This class was very fun for me, especially with a subject i was not interested in. She makes the lectures lively with her jokes...the tests are pretty easy since she lets you bring a notecard and she reviews everything on the test the day before. As long as you attend class you should get a good grade.
She Is A very interactive, Fun, and has alot of energy. She is always eather makeing us laugh or laughing at herself.
Had her for my geol lab. She's very friendly and nice and very helful to her students. I enjoyed going to her class even though it was very early in the morning.
this girl has a whole lot of energy, the tests are challenging, cool lecture.... that's about it.
This is the best teacher at Solano!!! Solano Community College does not deserve a teacher this great!!! Lectures are fun and interesting, tests are a bit on the difficult side, great classroom atmosphere, I've never learned more from a teacher in my life!
Truth be told!!! She is way to passionate about the subject -- and wants you to be as well. Too much information to absorb. She's cute, funny & energetic but -- test are tricky. She would do well to understand her class is not the only one you are taking. Scheduled required field trip during school hours jeopordizing other classes. Think twice
She is so so very enthusastic about her work! She really wants you to understand but is not easy. She knows her subject and expects you to do the same. My only real complaint: she moves quick in lectures somtimes from excitment/lack of time. We covered a lot of matrial (fast), but it was intresting & she is a good teacher. I would take her again.
Wonderful Teacher. Fun, clear, cute, interesting. Her super energy and enthusiasum in the subject really helps you understand and learn. Feild trip rocked too.

Wonderful professor, knows her stuff. The tests are hard, but you get to drop one. Attendance is not mandatory, but there's stuff on the test that's not in the book. She is very energetic, which is good if you need encouragement, but she treats you like a child too. She is great about staying after class to help you study and she's funny.
Very knowledgeable and passionate about her field. There are weekly quizzes, block exams on three weeks materials, and a final exam. You do have to read the book to comprehend the material. The weekly quizzes can be tedious but help you stay on track. Great instructor but the class does require some work.
Her lectures are all on powerpoint and is very disorganized. She wants you to buy the packet for the class, but it's really useless except for the study questions. She pretty much used the same questions on her test, so if you memorize those then you'll get an A. The only part of her class I enjoyed was the field trip.
I loved this woman! Her class is hard and I actually hated the subject, but she made it interesting and fun. Her personality just makes you smile. She's great!
I love this teacher. She really explains things and repeats what is important. She even tells you what will be on the tests. Its amazing how interested she is in the earth, and how it rubs off on the student. I've learned so much more than I would have if I would have had a different teacher.
I took her class online over the summer, and whenever I had a question, it would take her around a week to get back to me. She didn't seem to pay much attention to the class.
Very enthusiastic about the subject. She is very willing to help those in need and falling behind. Don?t take her kindness for a weakness. She bring allot of life to the class room. She is very cute and very down to earth. Young and funny open to sarcasm and class clowns such as myself. Great all n all.
Very disorganized and very poor time management. She puts a lot of emphasis and takes class time to promote study groups. I wish she would take more time to instruct, especially before test.
Very nice and really knows her stuff. I agree that she has very poor time management, but she will take the time go over stuff. In my opinion, if you are only looking to fulfill science requirement, I would not recommend this class. It is way too hard and the scientific essay is grueling.
I was afraid of science but she is fabulous! There is a lot of work but it is a tough, transferrable science course. The exams are challenging but I always got high scores. The field trip is the best part of all. You get to choose between three different days to go so you do not have to mess up the rest of your life! Highly recommended teacher!
Very passionate about subject. Is a bit slow when it comes to grading, but does a wonderful job with her powerpoints and does a good job explaining key concepts. Attendance is not necessary, you can make up a test anytime. Easy class, lots of easy opportunities for extra credit. You have to be extremely stupid or lazy to fail this wonderful class.
ms. danielle has a great personality that shows her passion for geology! very helpful when you seek help. at first, i was afraid of science but this teacher rocks and she's so full of joy/energy! she opened my eyes more and see how our world really works. i would recommend taking this professor for transferring. tootsie roll
Omg what a hawt teacher! Made it 2x harder for me to pay attention. Ms Widemann makes you enjoy learning about rocks! but dont be fooled, her class is NOT for the faint hearted. This is a university level course,so LOTS of studying/reading required.PP lectures often times are a mess,so the book is your friend. Did I mention she's VERY attractive?!
Great teacher! A REAL person.
It's a hard class, but Danielle is a great person. Very willing to work with you and help you so that you do well in the class. Make sure that you read the material and ask for help when you need it. Again, it is not an easy class, but she is great!
extremely helpful and enthusiastic. wants you to succeed.
Very funny, enthusiastic, and helpful teacher. She wants her students to succeed. Gives extra credit opportunities and allows a flash card note page during tests. She explains the information so that it makes sense. Will work with your schedule to help you. She is great!!
Took class online. Alot of work and the tests were challenging. Thought that it was cool that we had a class trip, even for online students. You could tell that she was passionate about her job. Great instructor. Very smart and fair.
Dropped the class because I was a dumb ass and did not study. If you try moderatley hard you will do well. She is really nice and helpful. If you want to pass unlike me just communicate and give it a good effort. She tends to think this is your only class though.
She's tough but a great teacher. I found her to be very clear about what will be on the tests. As long as you show up, pay attention, and study a good grade will come easily to you. She's a little cooky but she's very passionate about what she teaches
She is one of my all time favorite teachers. She makes me want to be a geologist. If you just go to class, pay attention and take notes you will pass. She let's you have a 3x5 notecard of notes for the tests. She tests on what she teaches. I only used the book half the time. I got A's, but then I also loved the material. She is very willing to help you during office hours and wants you to pass. You just have to make an effort.
You MUST read the textbook and attend class if you wanna pass this class. Her PP show what the major concepts are going to be about, she dislikes vocabulary. Easily available for office hours, even attends study groups if you ask. Shes very inspirational and makes the subject interesting during lecture. Take her if you're going to a UC level school
I took Ms. Widemanns class online and it is a tough class. You have to spend time studying for this class if you want to pass with a B or higher. I got a B in the class but I had to work very hard for it. Be ready to study a new chapter every single week and learn it well so you can pass the quiz!
Very helpful, passionate, and encouraging professor; takes the time to work with you if you ask for help; allows 3x5 notecard on each exam, 1 pg for the final; drops lowest exam score (hella saved my grade); no homework, just really study and read the book, her exams are no joke! if you're willing to put in the work, i highly recommend taking her.
Professor Widemann is a fantastic instructor who knows her subject through-and-through and is passionate about making sure her students are performing to the best of their abilities. Always helpful and never overly critical, she made my freshman year in college a great experience that I will never forget.
She is motivated to teach and passionate about the subject. Her lectures are great and she does her best to keep the students involved. Her tests are hard, but if you study well you should at least manage a B in the class. Oh, there's also a mandatory field trip to the Marin Headlands. All-in-all, excellent professor!
Professor Widemann is absolutely fantastic! She has a great bubbly personality and loves to share her passion for geography with her students. Her lab includes a field trip to the Marin Headlands, which was amazing! Having the opportunity to experience geography and geology in the real world was an experience that I will never forget.
Mrs.Widemann is nothing short of fantastic. Knowledgable, enthusiastic and eager to help. The material may seem like alot, but Doc Sharing has practice questions that are word for word on the test. My whole class loved her, if you have to take Geology, TAKE WIDEMANN!!
She is nice and helpful, and a great person. DON'T TAKE if you want easy A for science credits. Class is annoying, boring, and hard. The lab is even worse, take any other science lab if you can. She cool though.
What a great professor! She is genuinely interested in your learning experience. She explains things in ways that you will understand and is very helpful. You definitely take out what you put in. It's not an easy A. She allows a 3x5 note card for exams, but you need to know your stuff. She offers plenty of study aids.
She is very informative, and very helpful. You can tell she really wants her students to succeed. Best teacher I have had in a while.
Judging from the other comments, take this instructor on-campus, as her online class is terrible! There are NO lectures available, very little assistance, and her exams are all canned from the textbook publisher. If you can teach yourself physical geography, go for it. Otherwise, skip this professor. I was so exited to take this course too.... :(
Best teacher I have ever had. She was better than any teacher at UC Davis. She explains concepts perfectly while adding creativity, she genuinely cares about the success of her students, and she is equally as passionate about the material! Honestly she is top quality.
Wonderful woman and great professor. I found her online class easy to navigate with a manageable weekly workload. Professor is always willing to help clarify difficult material. If you make a habit of reading the book and finishing the assignments on time, you should have no problem passing with a good grade. Overall really enjoyable class.
Geology with Widemann is ridiculously easy. Read the textbook, take the quizzes, do the discussions, easy A. The lab was even simpler, so if you're someone who can work on their own, be prepared to be frustrated as she holds the entire class up to help slower people while you've already moved on several steps ahead. Very nice lady, at least.
Passionate professor who genuinely cares about her students. If you are trying she will do her best to help you succeed. In her office hours she even gave me advice and help about other classes as well. She makes lectures interesting and gets you to understand the concepts. Dont skip classes because she packs a lot of information into her lectures.
Passionate professor who genuinely cares. Interesting lectures, she makes sure you get it. If you are trying she will help you succeed. Lots extra credit. Dont miss classes because she packs a lot of info into them. If youre a good note taker you may not even need to study the book
I loved Prof. Widemann's enthusiasm and excitement for geography, she was able to make the topic 10x more interesting. I felt like she was really there for you and was super clear about what you can do to receive and A in the class. There is some effort to put into the class but honestly, as long as you pay attention you're fine. HIGHLY recommend.
Easy. Tests are easy (internet is good for the tests). The final is a whole different situation. It is worth a LOT of your grade and it wasn't easy. look at all your quizzes and midterms, it helped a lot, but study- I didn't. Good teacher- Take her!! Do it! Met her once- which was at the final, so that says something.
One of the sweetest & funniest professors at SCC. She's very helpful and encourages students to meet with her if they are stuck on any concepts. However, she herself tends to teach one concept to death, and students are left to teach themselves the rest of the material expected on the exams. This irked me, but overall, it was a tough but fun class.
Personally, her notes were hard because she likes to draw them and I am a terrible artist so I turned to her powerpoints and reviewed the chapters myself with my textbook. She gives people no reason to completely fail because all her lectures, practice MC questions, and study guides are online. I would recommend her if you are willing to learn!
I took this course over the summer and it was fairly easy. I received a B by the end of it. Every week we would have two discussion posts due and two quizzes due all on the same day. You are given the assignments a week in advance so you will have plenty of time to complete them. Her final was worth 400 points which brought my grade down to a B.
Widemann is a pretty decent professor. She gives you the answers to pretty much all your labs, but works through them with you to make sure you understand the concepts. She's a little quirky and is big on participation (stick your arms out like she does or she can get huffy and refuse to help), but she's approachable and understanding.
Great Prof! Highly enthusiastic and energetic, which inspires/motivates you to learn. Field trip to Marin Headlands was great and really helped to connect a lot of the material. (Can make up if you can't attend.) Online portion is easy but final is in person and 30% of grade, so you better know the material. Perpetually available by email. Take!
Prof. Widemann is the absolute best! She is super passionate not only about the subject but about her students and your well-being. She will make you feel welcomed and loved throughout the entire semester and she is always available when you need help. Her style of teaching is incredible as well, you'll definitely enjoy your time in class.
Prof. Widemann is super energetic and fun to be around. She makes Geology fun and interesting. To pass, all you have to do is study the practice tests she puts on Canvas, and study the vocab. She also gives extra credit for each tests. She is available during office hours and is super approachable. Please consider taking her!
She is an amazing teacher. She is super upbeat, even in the morning. She makes sure everyone is succeeding. Do the labs and you should be fine.
She'll work you hard but not unreasonably so. If you do the moderate amount of work required to understand the material she is a fairly easy A, if you don't get at least a B in the class it's because you were lazy, because she'll give you all the resources you need. She explains things poorly but very clearly lays out her expectations of you.
Professor Widemann loves Geography and she knows it well. I took her online 8-week course Spring 2018, and she offers extra credit, clear criteria, and a must-do field trip to the Marin Headlands. One quiz per week, a cumulative in-person final at the end, and roughly 15 chapters covered throughout. Great class.
Very easy online class, the final exam is in person and is very, very tough. She does allow for an index card of notes but still a very hard test. I would recommend to others.
I took Prof Widemann's online GEOG001 course. It was a super easy pass. Each module/week consists of a discussion and quiz. Discussion is usually fun and easy, quiz is straight from the textbook. She gives a lot of study tools and is easy to reach outside of class. 2 Midterms/Midterm assignments and 100 ? in person final, all pretty easy. Recommend
I enjoyed this class. I took it in eight weeks, and dont recommend that because of the immense amount of information in such a short time, but liked how clear the professor was. The workload was heavy, but if I had questions, she answered them clearly. I felt her assignments were engaging. My only complaint would be that quizzes were extensive.
I took Professor Widemanns Geology class in person and was pleasantly surprised how great and in depth she explains the ideas and concepts of the topic on rocks. She makes it fun and interesting. Having powerpoints, explaining lecture, and drawing it out to get a better understanding all at once. She allows an index card on exams and reviews prior
Widemann is overall a cool teacher, I enjoy her discussion forums very much. They are really easy to do for assignments, but her quizzes can be pretty difficult due to the time limit to finish it. This class is fun and challenging at the same time which I enjoy the most. There is a lot of materials to pay attention to and write them down!
This professor is awesome! The lectures are fun and interesting, and as long as you put in the work and study the exams are easy. Plus, you can earn extra credit for each exam and the extra credit assignments are interesting too. Id definitely recommend this professor, shes especially helpful if this class correlates with your major.
Wonderful teacher! She's hilarious, and she really loves her job. I wouldn't recommend taking the condensed course, it was a lot of work. But she's really helpful if you just ask. Definitely recommend taking the field trip.
I really enjoyed professor widemanns class. She has a clear rubric and grades accordingly. you can tell she really loves her class. due to cover-19 I wasn't able to go her Marin Headlands trip but I'm sure future students will. great teacher. you'll enjoy her class a lot. just be prepared to read a lot and create lots of notes from the book.
Ive taken Widemann for the spring semester, I honestly did enjoyed taking Physical Geography and she does provide good lessons for us and it does make me more aware of what is happening outside of the current world such as global warming, there are quizzes which isnt bad but I would take it again in a heartbeat
Great Professor and makes learning fun. There's quizzes and discussions due just make sure to do the work and youre good to go
This teacher did what I wish all online classes would do- gives access to the entire semesters modules and lets you work ahead if you want to. This class was easy in that she gives you all the info you need to do the work, but there is work due each week along with a few assignments. She's enthusiastic about the subject and very positive.
Very helpful! You can tell she loves what she teaches and wants you to do well. Im not someone who is that great at science, so the class was a little challenging for me but if you put in the work you can get through it. Organized so you can easily find what you need and know whats required of you each week.
Easy and straightforward class, assignments are fun and easy to do, very nice
I love Professor Widemann! She made class fun and her teaching style helps you understand the subject. She also has a great sense of humor and really loves what she does. Not a tough grader, and most assignments are very easy as she guides you through them. The lab can be a bit challenging, just make sure you read and understand the formulas.
Professor Widemann is a true gem at Solano. Her class is pretty easy but you can get lost if you dont keep up. Her class is very informative and interesting. I am slightly upset that we werent able to go on the trip to Marin (COVID). But just make sure you study and do the work in time. And also chicken every so often.
her enthusiasm is contagious. I really loved learning from her. lectures are very informative and she walks you through everything you need to know. the exams are hard but if you study then you will pass. take lots of notes. you will for sure, pass.
Danielle Widemann is smart and caring and knows how to convey what is needed for students to learn and grow. She inspires me to study more and to be more open to the world. I'm grateful for her teachings.
She is so passionate about the Earth! I've never met anyone who would be so excited over stalagmites and stalactites. She is great but every Sunday night the chapter quiz and discussions are due. Don't wait til Sunday to do these things because if you do, this class becomes boring and confusing. Her demeanor is sweet and she is always open to chat.
She is so full of personality and isn't afraid to be herself. Every week, she posts a recording of herself teaching the lesson material, which helps a ton. The tests are easy if you watch them and read the chapter for each week. She doesn't require responses to other people in discussions. Replies to emails fast. Easy class. She is meant to teach.
Enrolled in GEOL 001 and 002 (lab) both online. The labs are so fun and informative. Makes GEOL 001 easier to learn. Watch all videos/ Pwr Pt. provided, in both classes. The pre- tests for GEOL 001 are awesome, worth no points (a study guide) providing a few answers on quizzes. Only downside is one attempt all quizzes. Does offer Extra Credit!
Her lectures are very informative. She records them so if you miss it you can always go back and watch it. Tests are tough but if you paid attention you'll do fine. Most answers are in the text books so open book final made it easy to pass. Overall great teacher. Would take again.
Very caring professor. Engages with the class, has discussions if you are willing to talk, and can break down concepts to its simplest form. As long as you take notes and do the few assignments that are given, a super easy and informative class.
Good teacher. Took this class in an 8-wk format, she did not adjust anything for the short format class so there was a ton of work in a short period. A lot of mandatory assignments and quizzes. They are all easy enough if you do the reading/research. Passable and straight-forward, albeit a lot of work.
Professor Wideman although I never spoke to her once over the semester (asynchronous) her lectures show that she cares about the material and her students. The material was easy to understand, and the textbook she had us buy could be any edition- so I found my book for about $19. There are lots of tests, just read the material and you'll be fine.
One of the easiest classes I have had. This professor is passionate about what she is teaching, she posts great lectures, and her quizzes are relatively easy. If you study, do the quizzes & discussions, you will do amazing on the exams. I would recommend her to anyone who wants an A!
Professor Widemann is an enthusiastic professor who loves what she teaches. Her energy during lectures is unparalleled to any teacher I've had before. She is adamant on succeeding in her class, and accommodates students to whatever help they need. Your grade is very test heavy, but if you study and pay attention, you'll do well in the class.
The course itself was a bit confusing for me, but she does a great job explaining it in her lectures. The field trip I went on for this class was informative and super engaging, she's also really friendly and funny. Loved her passion for Geog. Advice: take good notes, ask a lot of questions, be prepared for math
I took Professor Widemann's online course and it wasn't very difficult while still being very informative. Be warned though that I was expecting more cartography and study of maps but instead got a semester of paleoclimatology. Still a good class though!
Perfect and best professor I've ever had would take again
Just take the class bro. She's funny, very smart and makes the material interesting. Exams are easy, and she is very helpful in and outside of class. Plus we got a field trip. She would let us leave lab early too.
Typical for an online class, weekly quizzes and discussions. Reading the textbook is optional as most of the information is from lecture videos. Watching the videos aren't required either but are super helpful.
She is a great professor, super kind and you can tell just very passionate about the subject and spreading that love and knowledge onto us. One of the best classes I've taken. 1 quiz a week and discussion post on finding something that applies to the week's material (was pretty fun!). Not required to reply to anyone either! Highly recommend :)
I took this class in the Summer, which made it feel like taking two classes, but Prof Widemann is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about what she is teaching. She posts her lectures online which makes it easy to follow along. The quizzes were pretty difficult, but studying from them helped with midterms and finals.
Do not listen to other reviews, AVOID THIS PROFESSOR. She is incredibly moody and unwilling to help or answer questions during labs, often leaving the class to solve her confusing worksheets on our own. The exams for her online course are incredibly difficult with many of the questions coming from outside sources, she makes none of her material.
She is very kind, generous, and a lenient grader. As long as you read the textbook chapters and attend class, the tests will be super easy. Me, personally, I wasn't really a fan of her lecture style. She would ask questions about the lecture, probably to make sure we understood, but they didn't really supplement the learning experience for me.
I took her online summer class. It moved very fast, with two discussion posts and two tests each week. For the posts, she mainly wanted us to do the readings, do a bit of research, and write what we learned in our own words. Be careful not to write too closely to your sources, or she'll give a zero. Overall, the class was pretty easy but fastpaced.
A very supportive professor, she gave me many lifesavers and cares about each student personally. Grades are heavily based on tests but are not difficult. Overall, a great class to be in that's easy and relaxing.
Lab was amazing, helped us through almost every single problem, somewhat lenient deadlines. Test was open note, you could work on the lab with classmates. She loves people who participate and answer questions, unfortunately that was not our class lol. As for the lecture, study!!!! Don't buy the textbook, didn't use it once.
