Please take this professor if you need to take micro lab he is excellent. He has a lot of patience he demonstrate the experiments and then we would do them on our own. He explains very well, he has an acent but not a problem to understand. Bcc should hire more professors like professor Kalanguro
This professor was very helpful, He is highly recommended by me.

This professor is one of the best lab professors at BCC. He explains things well, has lots of patience, and is extremely helpful. His quizzes aren't hard if you at least read the chapter once. He makes you do a pre-lab report from the BSC1005 textbook, but it's not that hard. Take him, you won't regret it and you'll learn a thing or two.
he is so boring. all he does is read right off the ppts. he has a very thick accent, and though he speaks a bit slower to make up for it, it still makes sitting in lecture (let alone learning) a chore. his tests are too hard, but you have to memorize a lot for each test since it covers quite a few chapters. if you can, take Prof. Khan instead!
If I to describe this professor in one word, it would be money. If I had to use five words, it would be Mr. Money In The Bank. Cool guy, has an accent but understanding him was not a problem. Amazing hand-eye coordination, perhaps the best I've ever seen.
great!!! very helpful. take him for bsc1005L.
He is an awesome teacher, and a wonderful person!!He loves what he does, wants everyone to see the greatness that is around them. He wants everyone to be a scientist! I took him over the summer his lecture and lab. I dropped the lecture because I had 17 credit hours, but passed the lab with a B.I can?t wait to see him in the fall. Yup I am in his c
Good teacher, but not very exciting. Boring lectures that put you to sleep. Does email notes and if you pay attention gives answers for the test. Seems bored with his job and doesn't connect with students.
Super hard. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS CLASS IS THAT THE BOOK IS NOT REQUIRED. If you don't want to take bio, definitelty don't take him. After two minutes of trying to understand what he is saying, you lose interest. He has a very heavy Indian accent. I ended up dropping the class. What a waste of time.
HORRIBLE. Reads off powerpoints and expects you to know the material. Emails notes but the notes have nothing to do with what is actually on the test. He has a very very very heavy accent and had a hard time understanding.
Very easygoing teacher just show up to class. The book is rarely used. Just listen to the lecture and you will pass. He is an excellent professor. The tests were pretty easy if you went over the notes and read the chapters prior. Im a slacker and i had a relaxed time
I LOVED his class! He is a cutie, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He has an accent so you may want to sit close. I didn't have a problem understanding him, but I could understand why some people would. I enjoy the subject, so for me the class was interesting and easy.
Prof. Kulungara is a very helping teacher, if he sees you are trying and you care at all, he will even let you redue assignments to help your grade. I thought he was funny at times, but his accent made many things confusing, without my book( which his notes directly from it) I wouldnt of had a chance. viral sounds like wire..He helped me alot :)
He made bio easy to understand but most of all he truly is a great teacher, understanding doesnt talk to fast isnt pushy and has humor to true professor the kind we need
EXCELLENT TEACHER, TEACHING MATERIALS ARE AWESOME - HE WILL BREAK THE MATERIAL DOWN TO YOUR LEVEL SO U CAN UNDERSTAND, WILL RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. VERY DEDICATED AND GOOD AT WHAT HE TEACHES.
Excellent, whatever U do make sure U attend class, stay focus & do whatever he tells U to do and read. Easy class if U follow the syllabus. Very patient & understanding. Someone U can talk to always give encouraging words. He don't believe in failure.
Was my first time doing biology ever, and he made it simple and even interesting. Uses good examples and tries to share his excitement about science. Was a little hard to pay attention sometimes, but that was more my fault I think. Teaches evolution, but doesn't seem to care whether or not you agree with him-good. Overall, I'de reccommend him.
Professor is very knowledgeable.Like his style of short answers on exams. Highly recommend him for teaching MicroBiology.
Avoid!! He has a very stron accent and read's off his powerpoints thoughout the class. His notes are not helpful for the extremely hard tests which he uses from the authors of the textbook.
HIS ACCENT WAS VERY STRONG, SO IT MADE IT KIND OF HARD FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. SCIENCE IS A HARD SUBJECT FOR ME & I THINK HE IS AS EASY AS SCIENCE GETS.
Professor K is the bestin BC colleg for 2010 and 2010l.I don't know what word to use to discribe professor Daniel. The only I can say about him: He has the prefix "super" such as super-excellent, super........etc.
Really bad teachers has a really strong accent. Tells you one thing to study but not on test.
Very easygoing teacher just show up to class. The book is rarely used. Just listen to the lecture and you will pass. He is an excellent professor. The tests were pretty easy if you went over the notes and read the chapters prior. Sends you notes so you don't have to take any. Great professor!
I would most def. recommend him to anyone who needs this class for lab and lecture. In lab he tries to help you as much as he can. Quizzes are easy only if you study. In lecture it can get pretty boring. He gives reviews for his tests which helps ALOT! Just study! Great guy!
I recommend him for microbiology - it's a hard subject to begin with but he makes it quite easy and understandable. He even tells jokes sometimes. Lecture tests are quite easy if you study, but you have to study pretty hard for the lab, but he helps out as much as he can.
Easy class. However, he's not a great teacher. If you want to learn anything, I don't recommend him. If you want an easy A, then take him. Don't buy the textbook - I didn't buy it and I got an A. He e-mails notes which has the info for the tests. He takes attendance every single day, so you'll need to come to class.
He is very eager for you to learn the material and earn an A in his class. Always very pleasant and will answer questions without embarrassment.
This teacher was one of the worst I ever had. started the first half of the summer with a different teacher who was very good I had over 100 av in the lecture and lab, then we switched to kulangara whos uses only power points from the book and doesnt teach you anything you must teach yourself and his test are very hard w/no prep ended with my1st B
If you can avoid this teacher than I would, he is very hard to understand and you will learn almost nothing. YOU MUST buy the book as he expects you to know it word for word. His tests questions could come from anywhere. It seems as if he doesnt really care to teach you. Glad its over
He's a nice guy, however he won't go out of his way for his students. Tests are okay. His lectures are pretty boring and kind of useless since you have access to the slides at home. The lab was easy.
Class is boring.... (YAWN) And his quizes are not easy like one would expect them to be, even if you do study the lab from the previous class its still very hard and not 100% clear on the questions asked. If you really really like Biology the take the lab with him and if not then I suggest someone else. Aside fomr him teaching he seems.. Nice.
he was a okay teacher lab is easy lets you basically do whatever you want. you have to study to get a good grade in the lecture overall i recommend him for lab but not for lecture unless you really want to study!
Great guy all around. If you pay attention in class then you should have no problem with any of his exams. He teaches from power points that are straight out of the book. If you get tripped up on something he has no problem helping you out. It can get a bit boring but if you can keep your mind on track then you'll be fine.
he is quite a good teacher. If you take good notes especially those he writes on the board, and study then you should be fine.
He is a very nice guy and a good person. His quizes and testes are very hard, questions are not clear. But, if he sees you are studing hard, you will get a good great. He doesn't have a "mean bone" as a pr.Obenauf and he is "hot"! I got an "A".
I wouldn't recommend taking him to my worst enemy. He's so boring; two hours with no break. He expects students to be scientists in 6 weeks. He gives the same workload in a 6 week course as a 4 month course. His tests are very hard, with no time to study between exams. He gets annoyed when you ask for help. You'll work as hard to get a D as an A.
He is probably the best science teacher I have ever had. Unlike most of the science teachers I have had, in any grade, I learned a lot from his class. All you need to do is take notes and study. When it comes to studying the notes, the best way to study is to actually understand it rather than remembering vocab words, trust me, it will help.
Didn't use the textbook, all the notes were from his powerpoint on the blackboard for you to print. No pre-test or anything. Overall very hard because you have to basically teach your self. Strong accent which makes it difficult to understand.
In order to pass his class, you have to really study HARD and know the concepts. You had to read the book as your bible and try to understand everything the book has to say prior to attending class or you will be lost in lecture. He will throw in some questions on the exam that if you are not careful in reading the chapter, you will miss it.
Do not take his class if you are a full time student having 12 or more credits for the semester. Only take him if you are a part time student.
He is a Good teacher, yes he have an accent so what. He is encouraging, helpful, caring. It's a science class for health science major you have to do your part to pass that's how it work, get it science course..
Great professor, he lecture, he give review. He does have an accent but when you get use to him you wont even notice it. He is always encouraging, and whilling to help, the subject is hard you just have to studdy to pass, just study daily or a week before the test and you will and should get at least a B
i just took his class in the summer and i may didnt have a high grade but it was cause i didnt study.Trust me take his class u will like it!!!
Just finished Summer term...It was intense but doable! He is a real teacher, dedicated, and strait to the point. He posts his class powerpoint, gives 4 Tests, extra credit activity, and test review. You just need to pay attention and study and will get at least an B guarantee!!!
Fantastic professor! Biology was extremely easy to understand thanks to his teaching style. The tests are absolute walk-in-the-parks as long as you pay attention during his entertaining lectures. I highly recommend that you take his class if you can.
He is awesome. I took him for all my bio classes. You will learn in his class no matter what. Even students that do not care, will learn. He knows his stuff and repeats it a lot, there is lots of quizzes. He gives extra credits, will drop at least 3 quizzes. Tests are pretty easy. highly recommend if you want A. The best prof. at BCC
Great Professor but this is a hard course so it involves lots of studying.
Very Good professor. Take notes and the multiple choice tests are very easy. Pay attention in class, study for an hour or two before the test. A guaranteed! Easy class but very informative too!
TAKE HIM! I love Him! he's one of the rare professors that WANTS his students to pass. Lets face it Microbiology is not an easy subject period but as long as you pay attention/study off his powerpoints you'll pass.& he does have an accent but after a while I got used to it & understood him.AND he doesn't ask Hard quest. he tries to make it simple
The professor is really good and knows the material and takes time teaching it to you. the labs are straight forward and the quizzes he gives are based on the labs you do. very good teacher you just might have a little trouble from time to time understanding him
This is a very hard class. The Prof does want his students to pass, but the tests are not easy and the effort is on you. Study study study. Tests are very technical - nothing obvious. Attendance is part of the grade. The book is not required, but if you can afford it, it will definitely help explain. Use all resources. HAAAAAARDDDDD class.
easy
I took professor Kulangara, for lecture and lab 2015 Winter. Microbiology is a tough subject. You must study if you want to pass. The professor is really nice. He cares about his students. His test are tough but if you study you can pass. He does have an accent. I recommend reading the book as well as his power points. But the book is not required.
Professor Daniel knows his material. I had him for both, lecture and Lab. For Lab, if you miss more than one lab, you'll fail! his quizzes are NOT easy, but if you study and pay attention, you'll do great. There is no extra credit. For class, you MUST study. He explains well in class and make everything clear. He's the best. Study, study, study...
in the beginning of the class everyone failed until he started putting up study guides. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACER
There's a quiz for every class. With a 20 page packet, you're never sure what to study. Request a study guide if you want to pass since it makes up majority of your grade. He drops one lab & quiz. He says he wants us to pass and he's nice, but the quizzes screwed many people over until he recently gave a study guide. Easy class except for the quiz.
To start off I would like to say that this course is very difficult and requires a lot of study time . This is a critical thinking course which requires THINKING no straight forward questions . Kulungara is extremely sweet and try's to help you understand the material as much as he can . But the effort is in you
Very hard course !! No straight forward questions on tests ! He try's to help you as much as he can but you must study your butt off ! On his reviews he points out key words that he wants you to know the concept of . People get upset because they want to be spoon fed with answers but he makes you work for it . Not easy must study like crazy
Took him for lab . Total of 6 quizzes. I like to describe his quizzes as bipolar meaning that one quiz could be ridiculously easy and the next would be tricky which is why it's important to always study for those . Important to listen to him when he explains the labs because he says stuff that will be in quiz but not in the book . Must study.
His lab is a cumulative lab meaning everything you learned from day one . Literally everything is in the book and the book describes and explains the labs well and the pictures are helpful too . If you study there shouldn't be a reason why you don't get an A on his lab final . He gives you a lot of opportunities to raise your lab grade .
All I'm going say is if you don't plan on studying really hard like 15 hours a week do not take this class you will waste your time . Critical thinking questions . Very nice guy and funny
He's an okay teacher . The only thing about him that is aggravating is the fact that you can't understand what he is saying half of the time. But he really tries to help you . But it's really up to you !
I took him for MCB, he is a wonderful professor, he is engaging, gives reviews for test, test are straight forward, he will stay back after class to explain stuff. At first I wasn't so sure if i would stay in his class, but after the first class it was a done deal. Just make sure you attend class and you will be good.
He gives pop quizzes after every chapter. However he has an accent so its really hard to understand. I started failing. what he put on the study guide was not on the exam, when i emailed him about it. He acted like he did not care. So i withdrawal out of the class. HORRIBLE TEACHER
Cool professor, cool overall class but he's not very clear as to what he excepts. Quiz every class, he does posts a review on D2L, which helped a lot so make sure you go over the reviews and know the stuff. Record EVERYTHING. The stuff you get to see and do is really cool. Good luck if you take it! Just study and you'll do fine.
Im a nursing student so this level of class is normal. Micro isnt an easy subject, but Mr Kulangara wants you to succeed. Gives extra credit, study guides. A bit hard to understand sometimes, but doesnt mind repeating himself and will answer questions. Great guy so glad I took him for Micro!
Great! Lets you leave early once you finish the experiment. 6 easy quizzes based off previous labs, if you can't pass those you didnt open your book at all. Good feedback. Will let you attend his earlier lab class if you can't make yours. So, if you can't make your 1pm, lets you take his 8am lab instead so you don't get marked absent.
Take him! Kind, gives extra credit. Lecture heavy. Read the book before class; he goes quick. Gives a study guide, and if you follow that and his lecture topics there's no reason not to pass. He talks fast at times, but will repeat himself, gives great feedback if you have questions. Makes complex topics easy to understand.
Study study and study, I took this class for the summer most difficult class I've ever had in my life. His exams are hard for lecture but his lab is okay. The majority of my class failed the class he WILL NOT CURVE YOUR GRADE!! If you do want to take him you'll have to give it 100% your all. His accent is so hard to understand! Take someone else!
His accent makes learning quite challenging. I still have nightmares of him saying ""Guanine" and "Cytosine" with a heavy accent. I'm telling you the DNA chapter will be the toughest due to the complex words mixed with the heavy accent.
Yes this class is challenging like any other microbiology class. However, if you put in the effort you will pass. To pass I suggest listening to his lectures, reading the text book and watching Youtube videos. Some of the youtube videos actually use the same text that this class uses.
Professor Kulangara has good PowerPoints that cover all that is on his tests and quizzes. As long as you study his PowerPoints and your notes, there shouldnt be a problem passing his tests and class. If you speak to him during his office hours, he makes sure that you arent struggling and gives advice as to how to bring up your grade.
Very Good Professor, He knows the content, facilitates well does well with the topic..... His power points are relevant to the material that should be learnt and tests are related to the topic, he gives extra credit, He makes learning microbiology easy and I understood the topics well. He gives pop quizzes but these help to understand the content.
I took him for bio lab he is the best at explaining the procedures. also, there are quizzes at the beginning of each labs. he drop the lowest quiz, there is one final, and please make sure you do the lab reports he doesn't check them but at the end it'll worth it.
micro isn't that hard once understanding what you need to know , but this professor is not making it easy to understand when explaining things mostly goes off topic!! you think reading is enough Good luck
He's an okay professor his accent makes it a little hard to understand but he is will repeat himself. There is a quiz for each chapter, 4 exams (includes final and no midterm), there is one group extra credit assignment. He gives a review for each quiz and exams. Micro is hard so study study study!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He makes the subject way harder than it should be. It was extremely hard, solely because of the quizzes that are very specific to the experiments we did in class. His reviews are too broad to know what questions might be asked. Literally the hardest class Ive ever taken. STUDY HARD!
He is an awesome professor. Well respected and he has an incredible knowledge.
I found him to be an excellent professor. He is very knowledgable and gives a number of quizzes which I think helps you to study for the exams. His exams are fair, there are no "trick" questions. Had him for both lecture and lab and would highly recommend him.
Show up to class and try to read and understand the online ppts. Be sure to take notes those will help you on both the quizzes and exams. There is also a group project that's extra credit and chapter reviews so use them. Study! Study!Study! because its not a easy class but his reviews will help.
Amazing professor. He is well respected by his students. He really cares about his students and frequently motivates us. Great lectures, he makes a hard topic, easier to understand. I highly recommend him! However, there are many quizzes, in addition to the exams, so if you do bad on them, it will really affect your grade. Extra credit is offered!
Take him, his one of the best professors for microbiology! He made his labs fun and quick. As soon as your done with the days lab, you can leave. There is a midterm and final but he will prepare you for it throughout the semester. Make sure you study and give it your best.
Starts out easy but then gets difficult each test. Make sure you STUDY. Spend a couple of hours studying and you will pass this class.
His accent make its very tough to understand what he is saying , he know his material but when it comes down to tests the study guides does not help its only one worded words for the study guide . Even if you study the test are still tricky . Only gives 1 extra credit for 5 points , Quizzes every time we finish with a chapter ,3 exam & a final .
This is one of the worst professors I've ever taken at Broward College, he makes the quizzes really hard and the exams are no joke. He will literally give you a study guide that does not pertain to the test. Worst professor ever he feels as though you're studying to become a scientist.
This is the worst Professor that I've ever taken I believe it's not fair even as we had to transition online with the corona virus that he still made his exams extremely hard. I would not advise anyone who works and goes to school to take this professor he makes the review that has nothing to do with the test.
Professor K, is funny, respectful, and inspirational. He wants you to succeed in life. You have to really pay attention and take notes because his exams are based on his lecture, he recommends the book but it's not mandatory. He doesn't answer emails right away, he prefers you to ask after class or visit on office hours. He gives extra credit.
Very difficult to understand, just reads powerpoints.
He is very sarcastic when he is ready but is offers to meet with you during his office hrs. if you have questions. Textbook you don't need everything you need is on his PPT's. DO NOT pay attention to his "reviews" just read everything on the PPT's I almost failed trusting his reviews. Quizzes have tricky wording so beware and goodluck!
The labs were the usual you will need the lab manual he explains everything before every experiment. The quizzes are very tricky and the final and practical is hard so buckle up. Study well and the forces be with you I barely made it myself if I were you I would avoid taking him and find somebody else.
Hes very understanding as long as your honest. He works with you so you can understand the material more but you have to study as soon as you get the material!!!! If your taking this class for the health science field then you should start getting comfortable with your studying habits.
This was my first bc class as a dual student. Do your best and you will get an A, it doesnt come easy here. He lets you out earlier than the time. I used a textbook which helped a lot with the quizzes but it isnt necessary. He is lecture heavy however he has an accent but it is understandable. He happily answers questions. I learned a lot. No EC.
I feel very frustrated with this class. Dr. Kulangara is a smart and good teacher but he pretty much gave up on actually teaching before the 2nd to last test. Only posts audios for ppts but in my case I can't even access them. Didn't ask if this was even something students wanted. Test study guides suck and aren't helpful.
This is the worst professor I have ever encountered in place my 18 years being in school. At first he seemed understanding and nice but during this pandemic , he made microbiology much harder than it was suppose to be . He does not answer email questions appropriately , he missed 80% of the zoom class meetings. Do no take this man please save you
Dont even bother taking this professor. He is not understanding at all. He will give you a hard time. He doesnt teach at all he just reads off the PowerPoint. He doesnt care were in a pandemic he told us learning is learning . He doesnt make anything easy for you just harder.
Do not take this professor, he doesnt teach. Just records himself reading power points
This is the worst prof ever. run..... because this prof does not help you when you need it, he honestly doesn't care about his students at all . He puts this class harder thn it looks. i really regret taking him I wasted my money and my time sigh. note: Choose a better prof. please save yourself.
Don't waste your time & money. He doesn't care about us and doesn't teach. You will basically have to teach yourself.
Terrible class. Hard to communicate with him. And he was unavailable during every office hours. Exams are not easy and lies when asked about certain things like how many questions will be on it. Questions are vague. You will have to teach yourself, if you don't you will not pass.
You'll essentially be teaching yourself for most of the class. He will tell you to not pay attention to reviews like these but do not listen to him. He barely gives extra credit and he uses pre recorded audio lectures which are a snooze fest. If you choose to still take him youtube will be your best friend. Good Luck
please dont do it to yourself! find anyone else but him!
I am shocked of these reviews! This professor is one of the best at broward college! He is so great at teaching and makes it so easy to pass his class! You need to study of course but thats with every class! He even gives you reviews for EVERY TEST AND QUIZ! He is truly a great professor and anyone who doesnt think so, didnt put in any effort!
Professor Kulangara has been by far the best teacher I've had. He is very knowledgeable, answers all your questions, and really cares about his students. He gives study guides for quizzes & exams, no HWs. I wish he would teach other classes because I wouldn't hesitate to register with him again. Thank you professor for a great semester of learning!
His a very good professor and makes sure you understand everything his teaching. But speaking up in his class gets you more help. I didnt pass because of personal reasons but his an awesome professor that I will take again.
Dr. Kulangara is a kind and patient individual. The class itself is interesting & he hand feeds you everything you need to know for his quizzes and exams as well as creates study guides. With that being said DO NOT underestimate the difficulty of this UPPER LEVEL class. Take good notes and learn the concepts being taught.
Assignments: 10 quizzes (10 q's 10 pts each), 3 exams (50 q's 50 pts each, with 2-3 extra credit questions on each exam), final (100 pts), & an extra credit PowerPoint presentation (5 pts, short and easy). Professor Kulangara follows the dates on the syllabus almost to a T. He's super well organized & all quiz/exam info comes from his lectures.
Professor K is one of the best professors I've had. He truly cares for his students and is invested in their success. Microbiology is not an easy subject and is difficult no matter who the professor is. Show up, pay attention and take notes and you will pass this course. I left his class with a wealthy of knowledge.
Idk how his reviews are so bad because his class is great and not that hard.
I recommend this professor he really cares that everybody succeeds in his lecture and lab. He offers chapter quizzes to help improve your overall grade. Most Micro professors at BC only have 4 exams scheduled towards your final grade. He offers extra credit. Show up, pay attention, take notes, and study. Easy A. He’s very funny & always helpful.
HE SEEMS LIKE A GOOD GUY BUT HIS ACCENT MAKES EVERYTHING MORE DIFFICULT ALSO THE REVIEW HE GIVES IS NO HELP BECAUSE HALF OF THE STUFF ISNT ON THE TEST HE ALSO DOESNT CURVE GRADES NO MATTER WHAT SO IF YOU HAVE A 68 HE WILL STILL GIVE U THAT D WHICH SUCKS OVERALL HE IS NICE AND UNDERSTANDING BUT HIS CLASS WAS DIFFICULT
He reads power points in class and that is it. You would have to learn on your own, quiz/exams are purposely very tricky. He said that there was extra credit, but the "extra credit" is calculated in to the grades, so if you do not complete it, your grade will go down.
Only reads power points, attendance/book is a must, takes points off for everything, no extra credit, ... The school should definitely look in to him regarding taking care of his own.
Doesn't give assignments, only tests and quizzes. Spends the whole class lecturing, accent is a bit thick but gets used to it. Exams are not that hard but the final is cumulative. Tough class, good luck
Interesting class overall, I didn't use the textbook at all, get ready to take notes. If you pay attention and study you should be fine. There is a small group project he has you do on a bacteria/virus that you can pick + present to the class. Easy A. Great professor overall, if you have any questions he is available.
The reviews don't help that much but you really have to study to pass this class
Very knowledgeable and passionate about his class. Very kind and cares deeply about his students. Small accent but still easy to understand. Would definitely recommend him to anyone take micro!
I'm honestly surprised to see he only has a 3.5 when he is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are entertaining and even though we have weekly quizzes for each chapter, they are very easy and there is no reason why you should get less than a B as he posts a study guide WEEKS in advance; same for exam. Just go to lecture and take notes
Professor Kulangara lecture was great last semester TR.11:00 . Every note he write is what will be on the quizzes A++. How could he be rated 3.5 more like 10.5
If you want your gpa to go down then take him . Find another professor !!
Professor Kulangara's lectures are engaging, and he provides great study resources like quizzes and exam reviews. Though attendance is mandatory, it's worth it - use Unstuck study alongside the textbook to ace this class.
He's a good professor but take everything he writes on the board as gospel—it'll be on exams and quizzes. He cuts a lot from PowerPoints, so pay attention to lectures. If you struggle with test-taking, avoid his class. His questions are confusingly worded, and many students complained. He gives study guides, but they're too broad to be very helpful
Some say he's kind… must've been the wind.. He's not outright rude, but he does come off a tad arrogant. When you ask him a question, he looks at you like you're inferior. The class was tough you basically teach yourself. He only lectures using the whiteboard and doesn't respond to emails, so don't expect much outside support.
His quizzes are super easy, and he gives a review sheet of what to study for every quiz and exam. You just have to study, and though the reviews are broad, there is nothing on the exams that isn't on the PowerPoint or biology textbooks he provides. He is a sweet professor and will extend deadlines if not everyone has submitted an assignment.
SKIP HIM, DON'T TAKE HIM, RUNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!! he is very hard to understand because of his accent (be ready to teach yourself everything), his tests are unfair and very difficult. has a quiz every week and a tough research paper. if you will be a good student, put a lot of effort, but receive a 68% he will still fail you the whole course!!!!!!
please DO NOT take his class! He is such a bad teacher, doest explain anything, has an attitude, thinks that he is better than his students, and his tests are extremely hard!!! It is very hard to understand what he says so be ready to learn by yourself. RUN RUN RUN! YOU'LL REGRET EVERY SECOND IF YOU'LL TAKE HIM!!!!!
WILL FAIL YOU.
The class is difficult but if you dedicate yourself you will be fine. I'm just glad to have passed the class. There's a quiz every week based on 3-5 labs. Multiple choice midterm, and written final practical. I do believe that he tries to trick you on some quizzes and other stuff. Good luck! Your life is not defined by a test. You will make it!
Strict but cool at the same time. Lectures were heavy, fast paced and, lots of notes. Come ready to learn no time to sleep. Extra Credit is rareeee only once in my class. He do have an accent but it's not hard to understand. Quiz everytime we end a chapter or 2.
Professor Kalungara goes above and beyond to ensure his students are set up for success. His exams and quizzes are based on the PowerPoint slides and class notes, so if you dedicate time, you will do well. I had surgery during the semester and the recovery was rough. Thanks to his encouragement and flexibility, I earned an A in lecture and lab.
Professor Kulangara is one of the best professors I've ever had. There's no homework, but you need to stay on top of quizzes, exams, and a research paper. Always take notes, make Quizlets, and study, he offers extra credit, and if you do the work, sit in the front of the class, he will recognize your efforts. I promise you'll do well—I got an A.
He was a great professor! The lectures are VERY important, treat everything he writes on the board like it's made of gold bc it will be on the quiz or exam. There was no homework so doing well on the quizzes and exams is super important. You definitely need to study but an A/B is definitely achievable with studying. Would definitely take him again
