I really enjoyed this class. I typically do not like online classes because they tend to contain a lot of busy work. This class was not like that at all. Criminal justice is not my major, however, I learned a lot from this class and will probably take more after this class. The content was interesting and most of the work was real life scenarios.
Good course
The class was a lot of work, but never time consuming. If you read the required text, you should be able to pass with an A.
Professor Lessard was a pleasure to have.
It was ok at best, it seriously lacked organization and was very confusing for myself and other students. But the case studies were great applying theory to the real world.
She was always there when i had questions.
Not enough feedback. Issues submitting work
Professor Lessard showed during this class that she is not read to teach at the college level. Her lax and carefree attitude was contagious. For class she would have us read the power points word-for-word out loud. She rarely would elaborate or teach further. when we would review with games, she would regularly show that she did not understand.
Professor Lessard was very clear and concise on her expectations and made what I anticipated to be a difficult course / assignment much simpler than I thought! I was dreading this course (as it isn't my forte) but she made is understandable and very possible to accomplish!
Overall a very nice teacher that understands and will help you if you just ask. If you are an introvert like me, or just don't want to speak to your peers, let her know and she will understand and be lenient on what to do.
Hard class, but needed it for my major to graduate.
Great teacher, very understanding.
You write paper and go over all class content in the class so it is best to show up. Test are not given which is great but at the end you will have an exam but you get to use your study guide on it
Very good teacher made the class very enjoyable
This professor isn't the hardest and not the most organized, but overall she cares about her students
Very fun class, always entertaining learning in that class
She's a great Professor and very good at what she does.
Ms. Lessard is a wonderful professor and adviser at PSC!
The majority of the assignments was to help toward our research proposal. I think the research proposal was a good idea and I really enjoyed expressing my thoughts on the topic I chose. It was difficult for me because I learn better when I am sitting in front of a professor. Learning the material through a computer was a challenge but worked out.
Very good teacher
Over all I enjoyed this class very much. It was a wonderful experience for my first online class. The work load was not as bad as I expected, and thought me great time management. However I would never recommend fill in the blank for o line courses due to there difficulties of what answers would be needed.
Very good professor. The weekly discussions force you to read the book, which is always good with taking an online course. There are a lot of other writinf assignments though. Sometimes it can be hard to keep up with everything.
Overall great professor, laid-back teaching style but still clear and understanding material. She works with students via email and person very well. Very understand if things come up. Overall i will highly recommend her as a professor at PSC. I will be taking her online and in person classes again.
This professor is one of the best professors I have ever taken. She is always there to help you if you need it. I would definitely recommend other students to take her class!!!
Professor Lessard was a challenging professor, which I did not think was a bad thing. I can tell she is passionate and knowledgeable of the criteria she teaches. I think she can be defined as the type of professor that truly wants her students to learn and for that, I would recommend Professor Lessard to other college students.
I have taken the of this professors online classes. The workload was not an extraordinary amount, and assignments were relevant to the topic(not just busy work). My only complaint is that each week the assignments are not made available until Sunday, and everything is due by Monday, Tuesday, then Wednesday. The assignments should be available soon
The class is clear on what needs to be done, teacher grades fairly and is helpful. This class is an Easy A if you do what needs to be done and read the assigned work.
Reading is required, you will need to buy the book or at least rent it in order to do the assignments and discussion questions. Overall great class.
You must read the textbook to be successful in this class.
This class taught me a lot about how women became involved in the legal field. It touches on the obstacles they faced and how they overcame them. The professor is really good at getting back to you and she does not grade very hard. I hate online classes, but this was the best online class I have taken.
Great professor, even better of a listener.
Awesome
Overall Great lecture, worksheets go right along with test. Along as you pay attention and do the fill in notes its an easy A. Professor engages with the class, end of lecture questions help with learning.
Shes cool I guess
Make sure to keep on top of things, and if need extra help, simply just ask. She doesn't bite, and is willing to help in any way that she can, is very respectable and is a good recommended teacher to have.
She seems to really care. Really enjoyed the class. Enjoyed having a different perspective, meaning her being from Texas, and her personal stories and things she had been through and seen.
This class is perfect the way that it is. The professor educates the class in a sufficient manner.
Professor Lessard's class was thoroughly put together outlining each chapter for victimology. The worksheets she has for the lectures and chapter powerpoints, correspond well pursuant to the tests and small class participation.
She provides all materials needed to complete this course successfully. I enjoyed the course.
I enjoyed this course because it provided me with a fresh perspective. Usually CJ classes deal with offenders, but this course was geared toward victims. The new subject was refreshing.
I really enjoyed the class and have no comment on what should be done differently. Being that this semester was my last, having this class really relieved some stress. This is because it was basically an at your own pace class, aside from the chapter outlines. I was able to focus on the outlines and actually accrue the information. Great class!

GOOD TEACHER
I have enjoyed taking Professor Lessard's courses this past semester and this spring. There is a lot of work, but all of it is beneficial and worth learning about. I really liked that she spaced out each part of the research paper, and that each section was due each week. It helped me a lot!
Though the work must be thorough and the paper required to be written is exceptionally long I also didn't find it to be excessive once I began writing. She grades fairly and offers extra credit where applicable. The course outline is perfectly clear from day one via the syllabus. Get ready to research and cite, a lot! STAY AHEAD of the schedule!
Professor is very understanding and helps whenever needed.
Professor is organized and available during office hours. Class is very interesting and interactive.
The class seemed stressful since it was graded upon three or four things. Overall though it wasnt too bad.
Packback wasnt too bad, but I believe that it wouldve done better for an online class rather than an in class.
This professor is one of the best professors Ive ever had. I would definitely recommend everyone in CJ to take her classes.
In-depth, thought-provoking lectures using visual presentations and relating the material to personal stories made this class very enjoyable for me.
Danielle is awesome!
This class is a more difficult class; however, the professor is nice and easily accessible
Organized online layout with easy to find weekly assignments.
In depth thought provoking lectures with personal and every day life examples relating to the material made this class enjoyable.
Enjoyed the class very much with the discussion questions.
This class really made sure you read your chapters in depth and very beneficial for my future classes.
Fantastic course with clear and realistic expectations especially for a 400 level course.
No hard feelings but teaching just isn't your forte. Why did we have a book? Outlines are stupid, you don't learning anything. Our work does not reflect our grade correctly. Do you just pick who gets what grade? Favorites? Ones you dislike? Here is a thought, maybe you could actually teach the class and make is yours. It's not Heidi's anymore!
I highly enjoyed this class, and everything i learned in this class was beneficial for my future career.
Studying is key
Needs better study guides but other than that I didnt have a problem. Very nice lady.
Honestly, she is all over the place. She is jumping from one thing to another, it's hard to keep up. We have gave her ways to help us (since we did poorly on our first test) and she does not use them. She just lectures and tells us personal experiences, which does not help. Shes easily gets off topic.
Needs better study guides but other than that the class was very enjoyable.
She asked us previously what she could do to change and she didnt really take it into consideration. The biggest thing is she doesnt put powerpoints on the board so I can take notes. Its impossible to be taught when she just reads out of her book
Study is key
Really nice and tries to connect with outs through conversation.
Tries best to make sure we do good on test, always asks for feedback so it shows she really cares and makes jokes sometimes to make us laugh
Shes the best!
Professor Lessard, is straight up. Shes very open and honest and doesnt beat around the bush, which I like! I think we test on too many chapters at once. If we cut it into 3chapters, I think the class would perform better.
She knows what she is talking about and explains it in a clear and easily understandable way. Very accommodating to any situation.
This professor has done a pretty good job in my opinion. When I had questions she would answer them in a way that I would understand. I feel like for this professor to be top A, I would suggest more understandable examples on how to do something.
great chill teacher
She is a good instructor just with she could teach more clearly
may be improving on the teaching side
I had trouble with the first test because of lack of communication between our class as a whole and this professor. However, I believe she is a good professor who tries her best to help our class understand the course context and find new and improved ways of learning.
She tries to make sure that you get all of the info of the material so you can ace tests.
If your answer is close enough to whatever the answer is, shell give you some points back.
Professor Lessard is a good instructor. She shows up and tries her best. Needs improvement on communication with the students.
she does a great job on keeping up on ecampus
Really easy to keep up with. You use your book a good bit so have it. Its a really good and simple class, if you pay attention
I dont do the worksheets but a lot of people tend to like them. I personally just like that the tests are actually on the material we go over in class not directly from the book.
The first test was hard and I wasnt too sure of what to study but the second was a lot better and the videos we watched felt true to the course.
A lot of Information at once but gives good Examples and scenarios to help describe the topic.
I really enjoy CJ-101 as it feels a lot like a law school-type class. The idea of law school always intrigued me . I think you taught just fine Lessard, I just straight up forgot to study for that first test or I would have done better on it.
CJ-206 is one of my favorite classes. I find learning the way correctional officers work, and learning what all goes down in correctional institutions to be EXTREMELY interesting. The class is fairly easy to me.
CJ-293b is by far, my absolute favorite class Ive had in college so far. Its been so much fun learning about other cultures, police bias, unintentional bias, racism and even more! I think you teach this class VERY well, Lessard.
Danielle is a great professor who has a great background and experience with what she is teaching. She keeps her class interesting and fun. She has a great personality and I could not ask for a better teacher
Professor Lessard leads by example. She is very knowledgeable about the course material, and she pushes students outside of their comfort zones. She is approachable and and maintains the highest principles of, honesty, integrity, and candidness. She sets the mark, and is truly inspirational. Thanks professor Lessard, you are a great role model!
Fantastic teacher very fun and entertaining. Fill in the blank is god awful though
Liked the powerpoints, study guide, and worksheets.
Not a bad teacher, mostly lecture
I really enjoy this class.
good teacher, fun class
Would benefit from more in-depth feedback on assignments to prevent repetitive mistakes and grade reductions. Wish the examples posted for the proposal assignments were a little more clear on what was needed to successfully complete them.
i really liked her and this class, i think shes amazing :)
i really like the powerpoints i think they helped alot :)
i really enjoyed taking this class. the class discussions are always interesting :)
Make great changes to the course, overall great class
Class is getting better and easier
Great teacher. Needs to stop worrying about the idiots who want bottle-fed.
I am usually a straight A student however I am currently failing her course while peers around me that are usually C students are surpassing me by a mile with their grades. It is unfair and she is no help when it comes to specifying grades or helping improve with poor grades.
As a freshman Professor Lessard has made me want to drop out and change schools and majors.
Very good professor. Open to discussion and honest. Tries her best for her students and is open to listen to constructive criticism. Very open to working with students, especially ideas to help them do better.
Shes an ok professor. A little hard to learn from due to not being super specific sometimes
One day something will be right and then the next day it will be wrong. Not very clear on what she wants from assignments
CJ 401 has been my first class with Ms. Lessard. I believe she fits in well with the other CJ professors at Potomac State. Ms. Samuels and Mr. Goff were always willing to go above and beyond for their students and Ms. Lessard is no different. She has been very accessible outside of class, and she has always been helpful when I was struggling
If you miss class you will not pass this class. There is a paper due every time your class meets.
More on hands approach would be great
Great professor who always is there when you have extra questions or needs extra help. Goes the extra step to make sure we are prepared for the exams by making a study guide. There are also study guides online to help during the lectures to make productive notes. Would take her as a professor again because I feel Like Im learning in this course.
I like how she uses real like situations to help us understand during the lecture and makes it easy as possible to relate to the material.
Shes a good teacher
My advisor and professor for two classes. She is always quick to answer and very helpful in my experience. Class is very clear and she posts all powerpoints on ecampus. She knows what shes saying due to personal experience.
Lessard seems like a newer teacher. Over time she will fine tune her lessons and become more efficient.
Not too bad
It's good
Class is very interesting every day. Like the real world situations we discuss in class.
Amazing professor!
Your good at what you do keep it up
Participate in class discussions and study the information given and you will do good!
It has been an interesting course. When I needed assistance, Professor Lessard was available.
Good class. Lots of writing.
Be a little more organized
Great teacher great class
She keeps you on task and wants you to pass
Needs clearer grading criteria
As much as I hate when teachers call on me, I think thats what youll have to do with everyone of your classes in order to get everyone engaged.
Danielle was very helpful in and out of class. She was always willing to give a helping hand if you were lagging behind in class or on classwork or if you don't understand the course materials.
Mrs. Lessard has really busted her butt and taught a great course I look forward to more classes with her. She treated us like a family and made us comfortable when it came time to speak.
Her class was ok, communication outside of class was just terrible. Don't miss anything, chances are you'll never make it up.
Communicates what is expected clearly and straightforwardly and allows enough time for work to be delivered, so if you work full-time and want to take online classes, this instructor is amazing at giving enough time for what needs to be done. This is an online class experience, and I would take more classes with this instructor!
