GREAT PROFESSOR, VERY HELPFUL AND FAIR. YOUNG GUY WHO LIKES TO REALLY TEACH AND SHARE HIS PASSION FOR SCIENCE WITH OTHERS. HE LIKES PEOPLE TO ASK QUESTIONS, IT SHOWS THAT YOU REALLY CARE AND USUALLY THE "SMARTEST" OR BEST STUDENTS ASK FOR THE MOST HELP.
he has a good heart, and obviously cares about his students&chemistry. I have had first timers before and none had their stuff together like he does. He is very hard, but also very helpfull, if you just want an A in chem on your transcript then dont take him, HOWEVER if you are moving up in chem then he will help you alot in the future!
Professor Stewart is a hard teacher. He uses a powerpoint to lecture and sometimes goes too fast. His notes & study guides are usually 30 pages long to print. He is a nice guy, but for those of us who are new to Chemisry he goes to fast and does not expalin things thoroughly.
Professor Stewart is a very fun, helpful, and kind teacher. I really enjoyed his class. It's obvious if you wanna get good grades in any of your studies you have to study hard. However, he always has extra points to boost up your grade. Pay attension to his lectures. I recommend him.
Dan has been a great teacher. The class has been really challenging but that is because of how hard the material is. He has been really helpful when I've approached him. Also, he was totally cool and understanding to me when I was having some real troubles in my life and was having hard time keeping up. I recommend him, but be prepared to study!
Prof Stewart is a great teacher! If you're nervous about chem take him he'll work with you. He truly cares about his student and wants them to succeed. Tests can be a little scary but do the ch. probs & the probs posted online & you'll do fine. MOST IMPORTANTLY if you get stuck visit him during his office hours. He'll help you & make you like chem.
Enthusiastic young teacher. Started strong with emails and web postings, even provided scantron sheets. Slacked a little in second half, quit providing scantrons. Maintained availability throughout semester. Posted powerpoints after the lecture (would have been nice before lecture). Posted tons of practice problems. No excuses for not passing.
Mr. Stewart will get you EXCITED about chemistry. He'll do everything in his power to explain the material. He integrates the labs, multiple choice practices, lectures, quizzes and humorous analogies to completely prepare students to handle his exams and then some. You will be thought provokingly inspired. This is what learning is all about.
Professor Stewart is a great professor. I enjoyed taking his class and he is very helpful. He made me like chemsitry and he made is easy for me. Highly recommend this professor if anyone is going to take chemistry.
Dan is really helpful and clear in teaching. He made the class fun and allowed many extra-credit opportunities. I'll definitely take his higher chemistry course next semester. :)
great teacher. he is very fair. he will be more than happy to help you. he really cares. he has a god sense of humor too. lectures were not boring. he does cool experiments in class. definitely recommend him.
Professor Stewart is a GREAT teacher! I had never taken Chemistry, even in high school. I am horrible in Math too. He guided us along at a good pace, posted lectures, and always was available. He truly loves Chemistry and is a funny guy. It also helps that he is handsome:) I recommend him 100%.
I wasn't happy about the fact that attendance was mandatory, but other than this I really liked the class. Stewart is VERY clear about what he expects you to know for tests. He is very fair too. He goes into a lot of detail which can drag on at times, but some students seemed were interested so whatever. He is a kind person and good sense of humor.
lots of example can clear your mind. class is not that difficult than i expect. working harder then you will have best result on your final.
he is a pretty cool teacher. he was pretty funny. do the practice problems and u will have no problem with the majority of the test. he did sneak a couple suprises on the tests but what teacher doesn't these days. if he says "oh this wont b on the test" write it down.. cause it will be. i would take him again if i had to.
Lots of work but thats expected. strict on lab notebooks, hw is not mandatory to turn in, but is extremely helpful to study for test.gives a practice exam b4 real one, allows a card of notes. he says that he hopes students wont be afraid to ask questions, but he does make u feel like u shouldnt have asked at times. overall a very nice, easy teacher
Dr. Stewart a great guy with nice mind. This my 3rd time taking chem and 1st time I did enjoyed it. You take chem its hard anyway but you take from Stewart at least you have some fun! Funny man. I actually learn something!!! He seem pretty fair guy, grade is tough in this class. I don't like all the lab though. Go office hours cuz hes helps alots!
Dr. Stewart is awesome I wish he was teaching 401. Great sense of humor and encourages you to ask questions. Only problem was with the book and lab manual but not his fault and he will help you out so stop by his office or send an email. Some say he is tough but if you put in the time and effort it is an easy A or B at least. Very fair with grading
Prof. Stewart is a good person, understanding. Availalbe during office hours to help. Allows to used notecard on exam, gives practice exams. AWESOME grading system. Will diffinetly need the textbook, lecutres are not enough.
At first I didn't know he was a prof here, i thought he was a student! LOL. He's pretty casual and comfy and makes chem inviting. Sweet guy and warm. Puts effort into keeping class fun. Talks a lot about real life. You won't regret taking him. Tough class, but you will get the grade you deserve. Allows notecard on test. Only bad thing= lab reports
Prof. Stewart is an AWESOME GUY! He is cool, understanding, funny, etc. TAKE HIM. YOU WONT REGRET IT. he tries to make CHEM as SIMPLE as possible. He's tries all types of learning styles into his teaching.Theres always Lab reports everyweek and NOTECARD on TEST. Tests are fair and grading somewhat fair(you can kinda tell he favors)but overall Great
He is wonderful! Great teaching style & grading style. Always wants to help his students. I was planning my wedding when I was taking his course so I had to miss 1 week for my honeymoon. He helped me step by step on what I was missing and what I needed to make up. I wish he was teaching 401!!!
His labs were usually not that long but the information always came out confusing. I asked for help on a topic and he gave me a football analogy which i guess should have cleared everything up, but i had to just try to figure it out myself. he seems like a pretty nice guy, but his teaching methods are weird and don't make sense sometimes
Lab reports were arduous, tests were tough, no homework. Spent a LOT of time in office hrs, he helped a lot. Last posts were probably from students who failed. If you put effort into the class he puts effort into you! You won't regret taking chem from Dr. Stewart, he makes class interesting and fun, and uses a lot of daily life in his lectures.
He is a great teacher that cares about his students and their understanding of the material. No homework is turned in, but suggested problems are recommended. Many quizzes were take home and helped with exam prep. His review sessions were great and a lot could be taken from them if you came prepared. I wanted an A, I put the time in and got one.
Nice guy, keeps it fun and interesting. Lectures and labs were confusing when I was unprepared. He was helpful to me when I came to his office and showed him how hard I was working, but was a bit cold-shouldered when he knew I wasn't putting in the effort. He plays favorites (maybe I was one?), but mostly to those who obviously are working hard.
You will not regret taking Stewart. The only thing is labs take a lot of time to write, and he took a while to get them graded. Tests graded quick, grades fair (curved). You should be able to get at least a "B" if you work hard. Gives extra credit. Helps his students a lot and is available a lot outside of class. I wish he teaches 401!
PROS: notecards on tests, good lectures, cool demos, you know EXACTLY how you can get a good grade. CONS: long lab reports, 65% exam avgs, must check email frequently, goes off-topic answering questions from his favorites. PROS strongly outweight CONS. Grades tougher on tests and quizzes, easier on labs than last 400 teacher. Work hard = good grade
A great teacher!! Less work than other teachers like Wiessbart, but you leave better prepared for Chem 401. Tests are very difficult if you don't do the homework, which isnt turned in. Slackers will not do well in this class, it takes effort to pass any Chem above 300. If you think he's hard change your major. All sciences get much more difficult.
great teacher! easy to understand and always eager to help. Helpful hints to pass: do hw duhh, come to all the lectures and pretest sessions, read ahead and PAY ATTENTION...oh ya he grades on a curve!!!
AMAZING teacher! Learned a ton from his class. He clarified a lot of things that chemistry 310 didnt. Very helpful, always notices your hard work even though he doesnt show it. He cares for students' understanding. Has plenty of beacon tutors for almost anyones schedule. Very quick with giving tests and quizes back. Wish he thaught chem 401!!!!!!
Professor Stewart by far is the best Chem teacher I ever had. He find ways to help students understand Chem. and gets in touch with students. I'm soo disappointed that he's not teaching Chem 401. I highly reccommend Stewart.
Dr. Stewart is amazing! just do your homework and you will do just fine! even though you don't get a grade for homework, it's the key to pass the class! he love us all
Dan is a super teacher. I liked his way of teaching. He tries to come down to your level. He uses dif ways and dif. examples from life for each concept... Tests are hard, hard worded questions, not enough time to focus even though you have everything on card. The labs were fun, quizes are take-home. The gas shows were awesome!:)I;ll miss it
Prof. Stewart is the best chem teacher! i didnt like chemistry at all before this class. I almost failed chem 400 at scc, so i dropped out and took it with prof stewart and got a B. He is very good at explaining things and tells you what to expect for each exam.
This professor is like the best professor at ARC! He definately puts in a lot of effort to get students' understanding. He is a professor you will not regret for taking. I hated chemistry, but after taking his class it turned around. He cares bout students and enjoys teaching. He grades on a curve quick with grading test take home quizes<3 tis clas
Sign up before all his classes are full. Dan is an excellent instructor who focuses on teaching his students and not tricking them. He explains the subject very clearly and tailors the course to match the learning styles of his students. Choosing an instructor that's on your side is very important for any course but for Chemistry it's critical.
He's an alright teacher. Showed favoritism sometimes. Could have been a little clearer and thorough in some topics.
While chemistry is not an easy subject to learn, this professor really dedicates his time to helping each student succeed. He is easy to talk to and he is an advocate for the student (which is a breath of fresh air). He grades fairly, but his tests are no joke - definitely study hard!!! Take a class from a prof. that loves his subject!
I can definitely recommend Dr. Stewart to you. I figure chem is really hard, liking your teacher makes it more enjoyable. I liked the way he explained things and this made studying more productive because I was able to remember so much from his lectures. Labs are a lot of work, exams are pretty tough, but overall a great class! Thanks!!!
Chem 400 is so much harder than 310. I thought it was going to be easier (it seemed like the same topics) and I barely got a B. A lot of material is covered very quickly. Stewart is a good guy, very approachable, explains things well. Be prepared for a LOT of work. Learned a lot.
Dan is an absolutely AMAZING instructor. He made chemistry fun. I was scared of this class but it became my favorite. He helps us alot, cool demos, music during lab, notecard on exams, good beacon tutors. He teaches in a way you have to actually understand the material to do well on tests (memorizing won't get you by). One of the best at ARC!!! :)
AMAZING professor! If you need to take 400 I DEFINITELY recommend him. He's passionate about what he's teaching and YES this is a tough class and you'll need to make an effort to receive the grade you want but he'll help you through it. Tests were graded on a curve and the final replaces your lowest test score. Hw isn't mandatory but VERY helpful!
I love this proffesor. HE is THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is really helpfull and nice. I recomed him to everyone))
Dr. Stewart has made his class significantly more difficult this year than previous semesters (he said so himself). 2 quizzes per week, formal lab reports, and rigorous exams make his class difficult to keep up with. However, he gives you a LOT of examples, has great beacon tutors, and is a GREAT lecturer who uses real-world examples. NICE GUY TOO!
Great guy - very approachable and he obviously really enjoys chemistry. It's a hard class but he prepares you really well. A lot of work, but ultimately not impossible. He's a fantastic professor :)
Prof Stewart is an easy going and very intelligent chemistry instructor. He wants to give you an A if you are willing to work hard for an A and is a very fair grader. He is always there for his students in and outside of class and provides many resources such as beacon tutors and the exams from the previous semester (very helpful). Great teacher
Prepare to get your a*% kicked. Dr. Stewart is an awesome teacher and will do everything he can to help you. That being said Chem is freaking hard. You are going to neeed to go to becon and study your tail off to do well and even pass. The lab reports will take a good 4-5 hours to write and the test are no joke but you can pass through hard work.
He teaches well and talks sometimes off topic which is fine but don't be foll with the good ratings. He picks his favorites and his graders ruin your grade no matter how much you study.
I was very worried and unprepared for such a rigorous course, not taking chem in 4 years. But he motivated me to try harder. Prepare to study hard for the tests! He is a great teacher and explains things very well. Changed my mind about chemistry(:
Very intelligent professor, he knows the subject. Runs a tough class- be prepared to work very hard for your grade. He prepares you well for future chem courses (if you are attentive and diligent). He is helpful and provides for your success if you put in the effort. Highly recommend if you want to learn chemistry. He made me like chemistry!
Professor Stewart is a very knowledgeable and helpful. The class is not easy, but doable. Working hard and managing time properly is essential. And go to his office hours. He will try to answer any questions regarding the course. Show him that you care about the subject and that you are serious and he will help you to be successful in this course.
He wasn't there much for office hours (door was closed), and if you have a question you will need to go to beacon to get it answered. Not very helpful. With the lack of choices for good teachers for this class, pick him, he allows you to use note cards. Be prepared to eat, sleep, and breathe chemistry.
The quizzes were nothing like the exams. Reports and homework were nothing like the exams as well. The exams were no joke, and his correctors take off a lot of points on the written part of the exams. He wasn't very willing to help, but expects you to get the answers for yourself at beacon tutoring. Very hard class.
Quizzes every week, so set an alarm on to remind yourself. Fairly easy problems. Tests are hard, but he allows a notecard and they're curved. Doing the practice test and problems are helpful. Allow a lotttt of time for lab reports. Overall, he's a really good professor. He cares about the students that try. And he tries to help you pass.
He is such a wonderful and knowledgeable instructor and person. I didn't have any good knowledge about chemistry and especially laboratory. He gave me confident and helped me a lot. He is extremely knowledgeable. However you need to work very hard. No homework but Lab reports, quizzes and exams are enough! This class is not an easy A or B.
fantastic teacher!! works really hard to provide lots of tutoring by students who can bring it to our level. Book is horrible and has inaccurate info and skips steps. Google!
All you really need are the lecture slides he gives you during lecture. Sometimes he doesn't really know how to teach so go to youtube and learn from there and attend the many free beacon tutoring sessions that are provided. Great teacher and lots of interesting stories he tells!
Professor Stewart is a great instructor and a wonderful man. His teaching style is awesome; and he is always ready to answer all plausible questions. The course was highly efficient and very interesting. Spasibo and thank you very much, Professor; you are the best! P.S I can highly recommend to attend Jeff Lane, a beacon tutor. He is terrific man
Professor Stewart is awesome! You will definitley have to work very hard for your grade as this is a very time consuming course with a lot of material covered. Exams are curved and can use a 3X5 notecard. Weekly online quizzes, no assigned book hw but weekly lab reports WILL take a lot of your time. An A is definitly possible! I highly recommend!
Chem 400 is very difficult no matter what. Take Stewart he is funny, helpful, and fair. Be prepared for a LOT of work. Don't get behind. If you don't study or work hard he won't push you but kinda ignores you. When you work hard he is VERY VERY helpful. Helps to go to beacon every week and you get extra credit for it. Book sucks. Use the internet.
I have never liked chemistry and was not looking forward to taking it, but because of Mr.Stewart I was able to understand and actually start to like chemistry. He is a great teacher and very helpful. Attending all the lectures and going to beacon tutoring helped me a lot. He also gives extra credit which is very helpful.
Professor Stewart is the man. He is extremely clear with what he wants from you. Don't get behind! Weekly quizes and lab reports, although it sometimes fluctuates. 4 Tests, cumulative final, and the final will replace your lowest test score. Received an A in the class by hard work and dedication to the material. Go to BEACON! extra credit and helps
This is not an easy class at all, but he makes it as do-able as possible. He will explain things if you go to his office hours, and is a fair grader. I had a 67% and thought I would get a D, but when grades came out I got a C! Just talk to him and go to class and show that you are trying and he will meet you half way. Good teacher.
This class is not easy, but Dr. Stewart is very helpful. Come to the review sessions which help with the exams a lot. Lab reports are lengthy and take some time to finish. Homework is optional. There are online quizzes that are due every Sunday. If you want to learn chemistry, Dr. Stewartmis the teacher for you!
Overall Stewart is a great professor. His tests are difficult even if you study but they are passable. He also has lots of Beacon tutors which helps and gives extra credit that really helps to. Hands down the best chem professor at ARC!
Dan is knowledgeable and approachable. He doesn't assign anything from the textbook, but you'll need it to do well. Lectures (usually posted online)cover most of what is on the exams. Sometimes he gets off-topic if somebody asks a question, but overall doesn't teach anything you don't need to know. Plan to put in a TON of time to do well.
This class was a LOT of work! Between labs, lab reports, tests, studying and quizzes, Chemistry is VERY time consuming. Stewart made class fun, funny and showed how the concepts applied to life. He did demonstrations and was very patient and always so helpful. He allows a note card on tests. He is a wonderful and caring person and teacher.
It's not a hard class if you do the work. Homework is optional but helpful if you didn't understand the concepts in class. Otherwise, just make sure to study your notes, write detailed lab reports, study your lab reports, do the weekly quizzes and you'll be fine. Go to class, he gives extra credit just for showing up sometimes.
Excellent teacher who goes the extra mile for his students in terms of giving them the resources needed to understand the material, glad I took this class with him.
Dr. Stweart was very clear about what he wanted, was always willing to help students in office hours, and sparked interest in subjects I didn't know existed. The exams aren't awful as long as you study. Do the (optional) homework, and you'll be fine.
Professor Stewart is one of the best teachers I've had. He is super helpful and will work with you to make sure you understand the material. He provides a ton of resources for reviewing, like recordings of lectures and copies of past exams. I definitely recommend him!
took him for the summer. super duper chem teacher. i actually enjoyed this class because of him. take him!
Stewart is a great teacher. Lots of resources! Made class fun!
Reaply easy Class I loved it very clear. There is no reason for not getting 95%+ on everything except for the main tests quizzes are online and you get many tries to complete them. Only downside is that quizzes can be long or short. Really funny and likes to keep it interesting with lots of cool experements
I took this class over the summer and he made it super do-able. He gave us so many resources which proves how much he wants his students to succeed. I had never taken chem before but I really enjoyed his class!
He's the easiest of all the Chem 400 professors. He lets you have a cheat sheet on the test and doesn't assign homework. Which sounds nice, but it screws you over once you get to labor intensive Chem 401 and Ochem.
Gives out lots of notes and lecture videos online. Even though the homework is optional (not graded) if you do it you'll recieve better exam scores. Lots of chances for extra credit with beacon. Study guides like exam. Highly recommended for his enthusiasm and fairness.
I don't understand this teacher. He does offer a lot of beacon tutoring and practice for exams, but he himself is definitely not approachable. He has too many formal lab reports due pretty much every week along with an online quiz every weekend. This class is very, very time consuming and he goes really fast on concepts. Do not recommend.
Nice guy. If you want an easy A, take professor Maddox, not Stewart. Stewart seems to be helpful, but moves very fast and is hard to understand. Also, tests are extremely difficult compared to Maddox's tests. Sometimes expects students to attend study groups OUTSIDE OF CLASS TIME. Definitely not the easiest Chem teacher. Take Maddox or even Payne.
Chem is hard for me, Professor Stewart makes a lot of effort to help get you through it. He records his lectures so you can watch them again if you need to. He really does want you to succeed and provides many tutors and additional study material. I would take him again if I was taking anymore chemistry.
Professor Stewart was a great teacher, he is a fair grader and tests off of his lectures mostly. He also gives extra credit for beacon. He comes off kind of rude at first but he definitely means well. I would definitely take his class again.
I took Dr. Stewart for Chem 400 (or Chem 1A as they call it at university level.) Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and takes the time to explain things clearly and thoroughly. He is very fair and a great teacher overall. Would highly recommend him.
He never gives enough time on tests. People are always rushing and everyone I talk to and myself are never able to finish the tests in time. It's not fair because we study and are prepared for all the material but he just never gives us the time to show what we can do. It is very frustrating when you study all weekend then bomb the tests. Not cool
He do not give enough of time for testes and give a lot of quizzes and in the exams you will find things he never talks about in the lecture.
Great professor. Very helpful and easygoing. Goes through the material again and again till students get it. Each chapter has three exams: 20 online questions with 3 attempts, collaborative in class also 20 quest, and chapter exam , which most difficult and has 25 questions. The labs are interesting . Be prepared in advance and you'll be OK.
Stewart was amazing to listen to. He is extremely knowledgeable and smart. Homework is "optional", but if you want a good grade, DO IT. Get the Selected Solutions Manual he recommends. Test questions from these 2 come up often & they're good practice. It wasn't an easy class but I really enjoyed him as the prof. Would recommend if you're motivated.
Chen is not an easy class but he makes it enjoyable. Attendance is required to pass the class, no extra credit. Drops lowest collab exam & test score. Quiz on Sun, Test on Tues, Collab exam on Thurs (this is what we did every week) He records lectures. He allows make up labs if u miss any. I would highly recommend him! U HAVE TO WORK FOR YOUR GRADE
Chem is not an easy class but he makes it enjoyable.
I am the worst at chemistry, it is a subject that i never could get a grip on! but This professor made it so easy to learn and understand each concept. He was simply the best professor. I got a B+ in the class, i did miss a few quizzes so i know i could have gotten an A. This is a person that sucks at chem!! TAKE HIM. He is helpful!!
I was so nervous to take chem everyone told me it was going to be so difficult. i am so happy that i had P. Stewart! he records all his lectures and emails back the same day. He doesn't assign homework but the practice problems he recommends do them! he's one of those professors that wants you to pass he's really awesome, definitely recommend him !
Great teacher! I haven't taken Chemistry in almost 20 years and of course I had a hard time at first but if you follow his lectures (HE RECORDS)he is very thorough and precise about what important and what will be on the test. If you study what you've missed on the collaborative exams you'll be sure to ace the test.
Never took chem before but he made it enjoyable. He has a format: quiz due on sunday, chapter exam and then collab test during the week. It is a lot of work but his lectures go hand in hand with everything you do. Labs, for me, were the best part! Pay attention in class and you should be fine. Read ahead if you are falling behind.
I didn't think I'd like this class because we have to do 3 tests a week, group quiz, regular test, and an online test, but I actually really liked it. 1 test from each group is dropped. I still remember a lot of what I learned. He can seem unapproachable but he wants his students to succeed, but he won't take any crap. Tough class, be ready to work
Stewart is a great Professor! There is a test almost every class but it is actually very helpful because it makes sure you are studying every week. I learned so much from this class. Best advice would be to read the book, pay attention to lectures, and ask for help if you are having trouble with any problems.
Good professor and I think he loves what he does but he can seem very rude at times. Doesn't always test on what he lectures on but that's why you have to read. Very strict about tests and labs. 3 mandatory test a week. He's a tough professor but if you do the work and go to tutoring you will be fine!
Great professor! He loves what he does. The inclass quiz is harder than the chapter tests. Strict about tests and labs. Either quiz or test each day so you can't miss class. He's a tough professor but if you do the work you will be fine! Also if you follow that labs step by step there should be no reason why you can't get an A+ on your lab work
He is, by far, one of the best science teachers I have had. I like that he had 3 different tests. One was an online quiz due on Sundays, the chapter exam with no notes, and a collaborative exam of the new chapter. This kept me on my toes and I never slacked off. Straight forward with what he expects and doesn't give any curve balls.
One of the best professors I've had. Comprehensive recorded lectures which you have the option to download online) and easy lab. Just beware of quizzes every Sunday, though you can take each quiz up to three times. Test every other lecture and Collab tests on the lectures that don't have real tests. Just show up every day and you'll have fun.
from CRC so the commute/new school was slightly scary at first. This class is TOUGH, you have to apply yourself to actually learn & remember material for the Final. Online quizzes due Sunday 11pm, weekly chapter & collaborative (where you can use notes/eachother) exams & LAB time. Overall, he's very nerdy, tells dad jokes, & is very kind/helpful!
Professor Stewart was amazing! He would post the lecture notes online that you can print out and while he went over notes in class, he would record himself talking and writing on the ELMO and post online. He gave a test Wednesday in class, open notes/working with others, Sunday online and in class on Monday.
Great professor, he records all of his lectures and the notes are extremely thorough. The labs are once a week and aren't that difficult. He gives exams twice a week, but one of those is an open note. I personally didn't know chem until I took his class, highly recommend!
I am extremely passionate about chemistry/physics. Respectfully, he is the most boring teacher I have ever had.
Best chem prof I ever had. I was afraid to take chem at first because I nearly failed it in hs but in his class I got a solid A. Day 1- exam, Day 2- in class quiz (open book etc), online quizzes. He helps with labs, can't not get full credit. Do a few practice questions from online before exams and you'll be 100%. Wish he taught chem 400. TAKE HIM!
I was really nervous to take chem but this professor does everything in his power to make this class simple for you, records lectures, has note packets to print out for each lecture, lots of quizzes but they're short and make you learn the material much easier than if he were to give one quiz every other week. Would highly recommend him!!!
Nice guy but can come off as rude at times and def a little boring. He tells you exactly what to expect from you the first time you meet him. This is the hardest class I have ever taken but he made it worth it. Chapter exams once a week as well as collabs but drops the lowest scores at the end of the semester, records lectures for you.
(Im an A student) I wish every teacher took his teaching style and adopted it. It is intense, and takes time, but this is chem, its a heavy material no matter which way you slice it. There is a solo quiz monday, COLLAB quiz wed, and online quiz Sunday. Its a lot.. but you actually learn. He videos his lectures so you can always rewatch. take him!
Pro. Daniel Stewart is one of the best professors at ARC. He is so supportive and passionate about Chemistry. He is very organized and punctual. I really really enjoyed his class. I recommend Prof Daniel Stewart if you wanna understand Chemistry from its root. You need to work hard if you wanna get A in this class.
Prof. Stewart is fair grader. We all know that Chemistry is hard subject. So dont skip, come to class and be attentive. What I like the most, Prof. Stewart takes videos on his lectures. English is my second language, so the videos are very helpful for me.
He is the best chem professor ever, a very responsible and respectful professor. Chem is hard but he is trying his best to teach you. Take him if you want to learn and pass chem 305
Every week consists of a chapter exam, collaborative exam, and a Sunday online quiz. This seems like a lot at first, but having a lot of tests means that you could get a few low scores and it won't destroy your grade. Stewart is a nice guy and super helpful. Tutoring is also offered if you're struggling with a certain subject.
AWSOME! THANK YOU PROFESSOR STEWART
If you want a Chem class that shows you how to use the tools that have already been provided by previous Chem generations this is the class. He doesn't make you memorize things that are unnecessary but he makes you learn how to use the tools provided correctly so you can use what is needed in your field.
I absolutely loved this class. Professor Stewart is amazing and is so passionate about chemistry that you can't help but become passionate yourself. His lectures are informational and set you up perfectly for the labs and quizzes.
He might be good of a professor but be prepared for him to be ridiculously rude at times where you might not understand or have a misconception about anything. He will especially be ride to the ones for whos chemistry is not their subject but are trying their hardest. Missing something incase of a emergency will eeven throw him off of your list..
I was so nervous coming into this chemistry course however, this professor is THE BEST! He gave such good feedback after every quiz, collaboration, and exam. He was always available in his office hours and the tutors were amazing. He dropped the midterm and a chapter exam. Show up to class and you are guaranteed to pass with his Amazing lectures
He was the best professor I ever took. I was so nervous taking this class but it was a breeze. I am not good at chem at ALL but I was able to finish the class with a 99.2 % because his exams were not a surprise. Everything that he taught was on his exams and as long as you study, you'll be fine. Highly recommend taking this professor. No regrets.
Professor Stewart makes Chemistry understandable and fun. He works with you, provides a beacon tutor, uses Canvas and records his lectures, and provides study materials for his students. He genuinely wants to see his students succeed. If you show up to class ready to learn, and put the time in to study, you will do well in his class.
I loved this class! Professor Stewart really cares and gives students plenty of opportunities. 1 thing is dropped in every category. Exams every class, but since theres so many it keeps you from falling behind and helps maintain a high score. No surprises, you know exactly what to expect.. Thank you Professor Stewart!
Have you ever felt sad to finish a class? That was my feeling when I done with Mr. Steawart's class. Awesome is not enough to describe this amazing professor. Despite I'm a non English speaker, finished my high school long time ago, so I have already forgotten what H2O is :) I learned a lot in his class. Take him you won't regret it!
Pros: Explain lecture SUPER well with many examples. He record his lecture, its so helpful. If you ask him for some practice problems he will post some up. Cons:can be rude. not very approachable. There are trick questions on test & quiz. Overall:weekly quiz due Sunday,Chapter test & group test every week. Lecture are usually one chapter per week
College Professor that doesn't put up with your nonsense; either be there TO learn or skip this class because you're expected know the information; he loves Chemistry and it shows. Three tests a week, lots of reading and memorizing of the subject. NOT an easy class. Want a head start? Read and memorize the back of the required book, both sides.
Best professor you can take for chem 305. Gives a lot of quizes (group, online) and it really prepares you for the exams. It was really good for me because I don't like to study much and the quizes were great review. He also records his lectures so you can find them on canvas. Tests are all multiple choice
By far the best chem professor I've had so far. Records his lectures and puts them online. Explains concepts really well. Many tests and quizzes, but it's what prepares you for exams and his way of teaching WORKS. 10/10 would recommend!
Professor Stewart was absolutely awesome. This was my second time taking chemistry and he really made it easy to understand the basics of chemistry and pass the class. Dont miss the quizzes or the labs and youll easily pass. And on Wednesdays he would try to do a fun demo to show how cool chemistry is. I really enjoyed his class.
Online quizzes help for In class quizzes. Records his lectures. Don't miss lab, it makes a big part of your grade. Quizzes are easy. Lets you have an index card for midterms and finals. Fair grader. Good professor.
I'd heard that chemistry is among the most difficult college courses but Dr. Stewart is an excellent professor. The class is quiz heavy but he provides ample resources and all it takes to do well is an investment of time. Be prepared to truly learn and apply the concepts. Highly recommend Dr. Stewart if you are seeking a solid chem foundation.
Such an awesome professor. I took his chem class back in 2016 when I was going through a lot in my personal life. He took the time to make sure I was getting the information that I needed. Its 2019 and Im in my second chem class and regretting that I lost all of my notes. KEEP THEM! Enjoy this class, he makes it great!
I heard many great things about Professor Stewart prior to taking his class, he's truly amazing. He's a great teacher and an amazing person. He's passionate about chemistry( a tough class) and makes it fun. He wants students to be successful. Don't understand, ASK! If there were more teachers like him there would be more successful students!
The professor was amazing! He made everything to make it as easier as possible. Lecture videos online,3 midterms+study-guides and it was very helpful to pass the midterm with a good score, online chapter exam every week based on the lecture videos, no surprises!GOD BLESS HIM he was willing to help us to pass the class not to fail:)
I highly recommend Professor Stewart for chemistry! I took this class Spring of 2020 and had to transition to online half the semester due to the COVID stay-at-home order. Professor Stewart was still able to teach his class in a way that was easy to handle. He has a big passion for chemistry. Just a great teacher overall!
Chem 305 hybrid and was not disappointed. One of those rare professors who WANTS students to learn and be successful. Do not be scared to take his course online! He has it so organized and clear! Offers weekly exCrd! Do the EC!! Had him durng the COVID transition and he was flawless Do the work and try and you'll definitelty get a great grade!
I am so glad to take Prof. Stewart. Even with us transitioning to do everything online due to Covid-19 he was still very understanding and made sure we learn as much as we can. His videos are so helpful! I thought i wouldn't pass because I am not a fan of chem but watching his videos and going through his notes helped me a lot! Thank you sir!
AMAZING PROFESSOR! gives out extra credit every week, which adds up in your grade. hybrid class. STUDY DAILY, YOU WILL PASS. lots of homework a week, which is not that bad. Video lectures, which helps in many ways. SO MANY RESOURCES. HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS AT ARC.
Professor Stewart is truly a gem in the dreaded Chemistry world. Due to the COVID-19 bulls***, our class was placed fully online and for science classes that can be a NIGHTMARE!! Professor Stewart made it seamless and and worked WITH the class when there were road bumps in the way. LOTS of extra credit which really helps your grades. TAKE HIM!!!
My favorite professor! His lectures are easy to follow, he records them so you can watch later. Quizzes were done every lecture class, either by yourself or in groups, and they were easy and helps to boost your grade. Lab was easy to follow and he genuinely cares about you. I wish I could have him for all of my classes!! I got a 99% in the class
I don't even know where to start! 5 star is not enough for him. Dr Stewart is amazing. His class was so fun. I'm an ESL student and his lectures are very clear. He is caring, respectful, kind, and educated. He is always available and I always received immediate response to my emails. He wants you to learn. Take him and you won't regret it.
He was a cool guy and cared about you and your grade. He cared if you understood the material or not and would offer lots of help and extra credit every week!
Professor Stewart is a great instructor. His lectures are comprehensive, clear and concise. He offers lots of extra credits that really help your grade. lots of homework and lab assignments that you will enjoy doing them.
If you didnt do well in his class its because you didnt try. I had a chem teacher before him and she was absolutely awful! I passed his class with an A+. Yes you have to do the work. I studied for about 15 hours per week. You dont have to be a math genius, just put the effort in. He knows how to teach this topic very well. Just do your part.
Excellent professor! Dr. Stewarts lectures were very simple to follow and added to the learning experience. Extra credit available every week. All the materials needed for quizzes and exams are covered in lectures and labs. Quizzes and exams were open notes. Pretty easy A.
IF U DONT HAVE A PRINTER,DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. U WILL BE PRINTING AT LEAST 30 PAGES PER WEEK. if ur a pre-nursing student & already have so much hw including work at the hospital, DONT take this class. Way too much homework, lectures too long, etc. MY phone didnt send in hw correctly on canvas even tho i sent it on time twice, he gave me an F.
Take this professor for CHEM305! Provides great lectures! You will have labs, weekly assignments, EXTRA CREDIT, lecture notes, chapter quizzes, 3 midterms, & a final! He is pretty strict, but if you put in the effort, you will pass! Extra credit every week. Only used the textbook for extra credit because his lectures cover everything. Easy to pass!
I saw his ratings and decided to take his class online. That was probably my biggest regret yet. He has no sympathy towards his students. He failed all of my exams accusing me of cheating when all of the work that I wrote down was in his lectures. Because of this my GPA went completely down. Literally the most unprofessional teacher ever.
Beware of the amount of information you will be printing. Literally the most useless thing ever. He makes you print every lecture and assignment then write it by hand then scan it into a PDF. The amount of effort you would have to put into this class is so ridiculous and on top of that he fails you.
HORRIBLE! I DO NOT RECCOMEND! I don't know whether he was a good professor before and then suddenly changed.. He never responds to my emails or messages on canvas. His lectures are never clear. The extra credit are HEAVY with little points. MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS FAILED THE FIRST MIDTERM! THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING.Go based on recent feedback
Stewart cares. You can pass this class if you put in. Midterms pretty similar to the practice tests and are open notes! I've been trying to finish up my certificate for years now, and this is the first time I'm actually making progress in a chem course. It's working for me, so, if you're thinking about taking this class, I would highly recommend.
I'm about to pass w/ an A for my FIRST chem class ever! Every wk there's a ch. exam & lecture videos we write notes for then upload via Canvas. He adds E.C. opportunities each wk which are problems out of the txtbk. Attendance is mando as well as completing ALL assignments & in person labs! There's 3 midterm exams and one final- everyone MUST take.
Daniel Stewart is a great professor. I had him for CHEM 305 this past semester. The midterms we had in person were open noted and were everything we were learning from the weeks before. You just have to study and put in time and you can easily pass with an A or B. He provides extra credit. The labs were fun and I enjoyed going to class every week.
One of my favorite professors. So caring, funny, and so passionate about what he teaches. You can tell he is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. He always made sure everyone understands everything. Super helpful. Class was very interesting and I always enjoyed it. Defiantly recommend.
Professor Stewart is one of the best teacher I had in my all college journey. He's trying hard with the students to pass the class. Every is extra credit, doesn't provide that much work, all you need to take a notes from his lecture and submit your notes every week. I LOVED his class, one of my favorite teacher I have ever had.
Professor Stewart doesn't fly by lectures and takes the time to explain what you need to be doing. Ask questions when you're confused, he gets back to inboxes fairly quickly. You have to be there in class for the labs and on time.
Honestly, this professor is really good. He can be a little weird sometimes, but his class is super simple. The actual content can be tough, but if you read his lectures and do your work/hw, then you will get an A. There is lots of extra credit and his study guides are exactly like his exams!
Professor Stewart is by far the best teacher I have had in college. The weekly assignments consisted of notes and a test. His labs were amusing and he was always willing to help if you had any questions it felt like a very safe environment to learn. If you actually take the time to learn the course material it will be an easy A.
10/10! I have the difficulty level a 2, because some material you need to practice to retain. Did the extra credit almost every week, ended class with 103%. Quick to respond on canvas, and gives great examples during lab to help you work through stoichiometry. I was nervous for this course, but am so glad I took it! Easy A if you put in the work.
I have retaken Chem 305 3 times because the teachers were awful. Prof. Stewart change chem for me. He wants you to pass and provides EVERYTHING you need to succeed. There is a lot of information so be prepared to study but I would take him again! Offers extra credit and really works with you if you miss a lab or an assignment.10/10 would recommend.
Prof. Stewart is an amazing professor, if you had chemistry in H.S. this will be a easy class. Even though I didn't have that background prof. Stewart made it easy for me to understand and grasp the material. There are 4 exams, each week you have lecture notes and a quiz. He responds to emails quickly, he wants us to all succeed. Take his class.
Prof. Stewart makes an otherwise tough subject easy to grasp. Attend class, do the work, and you'll get an A. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for understanding concepts and nailing the exams.
The BEST professor. He really cares about his students and the material he is teaching. For hybrid chem 305 had lecture notes to complete during the week. About 10 pages in length but you watch his posted YouTube videos so you just have to follow along. Meet 1x in person to do labs and in person midterms. Midterms are hard but doable if you study.
Professor Stewart has been my favorite professor so far! He gives you the opportunity to earn extra credit each week. He states everything in class clearly and his online lectures were straight to the point and detailed. He is super nice, funny, and he cares for every student! He has office hours if you need any help and easy to get ahold of.
The best professor! Easy online class with short, clear lectures. Labs take ~1 hour. Submit notes, have one Quiz every week 2 attempts + extra credit. Exams are simple (8-12 Qs, open notes) with practice tests. No stress—just success!
All chem classes are HARD. Stewart is a great/personable guy. He sets clear instructions on what needs to be done in order to pass his class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, it will help bump your grade up a letter grade. Do NOT freak yourself out, just keep pushing forward. Ask questions if you have any, he doesn't mind. 3 midterms. 1 final. Work every lab!
Chemistry is HARD, Professor Stewart made it much easier to grasp. There's a lab session every week and instructions are very clear. He gives out extra credit work every week. DO IT. It's a great way to boost your grade. There are 3 midterms and a final. He made chemistry fun and I genuinely looked forward to his class. Would definitely take again!
During the 2 hours I had him in person weekly he was an amazing professor. If I had any questions at all he was more than happy to answer them and never made you feel less for asking any question. His midterms were rough (100% open textbook, note, and material)
Take this professor if you can! He offers weekly extra credit and extra credit on most of the 3 midterms. Lecture videos are clear, and he provides note packets. The textbook isn't required, only for extra credit. Tests and midterms are open-notes.I finished with 110%, so if you do the work, it's very hard to fail.
