Teaches what you need to know, and gives out excellent study guides for the test that's exactly like the test (vocabulary words, and a few questions)!

Very easy tests with clear study guide and note outlines. Don't have to write and huge paper just a 1 page article review which is a given a if you follow directions. All in all very easy. (but kinda boring)

The class is easy due to the notes outlined on the board and the study guide he gives you; as long as you complete it, you'll do fine on the exams. He does have a tendency to get side-tracked, however, and his lectures are a bit boring.

Karppi has to be one of the most professional teachers on campus. Just make sure you do the reading assignments before your lecture and it'll make understanding his lectures like flipping a coin.

If you study the outline he gives you that's all you need to do well on his tests. i learned absolutely nothing in class cuz he likes to get off topic and talk about current events. but if you study that outline it's an easy A (all multiple choice on tests)

Four very easy exams with review sheets and lecture outlines. Hardest part is the Article review he assigns, it requires some research and lot of time. Hates for you to be late and puts a sign on the door.

AWSOME TEACHER. He knows what he is talking about and makes the lectures fun and interesting. He really makes the lectures interesting. He also says, "In any event" about five or six times a class. He also can not draw very well (he doesn't try) so when he is trying to draw the United States, he usually just looks like a big rectangle! Good teacher

Poor in class lectures all semester-never covered outline!!!!! docked 11 points for my paper 12 lines over 1 pg. (so dont put too much thought into his paper) Dont recommend! unless you want to sit in class talking about completely off subject topics.

You have 4 exams and 1 paper. It's really easy if you do the review sheet he gives you and listen to the lectures. The paper is really easy if you follow the exact guidelines he gives you.

This man knows his stuff. Just watching him lecture, most of the time without notes, just looking up visualizing what he knows, shows how well he knows his material. A university professor at a junior college, it doesn't get any better than that. However, he can get drawn out and makes you start looking at the clock, but over all, a fantastic Prof!

He is extremely knowledgable and interesting. He gives a review sheet for each exam which spells out exactly what to study. There's one paper which is easy because he is very clear on what he expects. Overall wonderful teacher. His classes fill up quick.

This is possibly my favorite teacher of entire career. I used to loathe history, but Dan Karppi's competence and his very interesting, uncondescending lectures converted me for good. It is nice to see a prof so passionate, professional, un-complacent, respectful towards his students. Other profs, please go learn from Karppi!

The man is a walking encyclopedia. Lectures are a breeze. He can answer any question anyone has. Knows more about politics, history, government, and the Constitution than anyone at CTC. More interesting than any other!

His class was easy with the outline, but one of his test is tricky. I learned alot of information during his class. You have four test and one paper. I took his class for Govt I and II.

Smart guy. He likes to get off on tangents, but he asks a lot of questions that really make you think.I'm pretty sure he has the constitution and Declaration of independence memorized- he quotes them all the time. Stick to his class outline and you'll get an easy A.

Professor Karppi is a GREAT teacher! Before I took his class I hated history and to be honest I thought I was going to hate his class. Noe that I've completed his class I actually kinda like history now! He has very interesting lectures. He is a very easy going, laid back, cool guy. Just do the review and you are guaranteed an A!

I was never that into government when I took this class, but Karppi is so excited about this topic that his students can?t help but get excited about it too! He knows his topic from front to back and rarely looks at his notes during lecture. He answered any question quickly & w/o reference & almost always verbally cited his info. Awesome teacher!

Karppi was awesome! He knows his stuff and loves it. If you have a question he can pop off an answer to it right off the top of his head. And he uses contemporary examples to put historical events in context. Take this professor.

Very interesting teacher. If you go to his lectures and fill out the study guides with notes, then you should get an A or B atleast. I highly recommend him. I never really liked history class, but he made it very interesting.

GREAT Professor! I loved his class and will definately be taking more of his classes. He really knows his stuff and makes it all very relevant. He's very professional, doesn't talk about his personal problems, approachable, and tolerant. I think he's very careful not to make a fool out of someone who asks a dumb question. Nice guy...

I loved Mr. Karppi. A lot of kids find his lectures to be very boring (and he does ramble quite a bit) but usually what he has to say is quite interesting. He definitely knows his stuff. All the answers to the review are in his book, most of his lecture material is about the chapter in general. Nonetheless, a great guy and professor.

Mr.Karppi,really gives away an easy grade,just do the study guide questions read the assigned chapters and you will get A or B,his classes get very interesting,you will find out "juicy" info.about many people etc.He really knows his stuff have a lot of respect for that,sometimes a little boring but very interesting!

Easy class do his study guide and your fine. don't take the book to class unless you want to carry around a heavy book around. show up sign in and leave. everything on his test is what you can read on your own at home. he goes off topic for about 30mins. so your not missing much in his class

Dr. Karppi is awesome, before taking his class I had zero interest in history, but now I love it. This class is like a story-time class, and I enjoy it very much. I think he is great teacher and I am taking him again for Government. His study guides are easy to read and overall I give the class two thumbs up

WONDERFUL teacher. He teaches both Hist. and Gov. and you want his class if you can get it cause he makes it SO easy AND interesting! He gives out a lecture outline and study guide at the start of each section. Listen in class, ask ?'s, and fill out the study guide answers. Study the guide, & you will ACE EVERY EXAM. No cumulative final exam.

Great instructor...love his lectures. His class actually had me wanting to study more about politics and got me a little more involved in local government.I love how he doesn't have a biased approach. He points out little facts that many of us fail to look at w/ local scandals in media.Makes you look at things in a different perspective.Great Prof.

Dr. Karppi is a trip. Just remember to do the reviews he gives, that's all you will need for the test. You will hear him say "and my point is simply this" A LOT throughout the class. His lectures are interesting, however he does tend to get off topic a lot. Really a great professor though, one of the best I've had so far.

Do the review sheet. Listen to his lecture and he'll fill in the blanks with more clarity. He moves along well. Might have cracked the book open 4 or 5 times. I regret buying it. Oh yeah, Karppi gives a comprehensive test! Enjoy them while they last. Sooner or later you'll have to buy blue books. lol. The class is in the C.J.B so seating is great.

Karppi is a really good teacher. You pretty much just need to attend class and pay attention. He's pretty interesting so it isn't hard. There are no assignments besides 4 exams and he gives you reviews for each one. If you utilize the reviews, you can easily A's the class.

This teacher has lecture outlines, exam review sheets, and interesting lectures. He is very clear and to the point. He is also very clear on what he wants you to learn. Everything you need to know is on the handouts he gave you so as long as you study them you will pass with no problem.

I took him for govt 1 and he was great. Gives you a test review, just go through the book and fill everything out. This class was by far the easiest class I've ever had. He looks like a chubby Bill Gates. :)

Friendly, easy going. If you have a question as and he'll give you an answer rather than telling you to just go look it up like others might. His study guide is fantastic! Read the book, answer the study guide questions and you'll pass easily.

Except for the fact that his lectures were very boring, and that I found myself falling asleep multiple times, his tests were easy and the questions were taken straight from the study guide. He says you should read the whole book, but in reality you only need to read the pages that he specifies in his outlines. I would take him again.

Class isn't fun at all. He makes jokes during his lecture sometimes and you have to go or he'll drop you. He gives you study guides and if you study that before the test and retain the information you will pass with flying colors. But you need the book to pass this class.

Dr. Karppi is an excellent History professor. He lectures the entire 1hr 20mins. He can go on tangents but it was all interesting known the less. If you do the study guide there is no way you can't pass his class. I just wish he taught History II... I definitely recommend him for 1301...

Very professional, always on time, Dr. Karppi is brilliant and his class is very interesting because he knows so much, he even covered the new Affordable Health Care Act. I learned so much from him. It was stressful doing the class in the summer with 5 weeks, and taking History I & II, but I still enjoyed myself and came away knowing a lot. A++++

I took Dr. Karppi in the summer, it was hard to keep up with the workload, but that was expected because it was a four week course. Very intelligent teacher, great classroom discussions. I learned so much from this teacher.

While the lecture itself is not really helpful, everything you need comes from the textbook and the study guild that Karppi gives the students covers everything you need to know so as long as the student does the study guide they wont fail and should get decent grades throughout his class.

The class wasn't hard if you did the study guide and you pay attention in class cause he does tell you everything, he just jumps around alot so some times its hard to keep up with what he is talking about. Only take 4 exams and no homework. overall a pretty good teacher.

Dr Karppi was my favorite teacher this semester. He was very good !!! Graded up and always explained exactly what he expected of u! If you want a great teacher and a A take him. The class isn't a given you will have to work for your A but he makes it so your able to accomplish it.

I took Dr Karppi's 5 week summer course. This class was super easy and so were the 4 test that we took. Although test 2 required us to write 2 essays they were easy if you read the information he gave to us. His last test he gave us two questions that were dummy proof. Plus on the last two test he gives you extra credit questions.

Dr. Karppi is an amazing in-depth captivating lecturer within the social sciences department. The primary sources of information that is very helpful are the lecturer outlines & the study guides. Before he begins lecturing, he always discusses the importance of college life and reading along with being a successful individual in society.

I liked this class a lot! I enjoyed Mr. Kaarpi's lectures for the most part but the best part is the study guide he makes for you. It is IMPERATIVE that you do the study guide and read the text book to pass his exams!! Do them and the class is a piece of cake!

The only thing you need to do in order to pass this class is go over the study guide he gives you for each test. Cake. His tests are almost identical to his study guides. If you enjoy the subject, his lectures are insightful and interesting. If you don't care about the subject, you might find the lectures boring. Overall, an outstanding professor.

Bring your book, work on the study guide IN CLASS! Have a study group and divide up the questions that way, THEY DO NOT ALWAYS GO IN ORDER! Also he's very monotone and nasally... Also if you're late, don't even bother going. He'll ask you to leave or won't unlock the door. Highlighting is the way to go. good luck. you'll need it for the boring.

I love Hist so I really enjoyed this class. He gives you notes for the class AND a study guide with test questions. I studied what he gave me and had no problems with tests. He teaches a lot of different classes and kinda weaves stuff together which makes it a little more than history at times but still very interesting.

Dr. Karppi is a good history teacher he is knowledage about the subject. He gives study guides to help you wade though the mountains and mountains of information in your text. I would have recieved an A if I hadn't slacked off on my thrid text all the other's I recieved A's on.

In both Karppi's Gov and History classes, you pretty much do the same work. His lecture are long and boring, just take notes on subjects he keeps taking about. The only way to pass his test are if you READ the chapters. You HAVE TO READ in order to pass the class.

I hated this class wish I would've taken a different professor. He lectures the full hour and 20 minutes usually about irrelevant information, and it is boring and dull. The only good thing is his reviews which are pretty much the exact test so do those and read and you should pass.

Karppi is the worst professor I have ever had! For starters, he insults everyone going to CTC for not being at a university. He does not understand that there are a lot of reasons people go to CTC. Some of the other bad things about him are his lectures are very boring, he won't let you take notes on a laptop, and he goes on and on about the paper.

He is one of the worst professors I've had in a long time. I only go to class for the attendance. I've literally learned NOTHING from him actually teaching. I've had to read the book to learn everything. He talked about the paper 3 different times taking up the entire class each time. He gets off track and on long rants about nothing. FRUSTRATING!!

Karppi gives a few tests and that's it. You're required to read the book based on the study guide he gives you. For people who aren't willing to study regularly before the test, might not do well. Read the book, get to know the material, this class prepares you for higher level classes where the professors don't give free A's

He was a GREAT professor! Yes his lectures are a bit boring and long but he actually makes the material VERY easy to understand. And his test reviews are EXTREMELY HELPFUL. We only had a few tests and had to do a very easy research paper. I highly recommend taking Karppi for History 1301.

Dr. K was a good teacher, after starting college after not being in school for 20 plus years he made the transition easy for me. He tells you what you have to do to pass the class and his lectures are not above your head. he puts the information where you can understand it. Enjoy and remember to follow the study guide.

Professor Karppi was great. His lectures may have been long, but he gave good ones. The homework was easy and understandable. Everything he lectured about was in the exams, he did not miss a bit. We had a two pages Article not research paper and I myself am not a good writer. He gave me good feedback on what I did and provided me with a fair grade.

The lectures are very long and monotone. Taking notes while he is talking won't help because he goes off topic most Of the time. When ask a question he often gives his opinion instead of the "actual" factual answer. Overall he is a very skilled proffesor who has a lot too offer,just read and pay attention and you should be good.

I love Prof Karppi! His lectures may seem boring to people but I think he's quite hilarious! He's a great story teller and very intelligent. So many people take advantage of his kindness and sleep or leave his class early which is childish and rude, kids. Tests are easy. Do yourself a favor and take his class and learn something! He's great.

Professor Karppi was a great professor even though he had long lectures. However I really liked his class because it was an easy A. Every one of study guides is similar to the test so no surprises there. Just read the material and you should pass. We also had to do one essay for the semester which was was a piece of cake.

Karppi HIST1301. Attendance is tracked, but not necessary to pass. Lectures are interesting, but never related to test material. Lecture outlines and study guides are provided - you must do these and read all of the chapters. Four exams(midterm&final not comprehensive) and 1 essay. Essay is VERY important to your grade! Used split textbook.

He is a cool professor. Although be prepare to read the text book. He gives out study guides, that I would recommend doing them to pass. His class is easy to pass, if you read the text book and do the study guide. Also he gets off topic a lot in class. I wished he taught Hist 1302, I would totally take him again.

In-class "lectures" are long and frequently (way) off-topic. "Brief announcements" have taken half the class before. Tests are almost exactly the same as the study guides. Show up to class for mandatory attendance, read the book while Karppi is babbling and his classes are really easy. Not recommended if you have a low tolerance for boredom.

He describes history as being story in his very first lecture, and he tells some great stories. Sometimes they go a little off topic, but they are often interesting. He posts study guides online for exams and he takes the exams right from the study guide so I highly recommend doing the study guide and following along during lectures to take notes.

This class, while pretty boring, is soooo easy. Like I cannot express how easy this class is. He gives out these outlines that come right from the tests and honestly, you don't even need to actually read the book, just complete the outline. He also offers extra credit on every major grade. It would be difficult to fail this class.

If you are ok with lengthy lectures and reading the text book once in a while this class is a good pick. He offers online study guides as well as a lecture outline so you can follow along and know exactly what will be on the test which is good, and if you do the study guide than the tests are easy. If you pay attention this class is easy.

Karppi's class is a good class if you like long lectures that don't follow the outline. People often leave in the middle of his lectures because he often rambles. A lot of reading is required for this course. You will learn little to nothing about things on the exam from his lectures. In October you have to do a written exam based off memory.

Dan Karrpi is a great professor. Only a few things he needs to work on. Staying on topic and giving clear answers about his article review essay. I went to him twice and got nowhere, kind of irritating. Other than that, solid choice, if you use the study guides that are provided, you can save alot of time.

Dr. Karppi is great! He is a high level professor who teaches at Texas A&M. He won't dumb life down for you. You're in college and he expects you to act like it. He makes learning very easy. He tells you what's on the test, even gives you a study guide . You have to put in the study time to pass. He's very fair when grading.

It wasn't just the professor speaking, but students as well. If you don't understand something he's always willing to explain in further detail. There is one paper you must do to continue the class.

Prof. Karppi is the best professor who I met ever. He likes to help you anytime. If you read the textbook and take a note, you can get easy A. This class requires an article essay, and it isn't difficult. Whenever you need a help, you should visit his office during the office hour, and you can get wonderful feedback.

He's an alright professor. All the test questions come straight from the book. He technically is supposed to cover those questions in class but often gets distracted. He also is NEVER in his office. I tried to go see him several times during his office hours and he was not there. Easy class, he just doesn't really make time for his students.

Good lectures and is clearly passionate about history; I could feel the love for history in how he discusses it. Goes over the syllabus understandably. His grade is almost entirely dependent on the tests but he says what will be necessary to learn and goes over most of it in class. If you pay attention and take good notes you will pass.

Hes great! Awesome teacher, knows is stuff. Actually cares if you pass and gives many opportunities to pass. If you dont pass... its not his fault thats for sure. Never had a professor who gave so many helpful tools. Its a lot of work but its all to help you. Just do the homework and readings and youll do fine! 10/10 great professor!!!

Dr.K is a good teacher, but he teaches extra. What I mean is, you'll be graded on what you read in the book OUTSIDE of class. His lectures are more additional knowledge that doesn't usually show up on quizzes. But he will give you a paper to take notes on that literally tells you what to read and study and as long as you have that, you can't fail.

I have him for RELS 4389-11 ST: US Civil Religion. I can't believe I'm paying hundreds of dollars for this crap. HE LITERALLY DOES NOT TEACH. He is very laid back and doesnt grade hard. I had him for HIST 1301. What I have learned is that he doesnt give you many grade, so you have to ALWAYS do your best. Slacking off is not an option in Karrpis class. Also, do the study guides, the study guides are very helpful.

This was my easiest professor yet! He is very thorough with his lectures and you can tell he is actually passionate about teaching and not just here for a check or dragging himself to class. He gives you all the materials youll need to succeed so honestly if you have any trouble in this class or fail its on you. Great professor overall :)

I enjoyed my time in Prof Karppi's class. He doesn't gives much feedback on assignments, but be sure to reply to your classmates discussion for full points. Extra credit is given in his class so that's a plus. All the assignments and quizzes assigned requires you to read the chapters and the links he provide. The class is self paced and he's fair.

He's chill lectures aren't amazing can be boring but when students participate he gets excited and tries to be funnier. It's an easy course, not a big workload at all, and tests are based on the book only. Overall, it is a decent course, and he is a kind, chill instructor. Dr. Karppi is a very chiil down to earth professor. His lectures were insightful and helped during exams. Exams were all open book and open notes. Dr. Karppi is a really good professor, I really retained a lot of information from his lectures and reading the textbook at my own pace, as well as taking the exams at home at my own pace.
