Hah, he's not Transylvanian-- he's Romanian! Prof. Savu is easily the best Math teacher I've ever had. He's way overqualified to be teaching this class (does he teach higher levels?) but he's very friendly and explains everything very clearly. He's a professor who genuinely wants his students to get it. Top it off, he has an adorable accent!!

Great teacher. Best math professor I ever had. He asks you to do homework but he doesn't grade it. Sets quizzes (3 questions) every friday on the last 10 minutes but he grades really easly. He'll still give you half a point if you messed up an exercise. He really gives you the chance to get a good grade. You get more points if you don't skip much.

This guy knows his math! He's really friendly and willing to help anyone who asks him for it. Weekly quizzes, 4 tests, and a final. If you just do your homework every day, get help for the problems you didn't understand, and don't skip too many classes, you'll make an A. An easy class-- and does anyone else think Prof. Savu is way hot?

Dude, this guy is awesome. He's really "by the books" but I mean, he is so understanding. If you miss 2 or less days, he adds 10 points to your total grade, but I missed like 15 days and was supposed to lose points, but I talked to him, and he was understanding. Go to class, do the homework, ask questions, and a definate A!

He is VERY easy and very helpful! He gives extra credit on all quizzes and tests. The class is kind of boring but you get extra credit on the final for coming to class! Definitely take him if you are looking for an easy A!

Mr. Savu was pretty easy. He wants you to do well. Gives partial credit on test and quizzes. 3 test and a final. Quizzes every thursday. Doesn't take up homework but it helps to do it. Gives bonus points on final grade if you come to class and don't miss more than 2 days. His accent is a little tough but he's good. Take him..he's better than most.

Great Professor! Easy A as long as you go to class! Gives quizzes once a week and tests about every month. Goes over any homework questions at beginning of class. Very good at explaining things.

Class is a little boring but his teaching is very clear. He will answer all questions even if it takes up class time. He knows math very well and very competent in his teaching. He gives no more than about 8 quizzes and three tests along with a final.

He was awesome! He's from Romania, but he is probably actually one of the only foreign teachers you can understand, which is good for math. He wants you to do good, and gives plenty of opportunity for you to. You are an idiot not to do well in his class.

Mr. Savu is the easiest math teacher EVER. He understands the material and is willing to help no matter how long it takes. He pushed back our first test because one student e-mailed him and said she wasn't ready. Really understanding guy!! Get him if you want an easy A!

Class was boring & easy, attendance mandantory, if you come to every class you get 5 points added to final grade. I found it to be like basic algebra. Quizzes each week, counts best 6. Gives study guides, tests are identical, maybe diff numbers. Has accent but it's not bad at all. Wants to help in any way he can.

easy to understand... i had a chinese teacher for MATH 141 and i did not understand a thing! but he's very clear...give alot of examples in class and gives u a chance to ask questions! recommended! :)

He's very funny and tries to explain math as it applies in the real world, but he moves very fast and can be difficult to understand at times. He's open to questions though and if you email him, he'll usually get back to you. You do have to put in a lot of work for this class though, so study hard and buy the online version of the book as well.

do all the homework problems and the review.. try to understand what he is teaching and you will get an A.. take him...

He is an okay teacher, the work is just really tough. Class average is a 61. Expect to spend a long time studying. He gives you 5 points onto your final grade just for missing no more than 1 day. Tests and quizes come from homework, there are just a lot of problems per assignment. Doesn't grade homework, drops lowest 2 quizes. Not best or worst.

I really don't understand all the negative comments this professor has gotten. I'm taking this MATH 242 class this semester and I would highly recommend him. His tests are simple and straight forward but accurately cover the material. You WILL learn something in his class, but it won't be hard. Take him if you have the choice.

The best professor I've ever had. When I was failing at the end of the semester, I wen to his office hours and he tutored me 4 days before the test. I got a B+ in the class even though I was failing less than a week before the final. He is a saint.

I love this man! He grades super easy and will find just about anything to give you credit for, definitely a confusing subject but he's there to help if you need. Lots of work but worth it for the A

I have a genuine love for math but I love this teacher! Very helpful on graded assignments. Daily homework, no quizzes. I didn't buy or use a book and got an A in the class. Gives review sessions and online study guides.

One of my favorite teachers so far. Takes attendance, and if you only miss one class he'll give you 5% points on your final grade, which is HUGE. Test's come directly from reviews and he will give you a lot of extra points on tests. Very nice man and I stongly recommend him!

He uses online homework which is helpful. Its hard to understand what he is saying sometimes. He is helpful. His test at 6 questions with multiple sections in them. No study guide.

I think that Prof. Savu is actually a really good teacher. He goes through stuff, and sometimes it is hard to understand but if you go to his office hours he will explain everything. Webassign is annoying but it helps a lot. The extra attendance bonus points can help too. Calculus is really hard, but I'd take his class again.

He is a really great teacher and knows his stuff. I would recommend him, I was kind of iffy at first due to his accent, but its easily manageable to understand. If you need help he will definitely help, don't be afraid to ask for help from him. His grading in my opinion is more than fair, but you at least earn your grade. But tests are kinda hard.

Dr. Davu is the best! At first he makes his class seem hard, but once you get into the hang of things its actually easy. Go to office hours! He is very helpful. Grades fair!!

I had Dr. Savu for CALC 2. Easily one of my favorite professors. The tests are quite difficult but bonus points are easy to come by. He is entertaining and a downright brilliant professor. Test questions can be curveballs but you will be very well prepared for any future math courses. Would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Savu is a pretty solid Math teacher. His teaching is good, homework is good, exams arent bad at all he gives a lot of partial credit.

He takes fast notes. He tests heavy on trigonometry.

For me calculus 1 was pretty hard since I didn't take it in high school, but he did a good job explaining things and the hw he gave was very helpful. You can tell he's knowledgeable of the subject and is probably a genius just from the way he works out problems in class. He also boosts your final grade by 5% if you've missed one or less classes.

I LOVE SAVU! His classes are tough because the course material is tough. Savu cares so much about his students and is super knowledgeable about the course material. Tests and quizzes are extremely fair. He's very accessible outside of class and gets to know his students by name if they visit him. 100% will take him again if I have the opportunity.

He quite possibly could be the nicest professor I have had at this university. He really wants students to succeed. Comes off as a no nonsense professor but is actually really funny and will spend time on whatever you want to in class if you are confused. Loves questions and participation. 100% take him.

While there were definitely things that made the class very difficult, it was often to subject matter itself and not Savus method of teaching. It was clear how much he cared about his students, was entertaining and friendly in class, and always gave extra credits on tests which helped when a question was difficult.

He is a wonderful professor and excellent teacher; he explains concepts clearly and demonstrates numerous examples. The course has a decent amount of homework, which is to be expected of a math class, but Savu makes it easy. I highly recommend anyone who needs this class to try and take it with this man.

Savu was literally the best. Quizzes are similar to homework so write down homework problems and solutions. He goes over homework half of class, and lectures half. Im the worst at math and I passed with an A. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARENT GOOD AT MATH!

Savu talks to you like your smart so you really have to pay attention. Hes not going to explain something more than once unless you ask him to so dont be afraid to ask questions. It only seems as though he doesnt want to hear the question because of his demeanor. Pretty good teacher and hes based so thats a plus 1

I'm not amazing at calc, however, Dr. Savu was available to help me whenever I needed it. Genuinely really glad I had him as a prof in my last math class in my undergrad.

This class is challenging, but Professor Savu does a good job at teaching. Sometimes he will assume you can fill in steps, but just ask and he will go back and explain. He may pick on you a bit in good fun but push on him and you can get the explanations you need. Homework and tests aren't too bad but do the textbook practice for tests!!

Savu is the nicest professor I've had! He grades very nicely, as long as you show effort and you put in the work. He's also very understanding about sick days and he is always offering help when he can. He expects you to attend class regularly, though.

Very cool guy. All of the homework is online and you get multiple attempts. His tests are short and fairly easy if you study a little. At the end of the semester he allows you to do the math placement exam and if you get a 7 or higher on both sections he replaces your 2 exams with a 100. He is not super great at responding to emails though.

Amazing professor. Best advice - GO TO CLASS. he explains the content so well, spends most time going over examples you'll see on the exam. Gets to know his students, will tell you what to study if you approach him after class. I was super nervous as i didn't take calc in hs and he was the best professor to take. extra credit on exams too

He's funny and his test are easy. Lectures are long and boring, but he's a good teacher to take for MATH 111. Tests are really short and centered on a select few topics, so make sure you study.

Love this man, he really tries to help students 100% cares about his classes. Interesting guy and insanely hard math material but definitely made the class enjoyable.

Professor Savu was a very personable teacher. Sometimes he may assume you know material, but you just have to ask him to go back and explain if you don't understand and he will. He doesn't divert from the material too much, but when he does he's funny. Extra credit on tests = grade saver. Helps with homework.

In honors section he learned everyone's names, teaches difficult examples and answers questions about homework in class. gives extra credit on tests and also gives partial credit. the questions on exams are much easier than examples in class, but do all of the textbook review given before even though it is a lot!

The content was difficult and there was a lot of homework but Professor Savu was pretty flexible, helpful, and understanding. He was also pretty funny and gave us a lot of help in class with questions and showed good examples. He will show you notes from classes you missed and give you notes at the end of class if needed. The lab sucked though.

(Honors) The difficulty of the content is not Savu's fault, and he is truly patient (mostly). He tends to cut corners when showing examples, but he'll go back if you ask. He's hilarious/caring, & partial credit on exams is a life-saver. If you put in the work, you'll end with a good grade even if you feel like you have no idea what you're doing.

This class was very difficult, which I think in inherent in any Calc 2 class. Despite this though, Dr. Savu, although a bit odd at times (you have to know him to know what I mean), really did care that we were successful in the course and gave us every opportunity to do so. Do your homework, study, and participate, and ask for help! He'll give it!

Savu is great! The structure of his class is very straightforward. Calc III can be tricky, but his exams are not difficult (he gives practice problems that completely prepare you) and he offers extra credit with each one. He can be hard to hear, but if you keep up with the textbook and homework, you will find the iffy lectures easy to move past.

Savu can come of as a no nonsense professor at first but he is a pretty goofy guy. He knows the material really well so sometimes lectures can be fast paced but if you keep up with the textbook and homework the concepts can be grasped. Vector Calc can be hard to grasp but he makes his class bearable, with plenty of opportunities for extra credit.

He is a bit hard to understand in lecture, but the way he grades is clear in the syllabus. Midterms are hard, but if you do enough practice with the problems, you will do fine. He also provides extra credit if you have good attendance.

Great Professor. Geometry is tough but he really will help you and also curves exams.
