I dropped this class because she was really hard to understand and went through the material SO quickly - I learned nothing the 3-4 weeks I was in this class. You basically have to go home & teach yourself everything. She does post everything from the "lecture" online, which helps.
Great prof. Very helpful. highly recommended.
Although she has an accent she is smart. this class is hard and requires extra student effort. She gives great notes. She just needs to speak up a little louder. She is however great!!! Struggling students will complain about accent but trust me, she is good!!
Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. I don't pay to go to school to teach myself the material. Huge language barrier. Classes are very boring, if you have to take her...stay home and read the book instead of going to class. About half of the class dropped, if that says anything.
It took me a few weeks to understand Tapu; she speaks very quickly and is quiet. She is extremely willing to help, but you definitely must ask for it. Then she will stay with you until you understand. This is definitely a class that you will have to study outside of.
She's very helpful. She gives great notes. Her accent gets in the way at first but you'll get used to it. She knows her stuff backwards and forwards!
She moves through chemistry like you already know it. Becareful! luckily i'm in the premed community so I know a lot of the people in the class and we can study together. the web ct quizzes are pretty easy. she is very hard to understand. So i hope you enjoy reading because your textbook is your new bestfriend for this class. drop if you can
Chemistry was made to be hard.... but Tapu tries her best to make it understandable. It was hard in the beginning to understand her but you get use to it really fast. Studying is a must but her test really aren't hard. Ask questions and she will make sure you understand.
She is smart and knows what she is talking about but she goes through the material like we already know it. she goes WAY to fast. I knew what she was talking about because a. i had a very good chem teacher in high school and b. i am good at understanding accents. if you dont have either of those things do not take. her tests are ok to me not others
Communication is the main problem in her class; Dr. Tapu's accent is so thick that she is near impossible to understand and she speaks quietly, her handwriting is difficult to read. The notes she puts online are helpful though. She flies through the material and tests on material not emphasized or even covered at all during lectures. Avoid.
very helpful, she posts notes and practice tests on webct, if you study, use the notes and practice tests and ask her for help if you dont understand anything, you're gauranteed and A. she's always willing to help and she curves final grades.
Very helpful. She would make sure we knew the material. Gave study guides. Great teacher and easy A
little hard to understand her goes little too fast but have to write everythin she writes on the board. her style is like Gwaltney. drops 1 lowest test out of 2 and drops 2 lowest quiz out of many. her tests are all about reactions and some mulitple choice like which is more aromatic out these etc.... know the material and do the worksheet tht she
Dr Tapu is great, i had no luv for chem at all and ppls told mii O.chem wuz very hard but she made it very easy. i actually enjoyed coming to class. she's the best prof i have had in Ksu. i don't understand what pple mean by she has an accent barrier...HELLO! don't y'all think dat u hv an accent as well. try and listen and u'll unserdand her.
Dr. Tapu is a great teacher, her class is very hard though. I went to her several times for help outside of class, and she was always willing to sit down with me. She's very nice. I just wish I was better at organic chemistry!
She a very cool Prof! knows her chem! teaches well and looks good too....what more could you ask for?
The BEST! Take her for Organic 1 and you will be very prepared for o-chem 2. I would not recommend taking her for o-chem 2 if you had Gwaltney for o-chem 1 since she is more difficult than Gwaltney. Get ready to learn. She goes fast but you get used to it. I LOVED her class. She can kick Gwaltney's rear end any day.
Dr. Tapu was a difficult teacher. She taught the class as a master level class. I had to receive outside help in order to do well. Her quizzes are easy you just have to study as for the exams they were a little bit more difficult. If one puts forth the effort the class is not hard to pass. Organic Chemistry with any teacher is going to be tough.
Dr. Tapu is the best chem teacher ive had at KSU. She's really helpful and does plenty of examples on the board. She does go fast, but if you attend class its not hard to keep up with her. She gives loads of opportunities for you go earn extra credit by going to the board. Best teacher, wish she tought every chem clasS!!!
This is a hard class.. but Tapu makes it crystal clear as to what she expects from her class, and that is why it is really easy to do well in her class. She gives PLENTY of extra credit opportunities, drops two quizzes, and replaces your lowest test grade with the final. Her tests are based on her notes, I didn't open the book once this semester!!
Tapu refused to help me at all when I tried to get some help from her. I was failing at the time and she told me it was probably best if I didn't return to class because in no way would I get above an F. Hopefully that explains her helpfulness. I hear she was having a bad week the day she told me that, but still. She's ok.
Going into test #3 I had an A in the class. Exam 3 was nothing like the previous tests, it was made to be MUCH harder...class average was failing. She never curves. We just took the final, which is mostly standardized...bye bye A. :(
Organic is simply a hard class, but Tapu gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Although tests 1-3 were not curved, I still thought she did a good job of giving a lot of examples to help understand the material. I would recommend taking her. Do NOT miss class.
Well organized, provides clear notes on-line, lectures follow notes, plenty of opportunity for extra points, offers study sessions, tests are fair. What else could you ask for? Organic 1 is a tough course, you must study hard if you want an A. However, that is a reflection of the material, not the teacher. Tapu is outstanding!
Overall good teacher. Tests can be tricky though. Important to study regularly because she likes to give quizzes. Not a good idea to take her if you prefer to cram.
Tapu is a great professor. You don't really have to read the book, she does so many examples in class and gives you tons of practice work. She even gives sample tests and extra credit. She really is a wonderful professor. Organic Chem isn't as hard you thought it was. Gen Chem 2 is worse.
Had her for organic 1 and 2. She's very clear and her tests are easy and straight-forward if organic chem is your thing. If not, then you will need to study. She's very helpful and there's tons of opportunity for extra credit. Will replace low test grade with final if better. Very great professor!
Do not take this teacher. I have her for the summer and half of the people in the class had her in the spring and failed. I had Gabriel for Organic 1 and he is way easier. Her test questions are way harder than anything she covers in class. Nice teacher, but her tests are ridiculous.
She was a smart professor. She took a little getting used to because her accent is strong. Otherwise I enjoyed the lab. She isn't always clear on what she wants to see at the end of each lab. Make sure you do your work ON TIME. Do your lab note book each time because she is very strict about this. I do recommend her, just do the pre-lab work!!
She was a great teacher, very helpful, very clear. Puts everything online which is an incredible help for the test. learned alot and definitely feel prepared for O. Chem 2
I went to class everyday but in the end, had to teach myself.4 tests, doesn't drop any, quizzes almost every week, and online hwk.She does post old exams which can be helpful.Tests have few MC but most are problems. If you're one of those who cares more about problems than concepts, take her. If not, I HIGHLY recommend Gwaltney.
I love how she is very straight forward. Exactly what she says in class is what is on the quizes and tests. I have always been horrible at Chemistry but I enjoyed this class. She is not one of those teachers that plays mind games with you, she teaches, and then tests you on the material. Straight forward
Great professor. Helpful anytime she is available, even outside of normal office hours. You don't have to buy/read the book for the class, but it's very helpful. I didn't really enjoy chemistry before taking her class but now I love organic chemistry and find it very interesting.
Very good professor. She is very helpful and always gives an opportunity for extra credit. All you have to do is go up to the board and earn your points which can have a huge impact on your grade. Her test are very relevant to the material she lectures. Just do the hw, practice sheets, and study session and you should at least make a B.
Great teacher, has an accent that takes a little getting used to, but she is a great professor. She will really try to work with you if you need the help and are willing to try. She honestly wants you to succeed in O. Chem, but it isn't a free ride. It does take a lot of work and effort. A is possible, B is more likely
She likes to try to intimidate students. She will ridicule you if you answer wrong, but all in all she is not so bad. Show up to class, read ahead, ask questions. In the end theres a slight chance she may treat you with some respect.
Great Professor. Willing to help anytime she's in her office. I didn't enjoy chemistry very much before taking organic I, but now I love it. As long as you work hard, A is very possible. Some students feel like she demeans them. I feel like they are being overly sensitive. You get what you put into this class.
Good professor overall. Had her for Orgo I & now for Orgo II. Take her for Orgo I as she makes the class interesting & understandable. Orgo II however I'd say take someone else. She gives bonus pts for going to the board, but depending on your class size and the room, this can actually become unfair. Do the practice wrksheets and get help early.
You MUST attend every single lecture and study EVERY DAY to pass. Text book isn't mandatory, notes are posted online as well as practice worksheets. Worksheets are extremely helpful for exams. Old exams are posted for practice.Final can replace one test grade but it's comprehensive. Quizzes and online homework go towards final grade
SHE IS FAIR. make sure you attend lectures and pay attention. the subject is hard but she is very good at explaining the material. very helpful. I enjoyed Organic Chemistry II due to her explanations of class materials. Highly reccommedned
I heard she was such a good teacher however i was not impressed at all. Her attitude was not the best, very unapproachable i had to go to my orgo 1 teacher for help. No go!
She is by no means an easy professor, but then again, it's not an easy class either. Offers study sessions (1 hr/wk) that offer more practice, and often further explanation than just lecture. Expects you to learn the material. Students who feel like she is demeaning typically ask ridiculous questions frequently. She is extremely fair in grading!
She is a fantastic teacher who doesn't deserve the ratings she has right now. She deserves better than that, in my opinion. She teaches at a moderate pace, and is always available during her designated office hours for help after class, in her office, and in study session. The textbook is barely needed (not very helpful).
Great Prof. I thought she was extremely helpful and quite funny. Some found her a tad harsh...but I am too. "No that is wrong...sit down" I Highly recommend for Orgo I.
Tapu was an awesome teacher! Great attitude and always makes you laugh. Challenges the class with bonus points. Gives plenty of practice. Her tests and quizzes practically come straight from her examples and w/s's. Very clear by always drawing maps, pictures, charts, and 3D models. Used the book maybe 3 times and got an A. TAKE HER!
Do not buy the textbook. Go to the study sessions, she takes note of who goes and it helps. She could not make this any easier. If I could pay her to teach my upper level classes now, I'd be glad to do it. Seriously, take her. Anyone who didn't get an A in this class thinks they're still in AP high school chem and wants their hand held.
Has an Romanian accent but easy to understand, very nice, and o so intelligent, brilliant when it comes to O-chems. Don't ask stupid questions if you are not in every class. She'll know your a fool and so will all the chem majors the class. Explains everything well. Test/Quiz right from material in class. Easy on the eyes.. their I said it.
Dr.Tapu is the best teacher that I have ever had. KSU should be so proud to have her. She Cares for her students a lot and makes chemistry fun. To get an A you have to work hard but If you get lower than B, then its your own fault. Great teacher.
Dr. Tapu is an awesome professor. She make O-Chem tolerable and actually make sense. I highly recommend her. Tests and quizzes are straight from what we learned in class. Still study hard because O-Chem is tough, but she makes it possible to get an A. IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CLASS, TAKE HER.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR LAB!! Awful professor, doesn't explain what's expected on any of the lab reports until after they have been graded and handed back to you. EXTREMELY disorganized, and will often post broken links and incorrect schedule information, which may cause you to come in prepared for the wrong lab. But she will never admit to any fault.
Dr. Tapu is a wonderful professor! She is really smart and very detailed. She would answer any questions you have. Organometallic was a hard class, but she makes it understandable. I would take her again if she teaches another upper level course.
I always have a great experience with Dr. Tapu. This was my second class with her and still was never a dull moment. She answer all questions even unintelligent ones. I would definitely take her again if I could.
The best Orgo professor at KSU. I took her for Orgo 1 & 2 and could not have loved the class more. I heard about how difficult it was and was surprised at how Dr. Tapu was able to explain everything with great clarity. Keys to succeeding in this class are 1) Don't buy the text book. 2) GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS! 3) Study hard. She's straight forward
Dr.Tapu is an amazing teacher. She is very good at explaining stuff and she gives you everything you need in class. She makes the most difficult concepts easy to understand. Pay attention in class and do the practice problems on the board(for extra credit) and read her chapter notes online and you will be good. Not an easy class but not bad at all.
Dr. Tapu is great!! The class is difficult, but Tapu makes the concepts simply and easy to understand. Do the practice problems, extra credit, and read her notes and you'll make a good grade. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
OChem generally is a difficult class, but Dr. Tapu is a wonderful professor. Her notes and tests are very straightforward, so if you pay attention in class, do her practice problems, and study, you should earn at least a B. Go to the board to earn extra credit as much as possible, it will definitely benefit your grade.
The most clear professor you can take for Organic Chemistry at KSU. She provides you with everything you need to succeed in this course: notes, powerpoints, practice worksheets with answer. There are 3 tests and 7 quizzes. You can drop 2 quizzes and your final can replace your lowest test score. She is excellent! If you want to pass, TAKE HER!
Hardest class I have ever taken. She does not go into detail about anything in her lectures, is always in a rush, and is a demeaning, rude professor. Yes, there is extra credit by going up to the board to do problems but if you get it wrong, she will make you look stupid in front of the entire class. Do not expect any partial credit on tests either
Ochem is a hard class. If you follow her lectures to a "t" you will pass. If you do what she says, which means actually study and go over her practice problems, you will make a B. If you try really hard, you will most definitely make an A. She is insanely clear on what it takes to do well, and she is very very helpful. Amazing Teacher!
Tapu is a very clear professor. She moves quickly, so you need to pay attention and go to class. Take advantage of the extra credit, made the difference between a C and B for me. She provides TONS of practice problems with the answers and makes it very clear that if you don't practice you won't do well. Really not a difficult subject if you study.
I took Dr. Tapu for both Organic 1 as well as 2. She is a very thorough in her lectures. Quizzes are easy if you study the material, go to class, and do the practice homework. Be willing you put in the hours per dayweek for the class. Extremely tough class, but a good grade can be obtained with work and effort.
The class is hard but she gives you opportunities for extra credit. She isn't always the happiest to help you, but she will. I definitely had to put in the extra time, and the book helped A LOT.
Tapu is awesome! Ochem is difficult but she makes it enjoyable. She's very fast but will stop if you have a question. Give extra credit if you go up and answer questions on the board. She's super passionate about what she does so that is a plus too.
I had Dr. Tapu for lab and I learned so much from her than I did in lecture. Although her demeanor is very strict and austere, she is very helpful and an excellent instructor. She's a very tough grader, but I don't feel she was unfair. It's not an easy A, but you will definitely learn from her.
Considering your options for chem profs @ KSU, take Tapu. Her notes are online but awful, I only read the textbook (buy the manual) &didnt take notes. Read book for the final (no need for ACS guide) READ THE BOOK CORRECTLY AND YOU WILL PASS. 30 bonus points offered in class. Online hw are book problems, so you can seriously buy the answers! :)
Tapu is one of the best chem professors at Kennesaw state! It's not an easy class but the way she lectures will help you learn the complex subject of orgo. Test consist of multiple choice q's and free response. Offers extra credit if you participate in class. Wiley homework is pretty easy! I recommend taking her over other ochem professors.
She is very rude!! Students are afraid to go to her office hours because she makes you sound stupid and gives you looks if you ask any question you don't understand. She gives extra credit if you go on board to solve question but if you get it wrong she makes fun of you so barely any one goes up. I WOULD TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
She's okay but her tests are way harder than they should be. She's not specific on what will be on tests. Test questions come from reading book, her lectures and powerpoints. Lots of material!
I had Tapu for Fall 17 and she was AMAZING. Obviously organic is hard and there is no way to make it easy but she knows her stuff inside and out. You get extra credit all semester for answering questions on the board. She has a Romanian accent but when she knows itll be hard to understand her, she uses models, videos and draws EVERYTHING. TAKE HER!
She is the best professor I have ever taken at Kennesaw. She lets you go up during class to get bonus points. Reading ahead makes getting bonus points very easy. Her tests have sections straight from the examples she gives you. Do the practice and everything that she says and an A is easily attainable. I changed my major because of Tapu.
HARDEST PROF I EVER TAKEN. I am a chem major and get As and Bs in all my classes, however i failed this class!! I studied so hard and it was still impossible to pass her exams.. she makes you learn so much unnecessary stuff and then for test she puts so much multi-step synthesis and mechanisms. She is always rushing in class
AVOID HER. she is super rude and intimating. shes also picky and barely gives extra credit on quizes or tests. You can study for days/weeks and still fail because her tests are so inconsistent and hard. If you go to her Office, she will just roll her eyes at you and make you feel dumb because she thinks shes above everybody.
Although she isnt the nicest, Tapu is hands down the best ochem prof at KSU and it's not close. Nobody else supplies you with the tools to get an A as easily as she does, and if you study her practice exams and practice worksheets very well you should get an A. I took ochem 1 and 2 with her and would never recommend any other professor for ochem
Best ochem professor at KSU. Very very hard class, but not because of her (most intelligent professor I have ever had) Online hw boosts grade, 7 quizzes/2 dropped, 4 tests/final replaces lowest. Gives detailed note compilations and extra credit points for answering a question on the board (this saved me, don't underestimate the effect on grade)
Dr. Tapu is superwoman!! She's the most incredible professor and so willing to help! She is very intimidating at first, but introduce yourself and be willing to talk to her and you'll find that she's a really great person! Lectures are wonderful, tests and quizzes are consistent, and you are supplied with everything you need to do well! TAKE HER!!
For organic 1, she's amazing. For orgo 2 though, I DO NOT recommend her. Not enough time in the world to memorize all the mechanisms that she throws out. She's nice and all, but she takes an already hard topic and makes it even harder. I would 1000 times recommend Dr. Aditya or Alexander over her any day for orgo 2. Orgo 1 though I recommend her.
At first I thought Dr. Tapu was a hard teacher from the ratings received. However, this class isn't as bad as I expected it. She provides lecture notes(READ THEM) and her tests are very similar to her practice test and her practice worksheets. She has 7 quizzes with 4 pop quizzes. I would recommend her for sure. She's also a very fast grader!!!
The only downside to Tapu is she does go very fast and doesnt really "help" with questions. She is very specific when she teaches and does a lot of examples! DO THE PRACTICE TEST AND STUDY GUIDES and you will pass! they helped me out so much!
It was a very hard class. She teaches by doing a ton of examples but not really explaining them rather than simply doing them. She also has an accent that isn't impossible to understand, just something to be aware of. She does offer bonus points for participation which is the only reason I got an A, so if you take her, participate.
Her class is incredibly hard especially if you didn't take her for ochem 1. The homework is on Wileyplus and is about 40 questions long. The exams are very detailed. You have to memorize all the mechanisms or you won't pass. If you are confident enough to race to the board, you can answer questions once during a class for a bonus point. They add up
What can I say? She knows her stuff! Sure sometimes she gives you the face when you answer a question wrong but overall shes a top tier professor. Extra credit for going to answer problems on the board. You can turn quiz Ds to As with those points, easy. The class is hard ofc but just REALY study. Bare minimum and an understanding pulls a C.
I took Dr. Tapu for organic 1 and barely passed her class, but I took her again for organic 2 and made a B. Her tests are not hard if you focus on the class notes she provides and practice sheets. Its a tough class because Organic Chem isnt easy but if you put the work in and pay attention youll be fine.
There were 4 homeworks and a final for the Maymester. She gives you plenty time to complete them. Responds to email quickly, and can point you in the right direction if you have questions. I had trouble nailing down the concepts, but with problems that she worked in lecture and the homeworks prepared me for the final. I would take her again!!!
Love love love her! I took her for organic 1 and 2 and got a high A in both so it is possible if you put in the work! She gives so many examples that are useful AND post previous exams which are very similar to current exams so study those! She's great, I recommend.
Tapu is a solid option for Ochem. She has weekly quizzes and HW which aren't bad if you pay attention and study. Don't be fooled, tests are much much harder than HW and quizzes, but she gives bonus points for answering questions in class which can literally save your grade. She does make you feel stupid at times so if you are sensitive maybe avoid.
Dr. Tapu is funny, understanding, and kind. My only bone to pick is that she goes WAY too fast. I had to restudy the material even after lecture. Since it's a hard class, it's expected. She has hw and quizzes every week. Both are much easier than the tests. She offers many opportunities for bonus! She's always available to review material. Take her
PARTICIPATE!! She gives bonus points for answering questions in class and those points can bring you up a whole letter grade. She does go fast and her tests are HARD but if you participate and earn as many bonus points as you can then youll be fine. I earned 20 bonus points and my grade went from barely passing to a B so its possible!
Dr. Tapu is a great professor! She loves teaching and is very passionate about organic chemistry. She wants you to do good, and will do hours of study sessions to help you prepare for tests. The class is challenging but not impossible if you practice! Do all the worksheets she uploads (not for grade but great practice) Bonus points are given too!
Took her class online. Must put in the work like any chem class to understand. Great professor! Explains well and does lots of practice in class as well as give lots of practice sheets. Grading based on HW (helps a lot with tests), quizzes, and exams. Also does extra credit with in-class examples. Gives everyone a fair chance to get points.
People are intimidated by Tapu, but she is a great teacher. She genuinely cares about her students and wants us to do well. I will be taking Orgo 2 with her as well. SO MUCH extra credit offered, she offers it nearly every class, TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE, don't be shy. Lowest test grade replaced w/ final test grade. You must work hard &watch videos A!
Dr. Tapu is an incredible professor. THE MOST ACCESSIBLE PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! She answered homework questions at 1 AM for me. So much extra credit offered almost every class period. Drops 2 lowest quiz grades. Quizzes and homework greatly prepared me for exams. She is a little fast at times, but she will explain anything again if you ask.
One of the best at KSU.
I had her for ochem 1 and ochem 2. Reading the textbook is extremely helpful. She has 3 tests and a final, along with homework and quizzes. She's extremely nice if you want to go to her office hours, and she's really nice. Tests can be difficult, but if you read the textbook and go to every class it will help A LOT
I had Dr. Tapu for Ochem 1&2 and was a great professor. Many people are scared of organic but you should not be if you take Tapu. She has bonus point opportunities in class which are vital to getting an A. She might get pressed if you get t wrong but you just gotta get through it. There are 11 quizzes, 2 dropped. HW every week and 3 tests. Take her
Taking Tapu for Ochem 2 without having had her for Ochem 1 will be very difficult than if you had taken her for Ochem 1. That being said, she does provide extra credit opportunities, replaces your lowest test grade with final exam if you got higher on final, and goes through many practice problems in class. Tests can be very difficult so study alot
Dr. Tapu was a great professor. I had her for both Orgo 1 & 2, and I enjoyed the class. The essential things to do, in my opinion, while taking her class, was always to answer bonus questions (no matter how embarrassing it was to get them wrong) and look at the material before coming to class. Take her if you get the chance.
Dr. Tapu really knows what she's talking about. She tends to elaborate on every concept a lot, so understanding isn't really an issue with her however, she does go EXTREMELY fast. I found myself having to rewatch the lectures usually twice, sometimes thrice to understand everything fully. She's super kind and offers bonus. Quizzes + HW every week.
Do not take this class in the summer unless its the only class you are taking. She lectures heavy and lots of hw,quizzes and exams. It was like taking a regular semester class and only having 8 weeks.
I am currently taking Tapu for o chem 1 this semester. I have a 97 in the class. Study 6-10 hours per week. The homework and study guides prepare you well for the tests. She is super nice and caring. The test questions are very similar to the problems done in class, the homework, and the study guides. Lots of extra credit. 8-10 point test curves.
Tapu is an amazing professor. This is a hard class but she makes everything very understandable. You will have to work for your grade, so do all the (ungraded) worksheets and attend the SI sessions. Her office hours are great and two quizzes are dropped.
Dr. Tapu is a great professor. She gives so many resources for extra help like current and past semester lecture recordings, worksheets, practice exams, and answers to all the practice worksheets on d2l. You get so much practice plus SI and office hours. There are no surprises on tests/ quizzes. Her practice exams and past exams on d2l are similar
Amazing professor, lots of practice worksheet and provides sufficient practice material in order to be successful. When the opportunity presents itself, participate to get those bonus points bc 5 bonus points roughly 1% boost to your grade. As long as your willing to work in this class, you can easily get an A, do yourself a favor and take her!
Dr. Tapu is the best professor I have ever had. She gives so much extra credit and opportunities to raise your grade. There are quizzes and HW to support your grade. She may come off as stern at first but she is extremely sweet when you get to know her. TAKE HER !!!!!
Online summer class. Accelerated is an understatement. If you take this class, do not expect to have a job, vacay, social life, and DO NOT TAKE W ANOTHER CLASS!! Too much material/assignments for a summer class. You are memorizing NOT LEARNING. Tapu was out of country most of the time and difficult to reach. May have been better in normal semester.
The tests were very fair! She replaces your lowest test grade with your final which helps a lot. She grades everything fast except for the flipgrids. I would most def take her again.
Organic is a hard subject in general but professor tapu is awesome. you have to study and practice to do well in the class but she gives u everything u need. posts recordings for powerpoints covered in class, worksheets, and gives in class extra credit opportunities. curves tests. SI sessions and study groups are a must. a lot of content. go to class
Tapu is one of the better organic chem professors. She teaches very well but goes extremely fast. If you didn't have her for orgo 1, I would not recommend her for orgo 2. There are quizzes every week as well as homework every week. Tapu SPOILS you with resources, practice sheets, and practice videos to study with.
I've had her for both orgo 1, 2 and 2 lab. She is a great lecture professor. I found her exams fair and there was a lot of room for error, there were no surprises and she tells you what she expects from you. For lab she is a tough grader and takes a long time to grade. She is also hands off and does not micromanage. Take her for lecture if you can!
She is a very thorough lecturer and provides a plethora of extra credit opportunities via participation. She also posts all of her lectures on D2L and supplies a lot of practice (module quizzes, WileyPlus HW, and optional worksheets). One of my favorite professors so far. TAKE HER!
Prof Tapu was the best science prof I've ever had at ksu. She posts the lectures online along with lecture notes and they are so detailed and easy to follow. I didn't do well in OChem 1 so I was prepared to struggle in OChem 2 but the prof made the class as easy as can be. Her quizzes and homework are very straightforward and just like the notes.
Dr. Tapu is not an easy professor.
Dr. Tapu was a great professor for Orgo. On its own, it's a very difficult subject, but the amount of extra resources (recorded lectures, practice worksheets, practice tests, homework questions) makes it easier to grasp. She has bonus points almost every day in class so definitely use them. It's a tough class, but very doable with Tapu.
Worst professor at KSU. Her tests are unnecessarily difficult. Her third exam was basically just a final because she tests you on all previous modules. It is a hard class and you have to study A LOT but her being rude and difficult discourages you so much. Other professors' tests were not that difficult we're not geniuses. My biggest regret!!
As others said, o chem is not an easy class and Tapu doesnt curve or give A's out for exams easily. You will have to do your part and utilize the exam study guides . Getting an A in her class is doable as she posts a lot of practice and lecture videos online. The lowest 2 quizzes gets dropped and lowest exam grade can be replaced with final!
She drops some test and quizzes. She also posts practice tests, recorded lectures, and practice. But there's so much homework that it's hard to find time to watch the lectures. She also gives extra credit for answering questions in class. Its still really hard to pass bcs tests and quizzes are short answer and I wouldn't take her again.
QWEEN!!!! Immediately took her for Orgo 2. Her tests are just like what she teaches and you will not be surprised by anything on the test if you studied. She gets straight to point and offers up to 30 points extra credit. You have to study but don't have to go to class to get a good grade because she posts all her lectures online.
Dr. Tapu is great. There are no surprises in her class if you utilize the resources available. Her quiz questions come from her practice sheets and her test questions come from her practice exams. She offers bonus points if you solve questions on the board. Don't be shy, get those bonus points!
Dr. Tapu is an amazing professor. She knows what she is doing and has made understanding the material easier than most. She actively encourages students to practice and participate by providing multiple questions per class for students to answer, in which those that answer and get it right will get extra credit per question. All material is online
Incredibly dull and monotonous lectures. Even the recorded lectures are hard to understand. Provides lots of opportunities for practice outside of class. My grade greatly improved once I started skipping class and using The Organic Chemistry Tutor to teach myself the lecture materials.
Would give her a 4.5 if I could. My only gripe with her is that sometimes her lectures are so fast, and since the content is difficult, it can be really overwhelming. Otherwise, I love her. She has "recitation" classes twice a week for review on recently learned content. She posts many resources, and the homework is helpful. I recommend her
She really helped understand the material, just make sure you watch her lecture videos and do her practice.
Organic chemistry can be challenging, but Professor Tapu provides great resources like lecture recordings, worksheets, and practice exams. Attending class, using Unstuckstudy, and engaging with the material are key to success in this course.
Took her for both ochem 1 and 2. She's a great and knowledgable professor, but she can go REALLY fast in lecture sometimes and it gets overwhelming bc the content is NOT simple. She will answer all your questions. She gives many opportunities for in class bonus points. Hw, tests, and quizzes are straighforward. I would recommend her
I honestly did not like her. She only cares about the people in the front few rows and does not slow down at all. She is not awful, I just would not take her again personally.
I took Dr. Tapu for the 3362 lab, and she was a very good lecturer! She made difficult concepts easy to understand and did not grade the labs harshly. However, she can be a little passive-aggressive when you ask her a question. But overall, she is a good professor.
Orgo isn't easy, but Dr. Tapu is a very good professor, all lectures available online, lectures are fast but good, and TONS of extra credit for assignments and on exams.
if you want an A, do the problems on the board for extra credit, embarrass yourself, it will help you more than hurt you. You need as much credit as you can get. Watching her lecture videos are your key to success for exams & quizs She didn't curve the ACS this semester and my grade went from an A to a B. That final will end you, just be careful.
Homework is simple, 3 tries, multiple choice. Quiz on a topic around two weeks after the topic is taught; weekly quizzes (alternating in-person and online). Tests are reasonably difficult (for O. Chem). Recommend using provided practice worksheets; very helpful. Has videos of her covering the topics if you want to review. Great and smart teacher.
The lab manuals are straightforward. Pre-lab journal write-ups required. Reports are fairly simple. There are about 7 or 8 labs/lab reports overall, 3 quizzes (pretty easy), and a final exam (study guide and practice exam provided). One thing is that she doesn't do online announcements, so you'll have to pay attention to what she says in class.
Timed, lockdown, no backtracking tests and quizzes. -5% penalty on accessing the relevant textbook chapters through the homework. Video assignments uploaded to a discussion post - some had no repeat req. You had to download and watch through all the previously posted videos so you aren't using the same chemical. Summer - 2 units per week; don't.
I really liked having Dr Tapu for organic chem 2! Organic chemistry is definitely not an easy course, but she makes it manageable. I had her online for the summer and she provides detailed pdf notes to use while watching lecture videos. Her quizzes helped alot when it came to exam prep, and her homework was very helpful for practicing new topics.
Great Professor! She's extremely nice and is willing to talk to you about grades, hw, etc. But she does teach a little fast which makes it hard to understand. Kind of old school teaching. If you work at a slower pace or need things explained more in depth like me then she's not the professor for you.
She definitely has the hardest exams out of the O chem professors, but she is also the best at explaining the concepts. She is also the only professor that made us take the ACS final out of all of the OCHEM professors in Fall25. She does give small extra credit bonuses for participating in class which is nice!
