He really cares about how you do in class. Although this is a remote class He makes sure to give clear instructions and makes sure class isnt to boring. Hes overall a great professor.

Professor Shears is the type of professor that will make you laugh on your down days. He is always smiling and will help you with any questions no matter the time. In his class, we do a lot of speeches, hence the course name haha. I will definitely recommend taking his class. You will not regret it!

He such a great professor I would literally let him be my mentor because of his energy. Although we are required to be on the camera it was refreshing to have to wake up and look like someone which help me be more productive throughout my day. As long as you do the work you will pass the class he is an easy A or even B if you just do the work.

When you sign up, you might think its a lot of work, but believe me, its really easy work. I am taking him for session 2 and all you have to do is put in 2 hours of work per week. 10 quizzes (easy), 10 discussions (easy), 3 speeches (easy), and a group project (most work). Hes really an easy grader if you complete everything on time.

Professor Shears is a very understanding professor which was helpful considering speech class gives a lot of people anxiety. Pay attention in class and do the discussions and you'll be fine. The class is a little fast-paced but it also what makes the class easy because you get everything out of the way early.

This Public Speaking course was eight weeks total and it was amazing because I had an amazing professor. Professor Shears is a fair grader and cares about his students. As long as you complete your tasks, study, and participate in speeches as well as group work, youll pass.

I took professor Shears for an eight-week blended class, he really cares about his students, wants them to learn, and always gives feedback. Its an easy class. Unfortunately, you will need the textbook to do the assignments but tests and quizzes are open book. He allows you to work in groups for the exams to score higher. The speeches aren't hard. It's not even a real essay. The template he provides for the speeches actually helps to figure out what you want to write. Highly reccommend.

This professor is by far one of the best professors I've had. I absolutely love him. He makes this class supper simple and easy to pass. He's not a hard grader so that's a plus... as long as you do what you have to do then you most likely get an A, he does not focus much on the content of it. He's also very encouraging when you're doing your speech

Blended Class SPC1017 The best professor I have ever had. He has a different style of teaching and you will love it. Do your homework and you will get an easy A. Professor Shears gives a lot of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade.

The work was simple enough, he gave clear outlines for the speech all you had to do was insert your own information. Gives extra credit. Took him for the 8 week sessions had 4 speeches, 2 tests (done in groups), 10 discussions, and 10 quizzes. Much less work and stressful than may seem thanks to his clear instructions.

Took thIs course my first year and semester of college. This was a 8 week blended class and i dont regret taking it one bit. You definitely work for the grades you receive its definitely worth it. Since it was my first time taking a 8 week class, I thought it would be harder. Professor Shears made everything easier for me, since I also have a difficulty with public speaking, he never told me I couldnt do it, he always supported us in any way he could.

Professor Daniel Shears is one of the most amazing professors Ive ever had at Broward College. He was professional, caring, and fun. He made the class work and group projects fun too. He gives you the opportunity for extra credit to bring up your grade. Of course, you have to put in the work, but his class was amazing! 10/10 would recommend!

Professor Shears gives great feedback and is very understanding. This class is only 8 weeks long and will fly by! You will do great in the class as long as you do as you are supposed to. You will do fine as long as you come to class and participate. He allows you to do extra credit after speeches to improve your grade. Make sure you do your discussions and read the textbook. Certain vocabulary is needed for tests and discussions.

Very understanding and easy class to be in. Take attendance, engage in a short class, and do a few assignments and you are done for the week. The only troubling assignment you'll ever get is posting on different days for the same discussion. I like assignments to be one-and-done so it tripped me up a bit.

Taking this class made meet amazing people who are now my friends which I have lots of love for. I appreciate him for putting me in a group with them. One thing I didn't like was when we spent 1 or 2 weeks doing a group project and after the day of presentation another presentation assignment was due and it was done last minute.

Take the class you will get comfortable with the class fast and the work is a lot but easy just get it done and you'll get a nice grade!

The class is majority of speeches which also includes a group speech. The assignments given usually have a week to complete. Both the midterm and final are fairly easy especially if you have the textbook.

Professor Shears is organized and understanding. Every assignment has clear directions and a detailed rubric which makes getting a good grade in the class simple. Profesor Shears was the best profesor Ive had so far. Very kind and understanding, let us turn our cameras off for a few minutes and also let us look at our phones for a few minutes as well. During our speeches he didnt deduct any points if we mispronounced a word or got nervous. I would definitely take a class with him again if I could.

This is a great and easy class to get the credit but you have to do the work and participate. You will have small quiz and Discussions and 1 group project. You will have to buy 1 book which is Choices & connections. And many options for more credit.

He is very structured and very clear on what you need to do on the assignments. The workload is not too bad either. There is a considerable amount of work at the beginning, but after the first speech it's pretty smooth sailing. I ended up doing the 12 week class and I think that was enough time. Overall it was a great class and nice professor.

It was a online zoom class! Was easy going, funny at times. Overall pretty nice.

He's really forgiving and is genuinely interested in what we talk about and wants us to do good. I missed a class and never presented my speech despite turning it in and he let me do it weeks later which I was really grateful for. He also gave us many opportunities for extra credit which was enough to raise us a letter grade if needed.

I took Professor Shears online class SPC1017 and it was amazing. At first I didn't know what to expect....it ended up being the best course I took this term! I attended this class once a week on Fridays at 9:30, and I was a little skeptical because who goes to class on Friday. It was surprisingly one of the best academic decisions I have made. Professor Shears was an awesome professor. I took SPC1017 Blended. He was accommodating and super helpful when it came to making mistakes on lectures. He gives you another day to make it up. Great Professor. Highly recommend.

Took this as blended 8 week course. This class was very simple and laid out well from day on, and he was super positive with our feedback on speeches. There was a good amount of online work and quizzes but it was simple to do, just takes some time.

What I like the least about a class is having to speak in public. Speech class is all about that. Professor Dani makes you feel confident and comfortable with his class; also he offers many extra credit points. I really enjoyed his class and it made me lose the fear and feel comfortable when speaking in public.

He is the best professor to take for communication or speech class he is really easy just discussion quizzes online work and speeches (talking) and of course a final group presentation he is the best is really recommended if you want this teacher.

I took the online live 8-week class and really enjoyed it. I was unable to attend a few classes and he was very understanding. He offers a lot of extra credit and the assignments are easy you just have to complete them. I would take his class again or even another class by him if I could. He was one of my favorite professors.

In his class, you need to pay attention to what he is saying in classes and remember to do the Discussions and quizzes, make sure Discussions follow all requirements to get full grades or zero. Overall, he gave us many chances to earn extra credits. Try to catch those chances!

This was a Friday 3 hour class that I took for spring semester and it was by far one of my favorite classes. Professor Shears is so caring, communicates clearly the requirements for each assignment, so easy to talk too, gives you amazing feedback, is fair and is available for any questions/concerns you may have which he addresses. I took this course on a Friday for 3 hours in class and it was a lot better than I had anticipated. You are required to do the discussions and quizzes and do it according to the rubrics to receive a full grade. Professor Shears makes it easy for you to understand the speeches and to follow them through accordingly. I highly recommend this class!

I would definitley take this professor again. His ability to brighten the room, and lighten the weight of the students is amazing. Although the work can seem like a lot, with his help managing it seemed like nothing.

Shears made the course very enjoyable. I do not like public speaking, but he made this class a comfortable environment and encouraged us. We had to do 3-4 speeches and some discussion posts and quizzes. He is nice and takes the time to get to know his students. The course is quick, but it is manageable and easy. I took his class over the summer. I never saw a professor so quick to reply to emails ever. I have problems with doing stuff on time but he kept me on track. He uses Remind and even replies after midnight. He even called people in my group to see how they were doing. Felt like a class on campus and not just online where you can never get advice.

Although this was an 8-week blended course, I'd say this course was pretty easy-going. Teacher's a very chill guy and is also reasonable with his grading. I will say that we did about 3 speeches and there was a group project we had to do, but they weren't *that* hard. Overall, I had about an 88% in his class and was pretty happy about it.

Professor Shears was an amazing professor I truly truly enjoyed his clas and personality! He doesn't take in late work but gives you enough time to complete the work. If you stay on top Of the discussions and quizzes there's no way to fail! I hope I get to take one of his classes again :)

easy grader and fun class

Professor Shears is one of the best professors I've had so far. The only way you can fail this class is if you don't do the assignments. He is very easy to talk. He also responds to messages on Remind very quickly. Not a hard grader, even if you're not comfortable with doing speeches. Great teacher!

This class was great, I was in session 3 and his class was so much fun. I met so many new people in this class and have made many new friends. This class also helped me with public speaking, before this class I used to get major anxiety but thanks to these speeches, I'm able to speak perfectly in front of people now.

Professor Shears helped me get out of my shell I usually do not like presenting speeches in class but professor shears made it easy to communicate in class and made it better and easy to pass this class.

This was my first speech class and I learned so much that'll affect my conversational skills and even communicating with my future associates, at first I was nervous about speaking in front of a bunch of students but really I learned at the end of the class that we're all human and Daniel really helped me in speaking.

The course overall was an easy experience as long as you do the work on time and easy guidelines. The work was simple nothing too hard. If you do the bare minimum you can either get a low A or a high B. The extra credit opportunities as plentiful and if you want an easy class that's not stressful, this is the class you want.

The teacher is really good teacher. He was a great guy and very understanding. Group work and presentations but the group work is very good. You'll never expect the group work to mean so much but I love my group and I'm happy that we did group work in general.

Well, When I first signed up for this class I did not think I would like this class because I was not a fan of public speaking so I was a bit nervous. By the end of the class I feel much more comfortable about doing speeches. Especially when I finished doing my speeches I felt relieved. Prof. Shears is a wonderful professor and is very clear.

Professor Shears is a very understanding teacher. He is able to sympathize with the students in his class. He doesn't expect the best out of extremely anxious students. He grades extremely fairly.

His teaching skills are superior, I learned a lot in his class, he is hilarious as well. He is very patient, brings in snacks sometimes and as long as you come in and do your work it shouldn't be difficult to pass the class.

The professor did a great job conveying the material clearly, with the speeches the professor included speech outlines to use to guide you on how to outline your speech he gave both a hard copy(packet) and also had them online on D2L. He is very accessible and easy to reach outside of class, so if you send him a message he will respond back fast!

Professor Shears allows you to gradually adapt to speaking to an audience. His lectures were very intresting, and inspired students to speak on important issues we did not know existed. The course content allows you to grow as a speaker and is a short 8-week blended course.

Professors Shears SPC 1017 was my first class in a long time after deciding to go back to school. His online class was easy enough but you do have a group project and 3 recorded speeches. He's easy going with the grades and provides feedback when needed. He also replies pretty fast through the Remind App. 5/5 recommend!

Hands down, Professor Shears was one of the greatest professors that I've had. During the 8-week blended course he was very understanding and available 24/7. I've never seen a professor respond as fast to my messages as him. He is not a tough grader and gives great feedback to ensure you actually learn and do better next time.100% would take again!

I just finished an eight week speech class with Professor Shears and I absolutely loved it. At first I was a bit nervous because I do not like public speaking but he made the class fun and enjoyable. If he realized that you were fumbling over your because you may be nervous, he would tell you to take your time and don't rush it.

This is a great class! Once a week classes with 3 speeches spread out, a couple discussions and short quizzes. I'm expecting a B in his class because I didn't do as well in my speeches (he looks for eye contact). He also has a group project due at the end of the class.

When I took this class it was a 6 week accelerated class The professor communicated often through emails giving general feedback specific feedback in the grading comments He's easy to reach through the remind code he gives, and responds rapidly when you message him in a reasonable time Some directions conflict a bit, but were clarified 9/10 overall

Professor Shears is wonderful at communicating and makes the class enjoyable. It's an easy class where you record your speeches, and only the final one requires six people, either in person or virtually. He's a fun and supportive professor, definitely a great choice for speech!
