Funny guy... pretty easy!
he never has class
He is my favorite prof...easy to approach and talk to. Hes Smart
Best professor I've ever had. Weed, booze, and cop stories....does class get any easier?
stories are hilarious, fun fun times
This guy is hilarious. Every single day, he gets off track with some anecdote about weed, the projects, or alcohol. However, he knows a lot about economics and makes everything pretty understandable. He tends to cancel class a lot though.
This guys a riot! He may tell alot of stories, but he is very intelligent and tries to help his students.
Prof Lomba is awesome because he picks on Republicans and hypes up Marx and getting into house fights with his cousin.
I think someone is getting a little carried away here with the ratings!
he's a nice guy and pretty funny...but he needs to remember that some of his classes are 100 level GER's
awesome, always cancels class, helps you get an A, easy, funny stories
I take him at UMD. He seems like his class will be hard at first but if u read the chapters he is really easy. he scales his tests SOOO much that i went from a 71 to a 90 on one test. He has the funniest stories too!

Hes one of the very few faculty members on this campus who doesnt kiss Dana's ass, and pretend to be someone he isnt. Hes very honest and up front with his opinions about certain things regarding this school..there should be more profs like him here...
If you show him you work hard and put effort into the course then he will give you break. Hes a reasonable guy
good teacher, interesting topics of converation, and is fair as long as you show you're trying your best.
His class was hysterical, however, I learned next to nothing and couldn't pass a test without the huge scale he gives! So this class may just kick my GPA way down!! Good waste of time. He is very open to tell you personal stories that will have you rollin
Maybe students would do better in his class if he focused on the curriculum & WHAT WAS ACTUALLY IN THE BOOK rather than talking about BSC.Dr. Lomba if you don't like BSC and its so beneath you-leave-you won't be missed.
If you dont understand the material, ask him to explain..hardly anyone did that. When he asks if anyone doesnt get it, everyone just stays silent. His storytelling is the only way to get any type of response. If you learned nothing, u didnt try
he's the man! it's impossible to get a D unless you don't show up. that won't be a problem because he hardly does either.
Extremely hard not to find this guy likeable, but his tests are difficult.
Best Professor at the college. Will help you to get it, regardless of what he needs to do. He wants you to understand the subject matter. He's not hard if you ask for help. I took him 5 times and got an A every time. Best economics professor hands down.
one of the most influential professors i have ever had. Very knowledgeable and will offer insight on a variety of topics, in addition to economics. Keeps students on their toes during lectures, you wont ever be bored in his class. Excellent teacher

got a 60 on the first test he said we'd call it a B. enough said.
very vibrant, lively, entertaining professor. Probably the most unique faculty member BSC has ever had. Not to mention the cutest.
Absolutely a brilliant mind. Great depth and understanding of inter-related issues. brings it all together.
What can I say? Hes hot!
this guy loves the subject..he's got a PHd and makes you know it! Don't take this with him unless you are an Economics Major!!
this professor is oppressed by the white establishment of bridgewater state college!
i'll never think of the world the same again!

Great professor. He knows the material. BSC is luck to have him.
only class youll actually want to go to...hilarious and he actually makes it so you understand the stuff.
best professor in the world. should be given every award bsc has to offer. instead they ignore him...
a great guy, wicked fun, great stories t hear, knows his material way too well, very helpful, go to class, take notes, do extra credit, the material is very hard and confusing but you will survive if you show effort and get to know him
Great Professor, very intelligent, very funny. Has many stories to tell and will always keep you laughing. Tests are very hard though, but he helps you get good grade if you put in the effort. Would reccomend only for beginning classes, as it is hard material.
Very interesting classes, his stories are funny and make it go by fast. Tests are SO HARD, multiple choice and he scales the tests 15 to 20 points because we did so bad. There is no doubt he knows his stuff, but I dont really think he cares about what people get for a grade because he is tenure. Hard GER class to take, cancels class A LOT!
Professor likes to make himself look smarter than students by explaining things in a round about way. Grades hard so he can scale to make the students like him. Tells lots of jokes but most of which are inappropriate for the class. Constantly talks bad about the college and his fellow professors.
LOMBA IS AMAZING. he is extremely intelligent and it's clear he knows what he's talking about. tests are extremely difficult, so make sure you do the reading outside of the class so you don't have to rely on the scale he gives after the fact. i failed every single test in class and still managed a c-. gives xtra credit! BSC NEEDS HIM!
Dr. Lomba, is the man. Best professor in the entire School of Business. If you go to class more than you don't your all set. He really knows his stuff and his stories make the class actually fun, unlike some other Econiomics professors...

He's the reason i stopped smoking weed... not because he says its bad but because he does and well... anyway if you are white you get -10 points and if youre a republican -10 more. and if youre a black republican then you automatically fail. and he always talks about this gay guy named bob... not sure what thats about...
Dr. Lomba is the real deal. I've had every econ prof. at BSC and his unparalleled brilliance and perennial hall of fame teaching abilities raises him to the highest caliber, far past his fellow colleagues. In other words, he is an economics teaching juggernaut. If you want to learn while having fun and never losing interest, then take his class.
I love Dr. Lomba... Probably always will. If he is reading this, he would be reassured how irresistable he was as a teacher. *swoon!*
If you believe a student wrote the 8/16 comments, i have a bridge to sell you across from Boyden Hall!!!
He was absolutely hilarious! The material he covers is really difficult...either you get it or you don't. He understands that though, and doesn't really hold it against you. Just show up, listen, and try on the tests and you'll pass. Kind of a hardcore sense of humor, so if you're offended easily, don't take him...
i wish we made a movie of him, starring a drug addict low life who end up being a mental genius, and becomes attorney general and mayor, and superman and batman ally with him to kick all the republican ass they can find. and then smoke back at the lair. he's that type of teacher. Very awesome.
His class is hilarious. Everyday he talks about how we fall behind, but then proceeds to go off tangent. His tests are wicked hard though.
i only go to every class just so i can look at him. oh, and i guess he's a pretty good teacher too.
The man is brilliant. goes out of his way to go against the grain and makes class enjoyable. With all the stories he tells you wont think you are learning anything but by the end of the semester you will realized you understand the material. Be sure to read the book, which is not a hard read
great professor!!! take a couple of tests mulitple choice. very helpful. do hw and it goes towards your final grade. go to class b/c he has very entertaining lectures. EASY GRADE if you read the book and do work
i think he just grades randomly. im pretty sure he didnt know my name, i didnt do too well on the tests (prob averaged a 65-70), didnt do any hw, and still ended up with a B. very entertaining nonetheless.
I do not grade randomly...ask the people who did not pass the class. 70 average in this class, before the scale is not bad at all. if it was after the scale, i made a mistake and you should contact me so i can give the the C you deserve.
A true genius and legend. Amazing lecturer. The one professor i ever had that inspires and interests people into the world of economics! I am currently in University in Ireland. Had him for one semster in fall 2008 and I never met a economics lecturer that was so talent before in my life. !! He is one of the greats..
Not a bad guy at all. His teaching can drag at 8am. Didn't really learn anything in the class. lol Make sure u read the text and you will do fine on his multiple choice test.
This guy is a legend...
I have not had this prof yet, but, I have spoken to several students who have had him and I only hear great things. Too bad he doesn't teach more upper level ECON courses in the evening.
i wouldnt take him again, hes a cool guy and funny guy but the lectures are horribly boring and you dont learn anything
Wicked funny guy, always makes the class fun and entertaining. He knows a lot about economics and is a great professor. Take him.
This guy's wicked funny, but if you're sensitive or stuck-up, don't take his class cause he'll offend you or rip on you (in good sport tho). Material's hard but if you honestly just TRY you'll come away with a good grade. I recommend him.
Lomba is a funny dude. But if you cant handle humor, don't take his class cause this man is hilarious! He knows his economics, just needs to find a clearer way of teaching it. As long as you SHOW him your TRYING you'll get a good grade.
I've had him for 2 classes and will have him for at least one more. If his sensitive to his humor, he's not the professor for you. If you can handle it, he's funny as hell and a good guy, knows his stuff, willing to help. If you show your trying you should be fine. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
Had him for Stats during Spring 2010 term at night. Stats is tough, but, he made the class interesting and taught the material well. Had a good personality and was a great prof. Is willing to help at a drop of a dime, until you understand it, using real world examples. Had 3 exams and some homework, nothing crazy. I'd take him again in a minute. MG
He is absolutely hilarious. Class is pretty easy if you pay attention and you study for the tests. If I get the chance, I will definitely take his class again!
Funny guy, doesn't know how to teach.
He is definitely hilarious. If you have trouble or don't understand what hes talking about, all you have to do is ask and he will explain it in a different way or map it out for you. I have taken 2 classes with him and hopefully I will have at least one more. Only 4 tests and a final. He hates the slideshows so take notes from what he says too.
Would be an excellent teacher if he was not so cynical and bitter! He hates the college, which is reflected in his teachings and attitude. On the positive side, he is very funny and nice, a genuine good guy.
One of the best teachers at Bridgewater.Should have tenure.Makes difficult material understandable. Can actually teach.Helps his students to think, question and understand .
Lomba is probably the best teacher Bridgewater has. It's like being taught by Cornel West and not having to pay Harvard's tuition
Comparing this guy to Cornell West is being VERY generous if not completely delusional. Most memorable statements from his lectures are his ad hominem attacks against other staff and faculty and personal stories about living in the projects. He is generous with his grades, but you take more away about his personal stuff than any economics.
It couldn't be anything like paying Harvard tuition because Cornel West doesn't teach at Harvard. West teaches at Princeton. Comparing Lomba and West was a nice try at being an overachiever, until you got West's employer wrong. Bridgewater State is full of mouthbreathing idiots. BTW this rating has nothing to do with Prof. Lomba.
Cornel West did teach at Harvard until he was forced out. Some of the "mouth breathing idiots" have tenure.Lomba does not.
Cornel West didteach at Harvard until he was forced out. Some of the mouth breathing idiots have tenure. Lomba does not. Econ 101 don't be smug because you don't understand the point
Not sure about the comments below but he's a pretty good prof. Not much homework or attendance required. He is very sarcastic though and it is hilarious. If you are not easily offended (because some of it might be directed at you), go ahead and take him.
To the poster below, dr. Lomba does have tenure, which is why he is able to get away with what he says. If he says otherwise, he is victimizing himself (big surprise there). BSU is no Harvard so pretending he gives you that kind of education just because he is a radical educator like Cornel is lame. Posting it repeatedly isnt going to make it fact
why does every bad review get deleted? I checked this site last month and there were 4 bad reviews that now dissapeared. Is this a good professor or not? because I dont trust this site anymore.
I like Lomba as a guy. Yes he's hilarious. However, I don't think I will take another class with him. He basically just read slides from the (super horrible) textbook and complained about them. That didn't stop him from using it though. We had two take home tests and that's it. They weren't too bad. Boooring class.
He is a decent professor. He only assigns a few things each semester but he grades pretty hard. Somehow everyone passes (even the people that don't show up or hand anything in), so go ahead and take him but if you are obsessive about your grades and knowing where you stand, he is not for you.
I took Dr. Lomba's online course, and it could not be easier. Submit stuff whenever because Lomba is as laid back as it gets. As exam questions are verbatim from the study guides he provided, you can literally use CTRL+F to find the answer to every single question while you're doing the exam. Easy, but you risk not learning anything.
He uses class to preach his "socialist" or "liberal" agenda, you don't learn a thing. He is not a good teacher, you will not learn a thing from him. He made attendance 20% of the grade and he doesn't teach EVERYTHING IS ONLINE even lectures. This semester we are playing a stock mkt game, I haven't even taken finance, it makes no sense. STAY AWAY!
To below: you clearly have no idea what you are talking about if you think liberalism and socialism are interchangeable. You'd think he'd suffer through teaching this conservative material but his healthy obsession with it makes him a great professor. I've learned a great deal. "This semester we are playing a stock mkt game." Cry me a river.
This class is easy, but there's a lot of work such as keeping up with the chapters online & learning about the graphs. I have no interest in ECON whatsoever but it was interesting to watch all of the documentaries about the economy & the financial industry- I enjoyed all that. But as for the subject, no passion. Skipped class a few times.
Dr. Lomba is great, I would go to class simply to listen to him rant on what is wrong with BSU. As for economics, it was a lot of info that I had a hard time keeping up with. Class lectures should be more involved with the text, he tried something different. I'm looking forward to taking his online 210 in the fall.
I do NOT recommend taking this class in the summer or online like I did. It was very difficult to understand. That being said, even though I should've been lucky to get a C-, Professor Lomba gave me a B. I have no idea how that happened and I thank him very much for that.
I took this class as a free elective and I took it online for convenience. The material was as hard and easy as I expected, but I would've appreciated more help from the Prof. Lomba. I sent him a couple emails with questions about the quizzes and he never replied to any of them. Really unprofessional...
I did the accelerated winter program. All work was done online. 3 tests and optional final. Extremely easy class, all you had to do was the practice tests.
Taken him twice and learned a ton. Just listen and you will see how his rants relate to the material. My views aren't the same as his but I still enjoyed the lecture. He is opinionated and will probably insult your view of the world. SUCK IT UP. If you are too sensitive to handle a racial joke or a shot at capitalism then you have bigger issues...
rants about white supremacy and tells kids theyre going nowhere in life. skips through slides without going over them. skipped a fair amount of classes but so did half the rest of the class because he just doesnt care. didnt really learn anything from him specifically unless you ask him. pretty annoying. doesnt respond to emails ever tests are hard
Great professor! Connect homework done in a timely manner is a must. Be sure to ask questions and you'll be winning in this class. He is very up to date on current events and applies topics to real life examples. Learned and remembered way more than I expected and I continue to apply statistics outside of the class room.
He makes crude jokes for most of the class, so if you're one that gets offended easily, don't take his class. The tests are nearly impossible HOWEVER, if you Ace the online material, you'll pass the class.
Great overall person. Get on his good side. Show up to class because people wont and he notices when you do. Participate when he starts talking about random stuff he likes to hear the students dumb responses. Get on his good, side talk to him a lot and he will help you get through the class.
Lomba is the man... He has a reckless sense of humor but it's hilarious, and he's a great professor because he's just a genius too. I'm graduating in a few months and his classes will probably be the most memorable from my time at Bridgewater. Grade wise, as long as you do the work and pay attention in class you'll be fine.
Even with it being an online course, he was pretty absent from the course. Got an email from him with the syllabus at the beginning of the semester, and never heard from him again. If your want to learn economics, save yourself the fees the school charges, and take an online course after you graduate for a certificate, you'll probably get more help
I had Lomba for an online Econ course and he helped me out tremendously. I was having issues with the site that the course took place on and as soon as I emailed him he got back to me almost immediately to assist me with the problems I was having. The tech support was horrendous and didn't help me at all but Lomba came through with the sauce.
Lomba is great. Ive taken him for macroeconomics, microeconomics and stats. Hes willing to help you out if youre struggling with the material. Make an effort to do the work and youll be fine. Hes a hoot and has lots of valuable insight, from Econ stuff to real world stuff. Id take lomba again if I could!
NO. JUST NO.
I took Statistics Economics/Business online so it was a little bit harder because of that. But the professor helps a lot and I was still able to get a good grade. Lots of homework and 4 exams, that's good because it really makes you learn and understand the material. Everything was done with Excel.
He's not great, I'll give you that. He does not respond to emails or post lectures for courses that are asynchronous. I tried to reach out to him for office hours once, and he did not want to do that. Instead, copied and pasted words from the textbook instead of answering my question. I withdrew from his class because it was so horrible. No help.
Average going class, many assignments and a few exams but not too hard. Professor is not as responsive to emails. Purchase a mcgrall hill and did everything through there.
Great professor to take an online class with. It is very clear what he wants you to do only bad thing is the homework is purchased through McMilan which was like $110. Other than that I would definitely take another class with him.
It's fully learn on your own. Lecture on zoom class is a video with an AI voice reading over a slideshow & some videos of a guy doing the math out(which is probably from youtube). All the coursework is on a paid website. Not helpful when it comes to questions and doesn't offer much help when confused, I was told that everything was in the textbook.
Took this class online and couldn't of had more problems. First of all its about $150 to buy the site that everything is on so that was not fun. But overall he is just rude and not helpful. He does not answer and if he does its a one word response with zero help whatsoever. Do not take this class econ is hard enough and he only makes it harder.
Keep up with the work and you will pass. But get ready to teach yourself everything. Weekly zoom lectures of AI reading.
Took Econ 101 online with this professor and had a 95% all semester with my homework and test results added up. Was shocked to see my B- when grades where released. Clearly this professor can't calculate grades correctly and has an unclear grading criteria.
If it math is not a strong subject for you and you have done nothing ECON related-don't take this class. The online format of learning will mess you up considering you are teaching yourself everything (you and the people in the YouTube videos). Soooo many long assignments and 5 exams-not impossible but oh, so difficult. Discipline is required.
