Awesome professor! Really inspires students to want to learn.

his class was easy. it seems so hard in the begining but it turned out easy

He was a very good professor. He was very helpful if you had any questions about anything and when he gave out the work it was very easy to understand and he told what to do and what not to do and it made life easier cause you would feel more confident.

I took a poetry class with him 25 years ago. Back then he was challenging, enlightening, exacting, demanding, always helpful & exciting. Like having an Ivy League prof at MCC tuition. TAKE HIM if you truly want to learn about the nature of thinking within the texts of writers and one's own text.

His E-Prime is retarted, but otherwise .. very good.

Dr. Zimmerman encourages you to learn, to try harder, and to be aware of what's around you. I learned to state my argument and to do so with throrough research and confidence. His E-prime was awesome and made you realize the possibilities of oh so many different levels and meanings a single sentence may reprerest.He's absolutely the best !!!

easiest English teacher I've ever had! Take his class and get an A. He's crazy about politics and that's all he talks about. If you have no interest in politics, watch out. regardless, he's easy.

A hard, but good professor. I took him for an Ind. course, which made it easier. The e-prime is hard to get used to though. I recommend him for students who are pretty good at eng. to begin with.

He is the best. The only problem is that his class is all about political writings, so you need to know your political side and remember to write in eprime. You have to pass the final, which stinks, because if you don't you fail the course. The final is only 10% of your marks, overall I did very well.

i took him for winter session, so he was even harder- but honestly, its so hard to find good teachers these days, so if you'd like to have a "real college" experience, take his class.

He is a nice guy. The class is not very hard. He does this E-Prime thing though, its annoying, you can't use words like is and was in your reports.

Professor ZImmerman is amazing. His brillance is astonishing. He knows a lot about the government and it's many facets which is essential in this day and age. Many students are afraid to take his course because of E-prime. It's difficult however with much practice it becomes easier. He's funny, bright and charasmatic. Thank you. Dr. Zimmerman

Had him for individualized english 122. I recommend taking him if u take individualized english... you come in once every 3 weeks to turn in your paper and he grades it in front of you. If you BS with him while he's grading it, you'll get an easy B or higher! E-prime is a pain in the ass but you get used to it over time.

Dr. Z is articulate and very serious about what he does and expects from his students. He provides his students with the knowledge of advanced levels of academic writing and politics. This I found beneficial because it enabled me to get two for the price of one. If your reading this-trust me I'm stil practicing EPrime even though it's not evident

Dr. Z is a great professor if you want to improve your writing. He is very dedicated and willing to help you whenever you need it. I enjoyed how he incorporated politics with English... and while E-prime can be intimidating, it really does improve your writing and vocabulary. The work you do is well worth it... Dr. Z is highly recomended!!!

I like Dr. Z, especially his Blue Eyes and leather jacket. He's a great instructor. If you want to learn an extrodinary way to write so that you can land a career just from the cover letter of your resume-TAKE THIS MAN! You will not regret it.

I recommend this Dr. Z. He is hard at the beginning but it is for your all good. He is very helpful and he is available to help you with anything. If you really want to learn, enhance your vocabulary and sharp your write skill take him. He is highly recommend.

looks like the person under me really needs some help from Dr Z..lol..anyway Dr.Z is a very smart man...it seemed that he could have a conversation about anything and hold a strong position. Eprime really seems annoying at first..but you will get used to it quickly. His classes can put you to sleep..but other than that he is a great teacher!

I love this man. Yes, E-prime gets to you, but it honestly improves the quality of your writing. Aside from that, Dr. Z is simply brilliant. WARNING: Can cause you to suddenly develop an interest in politics, philosophy, literature, and much more. He may even get you to look forward to class if you enjoy those types of discussions.

Dr. Z is a very smart man who can always make us laugh. At first I thought he was confusing us with a political science class, but so far everything has proved to be relateable to class. He's chairman of the English Department which seems a little threatening but he is really jsut a sweet old man who loves to teach.

Easy A. Take the time to learn e-prime. Write the papers to the best of your ability. He will do the rest. Great teacher.

He was a great professor, very clear and helpful. Although, E-Prime is a bit of a pain in the a**, it gets easier as you continue using it. E-Prime is not required for the final. Other than that the class was great, he's a very funny man and has a great sense of humor. A very rare professor amongst the population of english professors.

He's a really nice man and a brillant guy, but, to me, he tries to indoctrinate his students to the left. His politics are very one sided, but, then again, aren't all professors to the left? Just make sure to do your research on politics instead of listening to him word for word. Other than that, he's a good professor.

Dr Z!! Still doing it after all these years!! I graduated in 1989 and he was my first "real" English professor. Wow what a blast, adn he made me love English enough to get a degree in teaching it,,,and then go into the pharmaceutical industry. Now I am in politics (albeit local)! You young people, get as much as you can from this man, he rocks!

He was a fun professor; always knew how to make us laugh. Class sessions consisted of him talking to us for four hours about all sort of weird english stuff. I mostly tuned it out. Three papers: one on a reading, something about zoos and a research paper. E-Prime is the devil's work.

Prof. Zimmerman is an awesome guy! Fairly easy stuff. The first 2 classes he taught some english writing techniques and the rest of the classes were alot of him reading and discussing poems. He's entertaining and just hand in your work for an easy A.

Fellow lovers of literature would be hard-pressed to not get caught up in the passion he has for it. For students who wish to coast through a class, it's best to avoid him, as his E-Prime challenges you to improve your writing technique. For students who appreciate a teacher who truly loves what they do, I highly recommend him.

showing up for class was a waste of time, i never understood what the point of his lectures were, most of the time what we read wasnt talked about until the end of class. E-PRIME was a pain. He is a very nice and understanding guy, u could make up missed/low grade assignments all the time to improve ur grade. take him, easy class, & assignments.

I really enjoyed this class. Although I was already a decent writer,I felt that I definitely improved by the end of the course. Prof. Z. was really insightful. His shtick is E-prime: writing without use of the verb 'to be'.It's a challenge but forces you to improve your sentence structure. Con: he is a huge lib;in spite of that, a great professor.

He is very against the grain. He does things very differently. He has hi students write everything in E-Prime (writing without the verb to be. He does not assign it to be a jerk but to give his students a VERY useful writing tool and I think if you are in college you should be there to grow and learn and he is a WONDERFUL professor for that.

had him for world lit. though his class is somewhat difficult, he really knows his stuff and you end up having more of an appreciation for the subject after youre done with his class. the hardest part is writting in the e-prime system for essays, but once you get a feel for it, it becomes easy and you really do get better at writting for it.

He is a nice man and is very fair when it comes to grading. However, he constantly shoves his political views down your throat. I felt like this took away from my overall learning experience in World Literature. I showed up to class to analyze the readings, not to listen to him rant about politics.

If you don't mind rambling on during the WHOLE allotted class time (sometimes even longer), he's the professor for you. Very talkative and laughs at his own jokes. Easygoing but would not take him again for World Lit.

Absolutely GREAT professor. I have used this site but never rated a professor, but this time I JUST HAD TO. He's not the easiest of professors, but ABSOLUTELY helpful and willing to compromise with you. I wish I would have taken him in ENG 121. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!

good professor but his assignments are very confusing. Also he talks about out of subject things way too much in class, which personally makes me very uninterested.

He is a very educated and passionate professor. The style in which he requires his students to write in is a challenge, but a worth while one. Some may think he picks on them but his critiques are there to show his students to be better. His class is challenging and though provoking, exactly what I paid for

Dr. Z requires that all papers for his class utilize "E-prime," a form of writing absent the use of any form of "to be" (is, are, was, were, etc.) With practice it made a difference in my writing. In general, he's a down to earth guy who likes to joke around and assigns relevant and interesting writing topics. Definitely worth writing in E-Prime.

Good Proffesor

He doesn't require books so that's great. Writing assignments are pretty difficult because he requires E-prime, but I really think that helped improve my writing skills. He's also a pretty smart and funny dude to talk to. Don't take him for the easy A, Do take him if you like writing and an engaging class.

Amazing professor. Took m him twice. He does require EPRIME but that's not hard at all. Just CTRL F and type whatever word he doesn't want you to us a replace it with another word or change up the sentence. LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM.. VERY EASY

Such a good professor, he's obviously very smart and is very fair in grading. The only thing that I struggled with a bit was his requirement to write in eprime but you get used to it after a while

He is very cool teacher. He loves to talk about history a lot ! but if your into that than he's perfect for you. He's funny. Loves to read stories to class and talk ALOT. Lectures ALOT. E-Prime is horrible. But in this class E-Prime is the only way he will accept work. He is very cool though, nice. But you can't be lazy or you won't pass.

Probably one of the most influential professors. He makes you write in Eprime (don't let it scare you) except for on the final exam. extremely nice and helpful with anything! definitely take him!

He's a good teacher, the thing I really don't like is this E-Prime stuff. It makes the work so much harder than it has to be. The limit on the sources allowed is another thing that kills me.

A lot of papers !!!!!! You have a 2-4 page paper due every two weeks. Also its in E-Prime so no is, am, be, was, were, being, been in your papers. But to be honest I never saw him give anyone a grade under a C on a paper. Really nice and super smart guy just a lot of work

Good professor, E- prime is not bad, all you need to do is put effort into the work.

Intelligent, well read, humble, laid back and hilarious. Assignments are not about your feelings or what you did during the summer. Politics, philosophy, social issues and art are his main subjects. If youre shallow, avoid this class. If you want to learn and improve yourself, take the class. Using E-prime is not hard but improves your writing.

I improved my writing in his class. You have to work hard to get a good grade. One would get used to E-prime as the class progresses.

Prof. Zimmerman uses e-prime but even though it's thought at the beginning it will help you improve your writing. If you do all the assignments and homeworks that are on the syllabus (which is not much) you will pass his class with good grades. Although he needs to make his syllabus more clear for students to understand.

He is a good professor, caring and understanding for his student. He is willing to answer if you ever have any question. Would recommend if you have to take many classes at once because he gives good amount of time/opportunities to finish your papers. Just remember to do your homework and you are completely fine.

His lectures are very long and he reads a lot of passages but that is mostly it. Show up, listen, leave and you shouldn't have a problem. By showing up you'll understand if there was a mistake w/ the syllabus and still be able to go on fine. uses E prime (easy). Nicer and helps more than any other MCC English teacher

Theres 2 (2 page papers) and 2 (5 page research papers). The research papers were topics about history and politics, which were easy because he gives you a lot of choices to choose from. Also, his lectures consist of him reading papers and talking about politics but hes a nice knowledgeable professor in the end of the day

Great guy! He seems pretty hardcore at first, but he will adjust to your situation depending on how much effort he sees you are putting into the class. It is a bit difficult to write papers with E-Prime, but you'll get the hang of it. A bit too much political science conversation in class, but your work objectives are clear and not too difficult.
