CHEM 334 is a hard class already, but he takes the time to explain this fully and to make sure students understand. HW is Achieve quizzes every so often. He provides optional textbook questions to help you prepare for the exams as well as many exam materials and practice problems. His teaching style is to write the notes out with you.
This was Madukwe first semester teaching, and I think he has done well at adapting to the position. He goes slow in lectures and makes sure everyone understands. Only homework is to study and occasional achieve quizzes. He hosts exam review sessions before exams. All the exams have had extra credit questions.
Madukwe is great! He makes orgo very straightforward and actually wants you to succeed. Provides extra credit on tests and has lots of resources for you to do well. Explains concepts well and simplifies them, very clear on what he expects from you. Orgo is hard, but he makes it easy. Funny and he cares for your success, take him if you can!
Take Madukwe for chem if you can! He's the best chem professor I've had out of all the chem classes I've had. If you study the prep material and review your notes, you can ace the exams pretty easily. He's funny and a really nice guy.
I LOVED Madukwe! I was very scared of my grade for Orgo prior to taking it because of the feedback from previous students. However, Madukwe relieved my stress! He goes at a good pace in lecture to understand the concepts and mechanisms, and posts practice questions/guides on Blackboard. This is his first semester, but he's great! Take him!!
Very sweet professor. Was my only prof. that gave out a Happy Thanksgiving email. He ensures that everyone understands it. There are pop quizzes but only to see if u r coming to class and only 1 problem. He gives out extra credit on test and it's super easy. He reopens the achieve hw at the end of the semester. I plan on taking him again for orgo 2
Dr. Madukwe is an amazing professor and is genuinely so kind and heartwarming. He really does care about
He provides extra credit on tests and many resources to prepare for tests. His practice exams are very similar to real exams which makes it easy to succeed. Very straightforward lectures and expectations! I would recommend taking him!
Since it was his first semester, I was a bit weary going into it, but he ex
If you have to take Organic Chemistry, take Dr. Madukwe! He is by far the best chemistry teacher I have ever had and he actually cares about his students exceeding in his class.
The class is a very hard class, however, Dr. Madukwe is about as good of a professor you could ask for to teach it. You need to study and do the homework's and although attendance is not mandatory Dr. Madukwe enjoys giving pop quizzes when a lot of people are missing. Also, he really cares if you are happy.
This professor was very caring and nice to his students. Always kept in touch with his students throughout the semester to make see how people were handling the class. Exams were very fair if you do the given review. Lots of bonus was given on exams to help out along with many other opportunities to improve grades. Definitely recommend.
He cares about his students and that they learn the material. He sends out emails for holidays, such as Thanksgiving, and has office hours throughout the week so he is available. He asks in class if we are happy and just shows that he cares and is very passionate about teaching this subject. I would take him any opportunity that I have.
Dr. Madukwe made Organic Chemistry not nearly as scary or hard as I anticipated it being. He explains things well and his exams are not made to trip you up. If you do practice problems and study you can get an A. Madukwe is the best option for orgo for sure.
DR. MADUKWE IS AMAZING!! I would take him for every chem class if I had the option. He is so helpful and really wants his students to succeed. He prepares us very well for exams, gives fair exams, and offers extra credit often. He also does a great job in keeping his students engaged in the lecture and explains topics well. TAKE HIM!
Even though this was his first semester here, he is definitely one of my favorite professors. Lecture pace is slow so we can understand things well. You can tell he cares about his students and wants us to succeed. He gives practice exams and exam reviews before every test and there are bonus questions on tests and tons of resources on blackboard.
Dr. Madukwe cares about his students and their understanding of the material. He is funny too, which lightens the mood when discussing organic chemistry. There are pop quizzes but are just to see if you come to class. Tests are very straightforward with a lot of extra credit capable of being earned. Take him if you need to take organic chemistry.
Dr. Madukwe is an amazing professor and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students academic success as well as their personal well-being. Super available to answer questions after class and during office hours or email. There's some pop quizzes just to check attendance throughout the semester. 11/10
He is one of the most caring professors and you can tell he enjoys teaching.
He gave very clear test help and uploads a lot of documents to study online, very nice and easy class if you study and do the material he posts. Very little homework.
Dr. Madukwe really cares about his students, he checks in multiple times during class to make sure we understand, and makes his office hours very clear to everybody. He understands the material well and he knows how to teach it well too. I really want to have him for Orgo 2.
Dr. Madukwe is one of the most caring and kind professors at USC. He always wants his students to do well. After an exam he wrote and email telling us that he was thankful for us and for our efforts on the exam. He makes your effort feel appreciated and worthwhile. If you have to take orgo, TAKE HIM.
Dr. Madukwe is an amazing professor who truly cares about the success of his students. His exam practice questions adequately prepare you for each exam and if you are willing to dedicate the time needed for the course it is very easy to do well.
Madukwe is an amazing professor who clearly cares about his students and how they perform in his class. He is very understanding of students having other classes and helpful with any questions or concerns.
Professor Madukwe is, without a doubt, one of the best professors I've ever had. The course is difficult, as you'd expect from Organic Chemistry, but he nurtures an environment which allows his students to prosper. I would recommend him to any and every student seeking to take Organic Chemistry.
I was so nervous going into orgo this semester because everyone always complained about how tough it is. Dr. Madukwe made our learning environment fun and has a passion for the subject. He gives so many practice problems before exams and always hosts office hours! I have really enjoyed him this semester and will take him next semester for orgo II.
Dr. Madukwe has been my favorite professor this semester, and his class has been very enjoyable. His lectures are amazing, and he always takes a moment to let students ask questions after we have gone over a topic. There are pop quizzes, but they really just attendance checks and are easy. It is clear he cares about his students and their success.
This is literally the greatest chemistry teacher of all time. This teacher made so many difficult concepts easy to comprehend. He is an easy-going teacher that writes out the notes along with the students and then uploads them to blackboard. 10/10 teacher!
Awesome teacher. Always checked on how we were doing. Teaches slow so that we can understand. Takes feedback and improves his teaching to meet our needs.
Class wasn't mandatory, but he randomly had pop quizzes to track attendance. Each exam was based on the study guide which made life easy. He is your best bet to get through orgo 1 at this school. He was neat!
Organic chemistry is hard but he made it so easy to comprehend. You just need to practice but he will give you multiple practice sheet.
Organic Chemistry 2 is a hard course but this professor allowed some stress to get relieved due to his compassion for his students. He truly wants us to do well and consistently asks for feedback. Highly recommend him!
Dr. Madukwe is awesome. For a course as difficult as Organic Chemistry, he makes it easy to understand and digest. He has a true appreciation for his students, and their feedback. You will have multiple times throughout the semester to suggest things that could make the course better.... and he actually listens and makes the changes! Awesome guy
Would take again!! Taught slow so we could understand. Little homework. Lots of practice. Cared a lot for students
Dr. Madukwe made going through Orgo 2 enjoyable. He provided plenty of practice, as well as offered plenty of office hours. He welcomes questions in class and is very intentional in the way he teaches. He also is very personable and personally reached out to me multiple times to offer suggestions and help after exams. 100/10 guy, loved his class!
Really nice guy. Cares about students and makes sure that you understand the material. Offers a lot of practice problems from the textbook and from practices that he makes. His exams reflect the material in class very well. He is so nice and by far the best Chemistry prof I have had at USC! He makes such a hard class enjoyable!
Professor Madukwe has done exceptionally well in his first semester teaching. I love all of his review material, and the fact that he has it organized very well with the keys. Every exam has had extra credit and he has been forgiving with grading. 10/10 would take again!
Exams are very well written and cover material reviewed in class. One exam gets replaced with final grade. Pop quizzes are an easy A if you show up to class. Teaches very slowly, provides handwritten notes, and are sure class is engaged. Bonus on exams is very easy
His first time teaching, but put faith in him as a teacher and he did a great job. Always easy to reach outside of class.
At the beginning of every lecture, he asks how we are doing and cares about our wellbeing. He doesn't rush through the content like other professors and creates a good environment for students to ask questions. Be prepared to do work regularly (nearly every day), and do pop quizzes (which is a form of attendance).
Overall, he was a very approachable and open professor. He made sure we understood in class even if that meant taking extra time out of the lecture to review. He was also open to feedback. There was many times he asked us what he could improve on, and each time he came back improved on what many people suggested.
I absolutely love Dr. Madukwe! He's genuinely so caring about his students and teaches very well! He doesn't overcomplicate anything and exams are exactly what you'd expect. I seriously can't recommend him enough!
Dr. Madukwe is a really good professor. He has a great accent. He did a great job teaching, especially for his first semester. He is available for virtual office hours and answers questions in class. He incentivizes coming to class through pop quizzes. I would highly recommend doing problem sets before recitation and doing practice problems.
Professor Madukwe is definitely your best option for orgo 2. If you attend lectures, do practice exams, and watch review sessions you can do well. The material is hard but he explains everything in the best way possible and cares greatly about his students. He also includes extra credit questions in every exam which were great grade boosters.
Professor Madukwe really cares about his students. The material is not easy but he uses lots of examples to make learning the concepts as easy as possible. Attendance is not really mandatory but if he sees class attendance is low he will give out pop quizzes. I would 100% take this class again, lots of partial credit on all exams and quizzes.
Professor Madukwe makes very clear mechanisms for the reactions you'll learn. He is very caring and amicable toward his students. Exams are based on lectures and you'll do good on them if you put time into studying. Pop quizzes happen every couple of lectures are are quite easy, normally a mechanism problem, no need to study for them
Dr. Madukwe is such a caring professor!! You can tell be really loves Chemistry. He really makes sure students are engaged during class, and he makes learning fun. Orgo is difficult, but he tries to make it as digestible as possible. He gives extra credit on his tests. Absolutely take hime if you have the chance!!
Professor Madukwe is a great professor. He really cares that his students learn the material. He knows the subject very well and answers any question that is asked. He always uploads explanations of the material on blackboard if you are unsure or have any questions.
I was really scared about taking orgo and heard so many nightmare stories but Dr. Madukwe made the class very manageable. The material isn't easy but he provides ample opportunity for extra credit and truly cares about the success of his students. He's great at lecturing and offers plenty of availability outside of class. Highly recommend!!
Easily one of the most passionate professors I've learned from. As it was his first year teaching, he was humble and took student feedback often and made adjustments accordingly. His passion for chemistry was contagious and each class session was a bright spot in the days I had him.
This was Professor Madukwe's first semester here and I hope he stays forever!!! He takes his time teaching lessons and is always checking to make sure we understand the material. He gives reviews that are very similar to the exams and is always giving extra credit. He's so awesome and amazing, I can't wait to take him for orgo 2
Prof. Madukwe is easily my favorite teacher at this school. He is extremely caring and open to feedback during his first year teaching. As difficult as Orgo II is, he really simplified the material to important concepts, which was reflected in the posted notes and exams. Cannot recommend him enough!!
TAKE HIM FOR ORGANIC CHEMISTRY!! Not only is he super approachable but he also writes his notes with you so it's easy to keep up in class. He even posts them on Blackboard after. The only thing to be careful of is his pop quizzes which he gives periodically but they are basically attendance points. I would highly recommend you take him!!!
He's easily the best teacher I've had at this school. Very knowledgeable on the topics and easy to follow along with. Posts a lot of practice problems that make the exams easier. Does give out pop quizzes occasionally, but they're only one question and simple. Holds online review sessions before exams and records them so you can watch whenever.
The absolute BEST professor I have ever had. I cannot emphasize how amazing he is. I barely got by in orgo 1 and was dreading this class but he made it fun and explained everything really well. He draws out notes with you in class so it is easy to keep up and encourages questions and participation. As long as you go to the lectures you will do well
TAKE HIM! Definitely one of the best professors I've had at this school. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. Attendance is technically not mandatory but he will give attendance quizzes from time to time. Exams reflect the material really well and there is extra credit on every exam. Lectures are easy to follow!
He's really nice but his notes are extremely hard to follow and he rambles. He also gives an "exam review" that is never really helpful. His exams are a lot harder than the practice exams. I could maybe see him being good if you took him for orgo 1 and got used to his teaching style for orgo 2, but don't take him if you had someone else for orgo 1.
Prof. Madukwe is a nice person who cares about his students, however he is not a good teacher. His notes are very hard to follow, he goes extremely fast, and tends to ramble on which loses students. His exams are very hard and not similar to the practice exams. I'd recommend another professor than him for this class.
Professor Madukwe is really sweet and cares a lot about his students. He wants all of us to succeed in his class. He always checks in with us periodically throughout lectures to make sure we are understanding. He provides lots of extra material to help us prepare for the tests and holds multiple office hours throughout the week. Take Orgo with him!
I rated him a 3 previously but I TAKE IT ALL BACK!!!!! He is amazing!!!! He cares so much about his student's well being and is def the best orgo teacher at uofsc. TAKE HIM OR YOU ARE SO DUMB I LOVE HIM
He cares about his students.
This guy is the real deal. Cares about student success and hosts helpful review sessions. His lectures are relatively easy to follow for an organic chemistry class and all the material and practice problems he posted online were really beneficial when it came to studying. Also use handwritten flashcards when studying for this class trust me.
I have taken Chem 333 3 times and Madukwe was definitely the reason why I finally understood the material. He is fun and engaging with the students throughout the lecture. His way of teaching is easy to grasp and will actually ANSWER any questions that we have. Pop quizzes are easy and the homework takes between 40 min- 1 hr so not bad at all.
I loved Dr. Madukwe's class. As someone who hated orgo 1, he made orgo 2 super fun and interesting to learn; I actually understood orgo for the first time in my life. He's also super sweet and you can tell he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. 10/10 would recommend.
I love Madukwe!!! I don't think I've had a better professor, and as someone who never liked chemistry, I actually started to enjoy it. I felt prepared for tests because he explained things super well and he always answered all questions. Orgo isn't easy, you have to put in the work, but he's BY FAR the best option of all the other chem profs.
Madukwe actually cares about his students unlike a lot of the other profs that teach orgo and I understand for the first time since having a dif prof for 333. Tests are fairly easy if you study and are similar to practice exams he gives. Has pop quizzes but are only for completion to track attendance. Achieve are good ways to practice material.
Had him for orgo 1&2, he is the best. Type of teacher that actually inspires students in their career and cares about them. Very funny and knowledgable. This man is a blessing and makes orgo enjoyable. Extra credit on exams, go to class since he holds occasional attendance based pop quizzes. Amazing prof, cant say enough good things about him.
He's a nice person and you'd probably like him because most people do. Unfortunately, I hated his teaching style because he lectures so slowly. I taught most of the material to myself, but his exams were fairly easy so I did well in the class. I preferred Dr. Wiskur, but others in my class loved him.
Exams are from lecture material and the study guide provided. Pop quizzes are given to test for attendance. The teaching pace is very understandable and easier than most other professors. Extra credit is given on all exams. Highly recommend this professor.
Probably one of the best orgo professors at usc. He makes it easy to understand and he is always adamant about making sure everyones questions get answered. Its a tough course and requires a lot of hours dedicated to it but hes the prof you want if you are taking orgo. Not really good at responding to emails though. Overall excellent choice.
Best professor option for this class. He is open to questions and he moves through material at a reasonable pace. His recitation quizzes are way harder than the exams. Only complaint is that he does not give a lot of exam review questions.
I took Dr. Madukwe for both CHEM 333/334. He is the BEST professor for this class. He does his best to make his lectures engaging, even during the more boring material. He cares a lot about his students and LOVES teaching. He does give about 10 pop quizzes a semester.
His class wasn't very focussed, but he made it as easy as possible. Sometimes he struggled to properly prepare students for exams but adding concepts last minute, but not a terrible guy. Very easy class, and the nicest guy around. I would recommend taking him
Madukwe is absolutely your best professor option for orgo. He's really approachable for questions. I retook this class with him and the difference between my comprehension of material when he taught it was really good. His only real negative is that he goes slow which can be kind of boring and then right before the exam he crams a lot in.
Great Professor. Cares about his student's success. Attend office hours, they help!
Class consists of 500 points. 3 exams (100 each), Quiz grade (100), and final (200). You can drop the lowest test grade or half the final. Quiz grade is made up of recitation, pop quiz, and homework. Great professor who actually cares about his students. ORGO is hard but he made it doable.
Dr. Madukwe is an amazing professor and does his best to make Orgo understandable to everyone. He really cares about his students and wanted us to all do well. Organic is a hard class, but he went slow and made sure everyone understood everything! He is one of the best professors I have had and highly recommend him for any who needs to take Orgo
He's one of the best teacher's I've had. He is very thorough in his teachings and the material learned is what is on the exams. He lays it all out so it is easy for you to understand! 100% recommend
Great professor and really cares about his students. Does not move at a fast pass which is nice except for the two weeks before final exam. Offers a lot of outside support. Exams are incredibly fair.
He is not a great professor.
Prof. Madukwe is a nice person who cares about his students, however he is not a good teacher. His notes are very hard to follow, he goes extremely fast, and tends to ramble on which loses students. His exams are very hard and not similar to the practice exams.
He wants his students to fail the class. Only 10 will pass the class out of 100.
teaching skills are good, but as a teacher or person not good. I wouldn't suggest taking the class.
My friend recommended this course. that was his first semester so he was nice. he curves there exam. but now he talked about it but hasn't cuverd any exam. extra credit is hard to get it right. he is making the class hard on purpose. because he wants to fail students, so they will retake his class.
All the Students complaining are just lazy, he is a great professor that gives you all the tools to succeed in the course. If you pay attention and study you will make an A.
Dr. Madukwe is an excellent instructor with lots of compassion for his students. Orgo is a hard class but if you practice all the material and really put in the time to study and learn the material you will do great. If you are struggling in the class he strongly encourages going to his office hours where he can provide you with the help you need!
I won't recommend him.
this professor doesn't listen to anyone.I agree that he talked about curve but doesn't do it. He removes backtracking from exam 3. He didn't even have good answers when asked why he removed it. That made a lot of people get lower grade in exam 3. When we ask questions about curve the grade he will rudely say no or change the topic.
Unfortunately, I hated his teaching style because he lectures so slowly. I taught most of the material to myself. I would suggest to take Dr. Wiskur.
I won't suggest him to anyone.
I wouldn't recommend him.
I wouldn't take him. I also won't suggest him.
Dr. Madukwe was an amazing professor. Many of the bad reviews on his are from students that were unwilling to put in the work necessary to succeed and expected him to hand them the grade they needed, which he will not do. He provides many materials and practice to help you. Orgo is hard, but Dr. Madukwe gives you everything you need to succeed.
Ppl who are commenting that the ppl rating him bad are lazy is simply not true. This was my third time taking this class, went to every exam review, SI session, and studied all the time. The exam reviews were not like the actual exam and I failed the first exam bc of it. He is very unfeeling and laughs when his students ask for help.
Dr. Madukwe is the best orgo professor. He makes everything so understandable and provides ample resources for the exams. The class material itself is very hard so make sure to go to every lecture. There are occasional pop quizzes but they are collaborative. He is very friendly and approachable, I'd recommend him to anyone that has to take orgo.
Best professor for orgo by far. Pop quizzes are collaborative so everyone usually gets 100. He posted a lt of resources to help you study. You will get a good grade if you study and show up to class. Madukwe is hilarious and loves when you ask questions and joke with him.
Madukwe has tons of mixed reviews. The truth is, this is an extremely difficult course. You need to be a quick learner in chemistry to pass, and the rest of your schedule better be manageable. I attended every lecture, yet no amount of practice or SI sessions seemed to help me improve; I was in a couple other tough courses at the time. Had no life.
He made organic chemistry a lot less scary. My only complaint is that he went too slow at the start of the semester, so then we had to rush more towards the end. His tests are very fair, and he gives ample resources to study with. Makes the classroom a safe environment to ask questions. Very understanding of circumstance too!
I took Dr. Madukwe for Orgo 1 and 2. He is such a nice professor and provides us with a lot of material to do well in the class. You are graded on three exams, a final, homework on Achieve, weekly recitation quizzes, and pop quizzes. Make sure to STUDY and go to office hours or tutoring if you are lost so you don't fall behind.
I love Dr. Madukwe. He really cares about his students and wants you to do well in the class. He is always helpful in office hours and will even make time outside of office hours to meet with you if you have questions or concerns. Orgo is really hard, but I felt like Dr. Madukwe helped break the material down in a way that was easy to understand.
Wonderful professor! Very passionate in what he does and really cares about his students. Highly recommend going to his office hours. It took me from being a C student to an A student. Also prepared us well for grad school admissions test. Love this man!
Dr. Madukwe is an amazing teacher. Orgo is a very hard class, but he goes at a slow pace in the beginning so students can understand the basics. I highly recommend going to his office hours, as he really helps clarify any concepts you don't understand. He is a very kind man and is very approachable. His exams are just like the study guides.
I loved Dr. Madukwe! Organic chemistry isn't easy, but I survived because of him. His slower teaching style made understanding concepts much easier compared to others. I highly recommend attending his office hours if you're confused, as he takes his time to thoroughly explain the content. He truly cares about his students!
I love Madukwe so so much. Orgo is a really hard class but Dr. Madukwe made everything as easy as he could- explained everything very well and is very open to students. As a person, he's hilarious and caring. I didn't pass but I am retaking with him again because he is an amazing teacher.
Amazing professor, only reason I understood orgo. I took him for orgo1 and taking him for orgo2. I highly suggest. Attendance is mandatory and there are pop quizzes. They are graded on participation not correctness. Recitation quizzes are the only hard part bc hard to prepare for with little time - failed a few, still got a good grade in the class
Chem333 with Prof. Madukwe is a challenging course, but with the right approach, you can succeed. The lectures can be dry, so using study aids like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook is helpful. Attend office hours and review sessions to truly grasp the material.
He is one of the better professors in the chem department but is very hard to reach outside of lectures. He offers partial credit on exams which saved me. Not much room for extra credit (EC problems are only at the end of exams.) I liked that he worked slower than most during lectures to make sure students understood the material instead of rushing
TAKE DR. MADUKWE! Exams are easy, he has many practice problems, etc. He encourages questions and doesnt make you feel dumb. There are pop quizzes for this class but they arent bad at all just show up to class and make sure you are prepared with what material you need to know. DO THOSE PRACTICE QUESTIONS it will make your life so much easier.
Really good prof. Throroughly enjoyed his class.
Dr. Madukwe is the kindest man I've ever met. He makes organic chemistry make so much sense. There are pop quizzes and attendance is required but I promise it's worth it. The exams are just like the mock tests he provides so you know exactly what to expect. I would take him 1500 times over if I could
Very caring professor. The material is hard but he wants you to succeed. very welcoming in office hours
Madukwe is very kind but not really that great of a teacher. I never once fully understood a topic without the help of my SI who was amazing and able to make the material digestible. However, he does do a good job of preparing you for his exams. If you want to fully understand concepts, I can't recommend taking him.
The best orgo professor. The class is hard but he makes it sooo much easier and you have practice exams to prepare you for every exam. Attendance is definitely required though and super important because of pop quizzes. Overall 100% I would recommend if you can take him!!
Great Ochem professor!! Very accessible outside of class, i highly recommend going to office hours if you do not understand the lectures. Obviously, this is a rigorous class so avoid slacking off
Best professor for orgo! If you see his class, take him! He's all you would want in a professor, he truly understands us as students and puts himself in our shoes to make things easier for us.
Dr. Madukwe is one of the best professors I have had at USC. He is very invested in making sure his students succeed and offers valuable feedback. Go to lectures and office hours he is very helpful! Definitely recommend taking him for Orgo 1 and 2.
This is a pretty difficult class, but Dr. Madukwe is obviously very passionate about teaching and gives you a lot of resources to help you succeed. Don't miss lecture because there are pop quizzes at least once a week and can be pretty random. He also does not give extensions on homework, but he drops low grades at the end of the semester. Good guy
He is really funny and a really great teacher, he definitely made orgo a lot easier and he has really good TAs and SI leaders. There are pop quizes but as long as you show up for them you get a 100. Also, be sure to study and practice on your own time or the class can get really hard.
I literally could not recommend a better organic professor he is awesome he give mcc exams that are literally the exam just different letter and everything you need is clearly spelled out in lecture. just take him you won't regret it.
Best ochem professor out there. Take him if you can! He makes ochem easy to understand and will help you with any questions you have outside of class during his office hours. His SI's and TA's are very good too.
Everyone raves about him, but I really did not get the hype. His lectures are extremely fast and all over the place (but he does post the notes). Pop quizzes based on completion and attendance taken daily. Is not clear what material is on the exams and the practice exams do not reflect what is tested very well. He is very passive aggressive.
Awesome prof. Had him for Orgo1. Ochem2 has been harder bc he was told his averages were too high so he started making exams harder. Still the best option. enjoy his class and he wants to see students succeed. pop quizzes are easy and you usually get full credit as long as you try. switched his homework platform but they are still manageable.
I think Dr. Madukwe is fine for Orgo 1 but if you struggled with the last chapter of that class I would not advise taking him for 2. I personally think he doesn't do a good job of explaining concepts and the entire lecture is just struggling to keep him with how fast he writes his notes. He is very kind and caring but not efficient at instructing.
Overall the course is very hard you just have to put in the work. He gives so many resources and wants the best for his students. The test has extra credit and he gives participation pop quizzes to help with your grade. He gives SO many practice exams and hand outs so utilize those because that is what helped me. He is the best.
It's a tough class but he truly wants everyone to do well. Attendance is mandatory, but to do well in the class you should go anyway bc the content can be confusing and he does a good job explaining it. There's extra credit questions at the end of the exams which is nice. He also gives tons of practice problems and practice exams that are helpful.
Dr. Madukwe is by far one of the best professors I have ever had at South Carolina, I had him for both Orgo 1 and 2. He truly loves teaching, ochem, and his students and wants for everyone to succeed. He gave our class a speech before our final exam about how much he appreciates us, very challenging class but Dr. Madukwe is great
GREAT GREAT GREAT prof at UofSC!!! EVERYONE TAKE HIM RN!!
10s across the board for Dr. Madukwe. He provides all the materials to be successful. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS ( yes, the ones in the textbook too). He does a great job explaining the conceptual aspects of orgo. Relying on memorization alone won't help; you need to understand why atoms act the way they do. Tests were MUCH easier than lectures.
Dr. Madukwe is the best! I was so nervous to take this class, but his office hours were helpful, no surprises on exams, quizzes, and homework were straightforward. His exam averages were decently high, and the 10 extra credit problems on the exams really helped the class get overall decent grades. Really wants his students to excel. GO TO LECTURE!
I love Dr. Madukwe so much. Orgo is difficult no matter who you have, but he provides so many resources to help you. He genuinely wants his students to succeed. Definitely make those flashcards and attend office hours.
Nicest man in the entire world! His TA on the other hand was horrible and you could not understand or hear her during recitation. Her recitation quizzes destroyed my grade so beware if she is still a TA.
Getting a good grade is definitely manageable, but you have to be studying/practicing as you learn the material, as this is not a class you can cram study a couple of days before the exam. Madukwe is great at explaining tricky concepts (he posts the notes). However, beware of the recitation quizzes as they tanked my grade more than the exams.
He was a great professor! Has a few pop quizzes during lectures (participation based though). Drops 2 recitation quizzes and your lowest exam score. Watch out though because the recitation quizzes could bring your grade down though. The practice exams are also almost identical to the actual exams too.
