She got our class late in the semester after we had been through two, she did the absolute best she could, especially with a tricky subject like trig. She will show you how the formulas are derived, she only asks that you ask what you don't know.
Very clear on all the concepts. She gives moderately difficult exams but gives you credit for making a reasonable (and logical) effort. As long as your on the right track and demonstrate that you are making an effort--it's an easy A.
Don't take her class expecting much help, and don't take it if you don't have a STRONG prior knowledge of the subject. She breezes through chapters quickly without reviewing and tends to avoid answering questions during class, getting annoyed when asked. She IS kind and tries to help if you need it, but her accent makes her hard to understand.
This is the first math class I struggled with. She avoids questions with answers like "we went over that already." Don't bother with the book and make trips to math lab if your lost. Her grading sytem is very fair though and that helped me a lot!
HORRIBLE!! She avoids questions. If you ask her a question, she will tell you that is what the math lab is for. She goes extremely fast. By the time you half way through writing down the problem she is already erasing it. Not a helpful teacher. I wish I had taken someone else. If you struggle in math, DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!!
she is a very good teacher, her class is just hard. but if you pay attention and study you should pass it
Amazing, Amazing professor. She makes every attempt to help you, after each problem she asks if you have understand, if you have questions after every one. Her grading system is great you get credit for attempts. She truly cares an does a great job at teaching. Do you homework in advance it will help you a lot and study study study.
Extremely fair and makes a great effort to help each student. Keep up with Math Lab homework it really does help. Her teaching pace is adequate and I will be taking her courses each semester as I climb the mathematics ladder.
The class itself is not easy, but she does help you a lot, she grades generously, if you rather not buy an expensive textbook she is great for that, and she is also pretty easy on the eyes.
If you're not too great with math, this isn't the professor for you. She goes through 3-4 lessons per class, she's a very fast teacher which doesn't give you time to even grasp the concept. If you ask her a question she'll dodge it. I ended up withdrawing cause I couldn't learn like that.
Horrible teacher! She moves so fast. Her tests are on multiple chapters and are only 16 questions long. Her accent doesn't help the situation. Do NOT take her unless you are awesome at math.
Easy class, somewhat easy tests. You must know math before taking her, which is good, she went over new material not all material from previous math classes. Just study, I received a few A's and a some B's on the test. She has a project grade which is almost a guaranteed 100%. SHE HELPS AFTER CLASS in her office if you do need help.
Johnson is a great teacher yes she goes very fast and is not the best at clarifying questions but she gives a LOT of points you dont really deserve so many bonus points and so many points on tests just for showing SOME work Very nice and is willing to help you one on one and has really good notes id reccomend but only if ur decent at math
If you are willing to work for your grade, you will do well in the class. You also need to know your math before taking the class because she expects you to remember what you have done previously in other math classes. She is really nice and wants you to do well in her class. I recommend taking it.
She's an overall nice person but as she's not the best teacher. She expects you to already know most of the material prior to taking the class which makes no sense. Plus, she doesn't help with understanding the material. There's a student-helper in the class that she constantly relies on. If you aren't good at math then do NOT take her!
She's a great professor! She expects you to know the material from the previous classes, and she goes fast, but she covers the material well. Lots of bonus points and very generous grading on the tests. If you struggle a lot in math maybe not for you, but I thought she was easy to learn from, and I appreciated the quick pace cause I wasn't bored
With her accent, it's difficult to understand her. We had an argument because I wanted to work alone on a project instead of with a partner, then she gave me a 0. I had a good reason on why I couldn't make a test, and I could not retake it.
She is nice but she's not good at explaining things. Once, she was absent and a substitute math teacher subbed and at the end of the class everyone was asking his name so we could take him next math semester. Don't take her if you suck at math.
She is a really good professor to take for trig compared to all the others! She allows index cards on exams, gives extra credit, group project, and other grade opportunities. The only downfall is she makes the class do mymathlab homework. She's kind of cute too. Take her!!!
Bad attitude. She gets mad when you ask questions. She is not good at explaining. She taught this course too many times she skips over steps and doesn't explain them well because she assumes you already know it. Sometimes in class she spent deriving equations or doing pointless thing that wasn't on the test and wasting class time.
This was the first math class where I finally understood what was going on. Prof is layed back and doesn't rush. You do have to study, but you can always ask questions. She's in her office constantly. Take her.
HORRIBLE CLASS! She expects you to know everything and just explains problems skipping steps. She isn't helpful at all, if you have questions she will just tell you to go to math lab. She has a horrible accent that's very hard to understand.
Took her for inter alge, college Alg, and trig! BEST PROFESSOR I,VE EVER HAD! Must I say she also provides lots of opportunities to bump up your grade even when you you've failed an exam! Complete the HW and you get extra credit! 1 project in class she helps on! Her 1 notecard on exams are a savior! I only wished she taught Calculus:) LOVE HER!
her lectures are too short and she wastes time deriving formulas instead of showing more examples. notes are way different from her tests! she has a horrible low tone accent that you have to really pay attention to. bad teacher! do not take! she needs to work somewhere else. she has "banned words" in her classroom people cry after tests. dont take
Warning! she is highly over rated. she can not teach for anything. Simply stated, find a better professor
Prof. Johnson is one of the best math teachers I've had. She is very clear and concise. Note card allowed on test is a lifesaver. She gives a ton of bonus points, and partial credit on all open ended responses, so even if you don't know what you're doing, show some work bc you'll get a few points for it. You do need to study, but it's worth it.
If you are taking a STEM major do not take this professor. You wont be prepared at all for Calculus.
Shes a good professor. has an strong accent, explain everything right most of the time gives bonus credit. test are long. homework is on mathlab and she takes the 2 lowest on it,
She is a terrible teacher. When you ask her for help, she will tell you to "think about it". The homework online is irrelevant to why is talked about in class. She takes off points on your test if you don't show your work the way she wants it. She makes up her own methods to find an answer and they make absolutely no sense. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Somehow makes learning Trig enjoyable. Shows great knowledge for the subject and always willing to explain further if you need help. Tough grader, but always gives bonus opportunities. Coupled by the fact that she has a great sense of humour, she was one of my favorite professors.
She's very clear in her lectures, but have a strong accent. Also, offers a lot of extra credits.
I took her two years ago for trigonometry. I studied quite a bit but didn't push myself. Getting an A is very possible with her as long as you put in the work. She is very friendly and her office is always open in case you need help. Clear grading criteria. She has an accent but she is easy to understand. I would take her for all my math classes.
I took her for College Alg, & she is very nice laid back, Willing to help but she did not allow us to Retake tests at all. We had homework but it wasnt enough to boost your grade up. We had no classwork, just Exams and then the final. She also didnt do study guides. Notes were good but your grade will fall if you dont get at least 80 on Tests.
I'm not an auditory or visual learner, and that's all she taught with, which is not her fault at all. She didn't really teach me, but if you are those learning styles, I bet she'll be a good choice. She used Mymathlab in our class, and the grade was based off the HW there, and the tests in class. Our final was just the last chapter, not cumulative
I took her for online. She didn't teach but the class in general was easy. She also gave extra credit to boost your midterm grade, removed two of your lowest grades. There was one discussion, one homework, and one quiz per week. Homework has unlimited tries and the quiz has three tries. As long as you do your homework and understand it you're fine.
I took her for a fall semester last year and it was actually my first college class. I found Mrs. Johnson to be incredibly helpful, intelligent, funny, and very likeable. Also provided extra credit opportunities throughout the course. Loved this professor!
Her tests are so different from the lessons in class, misinforms you about policies, most of the material is online but she doesn't let you know that's where most of the tests are coming fro. If you are gonna take her class make sure you read the syllabus carefully and use the online notes to study for many of the tests.
I took Professor Johnson's Trig course online, and it was pretty much a breeze! I did have to work for my grade, but all quizzes were online. We had weekly discussions due through webcourses. The only downside was that the midterm and final had to be taken on campus, but they were taken straight from the homework and quizzes. I highly recommend!
She's sooo nice!! She has a weird accent but I think that makes her even more interesting when she's teaching. All you do in class is taking notes, she knows her lectures by heart so well you won't need the book. Math lab for hw, notes are also there. SHE LETS YOU HAVE A NOTECARD DURING TESTS, FRONT AND BACK, WHATEVER YOU WANT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I took this class in the Fall 2017 semester and honestly is one of the best classes I have taken. All there is each week is as follows: Homework, Quiz, and a Discussion where you just solve the equation and post it. THAT IS IT. I promise you will not regret taking her class online! (P.S. You do have to buy MyMathLab though... -$97.00)
She gave a lot of extra credit to boost your midterm grade, unlimited homework try, quizzes has three tries. However, for the final and midterm, please, please, please review your ALL homework and quiz. Most of my final questions came from the quiz and I did not review it. I got a 48% on finals but still maintained an A because of the extra credit.
She is very good, has a slight accent but it's very easy to understand her. She cares about your learning and will always help you if you have questions. She allows you to use a 3x5 index card on all her exams, so you never need to learn the formulas by heart.
She was absolutely GREAT PROFESSOR SHE DESCRIBED why something was happening and what was happening. You have to make sure to review after notes and trust yourself during tests.
Homework, quiz, discussion due every week, that's all. However, no lecture videos just notes, so get ready to youtube and teach yourself, but overall its not difficult to follow along. Final and midterm taken at testing center If you're not good at teaching yourself, not the class for you though. DO NOT MISS ASSIGNMENTS. Would take again
Professor Johnson was super great. I am not the best in math, but she made Trigonometry so manageable for me. She writes and explains lectures in class. If you do not understand, she goes over problems and examples in class with you or after class. She is very caring! As a student, use her office hours. It will help tremendously. Thankful for her!
She does have an accent but you can understand what she says, if not shell repeat herself in case students dont understand her. 4 exams, 1 group project, and final. Get 16/20 100s on your hw assignments she drops 4 hw assignments. Allowed to use 1 notecard per exam. If you have trouble in math, you will have to study! Great prof. 10/10
Professor Johnson is great! She does have a slight accent but it's not hard to understand. She will repeat herself and will slow down if you need her to. There are four tests and a final. You're allowed one notecard written with whatever you want on each of them. Her grading style is great because you can still get partial credit on test questions.
This class was one of the hardest I have took at Valencia. Her lectures feel like forever and she writes on the board and from my perspective it is all self taught. Mathlab is a waste I didn't do well on her tests and all that class was based off of was tests, 60% of your grade and the final being 20% If you don't do well on tests do not take her!
Great online class with Professor Johnson! She cares about students. Her online notes/lectures were great and I used them more than an e-book. Instructions were clear, timely, and responses to emails were almost immediate. Study diligently and do homework and quizzes, and you'll get rewarded. I'd taken more classes with Professor Johnson!
Pretty easy class if you do the work. You will need to review the lessons to get a good grade on the midterm and final. Her online classes use Pearson MyMathLab, which is a very simple program. There are 3 attempts for each quiz, and unlimited attempts for homework. If you don't like math, I don't know how you'd do, but for me it was easy.
Do not take her online class. Her online notes don't really match with how mymathlab wants you to answer. Us students pay lots of money to go to college. We shouldn't have to rely on youtube videos to learn. If I'm paying a professor to teach me, I expect to learn from them. You pretty much paying to take tests and watch youtube videos. It's annoyi
I hope you read this before you take her online class. Her notes are so pointless, she doesn't try on her notes. Math is not a reading from power points kinda of subject. it's a waste of money to pay this professor just so you have to watch thousands of youtube videos because she doesn't know how to teach online. She makes this class very hard.
Get ready to youtube your life away, her online class is so hard . She sucks at teaching online. I hope she reads this and change the way she teaches her online classes.
Professor Johnson is very sweet . Answers emails promptly. I took her during the spring . There were weekly homework n quizzes . Midterm n Final . Dropped lowest hw n quizzes n you didnt need the book if you take it online just the access code. I love Math n trigonometry wasnt that bad . Study her notes n utilize the ebook n youll do fine.
Her grading is very clear and the work that needs to be done is always consistent. There isn't room for confusion. There was an error on my homework so I emailed her and she fixed it. She is good with communication which is a must for online classes. I would recommend in-person rather than online for this class though.
Do not take her for the online class. She won't teach you anything and expects you to completely teach yourself. She gives you extra credit to make up for her lack of involvement. I'm a straight A student and was struggling to get through this class. So unless you're ready to teach yourself everything there is to know about trig, avoid!
Great Professor! Fair grader. Offers extra credit. She wants to see you succeed.
This professor was one of the worst I have taken she doesn't teach anything and expects you to teach yourself. I tried emailing her to ask her for help and she didn't want to work with me. She told me that even if I pass the final exam I won't be able to pass the class. She gives notes but they are useless. Don't waste your time and money on her.
Just don't even waste your time! "here are the notes read it figure it out and good luck" thats pretty much how that will go
I took her for online Trig over the summer. Her grading was pretty straight forward. The lessons were all online i did not use the book at all. I never really asked her how to do something so Im not sure how helpful she would have been but based on her notes and weekly updates i would guess she would be pretty helpful.
Her PDF's could be better - it would also be helpful if she provided video lectures or more material in general to help understand a concept. Hmwk is long & difficult but unlimited attempts & quizzes are easier & 3 attempts. Promptly replies to emails & is helpful. Be sure to do the EC, it helps a lot bc midterm & final are HARD.
This class was easy in the beginning but as it went on I was so confused. I took it online and her notes where not good at all and the online textbook was not helpful. I had to figure everything out by myself and get tutoring to pass. She does drop your lowest test, quiz, and homework grade though. Only take this class if you can figure things out.
Great class! This class uses My Math Lab for homework and quizzes (one of each every week). Sometimes there are bonuses (DO THESE) for extra credit that are applied to the midterm. Midterm and final are taken on campus or on Proctor U. One notecard is allowed. 100% hw average means two extra points. Highly recommend taking if you need this class.
Im not good at math, but this class was manageable. The lectures are clear and she tells you what topic is going to be on the test, allows one notecard. A lot of EC opportunity that helps a lot. Hw is not a lot to get done, it also helps with the test.
I took Trig online with professor Johnson and can I just say how much I regret not taking her sooner? I took trig prior with a face2face class and I failed miserably. I also took this course for a month and 21 days barely 2 months. She also gave extra points after exams and offered bonus opportunities.
Uses MyMathLab for homework and quizzes. 1 homework and quiz per week which covers multiple sections in your textbook. 3 discussions in total. Lowest scoring homework, quiz, and discussions are dropped. 2 extra credit opportunities. Due to COVID-19, she changed due dates to be for the class end date, rather than weekly, for flexibility.
Class has a midterm and a Final (20 questions each) Proctored at home. No words cannot describe how amazing Doctor Johnson truly is. A professor who will work so hard with you to get an A. Lots of quizzes and Hw (DO NOT SLACK) Class needs effort don't expect an easy A but it is very doable (Coming from someone who retook this course after failing)
Drops lowest test, discussion, hmwk, quiz scores. Give 2 extra credit assignments. Allows note card for Mid and final. Standard hmwk, quiz weekly, 3 discussions, mid and final exam. Online MyMathlab, videos and teacher notes. Spring 2020
If you need to take trig, choose Professor Johnson. Had to take this class online due to COVID, and it did not disappoint. Math is not my strongest subject, but she makes sure you really get the material. Her notes are VERY useful so look over them. Shes very generous and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Not hard at all to get an A
Awesome teacher! Her class very organized & evenly paced & NOT overwhelming. She tells you exactly what to to study. HMwork & quizzes each wk but she drops 1 & gives extra credit. Trig has tough chapters, but go to her Zooms its so helpful! Sometimes I was the only student & she was so nice and willing to thoroughly help me. I'm so grateful to her.
Homework in MyMathLab in addition to tests. I took this class in the full summer term, but I would have understood the material a little bit better if I the class in a full spring or fall term. Overall, I would recommend Prof. Johnson if you are taking college trig. and I think she does a good job at covering the material.
This class is only good if you are hard on yourself and do the work. Professor Johnson doesn't teach you at all. Everything is due on 12/10. This class work is on My Math Lab and quizzes. This class was honestly the worst. I only passed because I did the work but I'm not going to lie, I taught myself this semester.
Professor Johnson Is the easiest college professor Ive had. No test. Just quizzes. You get to take it up to 3 times. Unlimited attempts on HW. You have until the end of the semester to complete ALL classwork excluding discussions and midterm. I only got a low grade because I waited until the last day to complete my assignments. Dont be me
I'm not great at trig and I got an A. she's very good. I wish I could have her for every math class
Ok, so like unlimited attempts and things due on same day except disc posts. Self-teaching. Maybe I could've kept a notebook, and like be more organized. It's not bad. The exams and quizzes make up the final which is easy. I could've gotten a A but I slacked off bc of personal stuff. Take her or don't. I think math class online is bad for me.
This class was self-paced and everything was due at the end of the semester so it's important to pace yourself. I will say her class wasn't that bad but the discussions were very difficult. The Midterm and Final were the only 2 exams required the rest are quizzes.
EASIEST CLASS I EVER TAKEN! I just took it for the summer 6 weeks. There are 5-6 chapter each chapter has two 15 question homeworks and 5-6 question quizzes per chapter. 1 discussion post on a very easy math question was not that hard. Everything due when class ends so DONT procrastinate till the end. Midterm and final are simple. Please take her!!
I took this class online with the false impression that it'd be easy. She uses honorlock for exams and some assignments so be mindful of that. If you genuinely put in effort, you will pass. On another note, she does seem sweet, so I probably could've had a higher grade if I took her in person.
There is a lot of homework, but they are all OPEN in Pearson. You have to purchase the Pearson program. Means you can work at your pace. The midterm and the final exam are the only ones you cannot work ahead and Honor locks in used for the exams.
for sure need to use a calculator. have google chrome. best of luck. i have not taken a math class in years. this was a challenge.
Super direct, course is almost entirely self paced with assignments not being locked after their due date except for important ones (midterm, final, etc). For extensions reach out to her ASAP, she does not reply on weekends. Will work with you if you really try + do HW. I had several Zoom meets & was able to pass w a D despite heavy personal stuff.
Her grading policy is the best thing she has going for her.-midterm and final is a heavy part of grade, but open notes. I reluctantly said that I would take her again, but if I lived in a region with better options for professors I definitely would not. No lectures; get ready to teach yourself through homework examples. ppt, and youtube.
She just didn't teach. Homework is in My Math Lab and you have to teach yourself. She seemed like she cared on day 1 but that changed. Find a support group to get you through.
She was okay. She responds quickly. Get ready to learn through ppts. The videos provided look like they're from the 90's and it irked me. You'll basically have to teach yourself. I would prefer being taught by someone. Honorlock midterms and finals. She posts all the assignments for the whole term so it's up to you to manage your time well.
