He wants to be helpful, but he's EXTREMELY shy. He's obviously new to teaching and very uncomfortable being in front of the room. His focus in class is never on teaching or explaining but rather on getting through the lecture as quickly as possible so that he can breathe again. In other words, be ready to teach the material to yourself.

he is very shy. He sweats a lot he is somewhat helful during office hours but not very helpful in lecture. Prepare to teach yourself. I am not a math person myself but I am doing good in his class. He posts practice exams that look alost exactlty the same as the exam. You can pretty much just show up for the midterms and final and pass the class

I am not a math person but I passed this class due to a lot of time and hard work. Daniel seems to be new to teaching and is generally too quiet in lecture. He is very helpful in his office though. He gives out practice exams that are heaven sent. Once he gives out this practice exam, study it! Do not take Brent Edmunds for a TA, he is the devil!

Well to begin, Swenson is definitely an interesting man. Although awkward, he did a fairly good job at teaching the class. At times he was very abstract though, which left a lot of work on the TA's. Remember to ALWAYS attend discussions- if you have a good TA, everything will be easily explained. Also, he needs to be a little more lenient.

He's great for explaining problems one-on-one and during office hours, but his lectures only go over examples already in the book, which isn't helpful at all. Mr. Swenson is a very helpful teacher. He is willing to explain and explain until you understand the topic. I also really like how he does ALL the work on the board instead of just skipping a few steps and expecting us to know what he did. I know some professors who do that, its really hard to learn that way.

Class seems to go at a slow pace, but as soon as he does an example, he goes so fast. He writes the process down so fast that while we are still writing he is explaining. It's hard to listen to other numbers while writing different numbers. The discussions help more than lecture but he puts a great deal of effort into teaching the class which is A+

So here is my thoughts. If you have taken calc you will be fine. If you don't have an pre-calc experience then lecture is going to get confusing. If you have a buddy with pre-experience sit next to them. My friend got an A on the midterm just cause she listen to my comments during lecture and did homework with me.
