Mr. King is one of the best professors I have ever had. I did not care for this class when I first started, but he is hilarious and makes it fun. You can tell he really cares about what he's teaching. He definitely makes you work for your grade, but if you pay attention, study, and contact him when you need help, you'll pass with flying colors.

If you gotta take this class (and you do), take it with this guy. Comm studies is uninteresting to me but DK somehow made it fun. Hilarious, laid-back guy. Don't skip, do your work, and you will pass.

This guy and the people he co teaches with are pretty funny people! Just don't skip class. practice your speeches. read the textbook vocab words before test. do workbook problems. Easy B if you put in minimal, required effort!

If you go to TXST and need your 1310 credit- TAKE DANIEL KING. DK turned a boring class into a cool one. Show up for class and study vocabulary out of the book when preparing for tests. I don't know if I was in love with him or wanted him to be my best friend. Either way- this is a great class and you'll actually learn a lot.

This professor is the greatest he's hilarious really easy going for me I had a 2hour session so talking lots of notes was a given but really all his class is a few notes, 4 test and 2 speeches and he grades very easy.

DK is amazing! He is very enthusiastic and cares if you're actually learning what he's teaching. He's a funny guy and definitely relates everything back to your life. I highly recommend taking him, if I could take him again I would. It's really easy to make an A as long as you do what's expected and study for your tests!

I loved his class. It was the only class where I felt comfortable to speak up in because there is no pressure to get answers right. He is a great teacher and will help with anything you need. I recommend that you take him for COMM 1310. The tests are kind of hard but that's the same for all communication tests.

Mr. King turned my 3 hours tuesday lecture into a fun one. The first half of class is boring as we just took notes. the second half after he gives an intermission was always group work and always fun. I laughed a lot in this class. 11/10 would take again

He actually cares about his students and learns all their names, which I thought was pretty neat. He also makes you feel really comfortable when giving a speech and gives very clear instructions.

DK is a must if you have to take communication. This class isn't in my major but DK alone made me excited and want to come to class everyday. He's a rad dude and is a great professor. His assignments are fair and his exams are fine if you pay attention. Again take this professor if you can!

DK is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. He makes every class worth going to, and keeps every lecture entertaining & engaging. All COMM classes follow the same rules as far as attendance, extra credit, assignments, ect. so you might as well pick the best teacher which is definitely DK!!! I would take his class again without a doubt.

One of the best professors you can have at TXST. Classes are structured to the guidebook, but he has different group activities in a lot of the classes to help you understand the material better. Required to buy book package from school, HOWEVER, if you do not write in it and make copies of the material you can return it later. Study for exams.

This prof was an easy A and he really cared for his students. He was go with the flow in class and his lectures were really good. The tests have some difficult questions, I would recommend reading the textbook and your notes several times before the tests. But other than that, Daniel was awesome!! Also, he's a BIG Captain America fan lol

One of the greatest teachers Ive ever had. Made class a great time. Gave extra credit for attendance and coming to office hours for help. Did not require much work outside of class and was really an easy A if you showed up, took notes, and did the required assignments. Definitely would take again. Wouldnt want to take comm1310 with anyine else.

He is the funniest teacher! He's also a really easy going, nice and, caring professor. and the fact he is 24 makes him super relatable. Just be aware, its hard to get A's on the tests.

D.K. Is easily my favorite proffesor of the semester. Abosolutely loved his attitude and humor towards all of his lectures. He is always accessible outside of class. Definitely made me enjoy the course.

This class was one I just had to take for my major and I expected it to be boring per usual. Daniel King made the class environment great and it was the only class I didn't dread coming to. Fun and down to earth , carefree zone.

Mr. King is a young man. Still rather fresh faced from school himself, which has allowed him to better relate to his young students, and the level of education he provided for my public speaking class was grand. If you want to have a professor go off on a spiel about the Avengers and D&D while he provides a quality education, you've got your man.

Mr. King cares so much about the success of his students. He is always available during office hours to help you out. Read the book if you want to do well on the exams. Overall, one of my favorite professors at Texas State! I took this class as an elective and am so glad I did. We had some creative speaking assignments that were so much fun!

Really goofy guy who makes the lectures interesting. The text book isnt really required but there is a workbook that comes with the textbook when you buy it and that is used a lot.

This class in enjoyable and tests can be studied for through using the guidebook where there are lists of what you need to know and practice questions, which are on the actual test. Its a very easy and fun class!

Daniel King is an enthusiastic, funny, student centered teacher who makes his class interesting and clearly stated on whats expected and how you can clearly make the grade you are willing to work for. Over all if there was a scale on 1-10 I would give him a 20 ! This class is a must take course !!!

Most of the work is done in lab with your TA, and although youre only allowed 3 free absences before point deduction its easy to come to lecture because he makes it go by really fast. Hes super funny and relates the class to our generation! Id take him again

Daniel is an amazing professor, his lectures are very enjoyable, he encourages and loves being asked questions that involve critical thinking. With all of that being said, small group is a hard class regardless of who you take it with you're gonna have to read and pay attention and work to get a good grade in this class.

the whole class is done in groups. individual test before actual group tests. study for these- they are challenging. final project is making a trailer, which was fun! gives you two free absences but use them carefully, if you go over he takes 10 points off your final grade. does not give extra credit, but he is hilarious and a wonderful professor

Easily the best professor at Texas State. Super entertaining and while the work is difficult, his ability to teach is unmatched so everything becomes way easier. Definitely recommend taking him whenever you get the chance. He has to follow the COMM department attendance policy any absence after the first two is 10 points off your final grade.

Absolutely love King! Attendance is not mandatory but you're missing out if you don't go. King makes learning extremely easy. This stuff is hard and can be confusing but he makes it relatable so it's easy to grasp. One of the best professors I've ever had- I will for sure be taking more of his classes!

But If you cant follow it, you wont do well. Attendance and buying the book textbook does matter. But I promise you wont regret taking classes with him.

He's passionate about the course material and he tries to make sure that you understand it, as opposed to just memorizing it for a test. He's a hilarious guy, but don't let that fool you; you'll need to put in a lot of work if you want to do well in his class.

King's lectures are creative, unique, down to earth, and always keep students on their toes with humor and interactive activities. Since I took small group, he left a majority of our attendance and accountability between our groups and its members. He managed to make a class I'd been dreading pretty painless. A++ would recommend.

I had King as my lecture professor. He is definitely humorous (though it can come off as try-hard) and he was usually pretty good at making a boring class somewhat interesting because he is very interactive.

King is one of my favorite lecturers at TXST. He is HILARIOUS and I never dreaded going to lecture. The labs were your basic core classes - speeches and group projects. NO TESTS - the final is optional, if you didn't go to lab a couple times. I loved this class and would definitely recommend.

Dr. King is fantastic and is an amazing lecturer. His small group comm class is a great take and the only downside to this course is that your grade is shared among the group. To help with this Dr. King does give the ability to kick a group member out (failing them) so do you work. Please take this class it's easy and king is fantastic.

Dr. King is a great professor. Ive had him multiple times and hes probably one of the most human professors youll have. He understands life happens and doesnt treat students like bugs. Hes a funny guy and if you participate, youll enjoy the class. Be warned, small group is a difficult class even with an amazing professor. Would recommend!

I just took Mr. King for COMM2330 Small Group Communication. It was an online course because of the COVID-19 pandemic and I must say he is fabulous. This is one of my last classes before I graduate and it has been a blast. Take him!!

There are speeches in this class ( either 2 or 3), they are not too hard to do - btw the speeches are in smaller classes, not the class with over 100+ students so if you have trouble giving speeches to large crowds, that should help a little. It is a very interactive class.

In small group comm, group projects are inevitable, but he's extremely equitable when it comes to problematic members and has a diplomatic process to handling those types of situations. Speeches have always scared me to death but theres only 2 and ones with a group so you only speak for a few seconds. Speeches were also very easy and all the TAs are super supportive and helpful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

COMM1310 was a lecture and lab combo that changed each class time. Contacted and interacted with TA more than professor due to # of students. Read the textbook and take notes to pass the quizzes - just paying attention in lecture wont cut it. One speech and one group presentation. He was fun and engaging when we did meet for lectures.

you will be in contact with your lab instructor for the entire semester instead of the actual professor. you will have to do one speech on your own and one with a group. quizzes are somewhat hard so make sure to pay attention in class. professor is really funny and he makes his lectures interesting. you get 3 free absences.

Mr. King is a funny guy who gave great lectures all semester. Take notes over the lectures and skim the textbook and you'll do fine on the quizzes. For the projects, just do the work and show up. Don't take advantage of the TAs, they will make your life difficult. Overall a great class that helped me in my real life relationships

Dr. King (or Daniel as he had his students call him) was one of the best professors I had. Though I saw my LA more often than him, he was a super fun professor and knew exactly how to appeal to his students. I would recommend him to anyone looking to take this class. He made a mandatory class worth it.

Love him. The IAs are a little harder on grading than the actual lecture teacher but still an easy class if you just do the work.

DK is an amazing professor. I took him for COMM 1310 as well as 2338, and he was great each time. Attendance is 'mandatory,' but you'll be fine if you don't make it to a few classes. He's very understanding, so if you have a problem, just communicate it with him. 100% hope to take him again one day.

King is AMAZING! He is so funny and his lectures despite being an hour 30 min long are entertaining! His quizzes are not hard at all as long as you take notes ON WHAT HE SAYS. Those will help a lot along with reading the provided guidebook on Canvas. TA's are super sweet. I had Victoria and she was the best ever! Take these professors if you can!

Great professor just be aware of the labs and who you get for your lab instructor it can either make it or break the class, loved the content but there is some busy work.

Overall, his lectures were pretty interesting and the lesson plans were straightforward. As long as you take notes and get the homework done, this class should be an easy credit.

Prof. King is very well spoken and puts a lot of humor into his lectures. Attend every lecture! There is always important information that's not in the slides (for the quizzes), or just funny relevant stories or jokes he makes that will brighten your day. Quiz answers are pretty much word for word from lecture and textbook.

Love DK. He made this class more fun and engaging. As long as you get a good lab instructor everything should be super easy. I had Miracle Levingston and she was amazing! super understanding and extremely caring. There are only 2 speeches, one group and one individual. There is one 6 question quiz due each week and an optional final.

You do have to do speeches in your labs (taught by TA) and group presentations but they're also easy. Overall, DK is one of the best profs I have ever had!

Chill professor, easy class. You'll do one speech by yourself and one group project speech. Most of the class is done with your lab. Only issue I'd say is that he opens assignments the day or day before they're due so you can't do much in advance.

We only saw King during the lectures, but they were quite good. He is clearly interested in the topic and finds ways to make the lectures engaging. I'll just say he was a bit quiet if you were seated in the back. Check the ratings of your lab instructor because that's who will be doing everything else, I've heard your experience can vary greatly.

His lectures were cool, but sometimes he would get too carried away by the topic. We spent most of the time in the labs, and he didn't do any grading it was the lab instructor. This class was very easy, but it depends on who your lab instructor is. If you can, I recommend picking Miracle as your lab instructor, she is very chill and an easy grader.

DK is an amazing professor who has a witty personality and a calming presence, he is very reasonable and it is apparent that he wants each of his students to succeed. His projects and assignments were both fun and relevant to the course material. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and strongly taking recommend him.

Good professor. His class is big so you will have a lab too. I heard some of the lab instructors weren't the best but I got lucky. There is a quiz pretty much weekly. The lecture notes help some but not with everything so going into the book helps. They were all online but timed. There was 2 speeches. One individual and one group. Finals optional

Attnedance should be prioritized on the lab portion of this class, that is where most of the important work is done! As long as you score average on quizzes and good on the lab assignments, you will be fine. Lab instructor is what truly makes or break this for people. Great professor though!

DK was great. He gave his lectures in a way that was super easy to understand, but we still always got out early. Quizzes for every chapter, but look out for the due dates, they change on you sometimes. DK is great, its the lab instructors you should look in to.

This class was split into lecture and lab, so depending on your lab instructor im sure the difficulty could change. During this class the lectures had required attendance (its done by pen and paper not ID scan) if you leave even 1 minute early lab instructors count you absent. Besides the attendance and sometimes boring talks it was an easy class.

Kaniel Ding is an amazing professor! Full of charisma and joy. He kept the class engaged, and he was very informative and knowledgeable. Expectations were clear and concise. Overall, great guy and fun lectures! Attached to my lecture as a lab, I had LaChance as an instructor.

Kaniel Ding was a great lecturer with better taste in music than most people will ever get the privilege of hearing in their lives. I was also in lab with Mia LaChance who I would completely recommend taking, as she is very caring and will do her best to make sure you succeed as long as you try. She is very chill and understanding 10/10

DK made the lectures enjoyable to go to from his awesome music taste to his fun way of teaching different communicative skills. I had Ashton Kielsing as my lab teacher and she was just as amazing. They both made the classrooms feel like safe spaces to be comfortable with the people around you.

DK was a great lecturer! I had Ashton as my lab instructor and I really loved her:) She always brought the energy and I just know she'll be a great professor someday! There is one speech that you do by yourself and a group speech at the end of the course. It is reliant on your group as a whole to get a good score.

Daniel King is the BEST professor! He makes lectures interesting and talks about them in ways you can interpret. There isn't really any homework, just group projects. He is so easy to talk to and very lenient. I would 100% take this class again. Only 2 tests and gives study guides.

Really funny professor, and it was a lecture heavy class. Group projects were a thing, but the TA's were great. TA Kiesling was very nice and helpful, and wanted us to succeed. There were extra credit opportunities!

Great teacher had a lot of fun taking his small group communications class. He seemed to really care about the material and made it fun to come to class.

Just took him for online class. Kept us on our toes for sure but projects were really fun and he was very understanding. Most engaged I've been in online class.

DK is awesome! Super funny and chill guy. Highly recommend. Attendance is mandatory, but he often ends class early! He also grades by a point system rather than a % system, which I honestly prefer bc if you get a low grade on a quiz, it doesn't bring down your average. There are quizzes each week after most lectures, but they're open-book & short.

Awesome professor. You absolutely will have no regrets taking him. He really cares that you understand the core of the class, in my case speaking, and will do a fantastic job of getting you there. Was an amazing time, couldn't recommend him more.

Extremely easy class and great prof. We mainly dealt with the TA's which will depend on who you get.

Amazing professor! This was one of my favorite classes. Classes were always fun and I looked forward to them. The exams can be difficult, but as long as you read and study you'll be good!
