The class is easy, but this lady is crazy!
She knows her stuff. Will do anything to help you out. VERY energetic
kinda crazy but interesting. won't fall asleep. you'll learn a lot
VERY nice, energetic, awesome lady! but you do have to study to do well
one crazy lady, not a bad class though
very fun, easy if you pay attention and study, cool lady
soooooo easy study night before, get an A, only one project and it only takes an hour.
crazy lady without a doubt, this is her easiest class though
Kinda hard. Read and study for tests and you will be fine. She's crazy but very enthusiastic about nutrition!
Great woman, leaves holes in powerpoint slides, tests easy if you study
Don't take this stupid class if you are an audio learner. She's really hyper and excited about nutrition, but she doesn't teach what's on the test. You have to read everything in the book to pass.
This is her easiest class. I had her for 280 and did horrible. I got an A in this class. There are only 2 tests which are very easy if you study the night before. There are tons of projects worth the same amount as the tests and they are SOO easy.
Very excitable, tries to make it interesting. Definately read and study for tests and you'll be fine.
very friendly lady, and very energetic and excited about nutrition. tests are okay, i studied the night before and got B's...only one project and it's really easy. almost everyone got an A+ on the project.
I love her. She is so excited about what she does! Class can drag on a little, but you feel bad being bored because she really wants you to care too. There isn't a lot of work, you just need to come to class, read the book and you're fine. Diet project is easy. I would recommend her!
3 tests, a final, 1 project. tests are hard but study guide is great, don't wait til the night before to study, project is easy DON'T LOSE YOUR PASSCODE. can't say enough good things about torisky, so enthusiastic, will go completely out of her way to help students, TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING
This class is an absolute joke. If you have any concept of what a carb protein or fat is you can get a B with minimal work. If you study a little more than average you can score an A. take this class
Dynamic teacher. Tells a lot of stories relating to topics at hand. A "B" is definitely possible but you have to study a little harder to get an "A". Very good and knowledgeable prof.
Torisky is amazing. Her class is not difficult if you go and take notes. She is very clear in her lectures and really wants you to learn. 3 tests, a final, and a project that is really easy.
Dr. Torisky is excellent. I highly recommend her! She is full of energy and is really passionate about nutrition, which makes it interesting for the class. Tests aren't too bad, all multiple choice. You will enjoy this class if you take it with her.
Class can be extremely boring, but she is such an enthusiastic, helpful woman that you can't help but love her! If you put forth a somewhat decent amount of effort, you will get an A:)
Very nice teacher with a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge. 4 Tests- Study the notes and chapter, not too bad. 1 easy diet analysis project<-- her layout is very nice and not stressful. Lots of opportunity for easy points. Take her for 280.
Great professor! Is very knowledgeable and friendly. You definitely need to study for the tests, but overall this is a really interesting, fun course.
I looveee her! Can be a bit random, but her tests are not horrible. Diet project = A for everyone, which helps your grade a lot. She's also really nice outside of class, and is willing to help you with any questions. You won't be dissapointed!
GREAT PROFESSOR...TAKE HER..EASY CLASSS...TESTS R MULTIPLE CHOICE...SHE'S REALLY NICE BUT SOMETIMES RANDOM..BUT OVERALL A EASY CLASS
Oh D.T...she gets very side tracked, never finishes lectures, never actually answers questions she tends to dance around them. She's a nice lady though
super easy. take her.
Take her! especially if you are a dietetics major, she talks a lot from personal experience which is really great when learning about the field. Really interesting and helpful. I would recommend reading the book when studying for tests.
this lady is all over the place during lecture. pointless. i hated going to class even though i think nutrtion is interesting. everything i learned was straight out of the book. pointless pointless lectures- such a waste of my time.
She seemed really nice but she went off on tangents that had nothing to do with the lecture. Its really boring but if you study for the tests its not hard to pull atleast a B in the class. The final was really difficult.
DT is awesome! as long as you go to class and participate and read you'll be fine. Not a class for the lazy. It's impossible to get an F on the project and she's really positive!!
Really easy to get an A. Lectures are incredibly boring because she goes off topic all the time but she is really enthusiastic about nutrition. You can also only have 3 absences. Just read the book before the exam and you will get an A.
DT is a very nice person, but her class is agonizing. She cannot stay on topic at all and she tends to ramble. She also kept all the lights off, so it was too easy to sleep through class. The tests were very easy. The diet analysis project was easy. Definite easy A for the class.
DT is the nicest professor out. She truly cares about her students and wants you to succeed. She is very forgiving about misplaced/late assignments and loves the students to get involved. THAT BEING SAID, she's very spastic. She tends to go off subject at the drop of a hat and she says crazy things. Class is boring and you HAVE to be there. Easy A.
NUTR 363: DT is one-of-a-kind. class is mandatory on lab days; lectures are posted online. Labs are fun!! she's bad at returning grades on time though especially if you do things electronically. Lots of peer grading. Lab reports, peer evaluations, and self evaluations 435/500 available points. Final's cumulative but easy just re-watch all the lects
VERY EASY A! Class is a complete joke. No textbook, 2 tests. You literally don't have to do anything. She really cares but going to class is beyond pointless. I surfed the internet every lecture and didn't pay attention to a word she said; skimmed the notes the night before and got an 100 on the last test. Worst part of class is being there FREE A
Torisky is the most unorganized professor I have ever had. She has a very hard time staying on track and this results in her not covering the majority of information that is on the test. She is very scattered and hard to follow. With that being said it is possible to get a good grade in this class if you take the time to read the textbook.
Lectures are long and boring. Hardly anything from the lectures are on the test, if you don't read the book and outline every chapter in detail you will not pass. She goes off on tangents all the time. The material isn't too difficult though, so its really not too much to do in order to get at least a B.
Dr. Torisky is an amazing woman. She has so much passion for what she teaches and it shows. Quirky and hilarious. Sweet woman who's always willing to help. Test material is all from powerpoint. Not many assignments. Easy class.
Torisky is very passionate about what she teaches & really cares about her students. Class got pretty boring at times but is an easy A if you put in the work. 4 tests & a nutrition project are all the grades for this class. Final is just the 4th test. Tests come from powerpoints, textbook and random things she says in lectures. Overall decent class
Super nice, and really sweet. Very passionate about her subject, and is always willing to help out. However, lectures are long and she tends to get sidetracked and go off topic. Tests aren't too bad and are all multiple choice. To do well, though, you need to read the textbook. Takes attendance every class.
shes super sweet! as long as you do the book readings and know the powerpoints, tests are pretty easy! an easy A if you study and do the work
Dr. T is AMAZING! She looks like she drinks 6 cups of coffee before class but it makes the whole room have more energy. Her test remind me of test you would see a 5th grader have. Study the powerpoints and watch the videos she recommends and show up to class on occasion and you will pass with flying colors.
Dr. T is so caring and a lovely woman, if you have any conflicts with her class or getting work done she will work with you (as long as they are valid). Her tests are easy but she pulls specific info from the textbook so make sure you read it! Her diet project is easy too, bring it to her before it's due and she will tell you anything to fix
Dr. Torisky is the most spastic professor ever. She has mandatory attendance and her lectures are very long and dry. She is accessible outside of class but not overly helpful. Test questions come straight from the notes or textbook. As long as you look over the powerpoints/textbook the night before it's an easy A.
i love DT!!!!! her class is awesome and so easy and she is the best professor i had all semester!!!! she is so funny and so caring about nutrition it is awesome! im an idls major but having her as a professor made me consider changing my major. TAKE HER CLASS
She is a extremely nice and goofy professor however you have to teach yourself the material. She goes off topic every day in lecture. You don't need to go to class in order to get a good grade. If you just study her notes for the test you WILL fail her tests. You need to study EVERYTHING in order to get at least a B.
I really hated Dr. Ts class, the way she taught it made it so absolutely boring and it was honestly painful to have to sit through lectures. she seems like a sweet lady but shes not a very good professor. be ready to teach yourself all the information and even then youll probably end up with a B.
Dt's lectures were so boring. I never would've come to class if attendance wasn't mandatory. Her tests are not easy. I memorized the powerpoint and got a 75 on the test. DO not take this with her. She went on a rant about corn flakes for 45 minutes one class.
Avoid this class if you can. Tests are extremely hard. I studied so much for this class and i barely have a B in it. She goes off topic in every lecture. Other than that she is an extremely nice professor. she makes it hard to absolutely hate the class bc she has such a nice soul.
She's a super kindhearted person but this has been the most boring class I've ever taken. She goes on SO many weird tangents and is really anal about how nutrient reports are written so she takes the whole class talking about the rubric. It's not hard to get a B as long as you come to class and read the book. Tests are hard but nothing crazy
Dr. Torisky is a really sweet lady but a boring professor. Her lectures are hard to pay attention to because she goes off on tangents but if you manage to pay attention she does know what she is talking about. Her tests getting harder as the semester goes on but if you read the textbook, show up, and look at the slides you'll do fine.
Super sweet. Very passionate. Posts slides and can go off on tangents, but overall easy class. Just look over slides, skim textbook, and make notes in class A. 1 major project that has several parts and due dates, only takes 15-30mins before class. Loves to talk to students GO ASK HER ANYTHING!
This class was harder than it should have been. The class is really boring and she takes attendance. You have to teach yourself for this class by reading the textbook and the powerpoints that she goes through is so boring and useless. If you can take another professor for this class because her tests are specific and the grades harshly.
You basically don't have to ever go to class because the tests are straight from the textbook readings so be prepared to read for every single test. The only reason you should go to every class is for attendance but pretty much she is the most boring lecture class i have ever been in. You get a study tip sheet to help guide the readings for tests.
DT is one of the funniest professors I've ever had. She often goes on tangents about random subjects and never makes sense, but it is funny to witness. That being said, you have to read in order to know all the information. The tests are extremely easy; but without reading the textbook you won't do good.
Danielle is brilliant and an amazing person. Unfortunately she doesn't teach a class very well. I really appreciate her as a person and a role model but I struggled way too much for this class.
DT is an extremely sweet lady but I don't recommend her for this class. The material is not very difficult but I continually find myself blindsided by her exams because they far off of what we talk about during class. Lectures are hard to sit through because I usually can't follow what she's talking about. The final exam isn't cumulative though!
I really enjoyed Dr. Torisky as a person and would love to enjoy this class more. However, I find this class to be difficult. Definitely questions on each exam that will trip you up. A lot of things to remember for each exam as well. You MUST buy the textbook (need it for a project) and attendance is taken into consideration.
The class was a bit harder than I had expected. You use the textbook and attendance is accounted for. Overall, she was a good professor with lots of interesting stories to tell. Super sweet too. No minus grades, which is a plus. She has her ups and downs, but I would recommend her if you are willing to work for an A!
1. DT cares for her students HOWEVER, 2. She NEVER gave clear instructions on group projects & assignments, marked off for grammar & spacing errors (grammar police) 3. Her exams are unfair and hard, told useless stories in class NEVER got through ppts, expected us to read textbook word for word, loves to test off of charts & makes her own test q's
She is a very caring professor but her lectures are so hard to pay attention to! Shouldve honestly been an easy A, but her lectures are boring and tangent-y. Listen because some of her test questions are from a random fact she said in class, but just read the text book and youll be fine. I didnt study until the night before and got out with a B+
She's passionate in her teaching and a great person to talk to outside of class. But with the semester project, she's unclear. It's really important to go to class because there will be random facts that can show up on the tests. There are powerpoints but it doesn't have everything on them. Read the online book before class or you'll get lost.
Dr. T is an ANGEL! She is the sweetest woman ever, and she is so genuine and caring. I am taking this class via zoom rn. She is always open to feedback and wants to serve YOU. The exams are common sense for most people. The assignments are super straight forward. Perhaps not the most exciting class but she is so sweet so it's hard to even care.
what a sweetie pie <3 love this woman. despite facing technological issues, she responds very quickly and really tries her best. easy class, u can pass!!! she is just so kind and actually cares if you are having issues w anything. if u need to take this course for nursing, i recommend her
Very nice lady but horrible about giving us material. Her exams are half from textbook and half from her lectures, however she would give us her lectures slides and recordings just days before the exam. We would be waiting 2-3 weeks for only 2 chapters. The project is very easy, however she will give you the instructions the day before its due.
Dr. T is one of the kindest professors Ive had at JMU and really makes an effort to connect with her students. Shes super understanding and wants to see you succeed. with that being said, her tests were kinda all over the place and the class itself felt a little disorganized. lots of resources which made it hard to study and feel prepared
Dr. T is an amazing professor as she really cares about her students, and wants you to do well. Although the lectures can be boring, the tests, quizzes and assignments are all really easy. On test days we have 36 our window to take it with 2 total hours for the exams, and all quizzes have unlimited attempts. Take this class if you have the chance.
Easiest class I have ever taken at JMU. Skipped most classes and finished with a A. The grade is a project that has 3 parts to it and then tests. Very easy class if you need to take this course take this professor.
I love Dr. Torisky. The course is set up really well and she is amazing about taking feedback from students. There are three big projects but they're not hard and can be super fun. Exams were online and she opens them for a long time which was nice with a busy schedule.
She's a nice lady. She is very bubbly and at times panicky. Just do not talk about the textbook (Wiley Plus) with her. She's very passionate about it and will talk about it forever. She's not the quickest at answering emails. Her lectures were good and her clicker questions mirrored the quiz and exam questions. Overall she's not bad for NUTR 280.
Dr. T is very... she has a lot of...personality. I personally think it is an easy A but the second test everyone failed. It was super hard for no reason. Third exam and final were online, and first exam was easy. Project is easy but you need to do well on tests because that middle test destroyed my grade and got a borderline A with an 89.
Very kind and cares a lot, but does not always use the most sensitive language when discussing difficult topics. Exams overall are not difficult, but we did have one that was unreasonably challenging. Attendance is mandatory, but she provides opportunities for points if you have to miss class a few times.
Avoid at all costs. I'm surprised she has a 4/5. She talks so much and her lectures don't make any sense. Nothing in this class makes sense. DO NOT TAKEEEE!!!!
Absolute gem of a woman. Gave SO much extra points, tests were not hard, she's so sweet and really wants people to participate and enjoy the class and actually learn. Easy easy class and she's accessible outside of class sometimes just gotta double email her!
dr torisky was so so nice (just a cute old lady), but she talks ALOT and gets off topic ALOT in class. she goes on rants that aren't necessarily about the class, but she was really nice and can tell she cares about her students.
DT is such a nice lady who only wants the best for her students. I had to study a lot for her tests but because she didn't do a great job explaining the material. She seems to get side tracked veryyy easily which often leads to not having time to finish lectures. If you ask questions and study hard you'll be fine. She is overall very nice
DT is a very caring professor. The material is not too difficult, but she gets sidetracked during lecture. Attendance is mandatory, but there are a lot of makeup assignments. You need to teach yourself most of the material since she gets distracted. Tests are not too difficult, but definitely need to study for them. She is very understanding.
My favorite professor so far at JMU!! She is so sweet, and understanding. I love this professor's positivity and happy mindset, makes me continue coming to class! Class materials are all posted on Canvas, and she teaches in a organized informative way.
DT is so spunky and her class is entertaining. She is so so sweet and I highly recommend, she is very chill. The work is simple if you follow the rubrics and exams are easy to ace if you do some studying.
very friendly, she's genuinely sweet. can get sidetracked, but the info isn't that hard to follow.
You have to purchase WileyPlus with her course which is like $70. She's really sweet but she goes off topic and her exams are kinda hard so you do have to study. We have a 3 part project that is easy and gets you points. Her "A" is also anything above a 89.5 which is nice. Attendance is part of the grade book so you do have to go.
DT is a super sweet lady who cares about her students. The only downside to her class is that her lectures are very hard to follow since she gets very off-topic. Attendance is mandatory but she gives a lot of assignments to help you get the points from the days you missed back.
She is LITERALLY the BEST teacher at JMU I have had. Such a sweet lady, and loves to crack a good joke. The lectures were a little boring, but the info was not too hard, and the exams were not too hard either—lots of extra points you can receive. I love having her as my teacher.
By far my favorite professor at JMU. DT is so sweet and clearly cares a lot about both the class and students. Overall class is very easy, and not super exam dependent. You do get grades for attendance, but you can do makeup assignments to get credit for classes missed. Exams are fairly easy even if you don't pay attention in lectures.
Her class was super easy, not too much work. Exams were not too hard either.
DT was very funny and genuinely loves to teach. Her lectures could get boring, and she could ramble sometimes, but she is just the sweetest. The class isn't too hard. The worst exam was the final exam on vitamins and minerals, but all the others weren't too bad if you paid attention and did the smartbook.
DT is an amazing prof! She rambles a lot but wants the best for her students and wants to ensure they know when/what assignments are due and stay up to date on any extra credit discussion boards. Tests are relatively easy, just do the smartbook questions and skill builder quizzes.
She reads off the slides but requires attendance. Every assignment and quiz is through the textbook and she takes questions out of the textbook for exams, whether she went over it or not. Lectures are pretty much useless and the textbook is where all the important info is. Wouldn't recommend.
She really cares about her students success. Class is just lecture slides, and exams are 50 mc. It's a easy class to take and a great prof. I would recommend her. If you have a question about something, she will drop everything to help you. I really liked her class. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but there are participation points
Sweet lady, however repeats the same things over and over again. Reads somewhat from the slides but whatever she goes over in class (confusing for the most part because she gets extremely sidetrack), isn't even on the test. The tests are not easy and are focused on very specific information/ small details. Would not recommend.
Torisky is a super sweet lady and really cares about her students. With this said, her lectures don't really matter. Most of the stuff she covers is not on tests. If you do the textbook practice and skill builder quizzes it is an easy A. Her attendance is somewhat mandatory, as you need 100 points then you don't have to go anymore.
She is such a sweet lady and loves to joke around with students!! Her class was kind of boring but she definitely tried to make it engaging. She gives extra credit off of discussion boards which are so easy so do them! STUDY. Dont think that this class is easy because it is nutrition...
Dr. Torisky is so nice. Genuinely don't listen to the bad reviews on her she is the sweetest and she tries to engage with the class. Her tests aren't hard just study the class material and you can do good. She doesn't require a lot and you can make up attendance points with discussion posts.
Dr. Torisky is the sweetest professor ever. Her lectures can be long, but she gives a large cushion for attendance and the assignments are easy. You do need to study for the exams but they are not hard. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed in her class. I highly recommend!
