I had daniel in the summer 2008. He writes his own tests, doesn't try to trick you. He is very meticulous, so, write down everything he says word for word. Overall, he is a good teacher in that he knows his stuff. He loves answering questions and encourages dialogue during his lectures. Study hard, there is a lot of material to this class.
Professor ****sky was ultra cool. I had him for an online course and i was glad to have learned alot of things from him. I would suggest him to anyone studying in the medicine field
I had this teacher, and he was great. the class is hard, not the teacher. His notes are mandatory to pass the class, but he is always there to help, jokes, and is down to earth. he doesnt trick, he is just precise. i reccomend this teacher as he is there and there to teach
Great proffessor!!! Helpful. Responding to emails in couple minutes (you won't believe). Hard class but if you try you will get a good grade. Highly recommended!!!
Awesome teacher. Very clear in his lectures, but tests are difficult. You need to know your stuff or you won't pass the tests....gives a lecture and lab test separately on the same day....tests tend to run between 150-180pts. Overall great guy who loves to teach...
He posts his lectures on blackboard. He provides resources on COURSECOMPASS which is a priceless tool for studying and fine tuning your knowledge. He has a great quality to teaching, he piques students interest by asking questions during lecture and encouraging each student that they are doing well when participating. He is very inspiring.
Content of class is challenging but he breaks it down for you so you can understand it. He only holds you responsible for his notes not the book. Very easy on the eyes!
I would recomMend evrEyone this teacher. ONLY IF you ArE serious ABOUT THE SUBJECT. HE IS NOT HARD, IT IS THE MATERIAL. BUT EVEN IF YOU DESCRIBE THE MATERIAL IN HIS WORDS YOU WILL GET GOOD GRADES. BOTTOM LINE YOU HAVE TO USE BOOK AND HIS NOTES TO GET GOOD GRADE. I LOVED HIM HE WAS FUNNY WISH I COULD TAKE HIM FOR 431
Great teacher, nice, fair, helpful, also very FUNNY. offers e.c. (30 pt), curves exams, gives 30 pts for good attendance & participation, 6 exams (was hard: had multp choice, fill in the blank, essay ?s) & 1 Final (SUPER EASY!!) also a few HW. uses Powerpoint 4 notes, he tells u what's on the test, so focus on ur notes! take him!!!
Professor ****sky is a very good professor. He is passionate about A & P, so he sometimes expects more out of the students. He uses Blackboard to post notes etc. He is very helpful and his door is always open during office hours. He is very sweet and funny and wants to see you succeed. The class in general is hard, but helps you understand.
Excellent, caring, funny and helpful! If you are passionate in your studies, and are planning to be an excellent healthcare provider, then this is the professor you need. The class it's self is very overwhelming, but Dr. ****sky will help you along the way. The lectures are long, but he makes them interesting and funny. Lectures are posted on line,
I really enjoyed his class! He's very knowledgeable, helpful and funny! The subject itself is very intense but he teaches it in a way you can comprehend. He doesn't give outside work because he believes that distracts you from learning the material. I recommend him to anyone take Bio 430! Take good notes because exams are based on his lectures!
Great teacher. Very fun, knowledgeable and helpful professor. Attendance is not mandatory but don't miss class. This subject is very difficult so study early and ask him questions for clarification. I wish I could take him for 431.
He teaches to the content that he expects your to know and even tho attendence is not mandatory it is highly recommended. This is a great teacher. He really cares!!
He is a nice guy! I took him in the fall of 2008 and was so frustrated because I tried so hard and only pulled a B. He would say that he knows he's hard and we will be more prepared for 431. Now, finished micro and 431, I was ahead of the game and felt like he prepared me and got A's in both. But at the time I was so angry, it felt like boot camp.
Dr. S is a nice guy but the hardest teacher ever. Took summer A&P what a mistake. I spent over 30 hours a week studying and pulled a B. Over 60% of the class failed and only 5 As. I am now taking different Prof for 431, what a difference! Dr S is a good lecturer but tests are insanely hard with Lab and Writen same day. NO STUDYGUIDES for tests!
Honestly, yes he is pretty demanding and therefor hard. But he is very clear in his lectures and has a really good teaching style. He is great at answering questions. Tests have MC and short answer and 5pt e.c. He curves all tests. Final is cummulative 100 pt MC. Bio is hard class period but this prof is highly recommended.
No study guides. It means-study whatever you want and pray there won't be questions on test you didn't study))Another thing:he combines two different systems for a single test(like respiratory+endocrine). That's when the class did really poor on tests. He curves all the tests though.Final is 100 MC questions, and it is pretty deep and hard((Study!
He really likes histology questions, questions based on epithelial tissue types for each organ, hormones questions. Also pay attention at numbers when you study for tests.Take pics of all the models and charts in classroom and study them;they will be on lab exams. Not too much extra credit:15p for SSC and 10 for 2 visits during office hours
Lecture tests are 30-33 MC questions+essay question.Get used to "be specific" phrase, because that is the main reason why your points are reduced by half for each essay question))Lab exam is on the same day.Two of them are powerpoint-based,the rest ones "jumping"from station to station(from one chart to another model...to another microscope).
He is a great lecturer and very helpful;however,it doesn't make the class to be easier.Lots of studing! You have 5 lecture exams+5 lab exams+1 cumulative final.Very little homework and in class assignments.Sounds great but not so great in reality.Your grade is based on your tests' scores. And if you are not doing great, imagine your total grade((
I took the second half of A&P from this professor. I knew it would be a difficult class so I was prepared for the work load. He does not give study guides for exams, but they follow his lectures. My advice is to look over the study guide and find the topics in the book and READ!! reading def. helps on the exams! good luck!!
Ok so this is a difficult class to begin with. Daniel tries to do everything he can to get you to learn the material. Spelling counts, essay questions, very elaborate tests. Not alot of other assignments. Howeve, he grades all tests on a curve. NOT A BELL CURVE! What else can you ask for. Mor than generous but you are going to have to work alot.
Took this class in the summer. He's demanding but is also very clear on what it is that he wants. Be prepared to devote yourself to this class. There is a lot to learn and he expects you to know everything throughly and prove to him that you understand everything throughly. You will need to study every day to succeed. Stay focused.
Very helpful and nice. In summer had 5 lecture exams and 5 lab exams (on the same day which are curved in a way that he takes the top score and that is how many points the lab exams are out of & 50 question cumilative final (not curved). Memorize every model and picture for lab, even from the lecture tests, they end up on lab as well. Good luck!!
People should be honest when rating this teacher. He is hard and his class is given at a very fast pace. It seems like he wants to cover all of his chapters without caring if the student understands them. The worst part is that he does not offer extra credit. Basically your grade is based on your exams. Dont take his class.
People why dont you speak the truth? Hes a hard teacher that teaches at a very fast pace. it seems like he is always in a rush. and he does not care if the students fully understand the subject. Very few oppurtunties for EC. Dont take this teacher you will regret it.
this is a HARD class. if you have a hard time memorizing things this is not the class for you. he do not requiring reading of the book but you have to know everything he says. he is very fast and not much help. he knows his stuff but not much help. try to make this your only class if you want to do good pretty much your tests are your grade
Hard material. Prof. will take as much time as needed to make material clear. You MUST study, study to do well. Exc. with answer email. Grades on curve (not a strict Bell curve). Prof. interested in his students, but you MUST be self-motivated. If you are lazy, don't take ANY Bio 430 class. He is clear on what will be on tests - tests on his lectur
he knows his stuff but he teaches the way he was taught from the university he came from. it is his way only. will not change to give powerpoint information ahead of time. ask, ask, questions. slows him down....
Reading this instructors views, actually shock me. This instructor has been the best teacher I have ever had. I have my bachelors degree in biology and need to refresh in A/P skills for grad school. I feel extremely lucky to have had him as my instructor. He is thorough and yes hard by this topic is not hard, you need to suck it up and do the work.
I loved the way he lectured/ explined things. But on your part you have to study all the time, because he does NOT have studyguides, ever. So to do well, you absolutely cant procrastinate and expect to study everything a few days before the test. Make sure you study right after each lecture & review things he emphasized most. Also for lab stay the entire time + go to open lab to study models. && you should be good to go. This class is hard, but you can get through it if you try your very best :)

The class is hard and he is even harder, no stury guide, lecture slides only after he lecured, and cumulative final. Good luck. Take somebody else.
Slutsky is INSANELY HARD!!!! He is really nice and knows all of his stuff but his class is really hard to get an A in. No study guides, and its really hard to take notes because he does not write anything, he just speaks so its hard to understand the stuff and write it at the same time and tests are crazy hard!
hard to please him on exams, and no study guides for exams, no lec slides before the lecture, plus cumulative final, not easy at all, good luck, i am suggesting you to take someone else.
I don't know what some of these people are talking about. Daniel is awesome and he does care very much if his students understand the material. Yes this class is hard but it's because the subject is hard. You have to study!!! It's true there are not very many ex credit opportunities. You do have to earn your grade.
I liked this teacher. His explanations are great. Sometimes he will go over the hard material a few times just to make sure students understand it. He uses the white board, gives handouts.I love it. It is a hard class, you need to study to get a good grade. Lecture tests are easier than lab exams but for both you have to study. I would recomend it.
He is legit. He is really funny, makes A&P fun, and he is extremely intelligent. It is on a very rare occasion that he does not know an answer to any question you have. He sort of follows the book, he teaches what is pertinent. I highly recommend him if you are pre-med or pre-nursing. You will learn more than you ever wanted to know!
Daniel is an Amazing intructor! I had him for 430&431. You have to study, but he gives you the chance to succeed you just have to take it. He gives extra credit questions on exams, there are lab and lectures tests and they are not easy. But he knows his stuff, teaches very well and will help you!
I hated his class!! Impossible to please!
While he was a very nice professor, his class is extremely hard his exams are very tough. You must study really, really hard if you want to pass his class
I took him last summer. Besides the pre-req Chem, this was my first "real" science class. I got a 97. I studied hard and put in extra time but he is great! I wish I could have taken him for 431. He helps with what is on the test. Yes, you have to put effort in people. Nursing school, or whatever you are going for, is not going to be easy!
Hands down best anatomy and physiology professor at ARC. Tough but fair and very clear on what he expects from you
This professor knows how to simplify the complex information into simple english. He goes over complicated processes over and over and draws them on the board, so you fully understand. He is clear on what essay questions to expect on the test and he curves the tests, so you have more of a opportunity for a higher grade.
This teacher is great. Took him for Bio 430 and did really well. He is average in easiness, no study guides but he teaches, explains, and goes over things a million times. PLUS he doesnt mind answering questions even in middle of lecture. Overall pretty cool teacher, knows his stuff and I really learned a lot.
Honestly, the subject requires a lot of commitment and work if you wish to be successful, but you can do it as I did! Daniel, by far, one of the best professors you can ask for, trust me! He's highly intelligent, very helpful, and wants you to succeed. Tests: 5 labs & lectures. Final replaces lowest lecture test score, plus much, much more!
This is not an easy class with any professor. Daniel's lecture notes will leave your hands cramped from the amplitude of information he gives at every class. You cannot miss a class without falling behind and you should take advantage of open labs to be successful. No study guides for the exams. Have to cram everything.
He is very intelligent and nice teacher, explains everything many times, his lecture tests are not very easy, but much easier than lab, no simple question in lab exams.
Daniel is a great instructor. I took him in Spring '13 and did very well. Yes, there is a lot of reading and studying, but you have to know this stuff really well. He uses a combo of powerpoint and whiteboard drawing. Goes over important concepts in detail. No study guides, essay ?s on exams. Leaves some neuro out. Hes a great teacher.. take him!
Took his class over summer,& although it was very overwhelming, you won't find a better teacher. He goes over difficult concepts,& whatever he writes on the board, know; it will more than likely be on the test. Most of the points on his exams come from short answers; had extra credit questions on every exam too. He is hard, but he knows his stuff.
took him for 430 and got an A, he explains really good. His tests are very fair & completely in line with his lecture slides. He also grades tests on a curves so that helps a lot. Wish I could take him for 431 but he isnt teaching 431 this semester :(
Dr. S is the most amazing Bio prof. At Arc. You will leave his class with a complete understanding of the material. He is an excellent lecturer , I was never bored. You have to work hard, but he gives you everything you need to get an A. Ask him anything and he will always explain . He wants his students to succeed and have fun. DDS is legit
Dr. S is amazing! Absolutely take him if you can. By no means is his class easy, but it's a hard topic in the first place. It's even harder if you don't have a clear teacher, which Dr. S is not only clear but very very helpful. Loved his class
He does explain really good but does not give study guides so you must read the book & have to know this stuff really well to get a good grade, his lab tests are jumping from station to station with models
His class was ok even though it was early morning to stay awake. when he grades it was confused. the Beacon section is an extra credit, the tutor did not help. He is pretty easy. he wants us to explain in more details in the essay question on the exams. easy to talk to. just in lab exam he curves the grade to the one who has the highest grade
I highly recommend buying a recorder and recording all lectures. His tests are more difficult than any test I've ever taken. There are at least 8 essay questions on each test. He covers a lot of information during each lecture so missing class is not an option.
DO NOT TAKE HIM DURING THE SUMMER. He is good and explains everything really well, but he is very much a "tough love" kind of prof. More than half our class dropped because the class is so hard and his exams are intense. I would take him during the regular semester, but taking an A&P class during summer is a mistake.
Very hard grader and difficult to impress him with essay questions. Essay questions make up half of the grade in lecture exams. More than half of the class end up dropping his class. Otherwise, he is very passionate and knowledgeable about teaching, but I wouldn't take him again.
Absolutely LOVED his lectures, he does a great job with explaining the subject, BUT I wouldn't take him again. His lecture & lab exams are same day which is tough! He has a lot of essay questions that are so hard to get full points on (down-grades a lot & wants too much detail).LOVED learning in his class but HATED the way he gave his exams!
good lectures, goes over everything you need to know for exams. didn't use book. rec and relisten to lectures. exams are very fair. he tells you what to expect. easy class.
Have a lot of fun in his class and he gave a good lecture but man, his lab exam are really hard and the essay questions is just there to make you lose points. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!
bio 430 is a hard class guys - any professor will be challenging, however professor S really teaches you how to tackles challenging information. His class is really special and if you want to be better at learning in a higher institution then take him. He has a PHD in the CNS and that's very impressive. got a B -didn't put in the A effort, my fault
SUPER LONG AND HEAVY LECTURES. If you miss a class you will definitely fall behind a few chapters. Moves very fast during lectures and expects you to know everything.
Great teacher! Very knowledgable and personable. Study his lecture notes and pay attention is class, he will tell you exactly what he will want on the tests and how to word the answers. Don't miss class or you will fall far behind!
I absolutely loved taking Bio 430 from Prof S so much that I am taking him for 431. He makes class fun and informative. Yes you have to study the material to pass, but the lab exam is curved and he tells you every time what topics will be a good exam question. He is a fantastic teacher.
His tests are LESS than 50 questions long for his lectures and usually between 60 to 85 questions per test. His lab exams, he will ask you to identify the part but he will ask you the function, structure, even the specific histology components. His lab exams are most difficult. He uses power point.
-He does extra credit (15 points for SSC or open lab) -He does curves -Replaces low exam grade with final exam grade -Lab exams are beyond difficult (structures, function, tiny parts etc) -Bulk of his exams are essay/short answer based. Little multiple choice -Use powerpoints to lecture -I wouldn't take his class again.
One of the best professors I have taken. I recommend him if you are up for a challenge and are truly committed to not only learn the information but also be able to apply it and be tested in various ways. The class is very difficult and the lectures can get extensive but you will learn more in his class than any other. He provides all the material.
Toughest professor ever but took him for both biol 430 & 431 because he really knows how to explain everything clearly & with a flow. Tests have a lab/lecture portion with 5 tests for the whole semester plus cumulative final. He loves short essays for the lecture portions & grades them with extreme detail. Need to study for lab portion on your own.
If you want to actually learn and have some fun doing it, take this professor! He was the best professor I've had thus far at ARC. Lectures can be long, but he teaches the material in a way that you can be easily understood. He really cares about each students success. Definitely write down everything he says during lecture and STUDY for lab exams
Sultsky is awesome at explaining but his lecture essay test is what brings you down. Hes very detail on that portion so you have to do good in order to get full credit. Study had because this class is no joke!
I took 430 and 431 about 4 years ago. Im now a working RN and still reflect back to his lectures and the stories/diagrams he used to make the information memorable. His pathophys essay qs require a lot of detail to obtain full credit but practicing explaining the processes helps a lot for exams and real life healthcare practice. Use extra credit
I feel sorry for myself and all the students who take his class.
I'm a foreign student, so my English language not that good and taking A&P class for the first time in my life can you imagine how challenging is that? With his amazing way of teaching and the great effort he's making, to make sure we are understanding the matirial perfectly, I'm optimistic about my grades and definitely will take him again:)
great professor in terms of teaching, very interesting lectures but expects his students to learn large amounts of information in short periods of time , other professors teaching the same info only tested on half of the information that he expects students to cram into 1 exam in the same amount of time. He is a nice person and professor just tough
Take this class! Heres how to get an a: record the lecture and listen to them while you study and focus on recordings and powerpoints. Anything he writes on the board will be on the exam. Also pay attention closely he tells you whats going to be on the exams and how he wants you to word the answer. This class is very doable.
If you are having difficulty in any way he will make time for you he's your biggest cheerleader. He wants you to pass but if you don't make the effort then you won't. He simplifies things. Very patient. Took him for 430 as well. His homework assignments help you study for the test and his study guides as well.
Daniel is a great professor. He's funny and really knows his stuff, but his exams are just so damn hard. Granted, this is a hard class and I should have studied a lot more than I did, but I still feel like the tests were graded too harshly. Retaking this class with a different professor and I'm much happier. He's an outstanding guy though.
I love the way he teaches. I'm definitely taking him next semester for 431! He makes the 4 1/2 hour lecture bearable. He gives you 2-3 15 minutes breaks in between. Lab and lecture exams on each system. I mean yes you definitely have to study for this class but I mean it's AnP. Gives you all info to pass the TEAS if nursing.
His classes are definitely a lot of work compared to other Anatomy/Physiology professors. If you are a nursing student his 430/431 are a must. My TEAS Science part score was amazing thanks to the depth that he makes you cover in his classes. He tests you only on the material covered in lectures and labs. There was never a surprise on the exams.
Excellent teacher for a difficult course. This class isn't impossible, you just need to put in serious study time. anyone should be able to get an a if they try. All the material he goes over will be in the test. I took 430 in summer but do not recommend. Doesn't leave much time to study and the material comes so fast.
I took his class over the summer. Hes really good at thoroughly explaining the material however his exams were difficult. He pretty much tells you what he will test you on especially for labs its just the amount of content to know in the given time is too much for one person. You need to know ALOT in order to pass his class and hes very specific
Such an amazing professor. His lectures are awesome and he is hilarious. I took his 7am 430 class and he made things interesting. His tests are really hard but he is a fair grader and goes above and beyond to help you if you ask him. His detail will ensure you pass your TEAS!! Im signing up for 431 in the spring with him.
I would never take this professor I would have a chance to go back. Exams half multi choice question, half essay question. Gotta be as specific as possible. If you got B with this professor with any other that would be A. Tough grader, dont expect much of extra credit. Do not recommend! Look for other options!
Tough grader. Tests are very hard, half multiple choice and half essay questions. On the essay ?s you have to write the answer EXACTLY how he covered it in class, or he will take off points. Tests are curved but he doesn't drop tests. Final replaces the lowest test score. The subject he teaches is already hard but he makes it even harder.
Everyone complains how hard he is but I'm average and I got an A. It was not easy with two kids, work, a wife and during summer session. I ended up with almost 100% on the science portion of the TEAS. Take this teacher if you want to learn. Take other teachers if you aren't willing to do what it takes to reach your goals and not be the bad nurse.
DO NOT TAKE HIS BIOL431 Absolute garbage of a class he teaches, grades you on what you should know from previous classes on top of what is being currently covered. Half of the exams are essay questions, that he nitpicks to the slight misspelling of a word. Doesn't drop the weakest tests, he makes it so much harder than it needs to be.
Please do not take this professor. He is extremely very hard. This class is very fast pace. He is very rude and not helpful at all in this class. Very discouraging.
I'm currently taking 430. Still not sure what my grade is, but I love this course. He's actually very smart, respectful and funny person. The material itself is very hard and there is so much to memorize. But, I don't think it has anything to do with the professor. I have no time to study. And trust me, If I can do well in this class, anybody can.
shouldve read the reviews a bit better. talks to you like if you should already know what everything means without explanation of topic. He can be very rude & sarcastic. trust me if you have an emergency he doesnt care. he will make you watch videos & still take notes. makes you study as if u get paid for it! You will have 0 time for yourself.
This class feels like a year-long prison sentence, that being said he is still a great professor for those who are serious about their education and wanting someone who knows their stuff. His lectures are long and he grades quite hard I'm not sure how I've kept a B this far. If you're ready to work for it take his class, if not keep looking.
Teacher is very educational Class is hard itself Lectures are very long & heavy Tests are hard MC, essay Qs , FIB & proctored. Lab exams are lame as you wont need them unless you'll be a Doctor. smh. Need to be specific on essay Qs he takes out points. Have pop quizzes. The class is doable if you don't take any other classes it would be better.
I'm not rating the course I'm rating the professor, and HE IS AMAZING! The course is very very difficult, there is so much to memorize, and there is no way to make it easy. But, professor makes it entertaining. He asks questions all the time, gives examples.. I enjoy every minute of his lecture and his unique sense of humor.
The worst professor ever. He doesn't care what you have going on. When COVID started we were moved online and he said "just because we are online, it doesn't mean it will be easier. I will make sure to make this as hard as possible on you." And only a few people passed his class. The lectures on zoom were 5 HRS LONG. Tests are impossible to pass.
It's A&P, it's DIFFICULT. He explains it thoroughly, repeating steps and is always willing to meet outside of class. Nothing is a surprise on exams 5. You will put in work, hours, and tears but be left with the most knowledge you can get, preparing you for your next step. Everything is fair game on the exams. Memorize it all. 100% worth it.
Even though the course is very difficult the lectures are very interactive and fun. He spends time to explain, draw, give different examples, and asks questions to make sure you understand the material. Yes, you have to work hard. Focus mostly on his lectures. Rewatch lectures (he posts them on youtube) and take notes. Try to work ahead of time.
He is an amazing teacher and genuinely cares about his students. Lectures are very long, not a lot of homework, no extra credit, but the test are difficult, especially his essay question portion, there are usually 6-8 essay questions and to get the points it has to be very specific. other than the tests, he is very interactive teacher and loves A&P
He knows the material is hard and tries to make break it down well. If you have questions, ask! I feel cheated because the class was online and he was entertaining over zoom which was refreshing for such a hard class. His tests are hard if you dont know the material, you must study to get an A & you must be very detailed on short answer questions.
Probably one of the best professors I've ever had. As long as you stay on top of the work assigned, his class is fairly possible.
The class material is hard, but he makes it class so much fun! He helped me to be successful in this class. I learned a lot in this class, the lab exams were the hardest for me since we have to identified every muscle and bone. If you really want to learn, take him!
This was the best professor i've ever had in my life!! His summer class was very hard, but he taught in a way that made it possible to pass with a good grade! If you put in the time for this class you will pass. He will always answer questions in class or over email. I miss his class and would take it over and over again !
I don't usually leave reviews for professors but Professor Slutsky is such an outstanding professor that I have to. He wants you to succeed and understand the material. He makes it so that you can understand the hardest concepts in the most simple terms. Tests contain a lot of essay questions, but if you study you will do just fine. TAKE HIM!
Dr. Slutsky is a great professor. He is organized and explains what is expected. Lots of long lectures, but explains everything well and goes into great detail. Exams can be quite difficult, but are passable. Very approachable for any questions. I regret not taking him for 431.
I had Professor Slusky doing my pre-requisites for nursing school and I can confidently say this was the best class I have ever taken because of him. I am about to graduate nursing school and still have what he taught me memorized bc of how well he taught. My favorite professor ever! Take him!
He's a chill guy and is a nice, helpful person. The only issue is his test is extremely hard and a lot of students have complained to him but he refuses to change it. Your best bet is to study as much as possible. And maybe wish for a lot of luck as well because there's sometimes stuff in there that we haven't even study yet... 2 out of 30 got A's.
Tips Professor has a YouTube channel where he posts previous lectures When he says "potential essay question"write the question down. The physio process that he spends longest talking about is the one that will be on the exam. After every lecture make your flashcards. For the lab, he will show lots of pictures/microscope slides.Take videos Pray
Rlly tough grader. U need to memorize every detail he says for the essay questions. Do not write by hand. U will not catch up. Lab & Lecture exams are same day so study lots 1-2 weeks before. He truly prepares u for the work that u will get into in other science classes by making it hard. He is very caring and will answer any questions. Create GCs!
I recommend Dr. Slutsky to anyone looking to take BIOL 430 or BIOL 431. I took his class for both semesters of anatomy and physio because Dr. Slutsky is well organized and explains concepts clearly during lecture. Attending class is important because what is covered in the lecture will be covered on the test, and tests are all structured the same.
Professor Daniel is a hilarious, kind father who loves his kids. He mentioned them a lot haha. His class is very exam heavy however, but as long as you keep attending his office hours and asking him questions and studying 35 hours/ week, you can succeed! His class is very difficult compared to other professors but he is only preparing you afterall!
Professor Slutsky is an amazing professor who sincerely cares about all of his students and takes the time to ensure they understand the material. He is incredibly knowledgeable in the subject and clearly enjoys teaching. The class is very challenging, but not impossible. Commit to studying, GO TO CLASS, ask questions and you'll be fine!!
Cumulative exam. Don't take this class with microbio if you want a life. Watch his lectures before and after class. It is a full time job studying. Making quizlets to study for terms/histology list. In his lectures, he mentions what questions will be on the exam. You can to be VERY specific with your essay answers. Go to open lab for extra credit.
Professor Slutsky's Bio 431 is very difficult. His 3-5 hour lectures lack resources, and exams are challenging with no extra credit. The lab classroom is uncomfortable, and his YouTube lectures contain errors. Despite his knowledge, getting an A is nearly impossible. I studied extensively and only got a 75% yet I got an A with a different teacher.
The only way to get an A in his class is by knowing & comprehending the material. Watch his lectures on youtube before class, ask a lot of questions (he's good at explaining), make flashcards, email him for help, and DO HIS EXTRA CREDIT. He offers a lot. He gives you everything you need to succeed, you just have to put in a lot of time and effort.
Professor slutsky is nice and funny but he's extremely lecture and exam heavy. Doesn't provide study guide for exams and exams are extremely hard. If you love your life then avoid this professor.
He's very strict and his exams are extremely hard. He offers little to no help/resources for his exams. Lectures are extremely long. save your time and take this class with a different professor.
Amazing professor. has lectures from previous semesters on youtube for you to stay ahead/on track. Exams are 20-30 multiple choice, ~4 fill in the blank, and 6-9 essay questions. He tells you exactly what info he wants to see on those open ended essay questions. Don't bother reading the book, only info from lectures is on exams.
Exams based on lecture, almost 4 hours of straight lecture every class (only had 3 wet labs) txtbook useless. answers emails with vague response, NO study guides for exam, he expects you to memorize everything. exams are weighed 100% of your grade vague essay q's on exam but wants a ton of specific detail. lab & lec exams on same day. waste of time
Lot of hw but dont bother since exams are 100% of the grade, lab/lec exams on same day, you have 50 sec for each slide for the lab exam part, slides are blurry with an arrow pointing to a vague location. positive reviews are just brown nosers. No feed back on exams unless you go to office hours, & even then it was rushed. take a different teacher
Professor Slusky runs a challenging but rewarding class. Attend every lecture, utilize the free textbook, and make flashcards. For exam prep, unstuck ai and practice questions helped me stay on top of the material. A tough grader, but worth it.
Expect to spend 3 hours per day if you want an A. He curves exams. He's hilarious. Text & HW online. Wet and simulated labs. My favorite professor ever! A&P is hard on its own due to lots of material. Uses Pearson which has practice tests and practice lab. Those who didn't pass, didn't put in the work.
exams are 100% of grade, and the HW makes you jump around the textbook instead of in linear fashion. his lecture slides on canvas are mostly blank & he fills them in during class- he flips thru so quick you dont have time to write everything, he docks major points for the essay questions if you even forget a small detail, he expects doctor lvl work
This professor is really good and knows how to teach so the students can take the info in, 5 exams 1 cumulative final, record and print out the slides, you will need to memorize them, he wants you to know the small details. This class is overall hard but Professor Slutsky is always willing to help, and he is caring, and answers emails ask questions
He's a good professor, Grades are 100% lecture and lab exams based. Makes you memorize so many terms, only for half of them to be on the actual exam. Office hours are available for extra credit. Study, study, study, and I believed you could succeed.' I wouldn't take him personally so I will be finding another professor lol
The best prof to have for bio! Any science course, especially over the summer, is hard. Prof. Slutsky made all topics easy to understand and explicitly tells you what exactly will be on exams, nothing was ever a surprise. There were no quizzes and no excessive amounts of homework. Easy guy to talk to about anything course related or not. No regrets
Has the most difficult exams but curved. u rlly have to make an effort & put in a lot of time to pass but this is all info u should want to know anyway. he provides everything you need to pass as long as you use it. attendance is only mandatory for actual lab days and presentations but highly encourage you to go everyday.
He's an amazing professor and lectures very well. Lecture and lab exams are very very hard. Lecture exams are essay questions with a lot of attention to detail. Lab exams are very hard spelling counts and has a lot of terms and histology. You definitely do learn a lot but you have to take the time to study extensively to receive an A in the course.
First off he has a history of writing his own good reviews on here so don't fall for them because you will hate your life taking his class. he lectures for 4 hrs straight twice a week. it's absolutely ridiculous. he has so many tests and gives absolutely nothing to prepare for it. exams are extremely hard and he's a tough grader
