The class seems hard at first because we work out of the New Yorker magazine but its sooooo easy...
This is one hard teacher but he makes you think for your answers so his classes learning is the key factor
Stay clear from!
it seems hard, but he makes u work to ur full potential- u'll def. learn A LOT, i would recommend!
This is a man who knows what he is talking about. I took his class when i was a freshman. Now i am a senior and i still use what i learned in his class. Take him if you want to learn something
Has high expectations of students. This class will serve you well in the future if you pay attention. Looking for an easy "A" go somewhere else.
Dr. Robinson is a damn good poet. I enjoy reading his stuff. He's quite an intelligent guy. However, I don't like how he teaches. I'm a writer at the university and his class was the only that I have received a B in. He hates giving out A's.
I don't know about Dr. R. He's a good guy, but you can find better profs that don't heckle you as much. However, I learned a boatload of vocab from his class.
theres something about a professor who tells you that before they give you an A they will lock themselves in a dark closet for days. hes a nutcase. and rude and belittling. i didnt learn anything about writing. he sucks!!!
The teacher like to make fun of you when you are wrong and tells you don't want to learn when you do not get a perfect score on a vocab quiz.
I had to drop this class because he is a very harsh prof. he embarasses you in front of the whole class and makes you feel little. A hard class to take with him, a better prof. is Dr. Sadler
DON'T AKE THIS CLASS. He is such an ass. He doesn't teach, and you talk about the fruitiest things in class. Complete waste. I am an English major and couldn't do well in the class. What a joke of a class and a joke of a teacher.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! he's very enthusiastic about teaching but he doesn't teach you anything! Just a big waste of time!
DO NOT TAKE COMP I WITH THIS TEACHER. I quite frankly have nothing nice to say. I was looking forward learning some valuable writing skills, ending up reading the New Yorker and doing vocab, which was a total waste of time. He never taught a single sk
Danny Robinson is a joke! I mean he cares about his job, wants us to do well, is funny, but is also a crazy **** who didnt teach one damn thing!
Helpful and a very nice guy, but somewhat pushy.
It's not a bad course, and he's not a bad teacher. He expects a lot out of you though, and he does get frustrated when you don't meet his expectations.
Very good
i liked this class...i thougth he was helpful when you needed it. I did though not liek teh shoooting down of other students. I can relate wtih that part, but all in all he was a good professor!
i didn't think i was gonna like this class and at first i didn't like him at all but he puts a funny twist on things if you like to think out of the box and your personality comes through in your writing take this hes a good guy and the vocab actually helps your writing and your grade
He's such an ass and if you don't believe in what he thinks than he just shoots you down and picks on you every class He's unbelievable and not a good teacher at all partly because he doesn't teach we read the New Yorker and do vocab and if you don't understand the reading he gets bitter DO NOT TAKE
Youll probably think hes nice until you get to kno him. Not only is he a joke of a teacher, hes sucha a waste of time. DO NOT TAKE if you want to learn anything ....... his class is **** with attendance
he was an inspiring teacher and you can tell he loves what he does. however, he isn't very clear on what he wants for an essay
He a smart man, but extremely ****. If you are a pretty girl with cleavage and nice hair, he will be all over you.
i don't know if i should be reviewing this class because I dropped it after ONE day he creeped me out that much. I would never take him.
If you can sit through an entire semester and pretend that you agree with this guy and find him utterly fascinating, he might treat you like a human being. If you think for yourself, you'd be better off staying in bed and finding a different class taught by a better instructor.
He's a very nice person and his class was relatively easy. Just make sure to read the assignments because he will ask questions about it and there are a few papers you have to write.
THE WORST professor I have ever had! If you interpret the readings differently than him, be prepared for him to make you look like a jerk in class and hold a grudge against you for the rest of the semester.
Danny Robinson is an out-of-the-box kind of teacher. In HS, all I would write were essays that were basically scripted by the teacher. When I took Robinson, I tried the same HS writing approach and it didn't work. I met with Robinson and he clarified my thinking and writing processes. Great guy!
Very eccentric and gives me the creeps
This guy dose not give a****. If you take a comp class from him, understand that. All he bascily wants is something interesting to read. screw the assisment, I did and he loved it. just make it different. that what he thinks writting is about anyway. I found him very helpful, and gave me all the feedback I wanted.

This guy has been beaten down by the world to a point where he can't even pretend to suspend self loathing and get on with a decent lecture. If he doesn't see highlighter in your text, duck.

This is a class for an easy A. You have vocab. quizzes with open notes and the max. for a paper you write is 3 pages. He's a very strange guy, but he's hilarious. Make sure your writing is different with added humor, he loves anything that's not out of the ordinary. Go to class, he takes attendance and only allows so many absences!!
I have had him in the past, he is a good guy but you do have to get on his good side. He seems to sway towards his own intrests. This class seems to be harder then his other classes and he doesnt really explain what exactly he wants. I have seen him take out his harsh feelings before and its not pretty. He seems only to be an easy teacher in comp 1
i sorry, but I like to have my opinion count or at least be treated like it matters. This guy has a short guy attitude and seems to like to push you around in class. never again!
Entertaining
Richard Simmons wanna-be with an attitude. Likes to embarass students in front of classmates and assign unusual or hard assignments. Needs to realize he's one of the worst profs on campus to deflate that ugly lil ego of his. Dropped class 3 weeks in.
Don't say anything bad about the New Yorker, he'll make you feel like a fool if you say it's boring. He also gets a bit of an attitude with certain students. With that said, this class isn't difficult if you can bear the professor. He's probably the worst part. There's only 4 papers, and a few vocab quizzes. You can get a B or C easy.
Ok, do NOT take this teacher. He is so annoying and babbles on about irrelevant stuff. He likes to assign lots of work and you better make sure your text is highlighted. He loves to randomly call & pick on people... so no daydreaming!
i liked him a lot... try to stay on his good side, participate and make it to class... on your essays make sure you put humor into u paper he gives u a better grade on the paper
If he assigns an article make sure you highlight and look up any words you don't know or otherwise he'll give you a spiel about it for most of the class! He's pretty funny but also too set in his ways. It's not easy to write papers for him so make them descriptive and interesting. Not a bad prof, but if you have a choice i would take some1 else.
Do NOT take this Prof. unless you absolutly have to! He is very narrow minded, and when asked for your oppinion about a toppic, will mock you for the rest of the semister. He is very hard to write for, and likes things done in his way. He assigns alot of reading and basically makes fun of you if you do not understand or thinnk the way he does.
He is a god awful proff. I will never take his class again! He is not helpful and so into himself
He might be the worst teacher i ever had. If your into conceited prof. who think they know everything then he is your man. Someone needs to remind this guy that he doesn't even have his PhD. Godd luck if you get him....one recomendation......Drop/Add..Get OUT!!!
this was a horrible teacher..hes probably THE worst teacher i've ever had. do not take him if you can help it !
"A one man army." Very strict & very hard. BUT he actually wants to make you learn. I think he's very good and will push people out of their ignorance to teach them. If you like challenges take him, hates giving As though. Otherwise stay clear...you give dumb answers and you'll face a blitzkrieg. Attend class & in his words..."gotta burn to learn."
He is one interesting fella, very into his new yorker... i dont like his style of teaching, he basically puts you down to make you do better. I personaly dont do well with that kind of teaching. I think he has good intentions with his teaching but he could have better ways of going about it. He doesnt like A's so watch out and try hard.
He is sooo funny! The workload is reasonable, not intense at all. He comes off a little harsh at first, but you will learn to appreciate his sarcasm. Remember to mark up everything you read! The class is definitely enjoyable. Don't be intimidated=)
Danny Robinson is the funniest professsor I've ever had. Love that guy.
Liberal. Makes you subscribe to the New Yorker. Makes you write pointless essays with no substance. Repeats jokes every class
WORST TEACHER EVER! IF YOU GET HIM SWITCH OR DROP THE CLASS. ALL HE DOES IF MAKE FUN OF EVERY STUDENT AND WILL NOT GIVE OUT AN A NO MATTER WHAT. HE IS ALSO A LIBERAL WHICH IS A SHAME. I HAD PROFESSIONALS WRITE MY PAPER AND HE STILL GAVE ME C'S. IF HE DOESNT LIKE YOU, YOU WILL NOT GET A GOOD GRADE, EVEN IF YOU ARE THE BEST WRITER EVER.
incredible instructor, he throws jokes at you and you cant really keep yourself from breaking a smile. writing papers for him were always fun because it was always about what we wanted to write about and what we wanted to write about. add some humor into your paper, some curse words.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
DANIEL ROBINSON.... WHERE DO I START! HE IS INCONSIDERATE AND IS NOT THE TYPE OF PROFESSOR WHO WILL MOTIVATE YOU AND HELP YOU DO WELL!ALL HE DOES IS TRY TO MAKE YOU LOOK STUPID AND DOES NOT TEACH YOU ANYTHING. BOTTOM LINE HIS CLASS IS USELESS!AND BY THE WAY IF YOU TAKE HIS CLASS U CAN'T HAVE AN OPINION OR HE WILL BASH U! THERE ARE BETTER PROFS @ BU
It is really hard to keep everything that I have to say about Robinson clean! He needs to go.Almost had to cuss him out. There are better teachers in the English dept than him! Hell... anybody is better than Robinson! Robinson is a darn BULLY who does not deserve to be a teacher.Guess what smarty pants I have an opinion RETIRE ALREADY PLEASE!!!

Funny and interesting teacher. Tests are hard as hell, there is a lot of memorizing, but class discussions are entertaining. LOTS of reading, but go to every class and its not that bad.
reading the books and writing papers on them isnt bad.. sitting in a 6-9 and talking about a book is a little rough. had two tests including final, they were essay tests and your hand falls off from writing so much. have to write one long term paper. not a terrible class,
Here's what you really need to know about Danny Robinson: agree with everything he says. Unfortunately, he is one of those pretentious professors you learn very little from. He operates off a misplaced sense of self-righteousness that many misconstrue for passion and humor. You won't learn much from his limited insight and incessant drivel. Sorry.
Absolute worst human being who has NO right to be a professor. Makes fun of students who have done nothing but positive things and hates happiness. He uses threats of beating students "black and blue with copies of The New Yorker". He should have never been hired and deserves no respect. I strongly urge anyone and everyone to GET OUT of his classes
This guy is an arrogant jerk. He makes you read the new yorker babbles on about crap you don't care about and try to beat you down mentally if you disagree i had the unfortunate experience of having his class during the election and as a republican i really just wanted to get up and punch the guy every class. If you get his class drop it!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite professors! He may be a little harsh on grading but it's only because he wants you to do better. With his grading though, I have become a better writer and have done a lot better on my other papers. It is hard to get an A but if you try hard, you can do it! He is extremely funny and I loved his class! Just do you work!
Danny Robinson is a horrible professor. He picks favorites and does nothing but degrade those who aren't favorites. His tests are impossible, and he teaches absolutely nothing. Classes consist of him talking about whatever he wants, and it is never educational. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Fantastic prof. One of my absolute favorites. The class itself was extremely challenging which made it all the more rewarding in the end. He is very straight forward, just listen to the advice he gives you and you'll do just fine. Go to class, keep up with the readings and don't put off thinking about and starting your paper!
Dr. Robinson is simply awesome! You don't use a textbook, you use the New Yorker magazine. He's a tough grader but it's definitely worth it because it does make you a better writer. Attend class because he gets mad when you don't! Also, he lets you choose the topic for your paper other than the 1st one. Great professor! Take him if you can!
I do not have a single respectful word to say about this man. I wish I had dropped out of his class rather than listen to him rant about his disjointed and arrogant views towards everything and anything imaginable. He stated that Bloomsburg students are incompetent and will not amount to anything more than people who serve him coffee.
Expected us to read each assignment 6x before class! Teaches you must read and re-read a poem in order to analyze it and then gives you poems you've never seen to analyze on the midterm and final! Told us we were responible for the birth and death years, major contributions and themes of EVERY poet we read less than a week before the final
condescending jackass with an inferiority complex, been in the class less than a week and i have been belittled 3 times for ridiculous reasons, all stemming from a latent napoleon complex.....AVOID HIS CLASS IF U CAN, THE NICE ACT IS JUST A TRAP
A 20-minute oratory on the use of the f-word, particularly when there was a lack of a point, is an utter waste of my time. Should you be looking for an instructor (word loosely used) that is rude, offensive, and belittling - this is your man (also loosely used).
Danny Robinson is not so bad as a professor, but is horrible as a person. I was an english major and thoroughly enjoyed all of my english courses. I never recieved anything lower than an A. In his class he called me out for not participating and went as far as to make me cry. He expects you to read 7-10 poems six times every night.
After 4 years, I can state with certainty that Danny is the worst professor I've ever had. He picks on students, making a real effort to belittle and humiliate them in front of the class. There was one instance where a girl was 30 seconds late and walked in front of him to get to her seat - he spent a good ten minutes criticizing her "rudeness"
This guys is hilarious. Every word that comes out of his mouth is complete sarcasm. As long as you can understand he's joking most of the time, this class will be a BREEZE. You do 4-5 papers for the semester. Only the 1st is assigned, you pick the rest. Only text is the New Yorker. SO SIMPLE
Dr. Robinson is one of the best professors I've had at Bloom. He gives a lot of work but it's never overwhelming. He's always around to help if you need it and when he "ridicules" it's only students who don't read or ever participate (and sometimes, in addition to the previous items, has an attitude). Do the work and you'll be fine.
Dr. Robinson is hilarious and really makes going to class not that bad. He always keeps you on your toes and I honestly learned so much from him. If you're looking for an easy professor, look elsewhere. If you're looking to learn something and actually enjoy class, Dr. Robinson is your guy. He cares a lot about what he's teaching and it shows.
He comes off lame (forgets papers, his book)but cares a lot. A lot of reading. If you read and prepare, you'll be fine. Go to him for questions of any type or help with papers. He truly loves what he does & wants his students to love Lit also. Missing class will cause aggravating catch up game, don't advise.
After you get past his odd sense of humor, he's an okay guy. He gives about 8-10 poems per class to read for next time. I suggest you read them over and over again. He often gives pop quizes asking about the poems, so seriously, read them. If you can't figure out what a poem means, just start babbling about sex and death, it's usually right.
Dr. Robinson has been the most entertaining prof I've ever had. He really is extremely intelligent and he knows what he is talking about. His comp. class helped me so much with writing essays. His class is easy if you attend and pay attention, and he makes it enjoyable.
This teacher is very passionate about literature and gets very upset if you do not appreciate it as he does. He has a very strange sense of humor that makes people feel awkward. He constantly yells the f word. The worst part about him however is that if you say or do so something he doesn't agree with he will pick on you endlessly. Worst semester
Guys, I took him this semester as a buffer course, I love english and its my go to extra class.. But I could not make it one week with this guy.. He picks on people and expects you to be on top of your game for a level 200 class? He was not understanding.. Expects you to have the book on the first day! Overall, painful experience..
Dr. Robinson is one of the last "true" teachers left. If you want a class where you look at a powerpoint and take a mult. choice test then you shouldn't be in college. Dr. Robinson is challenging, but he prepares you for life. I thank him every chance I get for putting pushing me!!
I took comp 1 with Dr. Robinson freshman year. I'm a senior now with a 3.9 gpa, a internship in New York, and I started my own Internet company. I thank Dr. Robinson for a lot of this. He pushes students to get the best out of them, he wants you to be different and stand out, stop complaining and do the work. College isn't supposed to be easy!!
Dr. Robinson is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. I had his Comp 1 class my freshman year of college and he really prepared me for my other writing classes the following years. I will never forget what he taught me. He was so inspiring and thorough when he graded our papers. TAKE HIS CLASSES! You won't regret it!
One of the most interesting professors I have ever had and I enjoyed his class. However, grading system was unclear and as with all composition professors they have their own preferred writing style which you have to accommodate.
This professor gives a ridiculous amount of work and the vocabulary quizzes are hard. If you don't fully understand a word in The New Yorker, you are expected to define the word and be prepared to be quizzed on it. It is also hard to know how he wants you to write to get a good grade. I would not recommend this class.
Dr. Robinson does not care about any opinions besides his own. Also he is not understanding about any sort of absences, including illness.
I liked his class. However, I had to work extremely hard to get a B+. He does not give out many As. His vocabulary quizzes are pretty challenging even if you have a good vocabulary. I liked his stories in class, interesting guy. You can do pretty good, but you will have to constantly being doing work for this course.
This was poetry class and it was honestly awful. I took this as a gen ed course and he just shoots down any idea he doesn't agree with. Granted he is interesting to have but if you actually want to learn something, I'd go a different way. He just has you read poems and talk about how it makes you "feel".
Dr. Robinson is not a have a clear grading system . He does not make it clear to his students what he wants in his paper, nor what he wants on the final. All he says is to let him know how it makes the reader (you) feel. And if it's not what he agrees with it is wrong. He says he is not like this in the beginning, but he is. And I am truly upset.
Dr. Robinson is a great professor He is a very hard grader, and skipping class is not an option. I learned a lot and he pushed me to do my best. He is a funny guy and likes to poke fun, makes class enjoyable. Overall, great prof
He can be funny and entertaining, but extremely sarcastic and can be extremely rude. He does not compromise, and acts like the world revolves around your poetry class. Stubborn, calls people out, aggressive, rude, but in a good mood if your whole class shows a love for poetry. No rubrics and he never knew what anyone's grades were. Avoid if you can
He's a really tough professor, not easy to connect with emotionally.
I graduated in 2013 from Bloomsburg. I had Dr. Robinson freshman year and senior year. The man is one of the smartest people you will ever meet. Most students complain because he is a hard grader and actually challenges you to be better and think outside the box. Stop complaining and do the work. Be better and stop trying to get easy A's.
As a professor he is interesting to listen to however never take during a tough semester. He believes all focus should be on his class. I enjoyed talking to him however he can be quite blunt and some personalities do not click with him. If you don't come to class expect to fail. He can be unclear what he wants but eventually you learn through trial
His grading instructions are unclear and when you ask him to clarify he becomes defensive. This was actually the worst class I have ever taken- I loved the content but hated the lack of structure and explanation. Avoid his classes at all costs.
Didn't know what my grade was all semester. It's kinda funny because it seems like he just wings a grade at you at the end of the semester. If you take him, get ready to read and write in between classes. Too unclear in his assignments and tests. Would not recommend him.
I got an A-/B+ on a paper. When I asked my numerical grade, he said if I asked again he would give me the lower one. His grading is too unclear so you never know how to structure your papers. Never puts grades online. Thought I was getting an A in the class but got a B+. NEVER TAKE HIM. He definitely has attention issues and lectures are useless.
I am an English major, and this is the hardest class I have taken. He never told us what he wanted done for an assignment. He was rude, insulting, and degrading; he never treated any students with respect. This class was mandatory for me so I had no choice but to take it with him. I will NEVER take him again, unless I want to be treated inhumanly.
Don't take if you are looking for an easy elective. This class is extremely difficult to get an A in and Robinson is a pretty scary guy. He says "Nothing is ever really 100%" and therefore does not give A's to anyone. Not worth all the time and effort for an elective course.
Does not make grading clear
This class gave me anxiety. It was a 100 level course but I felt as though the work was not worth the credits. This class was not a composition class but I wrote more for this class than I did for comp. There were papers due twice a week and he only ever graded two of them. I felt that if you did not feel the same as Mr. Robinson you failed.
If your dead he would still want you in class. You can only miss two and when you miss more he drops your grade. Tried holding a medical absent against me when I had an excuse. He basically grades on whether he likes you or not. He took 10 points off my midterm for not likening my opinion. Your opinion is always wrong
awful professor. calls students out in class. doesn't tell you how you're being graded ever. only allowed two absences no matter the circumstances.
Dr. Robinson is a challenging professor, but we're in college! If you're not looking to learn anything and just be handed A's, take another class. Robinson feels so passionately about the material he is teaching, which makes students feel the same way. One of the most influential professors I have had at Bloomsburg to date.
Anyone who doesn't like Dr. Robinson just doesn't understand him. He's funny, intellectual, and a truly interesting guy. He expects a lot from his students because he wants us to actually learn something for once. He's not even a hard grader if you actually try. I LOVED him and his class. I was never bored and left everyday feeling enlightened.
Dr. Robinsons classes are taught differently than other teachers I have had in the past. You only write 4 papers the entire semester and you have to read many articles but that materials helps you while writing your papers. Your writing has to be creative or he won't be impressed. IF you dont come to class you won't pass. Liked him overall.
Dr. Robinson can be funny at times but otherwise it can be a struggle. He gives readings for every class and expects you to highlight everything or he'll get upset. He does not put grades online either and it is a guess as to what you have. He gave a test on quotes from the numerous stories and you have to recognize the character, author, and story
Dr. Robinson can be seen as many as degrading, but he likes to poke fun and people take it the wrong way. He does take attendance very seriously, you only have 2 misses. 4 papers through the semester, plus readings from The New Yorker that are discussed in class. Make your first paper very creative or you won't get off to a good start.
Robinson has a tendency to call students out and roast them far more than necessary. His exams are absolutely ridiculous and the whole semester you will not know your grade. He must believe you have no other classes than his due to the amount of reading he assigns. If you're looking for an easy A, this ain't it chief. 10/10 would NEVER recommend.
Dr. Robinson is one of the funniest people I've ever met. He is super passionate about what he does and that's why his class is so difficult. He wants you to feel something about the work not just say "it was boring." I had so much fun in his class despite the way he calls students out. You need to read to keep up or you'll do yourself dirty.
he was easily the worst professor i have ever had. he made class absolutely miserable and made you dread coming. overall he treated students poorly and called them names based off of THEIR opinions and if it wasnt the same as his, he would drag you about it all semester. awful class overall. wouldnt recommend.
Overall I think this class was an eye opener. you come on here looking for the easy teachers. let me tell you this class was not easy, especially mentally, but Dr. Robinson was no doubt a great teacher. He tended to value his opinions more and he wasn't ready to give anyone an A the whole semester. But I would definitely take a class w/ him again.
The WORST. He never post grades on BOLT. His grades are nothing but participation and essays which he doesn't provide a rubric for any of the essays just the prompt. So he basically gives you the grade he wants to. He requires a subscription of The New Yorker as your textbook.
Dr. Robinson is an interesting character who can be known for grading hard. During the class there were 3 essays that you had to write plus a couple 1 page papers. He is very into his New Yorker magazine. If you do the readings and provide tons of descriptions and details in writings you will do fine in this class. He likes descriptive writing.
Professor Robinson is a hard grader and makes you work for your grades. Participate every class, try as hard as you can, and put in the work. When I first took his class, he was one of the hardest teachers in my semester. Robinson cares deeply about the class and making sure students do the best they can. Overall, a great professor.
This class was made harder than it had to be. Prof Robinson would grade papers differently then how he said he would. Was not a fan of conflicting opinions. The only good thing was that he gave a break every 25 minutes. I was given a 60 for attending every class session. Overall he was not that good at teaching this course.
I will never take this class again. I cried frequently because of this class. Prof. Robinson made rude remarks to students in front of the entire class and would also make misogynistic remarks. He consistently told my class we were lazy and didnt care. Overall he was really rude most of the time
Dr. Robinson has so much wisdom. I always leave his class feeling refreshed. You learn so much from the in-class discussions, but also about life and the way the world works. He is the only professor Ive had at BU that has taught me how to truly love and appreciate literature. His classes arent conventional, but creative and passionate.
I liked taking Dr. Robinsons English class. Although you have to be a specific type of writer for him. Hes not biased but will definitely make you work for your grade and will give you the grade you deserve. Hes taught me a lot and Im sad my teacher was replaced half way through the year. I would take him again. Do be prepared to read A LOT.
