He is really nice and encourage anyone with a problem to talk to him. Seems really guffy and he likes the cold.

Easy to pass

this is a very fun class. Sometimes he goes off topic but that makes the class more interesting.

Took it on Saturdays.The guy was a little loco but he was funny.I never read a chapter just we never had a paper. Just studied terms at the end of chapter and I got a B.Curses like a sailor overall cool guy I recommend.

AWESOME PROF!He will make it possible for boring material to sound interesting.He will go off the topic in an instant but tie it into the chapter of the night.Take late night where he is easy going understands.As long as U study his handout(which he goes over) its impossible to get below a B.Only about 5 small papers from questions in book.

He is a fun and relaxed professor. I do not feel pressured and it was a great way to start my morning. Use the handout and you will pass, he wants you to do well. It is comfortable and you can voice how you feel and have a honest debate. He makes you laugh and that is most important factor to love going to class.

He is a very easy teacher. He does get off topic sometimes but that makes the class enjoyable. Very funny, likes to make jokes & is very intelligent. Study the sheets he gives you; he will review the terms. Very knowledgeable about everything & helps you with the final essay. He gives you a 5 minutes grace period. Tests are easy if you study.

Overall, the class was okay, but the Professor was a "piece of work". Not only did this Professor go off topic, but he said a lot of inappropriate things, which at times were very insulting. He would always apologize for offending people, but would turn around and do the same thing. I just thank heavens that class is over and done with.

the students that say this proffesor goes off topic are pretty acurate but the ones that say he is boring becuase he goes off topic, unfortunatley dont listen to a smart man trying to convey a greater message then what is written in the book.

Kessler is AWESOME! He is a really good teacher and he wants his student to learn. He does go off topic but it always ends up relating to what we were talking about. He knows his stuff and is enthusiastic about teaching. If you want to learn and have fun take his class. You will not regret it!!

This Professor isgreat, he gives only 2 examns, midtermand final, 5 paper, 3 pages each, short not bad, drops the lowest grade, he goes off topic all the time, classes r always interesting, hes nice he will try his best to help u out grade wise, tak him, its an easy A if u do the work.

By far, Professor Kesslar needs to be tenured at John Jay. He is innovative, clever, and motivated to teach. One of the few professors left that give a damm about their students. His class is easy if you read and pay attention. Even when he gets off topic, he simply is explain a complex theory in a highly simplified model. easy midterm and final.

hes simply a good guy. easy professor. he is very very down to earth and care about students.

taking his class just like taking a conversation course! he talks a lot in the class and sometimes need students participation but just up to u if u dont want thats fine for him,no homework at all and only a final paper and 2 exams. the midterm and final almost the same but difference is the final will more than the midterm.overall he is a nice Pro

Great professor!! Although his teaching style is a little different (not as structured) i think it really works for him and his class. I'm not the type to participate in class and my grade didn't suffer b/c of it. He doesn't rush through, just wants everyone to reflect on the ideas and do what we want with them.

This guy is great, easy to understand and very funny. gives a 25 quest. multiple choice midterm, 2 papers about 4 pages each, and a 50 quest. multiple choice final...all very easy. TAKE HIM!!

GREAT teacher. Definitely has a different style of teaching, but it's a good thing. Relates to students and doesn't try and put them down. No test, but had to read 2 books out of about 15 and write two 6 page papers on them and them present the book infront of the class in groups. A class worth taking.

Best professor I've had so far. He makes everything understandable & he's easy going on attendance. Honestly, I didn't even read the book he assigned and i still got an A in the class.

Nice laid-back professor, but no fool he knows his stuff and will talk with you to get your insight of the subject. One paper at the end that he gives you chances to correct before handing in the final draft.

He is a very nice and understanding professor. He doesn't give exams. We just had to read 3 books for the semester and after reading each we had a 5 page paper. Then, after grading the papers if he feels like you could do better he will give back the papers so you could write them again or add or whatever you can do to improve your grade.

This is one of the most inspiring professor I have ever had. He lives in a real world and his examples used to describe his lectures are precise and to the point. lectures are all simple and easy to understand. Do the required readings and you'll be just fine.

Professor Kessler is hilarious! He's extremely smart and it's always a pleasure to speak with him. I had no interest in Sociology prior to taking SOC101, however, he manages to make the course enjoyable. If you are looking for a relatively easy class in a relaxed atmosphere, look no further! Easy A. read your text and participate in class discussions and you are good to go. All semester no exams NO assignments just a final paper. A real college course a lot of discussions and important lectures. No boring power points to read and memorize for a final!

One of the best professors at this college that I've had so far. He's not only clear on what needs to be taught and learned, but makes everything relevant to your actual life. Also, he's funny as can be. If you see him as an option for a class you need to take, TAKE IT ASAP.

Professor Kessler genuinely cares about the subject matter he teaches. I took his Juvenile Delinquency course back to back with his Social Deviance this semester. One of the best decisions I made. His lectures are inspired and he provides real life experience and examples. He is very passionate about the subject matter and I would highly recommend.

Had Danny for Spring 2016 and the class was great. We talked about a lot of really interesting topics, and the tests were easy if you read the book or studied and understood the concepts.

This man is one of the kindness and funniest people I had the pleasure to come into contact with in my college career. It would be a shame to pass up on any class he might teach. He give one paper that is ten pages but its worth it.

Kessler is very laid back and easy. Attend class and participate, it definitely matters since he does not give homework, tests, quizzes, presentations or papers - besides the final paper which is 15 pages. He talks a lot, and likes people to debate in a friendly manner.

I love him!! I have taken every class I can with him. He is caring, hilarious and does not load you with work, so he grades a little tough on the one and only paper he gives but that is nothing at all. He knows the books he teaches inside and out and will clarify anything that you need. I wish he taught more classes so I can take him again

Readings two papers one a ten pager, but would take again.

Kessler is an absolutely amazing professor that should be taken at least once during your time at John Jay. He delivers his abstract view of the world wrapped in satire, humor, and realism. You'll learn a lot about people and yourself. He usually only gives a paper or two. 7years later and still a lasting impression. Hint: ask ab priv. bx island

Danny is great!! Two papers whole semester, first one is 3 pages next one is 10 but you get to include your 3 pages from the first paper. No test, no quiz. Attendance and text book mandatory.

I've only had this professor for three weeks but my advice is to take his class. Doesn't kill you with the readings, about 4 papers but they are short. He's also a really funny dude. Highly recommended

Read the textbook and have class discussions. His stories are amazing and he's funny, but if you don't pay attention, the class might be lecture heavy and boring to you. Also, we wrote two essays and that's all! Take this class and enjoy the stories he tells.

He likes to talk alot and make students engage in participation. Nothing to crazy and he gives out 3-4 assignments with graded feedback. I would take him in person and not online as he would be better in person.

One of my favorite classes ever! Professor Kessler is the sweetest person ever and his classes are never boring. Worked on about 3 assignments all together for the semester, nothing too hard. Did buy a textbook for this class but never ended up using it.

Fun lectures, just 2 papers, no exams. Attendance mandatory but worth it - professor is engaging and you'll learn a lot. Unstuck study was super helpful for prepping.

He's so funny and loves to talk about anything the class is interested in but will so how tie it back to the class. The test are easy and its best to participate in his class so you're not bored. He's understanding and doesn't make things hard because he wants you to succeed.

Kessler is one of the nicest professors one will meet. He is always trying to be inclusive with students in class. I would highly recommend Kessler as a professor to those wanting to show up on campus and actively engage in class. His classes are a different experience to the average course one will take at John Jay. And a very refreshing offset.
