excellent couldn't ask for a better instructor !!
such a good prof. does her best to make sure every single person in the class understands, and goes out of her way to help! no surprises!
hard marker
She is an awesome prof. very helpful! Her tests are very similar to the assignments that we do in class, so if you do your work you will do fine!! I done math 3205 in highschool, and and finding this math super easy!!
Monotone, hard to understand with horrible notes that say definition everywhere while you basically have to guess what the definition is.
Very good prof! She's hard to understand at first but you get used to it! Super nice and easy to go to for help.. notes are great!
Very difficult to understand, was not clear nor concise in teaching, and notes were about as comprehensible as her dialogue. Acknowledged many people did poorly on exams but did not show much concern.
Excellent professor with lots of examples and extra help. Gives you time to try problems on your own and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. I would highly recommend her!
She's a nice woman but I found the course to just not be good but there is definitely worse. She does encourage you and will do what she can to help you!
Her definitions were terrible, she should have written in a way that people without a math degree could understand. When you ask for help, she just tells you the answer instead of showing you how to do it. A very hard marker. Definitely not the best prof I've had... or even close.
Daniela is a very nice person. I loved taking this course with her and she genuinely cared for her students. Every time I went to her office she was there and was super helpful. I'd recommend her to anyone but keep in mind if you hate math, any math course you take is not going to be fun.
Hard to understand and will write notes the whole class. Will have to learn the material on your own. The reason you got to go to class is to get the notes.
Taking her for my first university math course. She's a fantastic prof, very friendly and always willing to help before/after class and during office hours. No bonus marks for completing assignments early, but always plenty of time to get them done. If I had to take another math course, I would definitely look to get her again
Extremely tough grader. Don't expect partial marks.
Very little explanations and examples, very impatient. She is an extremely tough grader. Avoid if possible!
Her examples are way too simple, doesn't prepare you for the assesments. Don't expect any partial marks from her either. On top of all that, she is difficult to understand, and so are her notes. She is also extremely irritated by the slightest bit of noise, and would probably still be angry if all she could hear was the clock ticking.
It may take a few classes to get used to the way she speaks, but after it is no trouble to understand her. A very nice person and willing to help when help is needed. Weekly assignments and online assessments but they aren't hard if you attend class. Lots of examples, and she makes sure everyone understands before she moves on. I recommend!!
Gives easy examples in class and impossible ones on tests and assignments, hard marker so expect no part marks. Gets annoyed by the slightest bit of chatter
Reasonably good prof, if you do the assignments you will understand the tests. However she is an unbelievably tough marker, does not give any part marks what so ever, you could completely understand the concepts and still fail the test by making little mistakes. Avoid if possible.
If SIlvesan is your only option, i suggest taking math next semester. Her lack of completing complicated examples causes students to be stumped when doing assignments/tests. She makes her first test very difficult to force people to drop the course and make it easier on herself to grade a smaller class. She is by far the worst prof i have ever had.
Difficulty of In class examples do not remotely mirror the difficulty of the questions on tests and assignments, along with this the majority of the complicated examples that she does give are rarely completed. Incredibly difficult grader, no part marks, make one mistake and you can expect one mark on that question. Avoid if at all possible.
Daniela Silvesan encourages her students to drop the course. That should say a lot about her. Her tests are not fair, and she does not teach the course well. She blames the students again and again for bad marks, and offers no support whatsoever.
Daniela Silvesan is a very tough marker. She doesn't post any of her notes online which makes studying more difficult. She does have an accent that can be hard to understand at times. She encourages students to drop the course instead of encouraging students to keep trying. Very unapproachable as well. Good luck if you choose her.
Don't do it. Just don't. Shes not clear on a lot of topics, gives you an assignment every week which is impossible to do based on her examples, does not give marks for any effort in trying to do a question. If you get one thing wrong, she takes away all marks. When she covers a topic, she will leave out certain types of examples. Take someone else.
As an engineering one student almost every course I took this semester the prof had notes online. Silvesan did NOT do this. She always got really excited when everyone did well. A lot of people didn't like her because she could jokingly get mean, but I found it hilarious. Accent was thick but not too bad. Very strict on phone use.
Best PROF EVER! I love her and cats.
Very tough grader. If you get any part of a question wrong don't expect part marks at all
Daniela was an amazing prof! Had her for math 1000/1001 and she gives many examples. Tests can be a bit tough but she pretty much lets you know the exact questions beforehand, which is helpful. She is willing to help and is very good at explaining concepts!
Notes are not clear and are very choppy. Topics in this course were poorly explained. However, she is a nice lady.
Ive never struggled this much with a course in my life, came out of highschool with an 85 in math now acheiving the lowest possible passing grade is a struggle. Nice lady, however she is very unclear, disorganized, and just plain awful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Daniela is a great prof! Her notes were very organized and clear, she explains everything and gives lots of examples. Sometimes she can be unclear, but not often. Lots of homework, but only prepares you for tests. Fair grader and fairly easy tests as long as you study and practice. Would Recommend!!!
Loved having Silvesan as my Math 1001 prof. As long as you're actually going to class and doing your share of the work you'll pass no problem. Her lectures are very organized and she often stops to ask for class participation to make sure that we're following what she's doing.
One of the most helpful profs I've had to date. Notes are clear. No matter the prof, you'll like fail if you don't attend class in 1001. Plenty of office hours. There was good practice material for the tests when I took this course. If you are someone who doesn't skip classes, I recommend Dr. Silvesan. If you skip class, just don't take 1001.
She gives fairly clear notes and puts them online, which is a life saver, and she's not too strict on marking.
one of the best profs I had , really organised , just going through her notes and doing the practice she recommends will guarantee a good mark , some people gave her a low rating just because of a few hard questions on test , but if you do the work required you will definitely not have any problems .
Math is one of my weaker subjects but Dr. Silversan was good at explaining concepts in class. Very approachable and willing to help if you seek her out. Tests were difficult but very fair.
A really great lady all around. Posts her notes online which was helpful if you miss a class (but going is 100x more beneficial). And her assignments and practice midterms pretty much follow the exact same format as the midterms/final. Just study and you'll find it easy. A great prof and I wish I could take more courses with her.
She actually really bothered me. I didn't like her teaching style, and found her condescending at times. Not sure if she's helpful, I never approached her, simply because I didn't like her. I wouldn't recommend her if you have a choice. She's definitely not the worst prof out there, but I just didn't find her good.
I find her easy to understand. However, the examples used in class are simple and I find the class slow, and then on test day the questions are quite hard and not like examples used on assignments and in class. She encouraged people to drop when the midterm average was a fail instead of considering her teaching style may have been at fault.
Hard to understand, moves fast. Examples in class are simple and test content is much much harder and was completely unknown.
Great prof, would defiantly take again!! If you stay organized and do regular practice you will have no trouble getting at least 70%
Daniela is an amazing prof, and very caring. Gives feedback on all assignments to help students know where they went wrong, she uses lecture capture so if you miss class you can watch it online when she uploads it at the end of the week. Is clear on what you will be tested on. Tests are fair. Definitely recommend if you struggle with math, A+
Daniela is a good prof who cares about her students. It is important to go to class and to practice the material to do well. Lectures were pretty good and she always does many examples in class that would later appear on tests and the final. Overall a good choice.
Daniela is an awesome prof! You NEED to go to class to get a good grade, but she puts her hand written notes online at the end of each week. She also did lots of examples (sometimes too easy), was a great marker & gave lots of part marks. She gave sample exams which were very similar to the midterms. She has an accent, but easy to understand!
Posts recordings of every lecture online, as well as the class notes, practice exams / work, and assignments. As someone who struggles with math, I found she clearly explained what to do and what to expect. The only real con is she has a bit of an accent, which can make understanding difficult every now and then.
She is probably one of the better math profs at mun (for math 1090, at least). Her accent spooked me the first time I heard her speak, but you get used to it almost immediately; she's very very easy to understand after a class or two. I also found her teaching style very easy to understand. She's also very nice, I recommend!
she really cares about the students and wants you to pass. alot of assignments and test but only worth a mark or two each so just makes sure you understand the topics. explains and covers topics well.
Dr. Silvesan is not a good prof or person in my opionion. When I had her she was mad that she had the enginnering slot of 1001 with 130 students so she made a really hard first test so people would fail and told everyone who failed to "drop the course immediately." She doesn't about her students and usually didn't go to her own office hours.
Best math professor i have had in years! Explains things in basic math terms and gets to the point. If you struggle with any topics she is always available after class to help. There are a lot of assignments but they prepare you 100% for the exams and she posts tons of extra practice sheets on D2L!
Goes above and beyond to make sure that you understand the material- very approachable & kind. Weekly, lengthy assignment & hard midterm- but not impossible if you go through all the test preparations on D2L & do the problems in the book. She also does lecture recordings in case you can't make it to class, but I recommend still going!
Silvesan is a pretty decent prof, she has an accent but it is super easy to understand. Her weekly assignment are fair and help with the midterm. She really enforces the idea of extra practice and you should take her advice. She really helps with getting ready for math 1000
She is the best prof I have yet to encounter! She goes through many examples, willing to help you succeed and is just overall the best. She cares for you and want to see you do well. By far the best! She makes math that much better.
She gives an assignment a week and they were very long. I found that she over complicated everything, I have always had trouble with math and she made it that much harder for me
Silvesan has an accent but shes still very clearly understandable, better than most profs with accents. She does require that you do an assignment each week to pass in on Wednesday but theyre usually easy grades. She cares and wants her students to understand and succeed. She also posts notes online every Friday and uses LectureCapture.
Easy to get confused in her class as she does not explain steps. Assignment questions can be hard, however her tests are very fair. Pay attention to examples as test questions are extremely similar to the ones she does during class.
Very understandable accent, little to no language barrier. Uses lecture capture recordings. Tests are harder than the assignments, I highly reccomend picking up a final exam booklet from the math general office because she takes a lot of her questions from there. Assignments are easy marks. Stays after class for help. Overall good prof choice.
She is a fabulous professor. Her lectures were just her doing examples, very similar to what was on both midterms and final. She explained things well and clearly and offered extra help if you didn't understand something. She tells you what types of questions will be on both midterms and the finals, which you will already have examples on.
The material is difficult, she teaches it well. Class not mandatory as she uploads her lectures. Make sure to keep up on lectures if you do not make classes. Weekly assignments to help prepare for midterms and final.
Daniela is a great prof, little to no language barrier, I failed this class only because I didn't put in the work, if you can take her do it, she puts all her notes online, and wants you to succeed. Do old test and examples in class and you'll do fine on tests, no surprises.
Best of the best.
One of the most loving and sweetest professors you'll ever meet. Before her l had failed Math 1090, but she really made me pass it. She really cares and wants her class to pass and she will go above and beyond for you. Just practice the problems she gives and it will be a great semester. Overally, you should take this prof for any math course!!!!
Math 1001 is a hard course and if you aren't willing to put work in you aren't getting amazing marks. Dr. Silvesan is a good prof, her notes are very clear but she does not post them online and it is so much easier to print them off D2L rather than try to copy down of loose leaf. Before class she asks if anyone has any questions for her.
Very sweet lady who's always willing to help her students. She's very assignment heavy (usually one paper assignment and one or two small online ones per week) but look at them as good practice. Tests and Exams are very fair and very similar to what is on assignments. Definitely recommend Dr. Silvesan!
Daniela is a half decent prof. She will help you out as much as possible if you go to her, she is very accessible outside class and after class. However, one of the main issues I had is that shes a tough grader, especially on written assignments. If you make the slightest mistake in a problem, you probably will loose most of the points.
She's a great prof overall, gives lots of assignments which are great for practice. She is really clear with what she expects of you. Only thing I found is that her class examples are much easier than her assignment and test questions, so get ready to do tons of practice. Math 1001 is a tough course so the difficulty is gonna happen with any prof
Daniela's teaching made me consider doing a math minor, and I am a HSS student. Had her for Math 1090, and 1000. She is such a sweet woman, and is an excellent professor. Makes sure her students understand material, and her examples are very similar to the ones found on tests. Didn't have any issue with her accent. I would love to have her again.
Excellent and straightforward explanation of concepts. very clear when speaking and keeps the class engaged "unlike other profs". Provides lots of practice on d2l and will be happy to answer your questions. sometimes likes to throw one tricky question in midterms. other than that, very organized. highly recommended for math 1001, you wont regret it
I love this prof. She answers emails promptly and will go over any problems over and over until it sticks. She gives online web work and assignments that are easy if you attend class. She wants you to pass.
Gives good feedback and always answers emails. She also has office hours in case you need help with questions outside of class.
She is a great Math Prof, who makes a difficult course much easier. Her lectures are helpful and she clearly states what must be done to pass the course. I would recommend her!
Prof. Silvesan gave lots of examples, was clear on how to do the work, and would take the time if you had questions in class to make sure you got it. She was always available for extra help, gave lots of prep work for exams so their were no surprises. Really nice and easy to talk too.
Silvesan is a very kind person, &cares about her students. She begins every class having ordinary conversation with students &ensuring nobody is confused, and if so, she will explain in great detail until they understand. Her notes are awesome, and match the assignments &exams. She is accessible outside of class, &brought in candy after Halloween
Amazing posted notes. Dumbs down concepts so any type of learner can understand. Not sure why she isnt rated a 5 star prof...?
Had her for Math 2050. Really nice and teaches the material well but you have to go to class and she can be a tough grader. Overall really liked her.
Great Prof. accessible outside class. Always ready to help you if you are not able to understand anything. Very good grader. Would definitely take her again if i get a chance.
Daniela is a phenomenal prof I am so happy I took her. She has an accent but it is not confusing at all, shes super kind and wants everyone to succeed she makes math so simple I would recommend her to anyone
Daniela is one of the best math profs Ive ever had! Her lectures were great and her notes were extremely organized. The way she explained concepts also made them very easy to understand! Her assignments and tests were pretty straightforward and she tells you in class which questions to focus on for evaluations. Really nice lady, very caring!
Her lectures are interesting.
Class average of score of 50% while 40% failed the test. Wth!
I had Daniela Silvesan during my first semester at MUN while taking Math 1001. I love Daniela as a person and a prof. She is so sweet and caring and she wants her students to do well. She is a very knowledgable prof and has a slight accent but is easy to follow. The course itself is very difficult and Daniela moves at a fast pace to cover it all.
Its easy to follow when she solves the actual problems, specific and to the point. But when it comes to generally explaining new topics she loses me, as it takes too long for her to break it down. I have to watch Khan Academy videos in relevant topics to understand what she tried to explain. Also, including all topics in a single exam is anti GPA!
She is amazing; this is my second time with prof Silvesan. I also did 1090 with her. Kind of work heavy, but your mid and final sample tests will be very on point and exam relevant.
Mrs Silvesan is a gem. I found her to be very very good. She's on time with her lectures which are pre-recorded videos. Her assignments, tests and exam were all fairly easy. Shes also very accomodating and always willing to help. Just do the assignments and watch the lectures to get that A. Questions were also easy. A must take tbh!
shes nice but I would take it with someone else if possible not good at explaining where things come from and expect you to just know
The best professor I have ever had. Considering mathematics is not something really easy to learn she makes the best out of her classes! She explains everything in detail so that if you have a gap in basic math knowledge you will definitely understand. Her classes are short and to the point. There are assignments every week but they are very easy.
She is so sweet and responds to emails very fast. She explains math problems very well in her lectures and generally, her assignments and tests are not too difficult. The final exam was a little tricky though and it did catch me off-guard... Overall, she was nice and I definitely wouldn't mind taking another class with her. I like her!
I found her to be great! I found math pretty difficult the first time around (different prof), so I was pretty nervous for this time. But, she was super sweet. Her lectures were pretty detailed and she was always pretty quick when responding to emails. Would definitely recommend her!
To preface this rating, I should say that I failed the first midterm (47%) and promptly dropped the course after that. HOWEVER, I found her lectures easy to understand and follow, and she was always quick to respond to my emails when I had. She also does post a lot of lectures weekly. She was a quite good prof, but calculus was just not for me.
Great prof, explains things well.
Dr. Silvesan is an amazing professor! Her notes are very organized, and she gives alot of examples, which prepare you very well for the final and the midterm. I would definitely recommend her to everyone!
She explains things really well in her lectures and is one of the very few math profs who actually want to see you do well in the course. There is quite a few assignments, 2-3 online and 1 written weekly, but they aren't necessarily hard if you do her lectures and help with the tests. Her tests are based on her practice midterms which is great!
Great prof. However, she grades tough and expects your answer to be the exact same as hers, when it may have different forms that would normally be accepted. Another thing that I noticed in her class is that she often forgets to give part marks, and will often give people more part marks than others with the same answer.
Lecture videos are prepared very well. I was lucky to do the equivalent in high school but her material was explained in such detail that those going in blind are bound to understand. The two midterms and final were difficult yet fair but plenty of other work to make up for any lost marks in written assignments and webassigns. Highly recommend
Would recommend taking Daniela. I took this class remotely. Just make sure you keep up with the lectures and you'll be fine. It is hard to catch up once you fall behind.
I loved Dr. Silvesan! She is very sweet and she provides fill-in notes which (most?) other math 1000 profs do not, which I personally found way easier to follow than handrwitten notes. Her midterms were super easy compared to other classes as well.
Shes hard to understand although she tries to go slow its hard to follow. Lots of unnecessary work and the exam was extremely hard.
Did not start learning anything about this course until I started ignoring her lectures and looking at other videos online. She likes to ignore half of the information which is necessary for students to succeed and just expects you to know it. She also never posted notes which led to many hours of searching through her lectures.
She is a great professor! She gives plenty of assignments to prepare, but can sometimes leave out key information that you'll need to know on exams, She responds to emails very quickly and is there to answer any possible question you have. When it comes to exams she can be a very tough grader, other than that she was a great prof. 1
Dr. Silvesan is amazing. Coming out of high school I was worried for calculus. She made the class super easy and would definitely take her again! Easy grader and understanding!
Amazing in teaching and always made sure I understood
She is a great teacher, if you plan on taking math 1001 i recommend her. Math 1001 is a difficult course in general so if you do get a bad grade in her course 9 chances out of 10 its because you did not put the work in.
Dr. Silvesan is an excellent professor. Her lectures are straightforward to follow. Course content is well divided into sections. Office hours are useful for asking questions and discussing your struggles.
She's good at explaining topics and will point out what rules she's using during her examples. She is very approachable and is available during office hours for any questions. It's still a very difficult course with a lot of things to memorize. I would recommend doing this course during a light semester so you have a lot of time to practice.
Had excellent videos that can be filled with gap notes. Was good at explaining things and provided a few tricks to remember certain things. Her exams are tough (especially the final) and is lenient and helpful but is strict to deadlines and rules.
Had good videos that were good at explaining things and provided a few tricks to remember certain things. In this particular course she only didnt do a lot of assignments. Just one exam and one final so her grading was tough and ruthless (especially the final) but is strict to deadlines and rules and wouldn't budge on any marks.
Makes the course very simple and clear cut. Follows the book and cares about students. If you will do 2050 go with her, you will not regret it.
She posts her notes and the recordings of her in-person lectures on Brightspace. The textbook she used for the course was interesting and was written by another professor of MUN. She is accessible in her office hours which are held during one hour before and after classes. Takes maximum one hour to reply to emails.
She was an awesome professor and well organized. Attending her lectures were the highlights of my day
she was an awesome prof, and very well organized. Extremely fair midterms/exams based on in-class notes.
by far the WORST PROF I HAVE EVER HAD. This woman is rude, disrespectful and very condescending. She will make you feel like you are the dumbest student she has. Not to mention stating that if people have "mental issues" or "family problems" DROP HER COURSE because she "does not have time for that". please save yourself before ever taking her class
Very nice prof, willing to answer questions and help you understand. Records and posts the lectures as well as her notes, which is helpful as she goes pretty fast. The assessments were a few online assignments every week (unlimited attempts), 1 written assignment a week, 2 midterms and a final. Pretty straightforward if you know the material well.
Best math teacher ever! I'm not very good with math. Before the term started, I even feared not passing the course. But Dr. S's lecture made all the steps very clear and easy. There are lots of optional worksheets for practice, which prepared me very well for all tests. I'll likely get an A+ for the course, all thanks to Dr. S's amazing lecture!
Dr. Silvesan is an amazing prof. She assigns a lot of weekly assignments for marks, but the practice helps. She also posts extra practice worksheets and the grading scheme. Her midterms were somewhat challenging, but nothing crazy if you study. Her final was very similar to the practice exams. No surprises with Dr. Silvesan. 10/10 would recommend!
Dr. Silvesan was a very nice and approachable person. She was very organized and was very accessible outside of class times. In saying this, I found her class difficult because she just filled in the notes without explaining how she was doing anything. She was extremely fast and very hard to follow. If you find math hard I would definitely avoid.
Greta professor. Her material is very well laid out. She is enthusiastic and explains math extremely well. She cares for the students, is approachable and helpful. Would actively seek to take another class with her.
I had her for Math 1090, she was a great teacher, gave lots of practice and didn't require a textbook. Her midterms were slightly difficult, but it really helped you to prepare for the final exam. She's a bit of a tough grader and won't give you many marks out of pity. You must attend class. Overall I would recommend this teacher for Math.
Fantastic! did multiple exmaples for each topic and provided great feedback. She also records her lectures and posts them
This was the second class I have taken with Dr. Silvesan and she is AMAZING. Explains topics very well, posts practice exams that are almost identical to the real ones, and is extremely helpful in the live review sessions. She would basically tell us what questions would be on the tests in her review sessions. Wish I could have her for every course
Messy illegible notes, can have up to 4 assignments due on the same day. Reasonable grading and difficulty in testing, but with the unorganized and messy lectures/lecture notes, it makes the overall difficulty higher than it should be. I found using the textbook to learn the material gave me better results on assignments.
Can't comment on her in-person teaching, but based off online lectures she was great. Follows a good structure that makes it easy to take notes and review. Take her over Sullivan if thats your choices :)
One of few math profs who is personable and caring. She is genuinely interested in what she's teaching and facilitating class discussions. She explains things with lots of examples and clearly. There is a textbook for the course, and she submitted her own copy into the library on reserve for us to look at if we can't afford the textbook.
Professor Silvesan gives great lectures and plenty of practice for midterms and finals. I would absolutely take her as a professor again if given the opportunity. Textbook purchase was required for online assignments but otherwise it was not used.
A funny, nice prof who is great at explaining math. There was a lot of homework but it does prepare you really well for the midterms which were always easier than the homework. All of her classes are recorded so it was always easy to catch up even if you miss multiple classes. Her notes were pretty clear and easy to follow. Amazing prof!
A great prof. Does well at explaining how she got each answer and notes are very clear. Lectures are recorded so if you miss a class it is easy to catch up. Midterms were fairly easy so long as you do the extra practice given and the practice midterms given. All assignments are graded fairly with reasonable time to complete. Would take her again.
Very heavy material for someone doing a full 5 course load. Recommends you study 2 hours at least every day which I didn't have the time for due to other courses, very nice prof, lectures and alright, probably would have found it easier if I wasn't doing other courses that took up so much time with homework, assignments and studying.
Daniela was an amazing professor. She did so many examples that helped me out very much. And she does post a lot of assignments, but normally they are easy and a guaranteed 100%, and they really helped with my understanding. 10/10 recommend.
Professor Silvesan was an AMAZING professor! She provided a TON of examples for every possible question and went through step by step clearly in a way that was easy to understand. If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to speak up because she will make sure to keep going over it until everyone understands.
Dr. Silvesan was one of the best profs ive had. She is a great instructor, and is very clear on what she expects. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed, so she's happy to help. She made it clear on what we should do to succeed in the course, Math 1000 can be a tough course but Dr. Silvesan made it manageable, great prof.
Daniela Silvesan is an angel on Earth. She is so caring, genuinely wants her students to succeed, sweet and funny! She teaches tough topics but explains them well. If you listen and attend her lectures regularly you'll be fine. She's amazing for answering your questions and emails.
Amazing teacher, if I had to take another math class again I would choose her over any other math prof. Very good lectures, cares about students, and very clear on expectations for her class. As long as you go to her class and pay attention you will do great in the course. Is a hard grader when it comes to midterms.
I didn't expect to do well when retaking this course, however, I was pleasantly mistaken. She explains every topic clearly and is dedicated to ensuring all her students understand the material. I highly recommend taking her classes, attending every lecture, and going to her office hours. I would definitely want her as my prof again!
Dr.Silvesan is a good professor and definitely knows her stuff! She takes her time with examples and explains each step she does thoroughly. However she does have an accent which doesn't affect her teaching, but I know for some people that's an issue. 10/10 would recommend you take her class!
dr. silvesan was an excellent professor! i took MA2320 in my third year of my math major and of all of my professors ive had for math at memorial, dr. silvesan is by far my favorite ive ever had! she provided gap notes which you fill in along with her in class, and she provided us with lecture captures of each lecture in case you missed one!
Math at mun isn't easy but this was a good prof. She taught clearly, uploaded notes, engaged with the class, and had office hours. Assignments and quizzes were really helpful. Gave part marks wherever she could. Was responsive via email
Professor Silvesan is a fantastic math teacher. Her lectures are clear and engaging, with plenty of examples to help you grasp the concepts. While the workload is heavy, the assignments are fair and really reinforce your understanding. Unstuck Study AI was a lifesaver for prepping for exams!
Daniela was an amazing prof and such a sweet person. She genuinely cares about her students and gives the perfect amount of in-class examples. She made the course feel so much easier (although it is a lot of work), 100% recommend!!
Daniela is a cheerful woman you will never mind attending a class for. Though she has a slight accent, you'll get used to it. Daniela demonstrates the course material to the class and what she expects from you on assessments. Grading is fair, and all class notes and plenty of extra practice are available on brightspace.
She clearly cares a lot about her students and gave very high quality lectures. Also provided very high quality and comprehensive gap notes that made learning the content much easier in my opinion. Would definitely take again if given the opportunity.
Great professor, walks through everything during lectures and provide lots of examples. She does assign multiple assignments each week including online ones which can be frustrating at times. Final and midterms were all fair. Enjoyed her lectures and would recommend taking her class.
If you have a choice in prof for this course I would absolutely recommend her. She gave clear lectures and many resources for practice. Clear feedback on assignments and tests. She also cares a lot about her students.
Dr. Silvesan is a great professor, fair grader and her lectures were very helpful. She is also easily accessible outside of class. I Highly recommend her
Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Silvesan. If you are looking at taking 1001, aim to take it with her. She is extremely accessible outside of the classroom, and she gives great practice/ resources. Assignments were great practice as well. She cares a lot about her students, wanting all to succeed. Very fair marker with excellent feedback.
I loved this course and the prof! Dr. Silvesan was amazing, gave plenty of practice and was very fair in her expectations. Each midterm had one tough question but the final was very straight forward and just like the practice. Given the opportunity, I would definitely take her again.
She is so amazing and nice, but only if you try in the course. Honestly, if its evident you're not trying she will call you out on it, in front of the class no less. However, I must stress that's only if you are so clearly not trying. She is friendly and very helpful with any questions you may have. Cannot recommend her enough!
I took Silvasan for 1001, as a first-year student after completing the CPT and was not disappointed. She has amazing lectures and goes at a constant pace to ensure her students have a good understanding. She's very accessible and overall allowed me to enjoy going to her class. I couldn't recommend her enough!
Dr. Silvesan was a fantastic professor. She clearly demonstrated that she cared about her students and wanted everybody to succeed. She provided many different resources and additional yet not mandatory work, which is very helpful in this type of course. If you have the option to take Dr. Silvesan's class, I would highly recommend it.
She was very kind and caring, and gave fair exams and assignments and lots of practice exams that were very similar to the real exams; overall, she is my favorite professor so far!
Cared about the students and provided lots of practice material for studying. Lectures were delivered well, and she was very helpful
She was incredible. Had to retake this course but she gave us so may resources. She provides notes, extra practice, sample midterms and finals, the whole nine yards. Her lectures were easy to understand and she did her best to make math 1001 less confusing and aunting than it is (it worked). Do the extra practice, go to the lectures, and you're set
Amazing experience. Would 1000% recommend for any student wishing to do well in this course. All class notes are posted day of and each lecture comes with a set of practice problems. All graded work is returned quickly and with exact feedback on where you went wrong and how they wanted the answer to be. Incredible professor.
Best professor I've ever had. Useful lectures with notes posted same day. Many resources such as daily extra practice, sample midterms and finals. Gave partial marks on tests and assignments if she could see an effort or thought process. Very nice, understanding and funny, and easily accessible outside of class. Fantastic prof, 100% recommend!!
Dr. Silvesan is a great professor. Her lectures are easy to follow with clear notes. After each lecture, She posts practice problems on the topics covered in that days class, along with many practice exams and optional worksheets. Her expectations are clear and she tells you everything you need to know for the midterms and final.
100% would take again. Lectures are great makes it very clear what type of questions to expect on tests. notes are all posted.does examples of problems in class. if you have a choice pick her as your prof.
Best prof I've had so far, had her for 2 different classes. Caring and kind both times, well laid out course with easy to follow lectures. She is extremely fair and if you do her practice worksheets/exams you're basically guaranteed an A. Midterms and final took problems directly out of practice materials. Can't recommend her more.
Awesome overall! Very accessible outside of class through office hours and email. Fair grader with clear feedback, explained topics clearly and was very fair on midterms and final. 100% would recommend for 2050
Great teacher. Would 100% take her again. Super sweet and a very fair grader. She's amazing I absolutely loved her!!
It is clear that Dr. Silvesan truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Fair Grader and very fair midterms. Would definitely choose her again in the future.
Daniella was a great professor. she teaches really well, providing definitions and example. She keeps the class engaged by asking questions, and not just reading from slides. Notes are posted instantly, and lectures are recorded, you still need to do the practice and homeworks (not just have ai do it) and you'll do very well.
Daniela is a great professor who truly cares about her students. Her lectures are very helpful, and attending them is highly recommended. Since finals and midterms make up over 80% of the final grade, studying hard for them is very important . She's also very approachable outside class if you need any help. I'd definitely take her again.
Could not recommend this prof enough! She is extremely caring and provides ample problems to prepare for the tests. She also uploads all of her lectures and notes making the course extremely accessible!
