cool teacher, gives credit for effort, but picks oddest material to put on test
Very easy to understand, is very helpful and very nice
I suck at math and she helped me make it easy! She is by far the best 128 teacher SFA has to offer. Tests are over very simple questions..no trick ones! I definately reccommend her!
very good. Sometimes hard, but she will always help you.
If you have trouble in math, this is a good teacher to take. She actually explains things and will help you until you figure it out.
her tests come straight from the homework and lecture materials! just redo your homework *or look over it* before the tests and you'll do well. her office hours kinda suck but she's very willing to come early or stay late to help her students.
When almost everyone in the class fails the tests then that should reflect upon the teacher but she never saw it that way. Gives good notes and tests are basically from the notes and the homework. Tries to be in office when it is convenient to the student
She is easy, explains things well, but can be boring.
I loved her. There were a couple of group projects, nothing big though. SHe gave quizzes, but then changed the numbers and made them into the test. I can't wait to teach math b/c of her (I'm ec4), and she helped me learn geometry better! Great lady!
She is a very sweet person. She is very helpful and is awesome at explaining the material well! I would take her again for sure!
She is a very good teacher. Really nice and helpful. I took her twice and would love to take her again if she still taught here.
She is a good teacher. She is very sweet and helpful if you ask. She gives great notes and she test over what you do in class. Pay attention and take her notes and you should have no problems.
Fabulous teacher! She was a great asset to the math department. Hopefully when her children get into public school she will be back! She explains things and tests on exactly what she taught. Very helpful!
Very good teacher. She helped me so much in a subject that I am not good at. It is hard though and I recommend that you work hard and go to her office if you need help.... she is always willing to help you with any problems.
Professor Johnson is a great professor. She is always willing to help you and make you understand the material. I am not good in math but I passed this class and I know it is because of her. She does not make you feel dumb but she always ask do you understand. I like her alot and wish she would teach in the Fall and Spring.
She's a GREAT teacher, she explains things really well. Im not good at math and I've made A's on lots of things in this class. I recommend that everyone take her, she's friendly and fair and down to earth and she really makes sure that everyone has a full understanding of the material. There are quizzes but they're pretty easy. TAKE HER SHE'S GREAT
Excellent Professor!!! Explains everything in detail and will help in any way possible! She really cares about her students and it shows!
She's very nice, and always willing to help you during office hours. She gives off the impression that she loves what she does, and it carries over into the classroom. She makes math a lot of fun.
Willing to help if you are willing to work. The tests are always a lot harder than the quizzes are.
very helpful and upbeat. lively and energetic, she loves math, she'll tell you that because she starts writing so fast...she just loves it!! i stop her in the middle of a problem in class and she makes me feel comfortable to know the material and be vocal in class. RECOMMEND HER!!!!
She is great! I would recommend her for any math course she teaches. Its hard to find good math teachers...so definitely take her if you have the chance. She loves teaching math and is ALWAYS there to help you! Im not a math expert...and I pulled a "B" in this class, so I am very happy!
She is willing to help but, when she helps you you are still confused. She always made me feel stupid if I didnt know and her daughter would be in there like I know how to do that... (Not helpful having a good understand and not you) I ended up with a 59.9 in the class but, a F grade because she doesnt rough **** if you ask me! I recommend taki
Take Her
Treats students like elementary students.
She talks really fast and is more in a hurry to get thru the material than teach it. She can be really helpful outside class but her tests are insane. I was even warned by an advisor after I had already enrolled that she was the hardest teacher here at SFA for Math 127. Good Luck if you have her.
Usually most people do worst on the first test in any class because you are getting the feel of the teacher and the tests, but in her class every test was like that. The tests were formatted very differently. Even if you went to SI she wouldn't tell the SI leader what would be on the test so it was a waste. She also didn't give a final exam review. Worst class. I took the class over again with Cook and got an A. I was always a math person and Johnson ruined that for me. I would definately never take her again!
I was the closest person in my class to having an A and I got a B! Her test are really hard and im very good at math so that should tell you something. On our second test the highest grade was a 75 and she didnt curve it. She doesnt beleive in curves which hurts the whole class. I talked to alot of people after grades came out and they failed.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!! she sets you up to succeed. she gives you extra worksheets to help you practice and she tells you what to study for the tests. and she encourages you to come to her for help.
she was wonderful!! always available for help and explained things in every way possible....she made the class passible and i would recommend her to anyone..
I admit, I was a little worried in the beginning, but after taking her she is honestly an amazing professor! She cares so much about her students, and she gives everyone a chance to succeed. Our class was in love with her. She knows what she's doing, and she goes above and beyond to offer everyone extra help. TAKE HER!
Mrs. Johnson worried me a little on the first day becuase she seems a little scatter brained but she stays on topic very well! Her quizes and tests are pretty hard, but she gives a lot of time up to office hours!
Mrs. Johnson is so sweet. She is an amazing teacher. I loved this class to begin with, but her teaching styles and love for her students made it even more enjoyable. She is even more helpful outside of class, during office hours. I definitely recommend taking her.
She is counrty as hell but really sweet! I hate math so it no surprise i got the grade i did, but hey i passed! i would recommend her, especially if you like math!
SHe's really sweet and is always available during her office hours. The tests are HARD, but she'll go over any questions you have. She teaches fast, and i didn't like that. I'm not a fast learner when it comes to math. If you don't do the homework she assigns you will not do that great on quizzes or tests. If u like math and are good at it,take her
Mrs. Johnson is so sweet! She will sit down with you during her office hours until it makes sense. She explains things on a very basic level which is extremely helpful. Her tests and quizes aren't hard if you study.
Mrs. Johnson is the BEST MTH 127 teacher! She is sooo sweet, is always available if you need help, and teaches with great examples. You print off notes and work through examples in class so you should attend. She is great because she takes the time to explain things and you can tell that she really loves teaching and understands how children think
Mrs. Johnson wasn't a bad teacher, just very scatter-brained. She teaches quickly and doesn't really stop long enough to explain, but she's willing to help during her office hours. I pulled a B, but I don't plan on taking one of her classes again.
She is awesome! I wish that she taught Math 128. She is really helpful and explains things multiple times and if you still don't get it then she always makes herself available to help. She lets you practice for exams using old ones. (doesnt use the exact problems on actual test but the extra practice helps)take her!
her class is kind of easy she goes over the note there is a quiz everyday but its easy to pass she will help during office hrs if she shows up
This is biased because I hate math, but I did get an A in math classes with the same material when I had a teacher that explained it slowly. She is a very sweet lady and helps as much as she can during office hours, but if you're like me and cannot learn math when a teacher goes too fast, I do not recommend her.
The sweetest lady in the world. Class material isn't that hard. I took her for 127 and 128. I would highly recommend her. The class material is alot to grasps but her notes and old test/quizzes are very helpful.
Ms. Johnson is AWESOME! She's understanding and she is very easy to talk to. If you're having a hard time in her class, she has no problem with helping you. I would recommend her to anyone. She's great!
Easy class but very boring in my opinion. Tests are fairly easy and she gives A LOT of partial credit. I would take her again.
Ms. Johnson is a great teacher! All of her tests are short answer but she always gives partial credit. She teaches very well and she is willing to answer questions. i would take her again if i had the chance.
She is very helpful and is willing to give you material from previous semesters. Ask questions, PRINT NOTES, and listen in class. As long as you study your notes, you will do fine in her class. She will give partial credit!! I recommend to take her for this course.
Hands down best math prof I've ever had. VERY helpful & doesn't make you feel stupid at all. If you pay attention & ask ?'s you'll do great. Don't be afraid to ask ?'s, she'll slow down if you ask her to. My test grades so far: C, B, A. Getting the hang of it & getting better every time. Keep quizzes to study. Final=comprehensive & replaces lowest
Mrs. Johnson is an AMAZING professor. She is so clear, and she really cares about your grade. Most importantly, she cares about the future students that you will be teaching. I am easily going to make an A in her class, thanks to her awesome notes and clarification! DEF TAKE HER!
Took her for 127 & 128. She is phenomenal! She wants you to succeed. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS DURING CLASS! She goes pretty slow for those of you who are not a fan of math. STUDY YOUR QUIZZES & OLD EXAMS SHE GIVES YOU there is NO reason you can't make an A/B. Only con is she goes so slow throughout the semester she may speed thru in the end
She is fantastic. I took her for both of my maths. TAKE HER. She helps you and is super organized. Easy but not pointless class!!
Ms. Johnson is hands down THE WORST teacher ever!!! She is scatter brained and is really bad at teaching. There is no possible way to pass the class successfully with the way that she teaches. Her pace of teaching is hard to follow and she doesn't give time for students to ask questions. If you want a good math teacher, don't take her.
She is a great teacher! very helpful and sweet. she gives reviews for her tests which most teachers don't. take her if you aren't good at math and will need some help. I am not good at math and ended up with a high B!
Mrs. Johnson was by far my favorite math teacher ever. And I hate math. I failed a math class once, but with Mrs. Johnson's help and a lot of office hours, I not only got an A but actually understood what I learned. It was also a Maymester, so it was *fast*... But I still felt like I was never behind. Thank you for being awesome, Mrs. Johnson!
I was expecting College Algebra to be more challenging than it was. Professor Johnson is a good instructor and gives credit for coming to class. Don't skip class!! Uses a cumulative homeworkquiz (mymathlab) grade as a test grade. Tests are the most challenging part.
MS. Johnson is a great instructor, but since this is a Introduction to math class, then you need to already know how to do Math. There is not a lot of explaining, there is more in class group work. She expects you to learn from your peers. The minute you feel lost, visit her office. And always REMEMBER to do all Book Work and MyMathLab Pearson.
She is a horrible math teacher , does not take time to help you and when she does its with an attitude ! Also she puts material on the exams that we never went over in class. Be sure to check your test after EVERY exam if you take her she rushes through grading and does not like giving your points back , I just said forget it. Always changing hours
She is a GREAT teacher! Sometimes she talks fast, but she is open to questions and is totally willing to help. She is super sweet and very approachable. She gives test reviews, and sometimes the tests can be a little tough but she gives a lot of partial credit. Also, go to the SI's!! I would recommend taking her!!
She is definitely BY FAR THE BEST math127 professor to take. I passed her class the first try and coming from someone who is not a math whiz that says a lot. She genuinely cares about the students and wants you to excel . Be sure to buy the book and go to ALL SI's
Let me tell you that this was my second attempt at 127 since I made a D the first time with a different teacher. I never had problems with math in high school, but this class for education majors was extremely difficult. However, Mrs. Johnson got me through. Always ask for help!
She seems to have a VERY loose understanding of finite math. Also, she assumes you just graduated from high school yesterday, frequently glossing over material "because you learned it in high school." Even worse is that she talks to you like a child.
I loved this professor and I'm taking her for 128 next semester. She comes up with unique ways to teach us and really wants us to succeed. She's such a sweet lady too. You have to work for your grade but if you pay attention and go to SI it'll make it easier.
SHE IS HARD! I took her for college algebra and had to drop it cause there was no way I could pass.(I EVEN HAD A TUTOR) The test reviews dont help, a lot of little things that you dont spend alot of time on in class are on the test, she will tell you that things wont be on the test but then will be. Seems frustrated whenever people ask questions.
I love Algebra. I always did but after taking this professor, my love for this form of math has been ruined. While you can tell she cares about her profession which is always nice, she talks herself in circles and her teaching style made me want to throw my stuff outside of a window 98% of the time. Don't get me wrong, she's a nice lady, is willing to help, and has a passion for teaching math but her style of teaching just was not for me. Her tests are difficult but if you study a lot you should be good. She uses Mymathlab but half the time 25% of the problems on the homework sections are not taught in class. She repeats herself multiple times and treats her students like children in a way which is good for someone that can tolerate that style of teaching and actually has the patience to sit through a lecture like that. My roommate loved her which shows that there are people who will disagree with my opinion however I wasn't that much of a fan when it came to her teaching the class itself. Hope this helps.
Literally the worst math teacher I have had. I have no clue what is going on in class. We move from subject to subject. You spend a day on the assignment and move to the next. There are no in class quizzes or class in assignments. Everything is on my math lab which doesn't do any justice because its online. I did everything to pass and still failed
All of her tests are NOTHING like what we "learn" in class. She goes entirely too fast for half of the class to comprehend & the homework is on another level. You think you know what you're doing in class but you really don't. Tests are hard bc she puts things on test she doesn't talk abt in class or if she does it is mentioned 1 or 2 times
Really guys? Show up to class ready to learn and do your WEEKLY homework it's literally around 30 tops for a week with a quiz. She goes over all the problems even ones only specific to the homework and mentions it. Reviews aren't always helpful, but she mentions this as well (they're old). She stresses you to ask questions and come to class. Easy
I absolutely loved Professor Johnson. I highly recommend attending every class. She provides the notes online - print them off! Tests are not too hard if you do the reviews, there is always homework. She really explains things and takes them to the most basic level so that no matter what problem you get, you can solve it. receptive to questions
This was one of the most difficult college level classes I have taken. The professor expected you to already know the material like you were fresh from high school. I also felt as if the material taught in class did not match the material on the test. Also, she is very vague when explaining subject material, which creates more confusion.
There are 3 test, 1 cumulative final, and homework assignments every week. Mrs Johnson taught with much detail. If you attend class everyday, do the homeworks, and review before every test you can obtain an A!
Very sweet lady, she moves at a fast pace but is easy to understand. Theres 3 test and the final. The mymathlab grade counts as a test grade so keep that in mind while doing homework. The final exam will replace your lowest test grade, so it could count up to 40% of your grade. Highly recommend this professor.
Homework due every class period, more homework online, and 4 exams. When grading homework and tests she never gave commentary, if something was wrong she marks it or puts a question mark without explaining where the flaw is. She writes all of her lectures over the summer so sometimes she has to reteach herself the examples that she is teaching us.
She also assigns loads of homeowrk that are due on Mondays or on a Saturday! And I mean loads. The questions on the tests make no sense and don't really relate to the textbook. She makes you go out of your way to schedule a proctored exam. Make sure to bring your credit card with you for a test fee. I would definitely not recommen her for summers.
She was pretty good. Explained everything as if it was everyone's first time in math. Will answer questions.
I am so frustrated with this class! She grades discussions and video response videos way too strictly! She needs to help students out as far as what she is wanting before she gives feedback on what we did wrong because that's what we're fighting for is a good grade... So far she has been a very poor communicator to me.
I agree about the discussions and how it's wrong to grade so harshly on them. That is so wrong!! She also is not accessible outside of class at all! It takes at least 3 days for her to respond to your emails about simple questions.. The tests are nothing like what is gone over as far as the homeowrk assigmnmets. Bad decision..
Dr Johnson is a very sweet lady, but she makes you work for that grade for sure. There are 4 tests, and you need to go to the SI every time!!!!!! During class we work on book work and Dr. Johnson just walks around, there is no teaching. So you must teach yourself! Also she counts off for spelling, and takes homework grades very seriously as well.
She is a "do it yourself" kind of professor. You are told what class activities to do and you do them on your own with your small group. She will help you if you need it, but does not lecture over anything you do in class. If she does, then write it down because it is very important. Lots of homework (paper and webwork).
If U print out the notes and do the math lab homework u should do fine in the class sometimes explains things weird but is a good professor overall
Dr. Johnson was one of my favorite professors this semester! She is a super sweet lady that cares not only about your grades but you as a person. She is super willing to work with you and help you with anything you need. I would definitely take her again if given the opportunity.
I had Johnson for mth 127. I was so scared to not pass this class but she welcomed me with open arms and shes just the sweetest lady!!! shes a sweetheart and shes pretty funny sometimes. she likes to talk about when she was little a lot and she talks about her family too! if I were to want to take this class again it would definitely be with her
Dr. Johnson is an amazing professor! I had her for 128 and she was always available to help you if you needed it for any reason. I missed her class for a week because I was sick and when I emailed her she gladly set up an appointment with me to get me caught up! Even though she does always assign homework, it's usually only like one problem.
The content can be difficult to grasp, especially when it comes to how to explain things. Johnson was really nice and open, and she was specific about what she wanted to see. You absolutely need the textbook, and I would only recommend renting it if you want to copy all the activities done or feel comfortable just doing them on regular paper.
Mrs. Johnson was very hard. She is unclear about what she specifically wants on tests, and grades way too hard. Takes points off for no reason. Picks favorites and doesnt answer questions clearly. Shes nice, just not the best teacher to have for 127. Expect lots of homework
She was a tough grader and didnt give any extra credit. She was opened to helping with things that I got wrong but didnt feel like she truly cared. I would recommend taking this course in class its very challenging online.
A very tough grader on everything. This was a hybrid class - corona. She is incredibly picky on how she wants work worded by you - it must be extremely detailed, every single step included, and it has to include everything she teaches but cannot be copied from the book. Not super clear about what areas she wants studied, only the sections given.
Professor Johnson LOADED you with papers. I had her class Monday-Friday and you do SO much work!! She never responds to emails. Don't get me wrong, she's a nice lady and all but the work in the class is a bit excessive. I had to go to tutoring A LOT.
Johnson is by far the worst professor I have ever had. This should be a simple and easy intro math class for education majors but instead she takes grading way too seriously and offers absolutely no help. I would recommend taking literally any other professor before you take her.
VERY harsh grader. She likes things done HER way or the highway. I took her for Elementary math & barely passed. I had always gotten 100s in my high school math classes. My class had a private group message and we ALL were confused half the time. I dont really recommend her. Lots of homework and very hard to please.
I ended up having a medical emergency and missed a test. Under NO circumstances can you make up tests, even with proper excuses. After being out of class for 2 weeks (very behind) I came back to take the final and she made it count twice for me. It completely tanked my grade, even though I had made As on all previous tests. Find another teacher.
I loved her class. It was difficult for some but I honestly saw it as an easy A. Professor Johnson is so sweet and willing to help until you understand. You are going to get what you put in so if you don't put a lot of effort into actually trying you probably will not like it. Easy class if you truly care about it.
Professor Johnson is amazing! Not only is she super kind, but she is always willing to help you. She works so hard to accommodate the needs of each of her students and is also very clear about what she is expecting from you in class. With that being said, you do need to put in effort and show up to class. If you need to take 1350, 100% take her!
I love math. Made a 99 in college algebra. This class was incredibly confusing. Ms. Johnson offered help through zoom, but she wasn't helpful. You have to do the exams with a proctor which is super inconvenient since it was an online class. Advisor said 80% of education majors fail this class. Truly outrageous.
This class and professor gave me nightmares. Truly the worst class I have ever had the misortune to take. Had to travel 30 minutes each way to my nearest procor for tests and take time off work for an online course. Grading is absolutely ridiculous.I don't get why some professors make it their goal to make it extremely difficult to pass their class
Hard grader. Do it her way, not the way the textbook shares (though she has no lectures so you have to guess what her way is many times), or you will be marked off even if your answer is fully correct. I felt this class needed lectures instead of just a textbook.
I failed algebra, and took it again with her. It was like night and day. This woman is the most accessible, understanding, kind woman on the planet. She could teach a monkey how to do exponential functions. If you come to class, pay attention, ask questions, and do the homework, you'll be fine.
There is no lecture for this class, and you are expected to know how to do the work the way she wants it done or else it will always be wrong when you submit your answers for homework or exams. She doesn't really clarify where you went wrong either. If you can avoid taking her class online, DO IT! If you struggle with math, don't take her class.
All the homework is done online online and the software will teach you all of the material that you need help with. The system provides you with over 100 math problems to do every week.
Class was very test heavy with 4 test and a homework grade. Print the notes out and go to class. She is very good at lecturing however her tests are very hard and you will not pass if you don't study. She gives half credit if you show your work on the exams.
Grading was very tough. Responses for a single math question were usually a page long of writing and if you were not specific enough in your words, you wrote it all for nothing. Lots of textbook use for homework which was difficult with little explanation. I found her exaggeration in her voice while teaching overstimulating.
She is very test heavy, and the lecture is all notes. She is very understanding, and will work with you if you're confused. However, you need to print out your notes before class every single day and come to class not tired or you will get lost. She does try and use physical objects to help you understand topics that can be confusing.
I was doing good when it was review but the amount of homework necessary made this class impossible to pass because it was to hard to learn all those concepts on my own (since she didn't teach them all) you might as well take it online there's too much material to learn and perfect and not enough review for them.
This professor is a decent lecturer, she really urges participation. She grades very strictly on tests(Which are about 21 questions, none multiple choice), though she does do half credit for showing your work! Her home-workload is painful, around 30-60 questions a week, all computer automated with a aggravating penalty system for ANY mistake.
She does not explain anything. She will do something we didn't even learn yet on the notes and not explain to you what she is doing to solve the problem. Tests were only 15 questions so if you miss too many you fail. ALEX was a pain to do and SO time consuming. I do not recommend taking her unless you already know A LOT of algebra.
Professor Johnson has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class can work well. The textbook is heavily used, so studying with tools like Unstuck study alongside the material is helpful. Grading can be tough, so staying on top of assignments is key.
I liked her, but her voice gave me a headache tbh. I just did not really like her teaching style and felt like the class moved slow. She is a great teacher in that she offers lots of help and extra support. She will give out test reviews that are very similar to the test. Make sure to do those and understand them and you'll be fine.
