He makes the class really interesting. He teaches well . His lecture are coherent. His test are challenging yet fair. What you see is what you get. I recommend him to the WOOOOOOORLD.

Be wary of raters that can't communicate in English.Maybe their problems stem from something other than the instructor?Kurylo is very fair, clear, and his exams directly relate to the lectures.You need to read the book, too.

Definitely challenging but interesting. Most people don't expect the biology to prevail which is the biggest downfall of most students. I have taken other bio courses and this one is not nearly as intense. Hes great professor and gives generous curves.

I must agree with the previous rater. That test was a real kisser. This prof. is a dichotomy. He's really clear with the lectures and you learn alot, but for some reason he feels the need to give extremely difficult test. If you wan to take him audit the class.

This prof is great! It is true that his tests are tough, but it is because the material he is teaching is tough. Take a good note (including his stories). His lecture is very, very clear and interesting. I have never get bored.

It's a tough class with very tough exams. Study mostly the notes, and you have to read the book, too. Plus Side: Very interesting professor, and a very interesting class you'll never fall asleep in.

Tough class. Don't jump into this class without basic undersanding on this field. That is the reason why some students say this class is too difficult. Take psy45 first, then things will be much easier. This professor is really smart and interesting.

He doesn't give the benefit of the doubt. I had a 96 average between 3 exams and because i got in the 80s on one test he gave an A-. He doesn't judge you on anything besides exams.

Very funny, a lot of interesting stories are told in his classes. The amount of work is not really that much more than any other class you would take. Tests are not surprising because they are based on class work and text. I loved his classes so much I took him 4 times. You wont regret taking him.

i dont know y everyone hates him so much, he's my favorite class this semester. it's not easy u have to study but if u study you can do well, and he curves, if ure not into bio dont take it but if u are its really a fascinating class and he teaches it very well, hes very clear. i would recommend him but only if ure not lookin for an easy way out.

Study! 4 non-cumulative tests. This class is all memorization, if you can do that you'll breeze through it. If you can't, don't take this class. Love the prof, he's laid back & really works in the field. He curves up so if the class screws up (first test, before they drop) he'll add points to everyone. Memorize *everything*. Captions, Sidebars etc.

Tough grader but fair. Everything is non cumulative. He knows his stuff and loves his profession. Doesn't like to talk to students though after class from what I hear.

One of the BEST teachers of all times. He knows his stuff, and if you pay attention, so will you. Tests are from the notes and the book. I can't emphasize this enough, so I'll put it in upper case: TO GET AN A, YOU MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND EVERY LINE IN THE BOOK AND YOUR NOTES. The class is well worth it. He has an amazingly intriguing personality.

Interesting course not that difficult just take down notes. Only asks around 1 question on the test dealing with the book. Very helpful professor, if you want to ask him questions. I shouldn't stress his class, just read the requirenments and u can easily get an A.

One of the true scholars. If you want to learn, and are willing to put your time into it, he's the way to go. He's a walking encyclopedia and he expects you to be the same. Here's a word of advice: DO YOUR READING. SKIMMING THE BOOK WON'T HELP. MEMORIZE & UNDERSTAND HIS NOTES. That's the only way to get an A. He's a very fair grader. Great teacher.

He is an Okay professor I took him for Neuropsych and he gave me a B. His test were hard but I got to know his style and I took again for Psych 65.1 and I got an A+. So all you have to do is take notes from the board and from what he say and from the book and memorize them. and You'll do good.

All you need to do for this class is be able to take good notes from lecture because that is all the test is. Just memorize your notes and the test is simple and you can just forget everything after because the tests aren't cumulative. I ended up with an A- and didn't need to look in the textbook once because everything is straight from lecture.

Very hard professor. I had to take him because it was my last class. I struggled and studied very hard. And failed his exams. But he passed me in the end. I went to tutoring with him so he knew I was trying. He is not a bad person but its a very hard class. I wouldnt take him again. Way too hard for me!

I regret buying the book because the book is extremely in depth for what he covers. Most of the material on exams is based on class lecture. Exams are tough become some of his answers require ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE MATERIAL AND HOW TO APPLY IT TO REAL SITUATIONS. I dont think he's extremely helpful but he is extremely knowledgeable of the material

he is great. very knowledgeable so you learn a lot. you have to put in a lot of work to do well. his test are mostly based on the lectures so go to class even though he doesn't take attendance, but you still have to read the book. his tests are very weird so you have to understand his format to do well. i enjoyed his class. take him but study,study

he is hard as hell. but interesting, clear and, at times, funny. In the exam you actualy have to think and that's y some say that they are unfair. But this is what you do in college-think. So don't be afaraid but be ready for some work...

Took him for psy 65.1 and psy 65 and if your good with memorization than this is for you. Fair grader and gives a curve if the entire class as a whole did bad. The curves are in every exam. Four exams and not cumulative. Good guy, there to help and his kind of funny with his weird stories. Yes he has a lot of strange stories.

I took intro to physio psy and neuro psy with him and I enjoyed both of them. This is a class for intelligent people. So if your not take a another class. No point in buying the text book. 95% of his exams are exactly from class notes. Take very good notes, study 2-3 days prior to the exam and you'll do well. Four exams, not cumulative, curves.

VERY detailed exams. The stuff you don't expect to be on the test will be on the test. He's a nice guy and has some quirky and funny stories to help the class move along because it can get boring. Only 4 tests, nothing else which sounds good but you have to know every piece of the chapter if you want to get good grades on it!

whoever is complaining about this class being hard: you must have not really tried to study. seriously. He is a funny professor and if you go to class (both this and human neuro), take decent notes, and actually read and study the material, you'll do fine.

I loved this class! The material used in this course is pretty difficult but he does a great job at explaining everything. Also, he makes class fun with these little random morbid jokes. He is a great professor but his tests are HARD, so prepare to be best friends with the text book. Total of 4 tests each 25% of your grade.

Textbook use is a must. He is interesting but only if you listen -if you don't you'll find yourself asleep. Great Professor if your interested in Psychology, he is very helpful if you a approach him with q's

Pay attention, take good notes (not just what he writes on board) and at least skim the book...you WILL get a good grade. Very clear with his explanations, even of complex processes. His exams are really not that difficult if you take the time to study. Flash cards will become your best friend. ASK questions in class! Plus, he's hilarious.

Funny Professor. Kinda quirky, but he delivers the material in a way that its interesting. Short answer exams that are straight forward and he give you some slack on the answers. Would take him again!!!

I took both physiological psych and human neuropsych with Prof Kurylo and both classes were amazing. He is very sarcastic which makes the learning fun. Pay attention in class, read the assigned chapters and you should do well. Smart guy, take him.

Extremely interesting class. Explains things well. Tests arent easy but he cuts a lot of slack int he grading. Your grade is just your tests, so if you dont do well on one tests, you'll get a bad grade on the course.

I took his class, and enjoyed it. He gave curves and I got a B without studying much. You really have to listen in class, and take notes. Very intelligent guy. He makes a few jokes which are missed by most of the class.

He is awesome. grades are only tests. attendance is 4%, but i recommend you attend every class because he explains the information thoroughly. He gives out lecture notes a few days before the exam, memorize it and you'll do good. His tests are short answer, but some require only one word answers. This is my third time taking one of Kurylo's classes and I am still very happy with his teaching and testing techniques. The test are fairly difficult but there is always a curve & as long as you are a good note taker you will be fine. Also, read the stories and diagrams in the textbook, almost always at least one question related to them on exam

Prof. Kurylo is not the typical college professor that just want you to memorize a bunch of stuff and then feed it back on a paper. He really expect you to think. On his test, it is more benefit for you to understand why rather than just study like a robot.

I thought he was weird at first, but i grew to love his weirdness. I love his sarcasm. I only pay attention to catch the few sarcastic jokes he throws out. Good guy. Teaches clearly. He also makes funny faces without noticing. He's super interesting haha

he's one of the best professors at BC. Dr. K is very knowledgeable in the subject of Neuroscience. The lectures are kind of stale, but he has the best stories to tell which helps the material stick. He's also hilarious! Yes, his exams are difficult so you must keep up on your studying. Take him if you can!

Very, very funny guy whose jokes go over heads day in and out. Knowledgeable and will engage with you if you ask thoughtful questions. Can be snarky though, doesnt seem to love having to teach. Tests are VERY text dependant dont dare think you can rely on slides. If you are interested in material, this guy can really help you get it but no easy A

Great professor! The key to getting a good grade in this class is really just paying attention to his lectures, taking good notes, and studying. He makes all the neuroscience material understandable with the way he explains things. He also always provides real-life examples relating to the lecture and they're enjoyable to listen to bc he's funny.

Consistent, organized, knowledgeable; 4 thorough tests-you MUST study. Attendance is expected, hard to make up missed class. Tells real life stories; has refreshing bit of humor; will help student prepare for exam by office hours. You need notes to explain power point lectures. The tests can be difficult, but he prepares you well via in class lectures. He keeps the lectures engaging by constantly sharing anecdotes and telling jokes. Attendance is only 4% of the grade, but if you don't come to class, be prepared to fail.

I really loved his class and plan to take him again for another neuroscience class. Book is not needed- the charts sometimes help but not much. Listen carefully to every word he says and write it down- that is where the exams will come from. Overall great professor, very funny and extremely interesting stories.

Professor Kurlyo is a tough professor, his lectures are pretty good, and are not boring. We were graded on 4 exams, including the final and that's it 25% worth each, the tests are really difficult since they are all short answer, and you need to be very specific with your answer. He provides a review sheet, but make sure you study for hours on end.

Students that rate Professor Kurylo low are plain lazy. If you are a Psych major and you needed this as a requirement for a higher level Neuroscience class; you MUST study to LEARN important information for upper level. The written exam is very specific because he wants you to actually LEARN than guess the answer on MC test. GROW UP PEOPLE.

I loved this class. Took it ages ago and got an easy A. We were often dismissed early, he is totally a cool chiller, really relaxed and funny. Not much work out of class, teaches clearly and is great. I dont know why anyone would have any issues with him.

Attendance isn't mandatory but his exams are based off his lectures. The textbook isn't mandatory either but it will help boost your grade in his class. Your grade is based on 4 exams, 25% each, no homework at all. Occasionally one or two group 'class works' (not projects it isn't graded). His lectures are pretty straight forward with jokes in here

Professor Kurlyo is truly a kind, well-respected man. His class is extremely interesting. He does not give homework. Only 4 tests each worth 25%. The tests can be quite challenging seeing that it is short answer, but he is a fair grader. He looks to give you credit where he can. DUE TO COVID, 5 homework problems twice a week (45%), 4 tests (10%).

The entire class is teaching yourself through PowerPoints and textbook. If you study and take notes, you will do okay. I strongly dislike the way he grades and does tests. 4 tests make up the entire class grade. the tests are also very hard and the format is weird. I cried during the first exam because of stress. Prepare yourself and youll pass

Professor was really funny. Lectures were not mandatory to attend but you got extra credit if you did. 4 question quizzes after lectures too were extra credit. You will do well as long as you study. I did well on the first three exams so didn't have to take the final exam. Interesting class too

Very nice guy, interesting lectures and funny. Gives quizes as extra credit towards exams, so its easy to pass. His review sheats say exactly what will be on the test, no homework or projects, guy is very chill. Easy class to take in my opinion.

Professor Kurylo has an unconventional teaching style, but if you're willing to put in the work, you can do well in the class. The exams are challenging but fair. Using tools like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook helped me prepare effectively.

Attendance is not mandatory, there are 4 tests, they are lecture based, you do not need the book, you are tested on the lectures. He gives free points for showing up! After every lecture there is an optional quiz for points that are added on to that test, up to 36 extra points!!!!! Show up and listen, take notes, review the PowerPoints. Easy.

This professor is very good for me. The only things one has to do study to pass the course. He does very well in giving the slides and explaning the material well.
