up. Also just a super nice, friendly guy.
