Knows his stuff, but man, is he boring!
This guy's class is boring..damn boring...dropped from his class
good overhead notes, some interesting material, mostly boring, good guy
Do all the readings, take good notes.. you'll get an A
I study really hard and get C+, no easy marks, MT has MC & 2-6short ans
LOTS of material, very hard term project. Prof is extremely helpful and kind.
hard term project....but I learned a lot...very good
He's a fair teacher, you just have to know your stuff.
Good over head notes but make sure to read the text as well. do the bonus projects itll help ur final grade !!!
he is...funny?
Horrible teacher. The exams are too hard and most students fail. His notes are all on the overhead, and too many pointless notes. When u ask for help, he only suggests the answers and doesn't give anything directly.
Can be funny, but makes an interesting subject dreadfully boring most of the time. Exams are vague & poorly worded. Class avg on 1st exam 57%. My mark dropped almost 40% from 1115 avg on first exam. Q's in text, study guide... should be fine.
horrible, horrible, dont take him!! too much stuff to remember and he wants u to remember his overhead notes word by word and i'm not exaturating.
midterms & final questions were unclear, he looks for more than what the question states, WAY too many notes & a lot of useless facts. The average for his midterms are all under 60%, people fail the MC or the written part.
too many notes and short answers questions .
He is one of the easiest instructors in the psychology department. As long as you show up to his class, take notes and read the material and do well on his tests, you are garaunteed an A.
So...attend class, take notes, study those notes, do assigned readings, and perform on exams and get an A. Hmm, wow, great rating for this teacher.
nice teacher always something to laugh about during class but sometimes it gets kind of boring and not clear on long answer part for midterm. expects too much and question isn't stated clearly therefore don't know how to answer
very nice teacher! he's funny, eventhough he gives a lot of notes, all you have to do for his tests is to memorize them, even if you dont understand them.
Great teacher, well organized. Big project but very interesting. You have to be ready to work but he will help you along the way. Good class material, my favorite 2nd year psyc course.
He is a well prepared professor. His tests aren't easy, but if you take good notes and study the text thorougly you will do fine. Not recommended for ppl. who don't love psych
really good prof
I can't believe this man is allowed to teach. Every class, i become more and more confused. His tests are SUPER hard, this the worst class ive ever taken. Project is REALLY long and tedious, i love psych. AND HATE THIS
does anybody now how many tests/papers/projects he gives??
I loved psyc until I met Nykon. His tests/papers etc are ridiculously difficult for an Intro 1st yr course. I understood nothing until a better teacher taught me the same course-PROPERLY
Great
First exam was simple... then came the actual course... he talks while you are taking notes and are most likely going to miss something important or even something that will make a concept more clear.. not a bad prof overall
While you have to be prepared to take lecture notes, that's a generally expected skill, so stop whining. Great prof, funny, good class involvment. Course is easy to coast through as long as you do readings and go to your lectures.
Term project is beyond 2ndyear comprehension,VERY unclear on what he wants, arrogant, discourages curiousity, and biased in choice of material.Final exam had cumulative questions even though he said there would be no cumulative questions. No control of class.
Do yourself a huge favor and don't take him for psyc. His exams are really hard but he is a good teacher. So you have to totally understand the material to do decent in his course. His exams are half written and half m/c. Very picky on the written part
good teacher, just study his notes. Interesting class, I think one of the best teachers for this course (1215)
Nykon is a really good prof. I learned a lot in that class. His tests are easy once you know what he wants out of you. There should be no surprises in his essays because u get topics in advance. I got an A with moderate studying
super funny guy.study his notes for written, study txt for mc,& he also gives bonus hw to boost ur grade.no term papers.i would take him again, loved the class.
This guy knows his stuff! Go to lectures, not only because if you don't you'll bomb the essay portion on midterms, but also because he's a blast. Multiple choice straight out of the text book and no term paper.
arrogant and thinks he knows everything but very selective of material. thinks he is funny. boring.
god this was a GREAT course. but the term project was RIDICULOUS.. 20-page term paper. god. and craploads of essay Q's on exams. if you work hard, you'll enjoy it. if you slack off. this course is not for you.
okay teacher, not bad at all cause he give you an opportunity to boost ur one letter grade up
very bad and boring teacher. Also very arrogant and egotistical
He defitnetly has a good sense of humor and he made the lectures an enjoyable learning experience.Midterms are half m/c and half written.Study the txt book for m/c and study your notes for written questions. He does hand out the questions a few weeks prior
BORING teacher. DUN take his class.
Dull prof. Makes a lot of mistakes about the information. Unorganised.
The tests were alright. I didn't find them too hard. Nice prof but Not very organized. I hated the 12 page term paper and presentation though. Now those were some of the toughest.
he gives essay questions for exams but they're okay. he's there to help when you visit him at his office. kind of arrogant but also funny. he collects old antiques.
alot of material is presented in a short amount of time well. Although I found the course difficult, I recomment Mr. Nykon if you like the lecture scene, and you do well learning from notes.
Hes nice, has a sense of humour, he knows what hes talking about, tests are easy as long as you study the lecture notes for the written and the text for the mc. Its pretty easy as long as you study. He also gives you a chance to boost your mark through extra assignments.
Very good teacher, excellent examples, fair tests and fun class, makes it interesting, very enjoyable class.
Dan Nykon is a very good teacher. He offers help and has good suggestions for papers and study tips. He is very clear and marks fairly. His tests are compatable with what he covers in class and his lectures are fun. I never once felt bored in his class.
He has interesting stories. He gives bonus marks to improve grade. hated the essay part of the exam. Blah, like 30 questions of MC in one hour isn't enough throw in a couple essay questions as well. He Gives too much notes in class, its hard to keep tract of copying and what he is talking about.
hate this class
As my first psyc course this was difficult. If you are good at taking notes and listening to lecutures this is a superb class for you. Mr. Nykon definitely knows his *****!!! class notes are clear, and make sure you read the chapters. overall pretty cool teacher.
Excellent Prof, knows a lot of stuff. Ppl who posted bad comments probably didnt enjoy psyc to begin with or didnt do well in the class. Hes funny, organized, & practically gives you the answers for the written portion of the tests. read study guide & notes and tests will be a breeze.
Sometimes the material he's covered is fun but some other times its completely boring. Give too much notes. He's OK but not excellent.
Funny man in class, curt when not in class. Write notes & any extra info he talks about b/c they're on the written part of the exams. Exams are hard & are really meant to test your knowledge, but if you study the textbook & his notes, you'll do fine. Looks like a cute chipmunk (it's the mustache).
Interesting teacher unlike what some people have mentioned. You definately have to work for your grade but if you study both the class notes and the textbook you should do fine, especially when he gives you the essay questions beforehand.
very boring teacher...speaks on a monotone
THIS GUY IS AWESOME AND FUNNY! I WENT INTO HIS CLASS KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT PSYCH BUT HE MADE IT SO INTERESTING AND EASY TO FOLLOW. THOSE WHO RATED HIM POORLY DONT ATTEND REGULARLY AND PROBABLY SIT AT THE VERY BACK OF THE CLASS. TESTS ARE EASY IF YOU PREPARE. I SERIOUSLY GOT AN A+ IN THIS CLASS.
one of the worst teachers at this college. horrible at explaining anything.
he is so so teacher. not that bad but cannot say i enjoyed his class so much. the only problem with his class is that there's too much note taking and no hand-out. his stories are interesting but i don't like his monotone. sounds too boring.
gotta love the guys shirts. he must work on articulating and speaking. He must take a public speaking course at Langara to enhance his lectures. nice guy and a fair marker.
Mr.Nykon is an amazing teacher, Yes u may sleep if your span of concentration is short. But he gives good examples, he is funny. Go see him if you have any qeaustions and he will be very helpfull, IN ADDITION he may give you bonus marks. He cares alot about how his students learn not only for his course but to help their learning skills generally f
good teacher. Really nice. is boring at times but tests r pretty easy if u read the notes and book. gives bonus marks and the tests dont have many questions.
Caring prof...was going thru' personal hard times and he was compassionate and understanding. Attend class, take notes and read text, and you will pass. He is funny too!
he's so boring/ he gets the whole class snoring/i had to deal with this guy for an entire semester at 9:30 every morning/
Excellent teacher. Dont go looking for easy marks. Makes you work but is mildly interesting. I would recommend if intrested in Psych, otherwise pad out the marks elsewhere.
Makes things more complicated than they should me.
Course content is interesting, however, not fond of him as a teacher. I wouldnt recommend him but the material is very interesting.
Great Prof, kinda unclear on exactly what he wants for the term paper so make sure to ask questions, marks fairly, the course itself is very hard to understand but Dan tries to ease it a bit with his examples, lectures are kind of boring but they are relevant to exam essays, not an easy marker but very straightforward in his exams
BORING classes, but super easy tests!! just read the text and look @ his class notes and everything is there. He gives out the exam written questions months before the exam so...lots of times to find out the answer (wouldn't kill you to find out on the last day either...) overall, not bad...
He is truly a nice and passionate teacher. He tells you exactly what he expects, and provides extra help to go over essay questions for the exams...he makes it super easy to get an "A". I think he's a great public speaker, extremely knowledgable on the subject and has alot of experience in the field. I would take him again in a heart beat!he rawks!
Let's say that he's not that hard but at the same time he can be if you don't show up to every single class. I do not recommend taking his 2hr+ classes because he gets really boring sometimes and it feels like torture trying to live through that 3 hr class.
Excellent teacher ! teach it with enthusiasm and keep the class involved. His material is well delivered and he always has a funny story to go along ( wich he will sometimes tell you a couple of time ). He is easy to talk and patient. Make sure to get a front row seat ( he mumbles quite a bit ) and you'll love it. Highly recommended.
Very fair, good natured and seems to enjoy his job, which helps a lot.
This teacher is fun and funny to listen to. Looks like the monopoly guy
very nice teacher he can be so helpful he basically told me the best way to approach the material to be successful and now my major is psychology
Honestly one of the most inspiring teachers I've ever had. If you are serious about taking psychology to learn something, you have to take this guy. He gives you the midterm essay questions a month in advance and will even check them for you before you write the exam and tell you what you need to fix.
He's okay, but BORING. His test formats and the way in which he choses to teach material to be on said tests are also very annoying and not well thought out.
Don't listen to the bad reviews! He literally lays everything out for you for the NONCUMULATIVE final/midterm: he gives out the essay topics a month before (it's your job to memorize it by then), all the multiple choice ques. are practically from the study guide. If you do/did bad in the course it's-your-own-fault. Or you're just a plain idiot.
irresponsible
nice and fairly interesting teacher but very hard marker
Be ready to take notes. Interesting content, nice guy very approachable.not the easiest class
He is the best! His lecture are very interesting. he seems to have the ability to grab students attention very well. He made psy more interest than ever. I LOVE this pro.! Tests are fair. You can learn so much from him! He knows his stuff so well. Highly recommended him!!!
If you want a good mark, make sure you go to EVERY CLASS!! I loved that he gives you the essay questions in advance of the exams. He gives you 4 choices and you pick 2. You can show the essays in advance to him and then memorize them!! I would recommend showing the essay q's to him first!! He is also very understanding when you go see him.
Always selects interesting material, anyone who says he is a bad teacher has not had a bad teacher.(try Rubeli) Dan Nykon demands and rewards hard work, if you are really interested, then take his courses and learn tons... he rocks!
Great, clear teacher. gives you all the info you need and is enthusiastic.
A little quiet. Uses a mic when the technology cooperates. Makes every class interesting with personal stories. Tests straight out of the study guide. Do the MC and you are set. ASLO: HE LOOK JUST LIKE THE MAN FROM THE NASAL STRIPS COMMERCIALS. WORTH TAKING HIM JUST FOR THAT.
By far the best teacher I've ever had. He's extremely intelligent, relatable, and fun. Goes out of his way to insure that his students are doing the best that they can. Attendance is mandatory as the exam essays are based solely on lecture notes, but I actually looked forward to going to every one of his classes. :)
Good teacher, funny!
Pretty much the most adorable man. His jokes are so hit and miss. It's super endearing. He is helpful and puts in as much as you do. Really, just show up to lecture and read the textbook and you'll do fine. My favourite class, by far, probably even if I wasn't interested in Psychology.
Excellent instructor! He previews and gives feedback on your essays for exam questions which was very helpful. Can seem crusty at first but has a warm personality and a great sense of humour. One of my favourites at Langara.
He is a great teacher. He provides notes which his tests are mainly derived from so going to class and getting those are pretty important. He also provides students with the written test questions beforehand and gives everyone an opportunity to answer and then show him to get his thoughts and instructional criticism before the test.
Best teacher! He's funny, he provides comprehensive notes in class which his tests are based off of. He Helps in every way he can and tells lots of jokes. He makes class as fun as possible. The only problem with him is that he talks quietly and even when he uses his microphone he turns the volume down
First week will seem dull as it takes him a while to loosen up. However, as the weeks progress, he will became one your favorite teachers. If not, you'll at least get a chuckle from his awesome albeit corny jokes. Great teacher. Made a lasting effect on me.
this prof is really funny! he makes class interesting, although i think his marking is hard. nonetheless, u will enjoy his class. highly recommended :)
His amazing! He's very clear in what he's teaching as he provides very clear examples, and this is very important for psychology classes. Classes are mandatory as missing one day of class will make you miss out on a bunch of notes. He marks very fair on his exam essays, as well as it's very important to read the text!!
He is kind of strict. His noted from lectures are what he bases the written parts of his exams on.
He is really funny and nice to listen to during class. The tests are basic.. he gives you the questions before the actual test to use to perfect and study. Most questions come from the notes and very little from the text but still reccomended to read it. super fun class he makes it very interesting.
He's one of the funniest prof's at Langara, period. Makes hilarious jokes when he realizes no one is interested anymore or dazing off. His tests are fairly simple, if you take notes in class, you are guaranteed a pass. Great prof overall.
Great prof! He is very engaging in his lectures and often will share a funny anecdote. His tests seem daunting at first, but he takes the time to tell you exactly what he expects on them. Very approachable and helpful when you see him personally.
Makes the class memorable, was one of the more engaging teacher. makes what will be on the test very clear and gives good content. A bit quirky but intresting for sure. not a easy marker but not to hard as well. Will also give the chance to learn some good collage skills via bonus marks. Not fun but does teach some good skills.
Dan is very clear and concise about his notes and exams. He gives you the essay questions well before-hand and encourages you to bring it in to show him before the exam. Really funny and entertaining, class is never boring. I'll definitely take another class with him.
AWESOME!
Very knowledgeable. You can learn a lot of interesting things and skills in this class. One of my favorite teachers. Must have good writing skills, most tests have essays
Not a great prof- very hard to understand, lectures are so dull, makes you write in-difficult class essays during exams which are ONLY allowed to focus on lecture material, and not textbook material (which the rest of the exam is on)... Got an A+ through doing his bonus materials, and had to work my butt off for it.
Just an awesome all around guy. He lays out what is going to be on the exams extremely clearly. You do have to spend a decent amount of time studying for his exams. He's not giving A's away for free that's for sure. He's extremely approachable and helpful, I hope I get the chance to take him again.
Really good teacher. I learned a lot of valuable skills in this class, especially critical thinking/analysis. Great guy, would highly recommend this class to anyone insterested in psych
WOW! Amazing teacher. Witty and insightful. I love attending his class. Essay Q on midterms which he allows you to write in advance and then see him for clarification/suggestions. Tons of bonus work available to boost your grade 1/2 a letter and 2%. Would highly highly recommend!
Exam formt is a huge pain, but easily do-able if you read the textbook, come to every lecture, and think about your notes. Dan's hilarious and makes (almost) every class worth attending. Feedback on your essays prior to the actual exam is also very insightful. He tells you how to make your essay into a 100%
Mr Nykon is an amazing professor, he is extremely helpful and understanding. He is a very funny and cool! Highly recommended for people taking intro psyh
This teacher will have some moments in class you will never forget. He is funny and quirky and "everything that happens, happens for a reason" in this class. Marks very clearly you know what your going to get walking into the test. Only real flaw is he does not use blackboard or anything online, he does hand out a lot of paper though.
Has an interesting sense of humour. Has a strong interest in the subject; likes engagement from the students; hard marker if grammar isn't your strong point; a bit old fashioned in the sense that he doesnt use online resources, which can be frustrating.
In his lectures he comes off as funny, witty, seems like the kind of guy you'd want to have a beer with. One-on-one he's insensitive and judgmental, God forbid a student should need clarification... His grading method is ridiculous: 30% 35% 35% - all midterms, which are 50/50 MC and essay. My class loved him to begin with, but that changed quickly.
Quite a character. Helpful one on one but NOT clear about what exactly is required for the written in-class essays. Hard marker for essays. Multiple choice are straight forward- do study the text book! Essays- are NOT based from the text at all, based purely on lecture notes. Lecture notes are written in his short hand.. can be hard to follow.
Very hard to hear him during lectures. His marking schema was incredibly confusing and frustrating overall. If you are a good writer, Dan, will quickly erase that notion from your mind as his grading criteria for essays change like the weather does from one day to the next. I learned a lot from his course, but he just wasn't a good teacher.
Dan is great. His in class essays take effort and time but if you pay attention and prepare in advance you will do well in the class. Reading the textbook isnt mandatory to pass but to do well it is. He will also give the chance to earn bonus marks. He made intro psych interesting with very little time. A smart man who loves his job and it shows
Daniel is an engaging, funny and motivated proff. He generally loves the subject and you feel that energy. He is also super predictable. Attend lectures, take decent notes and you'll ace his essay portions on exam. Study the e-book and you'll ace the multi-choice. I loved his class!
Dan insisted students take notes on the lectures, and you will need them for the exam. The advantage to this is you will develop a skill you'll need for the rest of your academic career. He moves through the material quickly, and inserts a lot of personal, funny anecdotes, so it's enjoyable. You'll succeed if you do the Learning Curve exercises.
I really enjoyed his teaching style. He gives you the written portion questions of all the tests at the beginning of the semester so you have more than enough time to prepare for it. The MC is completely based off the textbook so read that. Attend all classes!!
Very very very hard marker...
Dan is a great teacher you will learn from his class surely. Lots of writing though!! I found him to be super easy,do the learning curve for multiple choice questions. 30/35/35% for exams 30 multiple choice, 1 essay style, which he tells you exactly how to do. Barely need to study and you can get A+. 6 bonus points available. RECOMMEND!!
make sure you read the textbook of the exam. some pretty specific questions about it
Make sure you attend every class to get the notes because they arent posted online. For his midterms, the essay part is based on the notes. Make sure you do online exercises because the multiple choices there are on the exam! He is fairly generous with marking. He also gives out a lot of bonus marks by assignments and volunteers.
Hands down one of the best teachers ive had. He is passionate, funny and makes sure to engage the class thru examples and questions. If you wanna do well, make sure to attend all classes and workshops.essays are super t-the-point. m/c is all textbook, altho reading the important terms @ end of chapter reviews in workbook will probably get you a B
This guy is an awesome professor.Very knowledgeable about psychology and enjoys teaching it. He always uses good examples to demonstrate theories and ideas. Attend every class, do questions from the textbook and I also recommend that you record his lectures; he can talk pretty fast and its nice to have a recording to refer to later. Awesome class.
He's enthusiastic about what he's teaching.Essay exam questions are handed out before exams so you have time to prepare. The course material is relatively straight forward but with Dan,you have to be really specific and thorough. dont be fooled by his standards in the project, just do your best and he'll credit you based on that.
Great Prof. Funny, memorable examples of concepts. GO TO CLASS. He gives you exam essay ques ahead of time. If, for example, a topic has 8 stages inclu ALL 8 stages, not only 1 or 2. How anyone failed this part of exam is astounding. Use concepts at end of chapter and study guide quizzes. Really cares about students who are trying.
Personally, I felt like he spoon feeds you. If you do the work on Launchpad, practice quizzes and etc, and go to class, I don't see how you won't get an A. Tells you in advance what the essay topics of exams will be, gives workshops and tons of feedback to help prep, and the multiple choice are very straight forward and just like the practice tests
Took the Mixed Mode, and only wish it was regular so that I could have lectures with him twice a week! The online is helpful and easy. Lectures are engaging, concepts are explained really clearly. Lots of fun, outlines what he wants on exams and essays very clearly. Easy A. WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE AGAIN.
Disorganized notes. Goes over notes at light-speed. Overwhelms students with material. Hard marker.
I absolutely loved Dan's class. The exams are tricky, but if you put the effort in, it is not difficult to get an A. The term project was my favourite one I have ever done - he gives you so much space to choose your own topic, that you shouldn't be bored with it. One of my favourite professors.
He is a fantastic teacher. Could be considered a bit demanding of the level of work you have to do. But is very clear and encouraging. Tough grader if you don't do the work. Great lectures! Never boring.
Daniel has poor notes and organisation. His testing format is unfair and does not reflect your skill level. Prepare for complete self-study with your textbook. He tries to make class fun, but you'll wish the class was over 10 minutes in. Even if you enjoy psych, you'll find it very hard to pay attention in his boring and sleep-inducing class.
He tells stories regarding the topic which may help you apply the concept (topic) in real life. His tests consist of M/C and Essay with clear criteria of what he is looking for. Also, he gives essay topics ahead of time which I find helpful. His notes are fine but you have to listen to be able to elaborate it or expand the idea.
His tests are based on in-class notes and launchpad exercises. As long as you go to class, take notes, and complete the weekly launchpad exercises you're bound to get a really good grade. He's also really funny!
HIS NOTES ARE HORRIBLE. They don't make sense what so ever, you can't even find what he says most of the time in the textbook. His jokes aren't funny, his lectures are long and very boring. He doesn't even mark his exams, he gets a student to do it for him.
I personally found Dan to be a little disorganized. I originally thought it was going to be a easy course to grasp the concepts of pysc and the family but Dan's theories put a difficult analysis on the topic. He is a very hard grader when it comes to essays. Also if you miss class you won't pass as the notes are not referable to the textbook.
His Psy1215 class he has made clear is totally a skill building class. It is difficult, but it is incredibly helpful to understand how to manage difficult classes. He forces you to put in a lot of effort, but it is completely manageable. Go and see him after class, he is very helpful and can be quite motivating. Very nice guy and a great teacher.
so disappointed. i was so excited for this into class but got a shock with mr. nykon. he is the most strict marker i have had. he has odd guidelines you have to follow for every exam essay. 3 big papers to write.. all with his useless rules. marks /10 most ppl got 3 or 4 /10 and he didn't see any issue with his teaching. skip if you need a good gpa
He's not the prof to take if you want pysc for an easy A. The exams involve an essay component that must be based only off of lecture notes with no textbook information, so attendance and note taking is mandatory. He gives criteria for the essays that is very specific, but also ambiguous somehow. He's helpful out of class kind of
A very fair instructor, expectations are clear and he gives you every opportunity to succeed. Be sure to go to class as the lecture material is super important and will account for the essay portion of his exams. Has a dry sense of humour that is both witty and charming.
His lectures are really interesting and he has a good sense of humour. For intro psyc, this is a tough course, so if you're looking for easy all multiple choice exams look somewhere else. However, if you're genuinely interested in psychology and want to really learn something and improve your skills as a student, you're in good hands with Dan.
Dan is not an easy prof. It's definitely a skill building class. In all honesty, if you're looking to have a high GPA, this is not a GPA boosting class whatsoever. It's possible to get a good mark, however, you have to put in quite a bit of work. For 1215, there's 2 midterms and a final, plus launchpad (if you take the in class/online).
I really enjoyed lectures. He didn't just repeat what was in the textbook but tried to add real world relevance to what he was explaining. His lectures were engaging and often he was very funny. If you want to do well, you need to attend class so you can write a solid essay for the exams.
This professor talks way too fast for my fingers to type. He has a negative aura and tells you you will do badly if you also have a job along with school. He has a very clear criteria but generally crashed my spirit.
I enjoyed Dan's psyc course, but it wasn't an easy A. His exams were straightforward: 40 MC (similar to launchpad q's) and one essay q. He gave the essay q ahead of time. U need to come to the lectures to get the answers for his essay q's 'cause he doesn't post his notes online and doesn't want students to use the textbook for essay q's.
Amazing prof. Would def take his class in a heartbeat. Very realistic and witty personality so his lectures aren't too bad! You must attend class because 50% of his tests include materials taught in lectures. He will give you your short essay exam topics well beforehand so that you can be prepared for the exam. You can succeed and do well for sure!
Attendance non mandatory but needed to pass as his lectures only cover testable material parallel to the textbook. Exams comprised of m/c questions from the text and prvsly announced "short answer" essay questions based on lecture content. Weekly launchpad assignments based on the textbook as well. Lots of effort required to achieve a decent mark
Must show up for lectures since essays on tests are based on lectures. Notes are not clear, don't really know what he's talking about half of the time. Tests are m/c with a few essays. Do the hw and you'll get a good mark, don't slack off on the online sections it's worth 20% of your overall grade. It's an interesting class but he makes it boring.
terrible prof, wasting time. Won't even answer questions during office hours.
does NOT upload his notes onto D2L which require you to attend lecture to get notes - however notes are not clear. Heavily based on lecture "notes" and Launchpad as there are 10-15 assignments EACH chapter on Launchpad which adds up to about 100 assignments combined
Horrible teacher. Langara in general is pretty awful though.
"Is this making sense?"... Dan asks this 9 times each lecture, as he treats his students as if they are clueless. In reality, most people are waiting to leave and have already checked out mentally. The lecture content is interesting, however Nykon finds a way to put us to sleep and treat us like children simultaneously. Don't waste your time here.
I took the mixed mode class. Dan was nice but the lectures were very boring. Gives you exam essay questions in advance. Midterm was multiple choice and one essay. The essays are based on class notes only so you have so show up and take good notes. Overall, he was fine, just didn't make it interesting at all.
