Dr. Myles helped me with both the lab and lecture materials. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about chemistry. They should have this guy teaching the lectures.
Dr. Myles is a VERY informative and understanding professor. I really enjoyed his teaching! whenever i had an issue he was very helpful in showing me how to answer the the problem or understand the concept!!
He teaches the way I wish most professors would teach. He covers everything in a way that is is easily understood, and he never goes too fast (or too slow for that matter). He is definitely very helpful whenever you need help!
He was alright, was very clear in notes, just his final I have to say was quite bad because it was the hardest stuff we learned and midterms were not that bad. But he is good to take from.
Fantastic Professor!!! Explained everything so clearly!!! I totally recommend this guy!
Fantastic teacher! He knows a lot about chemistry, and is very easy to talk to and relate to. If you have to take chemistry, take it with him!
This professor really knows his stuff. His notes are super organized and he places them on Blackboard. I really like how he posts the solutions to worked examples that he does in class. Really easy to follow and approachable. I wish the other chemistry instructors were more like him.
Dr. Myles is EXTREMELY HELPFUL - he's incredible during his office hours - he'll actually sit down with you, get out the textbook, and work it out until you understand. And may I say he's pretty sexy for a Canadian :) Too bad he's married.
One of the best at OSU! Super organized lecture notes. Extremely helpful during his office hours. I am really looking forward to having him in o-chem in the fall.
By far the best chemistry instructor at OSU. I had Richardson in CH 222 and he was horrible. I had CH 223 this summer with Myles and he was amazing. Try to take general chemistry with Dr. Myles. He makes everything so easy to understand!
Dr. Myles is soooooooo hot! He is also a great teacher. His tests are hard but he prepares you well for them. He also puts all of his notes and examples on Blackboard. I am so excited to have him for organic chemistry!
Prof Myles is amazing. Take a course with him and you'll see what I am talking about.
Dr. Myles is awesome, organized, and very personable.
Simply the Best!!!
It is really refreshing to have an instructor like this. We just had the first midterm and Dr. Myles did a great job of preparing us for it. He's wonderful in front of the classroom!!! He's exceptionally helpful during office hours! If you have to take o-chem, then take it with him.
Daniel Myles is a great great teacher. He is very helpful and dedicate to his students. He provides extra times for homework helps and he makes sure that you will get A in his class. Too bad he's not teaching second term of organic chemistry. He's way better than JW.
Great Teacher. All I have to say.
He has an incredible knowledge of chemistry. Truly enjoyed his course.
This guy is great, very clear in lecture and offers plenty of time outside of class to get help if you need it. Midterms are difficult but again, he'll do whatever he needs to do to ensure his students succeed. Best professor I've had at OSU so far, I just wish he was teaching Chem 332
Dr.Myles is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is truly inspiring and has a great deal of passion for the subject he teaches. He is always willing to help and wants every student to succeed.
This easily the most organized course I have ever taken. Dr. Myles will go out of his way to make sure you have all the resources you need to be prepared for tests and for the next term. He is also very helpful, he holds more office hours than anyone else in the university. He genuinely loves his subject and cares about your learning.
Awesome teacher. Easy tests and midterms, exactly like his practice tests and midterms. Im so angry I can't have him as my 332 teacher.
Lecture powerpoints available online. No required homework
Exceptionally organized and is very good at breaking down complex problems into simpler terms. Highly recommend this guy.
Best. Professor. EVER. I wish I could have him for every class. He makes your personal success a top priority which is so very uncommon, especially with such large class sizes. Highly recommended! =)
The amount of work this guy does for his students far surpasses that of all my other professors at OSU. I can tell he really cares about our success!
Best ever!!! He actually makes chemistry easy to understand.
A wonderful teacher. I've always had trouble with chemistry, but when I took his class, I actually understood the material. He takes great interest in his students learning and actually wants people to succeed in his class. Highly recommended.
One of the best chemistry teachers I have ever had. Really cares about the learning of his students
Great, helpful, clear. Sends out practice exams, solutions, and helpful information. I highly recommend him for anyone hesitant about chem.
Most organized professor I have ever had
Hands down best professor I have ever had!! I was so apprehensive about taking chem because it was so difficult for me in high school. His interest in the students success I know made such a difference for me and many of my friends.SO clear on material, genuine and nice guy and even schedules extra office hours around exam times. Thank you so much!
Myles is very organized. He posts a lot notes, practice exams, and worked examples online. Exams are very different than practice exams. If possible, try to take CH 121 from Nafshun. He makes Chemistry more fun and easier to learn.
An amazing professor. Very helpful and understanding. His exams are straightforward and his notes are exceptionally organized. His quirky personality also makes the class go by quickly. Highly recommended. Looking forward to another great term in CH 222!
OMG! One of the BEST and HOTTEST instructors ever! Myles truely cares about the success of all his students.
Exceptionally clear in expectations. Exceptionally organized. Highly recommended.
Extremely helpful! He does all that is possible to help students understand all the class material. His class examples are great and really help while studying for the exams.
Great teacher! Really clear, and actually gives a crap if students are understanding the material. However, if you're taking the entire organic series, take 331 with Walker if you can. You'll have to take 332-7 with him, and a lot of students really struggled with the transition from Myles to Walker, as they are VERY different teachers.
THE BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER IN THE WORLD HANDS DOWN!!! He has an impressive knowledge of chemistry. His enthusiasm and warm personality created a welcoming learning environment. I would suggest taking ANY course he teaches!!! Thanks Dr. Myles.
I had Dr.Myles for Chem 121 and 122 and hes an amazing teacher. Hes very clear and gives you everything you need to be successful in his class. He does not do alot of experiments though so if you like that then I do not know what to say.
Brilliant teacher! Definitely gets the point across and wants you to do well in his class. He even holds review sessions before each exam! He's always available to help you and responds really quick to emails. He is extremely organized and that really helped me when it came to learning the material.
Passionate about everything he teaches. Prepares you well for his tests. Best lecturer I've had at OSU.
Professor Myles is fantastic during lecture! So clear and organized. Very down to earth, funny, and extremely helpful when you go to his office hours! You have to work really hard to get an A in his class - it is organic chemistry after all!
Dr. Miles was very helpful and loves the topics he teaches. Very good chemist. Class grade was based mostly on the tests, which were fair and not too tricky, but required good knowledge of the material. He may be a bit insecure about making mistakes or not knowing the answer to weird questions off the top of his mind.
Dr. D is da man.
Dr. Myles is awesome. I do have to say he is one of the best profs i have had so far. Very organized and helpful. Great study guides and review sessions before exams. So nice! Do whatever you can to get in his class :)
If you're one of the smartest ones in class & think quick on your feet, you'll love him. He asks questions and you'll know the answers. If you're not, his lectures will just make you feel dumb, and you'll stop going to lecture and will just print out the power point slides. Why everyone likes him so much is beyond me. Nafshun is 100% better.
Dr. Myles is an AWESOME teacher! It's really nice to have a teacher who actually cares about their students. His lectures are very helpful and well put together. If there is anything you don't understand he is so willing to help you. Takes time to hold review sessions before each exam. He really wants his students to succeed!
Dr. Myles is awesome. He makes the class so understandable and he really knows and gets along with his students. Powerpoint slides are available via blackboard and he will help anytime.
Best Ochem professor ever. I have taken it before (which ended horribly) and then retook it with Myles. BEST CHEMISTRY PROF. You HAVE TO TAKE IT FROM HIM. trust me, if you go to class, office hours, he explains it all. easy A with full understanding!!
Best at OSU! Extremely helpful during office hours. Dr. Myles is such a nice guy!
His course is meticulously designed. His tests are very fair and his lectures are definitely worth going to. He is crystal clear and actually knows what he is talking about. Great class! I highly recommend this professor.
I don't know why everyone loves this guy so much. Maybe he's better than the other professors at OSU, but I found him to be pretty unhelpful in general. Rushes through lecture material, and even though he has a lot of office hours, be prepared to wait, there are usually a ton of people there looking for help too. Don't count on him to explain stuff
Dr. Myles rocks, hands down.Don't listen to the babies that complain that he doesn't explain things. If you go to class, work hard, and utilize his help efficiently you actually have a chance at understanding Ochem, he makes it SO much easier to grasp than 90% of the professors out there.Be thankful if you are in his class, it could be way worse.
Great Professor. Best professor I've had so far. Very clear, helpful, and wants you to learn and succeed in O Chem. You just need to put in time to practice the different mechanisms. RECOMMEND!
Hands down the best chemistry professor I have ever had. Walker is a decent instructor, but Myles is much more personable and down to earth. I'd take another class from him in a heartbeat, if he offered anything outside of the general or organic chem series.
Dr. Myles is an awsome teacher, very interested in your success.
Absolutely, 100%, loving the course. Professor Myles is an amazing teacher.
Absolutely wonderful teacher! He is very straightforward and gives you everything you need to be successful in his course. Runs his own review sessions outside of class. He makes things interesting and relatively easy to understand! It was a pleasure taking his class. I highly recommend him!
Most organized professor that I have ever had which makes learning the material easy. His review sessions before the tests are extremely helpful. Go for Myles!
One of the better teachers I have had. Very easy, gives you all of the material needed to know (even gives some answers in review sessions). Overall a great teacher and a great guy. Only problem, seems a little to needy of good reviews. Other than that, superb! Definitely recommend!
Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Myles. He holds review sessions outside of lecture, his lecture notes are great, he provides everything online, and it is easy to ask questions by email, during office hours, or in lecture. He is passionate about chemistry and has fun teaching it, which makes the class that much better. His kid is cute, too!
I've had Dr. Myles for both the 200 series and ochem and it was because of him I passed all of them and actually found the subject interesting. Holds a lot of office hours and gives/shows a lot of examples (and even says which will be on the exams). He can be tough, chemistry isn't an easy subject, but he'll do everything to help you pass.
The BEST professor I've ever had. He does everything that he can to help us students out before any tests. Very helpful and nice during office hours. His lectures are very informative and I never wanted to miss one lecture.
Dr. Myles is passionate about teaching. He provides a variety of resources, all of which pertain to what you are expected to know. No busy work, you have to be very self-motivated to succeed. He values both giving and receiving respect. The slides are organized and helpful references. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!!!! =D
He is a really good teacher and cares about his students, his mid terms were very easy, his final made everyone want to cry! no one finshed before the given time, good teacher! be really ready for the final!
Dr. Myles is an excellent professor and makes the seemingly difficult subject of ochem fairly easy. However, be especially prepared for the final. He always seems to throw in one question on the final that was never discussed or mentioned in the reviews or in lecture which frustrated everyone!
I despised chemistry before taking his class, and now it's my favorite subject. By far the best professor I've had at OSU. Makes things crystal clear, and always available for any help/questions. I hope to have him for CH 331. I have never heard ANYONE say anything bad about him. Absolutely recommended.
Dr. Myles gives interesting lectures and generally tests on the items he presents in class. However, an easy teacher is often mistaken for a good teacher. I felt that I could memorize what he taught and do fine, but did not understand it. If you take chemistry from him you will pay for it if you have to take a later course from another instructor.
Dr. Myles is a GREAT teacher! He guides the class in a structured way while maintaining a comfortable learning environment that keeps us engaged. He has a way of repeating older concepts as he is introducing new ones, and there is a rhythm in his approach that helps students grasp complex problems. Don't memorize, but apply what he teaches you!
Prof Myles helped us comprehend the difficult subject of organic by providing very clear/concise lectures. He has an unbelievable talent of making the material appear straightforward. You will be successful if you work hard, think critically about what you are doing, and use the resources that he provides. He is by far the most dedicated professor!
Great professor, has all lecture notes online, easy to understand and goes over it in different ways. in-class worked examples are great for people who learn by doing, lectures are well organized, assignments are relevant to the class and actually help. I never even had to crack the book (could be a good or bad thing, depending)
Not going to lie, he can be kind of a jerk but that was prob cause he had a newborn baby at the time. That being said, BEST teacher I have had in terms of clarity of content. He goes out of his way to be helpful (ie, review sessions, practice exams, online notes...)Best teacher I've had at OSU. Made O-chem fun. Too bad he wasn't a nicer person.
Provides all the time in the world for his students. His methodical approach to teaching ensures that we don't miss the little pieces of the puzzle. Very helpful and professional during office hours. He's by far my favorite professor.
Goes the extra mile to really prepare you for mid terms by hosting two different review sessions. Really encouraging about O Chem and very organized.
Incredible Professor, Very concise and helpful. Available whenever there are questions and Explains things in the most simple manner.
#1 at OSU. Don't take O-chem from anyone else. Course content and organization are amazing. He places all of his notes including worked class examples on blackboard. The class examples are great when studying for exams. Posts practice exams. Very clear in what he expects from us. Great explanation of concepts during class.
I was dreading this class, but it turned out that I had nothing to worry about. He is an awesome intructor. He prepares you for every test and goes out of his way to give you as much help as possible.
He is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. I didn't have a very good OChem prof. last term and was worried I would fall behind, but I was already caught up in the first week. He does examples for EVERYTHING and tells you exactly what to expect. His practice exams are incredibly similar to his exams, so there's nothing to worry about :)
Myles is incredibly organized. Best of all the Gen Chem instructors!
I was worried for Organic as you hear all the horror stories about it. But Dr. Myles made it very doing. His organization is unprecedented, which makes studying easy. Do the assigned HW, and go over all of the worked examples he did in class his exam questions are normally derived from those.
332 is more difficult than 331 I thought. A bit more material to memorized, and more complicated mechanisms. Myles is so organized though it makes everything very doable. You get a notecard for 332, but make sure you understand the mechanism, because he will normally put questions on the exam that are different from the standard. Managed an A.
had him for gen chem & Ochem. i hate chemistry & it does not come easy to me but he was so helpful & easy to talk to. he's THE BEST teacher i've had at OSU.
Couldn't ask for a better chem teacher. Makes things very clear and keeps you interested. I'd strongly recommend him.
I failed 122 last term :( Now it is going sooooo much better with Dr. Myles. I go to his office hours every week. Hes been supportive and very helpful. He cares about his students, unlike my past instructors for 121 and 122. Best general chemistry teacher. To bad he doesn't teach all of it.
Doctor Myles genuinely cares about his students and will do anything in his power to help us succeed. He provides many in-class worked examples as well as practice exams. He grades the exams and posts them ASAP. Overall he the best prof I've had so far.
He very very good teacher and he makes Chemistry very simple by attending his class and follow him.I hope he will teach my in CH123.
This is my second time taking CH 331. I like him alot better then the last prof. His enthusiasm, clarity and passion for the subject makes learning this difficult subject easy. He bends over backwards to help his students. Sure his tests can be hard, but it is ochem after all...
Dr. Myles is an awesome prof. His blackboard notes are stellar and he always explains concepts clearly. His exams are tough, but very fair. Make sure you do the homework and go to his extra review sessions. He's the best prof I've had.
Great o-Chem teacher. Just a down to earth guy. Really respects us. So not intimidating and very helpful during office hours. Great class!
Great teacher and very clearly-spoken and organized. I love how he has the entire term planned out and I can print out all the notes at the start. He repeats some things a lot, but that is to ingrain it into your head and I think that it works well. He clearly cares about taking care of his students.
has organized notes and very good explanation , the online quizzes are always the same , so find someone who took the course before , keep in mind that his exams are not easy , if u want easy exams take another prof , do and understand the hw because he brings the hard stuff from the hw ,
VERY good teacher. The best organic professor at OSU. He cares so much about student success in his class.
He is a wonderful teacher if you need to take ochem take him. He is an amazing teacher. He is defiantly been the best professor I have had here at OSU. His quizzes can be a little trick but his midterms and exams are straight forward and aren't there to trick you. Just make sure you keep up with the non mediatory hw and you'll do great.
You rock Dr. Myles! Most caring prof I've come across. Runs extra review sessions on his own time, which are extremely helpful by the way. Best at OSU! :)
Dr. Myles is my new favorite teacher! He is 100% interested in you learning the material, and provides study sessions before each exam (even if he has to do it on a weekend he will). He focuses on the big picture of Organic Chemistry and makes it totally possible to do well. Highly recommended. (6 online quizzes not timed, 3 exams)
very clearly explains chem.
I totally have a crush, his slight Canadian accent is cute. 121 is super easy no matter who teaches it, but he keeps me interested. He is very good about updating blackboard and emailing. I'm looking forward to taking him for ochem.
He is known as the best Ochem teacher. His lectures are engaging and his examples have a range of difficulties to more fully understand his material. He has an extra help session right before midterms to tell you exactly what you need to know and allowed us one side of a notecard. My only complaint is that the material was a a little limited.
His class is challenging, but he clearly explained all the material in a logical way. He is very knowledgeable on the subject of organic chemistry. He is the best teacher at OSU!
AWESOME TEACHER! Very clear, and organized!
Thank you so much Dr. Myles for everything you do! The unprecedented organization, clarity of student expectations, and awesome lectures are appreciated by all. It is clear that you genuinely care for your students. I will miss you as a teacher!
Dr. Myles is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He made Organic Chemistry easy to understand. Attend lectures, pay attention, make study cards and KNOW the mechanisms, and you will do fine. Got an A, and didn't even need to read the textbook because his lectures are so clear and straight forward. He is an extremely nice person too. TAKE HIM!
Sexy teacher and good professor :)
He really cares about his students. Super polite and professional. You can see him after class, go to his office hours, or email him and he will always respond quickly with clear answers. His harder test questions usually come straight from his notes or the homework. Don't let the homework slide or you will regret it.
Ultra organized. Excellent communication skills. Goes out of his way to help. All around great guy! :) Actually makes organic fun!
Ultra clear in his teaching tactics, breaks it down, repeats it, is very thorough and overall a well rounded teacher
If I could take every chem class from Dr Myles I would. He is incredibly clear, and does an amazing job at explaining the material. He was incredibly helpful when it was reequested, and made a subject that can be incredibly boring actually a little fun. It was a far cry from other chem instructors I have had!!
Myles is a wonderful teacher, with clear and concise teaching methods. The tests however are way too tricky and caused me to fail entirely! You will be expected to go over and beyond on the test.
Dr. Myles is the best professor ever. He is extremely clear. He provides his students with the tools to solve problems. His exams are not necessarily easy, but they are fair. He is very helpful during office hours and wants his students to succeed and learn from their mistakes. He is extremely dedicated to helping his students.
Amazing professor, best chem class I've ever taken. Explains the material extremely well, and reviews a lot. Very thorough. Tests are difficult, but he gives you multiple study tools to do well. Made organic chem fun!
Dr. Myles is a great professor. He is very good at explaining the material and his tests are a direct reflection of what he goes over in lecture and what the homework is on. He was extremely helpful in office hours and sometimes he would tell us adorable stories about his baby before class.
Dr. Myles is amazing. He is very concerned about his students learning and understanding the materials and explains things very clearly. It is easy to know what is important on for the tests. Con: there are not a lot of points associated with your grade, so you do have to study to make sure you are doing well in the class, quizzes and tests only.
He's an amazing professor that really cares about his students.
Dr. Myles is a great professor that cares about his students. He is funny, gives great and engaging lectures. His reviews are extremely useful. His tests are hard, but fair.
Dr. Myles is a well-oiled machine! Impressive knowledge of practical ochem. Amazing a breaking down concepts. He makes himself available to every student in his class for extra help. He is clear and dedicated to his students. I would not take anyone else but Myles for ochem!
He's an amazing prof during class and after hours. Approachable and caring. Students gave him a standing ovation at the end of 331. He's good at breaking down and explaining complex concepts. Lecture notes are flawless with well crafted in-class examples. Only cracked the book for homework. Doing homework is a must. I never missed a lecture.
Dr. Myles is the best professor ever! If all professors were like him then school would be no problem EVER. If a student asks a question that he doesn't have time to answer in lecture HE finds THEM after class to answer the question. Amazing. Sad that the tests this term weren't multiple choice thought :(
Myles is one of the best professors I've ever had. The class pace was great with worked examples every lecture. The tests were fair and you can tell he really cares about your learning. Doing the homework is a must.
Dr. Myles is hands down the BEST professor I've had at OSU. I wish all teachers were like him. He is crystal clear and very precise. He is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Eager to help students. He really has teaching Ochem down! His tests are hard, but passable if you study and know the material. Homework is not required, but recommended.
Stays and helps out in lab the entire time. Very helpful and supportive. Upbeat positive attitude, even during our 8 AM lab session. Easy to follow lectures with excellent speaking voice. I like how he brings small demos to lecture. Does a solid job of explaining theo and pract aspects of OChem.
Dr. Myles is amazing as per usual. Posts all his slides and worked examples so a missed class doesn't kill your grade. He always makes sure to answer your question even if he doesn't have time to answer it in class.
Very helpful, friendly, and engaging professor. Clearly passionate about O-chem, and wants to help students enjoy the subject. Remembers students' names out of a class of 400+, even a couple years later. Clear, concise, easy-to-follow and easy-to-review lectures. Take O-chem with Dr. Myles to understand this interesting but foreboding subject!
Best at OSU! Myles goes over a large amount of material, but as long as you attend class and study everyday you will do great. Attend his office hours and ask questions if you don't get the material. I would strongly recommend enrolling in his class. Other Ochem prof is easy but you hardly learn anything from him.
Definitely the best professor I have ever had. He makes lectures interesting and everything is crystal clear. Grades are composed of quizzes and tests. He really wants students to succeed and is easily available for health. Absolutely take Dr. Myles for O Chem if you can!!
This man teaches like a God. Prior to 331 I was scared how people claimed ochem was difficult, and it is, but Myles meets you halfway and sets you up for success if you meet him halfway as well and put in effort. Make sure to take advantage of office hrs. He makes learning the material more interesting, hands down one of the best professors @ OSU.
Dr. Myles has, by far, been one of my favorite professors. He cares about the success of his students and takes time to know each student on an individual level. His exams are challenging, but he is an amazing teacher so you learn the material well and will be prepared for his exams.
Possibly the best professor I have ever had. He's great at explaining things in a way easy to understand. I love Ochem, he makes it fun and enjoyable! The tests can be difficult, but if you put in enough time studying, they're not bad at all. Definitely get Ochem with him! He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed.
Love Dr Myles. Took him for both 331 and 332 and I think his teaching technique is fantastic. I never knew that I would like organic chemistry.
In addition to being very helpful, Dr. Myles is a nice guy. He genuinely wants you to succeed in OChem and you can tell he's very passionate about the material. His tests can be very difficult, though, so make sure you do the homework he assigns and understand every problem or you may struggle with them.
Dr. Myles is the best! I am grateful to be in his lab section for CH 337. His lectures are entertaining, informative, and relate well to the lab experiments. For CH 331 and 332, grades on exams were miraculously posted the next day! I love OChem and much of this is attributed to his inspiring teaching style. He cares deeply about his students.
Great lecturer, very helpful, extra sessions during office hours where you get extra practice and help. If you study everyday you will do fine in his class.
Super hard exams. Well, he is really clear and helpful but his exams are insane. I dont wanna take him anymore for the next section.
One of the best professors at OSU. Such a good teacher and lecturer - very clear. If you are willing to work hard, you'll do fine. He is so dedicated to his students and truly wants them to succeed. He makes himself very available for extra help.
He is really helpful , easy to understand but you have to work hard for it. enormous informations in the lecture but the exam is pretty tough!!
Dr. Myles is the best organic chemistry professor that Oregon State has to offer. Yes, his tests may seem rather difficult, but if you go to class, take good notes, go to his great office hours (highly recommend), and get to know Dr. Myles, organic chemistry will be a challenging class that will surely help you become a ochem whiz!
Dr. Myles is ice! The guy is the definition of clear, and REALLY teaches you the concepts. After 331 I felt I had mastered the concepts, and new the material well. His exams can be a little tricky, but if you learn the concepts you will do great on the exams. If you want to really LEARN take Dr. Myles!!!
Dr Myles is one of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. Even though his tests are hard, he tells you exactly what will be on there. If you go to his office hours, he is very friendly and very helpful. He cares about his students and he wants them to succeed.
Dr Myles is by far the best professor ive had, ever. He makes the material seem straight forward and managable, and if you do not understand a term or concept he will answer in a very helpful manner. Definitely will take him again for ch332.
Right now I wish more than anything I had taken OChem2 from Dr. Walker. Dr. Myles killed us on the final. It was brutal. I am an extremely hard-working, usually A student, and I'm not even sure at this point if I will pass the class. If you need to get a good grade, take it from Dr. Walker. I like Dr. Myles, but not today. :(
Dr. Myles is very clear in lecture, which is invaluable when teaching an O-Chem class. His descriptions are so clear that I barely had to read the book. If you have trouble with a concept, he is more than happy to spend as much time as needed to help you understand it in his office hours.
The lectures are so clear and to the point that I barely had to do any outside studying when it came to test time. He is by far my favorite Organic chemistry professor.
Go to office hours! He has his office hours in a classroom and it's like an extra lecture but you ask the questions which directions the matter he covers. He is very nice and willing to help students. You have to study very hard and as much as possible to do well in the class. If you actually try, you should do well.
Myles is a really good professor even though his subject he is teaching (organic chemistry) is extremely difficult, he is the best professor to have for this course. Take advantage of his office hours because those for me were more helpful than the lecture, because it was basically like a lecture but just a really small class size.
Dr. Myles provides all the tools for success in summer CH 331. He video captures all of his lectures and produces extra videos on concepts that we struggle with. He runs extra review sessions for all exams. He is so hardworking and dedicated to his students. Always has a great attitude and teaches with the utmost enthusiasm. Best prof at OSU!
The course itself is tough, but the grading criteria for your lab work and formal write-up is clear, and the test study guide was very specific. Dr. Myles is also very helpful for the hands-on lab work and good at answering any questions you have over content or lab procedures.
He takes a hard subject and makes it simple!
I am not a fan of chemistry, nut Myles made it a much better subject and as easy as possible to understand. He seems to care about the students and how the understand the material.
The only professor I've seen who can keep the class actively engaged for the entire 50 minutes. But this is because there is SO much content in his lectures. DO NOT SKIP THIS CLASS. He is truly amazing at explaining the materiel. I didn't memorize how to get the answer, I actually understood why. He will give you a strong foundation in OChem.
Myles clearly loves what he does and wants all his students to succeed. Probably best chemistry prof I've had at OSU. The way he explains things makes it so easy to understand, I rarely had to read out of the textbook. Do the HW problems! They are very similar to exam questions and will prep you a lot!
Dr. Myles was my favorite professor at OSU. O-chem is famously hard but he teaches it well and is very clear and willing to help. Great lecture notes and will not try to trick you on exams. Also he is a genuinely nice guy and will try to get to know his students and spend extra time doing review session, answering emails, going over tough problems.
Love this man, lowkey. He is an amazing lecturer and by FAR the best professor I've ever had. He posts all of his lectures on Canvas too. Recitation is optional but very helpful. The tests are fairly tough, but they were all multiple choice. Extremely impressed. No homework as well! Would absolutely take this class again.
Myles is a great professor. He basically tells you the exact subjects he's going to put on the test, and lectures are really easy to understand. The amount of information you need to memorize for his class is pretty challenging, but he does his best to help you out and is great at answering questions
If you have to take ochem take Dr. Myles. He does not waste your time with busy work, he is very clear at explaining concepts/mechanisms and will give you the tools you need to succeed. Expect to put in time doing the practice problems and making a good set of notecards. Tests are hard but fair. He is good at answering Q's and timely grading.
Best professor I have had so far at Oregon State University.
Dr Myles is a great professor teaching a challenging subject. He is very clear what he expects students to know on exams and is through with pre-exam review sessions. Organic is not easy and you have to put in the study time to pass the class, but Dr Myles is there for help his students and cares about the students understanding the material.
Best professor I have ever had. He truly cared for me and my learning. Nicest prof on campus for sure. I suggest getting to know him.
Dr. Myles is awesome. He really tries to get to know his students and is genuinely caring. He makes sure you know the important stuff and is very receptive to questions but you will need to put in the work to better understand reactions. 10/10 would recommend.
Lecture was great, he explains things very well. Tests are another story... they are super tough, require great attention to detail, and a lot of memorization. In addition to the difficulty of the material he likes to use little tricks in the exams so beware.
Myles is honestly fantastic. He cares so much about his students and will do anything to help you learn the material. His tests are harder than Walker's, but you learn so much more and Myles as a person makes it worth it.
Dr. Myles is the most thorough and organized professor that you will come across. He leaves no stone unturned. His lectures are great and he is very helpful during office hours. Very clear course expectations. I highly recommend him to anyone having to take OChem.
Fantastic professor. Dr. Myles is very knowledgeable on the subject and he is very specific with what you're going to be tested on. He is fair with what he tests on and does an extremely thorough job explaining reactions. I learned a lot from him with little effort. Great class too!
Myles is one of a kind. He cares about his students, seeks to build relationships with them, is eager to help them understand difficult concepts, and accurately and professionally teaches one of the hardest topics in college! Highly recommend going to office hours and just listening in... I learned more doing that than going to recitation.
Myles is definitely the teacher to take. He cares for his students and only wants to see you succeed. That said, you do have to work for your grade. But that is Ochem. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. He goes above and beyond, but offering lecture captures so if you miss class you can watch. He provides podcasts for review. A+ teacher
Dr. Myles is hands down one of my favorite professors. He teaches a topic that has the potential to be sooo difficult, but he makes it straightforward and easy to follow. Encouraging to his students and does everything in his power to help you understand the material.
Dr. Myles is the most amazing teacher I have had in my entire life, he is caring and passionate about his work and students, his lectures are brilliant and I would look forward to them every week. He is an exceptional teacher who gives you all the tools you need to succeed in his class, he makes a hard final, but work hard and you'll succeed.
Dr. Myles is one of the best professors at Oregon State University. He definitely made organic fun to learn and the work load was manageable. His expectations are very clear and he is very organized. He is also very approachable for help and will make an effort to say hi if he recognizes you outside of class.
Dr. Myles is a fantastic professor. The lectures prepare you for the class. There aren't many grades other than the tests, so doing well is extremely important. He's willing to put in office hour times, which if you want an A, office hours is the perfect time to figure out topics that you're unsure of. Would take another class from him.
He was great.
Like this guy needs another good review but DANG. Perfect amount of repetition in lecture, great pace, organized notes, gets to heart of subject without too much noise. You will learn not just memorize. Tests are harder but doable. Goes out of his way to be accessible to students and to take an interest in their success. Book was the only bad thing
He is absolutely amazing teacher. Made OChem simple!
Definitely the best professor at OSU. I'm taking the DAT and Ochem review has been ridiculously simple because he gives an excellent foundation in the subject. He'll teach you how to work through reactions instead of purely memorizing everything, which is great if you're studying for exams for professional school. I cannot recommend him enough.
He's literally the only reason I passed ochem 2. I took his class online, and I actually enjoyed it! His lectures are excellent, and his homework is consistent with the course material. 10/10!
Myles is an amazing instructor, he explains things in a way anyone would understand. By far, he is my favorite professor.
Dr. Myles is an amazing professor. He gives you all of the resources you need to pass the class with flying colors and his teaching style works with most students. In my opinion, if anyone fails his class, its cuz they didnt pull their own weight, not cuz Myles didnt supply enough resources or not teach well enough
Dr. Myles is an incredible professor. The class is mainly just the midterm and final, but he really tries to make sure every student is going to pass. If you need help outside of the lecture hall his office hours are amazing and great way to figure out if you're understanding the concepts. He's honestly just a great guy and care about students.
Dr. Myles is one of the best professors I've had. He's super friendly and accessible during office hours, and he does a great job at presenting material. I thought OChem was going to be the hardest class I've taken, but he made the content really manageable. If you are trying to decide between Walker and Myles, go with Myles. Walker isn't the same.
Dr. Myles is a gentleman who takes his time to think and is willing to break a hard topic down for his students to understand well. If you attend his lectures, think about a learning strategy that works for the best for you (listening or writing notes) to make sure that you will not miss what is explained, you are then good to go for your future.
Tears and desperation got me through Gen Chem, but Myles got me through OChem. Taking CH331/332 with Myles proved that it is the teacher who makes the class, not the content. The content can be very difficult - it's one of the most failed classes at OSU for a reason - but you will leave this class knowing the material and proud of yourself.
Dr. Myles was an incredible teacher. Organic is definitely not my forte, but Myles makes it very clear as to what is going to be on the exam. Do the homework problems assigned, be in lecture, and you will gain a solid understanding of the material. Additionally, Myles is one of the best professors I have encountered at engaging with his students.
I hate chemistry and Dr Myles made Organic Chemistry interesting and even easy at times. He is hilarious and his lectures are never boring, no matter how complex the topic. As long as you do the worksheets and practice tests that he gives out before exams, the exams are easy. He made me second guess my opinions on chemistry.
The best Chemistry professor at the school! His lectures are informative and easy to understand. He's the nicest guy and really cares about student success. Tests are very difficult, but if you listen to his lectures and do the work you'll be fine.
He gives a lot of free answers during lecture. After the midterm the lectures are a little heavy but basic studying like flash cards can get you through. I always knew what was expected for me to know. Gave extra credit. I got Bs on the tests but full points on the quizzes (not hard with chegg and notes) and ended up really surprised with my grade
Awesome professor! Super caring and very accessible outside of class if you have questions. Don't slack on the homework, though! He pulls a lot of exam questions right from homework and lecture slides.
Myles is amazing! Explains everything well, cares about his students, funny. The material is super hard but Myles makes it bearable. Textbook is needed only for doing the optional homework problems (but you'll want to do them, trust me). Only graded on the quizzes, midterm, and final. I planned my schedule around getting Myles as my prof for ochem!
Myles is an absolutely excellent professor, and is a genuine and caring person as well. His lectures are engaging and informative, and although the content is challenging he manages to break it up into more manageable pieces. Be aware that your grade is largely determined by exams -- they are challenging, but bearable. Do the practice problems!
Dr. Myles is an AMAZING professor. He is the most inspiring teacher I know. Going to his office hours was very helpful as well as asking questions during/after lectures. His lectures are very interesting and the way he teaches keeps many students motivated to learn Ochem throughout the term.
I used to hate Chemistry. But after taking a class &lab with Dr Myles, I began to love Chemistry. He made lecture topic easier to understand &enjoyable. He genuinely cares about his students &has helped me in lab A LOT. He's the best teacher I could ever ask for. He's a very respectable person, he remembers students' names & has inspired me greatly
Dr. Myles is one of the most caring and involved professors I've ever had. Even though the course material is difficult and I didn't always do great in the class, I always enjoyed the lectures. He genuinely cares about students, learned my name and even a few terms after taking his class he recognizes me. Highly recommend for a dynamic experience.
Dr. Myles truly cares about his students' and their understanding of the material. Although Ochem can be a difficult subject, he makes the topics covered very interesting and clear. Tests aren't difficult if you go over the practice material (he just alters the compounds slightly) and if you show up to lab and do your work, you get an A.
Ecampus review - His lectures seem easy, but his tests are hard and very application heavy and next level - not like how he teaches or like the pre-test. He will give 12 points of extra credit and will the midterm grade if the final is higher. You can definitely obtain an A, but you need to learn the material and how he tests.
this dude is the GOAT man best teacher NA
insanely great teacher. Even though it was an online class, I could feel his kindness and professionalism as an educator. I got a D the first time I took Orgo1 at a different university. I could not keep up with the teacher and it was designed to be hard for the sake of it. Myles makes sure you actually learn the fundamentals. Take this course!
Dr. Myles is genuinely the best professor Ive ever had. I was kinda scared to take organic chemistry but he made it really easy to understand. Youll still have to put in the work but he makes lecture enjoyable and understandable.
Dr. Myles is the best teacher I have had so far. Hes does an excellent job teaching challenging content and will repeat complex material to help you understand it. The test are hard, but he prepares you for them and does not play dirty on the tests. I thought this class would ruin my GPA, but it was much more manageable than I thought.
Dr. Myles has been easily the best professor I have ever had. He is clear as to what he expects you to know for exams, and explains each concept in thorough detail. you can tell he cares about his students. Go to lectures because he will sometimes give away exam questions.
Provides great lectures and grades fairly! One on my favorite professors :)
Dr. Myles is the bomb he truly cares about you understanding and learning the material and he is very easy to follow along with. A lot of the work in this class is optional and you are graded just on quizzes and the exams so it is up to you to keep up. He usually gives a few freebie questions for exams in lecture so make sure you go!
Best professor I've ever had. Remembers students names despite having about 300+ students per term. Occasionally gives out freebies for exams. Will ask you your name if you ask a Q in lecture if he doesn't already know it (which he will confirm before answering). VERY fair on exams and is extremely personable and caring. Pls take ochem with him.
After getting a D in Orgo I at a different uni, I retook it with professor myles and actually felt like I learned so much. His teaching style enabled me to get an A in Orgo. I loved it so much I also took his Orgo II class just for fun and also recieved an A. You definitely have to put in work but he makes sure you have all the necessary resources.
Dr. Myles is a fantastic instructor. I failed his class the first time due to lack of effort on my part. The second time around he really helped me understand the basics to succeed. O-chem went from the hardest class I've ever taken to one of my favorite subjects! He is passionate about what he does and makes a hard subject engaging.
By far the best professor I have ever had, really cares for his students and he really shows it! Always willing to help you no matter what!! Amazing lectures, he makes sure you understand what he wants you to. Always thanks his students at the end of each term. 10/10 recommend him!
Amazing professor. Organic can really be dry, especially for non-chemistry majors just trying to get into their fields. That being said, Dr. Myles goes out of his way to present the material in a clear and concise manner. You never have to wonder what he expects of you, or what he will test on. He gives you all the tools you need to succeed.
Organic chemistry is tough. No way around it. But Dr. Myles really takes the time to explain everything very well. His tests are very fair and follow the homework perfectly. There is a lot of studying and a lot of memorizing mechanisms, but this class is not hard to get an A in. Don't take this with a bunch of other hard classes!
Great professor. Explains concepts well and gives examples similar to the test. Really wants to see students succeed and is always available for help.
Dr. Myles is lightning fast in response to my email questions. Provides helpful and detailed responses. Most organized and easy to follow Canvas site. Professional and respectful to all students. Really enjoying his class! Thank you!
Having had final exams at 7PM before, I had mistaken the final for 7PM when it was 7AM. I realized this at noon and rushed to his office to explain. I was a good student and didn't miss it on purpose. He decided to drop my grade from A+ to D- without giving me a way to make up for it like other profs do. It ruined my GPA needed for pro school.
Dr. Myles is the best lecturer I have ever met. In class it often felt like he was talking directly to you even though it was in a 400 person auditorium (I tested this by moving around during the year). He is willing to meet after class to discuss any questions. Kind, patient, and humble I learned more from his class than I ever thought I would.
Responded quickly to my emails. I loved the homework solutions that he provided - they were more detailed then the solution manual. The class examples were very helpful. Descriptions in lecture were very detailed and he repeated concepts a lot, which really helped me learn the material. Most organized class. Thank you Dr. Myles!!!
Dr. Myles didn't "teach" our class, but we used his materials (lectures recordings and worksheets). HIs methodical way of teaching worked perfectly with the way I learned so I really appreciated how the course was laid out.
These classes could have been more challenging (I took these in person). I would have liked to learn how to approach more difficult multi-step synthesis problems. Myles is great though and the material that was covered was taught beautifully. Attend class for hints for future exam questions and frequent the mole hole for help. Hw is worthwhile.
The BEST professor I ever had at OSU. He explains the material very well and goes over a lot of example problems with students in class to ensure they would understand. Exams are exactly like the study guides. If you show up to lectures, he would sometimes tell the class questions that would be exactly written on the exam and gives us the answer.
This class is taught really well and very organized. Recitation worksheets and homework assignments are ungraded but worth your time - if you don't practice the concepts, you won't understand them. There's not a lot of flexibility in grades though, so you have to do really well on the quizzes and tests.
Myles is really engaging with his students and wants them to succeed in a difficult course. He makes lectures not boring and switches between slides and worked examples frequently. He also makes an effort to know students and connects with them, whether it's through office hours of after lectures. Best chemistry teacher I've ever had.
I LOVED his class!! I took ochem at another school and it was miserable, but he explains things so well and you can tell he really knows and loves what he is talking about. His lectures are to the point and super well organized, and the combination of learned material to worked examples helps the info stick. I highly recommend his class!
Dr Myles is one of the best professors I have had. He is very well organized and explains concepts very well. I would 100% recommend taking Organic chemistry with him.
Myles teaches everything so thoroughly and is so helpful if you have problems. very approachable, solid dude.
Phenomenal professor. Extremely kind to students. Grading expectations are always very clear. Provides more than enough resources to succeed in this class. If anything, the class felt almost a little too easy for how difficult ochem is supposed to be--but I still learned so much. I highly recommend taking a class from Dr. Myles.
Dr. Myles clearly cares deeply about his students and wants everyone to understand the concepts he’s teaching fully. He does everything he can within reason to make sure students thrive in his class. Quizzes, midterm, and final are the only factors for the grade. He offers extra credit at times. He wants his students to succeed.
Dr. Myles is the best professor I've ever had in my life. He is a saint. He cares about his students more than anything and wants them to succeed. He has gone out of his way multiple times to help me personally. Even though he has hundreds of students, he deeply cares about each one. If you study and work the practice problems you will do great.
Myles is a gem, truly. He provides all the resources you need to be successful in his class and will take the time to get to know you personally in a class of 300 students. He is very approachable and will explain concepts clearly and in-depth. If the lower division science classes here haven't killed you yet, this class is a breath of fresh air.
Dr Myles is the best chemistry professor I've had at OSU. Posts slides and worksheets ahead of time and lectures clearly. Really nice to students and is approachable if you had questions. Attendance isn't required but he does examples of problems during lecture and hints at which problems are going to be on quizzes and tests. Definitely recommend!!
Dr. Myles's style of lecturing is incredible. I have never had such as accessible professor in terms of lecturing. He constantly repeats important ideas, checks in with the audience, and moves at a nice rate. Heading into Ochem I was very nervous and content was difficult, but having such nice and useful lectures made the experience so much better.
Goated teacher fr
Incredible professor. He takes a difficult class that many are nervous about and explains it in a way that makes it seem simple. He also takes the time to personally get to know each of his students, which is very impressive in a lecture hall of 200+. This course is the light at the end of the tunnel after gen chem.
Dr. Myles is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He talks at a good pace, repeats important concepts, and truly cares for his students. Class attendance and work is not required, but overall grade is extremely exam heavy. So showing up is necessary to know the material. Like others said, this course is a breath of fresh air after CH23x.
Dr. Myles is a great professor and truly cares about his students. He enjoys when students ask questions, you can approach him before or after class. Your grade is largely determined by a midterm and a final. He uploads all lecture videos and supplemental videos to gain a better understanding of concepts. Make sure to review outside of class.
Dr. Myles is the best! He cares about his students, and wants everyone to succeed. You are given all the resources you need to do well in his classes, it just takes a lot of effort. Working through the problems from lecture and recitation are essential to passing the exams. The class is test based so the exams are a big portion of your grade.
Dr. Myles is the goat fr
I've had other courses I've enjoyed more, but Dr. Myles has the best class structure I've ever taken. All of the lectures are recorded, and he doesn't have pedantic busywork like attendance, forum posts, etc. He gives you all of the resources you need to succeed from the start and its clear he genuinely cares about his students success.
This term is a bit of a learning curve. Can be difficult to understand what to study for since lab does not have much to do with what is actually asked on exams. No extra credit 40% based on lab 30% on midterm and final. Be prepared to teach yourself the material for exams since you will only have the "lecture videos" that don't cover everything
Impeccable in course structure and organization. Lab documents were very detailed, allowing us students to navigate the experimental procedures with ease. Dr. Myles was so helpful and friendly in lab. He created a chill environment in lab and the experiments were really cool. Best lab class at OSU!
4-week summer class is graded on 6 (small, easy) quizzes and 2 (big) tests - homework and recitations aren't mandatory but very useful bc there's lots of content. Fantastic structure if you test well/hate busywork. Lectures are excellent and tie directly to assessments. Assignments are due at odd hours if you are working (2pm) but open a long time.
Dr. Myles is a highly esteemed & respected professor. I didn't expect for organic chemistry to be easy but I realized that if I dedicated to understanding everything Dr. Myles said in his videos I would get 100% on exams. Ask questions even if you think it's stupid and don't miss out on his resources, I would kill to take his class again. Love him.
I found the material very difficult, but considering it's organic chemistry, that's to be expected. The course could have been much worse with a different professor. He also was very understanding when a personal issue caused me to be gone for a week during midterms.
He makes OChem feel simple. He repeats himself before you even have to ask for clarification. Great demeanor, very professional. Worth every minute of lecture.
Dr. Myles is amazing. He explains the complex concepts of O chem so well and makes it very clear on what you need to know for the exams. Labs seem hard at first but he explains them very well and is very easy to reach outside of class.
There is a reason Dr. Myles has such good ratings. He emphasizes what you need to understand on tests as well as making a tough subject like Ochem very clear and easy. He moves along with lectures and in-class examples but still answers clarifying questions relevant to the subject.
If the other reviews haven't convinced you already, Professor Myles is absolutely amazing. He cares about the success of each of his students. Even in a 300 person lecture he still takes time to answer questions and make sure each of his students know what they need to do on exams. He's a very likable guy and is probably the best professor at OSU.
Fantastic, engaging professor. Animated, passionate, and answers student questions. That being said, everything he teaches you or provides for the class is NECESSARY. Very interesting material that can be really hard to understand if you don't work at it.
Good lectures and well-rounded on the topic. The extra homework and videos were invaluable to do, even though they weren't graded. Gave opportunities to get extra credit and do quizzes & recitations so that the midterm and final weren't worth as much.
Dr. Myles is iconic and very engaging! Even though there is a textbook for the course, I never bought it or felt like I needed it to succeed in the content. His lectures are clear, concise, and worth attending. Overall, I enjoyed the structure of the course as it provided extra credit opportunities and grade buffering through attending recitation.
Dr. Myles is an incredible professor. Something about the way he lectures makes it so easy to understand the concepts. His slides and worked examples are we all thought out and helpful. Most of your grade is based on the exams and weekly quizzes but if you put in the effort you should do fine.
Great educational communicator. Well organized and excellent pacing of the material.
Dr. Myles is an amazing professor that truly cares about his students and their success in the class. He is very clear about what we need to know and is thorough in his explanations of hard topics. He also goes over many practice problems during class. He's very approachable and kind. I 100% recommend taking his class if you have the opportunity.
Dr. Myles is one of the best professors I've had at OSU. His straightforwardness about expectations and testing make the CH331/2/7 series incredibly manageable. There are many resources available for studying and practicing. Exams are multiple choice and which can be either good or bad. Some extra credit and freebie questions too.
Thank you for a great term of ochem! Very kind and patient with students. Looking forward to lab with you in the fall.
Dr. Myles is the best professor I've ever had! His lectures were very structured and he was very clear on what you needed to know for exams. He is understanding and is happy to help.
Professor Myles makes Organic Chemistry engaging and manageable. His lectures are clear and worthwhile - plus, unstuckstudy ai was a great study tool alongside the free textbook. Attend class, use available resources, and you'll excel in this challenging yet rewarding course.
One of the best instructors I have had at OSU. I had Dr. Myles for CH331, 332, and 337. Super approachable and willing to help. Waited a whole year to be able to take 337 with him because he is so great (course fills up very quickly). Clear lab expectations. I have so much respect for him as a researcher and instructor.
Myles is a great professor and an engaging lecturer. He really cares about his students and their success. The class is HARD, and I barely passed, but by no fault of the professor. If you have to take this class, he's the guy to go to.
Every class with Dr. Myles is a delight. He's very kind, incredibly helpful, and really willing to make accommodations so long as you give a heads-up. Knew my name by the end of term and said goodbye every lab. This class will make your hand hurt; start your prelabs like four days before lab. Straightforward labs, helpful TAs, slight curve on tests
Dr. Myles is a very inspirational professor who genuinely cares about his students. He is extremely well spoken during his lectures and he makes the content very easy to follow. Definitely the best professor I have had.
Great professor, good at giving lectures. I personally learn more in recitation since that's where I can apply the practice rather than just following along in the lectures. Highly recommend going over homework and lecture notes before midterm/final. Professor answers questions when you have them.
Go to lecture - he gives out free questions that will appear on the midterm and final. Down to earth and will remember your name after one interaction. Exams are easy if you do the practice exams. I recommend going to every recitation as they help a lot. Do the unassigned homework - very helpful and he sometimes pulls questions from them.
Dr. Myles is the best professor!!! Attendance is not mandatory because all the lecture vids are posted to canvas, but going to lecture is very beneficial! He gives out 5 questions that are on the midterm and 5 on the final in lecture which is a guaranteed 20%. He also offers an extra credit quiz which was an easy 3% bump to my grade during week 10!
Dr. Myles is such a good professor! Easily the best professor I have ever had. He gives you all the materials you need to succeed and if you use them you will have no problem getting an A in this course. Can be memorization heavy but overall 10/10.
Dr. Myles is a great professor! Although OChem can be difficult he tries his best to make the content clear and accessible. He also provides students with resources for success via homework and quizzes which a very relevant to the exams (DO THE HOMEWORK!). He's also very friendly and fun to talk to. Would definitely recommend taking his section.
Dr. Myles is the GOAT. He is an amazing lecturer and provides you the exact information you need for the exams. His supplemental videos are helpful and super easy to follow. He genuinely cares about the success of his students. He is the best thing about OSU
"Dr. Myles is a great instructor! His lectures are a fantastic resource and really help in understanding the material. He's also very nice and approachable, always willing to answer questions. Staying on top of the content and preparing well for tests is crucial. Overall, a great professor if you put in the effort!"
Dr. Myles is by far the best professor I have had at OSU. Ochem is a tough course, but he makes the material understandable. He genuinely cares about the subject and his students, and he's willing to help you with just about anything. I wish I had taken CH331 with him, and I look forward to hopefully taking CH337 with him.
Very clear in the lectures
Take every class you can with Dr. Myles. Heck, even if you don't need them take some with him just for fun. Ask him about his new Doctor Martins.
Professor Myles is an amazing lecturer, clear, caring, well-organized, and easy to understand. To succeed, keep up with notes, attend every recitation, and find a good study group. While the two-exam structure (midterm and final) can be tough, at least an A- is very attainable with solid studying.
Lectures not mandatory, but free exam answers given at random. Weekly quizzes, tons of practice material. You need to actually study for these tests. They are difficult if you do not know the material by heart.
Professor Myles is the best professor I have had at Oregon State, he truly cares so much about his students success. I also found his teaching style extremely helpful for o-chem because he goes over example problems in lecture. Make sure you go to lecture because he will sometimes give out test answers in the lecture.
Myles as a professor is fine; I think his lecturing is good and certainly helpful for the quizzes and tests. However, the course itself needs to be adjusted as the major tests are so heavily weighted on your total grade (Final is 40%). Overall, pay attention in lecture, absolutely lock in for the midterm and final, and group up for studying.
Dr. Myles is fire. His lectures are what got me successfully through this class. His repetition of key/difficult concepts is what really helped me. He also stayed after every lecture to help me understand the difficult concepts. His exams were super fair, well written, and reflected problems in his course materials.
